Apart from the numerous rooms, you will set your eyes on the glorious Golden Hall, venue of the annual Nobel Prize Dance. Next, proceed to Vasa Museum, where you will learn more about the Vasa – one of the best-preserved 17th century ship in the world and a unique art treasure. Stroll through the picturesque old town to admire its cluster of beautifully preserved old buildings and narrow streets which formed the city during the 16th to 18th centuries.

DAY 2: STOCKHOLM - KARLSTAD

Old Stone Bridge

Today, transfer to Karlstad for your overnight stay. Located on Vanern, Sweden’s largest lake, this city is home to the country’s 2nd-largest lake port. Make the stop at the old stone bridge, also known as Östra Bron, Sweden’s longest stone arch bridge with 168 metres and twelve spans.

DAY 3: KARLSTAD - OSLO - HAMAR

Oslofjord, City Hall, Akershus Fortress, Vigeland Sculpture Park

Bid farewell to Sweden as you cross over to Norway, a rugged and mysterious country with its landscape comprising vast swathes of blue glaciers, dramatic peaks and deep fjords. Continue your journey to Oslo, the capital city of Norway and embark on a city tour, starting from the Oslofjord and the City Hall. Make a photo stop at Akershus Fortress, a medieval castle located strategically at the tip of the headland, completed at the turn of the 13th century. Lastly, stroll along the iconic Vigeland Sculpture Park, consisting of more than 200 sculptures in bronze, granite and iron. Tonight, transfer to Hamar for your overnight stay.

DAY 4: HAMAR - ANDALSNES - TROLLSTIGEN - GEIRANGER

Eagle Road, Geirangerfjord, Trolls Path Viewpoint, Trollstigen

Today, enjoy a scenic drive along the famed Eagle Road, the steepest stretch of road up the mountain side from Geiranger towards Eidsdal. This fascinating road swings through 11 hairpin bends up from the Geirangerfjord and up to the highest point on the stretch, 620 metres above sea level at Korsmyra. Enroute, stop at the Trolls Path Viewpoint, where you can enjoy a magnificent view over the Trollstigen, a serpentine mountain road in the Rauma municipality. Head to Geiranger region for your overnight stay.

The Eagle Road, Trollstigen, and Trolls Path Viewpoint will only be accessible from end-May to October, depending on suitable road conditions due to the amount of snow and possible avalanche danger in the surrounding mountains. The opening date varies from year to year.

For groups departing in April to mid-May, Trollstigen and Trolls Path Viewpoint will be replaced with Trollveggen (Troll Wall).

DAY 5: GEIRANGER - SOGNEFJORD

Sognefjord, Briksdal

Today, make your journey towards the Sognefjord region, Norway’s longest and deepest fjord. Stop by Briksdal, if time and weather permits, you may wish to join an optional troll car excursion to Briksdal Glacier. Hop on to the unique troll cars which brings you to the stand about 700 metres away from the glacier. Here, you can enjoy a nice stroll to the glacier, into Jostedal Glacier National Park. Continue your journey through Fjaeland. Tonight, spend your night in a fjord hotel at Sognefjord region.

DAY 6: SOGNEFJORD - GUDVANGEN - FLAM - BERGEN

Naeroyfjord, Sognefjord, Tvindefossen

With its snow-clad summits juxtaposed against narrow alleys and dramatic waterfalls, let the gorgeous views make your hearts flutter. Next, journey on to fascinating Flam. If you are in the mood for more discovery, hop on board Flam Railway at your own expense, where the unforgettable journey between high mountains and the fjord makes for one scenic affair to remember. The very first buildings in Bergen were built by the harbour, and this area has for centuries been a lively and central part of the city. View Hakon’s Hall, the largest and most imposing building of the royal residency in the 13th-century, and do not forget to shop for fresh seafood at the popular Fish Market. Continue your day with a scenic drive through Hardangerfjord region, filled with beautiful waterfalls en-route. Stop by Voringsfossen, where you can enjoy an impressive sight of water dropping from the Hardangervidda plateau drop to the valley of Mabodalen. Continue your journey and cross over the Hardanger Bridge, Norway’s longest suspension bridge that links Bruravik to Brimnes. Tonight, transfer to Ål for your overnight stay.

DAY 8: ÅL - OSLO - COPENHAGEN

The sculpture has been set on a rock just off the shore since 1913 and is inspired by one of Hans Christian Anderson’s fairytales. See also the magnificent Gefion Fountain, the largest monument in Copenhagen and used by many as a wishing well. Drive around Nyhavn which means new harbour, one of the most famous entertainment streets in Copenhagen. Note If Amalienborg Palace is closed, it will be replaced with a visit to Rosenborg Palace.

7 nights 10 Days Finland Trip by Chan Brothers Travel Singapore

Before I proceed,I want all who reads this to know that I am representing my friends too in this review about our recent 10 day tour to Finland. The main attraction of the trip was to see the Northern Lights. However, we didn’t get to see the lights even on a night that has an index of 6 with 80% chances of seeing the lights. This is because Chan brothers travel did not mention or have no idea that there are local Aurora hunting trips or some call it Northern lights hunting trip which only costs a mere 45euro which we would definitely have joined because that’s the highlight of the trip after paying so much! Chan brother provided a Northern light hunting that only lasts for 2 hours which ended at 11 because that’s when the coach driver’s work ends which we understood and accept. All those that had experienced seeing the lights says that it usually appears past midnight. But because we had no idea of the optional local tour, we went back the hotel at 11pm. And true enough many that were in Rovaniemi that night saw the Aurora Lights at about 1 plus while we slept the night away like fools! I only found out about the local hunting trips at the reception the next morning after chatting with the receptionists because they were excited thinking we saw the lights! And the other activities which we were very unhappy was the reindeer-sleigh rides, husky rides and snow biking which were part of the highlights and was also the reason why Chan Brothers cost more than Dynasty Travel. It was very unfair and unacceptable because knowing the short daylight in Finland at this time of the year, we should be able to have at least one or two of the activities early so that we can see the forest that the huskies and reindeers was driving us thru. Instead, we had all the three main activities passed 3pm in absolute darkness!!! It was no difference to riding a underground MRT or a bus in the night to Genting!!! Everyone complained about that. Many of us asked the guide and she said the company arranged it! What lousy and unfair arrangement!!! My friends who went with EU tours had all their activities in the day! I must say that Chan Brothers is lucky that this particular group of tourists was all educated and well mannered people, however if I would to ask around today and offer a petition I think more than half would agree with what I have written here on this page because this was truly what happened. I paid S$5000 plus per pax this trip all I got was to see the snow which I should have gone to Hokkaido and only one little good experience was the one night stay in the glass igloo. But mind you every travel agency can arrange that. So think and find out clearly so you don’t have any regrets like me and my friends before you pick and book a tour with a travel agency! Please note that the guide was not all fault, in fact when one of my friend fell and fractured her wrist, she took some time to go to the local hospital with us. I am just so pissed off when my friends asked me why I missed the lights? Why my activities are all in darkness!!! Why why why!!!! Chan Brothers why??? Chris Lee

Good day! I have read your review and feel sorry that you had a negative experience in Finland. However, would you kindly email me your name and dates of the tour, because I am not believe that we have arranged the tour for Chan Brothers on this occasion. If you can send me your dates of travel, group size etc - I can clarify if we operated at the DMC for your tour. Many thanks, Sarah Managing Director

Tomas provided us with an incredible visit to Finland. He drove us through the countryside, showed us where he lived and told us about the rural life in Finland. We had a great visit at the quaint little town of Porvoo. We went back to Helsinki where we had a fresh lunch at the fishmarket and did some sight seeing and shopping. Tomas was very accommodating and made sure we saw everything we could in the amount of time we had. We had lots of great conversations about the effects of global warming in this area and he showed us much more than expected. Thanks for a great visit!!! Highly recommended!

The experience was one of the best things I have ever done ! It was perfect from the beginning of the day being picked up at our apartment by our friendly driver. We took a 45 minute journey outside Helsinki through a snowy wonder land . Where we taken to a frozen lake to meet the beautiful huskies and their owner. We helped with the dogs on to sledge and my partner and I were taken across a frozen lake and through woodland. The dogs were manificant our guide told us all their names. We went out to a wooded area were we had camp fire sausages marshmallow s and tea. It was a magical experience and well organised thank you to all the wonderful people we met that day xx

We did a Husky sleigh ride tour organized by Kontiki. We got a great preparation from the booking. Plus they really took care of all our wishes and provided us with a great transportation to the national park outside of Helsinki. Needless to say that the husky tour itself was a unique and amazing experience and one of the highlights of our winter trip to Helsinki. If you are around Helsinki and are keen on enjoying something special, we really recommend you to take a look on the offerings. The team is really among the best we have experienced so far!

Thank you for your kind review of our Day Tour! We are very pleased that your day went smoothly and so nice to hear that you recommend us to others! Welcome again any time :)

We used Kontiki Finland to book the Husky Dog Sledding in Helsinki - we were picked up from our hotel right on time by the lovely and friendly taxi driver. He drove us approx. 45 mins to the national park where we met with Tomas who introduced us to the Huskys. This was by far the best thing I have ever done, it was so much fun spending time with the friendly dogs and learning about the sledding. The actual sledding itself went for about 45 minutes through the national park and at the end we had plenty of time with photos with the dogs and time to drink our coffee and eat marshmellows by the fire.

Hi Laura, Thank you for writing! We are so glad that you had a great time last week - the conditions have been really picture perfect as well this year :) All the best for your future travels!

I had a wonderful experience working with Kontiki tours. Tomas ensured that it was an unforgettable day as he took care of every aspect of the dog sledding excursion. I was particularly impressed with the personal touches and attention to detail. I would highly recommend anyone traveling to Helsinki and looking for a fun half-day trip, to work with Kontiki and enjoy one of its excursions.

Thanks for sharing your experience - we really do try to make every guest feel looked after and glad to know that it's working :) All the best!

Discover central and eastern europe on a luxurious danube river winter cruise, chan brothers travel danube river chartered cruise packages return for the 12th year, allowing travellers to explore ancient towns steeped in culture and history from a vantage point.

chan brothers scandinavia tour

Flowing through 10 countries in central and eastern Europe, the meandering Danube River has witnessed the rise and fall of empires through the ages. As you cruise down the waterway, the second longest in Europe, you will see historic riverside towns, cathedrals and castles dating back to the medieval period.

From the Hungarian Magyars, who occupied the middle basin of the Danube River in the late 9th century, the Bavarians in Germany to the Slavs in Czech Republic, you will get to learn more about these forgotten tribes whose ways of life and traditions continued to influence many parts of Europe till this day.

Two upcoming Danube River Winter Cruise packages offered by Chan Brothers Travel offer a rare opportunity to travel back in time to experience an electrifying mix of opulent Baroque era architecture, old-world cultures, diverse cuisines and more - while not missing out on modern-day comforts on board a luxurious cruise ship.

Many historic towns not commonly featured in land tours are easily accessible from the piers along Danube River, including Melk, Passau and Regensburg. The time saved on travelling, compared to coach tours, translates into more time for sight-seeing, shopping and dining.

The 10D7N Enchanting Danube River Winter Cruise sets sail on Nov 27, taking travellers to seven destinations, many of which are exclusive to river cruise travellers.

The 12D10N Magical Danube River Winter Cruise sets sail on Dec 7 and takes travellers to nine stops, including the exotic Czech Republic, formerly part of Czechoslovakia, and Prague.

Classic European style, modern-day comforts

Before starting the river cruise, travellers can be assured of a good rest upon arrival in Budapest: They would be flying to Europe on day flights and enjoying a night's rest in the business and cultural centre of Hungary.

The next morning will be spent exploring the attractions of Budapest before driving to Vienna to board a specially chartered cruise ship. The ship will set sail nightly, after travellers board the ship; cruising along Danube River to a new city while the passengers are resting each night. When the sun rises each morning, a new destination on the holiday itinerary awaits to be discovered. No time will be wasted on travelling from city to city.

The first stop is Melk where you can take a stroll down the cobblestone streets of the ancient town, which is part of UNESCO-listed Wachau Valley in Austria, as you make your way to the Melk Abbey, which was first established in the 11th century and rebuilt in the 18th century. Once inside the spectacular abbey, close your eyes and soak in the air of serenity at one of the world's most renowned spiritual centres. Behold the opulent Baroque style of architecture, and the eight pounds of gold used to adorn some of the statues and altars.

Next on the itinerary is the German town of Passau, where you can sink your teeth into Gingerbread Man as the smell of spices used to make this traditional holiday treat wafts through the air. Formerly part of the Roman empire, Passau is said to be home to the country's oldest gingerbread recipe. It is also home to the magnificent St. Stephen's Cathedral which houses the largest pipe organ in Europe.

After Passau, sail down the river to reach the Bavarian city of Regensburg where the 12th century Stone Bridge still stands. It was built across the Danube to link the Old Town of Regensburg and the island of Stadtamhof in the 12th century.

Touted as a construction masterpiece during the medieval ages, the bridge has 16 arches and became a model for other European stone bridges built in the 12th and 13th centuries.

Travel to a dark period in modern history when the cruise ship docks at the historic German town of Nuremberg. Explore Nazi party rally grounds and learn what happened during the Third Reich and the infamous Nuremberg war trials that took place after World War II.

Guests who sign up for the 12D10N Magical Danube River Winter Cruise in December can look forward to additional treats: Year-end Christmas markets in Germany.

The 12-day tour will take them to Cesky Krumlov, whose ancient city centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Karlovy Vary, a spa town situated in western Bohemia, and Prague, home to the largest ancient castle in the world and more.

Perks of cruising

Here are more reasons why cruising the Danube River with Chan Brothers Travel is not to be missed.

Chan Brothers Travel has a wealth of experience and solid track record in chartering Danube River cruises, and this year marks its 12th year doing so. The company has amassed more than 1,000 five-star ratings from its customers for its Danube River cruises.

The 10D7N Enchanting Danube River Winter Cruise package covers one night of accommodation at a five-star hotel in Budapest and six nights on board a luxury cruise ship.

The 12D10N Magical Danube River Winter Cruise package covers one night of accommodation at a five-star hotel in Budapest, six nights on board the cruise, one night at a spa hotel in Karlovy Vary and two nights at a five-star hotel in Prague.

For each cruise package, the entire MS Amadeus Queen will be chartered exclusively for Chan Brothers Travel's guests.

With MS Amadeus Queen as your palatial hotel for six nights, there is no need to pack and unpack your luggage as you would for a land-based tour.

chan brothers scandinavia tour

Upon boarding the cruise, passengers' passports will be collected so that custom procedures can be entrusted to the crew. Custom procedures are relatively hassle-free when crossing borders as compared to a road trip, and these leave more time for sightseeing or shopping at each port of call.

When the cruise ship arrives at a different port each morning, travellers can embark right away on daily guided excursions specially curated for them. All guided land excursions are inclusive in the packages at no extra cost.

A floating hotel

The cruise ship travel experience epitomises the concept of "the finest hospitality afloat": The moment you are on board, you can expect a service level that is on a par with that of a luxury hotel, complete with personalised touches to ensure a comfortable stay right from the beginning.

All of MS Amadeus Queen's 69 staterooms and 12 suites offer panoramic window views, while the suites afford balcony vantage points. No detail is too small to be overlooked - fine fabrics, traditional craftsmanship of the décor and tasteful hues at every turn of the cabins, lounges, halls and decks.

chan brothers scandinavia tour

Holidays are all about choice and a cruise experience allows you to pick and choose what you fancy. There is absolute freedom of movement onboard and you can choose how little or how much you wish to do. You can idle in the lounge, revel in evening entertaining or rev up each day with morning aerobics on the deck.

MS Amadeus Queen will take the cruise dining experience to the new level: Breakfast is buffet style while both daily lunch and dinner are fine dining. Each dining table has a dedicated waiter so that all passengers are well taken care of. There are vegetarian options too.

Book your next Europe travel escapade with Chan Brothers Travel. Go with the flow of Danube River and see Europe in a new light.

We had good hotel locations n the tour manager was not bad.

Hi, has anyone taken EU HOlidays' Northern Lights tours? Can you share your experiences, good bad and ugly? There are a number of Singapore travel agencies offering Northern Lights tours, but it seems the reviews for LGE Travel are the worst. Can anyone recommend any reliable and good travel agencies for NL tours? Thanks!

Hi there , may I know which package you book under Chan Brother .. I jus book one ytd , wondering if I am booking the same tour package as yours ... 😔

I haven't booked anything. Not sure which agency to trust for northern lights tour. No one can guarantee we will see northern lights of course, but the reviews I read about LGE Travel are really very very bad. which makes me wonder about all the other agencies as well that offer Northern Lights tours. Has anyone taken NL tour with the socalled reputable agencies like Chan Brothers or EU holidays or others? Need good advice

Dear reader,

I would like to give an honest opinion for you to not regret spending your hard earn money away.

Very poorly organized tour. Not worth the money at all. $4000 per pax, but there is no tour guide, just merely a tour leader to handle administration stuff. Hence no explanations of local culture or guide at all.

On top of that, my tour was met with unforeseen bad weather. The entire arrangements were handled unprofessionally. The tour leader simply state “too bad, bad weather, therefore all is cancelled”. That’s all...allow me to repeat again, that’s all!! Paid $4,000 just to take 8 hours of bus rides...

Might as well stay in Singapore and take a SBS bus from interchange to interchange...fml

Best advice for anyone considering LGE travel - keep your money and stay away from the company. Period.

Those who wish to go on this tour package have to be prepared to walk distances of between 300 meters to a kilometer often, because often buses have no places to stop legally, near the restaurants and places to visit. Have to wear very comfortable walking shoes.

German pork knuckle

A crisp pork knuckle pairs perfectly with an ice-cold beer — and where better to get your fix of malt beers than in the city of Bamberg in Franconia? Sip on (or gulp, if you wish) Bamberg’s famous smoked beer — malted barley is dried over an open flame to achieve its dark hue and distinctive smoky flavour.

Carb lovers will also appreciate munching on maultaschen , or German ravioli. Originally found in the region of Swabia, the hearty dish is accentuated with various herbs and spices for an explosion of flavours with every bite.

Hard Rock Cafe , another pitstop on the tour, probably needs no introduction. The famous American-owned brand combines the best of rock-and-roll, music memorabilia and American-style diner fare. If there is one F&B entertainment venue that represents America’s enduring mix of music memorabilia, hospitality experience and rock relics, it’s Hard Rock Cafe.

Also, you can’t say you’ve been to Canada without trying its iconic ice wine — it’s the world’s largest producer of the indulgent dessert wine after all. Made from grapes frozen while still on the vine, it’s often referred to as "liquid gold", and is best enjoyed with dessert or as a sweet conclusion to the end of a meal.

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Coffee Ring

The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.

Zodiac Metro

According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.

Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.

Paleontological finds

Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!

  • Every day each car in  Moscow metro passes  more than 600 km, which is the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
  • Moscow subway system is the  5th in the intensity  of use (after the subways of Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai).
