The 1975 Announces North American Fall Tour – Setlist & Ticket Info

The 1975 has announced a fall tour of North America. The band began their series of concerts last year in support of their 2022 album, Being Funny in a Foreign Language .

This is the group’s second time going on tour with the album, having previously embarked on their first At Their Very Best tour in October 2022 in the U.S. They then moved around the U.K., Latin America, Asia, Australia and Europe.

The tour transformed throughout its initial run in the U.S., featuring evolving setlists and surprise guest appearances from Phoebe Bridgers and Bleachers.

It remains to be seen what the band will do for their performances this time around.

The 1975’s Matty Healy Lifts the Curtain on Band’s Biggest Tour Yet (EXCLUSIVE)

“I don’t feel like we’re big enough to play these rooms, and yet we are,” Matty Healy says sometime between selling out New York City’s Madison Square Garden and Los Angeles’ Kia Forum. The idiosyncratic 1975 frontman is pensive, lying on a hotel bed somewhere in Tennessee — or was it Texas? — speaking with Variety over Zoom.

“The album felt like you were watching something, like you were a witness to something,” says Healy, who wrote the show and serves as its creative director. “And that was the idea with the show as well. We wanted it to be as experiential as the album was.”

When prodded about the meaning of the uncooked T-bone, he pauses and answers the question with a question: “Did you see all the conversation asking if it was real meat or not? I can’t imagine how difficult it would be to fabricate meat. I’d probably be more worried about eating some weird prop.”

Healy, you quickly get the sense, is less interested in breaking down the specifics of this performance than the idea of performance itself.

For as confident as he is onstage — introducing the 1975 as “the greatest band on the planet” or proclaiming, “We just keep getting better!” during the second act — Healy isn’t shy about his insecurities.

“Some nights I feel really exposed,” he says of the tour. “In New York, I didn’t feel that exposed, so I was happy to do almost six minutes onstage by myself. But when I played the other night, I was like, ‘I don’t feel comfortable enough in my own skin.’ But then I told people that. So it’s become this meta narrative about what’s happening with me.”

The “At Their Very Best” tour has evolved throughout its North American run, from altered setlists to surprise guest cameos from Phoebe Bridgers and Bleachers. Last week, the band began decorating the house with twinkle lights and a Christmas tree. In Las Vegas, Healy brought a fan onstage and proceeded to ( consensually ) make out with her during “Robbers.” The next night in San Diego, he snogged a male fan . Midway through the tour, the 1975 was regularly trending on Twitter and sparking headlines like “Creepy behavior or pop performance?” In L.A., where dozens of fans brought signs that read, “Kiss Me, Matty” and “Spit in My Mouth,” Healy opted to lock lips with bassist Ross MacDonald instead.

Speaking with Healy before he went on a romantic rampage – and he declined to comment afterward – one quote that sticks out in hindsight is, “I’m always just trying to do what the 1975 is, which is at least interesting.”

That spirit is also reflected in the structure of the show, which opens with seven consecutive songs from “Being Funny,” an album that came out just weeks before the tour began. Devoting the first hour-hour of an arena show to new material is a bold choice, and one that Healy didn’t necessarily process until he first took the stage.

“The first night, in Connecticut, I was met with the reality of what 8,000 people looked like,” he says. “And that’s a bit like, ‘Oh, shit. I’ve totally just been thinking about our fans and the people I see on the internet.’ I’m not thinking about Gary who’s only heard whatever song.”

He continues, “I was like, ‘Is this way too off the deep end?’ But I was also like, ‘Fuck it. This is my show. People come to see the show.’ They’ve not necessarily come to see fucking ‘Chocolate.’ So I think everyone is left, if not happy, then pretty interested.”

When they burst onto the scene with their 2013 self-titled debut album, the 1975 had a monochromatic visual identity. The black background and neon white rectangle became the band’s iconic symbol, and their live show was centered around it, with volumetric video projection used as its main light source.

The band’s 2014 staging, with a stark background of five neon-lit rectangles, “was one of the first shows that people talked about as being Instagram-ready,” says Rylander, who has worked with the 1975 for nearly a decade. “We put a lot of time and effort into making sure that anyone could take a photo of that show from anywhere in the audience and it would be a great shot.” The following tour, the band catered to social media even more with a portrait-scale show: “The set had more or less the form and shape of an iPhone when you think of it.”

But this time around, the 1975 opted for the opposite extreme, trading a bright, digitally lit stage for a more organic, living and breathing set. The band ditched the Tumblr-era black and white for warm, homey tones.

Yet according to Healy, the idea of performing out of a literal home “didn’t seem like that obvious of a conclusion until I got there.”

“When Matthew was making the album, he was talking about how he wanted the listener to feel as if they were witnessing something,” says the 1975’s manager Jamie Oborne, who also founded and owns Dirty Hit Records. “He wanted an experience of intimacy in the record, so naturally when we started thinking about the show, he wanted the same type of thing.”

There’s still, of course, plenty of photo-worthy moments, like when Healy delivers an impassioned “I Like America & America Likes Me” from the roof of the house, or falls to his knees under the giant street lamp during “Fallingforyou.”

The goal, Rylander says, is to create such a strong visual identity for not only each tour but also each song, so that fans can see a photograph from the show and be able to discern exactly when it was snapped.

The “At Their Very Best” tour is also filled with Easter eggs for eagle-eyed fans to discover. The house and street lamp are inspired by the artwork for fan-favorite single “Fallingforyou,” and every song on the setlist gets a dedicated lyric book on the house’s bookshelf. There’s also props from 1975 music videos — like Healy’s beanie from “Sincerity Is Scary” — as well as relics from Healy’s favorite movies — like the “E.T.” souvenir cup and Ohio blue tip matches from the Adam Driver film “Paterson.” In case it wasn’t cozy enough, the walls are decorated with framed family photos.

There’s also, of course, a bunch of clues that even Reddit hasn’t spotted yet, says Rylander, who won’t even tell me the still-hidden references for fear of spoiling the mystery.

Boringly enough, Rylander says the biggest challenge to producing a show of this stature is the economics of the post-pandemic touring industry. “Everything is twice if not three times as expensive as they were when we started,” he says. “There is not a lot of gear out there. We’re much more restricted to trucking space and logistics. So we’ve really gone from maximalism to minimalism.”

Oborne avoids divulging specific numbers, but assures that this tour is “costly.” The house, which is fully furnished and functional with various rooms, is big enough to fill an arena stage and comfortably fit eight band members — drummer George Daniel, guitarist Adam Hann, bassist MacDonald, plus touring musicians Jamie Squire, John Waugh, Polly Money and Rebekah Rayner. The set also has to be collapsed and rebuilt each show, travelling from city to city with 65 staffers in nine trucks. Rylander says the band aimed to create the smallest amount of landfill as possible for this tour, pointing out that the skeleton of the house is modular and the pieces can be “put back on the shelf” after the tour wraps up.

“It sounds very basic, but to have a structure that you can take apart and reuse in another show is really groundbreaking,” says Oborne, comparing the house to a Meccano set. “It eliminates a lot of waste.”

He adds, “In late-2018 and 2019, there was a huge groundswell of climate activism, and we realized that we had to do things a little bit differently in the live arena because it was such a wasteful environment.” 

During the tour for their third album, “A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships,” Oborne says he and Healy became “quite impacted by the amount of stuff we were taking around the world.” (As fans might recall, the band’s next album would open with a spoken-word track by climate activist Greta Thunberg.) So they sought out to make a show that was “more fit for the future.”

While the show itself is not inherently political, a high point of the set is the 2018 anthem “Love It If We Made It,” which has lyrics referencing police brutality, the Syrian refugee crisis and Donald Trump. Elsewhere in the show, the onscreen televisions flash between footage of Ben Shapiro, Kamala Harris, Vladimir Putin, Mark Zuckerberg and more. It’s meant to mimic a social media algorithm.

The show’s depiction of cultural overconsumption is, in part, inspired by Bo Burnham, whose song “That Funny Feeling” played prominently before the band walked onstage at MSG. Of his creative parallels with the comedian, Healy says, “We were kind of singing from the same hymn sheet already. We talk a lot about these ideas and about this kind of stuff. Having Bo in my ear has definitely affected the show.”

Adds Rylander: “Matthew is a brilliant entertainer, and he’s very welcoming into his house. But I don’t think that you could put him on a stage without him actually taking the opportunity to comment on the world that’s going on outside of the venue walls. It’s not all escapism, even if it seems that way.”

Wrapping up the North American leg this week in Pittsburgh, Penn., the 1975 are gearing up to bring the house home, in the U.K. and Ireland, starting Jan. 8 in Brighton. Looking ahead, Oborne says they’re eyeing festivals in the spring and summer.

“We’ve designed a completely different festival show,” he reveals. “It has a different setlist, but it still has echoes of the main show.”

Regarding the reaction to the tour, Healy says he doesn’t seek out comments but has read reviews and been sent various responses. What has surprised him most is that the parts of the show he thinks are “off the fucking deep end” have seemed to be resonating the most with fans.

“Sometimes I’ll write a lyric and I’ll be like, ‘No one’s gonna fucking get this because this is so me.’ And that’ll be the first fucking tattoo that somebody gets,” Healy says. “The more ‘out there’ I think I’m being, the more relatable I tend to be. People are leaving this show feeling a real solidarity with each other.”

But above all the metaphor and “black pill performance art,” as he called it in New York, Healy recognizes that people go to concerts for a good time.

“It’s a party at the end of the day,” he says. “If you’re not gonna play songs that are fun, then that’s pretty boring.”

The 1975 Spread ‘Happiness’ With New Single, U.S. Tour Dates

The 1975 shared a little “Happiness” Wednesday with both the video for the latest single off the band’s upcoming album Being Funny in a Foreign Language ,  as well as new tour dates.

“It came through like jamming. And we haven’t done that in years,” frontman Matty Healy told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe following the track’s premiere.  

“So we just wanted this record to be really like a captured moment and not be too constructed and even produced that much…we did it in like a day or so. And it’s us having fun. And I think that there’s this real desire in art to see something remarkable with as little technology as possible. Do you know what I mean?”

“Happiness” follows Being Funny in a Foreign Language ’s first single, “ Part of the Band “; the album itself arrives on Oct. 14. Speaking to Lowe, Healy revealed why the 1975 opted to team up with producer Jack Antonoff on the upcoming LP.

“I love Jack’s work, and those Lana [Del Rey] records in particular, like some of my favorite stuff. So we were talking about that. We became friends talking about production and what I was doing and what he was wanting to do and what I was wanting to do,” he said.  

“And then I kind of just thought, ‘well, this is like a really nice new energy.’ I don’t… Because we are so closed, me and George [Daniel, drummer], we’ve always been so closed. ‘Why don’t you like come down to the studio and see what happens?’ And then he did. And then, ever since, we were just great, great friends. And Jesus, man, I think that guy has a reputation for being busy, but I can tell you, he’s just good. He’s so good. What he does is identifies what an artist is really good at or where the truth is coming from. And it’s a bit like, if you think of like a great comedian, the language of like sense of humor, they can sense where the humor is in the situation.”

The massive still...at their very best tour features shows across the u.s. and canada, beginning in september of this year..

The 1975 have announced a behemoth run of shows in the U.S. and Canada slated for this fall. The band's Still...at their very best tour kicks off on September 26 at Sacramento's Golden 1 Center, and will wrap up almost three whole months later at Seattle's Climate Pledge Arena. In celebration, they've also released Episode 4 of their absurdist video series "A Theatrical Performance Of An Intimate Moment."

Still...at their very best is a continuation of the 1975's ongoing At Their Very Best tour, which has been marked by near-constant online discourse, mostly thanks to the antics of frontman Matty Healy. These include eating raw meat on stage, making out with fans, cameramen, and security guards, and — oh, yeah — dating Taylor Swift . These new shows promise an expanded production, but what that means is still anyone's guess.

Other tour stops include Las Vegas, Nevada, Sacramento, California, Glendale, Arizona, Greenwood Village, Colorado, New Orleans, Louisiana, Miami, Florida, Charlotte, North Carolina, Nashville, Tennessee, St. Louis, Missouri, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Detroit, Michigan, Indianapolis, Indiana, Columbus, Ohio, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Baltimore, Maryland, Boston, Massachusetts, New York, New York, Boise, Idaho, Portland, Oregon, and more! The "Robbers" artists will also be taking the stage in Canada, with stops in in Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal among other tour dates.

They will play at Lollapalooza in Chicago, Illinois, on August 4th, Waikīkī Shell in Honalulu, Hawaii, on August 7th, and Outside Lands in San Francisco, California, right before embarking on the Still...at their very best tour .

The 1975 Announce North American Tour; Announce November 10 Show At Wells Fargo Center

The 1975 today announce details of their biggest North American tour to date; The 1975 ‘Still … at their very best’ .

The newly announced tour dates will see the band play arenas across North America and Canada throughout the Fall, including a show at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center. Tickets are available via Exclusive Fan Presale from Wednesday, June 21st at 10am local time, with tickets then on general sale on Friday, June 23rd at 10am local time. The band’s ‘At Their Very Best’ tour has taken in arenas across USA, Canada, UK & Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Asia over the last nine months with an impressive 500k+ tickets sold to date. Between the impressive staging, high concept performance art and surprise appearances from friends, the tour has been lauded as a band truly in their prime; a claim backed up by the plethora of five-star reviews from critics. The 1975 ‘Still … at their very best’ will set the bar even higher, featuring newly expanded production.

Over the last decade, The 1975 have firmly established themselves the defining band of their generation with their distinctive aesthetic, passionate fanbase and unique sonic approach.

I saw them play at the Starlite Room in Edmonton which is a small, slightly sketchy venue downtown that I personally love. It holds about 300 people probably. My best friend and I got there to wait outside in line about 7 hours before doors opened to guarantee that we got close to the stage, which we did. But the whole time we were waiting, all of the band members were walking in and out of the front doors, or they would linger around the venue. At one point I ran to the Tim Hortons down the street to grab something to eat, and I was behind George.. Like it was insane.

But anyways , the show.

My friends and I were in the front left of the stage. And at Starlite, they have no barriers so you're pressed right up against the stage. Sirsly came on first, which I hadn't heard of them before the show. They did an incredible job opening the show. Next was Bad Suns, which I left the show being a huge fan of them. They have the perfect young alternative rock feel. They did a wonderful job connecting to the crowd and their whole set just flew by. I was lucky enough to meet them after the show to chat with and they were such lovely guys. And next was the 1975. The word to describe how great of a show these guys put on is something beyond my vocabulary. They are edgy, raunchy, loud and extreme. I have always fancied the lead singer Matt Healy, and he knows just how to work the crowd. He loves to tease, chat and just flaunt himself at everyone. There was no equipment set up in front of my friends and I, so we had lots of opportunities where the band members would come right up to us. A moment that was a highlight for me was during Talk! Matty knelt down grabbed my hand and sang the line, "I've been thinking lots about your mouth.' It was a big deal for me. HAHAHA. But I could honestly write for hours about these guys. Their connection with everyone was undeniable. I'd say my favourite song to see like was probably "Sex". Its the last song they performed and Matty introduced it saying, "this song is about fucking each other." But its incredible to see live where everyone knows all the words and just goes insane, including the band.

Then after the show, the band came out and met every single person who waited. It was magical. Matt was the first to come out and because of how calm he was, the crowd literally waited in close to silence. No screaming or fan-girling. It was sweet to see him take his time with every single fan. He gave everyone hugs and listened to everything they had to say. I explained to him how much the bands music meant to me personally and he gave me three hugs and seemed so gracious to hear everything I had to say. Honestly, he is an angel. I didn't have the chance to meet the members sadly but next time i guess.

Anyways, never pass up an opportunity to see these guys... ever. Its been almost 2 1/2 months and the post concert depression is stronger than ever.

My first concert. My favourite band.

Belsonic music festival is an intimate venue so I was in touching distance of the foursome. As the intro played in, the crowd erupted as we caught the first sight of Ross (bass guitar), followed by George (drums), Matty (vocals) and finally Adam (rhythm guitar). The boys filed on to 'Love Me' and got the party started. Favourites from both albums followed such as 'A Change of Heart' and 'Menswear'.

As the sky began to darken Matty decided it was time to address the audience, cigarette in hand. Stating he loved Belfast and reminiscing about the time they first played Belfast to only 25 people, I could hear loyal fans shouting, "we were there! We were there!" Matty continued to talk about the world and how a 'revolution' was imminent, saying that it looked a lot more "emo these days". I tried to capture his little speech on my phone like many others, when Matty told us all to put our phones down for one minute, telling us we would "enjoy the next ten minutes much more than if it was on our iPhone." The sea of people dropped their devices (me included) and swayed to the transcendent sound of 'Me'.

The second half of the show was truly electric with a rainbow flashing on stage to 'Loving Someone' as two shared a kiss to my left. Then came the ever a party starter 'Girls' and 'She's American'. The true spectacle of the night was 'Sex' however, a light show in its own right, and a religious experience.

Finishing their set the crowd chanted, "one more song! One more song!" The guys obliged and then some, coming back out to play three scintillating tracks: the hymn - like 'If I Believe You', the classic 'Chocolate' and banging 'The Sound'.

The 1975 are a band that not only perform with such energy track after track, but put on an impressive light show and with a prophetic front man foretelling the future, I would recommend anyone witness their excellence for themselves.

Well lets just say this: They rocked it but it didn't start out that way.

First let me say that I am 51 and have been going to live shows, big and small, for 35 years. So, I saw Depeche Mode way back in the day and this show felt very much like what I saw back in the 80's. For you younger ones, and The1975 fans, you will really enjoy it but for the first half of the show, I felt like I was watching Depeche.

The "show" and set are really cool. I have never seen any light show like that before but the problem was that the entire band basically stayed in place and left the "entertaining" part to the lead singer. I have no problem with that but I felt sorry for him as this was their first time in Red Rocks and for those of you who don't know, while it is an amazing venue, it is pretty hight in altitude and every band that comes through complains about not being able to breath. You could see that it was a struggle but he was still awesome and pulled it off.

The sound was great! The band was very tight and way better than what I saw on SNL. I am not a huge fan of their new stuff because I became a huge fan back in 2014 when I saw them at a small club in San Diego. But the new stuff was still good and it made the end great because they finally got to the rocking out.

The opening acts, The Japanese House and Wolf Alice were really good opening act and Wolf Alice now has a new fan in me.

To sum it up, they did a good job headlining and it was totally worth the time and money but unless you are a The1975 fan, you may feel wanting during the first half. Make sure you stay for the end!

The 1975 was amazing live. I've been to several concerts and I can easily say that this concert was one of the best ones I've ever been to. I love their music. I think they're a very unique and talented band, and it amazes me how the different instruments and sounds blend together perfectly to create a beautiful song telling a beautiful story.

Matty Healy was the one who mainly talked to us, and the things he did on stage were incredible. There were beautiful moments such as during a song called "Me", he asked everyone to put their phones away and just enjoy the music, and then during the second half of the song, he asked everyone to turn the flashlight on on their phone, and wave it in the air to the song. It was such a beautiful sight.

At some point in the concert, he kindly asked everyone to take a step back because the people in front were getting squashed. He also went backstage for a while to get water for the people in the audience who were dying of thirst. He also said some funny things such as "the weather does horrible things to my hair". I just think that Matty is such a genuine, kind and great man.

Apart from Matty's great character, the music was really good, and all 4 band members put on an amazing show. There were more upbeat tracks such as "Girls" and "Sex" which got everyone pumped and dancing, interchanged with groovy instrumentals and slow, sad songs such as "Fallingforyou" and "Me" which touched the audience. Great music, great band, and great live.

The 1975 is one band you definitely should catch live.

This concert was certainly a shock.

I had seen the 1975 about a year ago at Ally Pally and although that was a good concert, I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would and that meant that I didn't have high hopes to see them again this time.

However I was proved wrong.

The concert was absolutely awesome! Travel to the venue was straightforward and not too busy for starters and waiting in the cold for 2 hours was not as cold as I had feared. I was standing and although I wasn't that close to them, the venue had a slanted floor, so the combination of this and my highest heels allowed for a good view.

Everyone there tended to be the same age as me or older, that is over seventeen, and I felt that this added to the experience as we were all as excited and into the music as each other.

There was some moshing and although I tried to avoid it at first, I joined the pit during "Sex" and that was definitely the right choice; although it was very violent and fast and probably dangerous, it was loads of fun and got me into the music and got me right to the front!

The boys' playing was just brilliant, they really made us all get completely hypnotised by the music and they played some of their new album which sounded great. Matty looked really fit and shoutout to the guy on the sax, he was absolutely wicked!

They were just brilliant so as soon as I got home I bought a ticket to see them again in March hahaha. Definitely recommend!

The 1975's Melbourne show was insanely energetic even though Matty was apparently not feeling 100%. You wouldn't have known that he'd tweeted the night before apologising for being sick and mentioning that People might be dropped off the setlist due to his voice not being able to cope. Luckily, it was not dropped and proved an amazing opening song to get everyone up and dancing. There were three songs which really stood out over the course of the show: firstly, Love It If We Made It. It was apt that the climate strike had taken place the actual day that the Melbourne show was on, so Matty took it upon himself to do a little spiel about climate change which was (as usual) inspiring. The song itself was full of energy and great staging. Love Me sounded much better live than in studio which was a surprise for me! Finally, Sex was absolutely fantastic: everyone was screaming every word and Matty jumping up and down on stage. My only issue was that Girls was taken off the setlist which is understandable seeing as they're probably sick to death of playing it but I think they owe it to everyone to play their classics like Girls (Arctic Monkeys would never drop Do I Wanna Know despite Alex constantly complaining about how he's sick of it nor would Green Day drop American Idiot!). Genuinely an 8.5/10 and a fantastic night. (Matty in the pleated skirt was also a highlight!!!)

I attended the 1975 concert at LC Pavilion in Columbus, OH. This is a great venue that is standing room only. The pit at the front of the stage is always crowded and filled with fans ready for a good show. 1975 delivered!! The guys used the stage and interacted well with the crowd. They got everyone involved and singing along. They were all dressed in black pants and various black shirts. They used a nice back drop of the single lighted rectangle from the album art. The stage lighting was great and they used lots of smoke along with the lights to really highlight the band members.

They opened with The City which was truly awesome, they played a long intro to it to get the crowd really riled up! At one point they had the crowd hold up all their cell phones like lighters, it seemed like a special moment for them and they appreciated the large crowd in attendance. The highlight of the show was definitely their current hit song Chocolate.

Set list included, Milk, M.O.N.E.Y., So Far (It's Alright), Talk, She Way Out, Settle Down, Heart Out, Me, fallingforyou, You, Girls, Robbers, and Sex. Overall a great show and one of the better live shows I have seen.

First opening band was Colouring, and I have to give them kudos for a job well done! I might be searching for their tunes. Second opening band instrumentals and music were good, but I was not a fan of the vocals.

On to The 1975: THANK YOU for an INCREDIBLE SHOW! The light show was AMAZING! STILL the best I have EVER seen! Matty kept all his attire on, lit up, and I swear there was a bottle of beer and a couple of wine glasses on stage. He danced on the piano and beckoned the sexy sax player. Mesmerizing. Merch was stocked! Unfortunately they did not carry the rose gold necklace I wanted. Set list was a mix of both albums and Medicine. He played 'Me' after kindly asking to put our phones away. Live in the moment for a memory no one else needs to know. Also played 'Robbers' after mentioning he'd never play it again, but they'll play it anyway. I was surprised how ok the acoustics were in the cement building of the PNE Forum. My friend and I had a tonne of fun! If you want a band that can give hot, steamy, sultry sex to your eyes and ears, see this band. MUSIC FOR CARS 2018!!!!

I have been a huge fan since their debut album, and last night got to see The 1975(first time) at the LC Pavilion in Columbus Ohio.Swim Deep opened for them and there was much anticipation and waiting for The 1975 to come on stage. There was a sensual smoky sound then the lights turned out and BOOM! They came out and killed the show with "Love Me". I'm 35 and I was sweating,singing,yelling and had the time of my life at this concert.Thier music is something special my 17 year old daughter and I share the same love for. Every damn song was phenomenal with the lights and screens.Matty interacted with the crowd throughout the night while sipping his wine. The long line outside, the standing was worth it in the end. Everyone loves The 1975, all ages and backgrounds it was exhilarating singing to all the songs with the crowd. They put on such an mind blowing show beginning to end. You can definitely feel the love.I can't wait for the new album, and the 2016 tour.When I listen to them I get lost in my feelings with thier atmospheric, sexy vibe. Great show from my favorite guys.

Starting with the opening act, it was really good DJ set.

The 1975 is band you shouldn't miss live. Really energetic even during slow songs. They're perfect live, as if you were listening to the album but with an extra vibe.

For this tour they have huge led screens everywhere with great graphics setting up the mood which is awesome and not usual as some bands do have led screens alternating graphics and live shots of themselves.

In one point of the concert I guess in one side of the Golden Circle people started pushing too hard against the barricade and Matt (front man) told them to hush and move two steps backwards, i guess there were some girls in trouble because he kept asking if someone was ok. He really cares about the fans, most artist would've let security handle it as they watched horrified.

This is one of my favorites bands and for sure they're awesome! So if you know too little this guy's go ahead and listen to more songs and watch videos and if they're coming on tour somewhere near you go see them live ;)

Event Details

Formed in Manchester in 2002, The 1975 have established themselves as one of the defining bands of their generation with their distinctive aesthetic, ardent fanbase and unique sonic approach.

Led by frontman Matt Healy, the son of actors Tim Healy and Denise Welch, The 1975 take inspiration from the 1980s pop of Michael Jackson and Prince, the art school new wave of Talking Heads and Scritti Politti, and the 1990s R&B of D'Angelo and TLC to create modern, anthemic indie rock. Starting out as teenagers thrashing out punk covers at local youth clubs, the band signed to indie label Dirty Hit in 2012 and had early EPs  Facedown  and  Sex   championed by Radio 1 DJs Huw Stephens and Zane Lowe. Single  “Chocolate”   made the UK top 20 before their self-titled debut album, produced by Mike Crossey, topped the UK charts and won praise for its grand ambition and rousing crescendos of infectious indie pop. Their second album,   I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It , released in 2015, topped the UK Albums Chart and the  Billboard  200, also being shortlisted for a Mercury Music Prize. They followed this success with the concept album   A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships  in 2018, which also reached #1 in the UK, before returning in 2020 with  Notes on a Conditional Form.  The band were named NME’s ‘Band of the Decade’ in 2020 after being crowned ‘Best Group’ at the BRIT Awards in both 2017 & 2019.  

The 1975 return with new album, ‘Being Funny In A Foreign Language’, released on   Oct. 14 via Dirty Hit.

The 1975 at AO Arena — stage times, supports, setlist, rumoured guest performances and more

Whether it's random autotune speeches or Matty eating raw meat shortly before getting tattooed live on stage, it's bound to be a memorable one.

The big day is fast approaching: local lads and global music sensation, The 1975, are returning to Manchester with a massive gig at the AO Arena this weekend.

In case you haven’t already caught wind from the endless clips online, the genre-defying band are currently on a massive world tour simply entitled, ‘ At Their Very Best ‘, and it looks to be their biggest and boldest yet.

With scenes from their performances across the US and UK are being plastered all over social media night after night, it’s clear that these shows aren’t just like any other ordinary gigs. These lot are putting on a creative, show-stopping spectacle and soon Mancs will be able to see it live.

Rocking up to the legendary venue on Friday, 20 January, the Wilmslow -born outfit will not only be playing tracks from their latest album, Being Funny in a Foreign Language , but they will also belting out some of their biggest hits.

Judging by sights like these, you’re not ready and neither are we:

Yeah, if you’ve got a ticket for Friday, you’re gonna have a good time.

That being said, while we firmly believe that no viral clip or prior 1975 shows can prepare you for what’s about to come, we’re still going to do our best to let you know everything they have in store on Friday — to the best of our knowledge, anyway.

Tickets (we have some bad news…)

As if you haven’t guessed already, these tickets are absolute gold dust and sold out almost instantly, so coming across a spare will take some doing.

On the other hand, we love a trier, and you could always get lucky and spot one on resale sites like Twickets or TicketSwap but, as always, be 100% sure you’re buying from a trusted page and not getting ripped off.

Getting a hold of one of these things is hard enough, we don’t need you adding to your own stress by falling for a scam.

The 1975 support acts

Bonnie kemplay.

As for The 1975’s warm-up acts at their Manchester Arena gig, there has only been one confirmed support artist: Edinburgh singer-songwriter Bonnie Kemplay, who covered their smash-hit ‘If You’re Too Shy (Let Me Know) ‘ in the BBC Radio Live Lounge back in 2021.

Having joined them for the UK and Ireland legs of their 2023 tour calendar, the 19-year-old songstress has been chronicling her experience on tour with the headliners on social media.

Signed to the same label as The 1975, Dirty Hit Records — where frontman Healy is also the creative director — she is clearly one for the future and has been well-received while opening up for the main event. Watch this space.

Special guests?…

While just one support might sound somewhat surprising for a show of this size, it is also worth mentioning that all manner of special guests have popped up and delivered some incredible performances in various cities across Britain and America so far.

As well as a cameo by Phoebe Bridgers and even guitarist Adam Hann’s wife Carly Holt finally joining the band on stage for her part in ‘About You’, those watching The 1975 first night at the London O2 were treated to Taylor Swift just casually popping up and doing a quick acoustic set. As you do.

With that in mind, we obviously can’t predict who might make a surprise appearance at the Arena gig but given the stops they pulled out for London, we’re betting they have something even bigger up their sleeve for their home gig.

Some fans even think we could get a bit of Harry Styles given that he is and local lad and was spotted at the first London gig. Who knows?

The 1975 stage times

Now, for those wondering what are the set times for The 1975’s AO Arena concert, although the night is jam-packed, they manage to get it all done in around four hours.

With doors opening at 6:30pm, giving you time to grab a drink and maybe some merch on the way in, opening act Bonnie Kemplay will spend just under an hour warming up the crowd.

The band are then due to take to the stage at approximately 8:30pm, with the show expected to end around 10:40pm. On the other hand, Matty does whatever he wants in these gigs so they could go well beyond that, just fair warning.

‘At Their Very Best’ setlist (we think)

Following the release of the new record back in October, fans can obviously expect to hear Being Funny in a Foreign Language ( BFIAFL ) in full, all played in order with a couple tracks from previous albums breaking up things in between.

Then, after running through the 12 new tunes, the band will be diving into their biggest bangers, with a total of at least 25 songs on the current setlist which even includes cult-favourites like ‘fallingforyou’, ‘Paris’ and the ‘An Encounter’ interlude from their self-titled debut.

There’s a bit of everything on here, with some of the strongest moments from each of their five albums highlighted. After all, it is The 1975 ‘At Their Very Best’. However, it goes without saying that they have been mixing things up as they go to keep fans on their toes, like so:

Plenty of memes and general shenanigans

Last but not least, if there’s one thing we do know will happen during The 1975’s AO Arena gig, it’s simply whatever Matty Healy wants.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock over the past few months, you’re bound to have heard at least one story of the ever-eccentric singer, songwriter and guitarist getting up to all sorts during this tour.

From sucking people’s thumbs and checking their IDs before bringing them on stage to give them a snog, to getting his chest tattooed live on stage and eating a raw piece of steak in between songs, it’s certainly one of the more out-there productions you’ll see on a Friday night of live music .

The band are always striving to be artistic and push boundaries — the use of the beautifully designed set on this tour alone proves that — but sometimes the stuff that sticks with you the most is the simple things, the random moments only that city got to witness and, of course, the memes .

We are fortunate enough to be going along to watch The 1975 at the AO Arena later this week, so be sure to your eyes peeled on our main Instagram and Manc Audio feeds for a glimpse of the show.

As for their intimate Gorilla gig scheduled on 1 February, it’s hard to believe anyone managed to cop tickets for that one, so well done to those of you who did.

Nevertheless, we look forward to shouting “don’t like menthols” when the moment of truth arrives (if you know, you know) and, hopefully, we’ll see a few of you there on Friday.

Global pop megastar Billie Eilish will perform FOUR massive gigs here in Manchester next year.

The star has announced the show as part of the Hit Me Hard And Soft tour, which spans more than 80 dates across the globe.

Billie last performed in Manchester in 2022, when she brought her Happier Than Ever tour to the AO Arena.

This time, she’s picked the city’s new Co-op Live arena, where she’s lined up four nights – and tickets go on sale later this week .

The tour announcement comes ahead of the release of her third studio album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, which is pencilled for release on 17 May.

Billie Eilish and her co-writer and producer brother Finneas have earned dozens of awards for their music since she burst onto the scene with Ocean Eyes in 2016.

Among those awards are nine Grammys, three Brit Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, and even a couple of Oscars (for her songs on James Bond’s No Time to Die, and then the Barbie soundtrack).

Billie announced her latest huge tour this afternoon, which includes dates across the USA, Europe, and Australia.

This is the third huge act to be announced at Co-op Live today alone, which has also added Janet Jackson and Craig David to its bill of events.

The 23,500-capacity venue is set to officially open to the public on 1 May after a few delays, with both Peter Kay and the Black Keys rescheduled to later dates.

Billie Eilish will perform at Co-op Live in Manchester on 19, 20, 22, and 23 July 2025.

Tickets will go on general sale on 3 May 2024 at 12pm through See Tickets here .

Co-op Members can have early access to tickets from midday on 30 April 2024.

UK R&B, garage and pop legend Craig David is heading back out on tour next year as has revealed the soon-to-open Co-op Live Arena as the location for his Manchester date.

The ‘7 Days’, ‘Fill Me In’ and ‘DNA’ singer has been well and truly on the comeback over the past few years and as one of the biggest British chart-toppers of the noughties, we are loving having Craig David back smashing the live music circuit.

Announcing his latest ‘Commitment’ tour in early 2025, the 42-year-old becomes the latest name to join the long list of people queuing up to play Manchester’s newest and biggest indoor venue, Co-op Live .

The ground-breaking arena has suffered some pretty public setbacks over the last week or so, with Peter Kay’s double bill and The Black Keys having to be pushed back due to the venue not being quite ready, but it hasn’t stopped more acts from booking shows there.

Set to kick off a run of just under a dozen initial domestic shows in Leeds before heading to Manchester on Friday, 14 February and closing out the schedule at the O2 in London on 20 February, it’s sure to be a popular tour.

Better still, he’s bringing an equally nostalgic name along with him for the ride as fellow 2000s hit-maker Lemar has been confirmed as his special guest and main support act.

Lemar played a pair of 20th anniversary shows here in Manchester city centre in April 2023 and is also joining boyband JLS on their ‘Summer Hits’ tour this July – including a special gig at Barton Airport .

The 1975 have announced that they will be bringing their ‘At Their Very Best’ tour to The O2 on Thursday 12 January 2023.

The 1975 have also announced today the release of ‘I’m In Love With You’ - the third track from their highly anticipated forthcoming new album ‘Being Funny In A Foreign Language’. ‘I’m In Love With You’ follows recent releases ‘Happiness’ and ‘Part Of The Band’, the band’s acclaimed comeback single which Pitchfork praised as “ the kind of grand, playful pop song that only this band could pull of f”. All three tracks will feature on ‘Being Funny In A Foreign Language’, the band’s fifth studio album, released Friday 14 October.
