Darwin City Explorer, known locally as the Tour Tub, has been showcasing Darwin’s top sites and attractions since 1985.

We were Darwin’s original hop-on, hop-off bus. Two of our open-sided buses sometimes make an appearance on a City Explorer Tour during Darwin’s dry season, but they are more often used for celebrations, events, and functions. Our regular tours use our air-conditioned coaster buses, which can carry a maximum of 20 passengers. The Darwin City Explorer tour is the most comprehensive in town.

Pick-up begins from your city accommodation at 9.00am. The 5-hour experience takes in all of Darwin’s major attractions, from the WWII Oil Storage Tunnels, Museum and Art Gallery of NT, and Darwin Military Museum to the Qantas Hangar and Darwin Aviation Museum (and lunch at the Parap Markets on Saturday), with all entrance fees included. Along the way, our expert local guide will tell you about the people, facts, and antidotes that have shaped the city. They can also answer your questions about Darwin and the Top End. The tour includes pick-ups and drop-offs at your city accommodation, or for an additional AUD$10.00pp we’ll meet you at your caravan park.

Hop On Hop Off Darwin Bus Tours

• Litchfield National Park: The national park is full of wildlife and bird life that cannot be seen anywhere else in the world! After exploring the park, take a drive down to Mindil Beach Markets at sunset for some local color and delicious food.
• Crocodylus Park: It is one of the few places in Australia where visitors can get up close with crocs! Plus it is a great spot for rock climbing, kayaking, quad biking, fishing, or horse riding.
• Cavenagh Street Jetty: This is where you will find some amazing views of Darwin Harbor and it's only minutes from downtown.

• Nightcliff Shopping Centre: Here you will find many different shops including restaurants, stores, coffee shops and a supermarket. At night there are many different events such as live music performances and fashion shows.
• Casuarina Shopping Centre: This shopping centre features fashion boutiques as well as supermarkets and cafes. It has an undercover car park to make it safer for shoppers at night.
• Palmerston Shopping Centre : this shopping centre has more than 100 specialty stores including clothing boutiques, jewellery stores, shoe stores and beauty salons. There is also a food court with lots of dining options including McDonald's, KFC and Subway outlets.

We usually check out the hop on/off tour bus and Darwin was no exception. We managed to incorporate both museums into the day trip and really maximized the ticket use. Oddly enough, the hop on/off bus map seemed to be the only map of the city …!

All the museums excellent and Cullen Bay. Best to jump on bus at 9am so you can see more . Allow enough time at the Cyclone Tracy museum and the Army Museum lots to see.

The bus was a great way to travel around Darwins Beaches, Tourist Attractions and suburbs -a very informative commentary and the driers were friendly. A must do when in Darwin.

We hopped off at the Darwin Gallery & Museum which was beautifully presented & most educational, for adults & children alike. We also hopped off at the Waterfront where we enjoyed lunch in one of the lovely restaurants & a fun swim in the Wave Pool Being a Thursday we were able to time it well to hop off at the Mindil Markets to enjoy the huge range of food delights & the handcrafts. We were impressed with the recorded commentary, much better than having to fiddle with ear plugs to listen.

Upstairs was great and the tour around the city gave us a outline of thd city. The commentary was good and the fact that the bus ran to a schedule meant you could plan your day. Thanks
