How To Get To Trabzon

We know that Trabzon is on the Black Sea Coast, known as Karadeniz in Turkish. The city is 1057 km away from Istanbul , which translates to around 12 hours by road (car or bus). But don’t worry! Trabzon has an airport so that you can fly.

If you’re in Istanbul, you can fly from either Istanbul Airport or Sabiha Gokcen to Trabzon, and the direct flight will take around 1 hour and 40 minutes. Flights from Ankara take approximately 1 hour 15 minutes, and from Izmir , 1 hour 50 minutes. You can fly from other airports, but you may need to return to Istanbul to connect.

You can take a taxi or the HAVAS shuttle bus from Trabzon Airport to the city center . The bus leaves from directly outside the arrivals terminal and is relatively low cost. The journey should take no more than 15 minutes, depending on traffic. If you want to take a taxi, you’ll also find a taxi stand outside the arrivals terminal. If you prefer to plan ahead, we suggest you book a private transfer.

Where To Go Afterward Trabzon

Once you’ve explored Trabzon, where should your journey take you? Assuming you still have time, you could return to Istanbul and explore the city . There is more than enough to keep everyone occupied for many days! Alternatively, Ankara, the capital, is just 3.5 hours away by bus or car and has many historical and cultural hotspots to visit.

However, Rize is a very popular and beautiful spot to visit and is only 1 hour away by road. This is the heart of the Turkish cay (tea) industry, and it’s very green, lush, and hilly. A quick Google search will undoubtedly make you want to go!

You can visit a tea plantation while you’re there and learn about how tea is grown and made. From there, continue your journey along the Black Sea Coast and soak up that fresh sea air.

Alican redefines what it means to be a tour guide. I have traveled to almost 150 countries and yet my time with Alican visiting the Black Sea stands out as one of the best and most memorable. We saw A LOT in just a few days. He seamlessly integrates the major attractions of the region with a douse of local culture. Alican seeks out attractions and experiences (and FOOD!) that offer authentic insights into Turkish culture, history and people. The Black Sea tour touches on classic highlights and local secrets, the urban and the rural, the historic and the contemporary, and in doing so, reveals the true heart of the region, its brilliant landscapes and monuments and the beauty of its people. It does not matter what the hour, Alican doesn’t stop until you’ve had the opportunity to relish it all.

Alican is a gem as is his entire family, that I had the good fortune of meeting. He is extremely well-spoken, articulate, educated and one of the kindest and most gentle souls you will ever have the pleasure of meeting (great photographer too!). A great tour conducted by a great guide. Alican is an excellent guide, as well as being such a friendly person. I would highly recommend going on a tour with him to this beautiful part of Turkey, which is like no other part of the country. It is a peaceful, scenic area with rugged hills, and deep valleys, and it is green; very easy on the eye. This is all presented in a very interesting manner by the knowledgeable guide, Alican, who knows the area quite well. An added interest to this tour is the opportunity to cross into Georgia for a day, to sample the attractive city of Batumi.

Journey To Green Paradise Tour Programme:

Welcome to Trabzon, know as the pearl of the Black sea, the host of the natural beauties that world watches with admiration.  Transfer from Trabzon airport to the hotel. Overnight in Trabzon.

* Visited Sights:  Rize Fabric Shop – Ayder Plateau – Ayder Rafting School – Ottoman Stone Bridge – Fırtına Stream Breakfast at the hotel. On the way we visit Rize fabric weaving artisanship which introduces Lazie Culture. We arrive to Firtina Stream following tea gardens along Blacksea Coast. After that we will continue our way to Ayder and our next stop will be Rafting School. We will explore unique waterfalls which are at the summit of Ayder highland. Then our visitors will have their free time for lunch and discover Ayder highland. At the end of the day, will return from the same point to Trabzon. We will also have a break near the Old Ottoman Stone Bridge and on the Fırtına Stream during the way to Trabzon. We return to the hotel. Overnight in Trabzon.

* Visited Sights:  Ortahisar Neighbourhood –  Historical Kanuni House – Ataturk Mansion – Ayasofya Mansion – Akçaabat Village – Sera Lake – Boztepe Park & Hill After breakfast,  we will start the tour by visiting the Ortahisar neighborhood and the Kanuni House, where the best sultans of the Ottoman Empire have been raised.  Then we visit Atatürk Köşkü (Ataturk Mansion) which is located among the pine trees. After completing our visit, we continue our tour with the Ayasofya Museum, one of the World’s leading monuments in terms of art and architecture. You will find peace and quiet in the nature with the magnificent greenery of the Black Sea, located in the town of Akçaabat in Trabzon. We will then move towards the Sera Lake and take a break there. After visiting the Boztepe which is located right on the city and where you can see all the beauties of Trabzon from a single point of view, we end our tour.

After breakfast, transfer to Uzungol Lake known as one of the greenest place in Turkey. Transfer to your hotel near Uzungol. Overnight in Uzungol.

After breakfast, you have free day for relaxing & exploring Uzungol by yourself. Overnight in Uzungol.

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel to Trabzon Airport for your Istanbul flight. After flight, transfer to Bursa by ferry from Istanbul.  Overnight in Bursa.

* Visited Sights:  Uludag (Mount Olympos) – Grand Mosque – Green Mosque – Green Mausoleum – Silk Market – Inkaya Tree Departure by ferryboat via Yalova, enjoying the lovely countryside view. Drive to Bursa, former Ottoman Capital and lunch of famous “Kebap of Alexander The Great“. Climb to Uludağ, the legendary Mount Olympos, by Teleferik (cable car), visit to Ulucami (Grand Mosque), the Green Mosque and the Green Mausoleum, the old Silk Market in the Covered Bazaar. The tour includes a visit to Inkaya tree: a huge plane tree of more than 600 years with an open-air café sheltering in it´s shadow where we can enjoy a traditional Turkish tea in the shade. After tour, transfer to hotels. Overnight in Bursa.

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your Bursa hotel. Transfer to Istanbul by ferry from Bursa.  Overnight in Istanbul.
