new tour pack mounting bracket

A buddy of mine made this bracket to move his tour pack forward so he can use it when riding by himself on long trips without having to use a solo seat. Its made of polished stainless and mounts with the normal docking hardware. what do you think?

ya but with the harley one you have to use a solo seat. i am looking for one that will fit over the passenger seat
why dont you use photobucket and post up a pic so the non paid members can see it and well as one that shows the bracket? Tim

Tour pack as a rider backrest?

A friend of mine buys and sells bikes. He came a cross the twin to my bike with a king tour pack. I have been looking to get a tour pack and this one is detachable. It has the lights and speakers already and matches my paint...so we made a deal and I bought the pack for a song. Here is my question...I ride with a Corbin solo seat and do not have a passenger seat for my setup yet. I considered buying the bracket to make it a solo tour pack. Have any of you done that and is it comfortable? Thanks for any help on this..
I know several peeps who have the backrest on the tour pak and solo seat , with the tour pak mounted for the rider backrest , I like it JtB

That's really cool...I just bought the solo mount on ebay though for $50 shipped. Can't beat that price with a stick. HD wanted about 150.

I've seen a couple setup this way and really like the looks.
I had my '04 EG capable of being set up for a solo rider backrest. Can't find any pics of my former ride to post, but it was very comfortable set up that way. It requires the four point docking hardware and the solo tour pak rack to achieve. I thought it looked pretty unique, too. Here is what they look like on an EG.

Wow that is what I was looking for. I will have to find something to plug the holes from the speakers and other style backrest? I guess that backrest is in the Harley book.

I have this set up for sale with quick disconnct for 150.00... this not for my tour pack just for mounting hardware and quick disconnect. Thx Guys
Are you talking about hanging it on the wall hardware? (tourpack) Maybe the 4 point docking stuff? One of the moderators will probably move this to the for sale area for you. Welcome from Idaho....

I prefer the HD adjustable gas operated back rest. Much more comfy on long trips for me. Good lumbar support. However I used to do something similar to what you are referring using a soft cooler for a back rest in front of the passenger back rest. It was OK for shorter trips.
The gas portion of that? Does it operate it front to back or just pump up the lumbar part. I am looking for something I can put in the back rest part (tour pack) and pump it up and dowm for the lumbar part?
Only forward and back adj I cut open back rest lower pad and stuffed it with peanut shipping styrofoam. Covered slit back up with black duct tape. Wife says much better. Or you can spend about 500 for the cvo lumbar back rest pump it up with turn of knob. Sent from Motorcycle.com Free App
It looks to me like the backrest pad would be in the middle of your back.....not down low where you might want it.
Ineed to talk to an upholstry shop and see what it costs to build me one. If not the CVO pne might be on the list.
