Who Won the 2023 Tour de France Femmes?

Demi Vollering takes the General Classification win after an unforgettable week of racing.

2nd tour de france femmes 2023 stage 8

Demi Vollering (SD Worx) leads the 2023 Tour de France Femmes by one minute, 50 seconds after Stage 7. Ahead of the final Stage 8—an individual time trial—Vollering will wear the yellow jersey in Pau, looking to claim her first Tour de France Femmes GC title. Kasia Niewiadoma (Canyon//SRAM) is in second place, 1:50 behind Vollering, and Annemiek van Vleuten (Movistar) is in third place, 2:28 behind.

Here’s a look at how every stage of the Tour de France Femmes, so far, has unfolded.

Winner of the 2023 Tour de France Femmes - Demi Vollering

2nd tour de france femmes 2023 stage 8

The 2023 Tour de France Femmes culminated today in a 22.6 km individual time trial in Pau. As was also the case in this year’s men’s race, the individual TT was as merciless—with a climb in the middle of the route—as it was decisive. Demi Vollering (SD Worx) started the stage in yellow after her dominating performance during yesterday’s Stage 7 finish atop the infamous Col du Tourmalet. She ended the stage as the winner of this year’s Tour de France Femmes.

Stage 7 Leader - Demi Vollering

2nd tour de france femmes 2023 stage 7

Demi Vollering (SD Worx) takes over the lead at the 2023 Tour de France Femmes and will wear the yellow jersey on the final stage on Sunday. Vollering leads by 1:50 over second place Kasia Niewiadoma (Canyon//SRAM) after summiting the Col de Tourmalet first to win Stage 7—a ride that very likely won Vollering the General Classification of the TDFF.

Defending TDFF champion Annemiek van Vleuten (Movistar)—and Vollering’s top rival entering the Tour—comes into the final stage in third place, 2:28 behind the lead and 38 seconds behind second place Niewiadoma. Lotte Kopecky (SD Worx), who held the yellow jersey since she took the lead on the Tour’s opening stage, is in fourth place, seven seconds behind Van Vleuten for the third and final spot on the podium, so that could be a good battle to watch on Stage 8.

  • Demi Vollering (SD Worx): 24:48:10
  • Kasia Niewiadoma (Canyon//SRAM): -1:50
  • Annemiek van Vleuten (Movistar): -2:28
  • Lotte Kopecky (SD Worx): -2:35
  • Ashleigh Moolman Pasio (AG Insurance-Soudal Quick-Step): -2:29
  • Lotte Kopecky (SD Worx): 228 points
  • Cedrine Kerbaol (Ceratizit–WNT Pro Cycling): 24:58:16 (+2:01)

Stage 6 Leader - Lotte Kopecky

2nd tour de france femmes 2023 stage 6

Lotte Kopecky (SD Worx) remains in the yellow jersey after Stage 6 of the 2023 Tour de France Femmes. Kopecky took third on the stage—another stage win that went to a breakaway rider, Emma Norsgaard—and maintained her lead in the General Classification, and gained an additional four bonus seconds over her top rivals in the GC.

Ashleigh Moolman Pasio (AG Insurance-Soudal Quick-Step) is in second place in the GC, 53 seconds back. Annemiek van Vleuten (Movistar) is in third, 55 seconds back. Demi Vollering (SD Worx), who was penalized 20 seconds on Stage 5 for drafting behind her team car, is in seventh place, 1:07 behind the leaders and 12 seconds behind her top GC rivals.

Coming up on Saturday is Stage 7, which finishes atop the Col de Tourmalet, for the queen stage of the Tour. We two massive climbs, this will be judgment day of this year’s TDFF. Expect big time gaps as the top climbers in the world will be the ones to watch.

Stage 5 Leader - Lotte Kopecky

2nd tour de france femmes 2023 stage 5

The biggest story of the day, as far as the General Classification is concerned, was Demi Vollering (SD Worx), who was penalized 20 seconds for drafting on her team’s car while getting back to the peloton. Vollering entered the stage in sole possession of second overall in the GC, 43 seconds behind Kopecky. The penalty drops her to seventh overall, 1:03 behind Kopecky and 12 seconds behind the other main GC contenders.

After Moolman Pasio in second, there are three riders that are 51 seconds behind, including Longo Borghini, Kasia Niewiadoma (Canyon//SRAM), and Annemiek van Vleuten (Movistar). Bauernfeind, meanwhile, moved into the top 10 after her Stage 5, moving up to eighth overall,1:38 back of the lead.

Stage 4 Leader - Lotte Kopecky

2nd tour de france femmes 2023 stage 4

Lotte Kopecky (SD Worx) stayed in the yellow leader’s jersey after an eventful Stage 4 of the 2023 Tour de France Femmes. Kopecky leads second place Demi Vollering—her SD Worx teammate—by 43 seconds in the GC. After that, four other women, led by third place Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio (AG Insurance-Soudal Quick-Step) trail the leader by 51 seconds.

Kopecky ultimately surrendered a little bit of time to others in the GC on Stage 4. She went on the attack at one point from a group of attackers and set up some of SD Worx’s tactics in the interest of the team’s true GC leader, Vollering. In the end, it worked as Vollering claimed second on the stage, earning six bonus seconds over the other GC threats. Vollering entered the day even with her top rival and defending TDFF champion Annemiek van Vleuten (Movistar), but is now eights ahead of her after Stage 4.

Moolman-Pasio, Kasia Niewiadoma (Canyon//SRAM), Elisa Longo Borghini, and van Vleuten are each 51 seconds behind Kopecky in the standings. Cecilie Ludwig (FDJ Suez) and Stage 2 winner Liane Lippert (Movistar) were among the riders that lost some time in the GC on Wednesday, but both remain in the top 10.

  • Lotte Kopecky (SD Worx): 15:47:25
  • Demi Vollering (SD Worx): -:43
  • Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio (AG Insurance-Soudal Quick-Step): -:51
  • Lotte Kopecky (SD Worx): 128 points
  • Anouska Koster (UNO-X Pro Cycling): 19 points
  • Cedrine Kerbaol (Ceratizit–WNT Pro Cycling): 15:50:32 (+2:45)

Stage 3 Leader - Lotte Kopecky

cycling fra tdf2023 women stage3 podium

Lotte Kopecky (SD Worx) kept the yellow jersey after Stage 3 of the Tour de France Femmes, on a day that ended up (unsurprisingly) being one for the sprinters. Kopecky supplied a strong leadout for the stage winner, her SD Worx teammate Lorena Wiebes. Kopecky was able to marginally increase her lead once again on Stage 3, earning four bonus seconds for taking third on the day. She now leads the GC by 55 seconds over second place Liane Lippert (Movistar). Asleigh Moolman-Pasio (AG Insurance-Soudal Quick-Step) is in third place, leading seven riders 1:05 behind Kopecky.

Other than the few bonus seconds for Kopecky, there was no real change to the overall GC situation. Annemiek van Vlueten (Movistar) and Demi Vollering (SD Worx), the two favorites are both still in the top 10, both 1:05 off the lead.

Stage 4 could very well bring changes to the GC situation, with a few steep climbs towards the end on the Tour’s longest stage. Expect to see those in the top 10, battling it out over the last 10K or so on Wednesday for crucial time.

  • Lotte Kopecky (SD Worx): 11:07:19
  • Liane Lippert (Movistar): -:55
  • Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio (AG Insurance-Soudal Quick-Step): -1:05
  • Kasia Niewiadoma (Canyon//SRAM): -1:05
  • Elisa Longo Borghini (Lidl-Trek): -1:05
  • Lotte Kopecky (SD Worx): 125 points
  • Julie Van de Velde (Fenix-Deceuninck): 9 points
  • Cedrine Kerbaol (Ceratizit–WNT Pro Cycling): 11:09:19 (+1:21)

Stage 2 Leader - Lotte Kopecky

2nd tour de france femmes 2023 stage 2

Lotte Kopecky (SD Worx) remains in the yellow jersey after Stage 2 of the 2023 Tour de France Femmes. Kopecky finished second on the stage, but maintained her strong hold on the lead in the General Classification. She gained six bonus seconds for finishing second on the stage, and now leads second place Liane Lippert (Movistar) by 49 seconds (Lippert earned 10 bonus seconds for winning Stage 2). Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio (AG Insurance-Soudal Quick-Step) is in third overall in the GC—one of seven riders that are 59 seconds behind the yellow jersey.

Kopecky increased her overall on Monday with the help of the bonus seconds on the line. Lorena Wiebes (SD Worx) and Charlotte Kool (Team dsm-firmenich)—two sprinters—drop off the podium on a stage that saw the GC favorites come to the front. The two GC favorites—Annemiek Van Vleuten (Movistar) and Demi Vollering (SD Worx)—are both inside the top 10, trailing Kopecky by 59 seconds.

Tuesday’s Stage 3 is a flat stage and likely won that won’t change much in the GC, before Wednesday’s Stage 4, which is a hilly stage that has a chance to shake up the positioning of the riders in the GC.

  • Lotte Kopecky (SD Worx): 7:17:36
  • Liane Lippert (Movistar): -:49
  • Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio (AG Insurance-Soudal Quick-Step): -:59
  • Demi Vollering (SD Worx): -:59
  • Cecile Ludwig (FDK-Suez): -:59
  • Lotte Kopecky (SD Worx): 90 points
  • Yara Kastelijn (Fenix-Deceuninck): 7 points
  • Cedrine Kerbaol (Ceratizit–WNT Pro Cycling): 7:19:3o (+1:21)

Stage 1 Leader - Lotte Kopecky

2nd tour de france femmes 2023 stage 1

Lotte Kopecky (SD Worx) is in the yellow leader’s jersey after the first stage of the Tour de France Femmes. She holds a 45-second lead on second place Lorena Wiebes, her SD Worx teammate.

Kopecky made a move on a reduced peloton with 10K to go in the stage towards the top of the day’s big climb, the Côte de Durtol. The acceleration could have initially been perceived as a move to grab the QOM points, which she did, but Kopecky, of course, is one of the world’s finest time trialist/classic rider, so she maintained that gap—and then extended it—all the way to the finish.

The main General Classification contenders sit 53 seconds behind Kopecky after the first stage. Defending champion Annemiek Van Vluten (Movistar) was 13th on the stage and Demi Vollering (SD Worx) was sixth on the stage, so the co-favorites are not separated by any time heading into Stage 2.

  • Lotte Kopecky (SD Worx): 3:04:09
  • Lorena Wiebes (SD Worx): -:45
  • Charlotte Kool (Team dsm-firmenich): -:47
  • Marianne Vos (Jumbo-Visma): -51
  • Lotte Kopecky (SD Worx): 50 points
  • Lotte Kopecky (SD Worx): 3 points
  • Cedrine Kerbaol (Ceratizit–WNT Pro Cycling): 3:05:35 (+:34)

Tour de France Femmes 2023 preview: Full schedule and how to watch live women's Grand Tour cycling action

Reigning champion Annemiek van Vleuten is targeting another Tour de France Femmes crown, as the second modern edition of the stage race takes place on 23 July to 30 July. Here is all you need to know before the start in Clermont-Ferrand.

Annemiek van Vleuten claimed the 2022 Tour de France Femmes. Demi Vollering finished second and Katarzyna Niewiadoma third.

The second edition of the most prestigious stage race on the women’s cycling calendar is billed as being the biggest yet. Tour de France Femmes 2023 is offering a diverse route starting in the highland region of Massif Central and finishing at the foot of the Pyrenees in Pau.

The big question before this year’s race has been whether anyone can challenge defending champion Annemiek van Vleuten , who is also an Olympic gold and silver medallist and four-time world champion.

The 40-year-old Dutchwoman has already claimed La Vuelta Femenina and the Giro d’Italia Donne this season, and victory in the Tour de France Femmes would complete the set of 2023 women's Grand Tour race wins.

22 teams will be at the start line to battle over 8 stages, not just for the yellow leader’s jersey, but also the green points classification jersey, the polka-dot jersey for leader of the mountain classification and the white jersey for the best young rider under 23 years of age.

Read on to find everything you need to know about the Tour de France Femmes 2023.

Tour de France Femmes 2023 route

Tour de France Femmes 2023 consists of eight stages with a total of 956 kilometres of racing. The peloton starts with a fairly flat stage around Clermont-Ferrand, and from the second hilly stage, the riders slowly move towards the southwest of France.

A mix of flat and hilly stages follow until the seventh stage, where the big battle among the GC favourites will be fought on the mountainous route to the iconic Col du Tourmalet in the Pyrenees.

The race will conclude with a 22 kilometres individual time trial around Pau.

Day-by-day route of the 2023 Tour de France Femmes stages

  • Sunday 23 July: Stage 1 - Clermont-Ferrand - Clermont-Ferrand (124 km)
  • Monday 24 July: Stage 2 - Clermont-Ferrand - Mauriac (152 km)
  • Tuesday 25 July: Stage 3 - Collonges-la-Rouge - Montignac-Lascaux (147.2 km)
  • Wednesday 26 July: Stage 4 - Cahors - Rodez (177.5 km)
  • Thursday 27 July: Stage 5 - Onet-le-Château - Albi (126.1 km)
  • Friday 28 July: Stage 6 - Albi - Blagnac (122.1 km)
  • Saturday 29 July: Stage 7 - Lannemezan - Col du Tourmalet (89.8 km)
  • Sunday 30 July: Stage 8 - Pau - Pau (22.6 km individual time trial)

Riders to watch at the Tour de France Femmes 2023

Two-time road race world champion Annemiek van Vleuten is the big favourite for the Tour de France Femmes 2023. In the Giro d’Italia Donne that finished earlier this month, the Olympic time trial champion claimed three stages and won the general classification by almost four minutes to Juliette Labous of France in second place.

The Movistar rider is in the middle of her last season before retiring, but after having claimed both the overall in the Giro d’Italia Donne and La Vuelta Femenina, the defending champion has proved that she isn't finished yet.

Last year, van Vleuten clinched the yellow jersey by taking the last two stages of the Tour de France Femmes. 3 minutes and 48 seconds was the gap to second place Demi Vollering .

The second placed rider from last year’s edition could also be the biggest threat for van Vleuten this year. Vollering completed the Ardennes hat-trick of one-day races earlier this season, winning the Amstel Gold Race, La Flèche Wallonne, and Liège-Bastogne-Liège Femmes.

The 26-year-old SD Worx rider is currently leading the UCI World Rankings, as she has secured an incredible 13 victories already this season, and the Dutch road race champion has taken a big step up since last year’s second place at this race.

At the La Vuelta Femenina, Vollering looked like she was about to be crowned the overall winner, but van Vleuten capitalized on a toilet break and gained more than a minute on the penultimate stage to ultimately win the race.

By the looks of this season’s results, we can hope to see a breathtaking Dutch battle between van Vleuten and Vollering.

Other riders, who potentially can fight for the overall victory are Elisa Longo Borghini of Italy, Juliette Labous of France, and Katarzyna Niewiadoma of Poland.

In the battle for the green jersey, the European road race champion Lorena Wiebes will be the woman to beat. The Dutchwoman has a strong team to support her in SD Worx.

Her 24-year-old compatriot Charlotte Kool of dsm-firmenich has showed earlier this season that she has the top speed to beat Wiebes in a bunch sprint.

Last year’s winner of the green jersey and arguably the greatest female cyclist of all time, Marianne Vos , also needs to be mentioned among the contenders for the points classification.

As the general classification riders will most likely battle it out on the decisive mountain stage to Col du Tourmalet, they will also be the favourites to claim the polka dot jersey after the final stage in Pau.

Tour de France 2024 Stage 12 Preview

Stage 12 at the Tour de France 2024 will include something for everyone, as the 203.6-kilometer route will feature a handful of climbing opportunities and an intermediate sprint.

The question that will need to be answered once the action begins to unfold Thursday is whether the winner will come from a breakaway, or if the sprinters will have a chance to race for another stage win.

Stage 11 saw the riders fly through their 211-kilometer journey, with Jonas Vingegaard ultimately showing he's back in business after a serious crash earlier in the year.

Vingegaard responded after a Tadej Pogacar attack Wednesday and beat the yellow jersey to the line in a sprint between the titans.

Through 11 stages, Pogacar leads the General Classification by 1 minute, 6 seconds over first-timer Remco Evenepoel , while Vingegaard, the two-time defending champion at the TDF, sits in third place at 1 minutes, 14 seconds.

Primoz Roglic is hanging close, only a minute behind Vingegaard, but fifth-place Joao Almeida is another two minutes behind Roglic.

2024 Tour de France

Stage 12 tour de france 2024.

Stage 12 of the Tour de France 2024 will take the riders on a hilly ride from Aurillac to Villeneuve-Sur-Lot that will be a a slight break from the intense climbs and gradients faced in Stage 11, though not by too much. There is a bit of a downhill start to the stage, however.

If Stage 12 looks familiar, it's because the riders saw the terrain during the 2022 Tour de France, but going in the opposite direction for a 5.9-gradient climb to the historic Rocamadour.

The 203.6-kilometer journey in Stage 12 should offer the opportunity for aggressive riders to break away from the group, and while the sprinters will have a chance to close any gaps, similar efforts on previous visits to the area have not panned out.

Could 2024 be different? Will it be a breakaway victory or another exciting bunch sprint after some suffering for the sprinters along the way, and especially in Stage 11?

This stage offers three categorized climbs and one intermediate sprint to challenge the 168 riders who remain in the race.

Aurillac has been part of the TDF on 14 previous occasions, but not since 2011, when Andre Greipel of Germany won the flat Stage 10 that ended with a bunch sprint. It was the first of 11 individual stages he won at the Tour de France from 2011-2016.

It has been nearly a quarter of a century since a stage of the race has concluded in Villeneuve-Sur-Lot, with Erik Dekker of the Netherlands taking the Stage 8 victory in 2000. It was one of three stage wins for him that year (he finished his career with four), along with being named the most combative rider.

The first three riders to finish Stage 12 this year will earn bonus seconds - 10, 6 and 4, respectively.

Meet the Americans competing at the 2024 Tour de France

A general classification win may be out of reach for the American riders in the Tour de France, but ending a three-year stage win drought is well within their grasp.

Sepp Kuss, 29, was the last American to win a stage when he took Stage 15 of the 2021 Tour de France. The Durango, Colorado native is the best rider the country has seen in a decade. Last year, Kuss finished as the top American in 12th place at the Tour de France and won the 2023 Vuelta a España to become the first American Grand Tour winner since Chris Horner won the same race in 2013. However, although slated to be Jonas Vingegaard’s top support rider for the 2024 Tour de France, Kuss withdrew from this year’s edition after testing positive for COVID-19 in the lead-up to the race.

Greg LeMond remains the only American to have ever won the general classification category at the Tour de France, accomplishing the feat in 1986, 1989 and 1990. American Lance Armstrong won the Tour from 1999-2005 but was subsequently stripped of his seven Tour de France titles for doping by the International Cycling Union in 2012 .

From NFL plays to college sports scores, all the top sports news you need to know every day.

So, who is left in this year's race to give the United States a shot at glory — at least for one stage. Here's a look at the three Americans competing at the 2024 Tour de France.

Matteo Jorgenson (UCI WorldTeam Visma-Lease a Bike)

Jorgenson, 25, is having a breakthrough season with an overall victory at Paris-Nice 2024 and a second-place finish at the 2024 Criterium du Dauphine.

Jorgenson is a strong contender in this year's race for the white jersey, which recognizes the best young rider under 26. A versatile rider, Jorgenson — alongside Kuss — is poised to be USA's best hope for a future Tour de France general classification winner. But for now, he will take over from Kuss to play the chief support role for teammate Jonas Vingegaard, who won the 2022 and 2023 Tour de France.

This year will be Jorgenson’s third Tour de France. The Idaho-raised cyclist finished 20th in the general classification standings in 2022 and had to withdraw in 2023 due to injuries sustained in a crash along the route.

Neilson Powless (EF Education-EasyPost)

A standout mountain biker during his young adulthood in California, 27-year-old Powless transitioned to the road and turned professional in 2018.

Powless made history in 2020 as the first Native American to compete in the Tour de France. Since then, he has continued to improve and is coming off his strongest season yet with overall victories at the 2023 Grand Prix La Marseillaise and Étoile de Bessèges.

In Kuss’ absence, Powless is the top American prospect for pulling off a stage win as he is known for his success with breakaways and aptitude at climbing. Last year, Powless led the King of the Mountain classification for the first half of the Tour but was ultimately edged out by Italy’s Giulio Ciccone. This year, he’ll be looking to finally secure the polka-dotted jersey by the end of the Grand Boucle .

Hailing from Los Angeles, Quinn is a 24-year-old, up-and-coming cyclist riding in his first Tour de France to support Richard Carapaz, team leader of EF Education-EasyPost. Hot off a victory at the U.S. National Road Race Championships in May, Quinn is a strong all-around rider who excels at climbing and can produce strong sprinting kicks. Quinn will certainly be one to watch as he develops in the coming years.

Team EF Education's US rider Sean Quinn (R) cycles in a lead breakaway in the final ascent of Plateau des Glieres, in the eighth and last stage of the 76th edition of the Criterium du Dauphine cycling race near Thorens-Glieres, French Alps, on June 9, 2024.

2024 Tour de France Femmes Schedule

2024 tour de france femmes contenders.

Tour de France Femmes

Defending champion Demi Vollering (SD Worx) is likely to return to the 2024 Tour de France Femmes to try and win a second consecutive overall title after securing the yellow jersey in the 2023 edition.

Annemiek van Vleuten , the winner of the 2022 Tour de France Femmes and fourth in 2023, has retired from professional cycling after a sparkling 16-year career and so will not be competing in the third edition of the event.

Two-time podium finisher Kasia Niewiadoma (Canyon-SRAM), gravel world champion, will line up as one of the main contenders for the overall title.

Road race world champion Lotte Kopecky (also SD Worx) won the opening stage last year and wore the yellow jersey for six days, climbed with the best to the summit of the Col du Tourmalet, and then stormed to third place in the time trial in Pau. She closed out the eight-day race by winning the green points jersey and taking second overall behind her teammate Vollering. She will be one to watch in the 2024 edition of the Tour de France Femmes.

Juliette Labous (Team dsm-firmenich) was the top French rider in last year's Tour de France Femmes, and other riders to watch will be Ashleigh Moolman Pasio (AG Insurance-Soudal-QuickStep) and Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig (FDJ-SUEZ).

Cyclingnews  has assembled a full list of champions dating back to the first version in 1955 and the original women's Tour de France stage race held from 1984-1989 to the modern Tour de France Femmes.

The women's peloton raced their  first official launch of the women's Tour de France  until  1984 won by American Marianne Martin . It was an 18-day race held simultaneously as the men's event and along much of the same but shortened routes with shared finish lines. The Société du Tour de France, which later became part of ASO in 1992, managed both men's and women's events.

The women's Tour de France ended in 1989, and while ASO went on to organise women's one-day races like La Flèche Wallonne, Liège-Bastogne-Liège, La Course, and the inaugural Paris-Roubaix Femmes (in 2021), the women's peloton had not been included as part of the official Tour de France for the past 30 years.

Other women's stage races in France, not run by ASO, took place, including the Tour Cycliste Féminin, which had started in 1992, and the re-named Grande Boucle Féminine Internationale, until it came to an end in 2009.

La Course by La Tour de France was then created in 2014 following a petition to ASO calling for a women's Tour de France. Le Tour Entier's petition was led by Kathryn Bertine, Marianne Vos, Emma Pooley and Chrissie Wellington and secured 97,307 signatures. The event was held across various platforms, from a one-day to a multi-day event between 2014 and 2021.

Champions included  Marianne Vos ,  Anna van der Breggen  and  Chloe Hosking  in the first three editions from 2014 to 2016.  Annemiek van Vleuten  won in 2017 and 2018, followed by Vos in 2019,  Lizzie Deignan  in 2020 and  Demi Vollering  in 2021.

Despite its controversy, La Course had become one of the most showcased events in the Women's WorldTour, and although the wait was longer than anyone anticipated, it finally became the stepping stone to the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift.

Tour de France men's race director Christian Prudhomme made a  long-awaited confirmation  that Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO) would launch a women's  Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift in 2022  with Marion Rousse as the event's race director.

Zwift announced that it would become the title sponsor of the  Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift  on a five-year deal through 2026.

The first edition of the rebirth of the 2022 Tour de France Femmes was an eight-day race that began on the Champs-Élysées in Paris in conjunction with the final stage 21 of the men's Tour de France and ended on La Super Planche des Belles Filles, where  Annemiek van Vleuten  (Movistar) was crowned the overall champion.

The 2023 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift route hit new heights with 956 kilometres and a grand finale in the Pyrenees with a mountaintop finish on the iconic Tourmalet on stage 7 and a final stage 8 time trial in Pau, with Demi Vollering winning the overall title.

The 2024 Tour de France Femmes will showcase back-to-back summit finishes at Le Grand Bornand and Alpe d'Huez where the overall champion will be crowned.

tour de france 2023 femmes

2024 Edition

The history.

Founded in 2011 as Dolmans Landscaping, the team quickly established itself as the most powerful in the world. With the arrival of Boels, a tool and machinery rental group with operations in the Benelux, it became Dolmans–Boels (2012), Boels–Dolmans (2013 to 2020), and SD Worx, named after a human resources service provider. Protime, a subsidiary of SD Worx, became its second title sponsor this season. The team remains Dutch, although SD Worx has its headquarters in Belgium.

The team has finished seven of the last eight seasons in first place in the UCI rankings (this total domination was only challenged by Trek–Segafredo in 2020) and won six of the past nine road race world championships: Elizabeth Armitstead (2015), Amalie Dideriksen (2016), Chantal Blaak (2018), Anna van der Breggen (2017 and 2020), and Lotte Kopecky (2023). It was with this team that Van der Breggen forged most of her successes, with wins in the Amstel Gold Race, the Tour of Flanders, Strade Bianche, two Liège–Bastogne–Liège Femmes, three of her four Giro titles, and five of her seven Flèche Wallonne Femmes victories.

The Dutch star retired in 2021 but stayed with the squad as a team manager. Van der Breggen would have been a strong contender to win the 2022 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift if she had continued racing for another year. Demi Vollering, whom she coaches, emerged as the best climber in the world last year, achieving a remarkable triple in the Ardennes classics before securing the Tour title on the foggy Tourmalet.

  • Final victory 0
  • Stages victory 0
  • Yellow Jersey 0
  • Other race Won 0

3. As of 11 June, SD Worx held the top 3 spots in the UCI ranking with Lotte Kopecky, Demi Vollering, and Lorena Wiebes.

4. The Dutch squad claimed half of the stages that made up the 2023 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift — four out of eight — each time with a different rider: Lotte Kopecky took stage 1, Lorena Wiebes bagged stage 3, Demi Vollering clinched stage 7, and Marlen Reusser nabbed stage 8.

62. Its number of victories last season, more than three times as many as its closest pursuer (Movistar, with 20).
