I have done 11 trips with Bunnik, great work by Victoria Hearn and now under the guidance of Paul Mck. Number 12 coming up soon. The work undertaken by the staff in Adelaide is the best, all my requests for extra nights, flight upgrades, extended stays well catered for; the guides on 10 of my trips were the best, only let down by a hopeless woman last year in Portugal/Spain. May do the trip again, if I'm guaranteed a better guide. Recommend Bunnik to anyone who will listen to me and look at my 12,000 + photos....

From our initial enquiry to receiving our travelling documents we have felt very confident with every step booking our holiday with Bunniks. This is our first booking with Bunniks. Staff were helpful in booking the tour and follow up questions. They organised the airline that was most appropriate and times that suited best.

Firstly- I booked the tour and then was told/ the all inclusive deal with air and land package was actually only for Australians!!! I had to fight as a New Zealander to have my flights included even though I always said I was flying out of Sydney. Also I still have not received baggage labels etc as bunnies only mail within Australia!!! Honestly how much does mail cost when you have spent over $30,000 with a your company, Otherwise was straightforward payment wise and emails were always replied to very quickly. Will be interesting- we have done may small group tours which to date have all been excellent/ so hope this continues!

Great tour options and coordination of travel

Excellent variety of tours offered and the fact the group size is capped at 20 is a big plus. Having previously toured with Bunnik, we had no hesitation in booking another two tours. Our travel specialist did a great job coordinating all our travel needs including the extra travel arrangements to catch up with our family in Italy once our tours finished.

Turkey, the European bridge to the silk road

Once I have registered for a tour and paid my deposit your emails could be more focused and concise. For example a more direct run down on what to expect and when. And it would be convenient if this is in the email, not an attachment with multiple pictures which make the email indecipherable unless its downloaded fully. You must remember that although Australia is supposed to be a 1st world country, with modern internet it is actually not. The distances make internet coverage variable and in some cases unreliable, not all of us live in cities, and some of us live more than a days journey from the capital of our state. Furthermore, I know for generation Ys or whatever, friendly fluffy spiel with difficult to gleen relevant information is the trend of the day, but when its international travel costing thousands and not all of us regularly hop on an international flight every 6 months. then the protocols involved are new to us OR probably changed from the last time we did this. Therefore, a precise and concise itemized run down would be good. The link you gave us regarding the tour was a generic link to all the tours of this nature and did not specify my tour. It is now a week before I leave, and I still don't have the e tickets or whatever is acceptable now. I don't think the check in counter will accept a Bunnik tours "your trip" outline of the flights, or will they? There doesn't seem to be a bar code or QR code. So, on your itemized email it would be nice to be told stuff like this: 1. in x days you will be sent the flight specifications and a summary of your travel itinerary. 2. One month prior to your flight you will need to apply for a visa at this link......... 3. During your visit to Turkey it will be the beginning of summer with average temperatures of xx plus or minus x. In the mountains however it could be XX cooler. You will need (or not?) firm comfortable walking shoes, a light rain coat (?) and warm jacket, perhaps a beanie for the mountains, and modest attire is recommended. Sandals are/or not? recommended for XXX. 4. Most of your hotels will have wifi (or not?) 5. X days before your flight you will receive your e tickets. (we still dont have them). And so on. Concise with no unnecessary elaboration. In addition, as I mentioned before this sort of trip for most people is not a regular thing and being inundated by your email advertisements for other trips is a bit overwhelming, plus trying to find the relevant emails to my specific trip in amongst the adverts is time consuming and annoying. I thus unsubscribed, hoping I would not miss out on important information. For me this trip is to finish an adventure which I started in 2019 traveling the silk road starting in China and finishing in Uzbekistan. I went with a tour group called Global Gypsies (a small company now retired) and their tour information was incredible. It included a meeting point for the first day; a suggested packing list (on reviewing this I will use it for your tour); general information; max min temps during visit for all regions visited, of which there were 11; what currency is best; recommended reading; fast facts; a total of 36 very comprehensive pages. I don't have a digital copy of this or I would send it to you as an example. My friend and I chose you because firstly you were going where we wanted to go and secondly you have a good reputation. However some refining of your pre tour information would be beneficial.

My opinion of the service I received from Bunnik 2 star

I spoke to Vicki about my tri to Japan. I then paid for my trip and have had no contact with Vicki or anybody else. There were occasions when I needed guidance on things like travel insurance and Vicki was never available. I certainly wouldn’t say the service supplied was anything other than 2 star treatment from Bunnik

China’s Golden Week Holiday: What’s Driving Outbound Travel

Understanding what Chinese travelers want is crucial for stakeholders in the tourism industry to tailor offerings and experiences that match these changing preferences.

Destinations in the Middle East are emerging as favorites for China’s upcoming May Day holiday, commonly known as Golden Week.

Overall outbound travel from China during this year’s holiday is still lagging behind 2019 levels by 13%. But travel to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has surged by 66%, and Turkey has experienced a significant growth of 56%, according to ticket sales data from ForwardKeys.

Increased seat capacity from Africa and the Middle East, which is set to expand by 75% in the second quarter, has led to this surge in travel.

Corresponding increases in seat capacity to China have backed the travel growth rates of 56% to Turkey, 19% to Italy, and 12% to the UK.

Last month, Trip.com, China’s biggest online travel agency, announced record bookings in Abu Dhabi, exceeding 57,000 room nights over the past 12 months. From 2022 to 2023, outbound travel orders across all products from Chinese travelers to the UAE surged by more than threefold.

Chinese outbound travel to Middle East had already reached pre-pandemic levels during the Chinese New Year period in February.

Pre-Pandemic Travel Patterns

ForwardKeys anticipates that the May holiday will witness notable travel peaks around April 27 and May 1, closely resembling pre-pandemic travel patterns.

In the Asian region, Malaysia has emerged as the top-performing destination for Chinese travelers, with flight bookings currently 42% ahead of 2019 levels. Because of more lenient visa policies, including visa-free travel to Malaysia and Singapore, and streamlined procedures for South Korea, travel to these destinations is expected to surpass 2019 levels in May.

These findings align with insights from Dragon Trail’s Chinese Traveler Sentiment Report , releasing later on Wednesday. According to the report, visa-free policies, direct flights, and simplified application procedures are also making outbound travel more appealing and accessible.

According to ForwardKeys, a notable shift in passenger profiles is the decrease in group travellers, which has dropped by 53% compared to 2019 levels. In contrast, solo travellers are showing a strong interest in exploring Asian destinations, with a 9% increase.

The Dragon Trail report also highlights growing preference for independent travel among Chinese tourists. Travelers also prefer, semi-self-guided travel and boutique groups of 6-10 people, which offer flexibility and convenience.

Value-Oriented Approach

Along with flexibility and convenience, Chinese travelers are also seeking relaxation and comfort in their trips.

Amidst the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic and China’s economic downturn in 2023, Chinese travelers are prioritizing relaxation and comfort in their trips.

The economic pressures have led to a value-oriented approach to travel planning, with a majority carefully considering their spending to maximize value and opting for affordable travel options.

Around 20% of respondents who said they would not travel outbound in 2024 cite limited income as a barrier. Only a small percentage (11%) are willing to pay a premium for superior products and services.

Most travelers allocate less than 20% of their income for travel, with budgets typically ranging from RMB10,000 to RMB30,000 for upcoming trips.

Despite budget-consciousness, shopping remains an integral part of outbound travel, with more than two-thirds of travelers spending a minimum of RMB2,000 (US$276) per trip. Local foods and souvenirs are the primary shopping categories, followed by cosmetics, clothing, shoes and bags.
