On our birding tours in Guyana, you’ll have the chance to explore the country’s most beautiful natural areas while getting up close with some of its most unique species of flora and fauna and wildlife. You’ll also have the chance to see some of Guyana’s rarest birds—including the rare Cock-of-the Rock common at Iwokrama and Karanambu ranch in the Rupununi.

Other common birds include the Magnificent Frigate birds, Brown Pelicans, Black-crowned Night Heron, Yellow-crowned Herons and Little Blue Heron in the city on any given day. Sightings of Jabiru Storks, Roseate Spoonbills, Wood Storks, Black Skimmers, Boat-billed Herons, Muscovy Ducks, Black-necked Aracari, Screaming Piha, Grey-chinned Hermit, Crested Oropendola, Blue-and-Yellow Macaw and Black Curassow.

The lodges were all good, in exceptional locations, comfortable with excellent food. We especially have to thank you for the private charter flights to the falls and on to Iwokrama. Guyana is in northeastern South America . It has an Atlantic Ocean coastline and lies between Suriname to the east and Venezuela to the west with Brazil to the south. It is the third smallest country in South America when on a Guyana vacation. 

Guyana is a country of exceptional natural beauty and a wonderful combination of the Caribbean and South America. It stretches 720 kilometres/450 miles along its long Atlantic coastline. There is inland, dense equatorial forest and a broad savannah.

The picturesque capital and primary port is Georgetown , a city of fine colonial buildings and broad, tree-lined boulevards. The striking wooden architecture is reminiscent of Guyana's centuries as a Dutch, and then a British colony. Don't miss the imposing St. George's Cathedral, reputed to be the tallest wooden building in the world.

Flashes of scarlet, yellow and blue burst through the forest's intense green as macaws fly like arrows across a clearing in the canopy. Toucans, and the awesome Harpy Eagle, swoop through the trees, while the beautiful but elusive Guyana Cock-of-the-Rock lingers around the waters of Kaieteur Falls. More than 700 indigenous species of birds adorn Guyana's forests.

The tumbling rivers and dense rainforests of Guyana are filled with extraordinary natural sights. Kaieteur Falls, where the 400-foot wide Potaro River plunges 741 feet down from the Pakaraima Plateau, is one of the world's great waterfalls. The magnificence of Kaieteur stands beyond any comparison in its majesty and sheer size. You can also on Guyana vacations visit the striking beauty of the Orinduik Falls, Marshall Falls, the Kaieteur Gorge and remote Mount Roraima - the inspiration for Conan Doyle's Lost World.
