About the artist
A long-time environmentalist who joined his wife Kim in co-founding Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation, a non-profit devoted to supporting environmental education, Jack has found immense purpose in caring for his community. This has included, most recently, working on and developing a learning farm. Jack is a long-term supporter of the Eden Project and Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation will be highlighted at the show with a call to action on the climate emergency in conjunction with Eden.
Jack’s decades-spanning career has included multiple awards and two Grammy nominations, more than 25 million album units sold worldwide, and countless sold-out tours, during which he has emerged as a leading force in greening the global touring industry.
Jack’s eighth studio album and first new full-length in five years, Meet The Moonlight, affirms him as an essential voice in elevating our perspective and subtly guiding us toward a more expansive state of mind.
In a departure from his past work, most of the album took shape from one-on-one collaboration with producer Blake Mills, an intimate and highly experimental process that involved embedding Jack’s elegantly stripped-back arrangements with enchanting sonic details.
Special guest: Hollie Cook
Hollie Cook is the queen of modern-day “lovers rock” — the lush girly harmony reggae style beloved in Britain since the 1970s. However, touring as a teenager with punk legends The Slits encouraged the fierceness within her sweetness. Hollie’s mentor was Ari Up, the band’s lead singer and a lifelong friend of Cook’s parents (Sex Pistols drummer Paul and her singer mother Jeni).
She has released four studio albums, beginning with her eponymous debut LP in 2011, as well as singles including Milk & Honey, Superstar and Postman.
5x15 talks: Food Matters
- Venue: Ground floor, Core Building
- Admission: Free, no booking required
We're excited to be hosting a very special 5x15 event on food and the environment, to mark the Eden Project’s Food Matters campaign. Come to the Core before the Session starts to hear some fascinating speakers.
The signature format of a 5x15 event sees 4 speakers each having 15 minutes to tell a relevant, entertaining and expert story. These events have been going for 12 years, featuring over 1,400 incredible speakers, including Jeremy Irons, Emma Watson, Billie Eilish and David Gilmour. Check out their YouTube channel here .
The 'Food Matters' theme for this event ties in with Eden's programme that communicates the story of food, presents the challenges and solutions, takes a local and global view and provides visitors with hope, agency and tangible actions. Food is a great enabler of positive change for the planet and revolutionising the way we produce and consume food can help fix the planetary emergency.

He is Self-Care Lead at the College of Medicine and has helped set up Our Health Directory as an evidence-based resource for all. He has been listed in Who's Who since 2013.

Smooth crooner Jack Johnson is heading back to the UK after nearly five years for his Meet The Moonlight Tour.
The Better Together singer will finish off his world tour at London’s Hammersmith Apollo on 21st June 2023, and will also take part in the Eden Project’s Eden Sessions two days later on 23th June.
Jack, who lives in Hawaii, hasn’t performed in the UK since 2017, and said in a statement: “I am looking forward to returning to the UK to gather together and share songs.
“It’s exciting and heartwarming to be so welcomed in a beautiful city like London, which is on the opposite side of the globe from where I live.”
Environmental activism is close to Jack’s heart, with his Meet The Moonlight World Tour working closely with venues to promote sustainability.
Those initiatives include energy conservation, sourcing of local food and plastic free initiatives, including reusable models and water refill stations.
Jack’s team is also proud to promote Eventim Apollo’s reusable cup program to reduce single-use plastic waste. In addition to taking strides to reduce the carbon footprint of the tour, £1 pound of every ticket purchase will support local climate solutions.
When speaking about single, the former professional surfer said: “We’re at a point where human nature hasn’t changed but the technology around us has changed dramatically, and it’s getting to this dangerous place where the most extreme and sensationalised opinions have the potential to be heard by so many people.”
To catch some Jack Johnson and more relaxed vibes, make sure you tune in to Virgin Radio Chilled on your DAB radio, on the Virgin Radio App or virginradio.co.uk.
Jack Johnson will be playing at London’s Eventim Apollo on June 21st 2023. Pre-sale tickets available Wednesday 16 November at 9am hand general tickets on sale Friday 18 November at 9am here .

Jack Johnson is returning to the UK for his first concert in five years.
The Hawaii-born, Californian-based singer-songwriter has already completed dates in North America, Australia, New Zealand, Chile and Brazil as part of his ‘Meet The Moonlight Tour’, and next he’ll play London’s Hammersmith Eventim Apollo on June 21, 2023.

Released in June, Johnson’s eighth studio album , Meet The Moonlight , was produced by Lana Del Rey’s studio wizard Blake Mills, who Jack credits with helping to push himself outside of his comfort zone.
He said in a statement regarding his first LP since 2017’s All The Light Above It Too : “When Blake and I first got in touch we’d send each other playlists, and over time we realized we were drawn to music that sounds effortless despite all the effort put into making it.
“After a while we got a language together and I gained a trust in him that allowed me to let go, push outside my comfort zone, and get to a sound I really loved.”
Earlier this year, the artist played a special performance on Earth Day (April 22), at the Kōkua Learning Farm – an educational and agricultural destination located in the heart of Haleʻiwa, Hawaii. The farm is part of the latest project of Johnson’s Kōkua Hawaii Foundation which is establishing agricultural, educational, and retail activities that promote local food, waste reduction, and environmental stewardship.

Live Review: Jack Johnson – 21st June 2023 – Eventim Apollo, London, UK
Last night, Jack Johnson graced the Hammersmith Apollo for the first of a two-night, sold out stint. The night kicked off in a suitably chill, rhythmic fashion with Dub outfit Hollie Cook. Urging the crowd to dance along to ‘warm up’, her and backing band General Roots cruised through originals and covers, moving from start to finish. Jack’s entrances was met by thunderous applause. The simple set up of the four-piece works well, embracing the country feel of opener Mudfootball . Sitting, Waiting, Wishing breezed in on a wave of crowd vocals.
The solo cameras centred on each member of the band added to moments such as the honky-tonk piano solo in their song, helping the emphasise the musicians abilities. ‘We’ll be taking requests tonight’ Jack says ‘remind me again later’. Joking or not, he launched into fan favourite Flake . Visuals of ocean life accompanied the song, adding to its dreamy quality. Clap-alongs and sultry lights elevate One Step Ahead , as well as Bubble Toes , both of which were known inside and out by the fans. Upside Down came as a midpoint surprise, Jack showing off some of his finest acoustic guitar skills and a four-point harmony gracing the bridge.
‘We gotta save a couple of those till later’ Jack said upon seeing signs made by people in the front row. ‘I’ve seen what happens. People make out and then go home.’ Instead, he went into Middle Man , a deep cut off of his seminal debut. He playfully mixed it with Pink Floyd’s Breathe , before jumping straight back into his own number. After the song Jack told the story of how David Gilmore came to see them at the Apollo years before, and then finally opened up the show to requests, the first of which was Go On . ‘I love giving my band a pop quiz’.
‘What has become of me?’ A member of the stage crew brought on a selection of bottles, ready for Jack to play. New song Costume Party doesn’t quite live up to the story surrounding the bottles, but it’s still an entertaining time. Constellations and Breakdown mellowed out the crowd, just in time for Jack to reintroduce Hollie Cook to the stage for a cover of The Shangri-Las’s Remember (Walking in the Rain) . Things ended fittingly with banana pancakes, Jack and the band seeming happy to finish on was is his biggest hit, as well as throwing in a Sex Pistols cover to boot. Certainly a crowd-pleasing affair.

Writer and Musician, Ryan Bulbeck has been published with a number of online publications, and has worked with a myriad of great artists, both as a performer, and as a producer. His most recent band The 295 are still active, playing shows around the UK.

Jack Johnson announces first UK show in 5 years
Jack Johnson
Jack Johnson will return to London next summer to play a bound-to-sell-out show at London's Hammersmith Eventim Apollo.
"It's exciting and heartwarming to be so welcomed in a beautiful city like London, which is on the opposite side of the globe from where I live."
Released in June, the 47-year-old singer-songwriter's eighth studio album, 'Meet The Moonlight', was produced by Lana Del Rey's studio wizard Blake Mills, who Jack credits with helping to push himself outside of his comfort zone.
He said in a statement regarding his first LP since 2017's 'All The Light Above It Too': “When Blake and I first got in touch we’d send each other playlists, and over time we realised we were drawn to music that sounds effortless despite all the effort put into making it.
“After a while we got a language together and I gained a trust in him that allowed me to let go, push outside my comfort zone, and get to a sound I really loved.”
Pre-sale tickets are available Wednesday, 16 November at 9am. General tickets are on sale Friday, 18 November at 9am via premier.ticketek.co.uk

Full results for iconic World Championship as O'Sullivan goes OUT
Stuart Bingham off another incredible feat at the World Snooker Championships - by catching a fly mid-frame.
Mid-match, he showed his reflexes are just as incredible as his ability to sink shots by catching a fly buzzing around the table.
Bingham got frustrated with the bug flying around and caught it in his right hand with a burst of speed and hand-eye coordination.
After realising what he'd done, fans in attendance at The Crucible burst into laughter before quickly falling silent for him to resume play.
Even the commentators were taken aback, with one saying: "Good catch. Nothing wrong with his reflexes either, John."
There is nothing to separate the four semi-finalists as we stand.
Kyren Wilson 4-4 David Gilbert
Stuart Bingham 4-4 Jak Jones
It should be another exciting day of action as we see two sessions from the match between Wilson vs Gilbert and one session from Bingham vs Jones.
Today's schedule
The two tantalisingly close semi-finals are back out today with Kyren Wilson vs David Gilbert up first.
Semi-finals (best of 33)
10am: Kyren Wilson 4-4 David Gilbert
2.30pm: Stuart Bingham 4-4 Jak Jones
7pm: Kyren Wilson (12) v David Gilbert
No doubting ability of surprise four
Before the tournament started, nobody would have predicted this to be our final four for the semi-finals.
There have been shocks and upsets along the way but the first sessions of the semis showed why this quartet are here.
Some great cueing, potting and safety play was on show for all to see.
The spectators in The Crucible certainly got their money's worth and today's play should be no different.
Semis finely poised for next sessions
It has been a great day of snooker at The Crucible today.
Rocket puts doubt over future appearances
Ronnie O'Sullivan has asked whether we will see him playing at The Crucible next year due to his overseas commitments:
World Snooker is a commercial business and I decided I had to be commercial to enjoy being on the Tour. I don’t just turn up to events, there is a tax to be paid and if people are prepared to pay it I will get my cue out of its case. If not I am content to never ever play again and do other stuff. I am contracted to do certain events and my own shows in China, I am contracted to go to Saudi Arabia so they have first dibs and then it is spending time at home with my family. Ronnie O'Sullivan World number one
Bingham rues simple pot
Stuart Bingham will be wondering what could have been.
With the score at 3-0, he missed a simple blue into the middle bag to then see Jones clear up and take the frame.
From that point he came back to tie the match at 3-3.
Bingham stopped the rot, going 4-3 up, but Jones won the last frame to level at the end of the session.
Just as in the semi-final, they end the session tied at 4-4.
Jones wins the last frame by a score of 72-15.
Considering he was 3-0 down at one stage, it is a brilliant performance by Jak Jones.
