Day 1 – Nile Cruise from Hurghada Begins

On the day your 4-night Nile cruise from Hurghada is set to begin, one of our tour representatives will meet you at your hotel at about 07h00. You will then be driven to Luxor in one of our clean and modern air-conditioned vehicles. The journey from Hurghada to Luxor takes roughly 4 hours. Free bottled water will be available to you in the vehicle. If you need to use the rest room or you want to buy some refreshments along the way, just let your driver know.

Your actual Nile Cruise from Hurghada begins short after you arrive in Luxor. You will be driven directly to the port area where you will be boarding your cruise. After boarding and checking in, you will have some free time to settle in. At around 13h00 you will be able to enjoy your first good lunch on the boat.

Shortly after lunch, you will disembark with other members of your tour group, and then you will go visit the two most famous ancient attractions on Luxor’s East Bank, the beautiful Luxor Temple, and the vast Karnak Temple complex which was essentially once an entire city of temples that formed over a period of more than 2,000 years.

After your tour, return to the ship and enjoy some afternoon tea and an authentic Egyptian Belly Dance Show. Dinner will be served in the evening and then you will have the rest of the night to yourself. Enjoy some dancing in the ship’s disco, or simply relax and unwind.

The first night of your Nile cruise from Hurghada will be spent on the water at Luxor.

Day 2 – Luxor West Bank Tour and Cruise to Esna

Begin the second day of your MS Salacia Nile Cruise from Hurghada with a nice breakfast on the water at Luxor, and then you will head to the Luxor West Bank with your small group and your guide to see another 3 wonderful ancient sites, starting with Valley of the Kings.

Valley of the Kings was a royal necropolis where pharaohs and certain influential nobles of the New Kingdom were laid to rest in rock-cut tombs. Some of these consist only of a simple burial chamber, while others a complex maze of chambers and passageways. Like the pyramids, nearly all of the tombs were raided and looted in antiquity, with Tutankhamen’s tomb being one of the only ones which was discovered still sealed, with everything still inside, including his mummy.

Next, you will visit the ancient rock-cut mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, a vast complex that was constructed by the same workers who constructed and decorated the tombs at Valley of the Kings. You will also visit the huge Colossi of Memnon on your way back to your cruise ship.

There are no further tours or excursions today, so once you have had your lunch, you will be free to enjoy the rest of your day as you wish while you sail to Esna. Enjoy afternoon tea at the regular time, and today there will also be a Captain’s Welcome cocktail party shortly before dinner. The ship’s disco will once again be open in the evening, and you will spend this night of your Nile cruise from Hurghada on the water at Esna.

Day 3 – Edfu Temple and Kom Omb Temple Excursions

Enjoy breakfast on board the ship while sailing to Edfu. Shortly after arriving at Edfu, your guide will take you and your group to see Egypt’s best-preserved ancient temple, the Temple of Horus at Edfu. This remarkable temple was discovered after having been buried under the desert sand for more than 2,000 years.

Enjoy lunch back on the boat while sailing to Kom Ombo where you will enjoy another excursion. Have afternoon tea at the usual time, and then you will be taken to see Kom Ombo Temple which was dedicated to two different gods, Sobek and Haeroris.

Enjoy another good dinner on board the ship in the evening. Instead of an on board disco, tonight there will be a thoroughly enjoyable Galabya Party. This night of your Nile cruise from Hurghada will be spent on the water at Kom Ombo.

Day 4 – Cruise to Aswan and Aswan Tour

Enjoy breakfast on board your Nile cruise while sailing to Aswan. On arrival in Aswan, you will have the opportunity to enjoy an optional tour to the famous Abu Simbel Temples. This is an “optional” tour and is therefore not included in the price of our Nile Cruise from Hurghada package.

If you choose not to visit Abu Simbel, then you will have the remainder of the day to yourself to enjoy as you wish. Afternoon tea and dinner will both be served at the usual times. For entertainment tonight, there will be an authentic Nubian Folkloric Show on the ship. Enjoy the last night of your Nile cruise from Hurghada on the water at Aswan.

Day 5 – Disembarkation, Aswan Tour and Transfer to Hurghada

Enjoy a last good breakfast on the ship, and then it will be time for you to check-out and disembark. After you have disembarked, it will be time for your Aswan tour. First you will visit the remarkable Aswan High Dam which gave birth to Lake Nasser after construction of the dam was completed.

Next, you will head to the ancient granite quarries to see the gigantic Unfinished Obelisk. From here you will then be taken to see the ancient Temple of Philae that was dedicated to two goddesses, Hathor and Isis. This amazing temple once stood on a small island which now lies beneath the water of Lake Nasser. The temple was painstakingly moved in entirety to its current location on higher ground.

After you have finished exploring the temple, you will begin making your way back to Hurghada. The journey from Aswan to Hurghada takes roughly 7 hours. As usual, free bottled water will be available in the vehicle, and your driver will be happy to stop along the way if you need to.

When you arrive in Hurghada, you will be driven directly to your hotel, and then your Nile Cruise from Hurghada will officially be over

Located on the east bank of the Nile, Karnak Temple Complex consists of a number of temples. Its name was given as in Arabic Karnak means fortified village.

Luxor Temple

Where is Luxor Temple located?  This temple might be the greatest testament to why Luxor has earned its nickname, “The World’s Largest Outdoor Museum”.

Valley of the Kings

Situated on the ancient site of Thebes, the Valley of the Kings is the ancient burial ground of many of Egypt's New Kingdom rulers, most famed collection tombs.

Hatshepsut Temple

Hatshepsut temple is a reflection of the mortuary temple of Mentuhotep II and was constructed alongside that 11th dynasty structure.

Edfu Temple

The Temple of Horus at Edfu is widely considered to be the most impressive of all of the Nile-side temples along the journey between Luxor and Aswan. It is a required stop by all of the cruise ships that make the trip, also stopping at Esna and Kom Ombo

Kom Ombo is located approx. 40 Km north from Aswan. The temple of Kom Ombo was built on the honor of two deities the crocodile-headed Sobek, and Haroeris.

Philae Temple

Philae Temple one of the most picturesque in all of Egypt. It sits on Aglika Island just south of the old Aswan Dam and you must ride a water taxi to the island to get to the ruins.

Unfinished Obelisk

Most probably this obelisk belongs to Queen Hatshepsut, one of the rulers of the 18th dynasty and the royal wife of king Tuthmosis II. The unfinished obelisk is considered the largest piece of stone ever handled.

Aswan High Dam

he High Dam was built 1960, and it was the most heralded part of President Gamal Abdel Nasser’s effort to develop Egypt for all Egyptians.

Day 1: Private Transfer from Hurghada to Luxor & Visit Karnak and Luxor Temples - Nile Cruise ON

Our representative will pick you up from the hotel in Hurghada, Red Sea. Transfer to Luxor to board your Nile cruise around 4 hours driving. Transfer to embark Nile Cruise before lunch.

Afternoon, you will discover the East bank of Luxor including Karnak Temples Complex, which are the largest structures ever build in the history of the mankind. The principal building is that of god Amun Ra, since it was considered the house of god on the earth, the earlier structure date back to the middle kingdom, but there are some references which refer to the earlier buildings as old as the 3rd dynasty.

Later on, you will proceed to visit Temple of Luxor, which was built by one of the kings of the 12th dynasty and completed by the well know king Ramses II. This temple was located in the heart of ancient Thebes and, like Karnak, was dedicated to the main/chief god Amun Re. After finishing your day tour, you will be transferred back to your ship for rest and refresh. At night, Egyptian folkloric show will be operated by the staff. Dinner will be served and overnight in Luxor. (Lunch – Dinner)

Day 2: Valley of the Kings, Hatshipsut Temple & Sail to Edfu via Essna

Breakfast on the Nile cruise. After that you will Start your magical tour in Thebes, the sacred land by exploring the wet bank of Luxor including Valley of the Kings, which considers as the royal cemetery of the Theban kings and rulers of ancient Egypt, and the place where our Pharaohs were buried,

Then proceed to visit Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir El Bahari. This temple is considered as one of the most wonderful examples of the Architecture in ancient Egypt, because it was totally carved inside the mountain. At the end of the tour you will visit Colossi of Memnon, which is belonging to king Amenhotep III.

After that you will return to your ship to have your lunch during sailing to Essna city and cross the lock (just like Panama Canal locks). Free at leisure. Dinner and overnight on the cruise. (Breakfast – Lunch – Dinner)

Day 3: Edfu Temple - Sail to Kom Oumbo - Visit the temple - Sail to Aswan

Breakfast on the cruise. Then the guide will take you in a mysterious journey to land of secrets. This guided tour of today begins by visiting one of the most wonderful temples in Egypt, Temple of Horus in Edfu, which is considered to be one of the most well preserved temples in Egypt.

After that, you will revert back to your ship. Lunch will be served on board during sailing to the city of Kom Ombo.

Afternoon, you will proceed to explore Temple of Kom Ombo, where the two gods Sobek & Haroeris were worshipped for a while. Get back to your ship and enjoy your lunch on the sun deck, watching the unique landscape of the great river Nile. On its banks the ancient Egyptian civilization has been created and flourished.

After the tour, you will get back to your ship, rest and refresh on board. Dinner meal will be served on board during sailing to the city of Aswan. Late evening arrive to Aswan and overnight. (Breakfast – Lunch – Dinner). 

Day 4: Philae Temple - High Dam - Unfinished Obelisk

Breakfast will be served on board your ship. Later on, you will join your Egyptologist tour guide to discover the great city of Aswan, including The High Dam, which has been erected by the Egyptian president Gamal Abdel Nasser in 1960 AD to protect Egypt from the Nile flood.

After that you will enjoy sailing on the Nile River by a motor boat till reach Agilika Island, where you will visit Temple of Philae, which was erected during the Gaeco-Roman period and was dedicated to goddess Isis (mother of god Horus).

Finally you will be escorted to visit one of the marvelous sightseeing in Aswan, The Unfinished Obelisk, which was made out of red granite and was dedicated to god Amun Ra.

After finishing your day tour, you will get back to your ship. Lunch will be served on board. Afternoon tea will be served on board. At night free at leisure. Dinner and overnight in Aswan. (Breakfast – Lunch – Dinner).

Day 5: Disembarkation from Nile Cruise - Private Transfer from Aswan to Hurghada

Breakfast on board your Nile cruise and check out. Then our representative will escort you for 8 hours driving back to your hotel in Hurghada. (Breakfast)

Optional Excursion to Abu Simbel Temple : Breakfast box from your Nile cruise and check out . Later on, you will be transferred by private A-C van to Abu Simbel. The original site was known as Meha in the ancient times and was first documented in the 18th Dynasty, when Ay and Horemheb had rock-cut chapels hewn in the hills to the south. Upon arrival, you will proceed to visit Abu Simbel Temples, which were built by king Ramses II. The first temple (the biggest one) was built by Ramesses II and being dedicated to the famous god Rahorakhty. While the second temple (the smaller one) was dedicated to king himself and his beautiful wife queen . 

Then our representative will escort you for 8 hours driving back to your hotel in Hurghada. (Breakfast).

It was good. In the beginning, we had some issues with the lack of communication in El Cairo. We chose the sleeping train option from El Cairo to Luxor (included in the tour) but we spent 3-4 hours sitting in the train station when we could have done anything else. Also, we didn't know that the train didn't have showers and we were supposed to start the tour day in Luxor as soon as we arrived.... so if you are choosing the sleeping train option consider this, also that you share the bathroom with the people in the same wagon. Once we arrived on the cruise, everything went smoothly. The tour guide always took care of us, gave us tips, and explained everything well. The cruise was overall good, they gave you what you paid for. I do recommend the tour!

This trip was AMAZING!! It exceeded my expectations and was everything I could have asked for. What truly made it special was our guide, Ray! He was so knowledgeable and answered any questions we had. If we needed to get in contact with him, he was always reachable. The overall organization of the trip was very good. I liked how we started in Cairo, traveled down to Aswan and then made our way slowly back to Cairo. It was a lot of traveling and the first few days were a lot but it was totally worth it! My favorite part of the trip was The Valley of the Kings. We were there for a little over 2 hours and I feel like I could have been there for days. It was just so beautiful! I can confidentially say I saw the Best of Egypt! Overall I would recommend this tour & trip to anyone! The Intrepid tour and our guide was excellent! However, I booked my tour through TourRadar, and TourRadar was a disaster from beginning to end, with very slow responses to any questions. I received my voucher only one week before departure, and they did not pass over the information to Intrepid about my late arrival on the opening day. Originally, I was booked via TourRadar on a different tour with a different company, but this was cancelled by TourRadar only 6 weeks before departure and long after confirmation was given and I had booked my flight tickets. So it was pure luck that Intrepid had a tour on the same dates.

This tour was absolutely fantastic. Everything we saw was amazing, everything we did was amazing and Mariam was a fantastic guide.

One of the good journeys I've taken, it exposed us to a language and culture quite distinct from Western norms. We also witnessed remarkable ancient sites, including Karnak Temple and Abu Simbel, and enjoyed thrilling activities like a hot air balloon ride and snorkeling in the Red Sea.

At the beginning I was a bit relentless to go, due to the desert climate, but since this trip was a gift for my girlfriend for her birth decided to do it. The guide, Ahmed, brought us around the black and withe desert giving us lessons about the history and the Bedouin colture. Everything was accompanied by the wonderful view of the desert and the oasis of Bahariya. Also we went with another guide, Ahmed brother who also made our trip more fun. Another thing that I want to say is, go with the Musicians of the Desert (Ahmed and his brother), if you go with them you will have the wonderful experience of listening some Bedouin music sang by them (that’s why that name). Customer service is very flexible to customize the trip for us, the tour guides are friendly and knowledgeable, drivers are also very professional! (Not all drivers in Egypt can drive properly so having a professional one is really important) One tip for people considering going, the “five star hotel” is Egypt standard is usually equivalent to the three/four star standard in other places so if you want a relatively comfortable stay you should choose the five star ones instead of the four star ones. Another minor thing I would comment is that despite our tour guides in Cairo and Aswan were both great, the guide in Luxor is a bit disappointing. He didn’t provide much info on important attractions, and he continuously tried to sell us extra stuff not included in the trip when we knew the stuff he recommended was not worth going at all. Booking made with Nada from Marsa Alam Tours. Contact and info from Nada was good. After the tour we left something in the car and two days later she arranged our goods back in our hotel! Our driver was Eslam and guide in Caïro/Gizeh was Mohamed. Mohamed has very good knowledge about Egyptian history. Eslam is an experienced Egyptian driver. Construction began around 690 BC, and it was one of the last outposts where the goddess was worshipped. The High dam: Aswan High Dam is a rock-fill dam located at the northern border between Egypt and Sudan. The dam is fed by the River Nile and the reservoir forms Lake Nasser. Construction for the project began in 1960 and was completed in 1968. It was officially inaugurated in 1971. The Unfinished Obelisk Aswan was the source of ancient Egypt’s finest granite, used to make statues and embellish temples, pyramids, and obelisks. The large unfinished obelisk in the Northern Quarries has provided valuable insight into how these monuments were created, although the full construction process is still not entirely clear. Three sides of the shaft, nearly 42m long, were completed except for the inscriptions. Day 1-3: Arrival at the Red Sea

A typical itinerary sees you fly direct to Hurghada or Makadi Bay on Friday for the first 3 nights at your chosen hotel (or Marsa Alam on Wednesday for the first 5 nights). The cruise starts on Monday, so you can relax and enjoy the Red Sea until the itinerary commences.

Day 4: Arriving in Luxor

Luxor, is the site of the ancient Egyptian capital, Thebes, and home to many of the most renowned monuments, tombs and temples. It is the starting point for your Nile cruise. On arrival at Luxor you will check in to your chosen cruise ship.

Day 5: Luxor and East Thebes

After breakfast visit the East bank of Thebes and the Temples of Luxor and Karnak. At the vast open air museum of Karnak, marvel at the Great Hypostyle Hall with its 134 columns. Enjoy lunch and dinner on board, and overnight in Luxor.

Day 6: Luxor and Western Thebes

Travel to the West Bank, Thebes and the Valley of the Kings, final resting place of the Pharaohs; there is an optional visit to Tutankhamun’s tomb*. Other highlights include the imposing Temple of Hatshepsut, the gigantic Colossi of Memnon, and Medinet Habu temple. In the afternoon, sail to Esna. Dinner is on board and you overnight at Esna.

Day 7: Kom Ombo to Aswan

The cruise continues via the impressive sight of Kom Ombo standing sentinel at a bend in the river. Visit this unusual double temple, built in 250BC to honour the crocodile-headed Sobek and the falcon-headed Horus, before sailing on to Aswan.

Day 8: Agilika & the Temples of Philae

Visit the unfinished obelisk first thing, then take a motor boat from Aswan to the island of Agilika and the Temples of Philae, devoted to Isis, and visit the famous Aswan High Dam Enjoy an optional day trip to Aswan Nubian Village national park*

Day 9: Aswan

A free day to explore Aswan and its lively Souk, enjoy the optional early morning excursion to Abu Simbel*, or to simply relax on board. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat ride along the Nile, before embarking and sailing to Kom Ombo. Overnight at Kom Ombo.

Day 10: Sail to Luxor

On arrival in Cairo you will be met by our local representative before transferring to your hotel. (For late night/early morning arrivals hotel rooms will be ready for check in on arrival)

Pyramids of Giza and the Egyptian Museum

The pyramids of giza.

Following a leisurely breakfast depart your hotel for an excursion to the Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx. The three pyramids and the sphinx, a mythical statue with the body of a lion and the face of a man, are considered as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

Grand Egyptian Museum

Following lunch at a local restaurant we will enjoy an excursion to the Grand Egyptian Museum. This museum is home to an extensive collection of Egyptian antiquities ranging from the pre-historic era to the Greco Roman period and includes the magnificent Tutankhamen Collection. 

Please note - A visit to the Egyptian Museum in Cairo will be included today until the new Grand Egyptian Museum at Giza opens. The Grand Egyptian Museum is scheduled to open in 2024. 

Cairo and El Khalili Bazaar

After breakfast check out and depart your hotel for a panoramic city tour of Cairo before arriving at the Khan el Khalili Bazaar, one of the most popular oriental markets. Its shops display a wonderful collection of brassware, rich textiles and other attractive oriental products.

Fly to Luxor

Transfer to Cairo Airport for your flight to Luxor. On arrival transfer to the pier for embarkation of your 7 night Nile Cruise.

Luxor to Edfu

After breakfast you will visit the Necroplis of Thebes located on the West Bank of the Nile. This UNESCO World Heritage site contains many funerary temples erected by kings and nobility to perform religious rituals for the spirits of the dead. Your visit this morning will include the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon.

Sail to Edfu

Lunch will be served on board your ship before sailing onwards to Edfu via Esna Lock.

Edfu to Aswan

This morning join us on a short coach transfer for a visit to the Ptolemaic Temple of Edfu, dedicated to Horus the falcon-headed God and built between 237 and 57 BC. 

Temple of Kom Ombo

After lunch on board visit the Temple of Kom Ombo which is dedicated to the two Gods, Sobek (The Crocodile God) and Haroeris , famous for its twin entrance halls and sanctuaries.

High Dam & Philae Temple

After breakfast on board enjoy a visit to the High Dam and Philae Temple. Dedicated to the Goddess Isis the Philae Temple was dismantled and reassembled on Agilika Island (about 550m from this original home on Philae Island) after the High Dam caused rivers to rise close to the historic site

Nubian Village Visit

Viking Moscow to St. Petersburg: Safety??

We are looking at doing the Viking Moscow to St. Petersburg river cruise in 2020. When I checked the US State Dept. They classify Russia as a “Consider another location” due to increased terrorism against American Tourists. I would love to hear peoples thoughts as I have never been to Russia and this cruise looks like fun?

I can't answer your question specifically. I have done a similar cruise (another line) and I have done a land trip there. If I was to advise people, I would tell people to find a land company and just do St. Petersburg and Moscow. Stay downtown and not clear out where the river boats stay. I was bored with the ports between and wish I had spent more time in Moscow on the river boat (like I did when I was on the land trip.

Again, not the answer to the question you were asking. I personally would have no hesitations going back.

My sister-in-law just did the Viking trip, St, Pete to Moscow, with no problem at all. She reacted as I did -- greatly enjoyed the longer day time sailing of this itinerary, which she found relaxing and peaceful, and the ports quite interesting. (I was on another line, too, a few years ago). I've seen the State Dept. warning but think the cruise lines put a premium on the safety of their PAX and would withdraw their tours if safety was a concern, such as when river cruises on the Nile were shut down. We did a cruise there after they were reinstated and were a bit apprehensive, but we felt safe with the security provided there and had a great time as well.

We did this trip five years ago. We found St. Petersburg and Moscow extremely interesting, but we really enjoyed the ports during the cruising part of the trip. We loved sailing through the countryside and seeing the smaller towns. President Obama was actually in St. Petersburg for a summit the same time we were there, so Americans were treated fine. However, this was all only a few months before the Sochi winter olympics and Putin was on his best behavior. We all know what happened immediately following the olympics. But then we went to Egypt this past January and we're going to Cuba this coming winter, so we're not easily put off by state department warnings.

That area is generally safe. That said, there is no love lost between Russians and Americans. Most of your everyday people will be fine. You will stand out as an American, good/bad/indifferent. Most of the terrorism problems in Russia are further south than Moscow

I don't find it to be the case.... While the governments do indeed have a hard time finding any kind of common ground to start talking, this has not - in my experience - translated into any kind of problems on a person-to-person level.

If anything, I'd encourage the OP to extend their stay on both ends of the trip, via Viking extension or otherwise and explore both cities on their own.

There aren't too many reviews of Vikings Russian River tours here on CC, but to get a general understanding of overall safety and other issues you might also want to check reviews of other cruise companies (AMA, Scenic, Uniworld, Vodohod) and aggregators (Gate 1 cruises, etc) offering the same route - the itineraries are virtually identical.

As far as State Dept warnings go - they have unfortunately become a political tool rather than a useful resourse for travelers.

Very true, but past reviews should still be available - and could be helpful in overall assessment of things to expect on that route. Like I said, the itineraries are virtually the same (coincidentally, stern State Dept warnings haven't changed much over the years, either).

Would love to go to Moscow....and so I've looked at the "Waterways of the Tsars" Viking cruise quite often. When we arrived in SPB, that morning you could just feel the tension onboard the ship. Everyone just seemed keyed up and slightly nervous. NOT the usual feeling like in the Windjammer down in the Caribbean! Anyway, one of the days we went through border patrol they left my wife go right through, but I was questioned rather sternly and at length about why I'm arriving so early before my tour excursion started and what I intended to do. It was a bit uncomfortable. After a bit of jabbering in Russian among the border patrol agents, they finally let me through. Telling them that I was going to go shopping with the extra time before the excursion started seemed to win some points :)

This is because they never really tried. Ours had 2 AMA employees - the rest were Vodohod employees. It was a Vodohod cruise.

Relax & ignore uptight fellow passengers.

Viking Ocean Day One at St Pete we go to the border officer. Stares & glowers at us for something like 2-3 minutes. Then stamps our passports forcefully and bruskly waves us thru.

Day 2 at St Pete. We arrive and are promptly waived thru right away. But no smile.

Two very elderly folks on our same tour were held up at least 15 minutes as we all waited for them. Talked to them and they were both ex-military and had worked at the Pentagon. They surmised that the Rooskies knew this and had some concerns. They were laughing and thought the entire experience was a hoot. Day 2, no problems.

Yeah...we had no problems the next day we went through.

My sister and BIL just returned from the Viking trip from St. Pete. to Moscow. They said the onboard experience wasn't as good as on the European Longships but they thoroughly enjoyed the trip. They too reported the local people they met were a very warm and friendly.

We arrive and are promptly waived thru right away. But no smile.

Just out of pure curiosity (plus in the interest of identifying cultural differences) - why do you think a smile would be in order?

From my point of view: tourism is an economic plus for any country, so officials involved should be customer-focused.

There is a four seat compartment at the very front of the train, excellent service, and great views.

Indeed, wouldn't we all prefer the cheerful young babushkas!

In fact, having spent a bit of time in SPB over the summer, I have a new appreciation for the scowling old type - the only time I've seen them spring back to life, in a soccer-goalie pounce, was to stop a fellow tourist from touching the private parts of a marble statue or leaning against the tapestry-adorned wall in the Hermitage :-)

When I was a Russian History major in the late '60s there was a wonderful story from the days of Stalin about an old Babushka who used to take the subway to Red Square every morning, trudge painfully across the square to the wall of the Kremlin where the front page of Pravda was posted in a glass case, look briefly at the paper and sigh, and then trudge back to the subway. One day the guard asked, "Grandma, why don't you just buy the paper? It only costs a penny." She said, "I don't want to read all of it. I'm just looking for an obituary." The guard said, "But the obituaries aren't printed on the front page!" She answered, " This one will be."
