Old meets new in Dubai, the aptly-nicknamed City of Gold where towering skyscrapers, buzzing souk markets, and lavish hotels line the streets. It’s a place where luxury is around every corner, with traditional Arabic culture blending in with the city’s more modern influences.

By day, as the mercury scorches the desert, the city comes to life with no shortage of tourist-friendly activities: from heart-racing theme park rides to venturing to the observation decks of the world’s tallest buildings, the choice is aplenty.

But when the sun goes down, the magic is turned up a notch (and the heat is relievingly turned down a notch too) and Dubai really comes alive. The city has some of the best nightlife in the Middle East with plenty of bars, clubs, and lounges to keep you entertained until the early hours of the morning.

Shop till you drop at the Dubai Mall, catch a show at the Dubai Opera House , feast like a king or queen at one of Dubai’s many Michelin-starred restaurants , party it up at one of Dubai’s trendy nightclubs , enjoy front row seats to the spectacular Dubai Fountain Show , watch a traditional dance show , sink a few cocktails at one of the city’s many rooftop bars, or embark on a soulsearching desert camping adventure under the Milky Way.

As you’re about to see, whether you’re a partygoer, adventure-seeker, beach bum, art fanatic, or foodie, there’s no shortage of fun things to do in Dubai at night .

1 – Look over the city from the Burj Khalifa observation decks

Burj Khalifa, Dubai

Dwarfing everything around it and finding itself of many a postcard, the Burj Khalifa – at over 828 meters (2,716.5 feet) and more than 160 stories high – is the tallest building in the world.

The observation decks on levels 124 and 125 offer unparalleled views of Dubai, and on a clear day, the stark contrast of brilliant blue ocean, dusty golden desert, and built-up glassy cityscape make the vistas nothing short of remarkable! By day, it’s eye-opening, but as the sun lays down and twilight turns to evening, it’s breathtaking.

If you want to make a night of it, book a table at one of the many restaurants located within the Burj Khalifa. At At.mosphere on level 122 (the world’s highest restaurant), for example, you can enjoy exquisite fine-dining cuisine while surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows and some of the best views in the city.

There’s also an outdoor terrace on level 124 (as we as level 148!) if you’re feeling brave enough to step out into the open air (don’t worry, it’s completely safe). Don’t miss the chance to virtually fly over Dubai on the ‘Dubai – A Falcon’s Eye View’ ride, and consider popping up to the cosmopolitan Burj Club for a few happy hour drinks with your friends.

Or, for something truly unique, book a room at the Armani Hotel Dubai – also located in the Burj Khalifa – and enjoy easy access to uninterrupted cityscape views, not to mention access to the spa and pool facilities.

2 – Step into an illuminated wonderland at Dubai Garden Glow

Dubai Garden Glow

Like something out of a fairytale, Dubai Garden Glow is a huge outdoor park covered in incredible, glow-in-the-dark artworks.

Featuring four zones made up of no less than 10 million LED lights – Dinosaur Park (where you’ll find more than 100 animatronic dinosaurs on show), Art Park, Magic Park, and the main event, the Garden Park – this one-of-a-kind attraction is perfect for an evening stroll with family or friends (or a cutesie date night, perhaps?).

And, if you work up an appetite while you’re there (which is likely), there are plenty of food trucks on-site serving up delicious international cuisine, not to mention live music.

A quintessential experience for any visitor to Dubai, Dubai Garden Glow is open from October to May each year at Gate 6 of Zabeel Park, delighting every day from 4 pm until 10 pm (and 11 pm on Saturdays). An affordable evening activity, the whimsical display costs just AED65 (about $15 USD), with free entry for youngsters under 3 (if they can manage to stay awake after sundown).

Keep in mind that tickets for the Ice Park may set you back an extra AED 40, but as a world of imagination that showcases the beauty of art and nature, it’s a no-brainer add-on.

3 – Spend the night at a candlelight concert

candlelight concert in Dubai

Taking place at a range of secret locations all over the city, a Candlelight Concert is the perfect way to escape the hustle and bustle of Dubai’s busy streets and enjoy an evening of classical music (often with a modern twist) in some truly unique surroundings.

The locations are kept secret until not too long before the concert, when you’ll be emailed a map and directions to follow. All you need to do is arrive early, find your seat, sit back, relax, and enjoy the magical show!

Lasting about 60 minutes, these concerts are small and intimate, with a limited number of seats available, so it’s best to book in advance. In such a fast-paced and modern city, a little touch of old-world musical charm goes a long way.

Contrary to what you might expect, these oh-so-romantic evenings aren’t restricted to classical music. Sure, you can revel in the musical mastery of Beethoven, Vivaldi, or Ludovico Einaudi, but you can also expand your horizons with tributes to pop icons like Queen and Coldplay and – depending on the time of year – even immerse yourself in live music or video game soundtracks. Simply check the website to see what’s playing when you’re in town.

4 – Go scuba diving with the incredible marine life in Fujairah… (at night, if you’re brave enough)

night scuba diving in Dubai

Hopping away from the main haunts of Dubai for a minute, just over an hour’s drive from the city is the emirate (and eponymous city) of Fujairah, home to some of the best night diving in the world.

Now, we know what you’re thinking – diving at night doesn’t sound all that fun. But trust us, this is an experience you won’t want to miss. Fujairah’s waters are teeming with marine life, and a night dive will allow you to see this fascinating world in a whole new light (literally).

What’s more, with the expert guidance of a PADI-certified instructor, you can rest assured that you’ll be in safe hands. And if you’re not certified? No problem – there are plenty of tour operators that offer beginner-friendly dives too (although these are typically by day).

Since you’ll be in Fujairah anyway, why not make a day of it? Throw together an itinerary comprising of a visit to the Al Bidya Mosque and Fujairah Historic Fort, a couple of hours on the beach, and dinner at one of the city’s excellent seafood restaurants.

5 – Pop into the Infinity des Lumières museum

Infinity des Lumières, Dubai

A diverse art museum meets a futuristic immersion at Infinity des Lumières , where the line between art and entertainment is blurred in the best possible way.

With a focus on technology and innovation, this 2,700-square-meters walk-through art space is a kaleidoscope of lights, colors, and sounds that’s sure to leave you in awe. Diving into master European painters like Van Gogh, iconic Japanese artists such as Hokusai, and unpacking bizarrely beautiful themes like the cosmos with art and music by Thomas Vanz, the variety of exhibitions is reason enough to visit.

But it’s how these paintings, sculptures, and installations are brought to life that will have you coming back for more. And while it might be geared more towards the artistically minded and culture-savvy crowd, with plenty of photo ops and social media-friendly moments, there’s no denying that this evening activity fits all comers.

Open till 11 pm every night and taking about 1 hour and 15 minutes to run through all the sections, you’ll find this colorful experience on Level 2 of the enormous Dubai Mall – which means you’re also a stone’s throw from a slew of popular attractions like the Burj Khalifa, the Dubai Aquarium, and the Dubai Fountain Show.

6 – Cruise down the Dubai Creek or along Burj Lake on a traditional dhow boat (live entertainment included!)

dhow dinner canal cruise Dubai

A deep-seated tradition in the Arab world, taking a dhow cruise is one of the most atmospheric and romantic things to do in Dubai at night.

As you gently glide down the creek (or across the marina, or around the manmade Burj Khalifa Lake, depending on where your adventure takes you), you’ll be treated to stunning views of some of Dubai’s most iconic landmarks – making for plenty of photo opportunities – as the warm night air wraps around you.

And, of course, no dhow cruise would be complete without a delicious buffet dinner (usually featuring international and Arab cuisine), live entertainment in the form of traditional Arabic (or modern pop) music or a belly dancer, and — perhaps best of all — unlimited drinks.

There are plenty of tour operators offering dhow cruises in Dubai that last anywhere between two and four hours, so shop around to find one that best suits your needs (and budget). Just make sure to book in advance!

Hot tip: while you can’t go wrong with a dhow cruise anywhere in town, it’s the best way to experience the nightly magical fountain show on the Burj Khalifa Lake.

Hot tip: Luxury boat tours in Dubai provide an exclusive experience, with gourmet dining and breathtaking views of the city’s illuminated skyline at night.

7 – Hop between countless bars, restaurants and sky-high terraces at the waterfront Dubai Marina

Dubai Marina at night

By day, the Dubai Marina is a buzzing hive of activity, with luxury yachts moored up and down the boardwalk, fitness fanatics jogging along the promenade, and tourists snapping selfies in front of the iconic Dubai skyline.

But by night? It’s an entirely different scene. The waterside area comes alive with twinkling fairy lights. The bars and restaurants fill up with people enjoying a few drinks after work (or before heading out for the night). The promenade is lined with couples taking a romantic stroll. A magical combination.

Arguably the best way to experience the Dubai Marina at night is from above – specifically, from one of the many rooftop bars and restaurants that line Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR).

If you’re looking for a more low-key evening activity in Dubai, then simply take a walk along the marina (admire the yachts as you go) and enjoy dinner or drinks at one of the many excellent eateries on offer.

Or, if you don’t feel like planning (fair enough, you’re on vacation, after all), then sign up for one of the many Dubai Marina tours. Whether a walking or bar-hopping tour on foot; or a glamorous boat ride on a yacht, a traditional dhow, or even a jet ski, there’s a tour to suit every taste and budget.

9 – Max out the credit card at the shopping malls

shopping in Dubai

Shopaholics, listen up. You might not think of shopping malls as a particularly “fun” way to spend an evening, but in Dubai, they’re so much more than just places to buy stuff.

From the world’s largest mall ( Dubai Mall ) to iconic shopping experiences like Gold & Diamond Park (a celebrated jewelry haven) and Ibn Battuta Mall (one of the largest themed malls in the world), Dubai’s shopping centers are must-visit Dubai attractions in their own right – and at night, they come alive.

Throw in the Mall of the Emirates , a luxury oasis; the City Walk, which offers great views of the Burj Khalifa; Festival City, where 250 stores and an IKEA await; and the Mercato Mall , a stunning area reminiscent of Renaissance Italy with storefronts boasting charming balconies and pastel colors, and you’ve got quite the eclectic selection to choose from!

The best part? Most of them are open until late (we’re talking midnight or even later), so you can shop till you drop – literally.

And if shopping isn’t really your thing, don’t worry – these temples to consumerism offer plenty of other activities too, from movie theaters and bowling alleys to indoor skydiving, laser tag, and more.

So whether you’re looking to pick up a few souvenirs or just want to while away an evening in style, Dubai’s shopping malls have you covered.

Hot tip: if you’re after bargains and bargains alone, not too fussed about the typical Dubai glitz and glam, head over to the Dubai Outlet Mall , a savings paradise about 40 minutes by car from Downtown Dubai.

11 – Spend the night stargazing!

stargazing in Dubai

Within the bounds of the inner city, the towers twinkle and the fairy lights wink, but venture outside of Dubai and you’ll find a whole other universe waiting to be explored. From the rolling sand dunes of the deserts to the rocky Hajar Mountains in the East, there are plenty of spots where you can sit back, relax, and take in the blanket of stars above.

Boasting a justified moniker and a crowd favorite for serious stargazers, the Al Quaa Milky Way spot is about a two-hour drive from Downtown Dubai and offers some seriously picturesque night sky opportunities. And, of course, almost anywhere in the Empty Quarter (Rub Al Khali Desert) is top-notch, but you’ll need to book a formal tour because of its sheer remoteness.

If you want to stay closer to town though, and if you’re looking to soak up some information alongside the views, on the outskirts of Dubai, in the middle of Mushrif Park you’ll find the Thuraya Astronomy Centre. Hosting regular events, workshops, and stargazing nights with their powerful telescopes, it’s the perfect place to get your fill of facts before heading out into the wild.

Just remember: when it comes to stargazing in Dubai, dress for the cold!

12 – Bring winter to the desert at Ski Dubai, where you can ski, build snowmen, meet penguins AND go zorbing

Ski Dubai

Certainly not the image conjured up by most when they think of Dubai, but the indoor ski resort is one of the most fun things to do in Dubai at night – especially if you’re looking for a break from the heat! With five different runs (including a dedicated slope for little ones), as well as a Snow Park, Ski School, and a whole lot more spread across the 22,500-square-meter indoor facility, it’s a beloved, calorie-burning place to enjoy some time on the slopes without having to leave town.

There’s also a toboggan run, regular cozy screenings (blankets included) at the winter cinema, snowman and igloo building activities, and even penguin encounters – so whether you’re a beginner or a black run enthusiast, there’s something for everyone.

And when you’re done hitting the slopes, you can relax in one of the on-site restaurants or take in the views from one of the outdoor terraces – all while enjoying some world-class après-ski. Plus, with a central location in the Mall of the Emirates, you’re never too far away from some retail therapy.

While most ski resorts close at sundown, the beauty of this indoor mountain is that it remains open till well past most bedtimes: 11 pm.

13 – Watch the mesmerizing Dubai Fountain show

Dubai fountain show

Utterly majestic and breathtakingly beautiful, the Dubai Fountain Show is an absolute must-see for anyone visiting the city. And what’s more, it’s completely free to watch! Taking place every half hour from sunset till 11 pm, this spectacular show is set to a range of music from all over the world, including classical and Arabic tunes, and modern pop melodies.

With water jets that shoot up to 150 meters in the air, it’s an impressive display of light, water, and music that’s guaranteed to leave you spellbound.

You’ll find it at the base of the Burj Khalifa in Downtown Dubai. And while you’re more than encouraged to grab a table at a nearby restaurant for dinner with a view, or simply stroll around the area (read: snap photos from the Walk Bridge) and take in the sights and sounds, the most magical way to experience to dancing fountains in on the water itself.

With a variety of boats and cruises to choose from – kayaks, paddle boats, and traditional dhow vessels with dinner included – there’s no shortage of ways to get up close and personal with this world-famous attraction.

14 – Practice your drive (drink in hand) at Topgolf Dubai

Topgolf Dubai

With all the fun of a driving range fused with the social aspects of a bar and restaurant, Topgolf Dubai is one of the most unique things to do in Dubai at night. With a variety of fun games to play (no golf experience necessary), as well as a menu packed with American classics like burgers and wings, it’s the perfect place to while away an evening with friends.

And with no fewer than 96 climate-controlled bays that offer stunning views over the city skyline, you can enjoy the best of both worlds: great food and even better company.

Not to mention, if you’re looking for something a little more competitive, there are plenty of opportunities to put your game face on and take home the gold. With augmented reality competitions (like Angry Birds) as well as Topgolf’s very own tournaments, there’s no shortage of ways to challenge yourself and your friends.

Open till 1 am during the week and 2 am on weekends, you can swing, drink, play, and eat your way into the wee hours of the morning. Oh, and ladies, listen up: Monday night is girls’ night! A ticket includes game play, delicious bites, unlimited bubbles from 6 pm, and four extra drinks of your choice.

15 – Set sail on a romantic sunset cruise (luxurious or traditional) with live music, Champagne and a stunning skyline panorama to boot

sunset cruise in Dubai

Whether amongst the billionaire yachts moored at the Dubai Marina, along the banks of the old-world Dubai Creek, or further afield in the historic Al Seef district, a sunset cruise has long been considered one of the most romantic things to do in Dubai at night – not to mention a great way to beat the heat thanks to the cool sea breeze.

As the sun sets over the city skyline, you and your troupe – be that a family, groups of fellow travelers, or a special someone – can enjoy a leisurely cruise complete with canapes, drinks, and live music, leaving an impression that will last long after the night is over.

And with so many different boats and cruises to choose from – everything from luxury yacht charters to traditional abra rides and private sailboats – you’re sure to find something that suits your style and budget.

Of course, if you want to take the luxury to the next level, you can always opt for a private yacht charter complete with a private skipper — this way, you control the itinerary and can create the perfect evening for you and your travel buddies.

16 – Watch the multi-genre show at Music Hall

Music Hall, Dubai

A spectacular evening of entertainment awaits at the Jumeirah Zabeel Saray hotels’ Music Hall . Found on the iconic Palm Jumeirah Island, this lavish venue plays host to a variety of international artists and quirky local performers, as well as regular DJ nights and special events.

With a capacity of up to 1,000 people, making this the region’s largest stage, the Music Hall is one of Dubai’s most popular nightlife destinations, and it’s not hard to see why.

From the moment you step through the grand entrance and into the opulent lobby, you’ll be transported to another world – one of gilded ceilings, marble floors, and luxurious furnishings.

But this is no typical theatre – nor is it your typical nightclub. It’s somewhere in the middle. Each act, be it a Russian folk singer, a local rock or jazz artist, or a bizarrely brilliant spoon player, typically plays three songs.

And in between each act, you can crush the dance floor where DJs spin sing-a-long hits till the next act comes on 15 minutes later. With so much variety, it’s near impossible to get bored. No matter what your taste in music may be, there’s sure to be something for everyone at the Music Hall.

17 – Swim with sharks and learn about our diverse marine life at The Lost Chambers Aquarium

The Lost Chambers Aquarium, Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Themed around the storied lost city of Atlantis, this beloved aquarium is home to over 65,000 marine animals of all shapes, sizes, and colours, from oceans near and far. Spread across 21 different decorated exhibits, you can get up close and personal with turtles, stingrays, piranhas, sharks, lobsters, starfish, and everything in between.

Located in Atlantis The Palm resort, The Lost Chambers Aquarium offers visitors a unique experience with its impressive maze of underground tunnels and chambers that are filled with exotic creatures from all over the world. Be sure to check out the Ambassador Lagoon (home to 150 fish species) and grab a front-row seat for one of the Aqua Theater Shows (where education meets entertainment).

Make no mistake though, this is far from your typical look-don’t-touch aquarium; those brave enough can go diving with sharks, meet the friendly stingrays, or even join the underwater yoga classes!

Before you visit: Since the aquarium is open until 9 pm, 7 days a week, consider visiting its next-door neighbor, the Aquaventure Water Park where you can escape the heat, and ride some of the planet’s most high-octane water slides.

18 – Head up to The View at the Palm, a 240-meter-high, 360-degree open-air observation deck

The View at The Palm, Dubai

Beloved for its postcard-worthy experience, The View at the Palm, as its name suggests, offers one of the best vistas in all of Dubai from its 240-meter-high perch. And there’s no better way to take it all in than with a cocktail (or two) in hand.

Located on the 52nd floor of the Palm Tower (part of the $12 billion Palm Jumeirah Island complex), this is one of Dubai’s most popular observation deck rooftop bars thanks to its stunning panoramic, from-afar views of the city skyline and beyond.

While floor 52 is where most of the action happens, if you crave a little extra luxury then head on up to the also-appropriately-named Next Level, where bubbly drinks, traditional Arabic sweets, and sublime VIP experiential treatment await.

Even though we’re diving into the fun things to do in Dubai at night, this one comes with a caveat: visit just before sundown during the day, so you can experience the full effect as the sky transitions from day to a wash of oranges, pinks, and purples at twilight, before then turning into the twinkling cityscape.

  • The View at the Palm tickets

19 – Rug up for a visit to the Chillout Ice Lounge

Chillout Ice Lounge, Dubai

Officially the first ice lounge in the Middle East, Chillout is one of the coolest (pun intended) places to visit in Dubai , especially at night. As the name suggests, this place is entirely made out of ice – from the walls and tables to the seats and glasses. And at negative six degrees Celsius, it’s pretty darn cold.

Although it’s nothing a warm drink, a puffy coat, a hat and a pair of gloves can’t fix – the latter three of which are provided for you with your entry ticket. Inside, you’ll find an array of fascinating ice sculptures themed around the concept of Frozen Sea Life as well as a menu serving a wide range of hot and cold beverages, hot soups, sandwiches, juices, pizzas, and more.

You’ll find this spellbinding cafe inside the Times Square Center, where a range of other activities like ropes courses (at Adventure Zone’s Obstacle Course), escape rooms (at HintHunt Dubai), and board games galore (at Back to Games Dubai), not to mention all the modern and vintage shopping, of course.

20 – Catch the main highlights with a night bus tour

night bus tour in Dubai

Take to the streets of Dubai on an open-top, double-decker bus and see the city’s top sights illuminated against the night sky. This is a great activity for first-time visitors as it gives you a lay of the land and helps orientate you to your surroundings.

You’ll learn interesting facts and stories about Dubai’s history, culture, and architecture from your onboard guide (sometimes a recorded audio guide, sometimes a live guide, depending on your tour) while getting to see some of the city’s most iconic landmarks lit up in all their glory.

While every tour is a little different, some themed and some private (allowing you to choose your own stops), the common hop-on-hop-off options include stops at places like the Jumeirah Mosque, the Burj Al Arab (the coveted 7-star hotel), The Palm Jumeirah Island, the Dubai Marina, the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall (where you’ll get to see the fountain show), Dubai Creek, the old part of town, and a whole lot more.

And, just to add a little more excitement, some bus tours can be combined with other typical Dubai attractions like a dune buggy adventure or a dinner cruise.

21 – Experience fine dining 50 meters off the ground at the one-of-a-kind Dinner in the Sky restaurant

Dinner in the Sky, Dubai

Exactly as the moniker suggests, Dinner in the Sky is – you guessed it – dinner suspended 150 feet off the ground from a crane.

And, no, this isn’t some Willy Wonka-esque experience or a scene out of The Hunger Games. It’s actually a pretty popular (albeit pricey) Dubai nightlife activity that offers up one of the most unique dining experiences you’re likely to find anywhere in the world.

You and close to two dozen other diners are strapped into your seats around a rectangular table as the crane lifts you skyward for an hour-long session of eating, drinking, and chatting while taking in unobstructed views of Dubai from above.

The whole setup feels very safe (you’re buckled in as you would be on a roller coaster) and, more importantly, the food is delectable.

Just note that Dinner in the Sky fills up fast (you need to book a reservation well in advance) and it’s not for those who are faint of heart or prone to Vertigo. Oh, and they also do lunch, if that’s more your jam.

22 – Align your chakras with Full Moon Yoga at the Talise Spa

Full Moon Yoga in Dubai

At any time of the day, yoga is a powerful way to center yourself, focus your thoughts, and connect with your body. But there’s something about practicing yoga under the light of a full moon that feels a little bit more magical – and Talise Spa offers this unique experience with a couple of dedicated evening sessions every month (based on the moon cycle, of course).

Set against the stunning backdrop of Burj Al Arab and the Jumeirah Al Qasr wind towers, you’ll flow through a series of lunar-inspired asanas (yoga poses) while surrounded by the soothing sounds of nature.

If you’ve bottled up any travel stress or tension from exploring Dubai during the day, this is a great way to let it all go and clear your mind before bed. The class is open to all levels and no prior yoga experience is necessary.

Want the full-blown spa experience? Before your yoga session, Talise Spa (and a plethora of other locales around the city, for that matter) offers relaxing facials, stress-relieving massages, and rejuvenating body scrubs.

23 – Experience new worlds and scenarios at VR Park

VR Park Dubai

Like stepping into the world of the future? Then you’ll love VR Park – Dubai’s first virtual reality amusement center and the world’s largest indoor VR park!

With over 30 different experiences to choose from, including rides, games, and some awfully specific out-of-this-world simulations, VR Park – which stays open till 10 pm – is one of the coolest things to do in Dubai at night (or really any time of day, in all honestly).

And, since it’s located inside Dubai Mall (one of the world’s largest malls), you can easily add it to your itinerary if you find yourself there during the day.

Some of the crowd’s favorite experiences include the Dubai Drone (it’s the year 2050 and your flying taxi drone is about to spin out of control over the city), Burj Khalifa (in your life as a virtual window washer, one of the cables snaps and you’re about to fall of the world’s biggest building), and Magic Bikes (where you get to soar over the city in a hang glider… peddling in real life to dictate your speed and direction).

Throw in a carousel, a handful of arcade games, and a soft play area for the littlest of tots and you’ve got yourself at least a couple of hours of solid entertainment.

24 – Wander around the Dubai Gold Souk

Dubai Gold Souk

Sparkling gold jewelry is one of the main reasons people flock to Dubai – the emirate accounts for roughly 25% of the global trade, believe it or not – and the Gold Souk is the city’s most famous market for it.

Open daily from 10 am to 10 pm Saturday to Thursday and 4 pm till 10 pm on Friday, this bustling market is home to over 300 stores selling everything from gold and silver coins to diamond-studded watches, strands of pearls, silver necklaces, bracelets, bangles, pendants, and more.

And if you’re thinking all of this must come with a hefty price tag, think again. While some of the pieces on offer are quite expensive, you’ll be surprised at how reasonable many of them are (be sure to practice your bargaining before you visit though!).

Tucked away over in the Deira area of Dubai, a stark and traditional contrast from the rest of the city’s more modern skyline, the glittering bazaar that is the Gold Souk is easily accessible via the Dubai Metro (get off at Al Ras) or an abra (water taxi) along the Dubai Creek.

Explore at your own pace or join a walking tour of the area – either day, you can’t miss out on visiting the largest gold market in the world!

25 – Saddle up for some full moon desert riding

full moon horse riding in Dubai

Taking place once a month on the night of the full moon, this is one of those bucket-list-worthy Dubai experiences you’ll never forget. After meeting your guide and beautiful Arabian horse at the Al Dhabi Horse Riding center on the outskirts of the desert (around 30 minutes outside of Dubai – or you can arrange hotel pick up for an extra fee).

You’ll spend the next hour riding through some of the most breathtaking landscapes you’ve ever seen while enjoying unobstructed views of the lunar cycle and starry night sky (unobstructed by any city lights) above and hearing all about the local landscape from an English-speaking guide.

The whole experience feels very surreal – especially as you ride past sand dunes that look like they’re glowing in the moonlight – and it’s an incredibly peaceful way to connect with nature and clear your mind.

Once the trotting comes to an end and you’re back at the farm, you’re greeted with trays of complimentary refreshments and have the rest of the stable’s resident animals, from exotic parrots to turtles, bouncy bunnies, and fluffy ducks.

26 – Step back in time at the Al Shindagha Museum, a cultural deep dive into the Dubai of yesteryear

Al Shindagha Museum, Dubai

One for the history buffs and the culture vultures, the Al Shindagha Museum takes you in a time machine to the era before Dubai’s glitz and glamour. Sitting in the historic district of Al Shindagha (Bur Dubai), right next to the banks of the Dubai Creek, the museum is made up of several heritage homes that have been restored to showcase different aspects of traditional Emirati life.

Through four distinct pavilions — Traditions, Life on Land, Traditional Food House, and House of Poetry — you’ll not only get to experience the traditional ways of life, but also understand how Dubai transformed from a small fishing village to one of the world’s most modern cities. Don’t miss the ‘Dubai Creek: Birth of a City’ multimedia show, and be sure to take a stroll around the beautiful outdoor courtyards and gardens.

The museum is open nightly until 9 pm, making it a perfect stop for a dose of culture before heading out to explore the city’s buzzing nightlife scene.

Hot tip: Since the waterfront museum sits with the Al Shindagha Historical District heritage site that dates back to 1896, try to arrive a little earlier to explore the area and get a feel for what Dubai was like before its rapid development.

Always bustling, embodying the traditional Arabic souk culture, and never shy of a bargain, the array of night markets in Dubai are amazing spots to pick up some inexpensive souvenirs, try delicious (and often first-time) foods from all over the world, and soak up the vibrant atmosphere.

If you’re not interested in purchasing anything, it’s still worth visiting for the experience – especially since it’s located in the historic district of Deira and makes for a great photo op. Other notable markets include the Spice Souk (for all your spice-related needs), the Perfume Souk (where you can find some of the world’s finest fragrances at a fraction of their retail price), the Textile Souk, the Ripe Market at Academy Park, and Ripe by the Bay at the Dubai Festival City Mall .

Dubai Sports City, UAE

Heaven on earth for sports nuts, Dubai Sports City is the world’s first purpose-built sports city and, in typical go-hard-or-go-home Dubai fashion, boasts some of the best sporting facilities in the UAE.

Located in its own little pocket about 15 minutes south of the Palm Jumeirah and built on the foundations of five major sports venues and a slew of training academies (including elite Spanish football units), Dubai Sports City covers an area of 50 million square feet and comprises several residential districts, world-class venues, retail outlets, restaurants, and more.

36 – Drift around corners at hair-raising speeds; go go-karting!

karting in Dubai

While it might not compare to the insane thrills of getting behind the wheel of an F1 car or a Ferrari at the Dubai Autodrome (for more on that, check out the complete list of things to do in Dubai by day), go-karting remains one of the most thrilling activities you can do in Dubai after the sun goes down. And with a few different circuits spread across the city, you’re never too far away from an injection of adrenaline.

Headlining the list of places to burn some rubber after dark is Ekart Zabeel. Perched on the rooftop of The Dubai Mall Zabeel and open until midnight, this spot boasts the latest generation of electric go-karts that can hit speeds of well over 50 km/h. But the most spectacular thing about Ekart Zabeel isn’t the go-karts, it’s the view! From high above the cityscape, you’ll be treated to an unparalleled panorama of Dubai, the Burj Khalifa, and all its glittering lights.

Not to be overlooked, however, is the Dubai Kartdrome Circuit . Found over at the renowned Dubai Autodrome, you’ve got two different courses to choose from; a 1.2km outdoor floodlit circuit with 17 corners and a 620-meter-long indoor track (more suited to kids and teens).

Rounding out the list is the underrated Kartmania in Dubai Festival City. Here, the outdoor track is very affordable, with generous 35-minute sessions.

37 – Enjoy the moonlit flavors on a dinner cruise

dinner cruises in Dubai

Romantic, picturesque, and straight out of a postcard, a dinner cruise on Dubai Creek is an ideal way to spend an evening in the city. It’s a touristy thing to do, sure, but it’s touristy for a reason: because it’s simply magical.

There are several different operators offering dinner cruises in Dubai, and while many services the old-world Dubai Creek, a plethora also sail around modern areas like the Dubai Marina, the Burj Khalifa Lake, and the Jumeirah Beach coastline.

Sort through the options and find one that best suits your schedule, budget, and taste, and whether you’re on a traditional dhow or a modern yacht, make sure to keep room for dessert.

43 – Watch A-listers perform at Coca-Cola Arena

Coca-Cola Arena, Dubai

The City of Gold’s go-to spot for all things music, Coca-Cola Arena is one of the world’s most technologically advanced indoor venues, holding its own as one of the more popular things to do in Dubai at night.

And it doesn’t just stop at music; the multipurpose venue also plays host to a range of family-friendly shows, sports events, comedy gigs, and more.

44 – Go on a desert safari (and spend the night)

overnight desert safari in Dubai

As a brilliant and open-aired escape from the big city, one of the most underrated things to do in Dubai at night (among both locals and tourists) is to camp out in the desert. There are plenty of companies offering overnight camping experiences, complete with all the necessary equipment, so all you need to do is choose your preferred location and book in advance.

Once you’re settled in for the night, sit back and relax under a blanket of stars. Wake up early to watch the sun rise over the dunes before heading back into town – it’s an experience you’ll never forget. And, if you’re feeling adventurous, saddle up for a camel ride or strap in for a sandboarding session!

While you’ll find an array of options, those which include dinner and a show are often the most memorable – specifically, a Tanoura dance show or Khaliji dance show in a Bedouin camp!

Sure, a desert safari is considered one of the top things to do in the desert of Dubai, but it’s far from the only one. For adrenaline junkies, take your pick from dune bashing, quad biking, riding a dirt bike in the desert, or even a hot air balloon ride or a skydive over the arid landscape.

45 – Dress to the nines for a night at the Dubai Opera

Dubai Opera

A delight for the senses, Dubai Opera is the city’s very own world-class performing arts venue, located in the Downtown Dubai area. A masterpiece of contemporary design, the iconic 2,000-seat building was designed to resemble a traditional dhow boat – a nod to Dubai’s rich maritime history. And, since its grand opening in 2016, it has welcomed some of the biggest names in music, dance, theatre, and opera from all over the globe.

From Tony Bennett and Andrea Bocelli to Swan Lake and The Phantom of the Opera, there really is something for everyone at Dubai Opera. If you’re wondering what to do in Dubai after sundown (or for the occasional matinee performance), take a peek at the calendar to see who’s gracing center stage.

Thanks to its position just around the corner from the Burj Khalifa Lake (where you’ll find the Dubai Fountain and a slew of restaurants and activities), it’s easy to spend an entire day and night in the area.

46 – Lace on the skates for a family-fun session at the Dubai Ice Rink

Dubai Ice Rink

While ice skating certainly wouldn’t be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about Dubai, the Dubai Ice Rink remains one of the most popular family-friendly activities in the city. Conveniently located inside The Dubai Mall (a major attraction in and of itself), this Olympic-sized rink is a surefire hit for skaters of all experience levels; if you’re a beginner wanting to learn the basics, you can sign up for skating lessons or join a group class.

Or if you’ve already got the hang of it, simply rent a pair of skates and show off your moves on the ice during one of the public sessions. Unlike most of the family-focused attractions in the city, the Dubai Ice Rink is open late, welcoming skaters until the clock strikes midnight (on weekends, otherwise 10 pm during the week).

While you’re there: Thanks to its location as (arguably) the Dubai Mall’s centerpiece, you’ll find no shortage of other attractions, places to eat, or things to do nearby – however, some do close earlier, so it’s best to leave skating till last. Animal lovers, check out the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo. For a more futuristic kind of entertainment, the PlayDXB VR park uses state-of-the-art technology to immerse you in virtual reality experiences.

47 – Go camping under the stars, Bedouin-style, in the middle of the peaceful desert

camping in the desert of Dubai

Certainly, one of the off-beat things to do in Dubai at night that travelers would seldom think of, camping in Dubai is an experience that should not be missed. The best part about it is that there are plenty of options to choose from – amidst deserts and on soft-sand isolated beaches – whether you want to go deep into the desert or stay relatively close to the city.

So, where to begin? A hotbed of nature with more than 360 bird species in the area, the Al Qudra Lakes is a great camping spot in Dubai for birdwatching enthusiasts. About an hour north of the city, Banan Beach is a secluded spot where you can camp overnight, and even take a dip in its emerald waters by day.

If you’re looking for an adrenaline-pumping camping experience in Dubai, then head to the Hatta Wadi Hub, where you can try your hand at dirt biking and other outdoor activities after the sun comes up. Or, for a landscape reminiscent of desolate Mars, look no further than Liwa – found within the aptly-named “Empty Quarter”.

Other popular spots include Umm Al Quwain Beach, Fujairah Beach, and White Sands Beach, where the Gulf of Oman breeze and crashing waves make for a relaxing soundscape.

Whatever you do, make sure to carry all the essentials with you as it can get quite cold at night, and bring plenty of water.

48 – Hop around the city’s best rooftop bars

rooftops in Dubai

With a cityscape as impressive as Dubai’s, it would be a shame not to enjoy it from one of the city’s many rooftop bars. From stylish lounges and swanky hotels to poolside oases and hidden gems, there’s no shortage of options when it comes to alfresco drinking and dining in Dubai.

For those looking for an unrivaled bird’s eye view of the Burj Khalifa, head to Atmosphere – located on the 122nd floor of the world’s tallest building. If you’re feeling fancy, Monkey Bar on the rooftop of the brand-new 25hours Hotel One Central is themed around the Amazon Jungle, serving up creative cocktails in a detailed setting, complete lush greenery, comfy hideaway booths, and hanging plants.

Less jungle-like and more rainforest-inspired, Amazonico is a colorful paradise with tropical signature drinks and a laid-back atmosphere. Continuing the greenery theme, over at the Taj Hotel’s Downtown Dubai outpost sits Treehouse , where the enchanted garden vibe is a little chicer and where the menu spans everything from Cajun to Emirati.

On the 42nd floor of the Taj Jumeirah Lakes Towers, you’ll find Paros whose panoramic views of the Dubai Marina skyline are second to none. While even higher still, on the 77th floor of Address Beach Resort, Zeta Seventy Seven is as enviable as they come, overlooking both the beach and the cityscape.

But that’s not all – other notable rooftop bars in Dubai include Neos on the 63rd floor of the Address Downtown Dubai hotel (offering incredible views of The Dubai Fountain), Iris on the 27th floor of The Oberoi Dubai (which has an infinity pool and stunning cityscape views).

Of course, if you prefer to stay on the ground floor, you won’t be short of options; for a more laid-back vibe, check out Barasti Beach Bar, where you can sip cocktails while listening to live music with your toes in the sand.

49 – Head to the Dubai Frame (at night)

Dubai Frame at night

Open till 9 pm every evening and sticking out from Zabeel Park like a sore thumb, the Dubai Frame is one of the most popular modern architectural landmarks in Dubai, and for good reason. Dubbed as “the largest picture frame on the planet”, this 150-meter high structure offers stunning views and dramatic contrasts of old and new Dubai, separating the iconic skyline from the city’s older residential districts.

By day, the views from the top are simply breathtaking. You get a comprehensive view of some of Dubai’s most popular tourist attractions such as The Palm Jumeirah, Downtown Dubai, and of course, the Burj Khalifa. By night, the views are even better, as the city’s skyline is illuminated by a sea of twinkling lights.

Make sure to pop into the museum to learn a thing or two while you’re there: starting from the Mezzanine floor, the informative displays document the history of the city through the ‘Old Dubai Gallery’. Then, of course, end your journey by visiting the ‘Future Dubai Gallery’ too.

Can’t get enough of that panorama? Come back the next morning for the Dubai Frame breakfast experience which complements the killer photos with 45 minutes of face-stuffing pastry goodness!

50 – Laugh your socks off at the Laughter Factory

Laughter Factory, Dubai

With a reputation that precedes it — as both the longest-running and arguably premier comedy club in the city — The Laughter Factory has been responsible for welcoming a slew of international superstars (just to name a few: Michael McIntyre, Russell Peters, Dara O’Brien, and Ross Noble) over its 25-plus-year tenure (debuting in 1997).

But it’s not just about the headliners: local comedians also get a chance to shine on stage, with several open-mic nights held throughout the year.

The Laughter Factory puts up a roster of three different professional comedians every month, many of which are already stars on the silver screen in the UK or the US. And, since the shows are run at various locations across Dubai, there’s ample opportunity to discover a new part of town!

So if you’re feeling stressed out from work or life in general, be sure to check them out – after all, laughter is the best medicine.

51 – Swim in the world’s highest infinity pool, the Insta-worthy AURA Skypool

AURA Skypool, Dubai

There are infinity pools, there are sky-high observation decks, and then there’s the AURA Skypool – the ultimate combination of the two. This luxurious rooftop pool, towering high on the 50th floor of The Palm Tower, has earned the undisputed title of the world’s highest infinity pool; from 200 meters in the air, you’re blessed with unprecedented views over Dubai’s postcard-perfect skyline — the Palm Jumeirah, the sailboat-shaped Burj Al Arab, and the yacht-filled Marina are included.

Aside from being an Instagrammer’s dream come true, this stunning pool is also a haven for relaxation and pampering. Take a dip in its infinity edge while watching the sunset, or unwind at the indoor lounge where you can get some reprieve from the sizzling sun.

For an extra special treat, book a yoga class (unofficially the highest in the world) or indulge in a massage with a view. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just want to treat yourself, AURA Skypool is an experience not to be missed.

If that’s not enough, AURA Skypool also hosts special events. The New Year’s Eve celebrations present (as you’d expect) spectacular vantage points for the fireworks, likewise the UAE National Day party in early December.

52 – Experience the very best of Dubai nightlife with a thirsty pub crawl

pub crawls in Dubai

You’re on vacation, after all, so why not let your hair down and see first-hand what Dubai’s high-energy nightlife scene is all about? Sure, you can hop around the city’s best rooftop bars or party it up at Dubai’s best nightclubs, but if you really want to see the city’s party scene from a local perspective, joining a locally-led pub crawl is an absolute must.

While each pub crawl is a little different, they all follow a similar format: start at one bar for some icebreaker drinks and snacks, then move on to the next, and so on, typically checking off at least 4 venues in the Marina or Downtown areas (depending on your crawl of choice). The booze will be flowing, the music will be pumping, and you can expect to make plenty of new friends along the way.

Plus, with a friendly and in-the-know local leading the way, not only will you get to see some of the city’s trendiest bars and clubs, but they’ll also be able to hit up some of the lesser-known local hotspots that you might not have found on your own.

With a lineup of classic and recent blockbusters hitting the 20-meter wide screen (just check the website to see what’s playing), there’s bound to be something that tickles your fancy if you’re in town for a few days.

And since it’s BYO (bring your own food and drinks in your car!), you can save some money by packing your own snacks instead of overpriced theatre concessions.

Just be sure to get there early to snag a good spot! If you’re after things to do in Dubai at night that don’t involve a massive party and won’t break the break, this is always a good option.

54 – Party it up at Dubai’s best nightclubs

best nightclubs in Dubai

Want to let your hair down? Sling back a couple of shots and dance till your feet turn blue? From world-famous party spots like White Beach Dubai , Billionaire Mansion Nightclub , and Zero Gravity to more intimate places like Boudoir (with its very French vibe) and the Cavalli Club (the longest-running club in the city), there’s plenty of nightlife options for every type of clubber.

Still searching? Tucked away in the Fairmont Hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road (where you’ll also find The Theatre) sits Coda, an underground party palace with international DJs and performers, and a handful of invite-only events. Another one for the bucket list is the BLU Club in Al Habtoor City. Sitting on the 32nd floor of the V Hotel, not only do you get an ultra-luxe interior, but you’re also treated to stunning views of the Arabian Gulf and Dubai Water Canal.

Not to be overlooked is Armani/Prive (with a terrace designed by Giorgio Armani himself), Sky 2.0, and the Soho Garden Palm Jumeirah, each putting their unique spin on the Dubai nightclub scene.

And if you need a little liquid courage before hitting the dancefloor, don’t worry – just scroll up to and have a few pre-drinks at one of the best rooftop bars in the city.

How to get to Dubai?

Dubai sits on the shores of the Arabian Gulf, in the eponymous emirate, straddling the line between sand and sea, making it a bucket list destination for travelers from all over the world. Since the UAE is enormous (and mostly desert), unless you’re already in Abu Dhabi, you’ll almost certainly be flying in. The city is served by two airports: Dubai International Airport (odds are you’ll arrive here) and Al Maktoum International Airport.

You’re on vacation, after all! So why worry about hailing a taxi or taking the bus when you could just sit back and relax in the comfort of a private car? Many visitors recommend booking one of the pre-arranged airport transfers in Dubai so they can avoid the stress of trying to find a ride after a long flight.

You can easily book one online – and with a range of options to suit all budgets, from simple shuttle cars to luxury limos, it’s worth considering if you want to make your vacation as seamless and relaxing as possible.

Arriving by boat? Thanks to its seaside location, Dubai is also a popular stop for many cruise ships. And just like with airport transfers, you can pre-book shore excursions in Dubai so you can make the most of your time on land. Whether it’s a guided tour of the city or a desert safari adventure, there are myriad options to choose from.

Where to stay in Dubai?

The iconic sail-shaped hotel that is the Burj Al Arab , often hailed as the world’s most luxurious, is one of Dubai’s most popular tourist attractions. While it may be expensive to get a room here (they start at a whopping $1,500 USD per night), even if you’re not staying you can still enjoy the property’s many amenities, including its gorgeous pools, and private beach club, and multiple restaurants and bars.

Almost as famous, Atlantis The Palm is a beacon of style and excess, known for its towering waterpark slides, a massive aquarium, and celebrity-chef restaurants. If you’re on a budget, the Premier Inn Dubai International Airport is a great option that’s still close to all the action – it’s just a short metro ride away from all the major attractions.

Other good options include Jumeirah Beach Hotel , Al Qasr Hotel (both located on Jumeirah Beach), and Habtoor Grand Resort & Spa (great for those in search of a good old pampering). If you want to stay close to the Burj Khalifa and Downtown Dubai, consider the Armani Hotel Dubai , Address Boulevard , or Vida Downtown Dubai .

For something a little different, check out The Retreat Palm Dubai MGallery by Sofitel – it’s located on the man-made Palm Island and essentially has its very own lagoon!

Visiting Dubai on a budget?

Sure, its moniker is the City of Gold, but that doesn’t mean you need to break the bank in order to make the most out of your Dubai adventure. In fact, with budget-friendly options like the Dubai Pass (scroll up to learn more), you can experience all that this glittering city has to offer without the admission prices stacking up.

Also, don’t overlook the overwhelming collection of free things to do in Dubai. Pop into the stunning Jumeirah Mosque, wander through the colorful spice souk, or take a stroll along the iconic Palm Jumeirah boardwalk – all without spending a dirham.

Final thoughts

So there you have it – the ultimate list of fun things to do in Dubai at night! Whether you’re looking for a wild night out or a more low-key evening, everyone has something on this list.

Night Dubai City Tour

In the last decade Dubai has been drastically transformed into a luxurious and modern mega polis yet it gently holds on to its heritage and this tour will certainly give one a glimpse of this fascinating blend.

In this tour, we will try and take a look in the older parts of Dubai and provide a lot of historical information that will put the growth and development into the context of time.

We will go over some key historical landmarks and our tour guide will provide you a lot of well research information to add to the visuals you will be absorbing. Take a look at the itinerary below for a more detailed explanation of what you can expect on this tour.

Tour Highlights

The tour will begin at Dubai Mall, at the fountain show where you will see one of the most famous attractions that Dubai has to offer – the dancing fountains. Its truly a unique sight and the magnitude of the ‘performance’ is really immense.

The Burj Khalifa, another one of Dubai’s most famous landmarks and the worlds tallest man made structure is located immediately adjacent to the fountains at Dubai Mall.

There are 2 options for this:

124th Floor – this is the regular experience.

148th Floor – this is the VIP experience. Note: currently the prices are changing daily and will be quoted manually for your trip/date.

The Atlantis has become another iconic building of a more recent era. Currently, it houses a lot of guests and locals. We will be making a photo stop infront of this magnificent building.

If all that was not enough, the final cherry on the cake will be a 45-60 minute boat ride through the now equally iconic area of Dubai called ‘Dubai Marina’. The area is a very well planned micro city built around an artificial canal and offers a surreal visual experience.

There are a couple of ways in which you can end the tour:

#1: BAR 44: One of Dubai’s best, yet not crowded bars that offers one of the best views of the cities. We can make a reservation at the bar and leave you at this beautiful venue to enjoy a couple of drinks to reflect on your interaction with this unique city.

#2: PACHA Night Club: If you are in the mood for something a little more lively, we can book you a Table at one of the hottest night clubs in Dubai and leave you for night full of dancing.

#3: Return to the Hotel: if you are not in the mood for a late night, we can end the tour back at your hotel.
