Through the True Travel Foundation partnership with Seawilding, we are able to offer each client the opportunity to wholly offset the carbon emissions of their trip through donating to their Seagrass Restoration Programme.

The efforts of this programme include replanting 80 hectares of lost seagrass meadows across Loch Craignish, trialling new methodologies of seagrass replanting at scale and efficiently sequestering carbon from the atmosphere through marine restoration. Seagrass has the potential to sequester carbon at up to 35x the rate of rainforests, therefore making it an integral ingredient in fighting the climate crisis and offsetting the emissions of your trip.

We calculate the total carbon emissions for each trip through the Sustainable Travel International Calculator and are able to determine how much it would cost to offset this figure through Seawilding. You are then able to enjoy net-zero travel and contribute to a groundbreaking initiative that is paving the way for Blue Carbon projects across the world, making tangible steps to combatting Global Warming.

From childhood family holidays in the Med to backpacking through Malaysia and Thailand before working ski seasons in the French Alps, travel has always been a huge part of my life. West Indian family connections lead to a love of the Caribbean – there aren’t many islands left to tick off the list! In more recent years my choice of holiday has to suit my water sports fanatic husband Tim, two active children Holly and George and of course some R&R for me too.

From my bijou home office in Cheshire, I am constantly finding new ways to keep up to speed with what’s new in the world of travel; from the hottest destinations, latest hotel openings and ‘must do’ unique experiences. It’s all very well studying the travel press but nothing beats actually living the dream and being able to make personal recommendations so visiting all of these wonderful places is high on the agenda and all part of the job!

MY FAVOURITE PLACES

I am often asked, ‘where is your favourite place in the world’  if i have to name my top four, italy, the french alps, muscat and mustique make the cut, all for different reasons;.

This picture-perfect fishing village on the Italian Riviera enchants visitors with its pastel-coloured houses, high-end boutiques and seafood restaurants dotted around the small cobbled square facing the harbour lined with super-yachts. Take a day trip to La Cinque Terra or make the climb to Castello Brown, there’s only one place to stay here, the Hotel Splendido – elegantly perched on the hillside overlooking the bay of Portofino.  Think people watching, long lazy lunches and bathing under the balmy Italian sun by the salt water pool.

Les Trois Valles

One of the best ski areas in Europe with a superb range of affordable and luxury accommodation. Ski all day, indulge in fine French cuisine and wine and party into the early hours, the après ski is as good as the snow skiing. For a luxury central pad to rest your aching limbs after a long day on the slopes, Le Kaila hotel is located right next to the main lift station and caters for adults and children with modern Alpine interiors and delicious cuisine. Go in March – soft snow and sun!

Drive up to the mountains to take in a magical sunset, spend a night in a Bedouin tent in the desert, visit one of the beautiful mosques or bustling markets or enjoy a sunset cruise on a Dhow – a traditional Omani sailing boat. Stay at The Chedi – with hugely spacious suites, superior service and a state of the art spa and infinity lap pool, you don’t need to leave this dreamy hotel, but there is so much to see in Muscat and it’s perfect for a bit of winter sun.

Understated luxury at its best! Mustique is a pristine private island with a choice of individual private villas and boutique hotels such as the renowned Cotton House. The beautifully appointed rooms and suites here are dotted around pretty manicured gardens, many with Caribbean Sea views. Mustique highlights include dinner and dancing at Basil’s Bar, playing cricket and frolicking in the surf followed by a lobster BBQ at Macaroni Beach.  You might even meet Mick Jagger’s dog or the man himself!

Luxury hotel offers: Book a lavish stay for less with these discounts and packages

When scrolling through reams of online booking and discount sites, weeding out the hotel deals that offer quality at great value from those that are misleading or perhaps too good to true can be tricky. As an alternative, we've rounded up some of the best hotel offers available right now along with some of our top tips on finding a great deal...

How can you get good discounts on luxury hotels?

Sites like Booking.com , Laterooms , Expedia and Lastminute.com are a good place to start when looking for hotel offers in the UK and beyond, especially if you're booking at short notice. Secret Escapes is worth looking at for luxury hotel deals, as is Mr and Mrs Smith , though their best deals are most often available when you book far in advance.

When choosing accommodation through booking sites, be sure to check Tripadvisor for genuine reviews and star ratings, however, as some sites have their own star ratings that are slightly inflated.

Keeping your eyes peeled for news of hotel openings on sites such as Hoteldesigns may alert you to launch offers and new guest discounts, while signing up to the social media accounts and newsletters of hotels, spas and any other accommodation on your travel bucket list will mean you'll be the first to hear about seasonal deals and flash sales.

Are the best hotel offers found when going direct?

Going direct is often the best way to get a good hotel offer, as room rates can be cheaper (as the establishment isn't paying a third party booking fee or commission) and there may be special-rate packages available.

Booking through a hotel partner or travel agent, who have a direct relationship with the venue, is also a great way to bag a deal.

For example, a mid-week, one-night stay for two people in a Deluxe Room with breakfast at Raymond Blanc's five-star Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons in October 2024 is around £955 when booked via a booking website.

With Good Housekeeping's direct offer , the same room for two people on the same date in October with breakfast plus a glass of Champagne on arrival, a seven-course dinner with coffee and petits fours, a guided tour of the hotel gardens and orchards and a limited-edition 40th anniversary Bon Voyage Bag is £1370 (£685 per person). That's just £415 extra for fizz, dinner at a two-Michelin star restaurant, a garden tour and a luxury gift bag!

Do I need to be flexible to get a hotel deal?

Being flexible on dates will always help you get the best price for your stay. Opting for a mid-week or off-season getaway usually means you'll get a lower room rate, as demand isn't as high at those times. Avoiding public holidays, school holidays and seasonal events will also help you get the best deal possible.
