La compagnie aérienne signée TUI - TUI Fly - a vu le jour en 2004 en Belgique. Elle propose aujourd’hui près de 200 routes au sein de plus de 110 aéroports. Au départ de la France, vous pouvez voyager dans 29 destinations. Quelques vols internes sont également disponibles.

Si vous souhaitez voyager avec votre chat ou votre chien en avion à bord des vols TUI Fly, c’est tout à fait possible. Le nombre est limité à 1 animal par voyageur, maximum 3 par vol. Il est fortement recommandé de signaler la présence de votre animal de compagnie au moment de la réservation.

Les chiens et les chats jusqu’à 10 kg (caisse de transport incluse, dont les dimensions totales ne dépassent 115 cm) sont acceptés en cabine, sauf sur les vols long-courriers et pour Le Cap Vert. Les animaux de compagnie de moins de 12 semaines ne sont pas autorisés à voyager sur le réseau Tuifly.

Notez que les chiens et les chats à nez retroussé - dont les Bouledogues américains, anglais et français, les Carlins et les Boston Terriers - sont strictement interdits à bord. Par contre, les chiens guides et d’assistance voyagent gratuitement en cabine. Les chiens de soutien émotionnel voyagent aussi gratuitement mais ne sont acceptés que sur les vols vers et depuis les États-Unis. Ces derniers sont soumis à la même réglementation que les autres animaux de compagnie.

What are the best China tour operators? I get emails from people all the time asking for my recommendations and I’ve finally decided to compile my answer into a regularly-updated article. When it comes to travel, I prefer to support local China travel agencies instead of massive travel companies, and you’ll see this reflected in this list. Enjoy!

When it comes to tour operators, I have a personal motto that I follow when traveling:

Travel globally; tour locally.

What this means is that while I love to visit new places all over the globe, I prefer to give my business to local tour operators instead of massive, state-owned China travel agencies. There are a couple reasons for this.

First, if I’m going to pay for a tour, I want my money to have the greatest impact on the local economy. This isn’t always the case whenever the branch offices of a large travel agency send half their earnings back to the headquarters in another part of the country.

Second, and more importantly, I believe that a local tour operator (both Chinese and foreign) is usually going to provide you with a more authentic experience. They know where the best restaurants are. They can often set up a home visit or a food tour. They do more than just bus you to the next tourist destination.

What I’d like to do here is provide you with a list of recommended China travel agencies that can serve you whether you’re doing a cross-country, multi-city tour or you just want to find a day-trip in whatever city you’ll be visiting.

Everybody I know who has joined a Wendy Wu Tour has thoroughly enjoyed their trip.

Their full-service China tours are broken up into various categories including destination (i.e. Beijing, Shanghai, Xi’an, Chengdu) and tour style (i.e. group, active, tailormade, river cruises, etc.).

Just looking at their available tour packages is a great place to get inspiration for your own itinerary. The only thing worth mentioning here is that strangely they only serve travelers from the United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa, Australia or New Zealand.

What I’ve loved about Windhorse Tours is how easy they make it to choose exactly how you would like to experience China.

Getting to feed and hug a panda is probably one of the most unique China experiences you can have, and Chengdu is the place to do it. There are many Chengdu Panda Bases where you can pay to “volunteer” (it costs ~US$100) and then take a picture with a panda (additional US$150 donation). The volunteer experience is worth the money.

Local Chengdu Tours

Local Chengdu Tours definitely offers day trips to a panda base and even a volunteer program, but they also offer history and culture tours, food tours hiking tours (that they call “Side Trips”) and multi-day city tours that will show you every aspect of the Sichuan culture and history of Chengdu. This city is certainly worth a few days on your itinerary!

Best Southern China Travel Agencies (Yunnan, Guangxi)

The beautiful scenery of Yunnan and Guangxi is unmatched in all of China. More than likely, you’ve seen pictures of these two provinces without realizing it – they are that iconic.

The best part about these locations is that in addition to stunning scenery, they also boast a variety of ethnic groups worth visiting.

Here are a few of the best China tour operators who can show you around southern China.

Explore Beyond (China) – Recommended

How about this: instead of the typical tourist photo of the amazing Guilin River, you jump in a helicopter or a river boat to get a more unique view. Pretty cool, huh!? That’s what Guilin Li River Tours offers.

Best Western China Travel Agencies (Tibet, Xinjiang, Gansu, Qinghai)

It would be a crime to forget about the wilds of western China. Each of the four provinces (Xinjiang, Tibet, Gansu & Qinghai) are unique in their own right and offer memorable experience for those who are willing to take the time.

And that’s the thing: getting out to west China is time-intensive. The area is so large that you’ll be spending quite a bit of time on transportation. It’s worth it, though!

For travel to Xinjiang , you’ll want to use a Uyghur-run travel agency. The Uyghur are the majority people group here and the family that runs Old Road Tours are some of the best in the business.

Gansu / Qinghai

Gansu and Qinghai may not be on the top of your “must-see” list…but it should be. Aside from gorgeous scenery, these places allow you to experience Tibetan culture without going to Tibet.

Finally, I’d like to touch on another growing segment of travel in the country – China food tours .

As recently as just five years ago, very few food tours existed. Now, they’re everywhere. Here are the three companies I recommend you connect with if you find joy in trying local food you had no idea you would love.

Sichuan food is famous all across China and the world, and nobody knows it better than Chengdu Food Tours. They’ll bring you to the restaurants where the locals eat and allow you to try a number of different dishes. Great day tour!

I took their Beijing tour back a few years ago and loved it!! I still can't believe I saw so much of China in just 3 weeks! The hostels were actually really nice, and the experiences were incredible. Guides were all super friendly and had fun recommendations. When meals weren't provided, we'd get a group dinner together which was super fun. At times I was the most exhausted I've ever been, but the guides were super motivated and kept the energy up. I know people who have gone on more expensive tours of China and didn't get to do the cool stuff we did like camping on the great wall of china or training with shaolin warriors.

Unwelcome rebirth of zero-dollar tours

The scourge of zero-dollar tours has returned with even lower prices, targeting inbound tourists from China, Russia and India.

This trend has begun to ravage the tourism industry because of the poor quality of the tours, leaving licensed Thai operators unable to compete, said Sisdivachr Cheewarattanaporn, president of the Association of Thai Travel Agents (Atta).

Mr Sisdivachr said recently more groups of foreigners are operating tour companies in Thailand, using nominees to shield their illegal activities.

He said these illegal operators slash the prices of their tour packages to unreasonable levels based on operational costs, or offer tour packages without any tour fares.

To compensate for the losses, buyers of such packages are forced to purchase additional services or products at exorbitant prices from specific shops purposely set up to milk tourists, said Mr Sisdivachr.

He said these practices were common among the inbound Chinese market in the past, but now illegal operators are targeting Russian and Indian markets using the same tactics.

"This is the worst operating environment I've encountered in my entire life working in the tour business," said Mr Sisdivachr, who discussed the issue with Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin at a meeting at Government House last week.

He said the price dumping strategy is meant to secure an overwhelming market share, eliminating competitors to monopolise the market and arbitrarily increase prices in the future.

This strategy is different from extra-cheap deals known as pro fai mai (burning hot promotion), which is considered an acceptable marketing tool to help tour operators fill up vacant spots at short notice.

Mr Sisdivachr said the zero-dollar tours are damaging the image of Thai tourism, portraying the country as a cheap and unsafe place for tourists as visitors are physically or verbally coerced into purchasing items they don't want.

The strategy will generate less income for the local economy as the illegal operators avoid taxes and do not use local products and services, he said.

Mr Sisdivachr said the government, private sector and Chinese officials should work together to fix this issue within one year.

"The longer this kind of business persists, the worse the Thai tourism industry will become," he said.

Many Thai operators with licences have adapted their business to serve only incentive groups or leisure tourists, rather than looking only for volume, said Mr Sisdivachr.

Arresting one or two illegal tour operators will not be enough, he said.

The relevant authorities should dissolve the whole network, as each operator normally branches out to at least four or five businesses, said Mr Sisdivachr.

He said Atta, as part of the Federation of Thai Tourism Associations, is hoping to meet with Tourism and Sports Minister Sermsak Pongpanit shortly to discuss the matter.

SINGAPORE: With the increase in Malaysia's diesel prices, coach passengers and tour agency customers travelling across the border can expect prices to increase soon.

On Monday (Jun 10), the Malaysian government cut most of its diesel subsidies, which it said was costing the country RM4 billion (US$853 million) annually. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has said the savings will be redirected to lower-income groups.

The retail price of diesel in Peninsular Malaysia has been set at RM3.35 a litre, an increase of more than 50 per cent from the previous subsidised price of RM2.15 for commercial and private vehicles.

PASSING ON COSTS

Singapore Cab Booking, which offers transportation services between the two countries, said its bus services will be hit by the diesel price increase.

"We have the Singapore-KL overland transfer. With the 50 per cent increase in diesel prices, the price is almost equal to Singapore's diesel price," said CEO Farid Khan, adding that the company also has to pay toll charges. 

He has 12 45-seater coaches in his fleet and other smaller buses that also use diesel. He also works with some Malaysian vendors, and they have already requested to increase their prices. 

"With this increase in the price of diesel, when we want to increase our prices to our customers, that's a problem. They will make noise, not happy the price is going up," said Mr Khan.

Many agreements, especially for customers travelling in big groups, were signed and prices fixed months in advance, said Mr Khan, who added that he would make a loss in some cases. 

The overall increase in costs will cut into his profit margins by about 20 to 30 per cent. He is currently in negotiations with his vendors about their higher asking prices. 

He intends to increase his prices by at least 20 per cent over the next few months for new packages or agreements. For example, he currently charges S$550 (US$406) for a one-way coach trip to Legoland in Malaysia. But with higher diesel prices and the newly implemented vehicle entry permit system , he plans to increase this to about S$650. 

"Corporate customers ... they plan their holidays and book way before. Especially school holidays, two to three weeks before they already make their booking because they know last-minute booking is going to be very expensive," he said. 

"So when this thing happened, bam! It's like they dropped a bombshell. Headache." 

Vehicle entry permits will be mandatory for Singapore vehicles entering Malaysia from Oct 1. Vehicles will be fitted with a radio frequency identification tag that costs RM10.  

EU Holidays said its Malaysia tour packages, which make up about 10 per cent of its business, will likely increase in price.

Director Ong Han Jie told CNA the tour agency has  not decided how much the increase will be. The operators they work with in Malaysia also have not confirmed how much their prices will increase. 

"I feel that it's going to come in soon, but maybe not immediately, because we still have confirmed services to be rendered at the moment, so those that have already committed on the pricing will be delivered as per the pricing," said Mr Ong. 

The rise in diesel prices translates to a 40 per cent increase in the cost of running the coaches in their tours, he said. 

"For us, there is an increase in cost, but because the ringgit has depreciated against the Singapore dollar, in Singapore's context, personally I didn't feel that it's a very big problem."

Another tour agency which plans to increase the prices of its Malaysia packages is WTS Travel. 

The company organises coach tours to multiple destinations in Malaysia and also provides charter services. It has its own fleet of coaches but sometimes relies on subcontractors when its vehicles are fully booked. 

Senior business development manager Michael Gan said its subcontractors have already requested to increase their coach chartering prices. 

The company is still working out the amount of increase for its tour packages and coach charter services, he said.

Likewise, Singatour director Philip Gan said he is still waiting for coach charter contractors to confirm how much they will increase their prices.

Tours to Malaysia make up about 50 per cent of his business, with many of them needing coach charter services across the border or within Malaysia. 

Transport, including the cost of diesel, makes up 20 to 30 per cent of Singatour’s operational costs, he added. 

“We’ll look at the margins, if the difference is not much of an increase and if it’s manageable, we probably have to absorb it because the market is so competitive. 

“Let’s say if it increases by a few hundred dollars, then we really can’t take it, then we have to pass it on,” he said, adding that he may pass on a percentage of the increased costs to customers. 

THIN PROFIT MARGINS

Both EU Holidays' Mr Ong and Singapore Cab Booking's Mr Khan do not think that raising tour prices would have much impact on their business, as other companies are similarly affected.

The profit margin for tours and transport to Malaysia is slim. For example, the profit per customer for tours to Malaysia can sometimes be as low as S$3, said Mr Ong. 

"The entire industry will increase (prices). Nobody has that kind of profit ... if the cost is a significant increase, everyone will have to pass it to the consumer." 

Daily Cuts - Malaysia’s targeted diesel subsidies

Peninsular Tour Bus Operators Association president Steven Chong told The Star newspaper in Malaysia that operational costs will increase by up to 30 per cent with the diesel price hike. 

Operators also fear losing customers, who are mainly from overseas tour agencies, as the packages were quoted based on the subsidised diesel rates. 

“With this new rate, it will surely be more expensive, and we are afraid that the agents will not take up our offers,” he said, adding that a memorandum on the matter has been submitted to Malaysia’s Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister.

Malaysia's Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said on Wednesday that the government was aware of tour bus operators' concerns about higher fuel prices, and that it would explore ways to help them following the removal of the subsidies. 

"The government intends to look at a mechanism in which we can assist this particular group because the announcement (of subsidy removal) came at a time when they had made certain arrangements,” he said.

FARMERS AND FRESH FOOD IMPORTS

The higher price of diesel may also hit food importers. A poultry association in Singapore told CNA that Malaysian suppliers have yet to confirm whether they still qualify for diesel subsidies.

If they do not qualify, local poultry businesses may have to raise prices depending on the supply and demand, said Mr Ma Chin Chew, secretary of Singapore's Poultry Merchants' Association and CEO of Hup Heng Poultry Industries. 

The higher costs will impact how competitive the price of Malaysian eggs can be compared to other sources like Ukraine, Turkey or Thailand, he said. 

Malaysia’s second minister for finance Amir Hamzah said that diesel for low-income groups, including fishermen and farmers, as well as for the use of school buses and ambulances, will continue to be subsidised. 

According to local media, about 68,000 farmers, 8,000 breeders and 34,000 small-scale agricultural workers are eligible for the BUDI agri-commodity subsidy scheme. About 300,000 diesel vehicle owners are eligible for the scheme targeted at individuals. 

As of Jun 6, more than 30,000 applications across both categories have been approved.
