Eden Project & Charlestown

Visit the Eden Project, - once a barren landscape - a former clay mine with no soil or plants. It has been transformed  into a beautiful global garden, which sets the stage for an extraordinary day out where you'll rediscover the natural world as you've never experienced it before. Explore massive covered Biomes to trek through the world's largest indoor rainforest and immerse yourself in the calm fragrance of the Mediterranean Biome. Enjoy extensive Outdoor Gardens, contemporary artworks, performance and storytelling. Discover places to rest, play and eat, and pick up inspiring ideas to take home on how to care for the planet that cares for you

Spend the whole day at the Eden Project or choose to go onto Charlestown, film location of Poldark and home to the Shipwreck Treasure Museum. NB Museum subject to seasonal opening and may not be open at the time of your visit. The Historic Port of Charlestown, a UNESCO World Heritage site and you'll also find some artisan shops, pub, restaurants and two beautiful beaches waiting to be discovered.

Fowey, Polperro & Cornish Coast

Start the day in the resort of Fowey, designated an area of outstanding natural beauty. With a natural harbour, it is a haven for yachtsmen and over the last few years Fowey has become a popular destination for passing cruise liners. The village of Polperro squeezes down the valley to a small harbour where tiny fisherman's cottages and sail lofts hang off the rocks. You can wander through the narrow streets and browse the shops full of handicrafts. (The main parking area is approximately 1/2 mile from the harbour - a gentle slope on the way down but of course, uphill on the way back up)

Day 4 Head back home today after breakfast with a comfort stop en-route for refreshments

Hotel information

The 3* Portbyhan Hotel is situated in an unrivalled position right in the heart of Looe, allowing guests to relish the panoramic views of the vibrant harbour with only a short stroll into Looe town.  The owners have invested heavily over recent years and have refurbished the exterior, bedrooms, restaurant, bar and public areas. These renovations, the location and the excellent services that the hotel offers have all contributed to the Portbyhan Hotel recently winning "Best Individual Hotel" at the prestigious National Coach Tourism Awards. There is tea/coffee in all rooms plus a hotel lift.

Coach seating arrangements

Your seats on the main coach will be allocated for you in advance, taking into consideration any special requests wherever possible. Your Tour Manager or driver will advise you where to sit as you board the coach. This will be your seat for the duration of the tour. (Seats are not allocated on any connecting services to and from the main coach.)

Joining your holiday

Your final travel documents, including the exact time and place of departure, will be sent to you approximately 7 days prior to departure, providing all payments have been made. We are unable to give exact departure times before this.

Meal arrangements

Where meals are not included, your Tour Manager will ensure there are suitable stops made for you to purchase and enjoy lunch and/or dinner each day.

Triple rooms

The majority of these consist of a double bed and an extra bed that is often only suitable for children. If this is a concern, you may wish to consider booking more than one room for your group.

Cornwall- Newquay, Fistral Bay and The Eden Project

Staying at the 4-star Esplanade Hotel Fistral Bay Our holiday to Cornwall stays at the newly re-furbished 4* Esplanade Hotel situated overlooking Fistral Bay known as being one of the coastal locations for surfboarding with the impressive waves rolling in from the ocean. As well as visiting Cornwall’s stunning coastline, we travel inland to the Eden Project for an included visit.

Our Itinerary DAY 1 After your home pick up we join our coach and travel southwest through Somerset and Devon with suitable refreshment stops to Cornwall and the 4* Esplanade Hotel for dinner and a stay of four nights. DAY 2 A free day to do as you please but for those that want we will drive you into Newquay which is about 1 ½ miles from our hotel. We will give you a tour around the resort and for those who wish, we will pick you up later. DAY 3 After breakfast, a full day included visit to The Eden Project allowing plenty of time to look around. This will give you a unique insight of the interaction between humans and plants. It is a visitor attraction created in a redundant China Clay Quarry. DAY 4 Today we have a morning visit to Truro, Cornwall’s only city and county capital. In the afternoon we then drive to Mevagissey. A small fishing village and harbour before returning to our hotel. DAY 5 Today we leave our hotel and drive over Bodmin Moor then North making suitable refreshment stops on route eventually arriving back for our door to door service to your home areas.

RHS Garden Bridgwater, Greater Manchester One of RHS’s newest attractions, this wonderful 156-acre garden is based at the historic site of Worsley New Hall, in Salford. One of the largest gardening projects in Europe is the perfect combination of history blended with world-class horticulture. Highlights of this Garden include one of the largest Victorian walled gardens in the UK, several beautiful large gardens as well as woodland, meadows and lakes.

RHS Garden Rosemoor, Devon Nestled in a North Devon Valley, Rosemoor is another of the stunning gardens run by the Royal Horticultural Society. This 65-acre haven has something to visit in every season from the cherry blossom in Spring to the aptly named Winter Garden. Make sure you don’t miss the Hot & Cool Garden as well as the Rose Gardens with over 250 different rose varieties.

RHS Wisley, Surrey RHS Wisley Gardens is one of the great gardens of the world. This historic home of the RHS is home to one of the largest plant collections in the world. There is so much to see here with gardens carefully curated for year-round colour. Wisley not only offers beautiful surrounding, but you you will also find RHS Hilltop, which is the UK’s first dedicated horticultural scientific centre of excellence.

The Eden Project Located in St Austell, Cornwall, the Eden Project us home to two massive covered domes (Biomes) which replicate different climates. Wander through the world’s largest indoor rainforest or discover the calm fragrance of the Mediterranean Biome. There are extensive outdoor gardens to be explored with over 20 plant based exhibits, art installations, play areas and colourful seasonal borders.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Cornwall The Lost Gardens of Heligan were discovered in 1990 to become one of Europe’s largest garden restoration projects. The gardens have been transformed and restored to some of the finest gardens in the UK. Explore the 200 acres of magical gardens, woodland walks and farmland and make sure you don’t miss the UK’s only outdoor jungle.

Ventnor Botanic Gardens, Isle of Wight With its own microclimate on the south coast of the Isle of Wight, this garden has a fantastic and unrivalled collection of subtropical plants grown unprotected out of doors. Make sure you take time to explore its impressive range of exotic plants and visit the large Tropical House.

The National Botanic Garden of Wales, Carmarthenshire Nestled in the west wales countryside, this Garden is dedicated to the research and conservation of biodiversity and the enjoyment of the visitor. There is no much to see and do including a British Bird of Prey Centre, Double Walled Garden and not forgetting The Great Glasshouse, designed by Norman Foster. It is the largest single span glasshouse in the world and is home to the largest collection of Mediterranean plants in the Northern Hemisphere.

Monet’s Garden, Giverny, France Home to the Master of Impressionism, Claude Monet, these beautiful gardens have been restored and replanted to his original designs. Visit the flower and water garden which were the inspiration for some of the artist’s most famous work.

Moscow Metro 2019

Will it be easy to find my way in the Moscow Metro? It is a question many visitors ask themselves before hitting the streets of the Russian capital. As metro is the main means of transport in Moscow – fast, reliable and safe – having some skills in using it will help make your visit more successful and smooth. On top of this, it is the most beautiful metro in the world !

. There are over 220 stations and 15 lines in the Moscow Metro. It is open from 6 am to 1 am. Trains come very frequently: during the rush hour you won't wait for more than 90 seconds! Distances between stations are quite long – 1,5 to 2 or even 3 kilometers. Metro runs inside the city borders only. To get to the airport you will need to take an onground train - Aeroexpress.

RATES AND TICKETS

Paper ticket A fee is fixed and does not depend on how far you go. There are tickets for a number of trips: 1, 2 or 60 trips; or for a number of days: 1, 3 days or a month. Your trips are recorded on a paper ticket. Ifyou buy a ticket for several trips you can share it with your traveling partner passing it from one to the other at the turnstile.

On every station there is cashier and machines (you can switch it to English). Cards and cash are accepted. 1 trip - 55 RUB 2 trips - 110 RUB

Tickets for 60 trips and day passes are available only at the cashier's.

60 rides - 1900 RUB

1 day - 230 RUB 3 days - 438 RUB 30 days - 2170 RUB.

The cheapest way to travel is buying Troyka card . It is a plastic card you can top up for any amount at the machine or at the ticket office. With it every trip costs 38 RUB in the metro and 21 RUB in a bus. You can get the card in any ticket office. Be prepared to leave a deposit of 50 RUB. You can get it back returning the card to the cashier.

SamsungPay, ApplePay and PayPass cards.

One turnstile at every station accept PayPass and payments with phones. It has a sticker with the logos and located next to the security's cabin.

GETTING ORIENTED

At the platfrom you will see one of these signs.

It indicates the line you are at now (line 6), shows the direction train run and the final stations. Numbers below there are of those lines you can change from this line.

In trains, stations are announced in Russian and English. In newer trains there are also visual indication of there you are on the line.

To change lines look for these signs. This one shows the way to line 2.

There are also signs on the platfrom. They will help you to havigate yourself. (To the lines 3 and 5 in this case).
