KKday Review [2024]: Are The Tours & Experiences Legit?

KKday Review [2024]: Are The Tours & Experiences Legit?

KKday is an intriguing booking platform for travelers, but is it one of the top options for you? Allow me to end your curiosity! I'll explore this unique company in as much detail as possible so you'll know if it’s right for you.

travel contents kkday

It's no secret that there are many travel booking platforms out there. Trusted services such as  Klook  or Agoda tend to be the most used, and it can sometimes be challenging to try a company that isn’t as well known or new in the market.

With so many of these competitive companies in the travel industry, standing out is key. One of the competitive advantages is usually the platforms that offer something unique, which tend to be attractive.

One of the main and favorable aspects of a travel booking company for most people is usually the price. There isn’t a bigger turnoff than booking a hotel and then realizing you could have gotten the same one for a discount somewhere else.

That's why price and multiple other factors have to be considered when discussing travel booking platforms like KKday in particular. So, let's get into it with a detailed review of KKday and how it compares to the other top dogs in the travel space.

What Is KKday?

KKday  is an online travel platform where travelers can search and book travel experiences and activities in various destinations around the world.

This large company offers a whopping 300,000 tours in over 90 countries! It was founded in 2014 by CEO Chen Ming in Taiwan and has since expanded to offer over 20,000 experiences in more than 80 countries, including popular destinations such as Japan, Thailand, South Korea, and Taiwan.

You can book practically any kind of travel experience on KKday, with its most popular option being local tours.

By booking a local tour, you can fully experience countries such as Spain or the Philippines with a tour guide providing a more authentic experience.

KKday offers a wide range of travel experiences, including outdoor activities, cultural experiences, food tours, and more. They also allow users to book through its website or mobile app.

The platform is designed for those travelers that want to experience off-the-beaten tracks.

How To Book With KKday

The booking process for KKday is straightforward, and it doesn’t take long to find what you are looking for. The platform offers a variety of different categories to tickle your fancy, such as food, sightseeing, outdoor activities, and more.

Once you've chosen your activity or experience, you'll be asked to provide some basic information such as your travel dates, the number of travelers, and your preferred language.

KKday also provides detailed descriptions of each activity, including photos and reviews from other travelers.

Where Does It Operate?

Although KKday originally started in Taiwan, it has now branched out and operates in 90 different countries, which is a lot, to say the least.

It's an online platform for booking travel experiences and activities. It operates in various countries and regions around the world, including:

  • Asia:  Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Macau, Mainland China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka
  • Oceania:  Australia and New Zealand
  • Europe: France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and the United Kingdom
  • North America:  United States and Canada
  • South America : Brazil, Argentina, and Chile

Cancellation Policy

It's inevitable that people will need to cancel for unforeseen circumstances. KKday's cancellation policy is applicable in some of these situations, such as:

  • The passing of a second-degree relative
  • Terminal illness of a second-degree relative
  • Significant natural disaster in a destination that prevents the tour from departing
  • Flight cancellations or delays

But for customers to be eligible for a refund, they have to provide some sort of evidence that supports why they are cancelling.

Note: KKday can only process the full refund when valid or supporting proof like a death certificate or medical certificate has been provided.

Reasons To Use KKday for Booking Trips

KKday has some beneficial aspects that are worth mentioning:

Range of Available Experiences

KKday has a huge amount of experiences that you can choose from on the website. This isn't only a big benefit, but it separates them from the crowd, giving travelers more options.

This proves that KKday is not only well-established because of the range of activities to choose from, but it means that they're better than the more established travel websites when it comes to certain choices.

  • Affordable Prices

Another interesting aspect about KKday which is worth mentioning are their prices. They have a wide range of promotions on offer, and their prices are better than most travel agencies.

As a traveler myself, I have to say that this is a massive deal and is possibly a dealbreaker for me. I'm always on the lookout for the most affordable websites to book my travels with, and KKday seems to meet those needs.

Redeemable Points

On KKday, you can win points by accomplishing certain tasks on the platform. You earn 1 KKday point for every dollar you spend. Every 50 points equals to a $0.25 USD discount.

The points can be redeemed on coupons or rewards for popular experiences and itineraries. To use the KKday points though, the booking total must be 1 USD or more.

Complaints About KKday

Though some of KKday reviews have been impressive, there are some common criticisms that it receives.

Limited Choice of Countries

Although KKday does offer activities in a large number of countries around the world, it's nowhere near the same number as more popular travel websites.

This is a big issue, to say the least, and I honestly think if KKday expanded the choices it offers, it would be a much more efficient platform.

Not only do bigger travel platforms such as  Booking.com  and  Airbnb  offer more trip choices, but the fact they simply operate in more countries makes a ton of difference. If KKday wants to be a favored platform and keep loyal customers, it does need to expand the countries in which it operates.

Communication and Language Barriers

One of the most frequent negative reviews online are the communication and language barriers.

Although most travelers don’t have a problem with booking on KKday, it's clear that booking activities in less popular countries can prove to be a problem for people as KKday languages aren't extensive.

Unresponsive Customer Support

KKday has a  FAQs  page for any inquiries, as well as a phone call option available on the app. You can also email them at  [email protected]

Though these portals are available, quite a number of people have complained that the customer support is poor, often leaving customers to sort out any potential issues that may arise from booking on their platform.

Group of girls and boys with backpacks laughing in a mountain region

Is KKday Worth It?

After doing all the research, I think it should only be used if it's the best option. By this I mean if it has the best pricing or it's the only option offering something. But it wouldn't be my first choice if possible!

Although KKday has clear cons that need to be improved, it isn’t the worst travel booking company in the bunch. So at least you don't need to feel downright scared when booking with this site.

Plus, the fact that you can book activities so easily with a wider range compared to most other travel websites can’t be ignored.

But a lot of KKday reviews from customers online claim KKday partners with untrustworthy vendors, making them seem unreliable. Most complained of slow and sometimes unresponsive customer support, while some mentioned that KKday refused to issue a refund if there was any problem with the booking process.

Just like any other service, everyone's experience will be different, so the ultimate way of knowing will be to try it out for yourself.

My Rating: 3.1/5

  • Range of experiences
  • Limited choice of countries
  • Communication and language barriers
  • Poor customer support

Taiwan travel transportation between airport to Taipei city

After reviewed other travelers’ good experience using airport MRT to Taipei city, my husband and myself purchased KKday’s round trip MRT vouchers as way of transportation from Taoyuan airport to Taipei city. It’s inexpensive, fast and convenient. We arrived Taipei main station then switched city MRT, pretty easy to figure out our way around, if you have any doubt there are information office for inquiries. Our only complaint is our fly arrived to the airport at 4:55 AM, KKday’s ticket office don’t open until 7 AM. We have to wait around for quite sometime, it will be more convenient if they can provide off time voucher exchange place 24-7.

Great customer service

I needed a quick pcr test and found no luck trying to find one. I googled and found KKday. I scheduled my test. When I didn’t receive the voucher I contacted customer service who sent it and then contacted the clinic to find a special time to go. They continued to follow up throughout the day. Well worth the anxiety reduction to use this service.

Developer Response ,

Thank you for choosing KKday! We really value your feedback and will keep improving ourselves:)

Bohol day trip tour

John the driver very punctual and very knowledgeable about the tour. Private car just me and my husband. Reasonable price. Chocolate hills has 214 steps to reach the breathable view. Loboc river lunch cruise , foods are good but you have to pay extra for drinks ( mango, coconut, watermelon shakes) except water. Overall , me and my husband enjoyed the trip.
Thank you for choosing KKday! We really value your feedback and will keep improving ourselves😊 Best Wishes, KKday Customer Service Team

Travel activities platform KKday raises $75 million Series C as it focuses on ‘staycations’

travel contents kkday

With lockdowns around the world, the COVID-19 pandemic has hit the travel industry especially hard. In Asia, however, several startups are adapting by focusing on domestic activities (or “staycations”) instead of international travel. They include Taipei-based KKday , which announced today it has closed a $75 million Series C led by Cool Japan Fund and the National Development Fund of Taiwan. Existing investors Monk’s Hill Ventures and MindWorks Capital also returned for the round.

Founded in 2014, KKday will use its new funding on Rezio , a booking management platform it began piloting in March, starting with Japan and Taiwan.

Created for tour operators and activity providers, especially those who previously operated mostly offline, Rezio can help reduce operational costs by allowing its users to set up a booking website that works with different payment gateways and manage availability by tracking bookings from different channels. The latter is especially important during the pandemic because many venues have set up capacity limits.

The company says that Rezio has served more than 150,000 customers so far, and will be launched in more Asian markets with its Series C funding. KKday currently has more than five million users on its platform, and has hosted more than 30,000 tours and other activities in 92 countries.

In May 2020, the company began seeing more demand for local travel in Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong. This parallels Klook, which also saw an increase in demand for “staycation” bookings  that helped it recover after its business was hurt during the early stages of the pandemic in Asia.

In a statement, Cool Japan Fund managing director Kazushi Sano said his firm invested in KKday because “we believe that KKday’s strong execution and innovative mindset will drive the tourism industry in Japan even under adverse conditions.”

Horrible company, deceptive tactics

Horrible company who hides behind their ‘no refunds’ blank statement even when they have provided a product and service that is not usable to a consumer. Upon numerous attempts to reclaim my $1000aud that was paid for universal studios japan express passes to super Mario world, they have done nothing to help me even though they gave me tickets for a time I won’t even be in the park. They do t tell you they won’t give you options for your area entry time like all of the other booking sites do and upon ordering I kept waiting for the section to come but then my transaction went through with no choice. The random time they gave me is later than when we will even be here and they refuse to give me a cancellation or refund. I am fighting this and will dispute with my bank. When you buy a service or product that is not usable you are entitled to a refund. Get off your high horse hiding behind stupid ‘policies’ and help me.

We enjoyed a day tour in Hokkaido

We enjoyed a day tour in Hokkaido. The bus was clean and comfortable. Our tour bus driver drove us safely and smoothly throughout our visits to Asahiyama zoo, ningle terrace, shirahige falls. Our guide "Joe" was the best! Informative, fun, knowledgable, and organized. Thank you, Bobi and Mel

Don't buy from this app. I haven't got my refund after 14 working days. No reply from kkday

I purchased airport transfer from kkday. It was a friend who recommended this app to me. I followed the instruction, that I should contact the supplier mobile number by sending them messages, should I not hear from them 48hours after my purchased. I sent them messages, read but no response, even a day before I travel. Requested kkday to cancel my purchase. I was given lots of unnecessary stress, queries by kkday. Untill now, 14 working days passed, still haven't received.y refund. Contacted kkday many times, also no feedback. Don't bother to use this app. There are more apps or websites providing same services.

Highly unprofessional

Highly unprofessional - I regret not taking the negative reviews seriously. Everything was fine until our last stop. The driver/tour guide did not respond to our repetitive text requests for pick-up for more than 30 minutes. We were left waiting under the brutal sun. After the pickup, we ran into the rush hour due to this delay. The driver/tour guide kicked us off his car when the time is up for our 8-hour service. We did not get the drop off at the agreed ending destination. If you are from out of town/country, think twice before you hire this service. You will have to pay for the entire service upfront without any protection for your trip!! If you get assigned to this guy "鄭煥睿", request a reassignment immediately!!

Book a day tour to Kyoto ( Fushimi…

Book a day tour to Kyoto ( Fushimi Inari Taisha, Kiyomizudera, Kinkakuji anda Arashiyama Day Tour) on Wednesday 17th April 2019 .. infact writing this review in the tour bus on the way back to Osaka. Summary : No advisable to buy this tour from KKDay due to (1) Tour Guide Language Proficiency in English - Bus full of Foreigner Tourist but still explain in Japanese. (2) Timing - Too many places over too short period of time and everything is rushed rushed plus the Tour Guide walk very fast. (3) Information Accuracy - Poor explanation for pickup place after drop-off i.e. Don't cover all contingency. plan and never emphasised "what if" scenario.

This info on their website was…

This info on their website was incorrect: "Taipei 101/ World Trade Center MRT Station (Exit 4), turn right, walk for 10-15 meters and the KKday bus stop will be on City Hall Road". We lost the bus and found out that walking distance from exit 4 to shuttle bus stop is up to 100 meters. It was not possible to contact them thru their website. Additionally only taiwanese credit cards worked in their e-shop, although it was supposed to be international service and in english. Hong Kong and European credit cards failed. However the bus driver was friendly and flexible, and the trip itself was nice.

Frequent Flyer Freelancers

My wife and I are freelancers who travel all over Asia (and the world). We always check KKDay anytime we are planning the next trip, to see what deals we can get. Anything from local SIM cards and portions WiFi, to bus and train tickets, and exciting tours and experiences. We’ve used KKday fro trips to Japan, Vietnam, Taiwan, Hong Kong and also in our local country (Australia). A great be for I is being able to pay with credit card or Apple Pay, so we never have to worry about handling local currency (cash). Super smooth and easy experience every time, everywhere. Can’t live (should day travel) without it!

Very misleading

Very misleading. Purchased Universal Studios Japan Express pass, particularly due to the inclusion of one ride, downloaded the vouchers and it states clearly that the ride that we want to go on is closed on the date we travel. We would never have bought the pass had we known. Emailed KKDAY on the same day I bought the tickets and they said they can't do anything about it. Misleading advertising to say a ride is included when you know that its not.

This is the worst travel company ever.

This is the worst travel company ever. We booked a cruise through this company. After booking we realize the four of us are out in one room instead of two separate rooms. When contacting the company, we never get a proper answer. They dodge our questions, blame it back to the cruise company and just give mediocre responses. Three weeks later, we are still trying to figure out who can actually help us. If you want to feel stress out before your trip and over pay, definitely choose kkday!

We are here to travel and explore the country, this is very unprofessional service! WILL NOT BUY WITH KKDAY EVER AGAIN!! (Pls do something about your service pls)

Totally bad experience!

Totally bad experience!! Bought the JR Pass on 1st March 2023. However several times of delivery attempted failed but no phone call received particularly on receiving the delivery. After 2 weeks realized it still haven't arrived. Contacted support team but slow in reply. Only can call through kkday app which my friend helps me. Defer me to the a tracking website after that to courier services contact support since the product have been delivered (I need to call it myself) and it will take 2-3days for investigation. My trip will be in a week time. I'm not sure will they refund or how beause I'm too dissatisfied with their service! Please don't buy from them.

Untrustworthy

1. I tried to purchase an USJ express pass and the system didn't allow me to purchase 2 at the same time but rather 1 at a time. So I did it and it ended up giving me two different time slots. 2. The system shows the currency in AUD but it charged SGP in the end and costing me higher exchange rate and credit card exchange rate surcharge. Now I regret not to purchase the tickets on Klook instead.

Excellent App!

Been using KKDAY for 2 years now. I started off buying my travel wifi with them and now use it as a platform to check for activities before I even buy my flight tickets! I absolutely swear by them and out of 20+ transactions in 5 different cities, I am definitely hooked. I also really love the app which is compatible with ApplePay so booking everything is super fast and easy.

Untrusted vendor and Worst customer support ever

Worst customer support ever. I was cheated by one of their vendors and their only answer was: "It is your fault, you should have called us, now the problem is between you and them". Unbelievable! I would never recommend this company at all! 1- They work with untrusted vendors 2- They do not provide customer support but customer punishment when facing troubles. I have all the conversations with them, just unbelievable... Please, stay away, find other route!

Worst travel agent ever

Worst travel agent ever! I had purchased Taiwan Rail tickets through KKday. Taiwan Rail refunded one of the tickets to KKday due to an expired visa, but KKday refused to send the money back to me. Only after I complained to my credit card company did KKday return the money to me, and they pretended to do so happily, in the name of good customer service.

Bought a 7 day Sim card for Japan, turns out it didn't have data, it has signal but no data. I think I just got scammed. Asked customer service they were not helpful at all, they keel telling me to contact an uncontactable person. Don't trust their websites review as well, they're all probably fake reviews and they block bad reviews.

Hi there, Sorry for this situation, please kindly provide your booking number(19KK...) for us, thank you and sorry for all the inconvenience caused.

Beware of hidden additional charges!

Be warned, this company will try to add on additional charges to their advertised transfer price, on top of what you agree to pay online. We were asked to pay two further charges (timely asked for at the garage whilst refuelling). Plus the car was old with poor suspension, and no rear middle seat belt (it was a family mpv). I’d recommend going with an alternative company. Do not trust KKday!

Error by KKday but customer has to bear the error charge

Lousy customer service which does not address the rootcause of their error at all but keep repeating customer has to bear the cancellation charge. I recently booked a HSR train tickets but i realised the year of birth is wrong. At first i thought it was my typr error that resulted the voucher that was isseud to me was wrong. i contacted the support contact and it indicated i got to cancel my order and i wont not be able to get a full refund as there is a service fee incurred. A day later, after through the order information i realised what i submitted was correct but the voucher issued by KKday was wrong information. So i contacted the support again but they inssisted they are not able to reinstate my order and i still have to bear the 10% service charge. Why should a customer bear the charge when is not the fault of mine? all in all, they did not even explain or investigate why the error to prevent it from happening again. Disappointing agency!

Kkday launches in-depth travel-focused platform.

  • By Crystal Hsu / Staff reporter

travel contents kkday

Travel e-commerce platform KKday yesterday launched a new Web site — KKday Marketplace — as it aims to partner with local tour and accommodation providers to promote in-depth tour experiences across the nation.

The new platform is expected to feature offerings by up to 10,000 local partners, KKday said.

The partners would be able to launch their products on the platform, which would boost independent tourism, it said.

The platform would in the first phase target planners and providers of educational travel experiences, as well as outdoor activities, it said, adding that it set this focus because many people are concerned about the risk of contracting COVID-19 while traveling and health authorities continue to discourage social gatherings.

The recovery of domestic tourism reached 70 to 80 percent of pre-COVID-19 levels in the first quarter, before a domestic outbreak in May required the imposition of a nationwide level 3 COVID-19 alert.

Travel activity is expected to regain momentum after locally transmitted infections dwindled and the government issued the Quintuple Stimulus Vouchers, analysts have said.

KKday said that the new platform would help businesses create packages, coordinate activities, integrate their offerings and conduct promotion campaigns.

The platform would also help them operate more efficiently, it added.

KKday stores is launched as in-depth travel — with people staying at a destination longer to appreciate it deeper — gains traction, KKday said, adding that it expects the platform to grow in the short term.

TSMC beats out projections, posts record Q1 sales

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC, 台積電), the world’s largest contract chipmaker, yesterday reported record sales for the first quarter, which analysts attributed to solid demand for emerging technologies. Consolidated revenue totaled NT$592.64 billion (US$18.51 billion) in the January-to-March period, up 16.5 percent from a year earlier, but down 5.26 percent from the previous quarter, TSMC said in a statement. The first-quarter revenue beat analysts’ average projection of NT$579.5 billion, Bloomberg News reported. That performance lends weight to expectations that the world’s most valuable chipmaker would return to solid growth this year after weathering a post-COVID-19-pandemic cratering of smartphone and computer sales. Key Differences Between Klook And KKday

Till now we explored the basic’s of the two booking site. Now let’s dive deeper and compare some of the key features of Klook and KKday:

  • Business Model

Klook and KKday operate on a similar commission-based business model . They don’t charge any booking fees to users. Rather, they take a cut from the activity operators.

The platforms aggregate tours, attractions and other experiences from local suppliers around the world. When a user books and pays for an activity, the platforms take a commission from the operator – typically 10-30%. The rest of the payment goes to the local supplier.

This allows Klook and KKday to offer a huge selection of conveniently bookable activities, while users don’t have to pay any extra fees. It’s a win-win for both travelers and operators.

So both booking platforms take measures to ensure a reliable booking experience. Overall, Klook seems to have a slight edge with generally higher user ratings. But thousands of travelers vouch for KKday’s reliability as well.

About Master Concept

Founded in 2003, Master Concept provides technology services and cloud advisory to improve customer experience for the world’s leading brands. With more than 120 people serving enterprise clients and thousands of other businesses around the Asia Pacific, our team provides cloud strategy, implementation, integration support, as well as training and managed service for customers across all industries.

To facilitate its internal and external collaboration around the world, KKday uses Google Workspace to realize efficient and secure email exchange, file sharing and online meetings, while minimizing management effort.

  • Helps save operational costs by 37% with flexible subscription plans
  • Guarantees smooth email delivery while reducing spam by 50% with Gmail
  • Enables secure file access management with Google Drive
  • Supports aligned login authentication across more than 70 internal systems

Supports hybrid work model across 12 office locations

To many people, traveling means more than just sightseeing. As independent travel becomes increasingly popular, more and more travelers want to go off the beaten path to fully immerse themselves in local culture, visit hidden gems, or enjoy eye-opening experiences.

KKday is dedicated to creating unforgettable journeys for independent travelers, by offering more than 300,000 tours and travel activities in 92 countries on its ecommerce platform. Founded in 2014, the Taiwanese company partners with travel package providers around the world to design unique travel experiences, ranging from ice fishing tours in Alaska, to market tours with local chefs in Korea, and even a samurai experience tour in Japan.

"The mission of KKday is to bring our customers the most original travel experiences and help them make the most of their trips in an easy way," says Onnie Fong, CIO at KKday. "That is why we work closely with local tour providers in different countries, to continuously improve the experiences that we offer and broaden our tour selection."

Fong notes that communication is crucial to the success of KKday’s business. As the company has partners around the world and 12 office locations across Asia-Pacific, 90% of its internal and external communication relies on emails. The company needed reliable and easy-to-use online collaboration tools to support its daily operations. Before KKday was officially founded, the founding team used an email system deployed on its own email server, but it required substantial resources to manage the server, and the performance was not ideal. To avoid the hassle, KKday decided to deploy Google Workspace as its business collaboration platform from day one, because it offers a fully managed email service and supports easy file sharing.

"Our IT resources were limited, so we were looking for fully managed collaboration tools that deliver high performance, without requiring a lot of operational effort," explains Fong. "Google Workspace perfectly meets our needs by offering a full set of well-integrated and intuitive collaboration and productivity apps."

"Our IT resources were limited, so we were looking for fully managed collaboration tools that deliver high performance, without requiring a lot of operational effort. Google Workspace perfectly meets our needs by offering a full set of well-integrated and intuitive collaboration and productivity apps."

Supporting efficient communication while reducing operational costs

KKday has been using Google Workspace since 2014. As its business grows, the company sometimes requires technical support to overcome specific challenges and achieve more cost-effective use. Master Concept , a multinational cloud technology advisor and Google Cloud partner, has been giving KKday timely advice along the way. For example, when KKday needed to merge the Google Workspace accounts of a company that it had acquired with its own, Master Concept suggested using a third-party tool to accelerate the integration process. The cloud advisor has also helped KKday apply for a mixed subscription plan of Google Workspace, which is only possible through Google Cloud partners. This results in savings on operational costs, as KKday is able to upgrade the subscription plan for only the employees in need, instead of all staff.

The KKday team also relies on Gmail as its main communication tool and stores all its files on Google Drive , which supports easy file sharing through email attachments or URL links. Before adopting Gmail, KKday used to receive a large volume of spam, and have its emails undelivered once or twice a week. When an email was missing or undelivered, the KKday team needed to check with its partners to see whose email server ran into an error, which was time-consuming and disrupted daily operations. Since Gmail filters out most junk mail and ensures successful delivery, KKday now receives 50% less spam and is confident that its email system is not the cause of errors when a missing email event happens.

With Gmail and Google Drive, KKday also no longer needs several dedicated engineers to manage its own mail and file servers. Because Google Workspace tools come with detailed log records, KKday’s IT team is able to easily track the changes of emails and files, and resolve frequently encountered issues in less than 10 minutes. Now, it only requires one engineer spending half of his work time to manage KKday's email and file storage system that’s used by more than 700 employees.

"The performance of Gmail is way better than our previous email system supported by our own server. We don't have to worry about mail delivery errors any more, and the hardware and labor costs required have been greatly reduced," shares Fong.

Swift implementation of a hybrid work model across 12 office locations

KKday has been using Google Meet for years to conduct online meetings, which are scheduled through Google Calendar , across its 12 office locations in different countries. The live broadcast feature of Google Meet has also enabled KKday to effortlessly hold its biannual town hall meetings virtually for hundreds of employees. As a result, when the COVID-19 lockdown measure required employees to work from home between 2020 and 2022, the KKday staff were able to quickly adapt to remote collaboration and remain highly productive.

After seeing the success of remote work, KKday decided to make the hybrid work model permanent to enhance the company's agility, and give its employees greater autonomy. Fong says that the hybrid work model also fits KKday’s company values, which includes the motto "work hard, play hard."

"Together with Gmail and Google Drive, Google Meet and Google Calendar allow our employees to work wherever they want, and empower them with more freedom, which aligns with our company culture as an independent traveler enabler. Most of the time, I don't even know in which countries my colleagues are working from," Fong adds, laughing.

"The performance of Gmail is way better than our previous email system supported by our own server. We don't have to worry about mail delivery errors any more, and the hardware and labor costs required have been greatly reduced."

Safeguarding personal information with enhanced security

As a tourism company, KKday holds a huge amount of personal data of its customers, and therefore sees information security as one of its top priorities. It uses Classroom to provide its employees with related training, so that all its courses are organized in one place, and learning records are easily tracked. With Google Drive, the KKday team can easily limit access to files to relevant teams, which prevents data leaks. When a personnel is about to leave the company, all files that they own can be swiftly transferred to another employee, so that no file is lost due to staff changes.

Furthermore, KKday employs Google Account as the login authentication method for more than 70 internal systems. With the secure login mechanism supported by Google, KKday is able to ensure the security of its systems without creating a separate identity verification process. The security standards guaranteed by Google also means that KKday is in compliance with information security regulations across all countries.

"By providing Google accounts, Google Workspace has greatly raised the information security level of our business. We can rest assured that our systems comply with the regulations in different countries, and we are always ready for audits," notes Fong.

"For more than eight years, Google Workspace has not only served as the backbone of our business collaboration, but it also fundamentally transformed our work culture. We believe that it will continue boosting our productivity no matter how big we grow in the future."

Enabling global business expansion plans

As COVID-19 travel restrictions continue being lifted in many countries, KKday has seen its business grow rapidly, and expects the number of its employees to reach 1,000 by 2023. With fully managed and intuitive Google Workspace tools, KKday can effortlessly support team expansion without adding extra management or training resources. To facilitate its new businesses that require external partners, such as drivers, to access its internal systems, the company plans to leverage the Google account login method for greater security and management simplicity.

Fong says, "For more than eight years, Google Workspace has not only served as the backbone of our business collaboration, but it also fundamentally transformed our work culture. We believe that it will continue boosting our productivity no matter how big we grow in the future."

Moscow Travel Guide: Best Things to Do + More [2023]

· everything to know about visiting moscow, including the best things to do and how to get around. ·.

the red st basils church in moscow on a white winters day

Moscow is Russia’s vibrant capital city, and it also happens to be the largest city in all of Europe. The city’s long and infamous history makes it one of the most unique places we have ever visited.

The architecture ranges from centuries-old palaces to uniform, gray concrete buildings. The people range from cold and private to warm and welcoming. Moscow is a city is strong juxtapositions, and we learned a lot during our time there.

This post will break down all you need to know about visiting Moscow, including the best things to do, how to get there, how to get around, and more.

The Best Things to Do in Moscow

1. explore the red square.

The Red Square is the heart of Moscow. Most of the city’s top attractions can be found here, including just about everything on this list. The Kremlin, St. Basil’s Cathedral, and Lenin’s Mausoleum are all located here, and the State Historical Museum and GUM are not far from here, either.

The Red Square is a common home for parades, protests, and seasonal celebrations. There are massive Christmas celebrations here, with food vendors and carnival rides set up in numbers.

2. Check Out the Ziferblat

The Ziferblat is a café in Moscow that is unlike any café we have ever been to. While most cafes charge you for your drinks and food, the Ziferblat charges you for your time.

Upon arrival, you are given a clock. When you leave, the barista calculates how much time you spent in the café and charges you accordingly. This concept was created to help visitors to be more intentional with their time, and the cafe itself is incredibly charming.

For a detailed look at everything you need to know before you visit, make sure you read my post about visiting the Ziferblat Cafe in Moscow .

3. Marvel at St. Basil’s Cathedral

St. Basil’s Cathedral is one of the most iconic churches in the world, and it was the single thing we were most excited to see while in Moscow. Built almost 500 years ago, St. Basil’s Cathedral is recognized by its colorful domes and whimsical style. The church is of the Russian Orthodox faith, and the inside is just as wondrous as the outside.

St. Basil’s Cathedral is located on the edge of the Red Square, making it incredibly convenient to visit. Entrance for non-worshippers costs 800 rubles, and tickets can be bought at the church

4. Explore the Kremlin

The Kremlin is the largest active fortress in Europe, and it is the site of most of Russia’s government affairs. In addition to government buildings, the Kremlin Complex is filled with courtyards, towers, and museums that are open to the public. If you have the time, you could spend a couple of days fully exploring all that there is to see in the Kremlin.

5. Walk Through Lenin’s Mausoleum

Vladimir Lenin is one of the most important figures in Russian history, and his body is located perfectly embalmed in a mausoleum in the Red Square. The Mausoleum is open to the public to visit, and as long as you are willing to go through a few security checks, it is easily one of the best things to do in Moscow. Its convenient location in the Red Square makes it a can’t miss attraction.

There is absolutely no photography allowed inside the Mausoleum. Do not test this rule.

6. Wander Along Arbat Street

The Arbat is a very popular street in Moscow that is lined with stores, cafes, and other touristy attractions. It is one of the oldest streets in the city, dating back to the 1400s. This street is both quaint and trendy, and there are many walking tours that introduce tourists to the neighborhood’s wonders and highlights.

7. Catch a Show at the Bolshoi Theatre

As a lover of the arts, it is hard to think of Moscow and not think of ballet. Russia has always been a top dog in the world of fine arts, and Bolshoi Theater is one of the best places to catch a performance. We were lucky enough to attend an Opera here, and it is a venue that you don’t want to miss out on if you enjoy opera, ballet, or orchestral performances.

8. Visit the State Historical Museum

The State Historical Museum is one of the most respected museums in Moscow. Despite its name, it is not really focused on the history of Russia as a nation. Rather, it contains a collection of artifacts from all throughout Russia’s history.

The museum’s collection is very broad in nature. It houses some items from indigenous tribes that used to occupy the region, pieces collected by the Romanov family, and more.

9. Wander Around GUM

GUM is an absolutely massive mall within walking distance of the Red Square. It isn’t just the size that draws visitors here; it’s the sense of luxury. The mall is so beautiful inside, much like the metro stations.

While visiting a mall might not sound like it belongs on a bucket list, this mall does. You will not want to miss out on visiting GUM while in Moscow.

10. Admire the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour

While St. Basil’s Cathedral is the most iconic church in Moscow, it isn’t the only one. The Cathedral of Christ the Saviour is absolutely stunning, with massive golden domes. It is the tallest Orthodox church in the world, and it is the seat of the Orthodox Patriarch of Moscow.

It is located just about a mile from the Red Square, just south of the Kremlin Complex. You can walk to it from the Red Square in about 20 minutes.

How to Get to Moscow

Flying to moscow.

Moscow has three major international airports: Sheremetyevo (SVO) , Domodedovo (DMO) , and Vnukovo (VKO) . All three of them are directly connected to downtown Moscow by the Aeroexpress trains, which leave every 30 minutes throughout the day. By Aeroexpress train, you can expect to get to the city center in 25-45 minutes depending on the airport that you fly into.

Sheremetyevo is the biggest and busiest of the three airports, and it is the one you are most likely to fly into – especially if you are coming from outside of Europe or the Caucus region. We flew into Sheremetyevo on a direct flight from New York City.

I usually provide backup airport options, because flying right into the city isn’t always the cheapest way to get where you’re going. Unfortunately, when it comes to Moscow, don’t really have a choice other than to fly right into Moscow. It is a very remote city, and it is usually the cheapest place to fly into in Russia as a whole.

Since Sheremetyevo is so busy, you will probably find a great flight option anyway. I wrote in  my post about finding cheap flights  that using hub airports will lead to more affordable airfare, and the same logic applies here. Even though Russia’s national airline, Aeroflot, is no longer a member of the SkyTeam Alliance, Moscow is still a major hub connecting passengers from all over the world.

Train or Bus to Moscow

Trains and buses are one of the most popular ways to get around Europe. However, they’re of very little use when you’re trying to get to Moscow.

Moscow is hundreds of miles from the nearest major cities. The only major European city that can even be reached within 8 hours on the ground is St. Petersburg, and even the Baltic capitals of Riga, Vilnius, and Tallinn are over 12 hours away.

If you want to get to Moscow, the best option is almost always to fly. While the train routes to Moscow are scenic, they simply take forever.

How to Get Around Moscow

METRO | TROLLEYS | TRAMS | BUSES

Moscow has one of the most memorable metro systems in the world. Its metro lines are very deep underground, and the stations are absolutely stunning. Each station has its own unique style, but all of them contain escalators that seem to go on forever.

turned-on chandelier on ceiling of moscow metro

The system was built in an effort to showcase the power of the Soviet Union and its bright future. The plans were a form of propaganda, but they resulted in what is still one of the most visually appealing subway systems on earth.

Moscow’s metro system isn’t just pretty. It is also very useful and accessible. The system has 17 lines that connect the city and its surrounding area.

But wait; there’s more!

The Moscow metro system is also incredibly affordable, with each ride costing less than a dollar. The metro is by far the best way to get around Moscow, as it is almost impossible to beat the connection times and the low cost to ride.

Tickets can be bought at electronic, English-speaking kiosks in stations, or directly from ticket counters at certain larger stations. There are also day passes available, which are a very solid option if you plan on riding the metro several times per day.

The metro is by far the best way to get around Moscow.

In addition to the metro system, Moscow also has a network of buses, trams, and trolleys. This system is nowhere near as convenient or well-connected as the metro, though, and is likely of little use to you during your trip. There is no Uber in Moscow, but a similar app named Yandex is available if you need a ride in a pinch.

How Many Days Do You Need in Moscow?

Moscow is the biggest city in all of Europe, and it is absolutely loaded with things to do. You could spend weeks in Moscow and still find new things to do. Of course, most travelers don’t have that kind of time to spend in one place!

I recommend spending no less than three full days in Moscow, and ideally closer to five or seven.

Moscow is very spread out, and it can take some time to get from one major point to another. There are also so many places that are nice to just sit back and relax, which is hard to do when you’re in a hurry trying to cram activities into just a few days.

If you only have a week to visit Russia, I’d advise spending all of the time in one city. If you decide to split your time between Moscow and St. Petersburg, I recommend not trying to squeeze in any day trips beyond those two cities.

When Is the Best Time of the Year to Visit Moscow?

There are two different ways to approach this question. Personally, I think the best time to visit Moscow is around Christmas and New Year’s Day. While the weather will be absolutely freezing, Moscow is a surreal winter wonderland in December and January.

We were in Moscow right before Christmas. While it was very cold, you can always bundle up. Exploring the Christmas markets and pop-up ice skating rinks throughout Moscow is one of my favorite memories from anywhere I’ve traveled, and I dream of going back to do it again.

If you aren’t fond of the cold, Moscow is beautiful in the summer. It tends to get pretty cold in the shoulder seasons, so if you want warm weather, you should plan to visit in the summer. Moscow actually gets pretty warm in July and August, and there are a bunch of fantastic places to soak up the sun within the city.

The best time to visit Moscow is either around Christmas or from late May to August.

Is Moscow Safe to Visit?

While Moscow is a truly wonderful city, there’s no denying that visiting Russia comes with risks. As the country is run by an infamous communist dictator, concerns about visiting are valid. While we didn’t experience any sort of threat or negative treatment during our time in Moscow, we visited in a peaceful time.

In our experience, Russia doesn’t seem to detain normal Americans or Westerners to use as pawns. As a regular person, as long as you don’t commit any crimes, there is a slim chance you will run into any issues. However, Russia will not hesitate to enforce its laws against foreigners, and illegal behaviors will likely land you in a very compromising position.

Russia will not hesitate to enforce its laws against foreigners, and illegal behaviors will likely land you in a very compromising position.

To make matters worse, Russia has a bad reputation for gang violence. While the Russian mafia has very little interest in normal Western tourists, they won’t hesitate to pick a fight with anyone who ventures into their sphere of influence. If you seek out illegal substances or activities, you could be a target of the mafia.

If you seek out illegal substances or activities, you could be a target of the mafia.

Finally, since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, things are all very different. Russia is currently at war, and there are battles raging within 8 hours of Moscow. While it is still relatively safe to visit, that could change at any time as the war with Ukraine continues.

Is Moscow Worth Visiting?

Without a doubt, Moscow is worth visiting. It is one of the most unique major cities we have ever visited, and we hope to make it back one day. The Russian Orthodox churches are stunning, the city’s history is unlike any other, and the food is to die for.

While many visitors prefer St. Petersburg to Moscow, I think Moscow deserves a lot of hype of its own. Moscow is the beating heart of Russian culture and history, and it’s a place I highly recommend checking out if you have the chance.

17 Exciting Things to do in Moscow

Written By: Linda Voltaire

Updated On: December 21, 2022

the very best things to do in moscow

Visiting Russia? These are the top 17 things to do in Moscow to help you plan your trip.

If the western world has New York City , the first great metropolis on the eastern side of our planet is Moscow. A huge city with a complicated and impressive history, Moscow gets a bad rep over Russian politics – but that doesn’t make it any less impressive. Capital to the largest country in the world, Moscow takes the grandeur of its standing very seriously.

This is a place where luxury is king and where opulence takes a front seat in every aspect of life. The buildings are grand and imposing, the parks are luscious and enormous, and even the subway stations look different in Moscow than anywhere else in the world.

Best Things to do in Moscow, Russia

Walking around Moscow is also going through the tumultuous history of the 20th century, which had Russia as one of its main protagonists. There are fascinating remains of these times everywhere in the former Soviet capital, from the gorgeous Seven Sisters skyscrapers to the Orthodox cathedrals that were closed for the better part of a century.  Still, Moscow is also a completely modern city, with a vibrant social and party scene, incredible restaurants, and some of the most luxurious hotels in the world.

After living in Russia’s capital as an ex-pat for four years, I got the privilege to experience not only the main attractions in Moscow but also the everyday life in this huge city and quickly found my sweat spots off the beaten tracks! So here is my list of my top 17 things to do in this exciting metropolis!

Attractions in Moscow

When visiting a famous city like this one, it’s a must to go through the most iconic landmarks first. Moscow has plenty of those, most of them in the center of the city, which is very well-planned for tourists.

1. The Red Square, Kremlin & Surrounding Area

moscow tourist attractions | St. Basil’s Cathedral

No place tells the story of Moscow’s power in the past century the way the Red Square does. This is where the biggest political meetings in the USSR occurred for many decades, and you can feel the power on each step.

Here, you’ll also find the historic museum at the entrance, showcasing the decades of history behind this iconic landmark. The Lenin Mausoleum, perhaps the most famous resting place in the world and home to the remains of the former communist leader, is also here.

On one side of the Red Square you’ll find the Kremlin, the fortified complex that now hosts the presidential residence. This is also home to the most iconic of all Moscovite landmarks: St. Basil’s Cathedral, a 16th-century marvel of colors. This is the best spot to take a selfie and show the world you’ve reached the Russian capital!

  • Get your Kremlin Skip the Line Tickets and Kremlin tour here.
  • Free cancellation up to 24-hours in advance of the tour.

2. Bolshoi Theatre

moscow things to do | bolshoi theatre

You can easily spend a couple of days just exploring the Moscovite city centre, and the Bolshoi Theatre should be your second stop. Walk past the Red Square and then head to the nearby Bolshoi Theatre, one of the oldest and most renowned houses of opera and ballet on Earth.

Visit for the impressive early 19th-century architecture, but if you’re seeing a ballet performance, make sure you book between 3 and 6 months in advance! I can strongly recommend this as it is a truly unique experience!

  • Book a private 2-hour tour of the legendary Bolshoi Theatre.
  • See the presidential box reserved for tzars, watch a rehearsal and skip the lines through a separate entrance.
  • Free Cancellation up to 24-hours in advance.

3. Luxury Shopping at GUM and TSUM

russia moscow sites | GUM

While many might think of Moscow as the sad place with the long bread queues from the USSR days, it’s been quite the capitalist haven for a while.

If you’re up for some shopping, you’ll find one of the biggest luxury malls in town, TSUM, right behind the Bolshoi and GUM, at the red square. GUM is the most famous department store in town, where you’ll find luxury everywhere and all high-end brand.

All in an imposing late 19th-century building with lots of history, worth a visit just for the design, its bridges and the glass roof even though you are not up for shopping!

4. Christ the Savior Cathedral

things to see in moscow | christ the savoir cathedral

A newer addition to the gorgeous Moscovite cathedrals and my grandeur neighbor during my years in the city Don’t let the young age of this building fool you. After the perestroika in the early 90s, the newly revived Russian Orthodox Church received permission to build a cathedral on this site. They did the location honors and built the largest temple of the Christian Orthodox Church.

The façade is as grand as you’d expect, but it’s the inside that will mesmerize you, with its domes as tall as the skies in bright gold and gorgeous paintings and decor! Bring a shawl to cover your hair to adjust to the local tradition.

Head to the back of the cathedral and you will find one of the most photographed bridges in Moscow, the Patriarshiy Most. This is the perfect spot to get a good view and photo of the cathedral but also to see the Kreml and Gorky Park from a distance. Or why not just enjoy a moment watching the river and its boats!

  • Get around Moscow with ease using the Hop On Hop Off boat and Bus ticket. 24, 48 or 72-hour tickets available.

5. Gorky Park

tourist attractions in moscow | gorky park

Cross the river and head to Gorky Park along the Moscow river. The most famous green area in town, similar to New York ’s Central Park and the weekend hangout for locals. There are many beautiful parks in the city, but if you’re only visiting for a few days, this is the unmissable one!

With fair attractions to entertain children, beautiful artificial lakes and gardens, and lots of outdoor activities, it’s a lovely place to relax. A place of rest in the middle of the metropolis. The area in front of the New Tretyakov Gallery & the Muzeon Park of Arts is actually one of my favorite oasis as a bit more quiet and peaceful than Gorky itself.

Why not spend some time in the museum to get a great tour of Russia’s history through art or just enjoy the art exhibition outside where local artists spend their weekends.

6. River Cruising

tourist attractions points of interest

One of the best ways to experience Moscow is from the Moscow River. There are many stops for the boats and one is just next to Gorky Park. See the city from another perspective – and turn the ride into a romantic one by taking the evening cruise. Moscow is magic during the night.

If you’re looking for a truly luxurious experience, take the Radisson Blu cruise – or the Erwin for a delicious seafood dinner. Both stop at Gorky or at the luxury Radisson Royal Hotel, set in one of the Seven Sister’s skyscrapers.

  • We use Get Your Guide when booking city tours and they offer a River Sightseeing Cruise seeing all the main tourist attractions in Moscow

7. Metro Hopping

unusual things in moscow | train station

First inaugurated in the 1930s, the Moscow subway system is one of the oldest in the world, and certainly the most beautiful. Started under Stalinist times, each metro station is dedicated to grandeur and oozing personality.

Visiting the subway stops is an attraction in and of itself, and Komsomolskaya, Mayakovskaya, Kropotkinskaya are my favorites. Those surrounding the Red Square are also mesmerizing – in general, these are kind of like underground palaces.

Most of the signs at the Moscow Metro now have Latin letters, so it’s very easy to get around!Unfortunately, the trains are not as beautiful and pleasant as the stations but still, this is a true Moscow experience.  Take a guided tour of the 9 most beautiful Metro Stations including the award-winning art deco station. See more details here.

8. Arbatskaya & Artsy Moscow

place to visit in moscow | arabatskaya

Novy Arbat Street is one of the most touristy areas in the city, with lots of shops and cafés directed at visitors. When you walk a little beyond, you’ll find a different part of town, where the hip scene thrives because so many artists live in the area. Just follow the small streets with fewer tourists!

9. Moscow State University View

moscow unique things to do | university

In his effort to create a grander Moscow, Stalin had seven skyscrapers built in different parts of town; they’re called the Seven Sisters. The largest of these buildings hosts the main building of the Moscow State University, one of the most prestigious colleges in Russia – and the one with the best view.

Although this is a little outside the city centre, the sight from above is more than worth it, with the nearby fountains and park and then the whole of the city behind them.

10. Russian Market

where to shop in moscow | russian market

If you love to visit markets wherever you go, Moscow has one of the most impressive ones in the world – the Izmailovsky. You can easily take the metro here and feel like you’ve been transported to another time.

This place was first built in the 16th century and retains the look of an old fairytale, with a lineup of colorful old castle. A lovely local experience beyond the confines of the bustling metropolis, where you can also try some delicious Russian barbecue.

Here, you’ll find beautiful souvenirs at great prices.

Off The Beaten Track Moscow

unique moscow things to do | graffiti

Once you’ve covered the most touristic spots, Moscow still has plenty to offer – and the places below will also be full of locals! Moscow is a city for hipsters, full of trendy and arty spots where you can literally feel the creativity oozing! So for some local vibes, I would strongly recommend my sweat spots below!

11. Patriarshiye Prudy

moscow unique things to do | patriarshy prudy

This is my favorite area in the entire city! While Moscow is generally a very noisy metropolis, Patriarch Ponds is far quieter, yet such a vibrant place. This is a very hip and trendy area making you think you are rather in Paris than in Moscow. Here the streets are narrow and full of chic eateries and clubs to see the local crowd.

A little bohemian and with an air of peace you won’t find anywhere in the city this is a great spot to spend an afternoon with your thoughts.

12. ArtPlay

museums in moscow | artplay

Barely 15 minutes away from the city center you’ll find the artsiest Moscow district: ArtPlay. For decades, this block was a factory, but it was renovated to become a hub for the arts not too long ago.

Now, you’ll find it’s full of exhibitions, showrooms and art schools – and some of the most creative people in town. Writers, painters, and young hip people use ArtPlay as a rendezvous, and you can feel the creative energy here. The industrial design with modern interior decoration is also a feast for the eyes!

13. Shopping Local Designs

moscow sightseeing | shopping district

If you’re into design, both international and local, you’ll find lots of cute things at Patriarshiye Prudy. Department store Podium Market is also a great spot for shopping, as a department store everywhere in town, with lots of local and international brands. There’s one in the Four Seasons Hotel next to Red Square. My favorite Moscow mall is Tsvetnoy Central Market, a cool spot with great brands, lots of inspo, and even a cute café!

14. Moscow City

modern skyscrapers of moscow

Like many other great capitals of the world, for the past few decades, Moscow has hosted a super modern area full of modern skyscrapers – Moscow City. With a completely different vibe than the rest of town, it’s like a mini Dubai, with lots of impressively tall glass buildings. Here, you’ll find the best rooftops in towns, such as Ruski and Sixty they are perfect spots for dining or enjoying a glass of wine with a view. There are also a relatively new shopping mall with lots of international brands called Affimall!

Wine, Dine, and Party in Moscow

view of moscow from ruski

Gone are the gloomy Moscow days – cold as it might be in the winter, Russia’s capital is a place for the senses. Great food and drinks abound – and the clubs are hot, too!

15. Where to Eat in Moscow

where to eat in moscow

Moscow is a great metropolis where people love to dine out, and there are endless options for delicious food. The flavors are as diverse as you’d expect from a big city, with options of fine dining and little hipster eateries.

  • For traditional Russian flavors, I can’t recommend Café Pushkin, Dr. Zhivago, and Turnadot enough.
  • When looking for international cuisines, Italian is always the way to go, and my local favorite is Probka.
  • Fine dining is best done among the clouds at White Rabbit, with European flavors.
  • As for the hip spots, you can spend a full day just eating around trendy places, from burgers to Asian fusion.

More Dining Options

  • Patriarshiye Prudy offers a lot of small and classy spots with cool concepts, like breakfast restaurants I Love Cake and Fresh.
  • For dinner, I love the NYC experience of Saxon & Parole, and the wonderful trendy Pins, with its delicious food and drinks.
  • For delicious Asian food head to CutFish.
  • Lastly, there’s a recent revival of food markets in Moscow, offering lots of great choices of international flavors at affordable places.
  • Don’t miss out the Vietnamese food stand at the Danilovsky market, and everything at Usachevsky!

16. Rooftopping

things to do in moscow russia | city scape

Big cities deserve to be seen from above, having a cocktail among the clouds. These are my recommendations for rooftop bars in Moscow.

  • As I mentioned in the Moscow City section, Sixty & Ruski are two of my favorites, overlooking the newest part of town.
  • White Rabbit and its fine dining is also a lovely place for a fun dinner looking down on Moscow.
  • O2, in the city center, has an advantage above all others: amazing views of the Red Square.
  • Buono, above the Radisson Royal Hotel, might be the most romantic rooftop hotel in town, with its candlelit setting.
  • Also on the Radisson stands the Mercedes. It’s a luxurious and posh experience with delicious cocktails.
  • The Sky Lounge offers a peculiar experience, mixing an old Soviet building with futuristic additions.

17. Moscow by Night

must do in moscow | moskva river

Party the night away! The city is full of bars everywhere, but there are some areas where you’ll find more than others.

  • Patriarshiye Prudy has lots of hip and small clubs and great bars, including the super fun private club Clava, which has a great vibe and people from all walks of life.
  • For more hipster style bars, Red October is the place to go.
  • Streak is a summer favorite, with a lovely terrace to catch a beautiful sunset – plus, their mozzarella bar is delicious.
  • At night, Red October lights up with clubs everywhere, including the cool rooftop one Gipsy.
  • Jagger is also a great spot during summer with a more relaxed vibe in garden setting.
  • For the traditional Russian luxury experience, go to SohoRooms, a whole other world including all-night go-go dancers.

There are so many things to do in Moscow at night and during the day, you definitely need several days to explore this exciting destination.

Moscow is a must-see city, a city like no other ! I hope you will enjoy this Russian metropolis as much as I did!

These places look so awesome! Moscow is truly a beautiful city

Very good article, you have explained so nicely. Russia has always been a part of history and its good to know about much more about architecture and other things, wish i could see the inside of façade

Thanks for sharing such a nice article. You have very beautifully explained everything that one need for a trip to Moscow.

Nice article. Love the hidden gems and graffiti art, would love to visit Artplay. Thanks for a comprehensive guide to Moscow!

Moscow is a city where the past and the future live side by side. Here we can find everything from medieval fortresses and Soviet monoliths to glass skyscrapers and innovation centers.

Your article is good and meaningful .

Thanks for sharing about ArtPlay district, we didn’t know about it and it looks amazing 🙂 Hopefully there’ll be a second time in Moscow, we visited last May and really liked the city!

Wonderful stuff! I’ve been to Moscow, but not properly – it’s a long story lol!

Anyhoo, my next thing is to fly from Berlin to Moscow and then travel from there to Beijing via the Trans-Mongolian / Trans-Siberian train. Now, if only I could just find the time …!

I hear Moscow is very beautiful at night. I hope to get out there one day. A friend of mine went to St. Petersburg and had a great experience. Despite all the tension we see on the news with Russia and other Countries like the U.S. I wonder what the sentiment is with Russians and foreigners visiting their country for tourism. Especially Americans.

that looks like quite a beautiful place. 🙂

Vince McMahon's life after WWE: Kittens, vacations and staying in touch with Trump

Photo Illustration: Vince McMahon and WWE Headquarters

As he faces a mountain of legal woes, former WWE leader Vince McMahon is traveling, eating out and keeping in touch with friends and associates — including former President Donald Trump.

McMahon resigned as executive chairman of World Wrestling Entertainment’s parent company almost three months ago after a former employee, Janel Grant, accused him in a bombshell lawsuit of sexual abuse and trafficking. He denied the allegations. McMahon, 78, is also facing a federal criminal investigation , although he hasn’t been charged.

NBC News and CNBC talked to 11 people familiar with McMahon and WWE about how he’s been spending his time — and how the global brand he built over more than four decades is moving on without him. These people, including close personal associates and company insiders, declined to be named, citing ongoing legal cases and the confidential nature of internal corporate communications.

Multiple WWE insiders said he hasn’t had any contact with company leaders and figureheads since he resigned. Mark Shapiro, the operating chief of WWE parent company TKO Group Holdings, said in March that McMahon “doesn’t work for the company, doesn’t come into the office, and he’s not coming back to the company.”

That also means McMahon hasn’t talked to his son-in-law, WWE creative chief and former superstar Paul “Triple H” Levesque, or daughter, Stephanie McMahon-Levesque, regarding company matters, sources said. While she introduced WWE’s WrestleMania event earlier this month, McMahon-Levesque, who worked beside her father for more than 20 years and played roles in storylines, currently has no involvement with the company, according to people familiar with the matter. Levesque and McMahon-Levesque declined to comment through a spokesperson, as did a WWE representative.

UFC 276: Adesanya v Cannonier

McMahon is nonetheless indelibly linked with the wrestling outfit, which he bought from his father 42 years ago. Still, he seems to have moved on, according to multiple sources. McMahon has kept up his other routines, and it’s as if he’s unfazed by his legal fights, two sources said. For instance, on an afternoon in late March, McMahon returned on a private plane to the United States from the sunny Turks and Caicos Islands -- but he wasn’t alone, according to a person close to him. He had with him seven kittens and a puppy, all of which he brought back to be adopted by his friends, this person added.

“If anything, he’s enjoying life,” said the person, who added that McMahon had also taken a trip to Italy.

Jessica Rosenberg, an attorney for McMahon, declined to comment regarding the aspects of the former WWE chief’s life reported in this article. In an emailed statement Tuesday, however, she criticized Grant’s suit: “The lawsuit’s claims are false, defamatory and entirely without merit. We intend to vigorously defend Mr. McMahon and are confident that he will be vindicated.”

Life amid litigation

The details of McMahon’s life after his WWE reign present a stark contrast to Grant’s accusations, which paint a graphic portrait of a violent and controlling man. In the federal lawsuit, filed Jan. 25, Grant’s attorneys said that she was “the victim of physical and emotional abuse, sexual assault and trafficking at WWE,” naming McMahon and former WWE executive John Laurinaitis. Both men have denied the accusations in the suit. The lawsuit also named WWE as a defendant. WWE and its parent company, TKO, have said that they take Grant’s allegations “very seriously.”

“Vince McMahon raped, trafficked and physically assaulted Janel Grant as part of his decades-long normalization of treating women within the WWE as objects. He might have thought that Janel would just walk away, but that wishful thinking couldn’t be further from the case,” Ann Callis, an attorney for Grant, said in a statement Wednesday. “Every day we are focused on adding to our mountain of evidence, speaking with other victims, hiring renowned experts on sex trafficking/coercive control and preparing to vociferously litigate this case.”

Federal investigators seized a phone from McMahon and have been trying to determine whether federal law was broken in the conduct surrounding Grant’s allegations, NBC News reported in February . WWE had disclosed last summer that investigators served McMahon with a federal grand jury subpoena and executed a search warrant in July.McMahon is cooperating with authorities, according to one of the people close to him. McMahon believes officials won’t bring any charges against him and that Grant’s civil case will be settled out of court, said a person close to the former wrestling executive.

Nicholas Biase, a spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, declined to comment.

A spokesperson for Grant’s attorneys said that there have been absolutely no settlement talks with McMahon.

Vince McMahon speaks to an audience during a WWE fan appreciation event in Hartford, Conn. on Oct. 30, 2010.

While his legal battles persist, McMahon is often ferried by a private driver from his posh Connecticut home to Manhattan, according to one of the sources close to him. There, he eats with friends at restaurants such as the old-school Italian spot Il Tinello East on 46th Street, sees his longtime barber for biweekly haircuts and works with his personal trainer multiple times a week, the source said.  Two other sources, however, say McMahon has otherwise been “quite guarded” and often on the phone with his lawyers to map out plans since Grant’s lawsuit was made public.

Staying in touch

McMahon has also talked to Trump, according to two of the people close to the wrestling impresario. The two billionaires have been in touch regularly, according to a person close to McMahon, although it isn’t clear what they’ve discussed.

Trump and the McMahon family go way back: The former president hosted two WrestleMania events in Atlantic City in the late 1980s, engaged in a wrestling “feud” with McMahon in 2007 and is a member of the WWE Hall of Fame. Linda McMahon, McMahon’s wife, served as the Small Business Administration’s head in Trump’s Cabinet, led a pro-Trump super PAC and is now on the board of the publicly traded Trump Media and Technology Group.

In 2022, The Wall Street Journal reported that McMahon paid $5 million in previously unrecorded expenses to the since-dissolved Donald J. Trump Foundation during two of the years Trump appeared on WWE programming.

Vince McMahon gets more than he bargained for when Donald Trump got physical after signing the contract for Wrestlemania XXIII's \"Hair vs Hair\" match at Monday Night RAW in Washington on March 12, 2007.

Trump, who’s running for a second term as president, has also been accused of sexual assault and is facing his own costly pile of civil and criminal legal troubles, including four separate indictments. Trump has denied wrongdoing in his various cases, pleading not guilty in each criminal proceeding, including a New York trial that started Monday. Another person close to McMahon said that the two men don’t discuss their legal problems and that Trump doesn’t provide legal advice.

Hours after the publication of this story, a spokesperson for McMahon pushed back.

“Mr. McMahon has not been ‘staying in touch’ or ‘been in touch regularly’ with former President Trump. He has spoken with Mr. Trump once in the past several years and that was for about a minute or so after Mr. McMahon’s back surgery. Other than that, there have been no communications between the two,” the spokesperson said.

A representative for Trump declined to comment.

Since he resigned, McMahon has been in touch with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and John Cena, sources said. Johnson and Cena, both Hollywood superstars, are two of WWE’s biggest success stories.

Publicly, Johnson has thanked TKO and WWE executives regarding his addition to the TKO board earlier this year. In February, Cena told the radio host Howard Stern that “the whole thing is super unfortunate and it sucks,” while noting that he loves McMahon and has a “great relationship” with him. “But in the same breath,” he added at the time, “I’m also a big advocate of accountability.”

WrestleMania 29 Press Conference

Cena and Johnson are both represented by the William Morris Endeavor agency, which is part of Endeavor Group — the majority owner of TKO.A spokesperson for Johnson declined to comment. A representative for Cena didn’t respond to requests for comment.

WWE in transition

This isn’t the first time WWE has had to contend with controversy stemming from its former longtime leader. McMahon was acquitted of federal criminal charges in the early 1990s related to the steroid scandal that engulfed the wrestling world at the time.

In 2022, he briefly stepped down as WWE’s leader after the Journal reported that he paid millions of dollars to multiple women to cover up his alleged extramarital affairs. The Journal also reported that other women had come forward with sexual misconduct allegations . WWE amended its financial reports to reflect the payments. McMahon denied all wrongdoing.

His daughter helped take over leadership of the company in the interim, but McMahon-Levesque resigned when her father, who owned a controlling stake in WWE, returned in early 2023 . McMahon then engineered a deal to merge the company with Endeavor Group’s UFC to form TKO. Longtime Hollywood super agent Ari Emanuel is the CEO of both Endeavor and TKO.

That deal, announced in April 2023 , made McMahon the executive chairman of the new company, and he gave up majority control of WWE. At the time, he told CNBC he wouldn’t be “in the weeds” with creative decisions but he would weigh in on big decisions. That marked a big shift for McMahon. His family has been in the business dating back to the early 20th century. After buying the company from his father, who was known as “Vince Sr.,” the younger McMahon then employed flamboyant superstars such as Hulk Hogan and the Rock, staging glitzy pay-per-view events like WrestleMania, to build it into an international sensation. And while WWE is still defined in part by the family, McMahon’s daughter and son-in-law are publicly attempting to push the brand into the future.

WrestleMania 40

At WrestleMania 40, held earlier this month in Philadelphia, McMahon-Levesque surprised the crowd with an appearance and hailed her husband’s leadership. “Every Wrestlemania is special for its own reason, but I think WrestleMania 40 might be the one I’m most proud of, because this is the first WrestleMania of the Paul Levesque era,” she said . (Linda McMahon joined her daughter backstage, according to an Instagram photo posted by wrestling star Charlotte Flair.) Levesque himself proclaimed a “new era” for WWE.

It was a significant moment for the brand, coming during the first WrestleMania since the Grant lawsuit -- and it’s the first one under TKO’s management. Still, some rank-and-file WWE employees have griped that the company hasn’t done more to address the situation, according to an insider. After McMahon quit, Shapiro told a global town hall for both TKO and Endeavor employees “in no uncertain terms” that the former wrestling boss wouldn’t return, according to another insider. Shapiro also assured employees that Levesque and WWE President Nick Khan have his support, this person said.

Otherwise, WWE is more relaxed since McMahon resigned in January, sources said. When McMahon was still running things, he would come in late in the afternoon and often stay until around midnight or beyond, two current employees said. (His office at WWE headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, is unoccupied but otherwise intact, according to an executive, who called it “spooky.”) He had a reputation for being capricious and quick to fire employees, which generated fear and created a chilling effect, according to sources.

Now there’s more levity and freedom to make a mistake or suggest an idea, some employees said.

The current leadership operates more conventionally, giving underperforming employees a standard progress report and opportunities to improve before taking action, they added.

World Wrestling Entertainment Headquarters

Some McMahon loyalists remain, but one employee said: “WWE is actually a really great place to work, and Vince distracted from that. It’s been much better since he left.” Another said: “People feel like they’re on steadier ground.”The company, meanwhile, is charting its post-McMahon course with the help of lucrative media rights deals. In September, WWE signed a $1.4 billion deal with NBC News’ parent company, NBCUniversal, for domestic rights to “Friday Night SmackDown.” In January, it inked a 10-year, $5 billion pact with Netflix to move its flagship “Raw” show and other programs to the streaming giant next year. WWE announced both agreements after it became part of TKO and McMahon ceded much of his official control over the brand.

There’s yet another sign suggesting that McMahon’s distance from WWE is more than temporary: He has sold hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of shares in TKO since November, a sizable chunk of those sales coming after he resigned in January. That’s different from when he briefly stepped down in 2022.

“This time, it’s like, OK, now, it’s over -over,” one of the insiders said.

Trans care restrictions force some families to travel hours, spend hundreds for treatment

More than 20 states have gender-affirming care restrictions.

Misty Stamm was working tirelessly to figure out the details: waking up early, the hourslong drives, booking hotels and finding doctors who could legally administer gender-affirming hormone therapy to her 16-year-old transgender daughter.

Stamm is living in one of the 24 states where legislation is restricting gender-affirming health care for transgender youth, so she and parents like her must make long, expensive trips out of their home states to find the care their children need, according to a new report from the Campaign for Southern Equality Research and Policy Center.

“If we didn't have the care, I don't think she'd be alive,” said Stamm.

Stamm, who lives in Tennessee, drove five hours to get her daughter to a gender clinic in Ohio when her family first started considering care options. She wanted her daughter to be seen by a physician in person.

With new gender-affirming care restrictions set to go into effect soon in Ohio, Stamm and her daughter have since turned to a telehealth provider in Virginia.

However, they still have to drive two hours to Virginia for the online appointment, as to not break Tennessee law, which also bans telehealth providers from providing care and treatments like puberty blockers and hormone therapies to a minor located in the state.

Stamm told ABC News that the time, effort and money they’re spending to access care is worth it.

When she came out as transgender at 13, “the mental health issues stopped completely,” said Stamm. “That affirmed to us that this was the right thing.”

Stamm's daughter had been in counseling and therapy since she was in fifth grade, struggling with her mental health and experiencing depression, anxiety and suicidal ideations.

PHOTO: In this Feb. 26, 2024, file photo, a woman and her daughter wave Pride flags from the East Balcony of the Tennessee House during debate of HB 1605, banning pride flags in Tennessee Public Schools, at the Tennessee State Capitol in Nashville, Tenn.

At age 14, Stamm's daughter received puberty blockers to temporarily pause the development of physical sex characteristics. As her daughter grew older, the family and physicians together decided to move forward with hormone therapy. Throughout this process, they said, psychologists and therapists were consulted and were required for approvals.

“There's no talk of surgery or anything like that,” said Stamm. “That's a decision that she can make when she is an adult.”

Meanwhile, her mental health has progressed exponentially – Stamm said her daughter has since been released by her therapist and is only seen occasionally, as needed.

"She's just doing so well, and if we didn't have access -- we have to have it. She has to have it."

Gas, airfare, lodging and other expenses to cross state lines and access gender-affirming care could cost hundreds to thousands of dollars, the Southern Equality report states.

Stamm says she and her husband have spent likely thousands of dollars in travel costs to get care and are anxiously awaiting the day their daughter turns 18 so she can access care more freely.

The report from Southern Equality Research and Policy Center found that it could take almost 20 hours of driving roundtrip for some families across the South and Midwest to reach a state where trans youth care is legally accessible.

Families with transgender children across southern Florida, Louisiana, Missouri and Texas are the hardest hit, according to the report -- they would need to take a more than eight-hour car ride one way to get to a clinic that serves trans youth.

For Jennifer, an Austin, Texas, resident who asked to go by a pseudonym for safety concerns, said the health care bans in her state threw her family into logistical and financial chaos.

Her 15-year-old daughter’s appointments to begin hormone therapy were canceled before the law in Texas even went into effect. When they sought out care in Louisiana, providers also were canceling appointments.

She sought out the help of local advocacy groups to help her family find a provider in Texas' neighbor to the west, New Mexico.

However, the costs continue to mount: “We are in a position that we could afford to buy plane tickets and stay in a hotel for a couple of nights and pay all of the out-of-pocket expenses for the medical care,” said Jennifer. “For a lot of people, that's probably not an option.”

Though telehealth has expanded opportunities for access to care, policies like those in Tennessee restrict these appointments for prescriptions from happening in the state and force some families like the Stamms to cross borders for online appointments.

PHOTO: Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee appears at an event on Feb. 29, 2024, in Nashville, Tenn.

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee, who signed the gender-affirming care ban , has defended the bill against legal challenges.

"Tennessee is committed to protecting children from permanent, life-altering decisions," said Lee in a post on social platform X after the Justice Department argued the law violates the Fourteenth Amendment's Equal Protection Clause.

Supporters of gender-affirming medical care bans argue that children should wait until they’re older to make these medical decisions, and that there needs to be more research on the impact of these procedures on patients.

In the state’s court filings in opposition to a lawsuit against the ban, the state invokes Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization – the decision which overturned Roe v. Wade and ended federal protections for abortion rights.

The state argues that Dobbs allows states “to regulate medical treatments” and that it does not discriminate against transgender people because “not all transgender individuals use puberty blockers, hormones, or surgery.”

“This Court should acknowledge divergent views and hold that the responsibility to choose between them rests with the people acting through their elected representatives,” read the state’s filing.

The Tennessee Legislature is now considering a bill that could make it a felony to help a minor access gender-affirming care out-of-state without parental consent.

MORE: Kansas governor vetoes gender-affirming trans youth care ban

PHOTO: In this Aug. 30, 2023, file photo, students protest against Katy ISD's new transgender policy outside the school district's educational support complex, in Katy, Texas.

Transgender care for people under 18 has been a source of contention for state politicians in recent years, impacting a group estimated to make up less than 1.5% of the population ages 13-17, according to an estimate from researchers at the University of California, Los Angeles .

Often due to discrimination, stigma, and gender-related stress, trans youth are at increased risk for poor mental health and suicide, substance use, experiencing violence, and other health risks, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Major national medical associations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and more than 20 others have argued that gender-affirming care is safe, effective and medically necessary.

“Allowing them to live in their identity is what saves their mental health,” Jennifer said in response to criticism over transgender medical care.

As families continue to seek out avenues for care, Jennifer and Stamm want lawmakers to know that they're just a "normal, regular family."

“I want them to see us as people,” Jennifer said. “We are their neighbors, we are people who teach their kids in school. We are people they work with.”

Stamm adds, "She's just a regular kid, just trying to be a regular kid. … This has just presented so many challenges for her and we feel isolated. Our circle is tight and small ... Hopefully, people will be a little bit more empathetic to what we're going through. And how ridiculous all of this is."

Visa Information for Nationals of Haiti

The Department of State has suspended visa services in Haiti

The information below outlines options Haitian nationals seeking U.S. visas may consider.

Immigrant Visas

Immigrant visas are for foreign nationals who intend to live and/or work permanently in the United States.  In most cases, a relative or employer sponsors the individual by filing a petition with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).  Further information on immigrant visas can be found here:  https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate.html .

The U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince has suspended routine immigrant visa appointments until further notice. Immigrant visa applicants who can travel to another U.S. embassy or consulate that processes immigrant visas and remain in that country for the duration of their visa processing should consider requesting the transfer of their case from U.S. Embassy Port-au-Prince using the instructions below:

If the case is at U.S. Embassy Port-au-Prince :   Applicants may contact a new U.S. embassy or consulate in writing to request the transfer of their immigrant visa case.  Applicants can find the contact information for Immigrant Visa Units at U.S. embassies and consulates at https://usembassy.gov/ .  The applicant should provide evidence, if possible, of their presence in the country to which they would like their case to be transferred, or documentation of their ability to enter and remain in that country for the duration of the immigrant visa process.

If the Case is Pending at the National Visa Center (NVC):   Applicants may contact NVC at https://nvc.state.gov/inquiry to request a transfer to another immigrant visa processing post.  Applicants should be prepared to provide evidence of the ability to enter and remain in the requested country for the duration of the process.

Applicants may also request NVC expedite their case at the new consular section by emailing [email protected] and providing the specific reason for their expedite request.  Please be aware expedited case processing does not apply to family preference visa categories where a case is not current.

The Department of State continues to communicate with U.S. adoptive families in the intercountry adoption process and adoption service providers regarding recent developments in Haiti, and we are assessing the situation as it unfolds.  The Department is responding to individual inquiries from Adoption Service Providers and prospective adoptive parents.

We are working as quickly as possible to identify options for continued case processing and assisted departure for Haitian children in the intercountry adoption process, while meeting U.S. laws, regulations, and our Hague  Convention obligations as well as minimizing the risk of Haitian children coming to the United States with no clear path to legal status .

We are also working with Haiti’s child welfare authority, the Institut du Bien-Être Social et de Recherches (IBESR), to assist Haitian adoptive children in obtaining exit permissions, while we work on solutions at other stages of the intercountry adoption process.

Prospective adoptive parents should remain in regular contact with their adoption service providers in the United States.

U.S. citizens who have adopted Haitian children through the domestic Haitian process (rather than an intercountry adoption) and have an appointment date from USCIS for an N-600K interview may apply for a B-1/B-2 visa for the child to attend the interview and naturalize.  This is appropriate only for children who do not intend to reside in the United States.  See Nonimmigrant Visas  below.

Nonimmigrant Visas

Most nonimmigrant visa categories require the applicant to demonstrate intent to leave the United States after a temporary stay .

The U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince has suspended routine nonimmigrant visa appointments until further notice.  T he U.S. Embassy in Port au Prince can only accept expedited nonimmigrant visa appointments for life-or-death medical emergencies (with proof of travel plans) or to facilitate travel for a child with a confirmed USCIS appointment for a naturalization interview based on a Form N-600K .  Applicants can submit a request for an expedited NIV appointment by following the instructions provided at https://www.ustraveldocs.com/ht/en/nonimmigrant-visa .

Nonimmigrant visa applicants may apply at any embassy or consulate where they are physically present and where appointments are available.  A full list of embassies and consulates is available here: https://www.usembassy.gov/ .  Appointment wait times are available at U.S. Visas (state.gov) .  Once an interview appointment is made, applicants can request an expedited appointment but must describe the unique circumstances that justify such a request.
