SHINEDOWN Cancels European Dates Due To 'Economic And Logistical Side Of Touring'
SHINEDOWN has canceled its previously announced fall 2022 dates in continental Europe due to "economic and logistical side of touring".
On Wednesday (October 19), SHINEDOWN released the following statement via social media: "To our friends in Europe -- we wanted to give you a message directly from the 4 of us in the band.
"As most of you know, we're not a band who cancels shows, we can think of maybe twice that we've done it in our 20 year career. That's what makes this decision very difficult.
"We were very much looking forward to touring Europe with our friends ASKING ALEXANDRIA and ZERO 9:36 . Alas, the economic and logistical side of touring currently in Europe are growing too heavy for us to be able to make this feasible at this present time. With that being said, we've made this difficult yet necessary decision.
"We can't put into words how much it sucks to have to cancel shows. We're very much looking forward to coming back very soon and making this up to you.
"Our goal as a band has always been to come over to Europe and bring the show that you all see on videos and photos from what we've been able to build in other parts of the world. We will still strive to do just that.
"To our friends in the U.K., we will still be able to make these shows happen and are very much looking forward to them.
"These decisions are never made lightly especially with this band. We love you and we loe touring Europe, and we WILL be back!
"Respectfully and with love,
" Brent , Barry , Zach & Eric
" SHINEDOWN "
SHINEDOWN 's European tour was set to launch on November 7 in Brussels, Belgium and conclude on December 9 in Helsinki, Finland. Among the canceled shows are those in Paris, France; Cologne, Germany; Berlin, Germany; Tilburg, Netherlands; Offenbach, Germany; Zurich, Switzerland; Milan, Italy; Munich, Germany; Prague, Czech Republic; Warsaw, Poland; Copenhagen, Denmark; Oslo, Norway and Stockholm, Sweden.
SHINEDOWN 's U.K. dates with ASKING ALEXANDRIA and ZERO 9:36 will kick off on November 26 in Cardiff and conclude on December 1 in London.
Financial issues are continuing to wreak havoc on the touring industry, with the economics of the business simply not adding up.
Acts of all sizes are canceling or postponing shows, with several claiming that it was "not sustainable" for them to go ahead with the tours.
For many midsized acts, ticket sales are not even enough to cover their overheads.
ANTHRAX recently canceled shows in continental Europe as part of its fall 2022 touring activities, citing "ongoing logistical issues" and "costs that are out of our control."
In a recent interview with BLABBERMOUTH.NET , bassist Frank Bello elaborated on ANTHRAX 's decision to scrap the European gigs and forge ahead with only the United Kingdom dates.
"When was the last time we canceled a European tour?" asked Fran k. "We've never done it. The god's honest truth: Everything budgeting-wise is insane right now. We budgeted it last year and came back to this year with the gas lines and all the shit that's going on. It was three times the budget. We would have gone into a bad deficit, horrible. And the promoters are saying, 'It doesn't make sense for you guys to do it.' The buses, just life in general. It's horrible. We were able to salvage the U.K. But people know us. They know we'll be back. We love it there. I can't wait to go back. It's just a bummer that life is in the way of metal. [Laughs] What's going on in the world is in the way of metal and making people feel good with our music.
"We've been away," he continued. "We just did the BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and HATEBREED tour [in the U.S.] and we got the taste back. We were looking forward to the next leg, the U.K., then right into Europe. We're used to touring a few months at a time. Then our manager comes, 'We can't do this with the accounting.' It's like, 'What? How did this happen?' Then you read the papers and you understand. It's terrible."

Shinedown European Tour CANCELED: Reason for Postponement Revealed
Shinedown has been touring throughout 2022 and many fans didn't expect their recent announcement as they revealed that they won't be continuing their scheduled shows in Europe.
Sharing their official statement online, the band explained that they are not the type of people who would cancel shows, and throughout their 20-year career, they only postponed twice.
However, it's heartbreaking for them to announce that they will not push through with their shows in Europe. The main reason behind their decision is because of the "economic and logistical side of touring" which is heavy for them that's why it's not currently feasible.

Multi platinum rock band SHINEDOWN have announced the UK and European leg of their Planet Zero World Tour, set to arrive on these shores in November 2022.
Tickets go on general sale here at 10am local time, Friday June 17th. Full itinerary below.
SHINEDOWN frontman and vocal icon, Brent Smith states:
“We have always been inspired by the UK and European audiences. Their passion for music is extraordinary.
We are beyond excited to be returning as headliners, with our biggest show yet! We are overwhelmed by the love and support of our new album, PLANET ZERO and look forward to sharing our new songs, along with all of your SHINEDOWN favorites!!! Cheers!!!”
The last time the Florida band were this side of the pond in 2019, they recorded their O2 Arena show for the spectacular ‘Live In London’ concert film which you can watch here .
Meanwhile, SHINEDOWN ‘s hotly anticipated seventh studio album, Planet Zero arrives on July 1st via Atlantic Records. Featuring SHINEDOWN ’s explosive sound and incisive lyrics, title track Planet Zero arrives with a dystopian warning of the consequences when we start to lose our compassion for one another and respect for those with alternate viewpoints or differing opinions.

"These decisions are never made lightly, especially with this band," Shinedown concludes. "We love you and we love touring Europe, and we WILL be back."
Shinedown has been touring throughout the year in support of their new album, Planet Zero , which dropped in July.

Meanwhile, Shinedown’s hotly anticipated seventh studio album, “Planet Zero” arrives on July 1st, 2022, via Atlantic Records. The collection serves up an incisive look at society’s issues at hand: cancel culture run rampant, the corrosive effects of social media on mental health and society and the increasingly toxic division among those of differing ideologies. Featuring Shinedown’s explosive sound and incisive lyrics, title track “Planet Zero” arrives with a dystopian warning of the consequences when we start to lose our compassion for one another and respect for those with alternate viewpoints or differing opinions.

Shinedown Cancel Summer Tour After Singer Previously Hoped to Stick With Timeline
The post Shinedown Cancel Summer Tour After Singer Previously Hoped to Stick With Timeline appeared first on Consequence of Sound .
Shinedown singer Brent Smith recently made headlines when he said that the band was “not afraid” to play for fans amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time, he insisted that Shinedown were “not backing off” their summer “Deep Dive Tour”, but now the band has officially canceled the outing.
In an interview with Jose Mangin for Zippo Live earlier this month, Smith said, “You can’t stay inside forever … if you shelter at home for too long, it’s going to deplete your immune system.” He continued, “Don’t be paralyzed by fear. You can’t allow that to happen, because then this invisible virus, however you wanna put it, then it begins to win.”
Regarding the U.S. summer tour, Smith added, “As of right now, that’s all a go. So we’re not backing off of that rescheduled timeline.”
While the singer did say in his original comments that “our number one priority is the safety of the public,” he later issued a statement to clarify his position: “We’d like you all to know that while we can’t wait to play for you and see all of you on the road again, we will only do so when it’s safe.”
Today (May 26th), Shinedown officially canceled their “Deep Dive Tour”, stating the following:
“We’ve always been a ‘fans first’ band, but leaving you all in the dark is something we refuse to do. The ‘Deep Dive Tour’ was an idea the four of us collectively came up with to do something special for you in a way we don’t often get to do. But with the weight of everything happening in the world today, it has come to light that it’s impossible at this point to continue to move the tour forward this year. Trust us, we’ve tried anything and everything to make these shows happen while always keeping the health and safety of our fans, crew, and local venue staff as our #1 priority. Instead of stringing everyone along who pays their hard-earned money through endlessly postponing and rescheduling, we’ve had to make the difficult decision to cancel the shows. The ‘Deep Dive Tour’ will have to come alive at a different time when it’s safe for all. Refunds for all tickets and VIP will be available at point of purchase.
As much as this crushes us to not play the ‘Deep Dive Tour’, the health and safety of our fans, crew, and venue staff around the world are of the utmost importance to us. We love you, we miss you, and we have so much more coming for you this year while we sort out the ‘Concert World.’ For information on postponements / cancellations for non-‘Deep Dive’ summer dates, please check at point a purchase.”
The “Deep Dive Tour” would have kicked off on July 31st and run through a September 12th show. The outing had already been rescheduled from the spring, when it would have launched on April 15th.

On a positive note, Shinedown have raised more than $300,000 for COVID-19 relief efforts through their new charity single “Atlas Falls”. The song was written during sessions for the band’s Amaryllis album, but had been previously unreleased. In March, the track was finally unveiled exclusively as a song and t-shirt bundle to raise funds for Direct Relief . This past Friday, the band shared “Atlas Falls” with the general public, unveiling a lyric video for the song (see below).

In the wake of bands such as Creed and Nickelback, rock witnessed a resurgence in the 2000s, aided later by Shinedown. Originally comprised of vocalist Brent Smith, guitarist Jasin Todd, bassist Brad Stewart, and drummer Barry Kersh, the band inked a recording deal with Atlantic Records soon after forming.
Shinedown’s debut album Leave a Whisper was released in July 2003, immediately introducing the band’s melodic rock sensibilities to a large audience. Featuring the singles “Fly from the Inside,” “Burning Bright,” and “45,” the album charted at No. 53 on the Billboard 200 and has since been certified platinum. Following the release, the band embarked on an extensive touring schedule, which lasted until the end of 2004.
Shinedown’s sophomore album Us and Them arrived in October 2005, led by the No. 1 Active Rock Chart single “Save Me.” Subsequent singles included “Heroes” and “I Dare You,” the latter of which was used by the WWE in promotion of “WrestleMania 22.” In support of the record, the band toured on the 2006 SnoCore Tour alongside Seether and Flyleaf, as well as with Trapt on the Equinox tour.
Following Us and Them, Shinedown underwent considerable membership changes. The 2008 lineup consisted of Brent Smith, Barry Kersh, guitarists Nick Perri and Zach Meyers, and bassist Eric Bass.
The group’s third full-length release Sound of Madness appeared in July 2008, after which guitarist Nick Perri left the band. The album was produced by Rob Cavallo, known for his work with the Goo Goo Dolls and Green Day, and peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard 200. While it was led by the single “Devour,” the subsequent Billboard Top 10 single “Second Chance” proved a real breakthrough for the band, earning triple platinum certification.
The full-length Amaryllis followed in March 2012, charting at No. 4 on the Billboard 200. Marking Shinedown’s most successful release to date, the album earned strong reviews from critics and spawned the singles “Bully,” “Unity,” and “Enemies.”
In addition to playing incredible shows and releasing a steady supply of innovative music, Shinedown also continues to use their voice for good. Viewing fans as family, Shinedown’s artists leverage their fame to help support notable charities, give-back programs, and organizations dedicated to bringing awareness to inequalities. Organizations that Shinedown helps support through proceeds include Ecologi, the American Red Cross, ASPCA Animal Rescue, DC Strong, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Direct Relief, Backline, National Alliance on Mental Illness, and Heal Autism Now.
The vast number of programs that Shinedown partners with showcases the band’s dedication to making the world a better place. From fighting climate change to improving access to healthcare for musicians, Shinedown is far more than just a group of performers. This is just one of the many reasons for the strong bond between Shinedown and their dedicated fan base.
Live reviews
I really had a great evening, this was my first time seeing them live and they were a lot better than I expected. Brent did talk a lot during songs, sometimes telling us things about the band that were sort of necessary but other times it almost seemed like he kept talking just so he wouldn’t have to play. I was also shocked to realise only 3 songs of their new album were performed; Attention Attention (the album title as well as a song) wasn’t even played, and instead they relied on material from the early 2000’s which I was unfamiliar with (I only know their last two albums in depth). The crowd loved it and could all sing along (so maybe it was my fault for not recognising as much) but I am still confused why the band came on stage with the start of Attention Attention playing and to not even perform that song on stage. Brent wore a jacket with the ‘!’ of the album cover which was also featured on the drums so it all seemed that the evening would be full of new material and still they didn’t go into their new album as much as I’d hoped, they did about 3 songs each from each record. This doesn’t mean I didn’t have a great time, on the contrary, but it didn’t make sense to me that the new album had come out months ago and 75% of what they played was old material.
Report as inappropriate
Let me begin this review with a disclaimer... I LIKE SHINEDOWN. I always have. I've been to many good shows of theirs. This, however, was not one. At first I thought that Brents vocals were too quiet because of sound issues. I soon realised that the issue was more complicated than that. All new tracks where heavy synth is used was louder for vocals than the older tracks (which I'll admit I vastly prefer) where vocals were lost. Now, if I were being a bit cynical I might put this down to him not being up to the task of performing these anymore. Being generous I'll assume maybe the difference in mic or setup caused the discrepancy. For me though, this was the final problem in an already flawed show. The other, more minor complaints were the setlist - which was heavy with new material and ignored a fair few of my older favourites and, even more minor and probably more my issue than anything else, was stage presence - Anyone remember the days when you didn't get a pious lecture about music and music fans?
Long and short of this, I'd give Shinedown another shot hoping they returned to performance style of yesteryear because I really do like their music. If they didn't improve though, I'd be spending my money elsewhere.
I have seen Shinedown in 7 different cities for 16 different shows since 2003. The shows have been at small bars and all the way up to large venues and stadiums.
The reason I have seen them this many times is because of the live show they give you, makes you want to come back for more. Every show is very energetic and very engaging. Their shows are great if you are on the front row or all the way at the back of the venue.
They will play any number of their hits, with the occasional cover or fan favorite that is not a single. Every song has its own build up and intro that keeps you wanting more.
Lead singer Brent Smith has an unbeatable stage presence and the voice to back it up.
In recent years, as their popularity has grown, their stages feature pyro and flames that you will only see with the biggest of acts. With all the distractions, don’t expect them to just stand there and play thinking that is enough. All of the band members will be moving all over the stage constantly engaging the crowd.
If you are going to be front at a show, Shinedown is definitely one of the best to be front at.
I love listening to Shinedown's music and I bought Attention Attention. Wednesday, May 16, 2018 was my first time to see Shinedown live in concert. They did not disappoint me. All four band members were full of energy on stage and very engaged with the entire audience (or so it seemed - that's how good they are.) They also sound as good live as they do on their albums which is often not the case with many bands. And the bass player and lead guitar player sang backup and their harmony was spot on. The lead singer briefly explained the meaning behind some of their songs. He also walked onto the floor several times and interacted with the audience on the upper decks and the crowd was very polite and gave him room to perform. Their light show is also very good. Lots of laser lights and designs. The only complaint I might have is there was too much smoke used and at this particular venue it became overwhelming to some. I liked Shinedown live in concert so much, I am purchasing tickets to see them again in a August with Godsmack. Shinedown is phenomenal live!!
Epic concert, awesome performance at a great theater. it was insanely hot but by the water Jones Beach kept cool. Brent sand awesomely but I was a bit disappointed by the lack of songs from the new album. They sang Get Up but that was it. They also only sang their most popular songs but almost none from their first few albums and none at all that weren’t their most famous. I would’ve liked to hear some more somgs that weren’t as popular as I’ve heard them many times. It was great that they coheadlined with godsmack as they put on a kickass performance also. They really create the classic rock atmosphere with their fans. The crowd was on fire from shinedown and godsmack kept it alive. It also seemed to me that Brent’s voice sounded slightly different, maybe it was mechanized or something because it sounded higher pitched. I’m gusssing he lost his voice over the tour and had to compensate, better that than cancel the show, this was also the last show of the first leg so they’re taking a break. Altogether best concert I’ve ever been.
Since hard rock band Shinedown in 2001 they have enjoyed huge global support from a large, loyal fanbase. The group has built a large reputation on this support and they are always held in large acclaim when they visit the UK due to their anthemic and passionate mannerisms when conducting themselves live.
They command arenas with their presence and their music, lead singer Barry Kerch has an ability when addressing the crowd to make it feel like he is talking directly to you as opposed to baiting a crowd of a thousand strong. The instrumentals are also designed to fill arenas, Shinedown are known for having a large sound but this is amplified in a live setting as they tear apart the sound barriers and really rock out. The crowd joins them in this atmosphere of carnage, as they throw themselves around and mosh along, lift each other onto shoulders and crowd surfing towards the front. Shinedown appreciates this and asks for more mayhem during finale 'Bully' which of course the audience happily oblige to.
I have never seen Shinedown before last night. I knew they were going to be good, but I didn't know HOW good. This was literally one of the best concerts I have ever attended. Shinedown as a band, but especially the lead singer, are true performers. The lead singer doesn't just stand up there and sing and do a few cool little things he OWNS THAT STAGE! He has a perfectly executed act that draws in the crowd, and leaves you wanting more. Also, I give these guys mad credit for performing the entire show in suits. The Lead singer was pouring sweat but he remained Unphased and you would never know it was happening unless you were close enough to see the poor man was like a leaky faucet (we were right next to the stage). He never once stopped to wipe the sweat off of himself, but did in fact help his band members and wipe their sweat during an instrumental section. This band does not disappoint! 10/10. It's an amazing thing to experience a true performance. Will definitely be seeing them again.
Shinedown have risen in the ranks of hard rock stardom since their formation in 2001. Although a slow process, the band is far from reaching international mainstream success, the band has nonetheless made quite a name for itself in the hard rock genre and has mustered a whole legion of dedicated fans since their formation. The band is popular with rock fans in the UK and it was only too clear how dedicated and devoted their fans were at their concert. People were singing along to every word, the lyrics so well known by them that they could recite whole songs by memory. Lead singer Brent Smith was the man of the show and led the band with his incredible vocals. The band were all brilliantly talented musicians and the energy and excitement levels of the crowd did not waver all night, kept alive by the energy and enthusiasm of the band members themselves, on stage. The entire night was electric, with a mix of fan favourite classics and less well known singles being played.
As always the band was great! This was my 8th time seeing them. They sang about 19 songs some old some new. They were dynamic and interacted with the crowd. We were there at 4:00pm and were one of the first in line, but we were not able to enter this venue due to people walking up to the front, pushing, or just disrespectfully shoving their way to the front having just gotten there. This was completely unfair to those who were early as well as were waiting standing for hours to see one of the greatest bands up close. We ended up towards the back!!!!! The venue NEEDS to do a better job keeping the crowd organized/fair (adding ropes) to those who actually took the time to go early. As much as I love Shinedown and have gone to other states (HOURS AWAY) just to go see them, I would NOT go see them again if they visit this venue again.
Last night I saw Shinedown for the first time. They were co-headlining a tour with FFDP and had Sixx Am and As Lions as "opening" acts. I've never heard of As Lions but I was very impressed and will hear more of them. Sixx Am took the stage next and killed it. It was my first time seeing Sixx Am live as well. The sound was amazing. Next up was Shinedown...I've never seen them live but I love this band as well. The performance was amazing and the interaction with the crowd was great. My only "complaint" would be the sound man had them entirely too loud. I love my music loud but when you couldn't understand what Brent was saying...but the performance was amazing. FFDP ended the show and like the first two performances were nice and loud but not deafening. I will definitely see Shinedown (and the other bands) again. Rock on!!
