Eurolines has launched a new direct coach service between Blackpool and Belfast

Blackpool summer holidays is hard to beat with the sandy beaches, amusements and live entertainment. Blackpool still attracts more visitors than any other English resort. This is why Eurolines has launched a direct coach link to Blackpool for the inhabitants from Belfast and Northern Ireland.

The Journey

On this route Eurolines Plus coaches are used, which offer passengers DVDs and extra legroom. One other advantage of travelling by coach is the luggage allowance; each passenger is allowed two medium sized suitcases, a much greater free allowance than is offered by budget airlines. Passengers must check in at least 30 minutes before the coach is due to depart. You will need to show your passport or travel documentation before being issued with a boarding card. If you are travelling with luggage, make sure it is labelled as it will be stored under the coach. This route involves a sea crossing. When you get to the port terminal, you will have to get off the coach and go through border control.

A little bit about the Belfast - Santander ferry crossing by Stena. The ferry crossing is served by Stena ferries; HSS Voyager and Stena Caledonia. The trip with the HSS Voyager takes only 1 hour and 45 minutes! It is the fastest ferry connection between Scotland and Belfast. Coach ticket covers the cost of ferry crossing.

Eurolines leaves the Europa Buscentre in Belfast at 10:30am, to catch the afternoon ferry Stena to Stranraer and drive south to Blackpool. The coach arrives Blackpool Coach Sation at 06:30pm (Thursday to Sunday only) Eurolines leaves Blackpool at 10:00am arriving back in Belfast around 6:20pm (Friday to Monday only)

• e-ticket: a ticket you must print yourself at home,
• by collection: in one of the National Express office,
• by post: allow 7 working days.

Note: In some cases e-tickets may be not available for the journey, this happens when the connections are made with companies other than National Express. You can still buy a ticket online, but it will be delivered by post or it will be ready to collect in the offices of National Express.

From Belfast to Killarney - Kerry Highlights Tour

If you are thinking of a holiday away this year and would like to experience fabulous sights and hospitality then choose a Killarney and Wild Atlantic Way Tour . Select 4 or 5 day tours across a choice of dates with departures from central Belfast* . Stay at the famous Gleneagle Hotel and enjoy great food, entertainment and a host of leisure options.

This tour includes luxury coach transfers from Belfast with our partner Travel Ireland Coaches. With rest stops en-route guests can enjoy the trip south with an experienced driver- guide. A selection of day tours are included such as the Ring of Kerry with its quaint fishing villages and stunning coastal scenery. Also a trip to Dingle and Slea Head where guests can view on to the Blasket Islands and take in the sights and sounds of Dingle town. shuttle bus service to Killarney town centre.

Your Itinerary (January to mid-November)

Arrive at the Gleneagle Hotel for early evening. Welcome drink on arrival followed by time at your own leisure. Dinner is served in the restaurant followed by live entertainment for guests.

Breakfast and then depart for a day tour to the famous town of Dingle . Later on, journey out to Slea Head and Coumeenoule Beach and through Dunquin and Ballyferriter with views onto the Blasket Islands. Return to the hotel for dinner, entertainment and overnight.

A free day to explore Killarney – enjoy a walk around the town or visit the National Park. Guests can also enjoy some free time at the hotel. Discover Muckross House and Estate and maybe a visit to the 15th century Ross Castle on the Lake shore. Dinner is in the restaurant and live entertainment afterwards.

A full day Ring of Kerry Tour to explore the Wild Atlantic Way and the dramatic seascapes that unfold as you journey. View on to Skellig Islands, an UNESCO Heritage Site and visit some of the quaint seaside towns. There is plenty of time for photos, shopping and lunch along the way.

Day 5 / Day 6

Departure day for 4-night tours .

For guests on a 5-night tour take time for a final visit to Killarney town or stroll over to the National Park, perhaps some souvenir shopping. Return to the hotel for dinner, entertainment and overnight. Depart for Belfast the following morning after breakfast.

Mount Stewart

Mount Stewart is one of the most inspiring and unusual gardens in the National Trust’s ownership. Engaging tours of the opulent house reveal its fascinating heritage and historic world-famous artefacts and artwork. Discover a rich landscape of farmland, woodland, monuments and buildings, and a breathtaking hidden glen as you explore the historic demesne.

Echlinville Distillery

Since 2013 Echlinville has established itself in the whiskey industry winning gold at the World Whiskey Awards and the Irish Whiskey Awards. In 2016, Echlinville went into gin production, making the popular Jawbox brand, followed by Echlinville Gin. Situated amongst the sweeping drumlins of the rugged Ards Peninsula in County Down, overlooking morose seascapes, The Echlinville Distillery’s surroundings are as uncompromising as their approach to making whiskey.

Scrabo Tower

Scrabo Tower is located to the west of Newtownards in County Down, Northern Ireland. Scrabo Country Park is centred at the top of Scrabo Hill near Newtownards. Overlooking Strangford Lough and the whole of North Down, Scrabo Tower was built in 1857 and is one of Northern Ireland’s best known landmarks. Inside the Tower you can see an exhibition and short video detailing its history and that of the area, as well as plenty of walking paths through the fine beech woodlands and around the disused quarries

History and Heritage

Ulster Folk Museum

Step back in time and experience what life was like in Ulster over 100 years ago. Wander through a beautiful rolling countryside and a bustling town filled with authentic, period buildings, where you will encounter costumed locals demonstrating traditional crafts in cottages, farm dwellings, schools and shops. Every day a wide variety of folk activities and demonstrations take place, from basket weaving and blacksmithing to crocheting and needlework.

North Down Musuem

Ards and North Down is steeped in history. Visit North Down Museum where you can travel from the Bronze Age to the present day through a series of exhibitions and display areas. Learn about life as it was in the 5 th century when the Vikings first settled around Strangford Lough, and follow in the footsteps of saints and scholars.

The village derives its name from the Grey Abbey, a Cistercian foundation dating from 1193, in the grounds of an 18 th century mansion. The village is full of antique shops, as well as some interesting Georgian and Victorian buildings and a traditional coaching inn. The Grey Abby itself is important as the first Gothic style building in Ulster, founded by the wife of John De Courcy in thanksgiving for a safe landing after a difficult sea journey. Learn the long history of the abbey, through invasion, dissolution and military operations through the 16 th and 17 th century.

Castle Espie

Get up close to Ireland’s largest collection of native and exotic birds, ducks and geese from around the world or simply explore the woodland and shore-view walks, and dedicated bird hides all while enjoying spectacular views across Strangford Lough.

Ark Open Farm

See lots of cute and cuddly rabbits, chicks, guinea pigs, pet lambs, kid goats and ponies to ride. You can get up close and have lots of interaction, supervised by friendly and helpful staff. The Ark Farm is unique, being the only one of its kind specialising in animals no longer seen in Northern Ireland’s fields.

Exploris Aquarium

Located in Portaferry, your journey will begin with a focus on the lough and Irish Sea before venturing into a tropical paradise. Visit the Seal Sanctuary in the recently expanded outdoor area which is also home to their Asian Short Clawed Otters, Humboldt Penguins, Hector the Capybara.

Strangford Lough Activity Centre is a quirky, experiential adventure centre which offers a range of outdoor activities throughout Northern Ireland including archery, canoeing, kayaking, orienteering and wet bouldering!

Bangor Aurora Aquatic and Leisure Complex has a wide range of facilities offering an excellent choice of sporting and leisure activities. Enjoy three swimming pools with flume slides, health suite, sports hall, squash courts and children’s adventure play area.
