How To Get Tickets For Beyonce's 'Formation' World Tour

Beyoncé performed alongside Coldplay at the Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show on Sunday night, and she used the performance to announce her next world tour. As if getting the "Formation" song and video on Saturday weren't enough of a beautiful surprise, the announcement about an upcoming world tour sent fans in to a frenzy. Here's how to get tickets for Beyoncé's Formation World Tour , because they're clearly necessary for life.

The Formation World Tour will begin in Miami on April 27, according to Us Weekly. Pre-sale tickets for American Express cardholders go on sale as early as Tuesday, Feb. 9, according to Complex. Regular-sale tickets will go on sale on Ticketmaster starting Tuesday, Feb. 16. Fans better get ready for the date, because tickets are sure to sell out fast in all the hype. Beyoncé will reportedly use the tour to support her sixth studio album. "Formation" was the first single from the album, and it sent people into a frenzy when the Queen (who is famous for surprises) released in unexpectedly on Saturday.

The Formation World Tour will stop in 40 cities that are evenly split throughout North America and the U.K. and Europe, according to Billboard. Though ticket prices haven't officially been released, Billboard estimated that, depending on market rates, higher-priced tickets could be as much as $250 to $300, while the cheapest tickets could go as low as $65.

Sure, $65 might not exactly break the bank for everyone, but getting those $65 tickets probably won't be easy. Queen Bey's last tour with husband Jay Z sold out in many cities across the U.S. and grossed more than $100 million, according to Billboard.

Fans were a mixture of happy and nervous. Twitter reactions hilariously captured how people wanted to see Beyoncé perform, but many said that they probably wouldn't be able to afford tickets. The struggle was real for many fans.

But, still, many of them were more than ready to throw Beyoncé their money.

Fans are caught between excitement and sadness, because a new Beyoncé tour will mean eating Ramen and sticking to Netflix binge sessions as a cheap weekend activity. I know I'm not just speaking for myself. Thank you, Beyoncé, but also, damn you for being so great.

Beyonce's Formation World Tour Was Her Highest-Selling Yet

Beyoncé just completed the final leg of her "Formation Tour" at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey - and according to a report, its her most successful yet.

Billboard Boxscore reports that the tour took in over $256,084,556 and sold 2.2 million tickets. That outdoes the Mrs. Carter World Tour from 2013-2014, which raked in $229.7 million. It's also currently the 9th-highest-selling tour of the decade, standing only behind superstars like U2 , AC/DC and Bruce Springsteen .

Beyoncé released the music video for "Formation" to controversy because of its pro-black messaging in February, and performed the song at the Super Bowl the following day. As soon as she stepped off-stage, a commercial announced the tour, which was set to begin in Miami on April 27.

Lemonade , Bey's tour de force visual album revolving around around an empowering story of a woman persevering her husband's infidelity, premiered on HBO on April 23 before hitting Tidal and iTunes shortly after. The tour began four days later, with DJ Khaled as the opening act.

Billboard reports that two sellout shows at London's Wembley Stadium on July 2-3 brought in $15.3 million and sold 142,500 tickets, making the most successful stop on the tour. Two sellout shows at Citi Field in New York City made $11.5 million and sold 73,486, making it the highest-grossing stop in North America.

Beyoncé also gave a sneak peak at the tour with at award shows. She glided through a medley of Lemonade tracks at the VMAs , and rocked an internet-breaking performance of "Freedom" with Kendrick Lamar at the BET Awards.

Tour promoter Arthur Fogel, chairman of Live Nation’s Global Touring division, gave kudos to Beyoncé for her "rabid, committed fan base." The tour received kudos for its production value, but Bey brought it with her vocals and dancing as well.

“When everybody acknowledges the greatness of the production but, more than that, everybody is blown away by her, that’s the ultimately skill,” Fogel told Billboard . “To not only use the platform of a great production, but to rise above it as a performer and artist, that’s her incredibly unique quality.”

The success of the Formation Tour is also substantial because of Bey's new public dedication to social justice. Some critics thought that the messaging behind the music video and Super Bowl performance of "Formation" would hurt the sales of the tour, and she has received both praise and criticism for her part of the movement, but Beyoncé held her ground. She released a statement about police brutality in July after the killings of Philando Castile and Alton Sterling, and  raised at least $82,000 for victims of the Flint water crisis by allowing ticket buyers to donate. She is also part-owner of Tidal, which  donated $1.5 million to Black Lives Matter and other organizations. All of this, while grinding out the biggest tour of her career, and creating her most ambitious release yet.

Just another day at the office for Queen Bey.

Beyonce's Formation Tour Made Over $250M

Beyonce ’s stadium  Formation World Tour  wrapped Oct. 7 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., as an unqualified blockbuster, taking in over $256,084,556 and selling 2.2 million tickets, according to Billboard Boxscore . The tour, which began April 27 at Marlins Park in Miami, averaged a whopping $5.2 million in gross and 45,757 paid attendance per show.

Tour promoter Arthur Fogel , chairman of Live Nation’s Global Touring division, calls Beyonce an “amazing performer” with a “rabid, committed fan base.”

The highest-grossing stop on the tour came from two sellouts at London’s Wembley Stadium July 2-3 that took in $15.3 million and sold 142,500 tickets. Earlier in the run, an $11.5 million take from two sellouts at New York’s City’s Citi Field took in $11.5 million and moved 73,486 tickets as the highest-grossing dates in North America.

The tour received high marks for its extravagant production, but Fogel points out that Beyonce “rose above the spectacle” in her performances. “When everybody acknowledges the greatness of the production but, more than that, everybody is blown away by her, that’s the ultimate skill,” he says. “To not only use the platform of a great production, but to rise above it as a performer and artist, that’s her incredibly unique quality.”

Review: ‘Formation’ World Tour, Beyoncé Through ‘Lemonade’-Tinted Glasses

formation tour seating

By Jon Caramanica

  • April 28, 2016

MIAMI — “Crazy in Love,” Beyoncé’s first solo No. 1 single, remains, even 13 years after its release, a signature — an exuberant sparring session of jubilant horns and percussive vocals, overlaid with singing that’s somehow both acrobatic and sauntering.

When she started to perform that song at Marlins Park here on Wednesday night, though, it was something else altogether: slurry, gothic, desiccated. She and several dancers had just arrived onstage in adjacent wooden boxes. From afar, they looked like a row of coffins.

But after a couple of minutes of stretching “Crazy in Love” like taffy, Beyoncé reset. There were the erupting horns. There was the familiar voice-over introduction by her husband, Jay Z. There was the megawatt smile and the cocky stroll.

After a quick detour past a disruptive fun-house mirror, Beyoncé had set everything right again.

That transition was a microcosm of this whole concert — the opening night of her 41-date “Formation” World Tour — which began at something like a funeral and ended very surely at baptism, an arc that was already familiar from “Lemonade,” the rather staggering tale of disappointment and perseverance that Beyoncé had released just days earlier as a stunning hourlong HBO special and a straightforward album.

On “Lemonade” — and perhaps in real life, though no one’s telling — Beyoncé is a love-racked naïf, newly woken to the failed state that is her marriage. The first half of the album is pure vengeance. Beyoncé has always been a fanatic about technique and structure and sheen, but on the record, for the first time, she’s a zealot about vulnerability.

She performed many of the best songs from the album here: “Sorry,” during which her backup dancers extended two indignant middle fingers; “Don’t Hurt Yourself,” during which she was backed onscreen by unforgiving flames; “Daddy Lessons,” where she sang about her pain as a sort of cross-generational inheritance.

Even more vividly, this show refracted her old catalog through the prism of “Lemonade” and its revelations. Take the anxiety of “Me, Myself and I,” from her solo debut album, “Dangerously in Love,” released in 2003, the year after she and Jay Z began dating, or the grown-folks problems captured on “Mine,” from her self-titled 2013 album . Suddenly, an alternate history of Beyoncé is available, one that de-emphasizes her exceptional voice and ruthless perfectionism and underscores her persistent unease with love.

The stage’s centerpiece was a giant rotating tower that served as a jumbo screen simulcasting the action to the cheap seats, a video-interlude delivery device (midshow, the large screen went purple as the sound system blared Prince’s “Purple Rain”) and an interactive movement partner, splitting in the middle to reveal dancers suspended in air.

At either side of the stage were smallish pens that held several dozen of Beyoncé’s loudest fans. From time to time, she would give one of them a long glance, share a laugh or offer the microphone for a shared song.

But for someone who excels at spectacle, and who conducts and executes grand-scale group activity with military precision, Beyoncé made the striking decision to spend large parts of this show alone, unvarnished under the night sky.

In these poignant moments, she seemed not particularly preoccupied with the pyrotechnics that ordinarily are used to fill stadiums (though later, there were actual fireworks). Clearly, she felt that a meditative approach to her anguish was sufficient. And indeed, in the shadow of such an overpowering emotional manifesto, some of her breezier material felt misplaced here, as did bits and pieces of songs that weren’t hers — a quick dance routine to O. T. Genasis’s “Cut It,” a needless bit of Eurythmics’s “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” pasted into her own “Sweet Dreams.”

This was mild clutter, though, especially for a pop star who is a fiery dancer and can keep up with her backing troupe at peak speed and complexity. Several times, they all strutted down a long catwalk that led to a platform in the middle of the field, holding court and striking poses along the way.

At the end of the show, that platform was covered in water, and Beyoncé and her dancers stomped and kicked and splashed in a deeply visceral display of earthy power. As on “Lemonade,” the show’s final act served as a resolution and salve — fury giving way to release.

That stretch of songs was the night’s most provocative: the new “Freedom,” with its screaming guitars; the martial “Survivor,” newly relevant; the twitchy love song “End of Time”; and the temperate ballad “Halo,” which she dedicated “to my beautiful husband,” adding, “I love you so much.”

It felt warm but incomplete, lacking the earned resolution she achieved on “Lemonade,” thanks to conciliatory songs like “Sandcastles” and “Forward,” neither of which she performed here.

“Lemonade” was first made available on Tidal , Jay Z’s streaming service, and if you’re inclined to believe the sort of people who give anonymous quotes to entertainment reporters, then there’s this, from E! News : “He knew the lyrics; he knew the implications. He had to approve the songs before release.”

Which is to say that the act of enjoying this phase of Beyoncé’s career demands a tacit forgiveness of her husband and apparent antagonist. Before the night’s final segment, the screen showed videos of her, Jay Z and Blue Ivy, their daughter, in scenes meant to reaffirm the certitude of their familial bliss. Some people did boo, though, when Jay Z appeared onscreen.

When Beyoncé shifts moods on “Lemonade” away from indignation and toward healing, Jay Z shifts from a shadowy figure to a near-collaborator, even though his voice is nowhere to be heard. Though this show followed a similar path, Jay Z remained an abstraction throughout — this wasn’t his stage, even if he was nearby, watching.

During “Flawless (Remix),” Beyoncé sat at the edge of the stage surrounded by her dancers, and sang about the 2014 episode in which her sister, Solange, assaulted Jay Z in an elevator , the event that was the first high-profile public rupture in the outwardly perfect Beyoncé-Jay Z union.

After that line, though, Beyoncé laughed, said, “Goddamn, goddamn, goddamn,” then segued into “Feeling Myself,” a giggly song about how no one is better suited to loving you than yourself.

Beyoncé's Formation World Tour Was a $250 Million Success

Beyoncé's Formation World Tour reportedly sold over 2 million tickets and earned over $250 million.

Everything Beyoncé touches turns to gold.

Last week, the 35-year-old singer wrapped up her Formation World Tour with an insane performance that included guests like Jay Z and Kendrick Lamar. It was an incredible conclusion for an event that was both critically praised and commercially successful. And we mean successful .

On Friday, Billboard Boxscore reported the Formation World Tour sold approximately 2.2 million tickets during its run, and took in over $256,084,556. With a total of 49 stops around the world, that averages about $5.2 million in gross and 45,757 paid attendance per show. The two London shows in July were the highest-grossing stops for the tour, selling 142,500 tickets and earning $15.3 million. In North America, the most profitable stop was the two-day event at New York’s City’s Citi Field, which made $11.5 million with 73,486 tickets sold.

"When you go up [on sale] and sell out stadiums, and in some markets multiple stadiums, it’s big," tour promoter Arthur Fogel told Billboard . "I have to congratulate the great team on our side that does these things, and I congratulate her team, because it was all really well done, well set up, and well-executed all the way around."

Looking for cheaper Eras Tour tickets? See Taylor Swift at these 10 international cities.

formation tour seating

Swifties who want to snag tickets to Taylor Swift’s colossal Eras Tour know the experience won’t come cheap.

This year, the billionaire will only visit three U.S. cities – Miami, New Orleans and Indianapolis – and prices for the in-demand shows are astronomical . For the Oct. 18 show in Miami, for example, cost of a single ticket ranged between $1,615 and $8,524 on StubHub.com as of Wednesday afternoon.

So, how else can fans see one of the world’s biggest singers? Go abroad .

In the past 30 days, searches for ‘Taylor Swift Europe tour 2024 tickets’ have increased by 300% in the U.S., indicating that some people are ready to take a long-haul flight to see the wildly popular artist live, according to travel website Islands.com .

Concert-goers who head to Europe for their Swift experience may actually save more money in the long-run . Not only are ticket prices across the pond cheaper, but many European cities, like Warsaw and Lisbon, are also budget-friendly, offering inexpensive food and lodging.

Was the travel worth it? Beyoncé and Taylor Swift's summer concerts drew fans from afar

To determine the most affordable Eras Tour stops, Islands.com researchers compared the cost of a two-night trip, including one cheap ticket on StubHub.com, two nights at a four-star hotel, six inexpensive meals, two five-mile taxi rides, and one domestic beer. However, researchers didn’t account for airline tickets or concert merchandise.

With safety at the top of travelers' minds, the researchers also factored in the city’s safety rating out of 100.

To stay extra safe, the State Department encourages travelers to register with the U.S. embassy in the country they're visiting any time they travel abroad. That can be done at step.state.gov .

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.

Caleb Williams is officially a member of “Da Bears.”

On Thursday, April 25, the Chicago franchise selected the Heisman Trophy-winning USC quarterback with the first pick in the NFL Draft.

Williams joins a Bears team that went 7-10 in 2023; in order to bolster their roster heading into 2024, coach Matt Eberflus’ squad added Pro Bowlers D’Andre Swift and Keenan Allen over the offseason.

With all the new talent in the clubhouse — along with 2023 standouts wide receiver D.J. Moore, and tight end Cole Kmet — Chicago looks to return to the playoffs for the first time since 2018.

And if you want to be there to root the new-look squad on at Soldier Field , you can pick up tickets for all hypothetical home games as soon as today.

Although the schedule isn’t technically set yet, the team has announced they will play rivals like the Detroit Lions , Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings on their home gridiron.

Based on our findings, prices for home games start anywhere from $131 to $227 before fees on Vivid Seats at the time of publication.

You’re in the right place, Chicagoans and Bears fans.

Beyonce’s Formation Tour Sold Over 2 Million Tickets and Made Over $250 Million

Tour promoter Arthur Fogel, chairman of Live Nation's Global Touring division, calls Beyonce an "amazing performer" with a "rabid, committed fan base."

The highest-grossing stop on the tour came from two sellouts at London’s Wembley Stadium July 2-3 that took in $15.3 million and sold 142,500 tickets. Earlier in the run, an $11.5 million take from two sellouts at New York’s City’s Citi Field took in $11.5 million and moved 73,486 tickets as the highest-grossing date in North America.   The tour received high marks for its extravagant production, but Fogel points out that Beyonce “rose above the spectacle” in her performances. “When everybody acknowledges the greatness of the production but, more than that, everybody is blown away by her, that’s the ultimately skill,” he says. “To not only use the platform of a great production, but to rise above it as a performer and artist, that’s her incredibly unique quality.”
