Absolutely brilliant and very well executed. It's my little ones favorite Julia Donaldson story book and we weren't disappointed. We particularly liked the cats performance. We loved it and recommend to everyone.

Good show. I would recommend children age 6+ due to some of the humour. Younger children may not understand. Good audience participation. Was expecting it to be a little longer.

We enjoyed the show so much! My daughter has asked to see it again and I will gladly take her. The storyline is really clever and Tall Stories are amazing!

Travel Lover Gives Tour of a Lufthansa Airbus With a One-Of-A-Kind Layout

The Arena Media Brands, LLC and respective content providers to this website may receive compensation for some links to products and services on this website.

Nobody really likes going to the airplane lavatory (not gonna touch upon the few people who try to join a certain 1.6-km-high-club in them- they're a special case). Not only is it awkward shuffling past a full aisle of people, but then you've gotta do your business in a room smaller than a broom closet. If you're lucky, you might literally get some extra elbow room on an international flight, but that's about it.

But every once in a while, a few aircraft will come along that try to shake up the typically-miserable airplane bathroom experience, at least a little. A Canadian travel vlogger flying with Lufthansa on June 3 realized that his plane was one of those rare examples as he explored its very unique layout.

Vlogger @downielive said he was flying on an Airbus A340-600 operated by Lufthansa. The jet, while large, was not a jumbo jet, nor a double-decker like the Boeing 747 - which is why @downielive was surprised when he learned that the plane had a "downstairs" area. Walking down a flight of stairs, he discovered a small, quiet hallway line with airplane lavatories , secluded from the crowded aisles and attendant galleys above. The bathrooms weren't much bigger than the usual plane lavatories, but the addition peace and privacy were a very nice touch!

Related: Man Flies in 'Most Luxurious' First-Class Suite in the Sky and the Cost Is Surprising

I would disagree with @downielive's assertion that the Airbus A340-600 is just a "normal commercial airplane," though. According to the Lufthansa Group, the Airbus A340-600 is the world's second-longest passenger aircraft at 75.3 meters (the current longest one, according to Simple Flying , is the Boeing 747-8) . While the Lufthansa versions seat 297 passengers, Airbus claims that A340-600 models can accommodate anywhere from 320-370 passengers (or 475 in high-density seating, but I can't imagine any air travelers would want to sacrifice any more seat pitch than they already have to).

Addressing a Valid Accessibility Concern

The downstairs bathrooms @downielive discovered are a pretty enticing feature. Personally speaking, I can only imagine that this would be perfect for grabbing a much-needed moment to yourself on a long international flight . Viewers on TikTok admired how convenient, private, and space-saving the arrangement was too (and yes, there were tons of jokes about " joining the club " in one of these secluded lavatories). For all the praise these bathrooms got, however, a few people voiced an admittedly valid concern.

"What about people with mobility issues?" asked @leadersplay2win, worried about the stairs.

"Accessibility is not a thing in this airplane." critiqued @a30043.

I don't blame their skepticism. The commercial air travel industry has historically not been kind to passengers with mobility issues , particularly wheelchair users. CNN reported that over 11,000 wheelchairs were lost or damaged by airlines in 2023 alone, and it's become such a problem that the DOT unveiled a new proposal expanding the rights of passengers with disabilities, including steep fines for airlines that damage or destroy wheelchairs. Flyers with mobility issues already have enough problems to deal with, even before considering bathroom breaks.

I think these commenters and others like them have a valid concern. Lufthansa's A340-600 seat maps show upstairs lavatories in first and business class, but the bathrooms for premium economy and economy are all downstairs. While I'd imagine that any reasonable flight attendant would allow disabled economy passengers to access the upstairs bathrooms, the apparent lack of a dedicated handicap-accessible bathroom in the economy seating area strikes me as troublesome, to say the least. It's an unfortunate flaw in what is otherwise a very cool, very unique airplane layout.

Homeless people are being sent out of Scotland's capital to make room for Swifties

  • Homeless people in Edinburgh are being relocated to make room for Taylor Swift fans.
  • People in temporary housing are being sent to Aberdeen, Glasgow, and even England.
  • The surge in visitors for Swift's shows has caused a significant increase in hotel demand.

Insider Today

A number of homeless people have been sent out of Edinburgh to make room for tourists visiting the Scottish capital for Taylor Swift's upcoming shows , according to BBC News.

Swift will perform for three nights at Murrayfield Stadium, from June 7 to 9, as part of the European leg of the "Eras" tour — the first concert tour to gross over $1 billion.

According to Edinburgh Live, some 210,000 Swifties are expected to attend the Edinburgh shows, which could bring more than $125 million to the Scottish economy.

This surge in visitors has led to a significant increase in hotel demand, according to the Daily Record.

Shelter Scotland told BBC News that a shortage in available accommodation has meant that some homeless people it supports have been relocated to other cities, such as Aberdeen and Glasgow.

The charity said that one person was even offered temporary accommodation in Newcastle, across the border in England.

In a statement provided to Business Insider, Shelter Scotland's director, Alison Watson, said that people experiencing homelessness have been put in "direct competition" with tourists.

Related stories

She described the situation as a "blatant injustice."

"It simply should not be the case that hosting a major event at Murrayfield has significant knock-on effects for people experiencing homelessness in Edinburgh," Watson added.

Late last year, Edinburgh became the first city council in Scotland to declare a housing emergency . This month, the Scottish government declared a national housing emergency .

In Scotland, people declared homeless must legally be offered emergency temporary accommodation, which can include hotels.

In an email to BI, a spokesperson for the City of Edinburgh Council said it is not moving tenants out of temporary accommodation to make way for Swifties.

Instead, they said the council was struggling to secure available accommodation for homeless residents during the"Eras" tour weekend.

In a statement, the council's housing convenor, Jane Meagher, said: "It is a symptom of the housing emergency we face in Edinburgh that at times we must use tourist accommodation to house homeless households."

"We know it won't be available year-round," she added, "particularly over the busy summer months, so we use it reluctantly as a last resort."

Meagher said the council is working with affected households to find appropriate, alternative accommodation.

Taylor Swift's representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Homeless people in Scotland pushed out to make room for Taylor Swift fans attending her Eras Tour

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.

Homeless people in Edinburgh, Scotland, are reportedly being pushed out of the city in order to make room for the massive influx of tourists expected to travel there for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in June.

Shelter Scotland  informed the BBC Wednesday that several homeless people the charity supports were moved via taxi to Glasgow, Aberdeen and Newcastle to free up accommodations. The latter cities are more than two hours away from their original stays in Edinburgh.

Homeless people who reportedly were offered temporary housing at hotels were moved out because there was a “severe shortage in accommodation caused by the concert.”

Shelter Scotland called it “a blatant injustice” for those affected to be “in direct competition” with tourists.

The charity’s director Alison Watson added, “Our frontline services are already seeing people in need of a bed tonight being told their only option is to leave of the city.

“A family going through the trauma of homelessness in Edinburgh should not have to move miles from their job, school, and community to find emergency accommodation.”

A crowd at Taylor Swift's concert.

Per the BBC, Edinburgh City Council denied moving homeless people who were already staying at the temporary accommodations. It appears, though, that those waiting for a new spot were affected.

Housing convenor Councillor Jane Meagher said in a statement, “We’re aware of the situation and are working with the affected households to find appropriate, alternative accommodation.”

Page Six has reached out to Swift’s rep for comment but did not immediately hear back.

The pop superstar, 34, is currently in Madrid, where she performed in front of pals Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds on Wednesday night.

She wrapped up her last show in the Spanish capital Thursday and is then heading to Lyon, France, for the next stop of the international leg of her Eras Tour. Her first show in Edinburgh is scheduled for June 7.

Several Swifties from all over the world are reportedly flying into Europe for her concerts there because tickets are allegedly cheaper than in their home countries.

The Associated Press reported earlier this month that Americans bought 20 percent of the tickets for the “Wildest Dreams” singer’s four sold-out shows in Paris .

About 10,000 US concertgoers reportedly also bought tickets for her Eras Tour shows in Stockholm .

Melanie Fish, an Expedia spokesperson and travel expert, said at the time that fans realized, “‘Wait a minute, I can either spend $1,500 to go see my favorite artist in Miami, or I can take that $1,500 and buy a concert ticket, a round-trip plane ticket, and three nights in a hotel room.'”

It’s unclear whether Americans are part of the many tourists expected to attend the Edinburgh shows.
