NYX lip gloss is one of the most hyped products in the makeup world. I see their Butter Gloss rated as the #1 lip gloss in the world. I’ve tried multiple lip products of theirs. I have to admit, some are better than others. If you’re new to NYX lip gloss, you may not know which lip glosses you should buy. Read my best NYX lip gloss guide for my product recommendations.

The Butter Gloss is one of NYX’s highest-rated lip glosses, which is why it’s the one that I recommend the most. Butter Gloss has some of the widest color selections that I’ve seen in lip gloss. It also is pretty long-lasting. I do suggest reading through the rest of my article and discovering NYX’s entire lip gloss line.

NYX has a massive lip gloss collection. I will be listing all of their 16 different lip glosses! To find the best one, you should know some of these lip gloss buying factors.

You can find numerous lip gloss colors, especially in NYX’s collection. They offer colorless glosses and natural colors. But NYX is also renowned for its dark and bright lip gloss colors.

It’s important to know which color to choose for a few reasons. If you’re looking for a simple gloss to keep in your purse, you’ll likely want a natural color. Even if you want something more pigmented, you should also consider your skin tones and undertones to know which shades will look good on you.

I also suggest having a lip gloss color wardrobe. I have several lip gloss colors, all ranging from natural to extremely dark. Since NYX offers every lip gloss color imaginable, you can buy various lip gloss colors and mix and match them!

As stated previously, choose a natural gloss that offers moisturizing properties if you want daily lip gloss. Keep it in your purse and swipe it on whenever you need it.

Natural lip glosses are also most appropriate for workplace settings. If you plan on wearing lip gloss to an extravagant event, choose a pigmented gloss. These events may include a date, a night out with friends, or a fine event.

One of my favorite aspects of lip gloss is how they make your lips look plump and wet, even if you only wear a colorless gloss. But lip glosses can come in various finishes. These include:

How I Chose These Lip Glosses

As I said, I will be mentioning NYX’s whole lip gloss range to ensure you find the right lip gloss for you. But there are some lip glosses I like more than others, which is why I will be mentioning the pros and cons of each product. In addition, I will base my criteria on these key factors.

All NYX lip glosses have different customer ratings. I will take popularity and HG faves into consideration when listing these products.

While I find some customers are pretty critical in their reviews, you can learn a lot about product reviews. Keep in mind that I will also mention my experience with these products and whether or not I agree with the other reviewers.

NYX offers some of the widest lip gloss color options than the competition. However, some of NYX’s glosses offer more colors than others.

With the color selection, I looked at the various shades offered in lip gloss and if NYX makes colors for all wearers. While lip gloss colors tend to be opaque, I prioritized the lip glosses that are more pigmented than others.

One of the struggles of lip gloss is making it stay put. While I found the Butter Gloss lasts longer than the average gloss, it’s still nothing impressive. Still, I mentioned some of NYX’s longer-lasting lip glosses first. I also mentioned if any NYX glosses slide off or if the color feathers.

Are you ready to pick out your new favorite NYX lip gloss? Here’s a breakdown of their entire lip gloss catalog and which ones I recommend.

There’s a reason why I’m mentioning this one first. It’s a fan favorite and their highest-rated lip gloss. Actually, I may argue that this is their highest-rated product in general. The main reason I love this lip gloss is the color selection. If you want a natural-looking gloss, NYX offers every color for each skin tone and undertone.

I have the Butter Gloss in shade Praline . It’s a neutral-toned medium beige color that looks great on my pale skin. I recommend these shades if you want a gloss to keep in your purse during the daytime.

If you want a Butter Gloss to wear on a date or on a night out with friends, NYX offers so many shades for you. There are various red colors, from creamy ruby Red Velvet to bright red Apple Crisp. NYX even offers bright colors, such as Orangesicle, Summerfruit (vibrant pink), and even Blueberry Tart (yes it’s blue).

These glosses are also some of the most affordable on the market. These only go for $5; you can purchase several colors and still not break the bank.

I reviewed the Butter Gloss a few months ago. While I liked this gloss, there are definite downsides. First, these aren’t moisturizing at all. A couple of hours after wearing them, my lips started getting dry. I washed the gloss off and replaced it with my chapstick.

Moisture is something I look for in a lip gloss, so I tend to use different lip gloss brands or even just my handy dandy chapstick as my daily gloss.

• Lasts a pretty long time (about two hours for me)
• Tendency to discontinue shades
• Not the most smoothing lip gloss

I haven’t tried this lip gloss , but I’m reading it offers everything that Butter Gloss doesn’t. First, these glosses are very moisturizing. They’re formulated with vegan milk so your lips feel soft and the consistency of the gloss is very creamy.

I also love the color selection. While the Milky Gloss doesn’t have as many colors as the Butter Gloss, they’re available in funky colors with a glassy finish. For example, Mango Lassi looks pale yellow. They do have some neutrals; I love Choco Latte Shake, which is a rich brown. Keep in mind that some aren’t pigmented at all. The Mint Choc Chip Shake looks clear, not green.

These glosses do have a scent; I’m reading they smell like milkshakes. I don’t mind scented lip gloss, but I know this is a con for some consumers. These are slightly more expensive than the Butter Gloss. The Milky Gloss is $8.50, which still isn’t terribly priced.

• Doesn’t last as long as the Butter Gloss

Serving up milkshake shine. Introducing This is Milky Gloss, a hydrating lip gloss for ultra-glassy shine with 12 milkshake flavors. This cruelty-free formula is infused with dairy free vegan milk for up to 12 hours of quenching hydration.

If shiny lip gloss is what you like, I recommend the This Is Juice gloss .

This lip gloss is infused with five electrolytes plus a combination of grape seed, rosa canina, avocado, and jojoba seed oils as well as squalane to keep lips hydrated. The electrolytes are important because they balance the skin’s pH levels, ensuring your lips stay hydrated.

There’s a reason these are called the Juice Gloss. Your lips feel juicy and moist, never sticky. Keep in mind that the glosses still feel heavy on the lips. I don’t really like a heavy gloss, so that’s why I’m mentioning this detail.

They are $8 each, which is more expensive than the Butter Gloss but still won’t break the bank. There are a few color options, though these glosses aren’t as pigmented as the Butter Glosses. These glosses do have a scent, which I know some people don’t like.

Lips get juiced with vegan electrolyte-infused color! Featuring 8 juicy flavors to drench lips in shine for 12-hour hydration.

This is one of those lip glosses that have color on one end, and the other end is a clear gloss top coat. Like Butter Gloss, these lip glosses are available in so many colors. But I recommend these glosses if you truly want a pigmented gloss. There are some light colors, such as the nude-pink Born to Hustle. There are also darker colors, such as the rich brown Boundary Pusher.

As far as the top gloss is concerned, it gives a nice glassy appearance to the color and doesn’t feel sticky. There are some downsides to these glosses. Some complained that the colors aren’t accurate to what you see in the pictures. These are also very drying on your lips.

Simply swipe on the pigment-packed base coat for a pop of loud color, let dry, then add the top coat—a long-lasting lip gloss—for a non-sticky finish.

For the quality you’re getting, you’re not paying a lot of money. This lip conditioner is $7 and contains Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil to soothe your lips.

While I’m reading this isn’t as moisturizing as other similar lip products, it’s great if you want something simple and affordable. This lip conditioner is also very versatile. You can wear it with any makeup look, keep it in your purse, or you can wear it as an overnight lip treatment.

The gloss doesn’t feel sticky or heavy on your lips. It dries down and absorbs quickly, perfect if you don’t want something too glossy.

• Reviewers said there are more moisturizing products out there

This is actually a limited edition Butter Gloss shade for the Netflix show  Sex Education . Juicy Secret is a universal nude shade. Like all other Butter Gloss products, this glides on easily and isn’t sticky. It does have a scent, but I actually like the dessert scents of the Butter Gloss.

These limited edition lip glosses are available in several colors, all made with micro-duochrome pearls for extra sparkly lips. These glosses are fun, but I wouldn’t recommend them for daily wear or if you want something moisturizing.

These glosses are interesting because they have a creamy texture, thanks to vegan milk. While the glosses do feel sticky at first, they quickly dry down and have a creamier feeling. The vegan milk is also very moisturizing on the lips.

All of these glosses are available in unique shades. While Milk n’ Hunny is a popular neutral shade, these glosses are also available in vivid colors. I like Lilac Splash, which is a pale purple color. All of the colors are buildable and have a shiny finish. The glosses do have a scent, which I’m reading is described as sweet and not overwhelming.

If you just want a simple moisturizing lip balm, this is the product for you . It has a silky formula and is made with hydrating ingredients. The moisturizing properties last for hours. I would try this, but I hate the packaging. I avoid these lip balm tins like the plague.

Grabbing the stuff out with my fingers is weird, and these things get so dirty. I also hate having that balm on my fingers. This gloss also has a vanilla-cherry blossom scent, which I would think smells nice but reviewers say it smells gross.

Even though this is one of NYX’s most underrated lip glosses, I’ve heard it’s one of their best . That’s because of the texture. The glosses are shiny but never sticky. There are only two shades: clear and sable, a neutral light-toned brown.

Both are perfect if you want a simple gloss for an everyday look. There are also two product alternatives you can try: a glitter or a shimmer gloss. The only downside is the taste is bad. Some reviewers said it tastes like soap. Plus, this isn’t the most moisturizing lip gloss.

Question: I like NYX’s Intense Butter Gloss but Can’t Find it on the website! What Happened?

Answer: NYX’s Intense Butter Gloss has been discontinued. You can still buy the original Butter Gloss.

Answer: It has a slight plastic taste and smell, but it’s not strong and fades. The glosses do have a vanilla scent. I’m also reading that some shades have a stronger scent than others. Praline does have an obvious sweet smell, but I think it smells good.

Answer: In addition to traditional lip gloss, you can also choose a luminizing gloss, lip balm, liquid lip gloss, lip plumper, and shiny lip gloss. All of these lip glosses may be available in different colors and finishes.

Even though the Butter Gloss is one of NYX’s most hyped products, I think it’s their best lip gloss. Butter Gloss is available in many shades, including a combination of neutral, dark, and bright colors. I have the Butter Gloss in the shade Praline, which is the perfect neutral for my skin tone and undertone. This isn’t a plumping gloss, which I like, but the Butter Gloss does give your lips a great shine.

My big complaint about the Butter Gloss is it isn’t moisturizing at all and dried out my lips after only a couple of hours. If that is a concern for you, I suggest checking out the rest of NYX’s lip gloss line.
