Trekking the western end of the Lycian way

A fabulous six day guided walk starting at Fethiye and finishing in Kas. We did this in the last week of September 2019 in a very small group (three plus guide). Days varied in length and difficulty, some are fairly strenuous and the heat is a challenge. They are accurately described on the Amber Travel website. The breadth of experience was wonderful, varied and extensive, supassing our expectations - coastal scenery, limestone gorges, pine forests, ancient history, sea swimming, staying in remote villages, tasty food, fresh fruit drinks and a final day climbing Mount Bozkaya. Our guide Ani was superb. Her knowledge of Turkish language, the area and its history enhanced our experience. She was also a very patient teacher as we tried to learn some Turkish! An unforgettable experience, many thanks indeed.

I can not recommend Paul and Amber Travel more highly. We had left booking our train travel to Izmir until a week before and had terrible trouble negotiating the web site. We were also unsure about connections and where we were going to get on and off. I eventually stumbled across Amber Travel on the net and immediately sent then an email explaining our travel plans. Paul came straight back to me with a couple of suggestions and reassured me that he could book tickets on my behalf and send them to me. We ended up taking a ferry and then a train. It was all organised with no additional cost. I would thoroughly recommend contacting them before you start freewheeling around Turkey for great advice and professional service.

A wonderfully well organised self-guided walking holiday in the stunning scenery of the Lycian Way. It was fabulous!

I have recently completed a 7 day self guided cycling to of the Lycian Way with 3 other family members. Paul from Amber Travel arranged all bikes, hotels, transfers, routes etc for the entire tour. All of us enjoyed it immensely the bikes were comfortable and importantly reliable, hotels were great all with pools ( fabulous after a day in the saddle) transfer of luggage was seamless and the route was a mix of amazing coastal scenery and rural roads. Thanks to Paul and everyone at Amber travel for a truly memorable experience.

I booked with Amber travel based in Kas for a one week Lykian way trekking holiday. I cannot fault Amber travel and they ran the tour regardless of numbers. Paul at Amber Travel is professional and responsive in all communications and organisation. Anni was a great and patient guide on the Lykian way trek and was very efficient in communicating plan for each days hike and the different options available if you didn't want to hike a full day. Anni also explained some of the history as we trekked along our different routes. All of the different types accommodation in different but brilliant locations made the holiday all the more enjoyable being a mixture of hotels and more low key homespun guest houses and lodges. I would rate the Lykian way trekking experience with Amber Travel A* and this has been one of the best holidays I have been on in all my years of being fortunate to travel. However the Lykian way is for the above average walker and be prepared for walking in the heat especially in September but this did not detract from my holiday experience. I loved the history of the Lykian area and the hospitality from the accommodation owners was faultless. All the luggage transfers and airport transfers were arranged without a hitch. I would highly recommend Amber Travel as a reliable and professional tour operator. I hope to be able to try another tour with Amber Travel next year or in the future. The tour was great value for money and delivered in terms of a real Turkey experience and being in tune with the natural environment and it's flora and fauna.
