Visit Albuquerque Tourism Grant Program

The mission of Visit Albuquerque is to stimulate economic growth by marketing Albuquerque as a destination for leisure travel, meetings and sports events.

In 2022 Albuquerque’s City Council voted unanimously to establish an Albuquerque Tourism Marketing District (ATMD). The ATMD is a coalition of approximately 150 local lodging properties that have organized efforts in order to increase demand for overnight visitation to our city. The ATMD provides additional funds to expand marketing of Albuquerque, enhance visitor services and develop destination assets. This year, 5% of ATMD revenue supports annual tourism grants.

The overarching goal of the Visit Albuquerque Tourism Grant program is to spark innovative ideas that contribute to Albuquerque’s vibrancy and build new, creative visitor and resident experiences that grow a more diverse and thriving tourism economy.

Grants, New Mexico is a diverse community of 10,000 people descending from many cultures and backgrounds. Our climate is mild year-round, typical of the high desert. We are located 1 hour west of Albuquerque on I-40.

Cibola County in the Land of Enchantment has much to offer. Great food served in a genuine atmosphere of beauty and enchantment. Catch the real spirit here in Grants, New Mexico. We still revere tradition here as well as innovations, and continue to celebrate the early blend of Native American and Spanish cultures that created our singular cuisine, different from anywhere else in the American Southwest or Mexico. Our official state question is after all, “RED or GREEN?”

Travel the Mother Road, Route 66 drive under the Route 66 Neon Arch and snap a picture. Enjoy the look of yesteryear old neon signs, vintage 50’s style hotels, you can even stay in the room, Elvis stayed!

Grants was a large uranium mining community from the 1950’s to the 1980’s and you can visit the only underground mining museum.

Grants enjoys four distinct but generally mild and sunny seasons. Summer highs in the upper 80s and low 90s are often broken with short afternoon showers. Early-morning winter temperatures in the 20s often climb to low 50s by mid-day.

Grants - Milan

Welcome to grants - milan.

The Grant brothers' camp was first called Grants Camp, then Grants Station, and finally Grants. The new city enveloped the existing colonial settlement of Los Alamitos and grew along the tracks of the Atlantic and Pacific Railroad.

The town prospered as a result of railroad logging in the nearby Zuni Mountains , and it served as a section point for the Atlantic and Pacific, which became part of the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe railroad empire.

After the decline of logging in the 1930s, Grants gained fame as the "carrot capital" of the United States. Agriculture was aided by the creation of Bluewater Reservoir , and the region's volcanic soils provided ideal conditions for farming. Grants also benefited from its location on U.S. Route 66, which brought tourists and travelers and the businesses that catered to them.

Zuni Mountains

Tucked away in beautiful Northwest New Mexico is a charming mountain range called the Zuni Mountains. Mt. Sedgwick rises 9256 feet over Ponderosa pine forests, colorful aspen lined canyons, and green topped red mesas. The Continental Divide runs through the middle and the Zuni’s have several flowing streams draining large, wet flowering meadows.

Native peoples, conquistadors, early land grant settlers, miners, loggers, and ranchers have come in contact with the land.   In the early 1900's much of the Zuni Mountain range was purchased for watershed protection and placed under the care of the U.S. Forest Service. Forest and meadow conditions have gradually improved since then and Zuni Mountains are once again a jewel.

Bluewater Lake State Park

Bluewater Lake State Park is a state park of New Mexico, United States, located in the Zuni Mountains 40 miles west of Grants. The park itself encompasses approximately 3,000 acres, and the lake has a surface area of approximately 1,200 acres.
