Don’t have a car? Don’t let that keep you from enjoying one of our incredible experiences. Gatherall’s offers a convenient Shuttle Service with pick up locations at many St. John’s hotels.  Shuttle service is available for individual and group reservations ( contact Gatherall’s for group rates ) on select departures.

Gatherall’s will honour all reservations and we sail rain or shine, however, it does reserve the right to cancel or to delay a departure in which case we make every effort to notify reservation holders in advance.   Reservations can be rescheduled without penalty and cancellation of individual reservations ( 9 persons or fewer ) up to three (3) hours prior to the scheduled departure without penalty or cancellation fee charges – 50% cancellation fee applied if reservation is cancelled less than three (3) hours prior to the departure.  No charges will apply in the event of cancellation on the part of Gatherall’s. 

Once the reservation request page has been successfully completed, a unique booking number will be created and assigned to the reservation and a confirmation email will be sent to the reservation holder.  The confirmation email will include a link back to the booking should the reservation holder need to amend and or cancel the reservation ( in accordance with the terms & conditions agreed to at the time of booking ).

We had an excellent experience on Gatherall's Puffin and Whale excursion. The crew were great, knowledgeable, friendly, and entertaining. We saw numerous whales and thousands of birds, but even if we hadn't seen anything, it was a good experience. The trip started and ended precisely on time and included live Irish music.

Fantastic! Great mix of fun and science. Highly recommend. And check out the local crafts in the gift store.

We had a great time on our tour today! We were able to get up close to a humpback whale and her calf and lots of puffins. The crew are very knowledgeable and friendly, the customer service is definitely top notch, I think every crew member thanked us for coming as we left the boat. There is a souvenir/craft shop and cafe on site, which is full of all kinds of different unique souvenirs. I highly recommend this tour!

Could not have been better. The people are what makes it so fun. Must be family run, they obviously love their job. Saw the most whales on the 15 whale watching tour I have been on. Wow!!!! They were in a feeding frenzy. Restroom could use some directions on flushing toilet, but clean and good snacks and drinks too. This place has always been a great tour and a pleasure to ride on this big boat. The competitors boats are small and are not as stable as the catamaran. Nice gift shop that is not too expensive.

First time I went out on Gatheralls by far the best ever. I've never seen so many whales. It was amazing!! I've been on all the "others", so glad I made a change this time. Absolutely spectacular

The tour guides were really good and the scenery on the way to the puffin island was alright. However it was a foggy day and we saw NO whales, which is what I came to see. The puffins are an interesting sight which you can't see anywhere else but I'm looking at the other pictures on the yelp and trip advisors page and wishing I had seen those on my trip. The guides were also kind and sang songs for us making it an enjoyable trip. It was also cold and the waves were choppy, one person feel off their seat from waves alone. I wish I could have had a better view.

We never guarantee whale sightings as the ocean is large and we never know from once day to the next when, how or even if the whales will make an appearance. In Newfoundland we can experience a lot of different types of weather even in the summer and fog certainly is one of them. The fog however, does not bother the whales and it seems they just didn't feel like making themselves known during your tour. Whale watching is a lot about both patience and luck. I would encourage you to get out on the water again for another shot at it if it's something you would really like to experience. Fantastic experience and the crew was the best. Very knowledgeable of the area and had a great time all while being safe and ensuring the passengers where safe. Spotted a whale and they take there time to ensure all the passengers could see it if it surfaced again never rushed to get the boat back took the time to answer any questions about the whales and birds (not all puffins). Highly recommend this boat trip for any locals or visitors to the island.

Took the kids out on a whale watching tour and Gatherall's delivered. The crew narrated the entire trip and they were awesome! Everyone was super nice, knowledgeable, and funny! The puffins and gulls in the ecological reserves were plentiful. Got to see some humpback whales surfacing and breaching! It was a site to see and the kids loved it. My 2 year fell asleep and the captain invited us to sit in the wheelhouse. Would definitely recommend this tour!

Must do while on the Island of Newfoundland. Great tour and crew is very accommodating, even while and upset toddler in tow. Humpbacks right out the bay playing and of course tons and tons of puffins and other seabirds on the island.

We had such a great time! All of the crew members were friendly, engaging, and helpful. They had heard there were Humpbacks - the first of the year - and searched them out so that we could see them. We saw 3 Humpbacks, 2 Minkes, and literally thousands of puffins. And, oh yeah, 3 icebergs. Truly an amazing trip.

From Downtown St. John’s

• Take the Harbour Arterial (Route 2) South to Mount Pearl and exit at Route 3 (Mt. Pearl Commonwealth Ave.)
• Turn Left under the underpass proceeding on Route 3 and continue to Bay Bulls (aprox. 22 Km)
• Once in Bay Bulls, turn left on St. John’s Road – go .5km
• Continue right on South Side road – .3 km
• Turn left at Lower Road to O’Brien’s Boat Tours
• Estimated time is 30 Minutes from downtown St. John’s. Please allow extra time if you are unsure about the route.

From St. John’s Airport

• Exiting from the Airport turn left on Portugal Cove Road
• Go through the first set of traffic lights and take the TCH west exit (Route 1)
• Continue west on the TCH to the exit 41B – to Route 2- Mount Pearl and St. John’s (Downtown)
• From Route 2 take the third Mount Pearl Exit -to Route 3- Irish Loop Drive, & Goulds
• Turn right on Route 3 and continue to Bay Bulls (Aprox. 22km)
• Once in Bay Bulls,turn left on St. John’s Road – go .5km

From Trans Canada Highway (Travelling East)

• Take the Witless Bay Line exit 37 (Route 13) and proceed to the intersection of Witless Bay Line and Route 10.
• Turn left on Route 10- Go 1 km and turn right on Southside Road – travel 1km
• Turn right to O’Brien’s Whale and Bird Tours

Shuttle Service

For added convenience hop on our shuttle and leave the driving to us. This is a great option if you wish to enjoy the scenery on the drive from St. John’s to Bay Bulls. Relax with your fellow travellers and know that you’ll arrive safely and on time.

We offer return shuttle service from major hotels and registered B&Bs in the St. John’s area. Our shuttle will pick you up one hour before the scheduled tour time for downtown accommodations, outside of downtown pickup will be 1.5 hours before the tour time. Reservations required.
