The Wild Safari Drive-Thru Adventure is once again a self-drive attraction at an extra charge (although free to Six Flags Members and Six Flags Great Adventure and Hurricane Harbor New Jersey pass holders). Drivers go on safari through the 350acre park with its 1,200 animals from six continents including elephants, rhinos, tigers, giraffes and lions. The drive takes between 1 and 3 hours depending on the pace of the driver.

Six Flags safari adds new animals, programs with opening day later this week

Guests will encounter a slew of new animals and notice several enhancements to their experience when the Six Flags’ safari re-opens for the season on Saturday.
The new additions are highlighted by Sawyer, a 6-year-old, 3,800 pound southern white rhinoceros and three giraffe calves, who were born at the safari in Jackson during the winter, Six Flags said.
Other animals who will make their debut at Six Flags Wild Safari Drive-Thru Adventure in 2022 are a pair of sable antelope calves, two red lechwe calves (a type of antelope), and two Asian water buffalo calves.
American bison, zebra, aoudad, kangaroo, dama gazelle and blackbuck will join the 350-acre safari through the spring.
This giraffe at the Six Flags Wild Safari Drive-Thru Adventure is joined by three baby giraffes this year. In all, the safari is home to 13 giraffes. Six Flags Great Adventure
Visitors who have visited in previous years will also notice a new audio tour. In addition, the five-mile road that takes guests through the safari has been widened and paved The safari entrance has also been refurbished.
The audio tour will be able to be steamed from mobile devices.
Six Flags has also beefed up its educational programs. Among the additions is Safari Off-Road Education — an offering in which guests ride in a giant, off-road vehicle with a personal tour guide and driver. Visitors choosing this option will have a chance to feed giraffes and interact up-close with small animals, Six Flags said.
The theme park opens April 2.
