When an event has been around for 13 years, it's usually time to shake things up. And while Ozzfest chose to do that by going free, the Vans Warped tour opted to piece together one of its most diverse rosters to date. While not a metal tour, it does feature a hand full of heavier metalcore and screamo bands, most notably Norma Jean, As I Lay Dying, Funeral For A Friend, Haste The Day, Parkway Drive, and Maylene and the Sons of Disaster.

The tour, which will kick off June 28 at Chula Vista, California's Coors Amphitheater, is currently slated to play 45 shows through an August 25 date in Los Angeles with a lineup that includes Coheed and Cambria, Bad Religion, New Found Glory, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Cute Is What We Aim For, Bayside and Canadian rapper K-os.

Among the other groups that will be on the road with Warped all summer are Amber Pacific, Circa Survive, Tiger Army, Escape the Fate, Hot Rod Circuit, Big D and the Kids Table, Paramore, Gallows, the Matches, the Fabulous Rudies, Meg and Dia, All Time Low, Bleed the Dream, the Unseen, Spill Canvas, Evaline, Bless the Fall, Boys Like Girls, My American Heart, Vincent Black Shadow, Throw the Fight and Pepper.

Tour founder Kevin Lyman said he had plenty of options to choose from when putting together the roster. "We received over 4,000 submissions, so in booking the tour this year I felt that a diverse lineup was in order," he said in a press release announcing the dates. "The tour has always been a place to explore and discover new music. This year's lineup has old school, emo, punk, screamo, hip-hop, more ska than you have seen in a long time and everything in between. If you're open-minded, this will be a great show."

Members of the online Warped community will get their annual shot at Internet presale tickets starting April 1, where they'll be offered a ticket and a copy of the Warped Tour double-disc compilation for $19.99.

Among the other acts scheduled to play select dates are: A Static Lullaby, the Actual, Agent Orange, Alesana, Alkaline Trio, the Almost, Anberlin, As Cities Burn, As I Lay Dying, the Automatic, Biffy Clyro, the Briefs, the Briggs, Buck O Nine, Cinematic Sunrise, the Confession, the Dear and Departed, Drop Dead Gorgeous, Envy on the Coast, the Fall of Troy, Family Force 5, Fishbone, Flogging Molly, the Fold, Funeral for a Friend, the Graduate, Haste the Day, Hawthorne Heights, Human Abstract, I Am Ghost, Madina Lake, Mayday Parade, Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, New Year's Day, Norma Jean, Parkway Drive, Pennywise, Pistolita, Play Radio Play, POS, Poison the Well, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Set Your Goals, So They Say, the Starting Line, Straylight Run, Supernova, the Toasters, Underoath, the Used, Valencia, The Vandals and Yellowcard.

More bands and dates are expected to be added in coming months.

Wow. I feel sorry for Bad Religion. They're the only good band here, stuck all summer with all of these sh**ty bands. I'd rather go see Freefest, obviously.

Pennywise, As I Lay Dying, Human Abstract, maybe Norma Jean. Only good bands there

If you have scars on your wrists, YOU are the targeted demographic for this tour. The people who would attend a show like this have a pathetic f***ing hopeless mindset. The only year I even CONSIDERED going to the Warped Tour was the year when the Offspring headlined. I'm not gonne lie, they're my guilty pleasure.

7. crazedmind writes:

i like the metalcore and screamo bands this year, like underoath, parkway drive, a static lulaby, FFAF. but some good ones such as as i lay and norma jean arent even playimg all the dates. ill still go, but its more of a punk show this year. i guess thats what warped is all about though anyways.

8. a12ctic writes:

this is a piss in the face to metalcore fans, why would norma jean even agree to be on such a piss-poor line up....

9. Skript writes:

Only good band on that lineup is Parkway drive

10. Hayden Graham writes:

11. AK47 writes:

12. BodomBastard writes:

FUKK YEAH!!!!!!!!!

19. StabbingTheDrama writes:

I hate when people leave comments thinking that they know everyone. "don't speak down on bands you know nothing of" If we don't like a band there's a f***ing reason for it dumbass.

20. dan writes:

when theres bands i dont like, i just take a nap. besides, theres plenty of other things to do at tours like that

21. slayerdisciple writes:

damn this is an emo persons dream come true, why cant i get a black metal tour with extreme quality to come to the US, o well just hand out knives at the beginning of each show and prepare for suicide

22. Angry Mob Justice writes:

I'm going to make a fortune sitting outside this show selling razor blades to all the emo kids.

23. Stephen writes:

Selling razor blades at the Warped Tour. That's a damned business goldmine. And a f***ing funny idea. Just tell the kids that the blade you're selling is the one the guy from New Found Glory used on himself when he was 12 and you'll make a fortune.

HORNS DOWN! /w\ /w\

24. slayerdisciple writes:

i know im gonna do that at the VA beach date i cant believe no one thought of it before

25. AK47 writes:

AS I LAY DYING IS STILL THE ONLY GOOD BAND HERE AND I FEEL SORRY FOR THEM!

26. pacifront83 writes:

too bad their arent a good amount of hardcore punk bands playing, but then again all the fans would call them a bunch of "sell- outs". I heard their has always been hot a$$ girls their? But im looking forward to sounds of the Underground, hope fully that ell be toight

R.I.P. Warped Tour. At Least We Still Have Vans.

The skater company says goodbye to the music festival that made it cool.

vans warped tour 07

By Medea Giordano

The Vans Warped Tour — the music festival that has crossed the country each year since 1995, and is frequently called a “punk rock summer camp” — is on its last run.

For 24 years, the Warped Tour created spaces for metal, punk and ska fans to meet their idols and mosh together under the hot sun: Each summer, about 70 bands and artists would play in some 40 locations, welcoming hundreds of thousands of tattooed concertgoers clad in band tees and Vans checkered slip-ons. Many musical acts that helped define the late 1990s and early 2000s graced Warped Tour’s stages, including Blink-182, Reel Big Fish and Eminem .

But recently, the show’s popularity has declined, among both bands and attendees. Some music festivals are bigger than ever — Coachella drew more than 200,000 people to the California desert for two days in April — but the Warped Tour doesn’t have the same cultural cache it once had.

“The die-hard Warped fan was still coming, but the ones for the future seemed to drop off,” said the festival’s founder and longtime producer Kevin Lyman in an email.

He said there is the possibility for other Warped Tour events down the line — including for the 25th anniversary next summer — but 2018 will be the final cross-country blowout. “I’ve done everything I can in this format,” he said. “I’m just tired. It’s time for someone else to continue or start something new.”

The final tour not only marks the end of an era in music, but of a particularly intimate brand collaboration. Vans has sponsored the Warped Tour since its second year and credits the festival with burnishing its countercultural image.

“Until we got involved with the Warped Tour, we didn’t have a national footprint to talk about who we are,” said Doug Palladini, the skate apparel company’s global brand president. “Vans is a brand that really embraces individuality, and Warped Tour is very much the same.”

Vans representatives said that the Warped Tour — which the company has a 75 percent stake in — isn’t ending because of a decline in ticket sales, and that its retirement shouldn’t be seen as divestment in music or skater culture. House of Vans, an indoor skate park and music venue with locations in Brooklyn, Chicago and London, and pop-ups around the world, will continue to host famous musicians and local, unsigned performers, and admission is free.

But the collaboration between Vans and the Warped Tour has run its course.

“We’re going to make this a part of Vans history and always hold it up as a really, really important part of who we are,” Mr. Palladini said. “It’s just the right time to put a bow on it and say thank you to all the bands and all the fans that made Warped Tour was it is.”

“One Big Family”

Vans was already synonymous with southern California skateboard culture in the 1990s when the Warped Tour started, thanks to the sneakers’ sticky soles. (They have good grip.) But the tour’s national popularity helped establish Vans as a punk brand, and that image has made the company incredibly appealing, especially to shoppers ages 16 to 34 .

In 2004, when Vans was acquired by VF Corporation — which owns JanSport, Timberland and the North Face — it was making about $325 million in sales a year. This year, Mr. Palladini said, Vans is on track to surpass $3 billion.

The first Vans store, which was known at the time as the Van Doren Rubber Company and opened its doors in Anaheim, Calif., in March 1966, was a much humbler affair. It was founded by Paul and Jim Van Doren, brothers who would take custom orders and manufacture shoes on site. Eventually the shoes’ waffle soles attracted skateboarders, and in 1976, Tony Alva and Stacy Peralta — pro-skaters who were immortalized by Victor Rasuk and John Robinson in the 2005 film “Lords of Dogtown” — designed the Era , a low-top sneaker that became a Vans classic.

There were other moments in which Vans shoes were in the countercultural spotlight, including a 1982 cameo courtesy of Sean Penn’s Jeff Spicoli character in the movie “Fast Times at Ridgemont High .” But the company’s punk identity wasn’t forged until Mr. Lyman met Steve Van Doren.

A former Lollapalooza stage manager, Mr. Lyman had put together the first Warped Tour in 1995, with bands like Sublime and No Doubt on the original lineup. But he needed financial support to keep it going and was seeking sponsorship.

Steve Van Doren, the son of the Vans co-founder Paul Van Doren, was on a different mission. Separately, he was searching for someone to help him plan an amateur skate contest that would tour across the U.S. and the world. He met with Mr. Lyman, who said Vans would draw more people to skate events if live music were on the lineup.

In “Vans: Off the Wall,” a book about the company, Mr. Van Doren said that a deal was forged between the two men within 15 minutes of their meeting. Thus, the Vans Warped Tour was born.

“ Steve Van Doren. He always got it and was the driving force early in this relationship,” Mr. Lyman said. “After our first year with Vans, Airwalk approached me and offered a bunch of money to leave and go with them. I said hell no, and it was all because of Steve. Steve Van Doren continues to be the soul of Vans in my mind.”

“The Vans Warped Tour is one big family,” Mr. Van Doren said in an interview. He recalled his first summer, in which he drove from stop to stop on the tour in a van with his daughter. Though he opted to take the relatively cushy bus after that, he said he went to every Warped Tour show for 15 years.

The People’s Music Festival

Today’s popular music festivals often charge a steep price for big-name performers. A three-day general admission pass to Coachella, for example, can run $500, or close to $1,000 for a V.I.P. ticket. The Warped Tour, by comparison, costs about $45, and there is no hierarchy to the ticketing system. Even the bigger bands are never given special treatment, Mr. Van Doren said. The whole point is accessibility: There are no extra fees to meet artists, and fans can visit bands at their tents or run into them in the crowd during another performance.

“When you monetize a handshake, it changes the whole relationship,” Mr. Lyman said.

The Warped founder guessed that, of all the tour’s performers, Andrew W.K. probably spent the most time with fans. He would “sign for six hours and then go outside and sign some more. I would have to ask him to move since we needed to load the trucks to get to the next city,” Mr. Lyman said.

“Warped is a festival for the music and for the organizations that travel with it,” said Victoria Hudgins, a 23-year-old Warped Tour fan who has attended twice before. “I feel as though the younger crowd these days are more interested in putting their picture from Coachella on Instagram than they are actually going to and enjoying the festival itself. You don’t go to Warped for an Instagram picture, you go to Warped to be a part of something so big and so crazy.”

Ms. Hudgins had planned to buy tickets for two stops on the Warped Tour this summer — one in her home state of Michigan and the tour’s final show in Florida — before she got the opportunity to work on the tour full-time. (She is working for Support Tattoos and Piercings at Work, which sets up a tent at each city the tour visits, after volunteering for the organization last year.)

“To me this is going to be a summer where I feel like I’m going to fit in everywhere I am,” she said. “This is going to be a summer meeting an entire country of people. I can be a part of something so much bigger than just myself.”

Loyalty, Loyalty, Loyalty

While the Warped Tour has declined in popularity, Vans has become a global phenomenon. Between 2010 and 2014, it saw double-digit growth every year, and in 2017, the company surpassed the North Face as the VF Corporation’s top-selling brand. The shoes are just as visible in high fashion as they are in the skate park, and they have gotten musical shout-outs from young artists like Travis Mills and Ty Dolla $ign . (In 2011, the actress Kristen Stewart literally cemented the shoes into pop culture history when she wore a pair to her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony .)

“All of a sudden, everywhere I looked, it was Vans,” said Samantha Brown , a stylist and video director who has worked with Nylon magazine, Marc Jacobs and Oscar de la Renta. “They kind of make everything look cooler.”

But just as the Warped Tour kept its ticket prices down out of loyalty to its fan base — and even let parents in for free — Vans has no plans to charge more for their increasingly popular apparel. (Shoes run from about $60 to $100.) The company’s prevailing wisdom, Mr. Palladini said, is around inclusivity. “And a part of inclusivity is accessible price points.”

For Steve Van Doren, who is now the vice president of events and promotions, it’s important that the company not forget its roots. “Skaters in the mid ’70s adopted us, and I thank them still four decades later because they gave us meaning,” he said. “They gave us purpose.”

The Bands Scheduled to Play the Full Vans Warped Tour

No matter which date you catch, you can catch these bands

  • Alternative Music
  • Classical Music
  • Country Music
  • Rap & Hip Hop
  • Rhythm & Blues
  • World Music
  • Heavy Metal
  • Latin Music

With so many bands assembled for this year’s Warped Tour, but not all of them scheduled to appear at every date, it gets tough to figure out who’s going to playing on your specific city.

The bands listed below are currently scheduled to appear on the entire 2010 Vans Warped Tour, so this is a good place to start figuring out exactly who to look forward to

After Midnight Project (Los Angeles, CA) – Fronted by Jason Evigan, the son of actor Greg Evigan, this rock band has performing in its blood. As a result, they are known for their energetic live sets that connect with the crowd. (Official Site)

Alesana (Raleigh, NC) – This screamo band is no newcomer to the Warped Tour, so if you’ve attended before, you know what you’re in for. If you’ve not heard them before, expect metal riffs and vocals roughly harmonized with screaming. Lots of screaming. If screaming is your thing, these guys are on the top of their game. (MySpace Site)

Alkaline Trio (Chicago, IL) – A band known for smart songwriting and a great sound in their early days, before blatant pandering left them a shell of their former awesome selves. Their latest release on Epitaph Records, This Addiction shows a band beginning to reclaim their former glory. (Official Site)

AM Taxi (Chicago, IL) – If the Gaslight Anthem are punk rock's take on Springsteen, then Chicago’s AM Taxi are punk rock's take on Gaslight Anthem. Mixing great songwriting with elements of old-school punk with influences like Clash-fueled reggae, world beat and pure pop, this is a band poised to be one of the most exciting, innovative bands on the tour. (MySpace Site)

Anarbor (Phoenix, AZ) – This pop rock band has attained more success than many realize. Despite a relatively low profile, their music has appeared on multiple TV and movie scores, and is a regular part of ESPN’s Sports Center . They did a few dates on the Warped Tour last year, and a longer runs this year might symbolize that now that the band is successful, they’re pushing to be famous as well. (Official Site)

Andrew W.K. (New York, NY) – A classically trained musician, Andrew W.K. may not have invented the “party hard” punk rock sound but he certainly perfected it. Although recent years have seen him doing TV and producing records, I’m hoping his return to the stage of Warped will be similar to his last time on its mainstage, which was a supersoaker-fueled rager of positive energy. This guy comes to party, and doesn’t leave until everyone is partied out. (Official Site)

Artist Vs Poet – (Dallas, TX) This powerpop band has grabbed the attention of both Fearless Records and the Warped Tour based on their solid songwriting and DIY attitude. The product of the dissolution of a few other bands, Artist Vs Poet wield catchy beats and infectious melodies on their four-song EP, with a full-length due this spring. (MySpace Site)

Attack Attack (Columbus, OH) – One can’t help but be intrigues by this band from Ohio, which will deliver heavy metal riffs and grotesquely screamed vocals at one moment, and electronic danceability the second. Live, I’m thinking it will either be impressive, or impressively hilarious. (MySpace Site)

Automatic Loveletter (Tampa, FL) – Fronted by Juliet Sims (who has lent vocals to songs by Cartel, Secondhand Serenade and All Time Low), this heavily acoustic combo will bring a soothing influence to whatever stage they’re on. (MySpace Site)

Breathe Carolina (Denver, CO) – Another band playing the odd combo of screamo and electronic, these kids from Colorado mix layered dance music with the occasional power scream. The full package is pure electrofun, and upbeat even when the lyrics are about boys with broken hearts. (MySpace Site)

Breathe Electric (Lake County, IL) – This electropop outfit is just Grant Harris in the studio, but expands to a three-piece when he takes it on the road. Drawing influence from pop, electronica, hip hop, and indie rock, Breathe Electric is often compared to bands like Hellogoodbye and PlayRadioPlay. (MySpace Site)

Bring Me The Horizon (Sheffield, England) – This British band fuses death metal and hardcore into a conglomeration that’s been referred to as deathcore. Whatever you want to call it, it’s intense and heavy, grabbing this band accolades and nominations as both the best and worst band in the UK. (MySpace Site)

The Cab (Las Vegas, NV) – Made up of four kids barely out of high school, this powerpop group that boasts an impressive list of associated acts. They’ve toured with bands like Panic! at the Disco, Cobra Starship and Forever the Sickest Kids and recorded with members of Panic! and Fall Out Boy - odds are, you’re in for a slick set from a band poised to blow up. (Official Site)

The Casualties (New York City, NY) – A solid presence on the punk scene for over a decade and an unapologetic adherence to the principles of old school street punk makes the Casualties one of the best – and the punkest – picks for this years Warped Tour. Their set will be fast, loud and memorable. (MySpace Site)

Closure in Moscow (Melbourne, Australia) – A prog/psychedelic group from Down Under, Closure in Moscow has been heavily compared to other posthardcore prog bands like Coheed & Cambria and Saosin. Allusions to forefathers like King Crimson are not off base, either, as they pick up the old sounds and make them their own - without screaming, a plus in my book. (MySpace Site)

Confide (Los Angeles, California) – This Christian post-hardcore band started as a deathcore band in 2004, but multiple lineup changes have left the band with only one original member and a slant that’s decidedly more screamo. If you catch their set, listen for their cover of the Postal’ Service’s "Such Great Heights,” which while much heavier than the original obviously, begs the question of whether it really needed to be done. (MySpace Site)

The Dillinger Escape Plan (Morris Plains, NJ) – A “mathcore” band out of New Jersey, Dillinger Escape Plan combines complex riffs and growled vocals into an aggressive wall of sound. What’s more impressive than their music, though, is their live show. Expect… well expect anything, and be prepared for some furious energy and quite possibly frontman Greg Puciato flying over – or stepping on – your head. (MySpace Site)

Emarosa (Lexington, KY) – With the addition of frontman Jonny Craig (of Dance Gavin Dance) in 2007, this band moved away from screamo and more toward the melodic post-hardcore they’re best known for. Fresh out of the studio for the Warped Tour, expect new material and booming riffs. ( MySpace Site )

Emmure (New Fairfield, CT) – If you want some metal at the Warped Tour this year, you’re not going to find one more metal than these guys. Emmure will be bringing its combination of heavy issues and heavier music, and even if you don’t know what they’re talking about, you’ll fit right in as long as you can bang your head. ( MySpace Site )

Eyes Set To Kill (Phoenix, AZ) – This female-fronted post-hardcore band features the melodic vocals of guitarist Alexia Rodriguez, and her sister Anissa on bass. Whether it’s the female influence or simple musical talent, the band employs harmonies much more hypnotic and complex than a lot of the standard fare. ( MySpace Site )

Face To Face (Victorville, CA) – These skate-punk playing Fat Wreck Chords veterans were a staple in every proper punk’s record collection, and their breakup in 2003 was a sad day indeed. A few years later, 2008 saw the joyful reunion of these heavyhitters, and the entire Warped Tour this year will be privy to a set from a band that has attained legendary status. ( Official Site )

Fake Problems (Naples, Florida) – Mixing mandolin, violin, steel guitar and horns into the standard punk sound, Fake Problems drops more than a little folksiness and country twang into their sound, along with smart songwriting. ( Official Site )

Far From Finished (Boston, MA) - If you’re lamenting the lack of the Street Dogs on this year’s Warped Tour, check out Far From Finished. These guys carry the Boston streetpunk banner just as high and as proudly as their more well known peers. ( Myspace Site )

Fight Fair (San Diego, CA) – Adding to the pop punk roster this year is this group. Their debut full-length is due in 2010, but based on their previous EPs, we’re in for plenty of upbeat pop punk beats in the same vein of bands like Bowling For Soup. ( MySpace Site )

Gardening, Not Architecture (Los Angeles, CA) A collaboration between singer/songwriter Sarah Saturday and producer Beau Sorenson, Gardening, Not Architure is a fuzzy ethereal dreampop band. Originally intended as a studio-only project, the duo put together a live show due to public demand. Fans of old dreampop bands like Cure are really in for a treat when this band brings a sound to the stage that has been woefully neglected in recent years.

Hey Monday (West Palm Beach, FL) – Fresh-faced musicians, female vocals and a wholesome sound make these kids more power pop than pop punk. Could this be the next Paramore? If so, do we need another Paramore? (Official Site)

I Can Make A Mess Like Nobody’s Business (Hammonton, NJ) – The side project of former Early November frontman Ace Enders, I Can Make A Mess Like Nobody’s Business is a blend of mellow, artfully crafted folk and ambient sounds. (MySpace Site)

In Fear and Faith (Sand Diego, CA) – Yet another band with regular and screamed vocals, In Fear and Faith sets itself apart from the other bands by playing music heavy enough that the singing parts are the ones more out of place. ( MySpace Site )

Left Alone (Wilmington, CA) – Another one of the “true” punk bands on this year’s roster, Left Alone is a band that got their start as the Warped Tour BBQ Band in 2004 and 2005. This time the band that plays a mix of three-chord punk, ska and a hint of twang will be doing Warped without having to cook their way through. MySpace Site

Mayday Parade (Tallahassee, FL) – A recent addition to Atlantic Records, this is their third year with Warped. They boast an emo-pop sound that is slick, polished and emotional, if not overly deep. (Official Site)

NeverShoutNever! (Joplin, MO) - The alias of acoustic/pop artist Christofer Drew, NeverShoutNever! will be bringing syrupy sweet acoustic pop love songs to the Warped stages again this summer. He’s up for a challenge - can his sound can cut through the cynicism and louder preferences of the typical Warped tour attendee? (MySpace Site)

Of Mice and Men (Costa Mesa, CA) – Founded by original Attack Attack frontman Austin Carlile, Of Mice and Men already have a buzz surrounding them. They play the tight, fast post-hardcore that has become a Warped standard. (MySpace Site)

Parkway Drive (Byron Bay, Australia) – Adding to this year’s international contingent is this metal outfit with solid hardcore roots. Blistering guitars and guttural vocals have captured this band a solid following Down Under, and their sound should fare as well in the States. (MySpace Site)

Pierce The Veil (San Diego, CA) – A prog/post-hardcore band formed by brothers Vic and Mike Fuentes (who are also members of the supergroup Isles & Glaciers with Craig Owens of Chiodos and Jonny Craig of Emarosa), Pierce The Veil are Warped and Taste of Chaos veterans. Their sound is complex and convoluted, an all-over-the-place amalgam that’s hard not to find good – and bad – elements in. (MySpace Site)

Mike Posner (Southfield, MI) – He’s a singer/songwriter/producer who’s collaborated with Big Sean and 3OH!3, and at the risk of sounding elitist, I think I may have him pegged as the one musician who doesn’t fit into the scope of the Warped Tour at all. (MySpace Site)

The Pretty Reckless (New York, NY) – If you’re looking for a celebrity on the Warped Tour stage, The Pretty Reckless set will be the one to catch. The band is fronted by one Taylor Momsen, better know for playing Jenny Humphrey on the CW televeision series Gossip Girl . It’s more than gimmick, though, as The Pretty Reckless plays raw, dirty rock that picks up where the grunge bands of the ‘90s left off. (MySpace Site)

The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band (Indianapolis, IN) – They only have three members, but the misnomer is easy to overlook once you hear their music, a frantic version of Delta Blues (complete with washboard) that has landed the band slots touring with Flogging Molly, a slot on Springer and now a run on Warped. (MySpace Site)

Riverboat Gamblers (Denton, TX) – One of the most energetic live shows I’ve ever seen, Riverboat Gamblers frontman Mike Wiebe is known for spending as much time in the crowd and climbing the walls as he does onstage. This tour should include a fully-recovered Ian MacDougall, the guitarist hit by a car in 2009. (Official Site)

The Rocket Summer (Dallas/Fort Worth, TX) – This indiepop outfit is the brainchild of Stephen Bryce Avary, a guy who writes, plays and produces every note on his albums. On the road he has a band, but his vision of upbeat, melodic, indie rhythms should carry through just fine. (Official Site)

Set Your Goals (Orinda, CA) – Meshing pop punk with melodic hardcore, Set Your Goals is a band that fits well on the Epitaph label. Their positive hardcore sounds conjure up elements of Lifetime and Save The Day, but their delivery is very fresh. (MySpace Site)

The Sparring (Orange County, CA) – Fronted by former Tiger Army drummer Joel Bourne, the Sparring are a band that delivers a reeling mass of street punk straight from the speakers to your head, not apologizing if it knocks you down. (MySpace Site)

Suicide Silence (Riverside, CA) - Suicide Silence is metal. When I say they’re metal, I mean they’re metal in that style of psychotically heavy guitars and incoherently gutturally growled vocals that makes you say “whoah, that’s metal.” (Official Site)

Sum 41 (Ajax, ON) – Since 2001's “Fat Lip,” these guys have managed to become a pretty familiar name on the scene. This is the band’s 4th time on Warped, and they always deliver a high-intensity set. (Official Site)

The Summer Set (Scottsdale, AZ) – More of the powerpop sound that's heavy on the Warped Tour, the Summer Set plays upbeat love songs heavily loaded with pop hooks and messy haircuts. (MySpace Site)

VersaEmerge (Port St. Lucie, Florida) - Fronted by Sierra Kusterbeck, this experimental pop-rock band often gets lumped in with Paramore. This does a disservice to the band’s thick rhythm sections topped by massive guitar hooks, and eventually everyone is going to realize this is the more complex of the two. (MySpace Site)

We Are The In Crowd (Poughkeepsie, NY) – This will most likely be one of those flash-in-the-pan pop outfits, even with a contract and a song on The Hills . Musically, they play upbeat pop, light on substance. (MySpace Site)

We The Kings (Bradenton, FL) – The most awesome part of this band is the fact that they share a record label from Tom Jones. Aside from the sheer awesomeness of that, they play upbeat pop punk that isn’t too terrible, but skews to a younger demo. (MySpace Site)

Whitechapel (Knoxville, TN) – Named for the location of the Jack the Ripper murders, this very easily could have been the music that Jack would have listened to, had he had an iPod. Whitechapel’s proficiency with brutal death metal has landed them tours with bands ranging from Parkway Drive to Cannibal Corpse – and I think I have pretty good guess which one they got along better with. (MySpace Site)

You Me At Six (Weybridge, England) – A fan favorite in the UK, You Me At Six have a perfect grasp of a sound that blends pop punk hooks with a bit of new wave energy. The kids like them on their side of the pond, and they’ll probably fare well stateside as well. (MySpace Site)

Incidents [ ]

Christofer Drew of NeverShoutNever hurt his foot badly during the Mansfield , Massachusetts stop of the tour on July 13, 2010. Drew was jumping off of a speaker and landed wrong on his foot. Drew says, "You know, I was jumping around the other day, and I--and we were in Boston or something like that, and I jumped off this high speaker, landed on my foot wrong, and it shattered under the pressure of the fall." Drew continued the tour with the injury.

26-year-old Curtis DeForest of Wichita, Kansas died during the Bonner Springs stop of the tour on August 2, 2010. [30] The cause of death is currently unknown but still under investigation by authorities. [30]

Following the Denver stop of the tour on August 8, 2010, Pennywise members Fletcher Dragge and Randy Bradbury were involved in an incident with Alesana on the band's RV . [31] Dragge and Bradbury were both intoxicated and mistakenly entered an empty RV believing it belonged to The Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band . [32] Alesana returned to find the men and asked them to leave. A scuffle broke out leading to police using a taser on Dragge and arresting him for assault . [32] Alesana dropped all charges. Fletcher followed suit by issuing an apology while taking full blame for the incident and both sides hold no bad feelings towards each other. [32]

Vans' Warped Tour '07 Shirt upvotes r/Metalcore. r/Metalcore. Metalcore (or metallic hardcore) is a fusion music genre that combines elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk. As with other styles blending metal and hardcore, metalcore is noted for its use of breakdowns, slow, intense passages conducive to moshing.
