Tunic walkthrough: every area, boss, and dungeon

Our full walkthrough will guide you through every area, dungeon, and boss in Tunic

Looking for a Tunic walkthrough? Tunic is a sprawling game that harkens back to old Zelda adventures. With multiple maps to explore, sprawling dungeons to navigate, and powerful bosses to defeat, Tunic can feel overwhelming for the unprepared. Fortunately, we're here to help with our Tunic walkthrough.

Below, we'll take you through each step of Tunic's main quest so that you can complete the game without getting lost in dark caves and eerie forests.

How to get into the Sealed Temple in Tunic

Your first goal in Tunic is to get into the Sealed Temple. The large golden doors are initially locked, but you can eventually get inside. To do this, you need to ring the bells in the East and West Belltowers. Below, we walk you through how to get to both Belltowers so that you can enter the Sealed Temple, while also explaining how to get some crucial early-game items. We'll also explain how to defeat the first true boss in Tunic.

  • How to get a sword
  • How to level up
  • East Forest guide
  • How to get a shield
  • How to get a lantern
  • West Garden guide
  • Garden Knight boss fight guide

The guides above will take you from the first moment when you wake up on the beach through to the first major boss and the Sealed Temple.

How to get the three keys in Tunic

After defeating the Garden Knight and ringing the bell in the West Belltower, you can make your way back to the Sealed Temple. Interact with the doors again to enter the Temple, and then make your way through to find a large contraption in the centre. There are three slots here, each requiring a key.

There are three keys (red, green, and blue) scattered around the world in large dungeons that you must collect. The next series of guides will walk you through how to get your hands on each key and how to defeat the many bosses you'll face on this journey.

  • How to get the wand
  • Forest Fortress guide/How to get the red key
  • Siege Engine boss fight guide
  • How to get the magic orb/grappling hook in Tunic
  • Ruined Atoll guide/How to get the green key
  • Librarian boss fight guide

More guides are on the way!

That wraps up our Tunic walkthrough. If you want to know more about what we thought of this isometric action-adventure, take a look at our Tunic review to find out why we think it's "a cunning Zelda homage with a touch of Souls".

Tunic: how to find every hero’s grave.

The Hero's Graves in Tunic can be used to restore the fox's stat upgrades and physical form after losing to The Heir and becoming a ghost.

The Hero's Graves locations in  Tunic can be found and activated early on in the game, but they won't be useful until after the first confrontation with The Heir. After losing the initial battle, the fox is returned to the beach in the Overworld as a ghost with none of their previously applied stat upgrades. In order to return to corporeal form and restore any stat boosts, players will need to visit each of the six Hero's Graves scattered around the world of  Tunic .

Before the Hero's Graves can be tracked down, players will need to go across the southeastern bridge in the Overworld to go through The Swamp and Cathedral areas and obtain the teleport dash ability. The Swamp will lead into the Cathedral where players will need to complete a combat challenge involving six waves of enemies. After obtaining the teleport dash ability, the pedestals at each Hero's Grave warp point can be reached, and the fox's stat upgrades in  Tunic can be restored.

Related:  Tunic: Every Instruction Page Location

The world of  Tunic at night is different than during the day, so even if players have found the Hero's Graves earlier in the game, the path to get to them won't be the same. Once the fox becomes a ghost, all six Hero's Graves need to be visited before players can switch to daytime again. Only the physical form of the fox can switch between night and day by sleeping in the Old House. The Hero's Graves can be found in The Swamp, Cathedral, East Forest, Eastern Vault, West Garden, and The Monastery.

The Swamp Hero's Grave In Tunic

The Hero's Grave in the Swamp is the easiest one to reach because the fox will pass by it after obtaining the teleport dash ability in Tunic . From The Swamp, players will need to enter the Cathedral and complete the combat trial by activating each of the six statues. Once all six waves of enemies are defeated and the new ability is claimed, players can exit the Cathedral. It will lead back into The Swamp where there's a ladder to the south, then the Hero's Grave will be accessible. Praying in front of the statue will activate it and warp the fox to a different area. At the top of the stairs, there's a pedestal to teleport to, and interacting with the upgrade item will restore the fox's stamina bar.

Great Library Hero's Grave In Tunic

From the fast travel hub, players can take the bottom right  warp point in  Tunic  to reach the Great Library where the green gem was obtained. Once inside the Great Library, players can head south to exit via the ladder surrounded by piles of books. At the base of the tower, another ladder can be taken down to reach the room with the Hero's Grave in it. Players will need to go down the curved stairs, then up the stairs to the left to activate the Hero's Grave. The pedestal at this location will restore the fox's magic meter.

East Forest Hero's Grave In Tunic

Tunic 's East Forest warp point can be reached by using the teleport dash ability in the fast travel central hub to jump across the debris on the right side. The platform is broken off and isolated from the rest of the warp points. Inside the East Forest, players can take the path south of the wooden sign to reach the area where the Hero's Grave is located. The bomber and sniper enemies originally fought in the Quarry will block the way to the Hero's Grave. Players can either teleport dash past them or fight them, then pray at the Hero's Grave to reach the area where the fox's attack upgrades can be restored.

Eastern Vault Hero's Grave In Tunic

From any of the golden platform warp points, players can fast travel to the central hub and head to the Interior of the Eastern Vault where the Siege Engine boss in  Tunic was defeated. The Eastern Vault fast travel point is the upper right platform. From the warp point, players will need to head south to exit through the large golden doors into the Eastern Vault main floor. The central courtyard where there were enemies gathered around a pillar earlier will be directly down the stairs. From there, players can go past the ghost on the right side of the screen, then follow the path east. The Hero's Grave for the Eastern Vault is at the end of the path, and visiting this site will restore the fox's health bar.

West Garden Hero's Grave In Tunic

The West Garden Hero's Grave can be reached by starting at the golden platform west of the central save point in the Overworld. From there, players can head toward the fountain and south down the stairs. West past the three skulls, players can use teleport dash to reach the pink glowing strip on the other side of the waterfall. Following the strip north will lead to a room with a chest and a path leading into the West Garden where Tunic 's Garden Knight was defeated . After going down the stairs, players will be in the northern part of the West Garden. The broken golden pillar can be used to hop across the water where there are stairs leading up to the Hero's Grave. The West Garden Hero's Grave will restore the fox's defense upgrades.

The Monastery Hero's Grave In Tunic

Before heading to the Monastery, players should equip the Scavenger Mask ability card to avoid any health-draining effects in this area. To reach the Monastery in the northernmost part of the Quarry, players will need to enter from the hidden path next to the Mountain Door in Tunic . The mountain can be reached by taking the large staircase behind the Sealed Temple north of the central save point in the Overworld. At the top of the mountain, the staircase on the right of the Mountain Door will lead to the Quarry. Using teleport dash, players can follow the path down to reach the Monastery entrance behind the save point surrounded by water. At the north end of the Monastery, the Hero's Grave can be found at the top of the stairs. Visiting this site will restore the fox's potion upgrades.

After visiting all six Hero's Graves, the fox will become corporal again, and players can either fight The Heir and complete the game or search for more secrets. The ability to change between night and day at the Old House will be available again, and new paths will be accessible with the teleport dash ability. In order to get the true ending in  Tunic , players will need to continue their adventure and find all of the instruction pages before battling The Heir.

Can you fast travel in Tunic? Answered

Tunic doesn’t have the largest world in video games, but it does snake out in all directions. This becomes a problem since backtracking through its various maze-like tendrils can take a while. After a bit of traipsing past secrets you can’t immediately reach, you might begin to wonder if there’s a way to get around faster.

There is, but it’s limited.

One of the first landmarks you pass in Tunic is a gold square on the ground. Tunic never tells you directly what these tiles are for. You find hints of it in the instruction manual you put together as you explore, but it’s up to you to discern the meaning. If the answer is eluding you, then here’s how to shorten your treks.

Holding the dodge/interact button will put your fox into a prayer pose with energy erupting around them. This has multiple uses, such as powering up energy nodes scattered about. However, if you pray on a golden tile, you’ll be warped to a special hub area. From here, you can teleport to any area with an active node. From the outset, you won’t be able to get to most places until you’ve visited and powered up their nodes. It does, however, provide the earliest way to reach the Ruined Atoll.

Note that you can perform this trick as soon as you start the game, but you won’t be able to access the hub with all the warps. Both the Eastern Forest and the Overworld are disconnected from the main hub, so you won’t be able to get to them until you find a special item.

While the teleportation hub won’t help you break Tunic’s sequence, it’s the quickest way to get around to the various areas of the world after you’ve powered everything up.

One of the main aspects of Tunic is the exploration and discovery of its world. There are many places to discover, and some are not on the map when you find them. This might leave you wondering if there is fast travel in Tunic.

The answer is yes— you can fast travel in Tunic . This feature is not really explained or obvious, but you can fast travel in Tunic at the golden square platforms. To fast travel in Tunic, stand on the gold platform and hold the A button for a few seconds .

To fast travel in Tunic, simply stand on the gold platforms and hold the A button for several seconds. This will transport you to another world . In here, you will see several gold platforms. These are fast travel points, and you simply need to stand on them and press A.

The exception to this is the first gold platform you encounter after waking up on the beach. This will transport you to a world where a manual page is. This manual page will give you the table of contents page that shows what topics on are which page of your manual.
