Stryper was awesome to see again. It was my fourth time seeing them and they did not let me down. Michael Sweet was on fire both with his vocals and the crowd. His brother Robert is a monster on the drums and a joy to watch. The "new" guy Perry Richardson is a perfect fit for this band with his outstanding bass playing and long locks of blonde hair. Sir Oz Fox was as always perfect in his guitar works and looked very happy to be playing. The whole band seemed to be happy to be there playing all their hits and new stuff. I'm so glad they played Sorry in the set. I thought the show was very successful.

Totally awesome, love these guys! They rocked 17 full songs without hardly a break.

All the great songs from the early albums (none from The Yellow and Black Attack) like To Hell With the Devil, Soldiers Under Command, and In God We Trust.

Oz Fox back with the band after being in the hospital. The band played great at The Music Box in San Diego. Inspiring and faithful to God and His word!

STRYPER Announces Spring 2023 U.S. Tour Dates

stryper tour 2023 merchandise

Legendary Christian rockers STRYPER have announced nearly dozen U.S. tour dates for this spring. The shows will kick off on March 30 in New Bedford, Massachusetts and run through June 7 in Tempe, Arizona.

STRYPER Tour dates:

March 30 – The Vault Music Hall – New Bedford, MA March 31 – The Chance Theater – Poughkeepsie, NY April 01 – Del lago Casino – Waterloo, NY April 13 – H-E-B Center at Cedar Park – Cedar Park, TX April 14 – Arlington Hall – Arlington, TX April 15 – RISE Rooftop – Houston, TX April 29 – Monsters of Rock Cruise 2023 – Miami, FL May 10 – Mercury Ballroom – Louisville, KY May 11 – MGM Northfield Park – Northfield, OH May 12 – BMI Event Center – Versailles, OH May 13 – The Token Lounge – Westland, MI May 16 – Eagles Theatre – Wabash, IN May 17 – The Vixen – McHenry, IL May 19 – Crystal Grand Music Theatre – Wisconsin Dells, WI May 21 – The Royal Grove – Lincoln, NE May 26 – The Newberry – Great Falls, MT May 31 – Bossanova Ballroom – Portland, OR June 03 – Yost Theater – Santa Ana, CA June 04 – House of Blues San Diego – San Diego, CA June 06 – Whisky A Go Go – West Hollywood, CA June 07 – Marquee Theatre – Tempe, AZ

Last summer, STRYPER postponed most of its previously announced U.S. shows to 2023 for “economic” and “other reasons.” At the time, the band issued a statement saying that “there were some economic cards stacked against us. Anyone in the music business will tell you about the Tour Bus and Labor shortage out there,” STRYPER explained. “We’re feeling it first hand. The Tour Bus business is like the housing market right now with 10 times more bands trying to rent buses than are available. And you’ve seen the cost of gas lately. When you’re putting 10,000+ miles on a bus, as we were planning to do, gas prices absolutely matter for a tour like ours. There are some other issues at hand as well that played a part in our decision to postpone the tour.”

STRYPER ‘s new studio album, “The Final Battle” , was released last October via Frontiers Music Srl . The follow-up to 2020’s “Even The Devil Believes” was produced by vocalist/guitarist Michael Sweet and was once again recorded at SpiritHouse Recording Studios in Northampton, Massachusetts.   “The Final Battle” is available on CD, 2xLP, and Digital formats, with multiple limited edition color variants of the LP available, along with exclusive merch drops. Order it HERE .

“The Final Battle” was crafted during the most challenging time of the band’s career. But rather than let the adversity get them down, the band accepted these challenges and channeled it into writing some of the greatest songs of their storied career. One of those great songs is the band’s latest single “Transgressor” off of “The Final Battle” . When asked about this new single STRYPER front man Michael Sweet said, “Transgressor is a ride like no other. You take off at 100 MPH and it doesn’t let up until the very last note. It’s definitely one of our heaviest songs yet we wanted to incorporate melody and structure. We’re really excited about this one and we can’t wait to perform it live!”

When it comes to groundbreaking bands in the metal genre,  STRYPER is renowned for their distinctive brand of “heavenly metal,” extraordinary crossover success, and venerable endurance. The group ascended to prominence in the 1980s with Billboard Top 40 hits like “Calling on You,” “Honestly,” and “Always There for You” and has maintained a global fan base since. STRYPER ’s career album sales exceed 10 million worldwide, including 1986’s multi-platinum release “To Hell with the Devil.” The band also made history when it notched two songs simultaneously on MTV’s Top 10 with videos “Free” and “Honestly.” While STRYPER is known for their Christian faith, their decades plus career in heavy metal has made them much more than just a ‘Christian metal’ band. Sure, that is part of who they are, but at the end of the day, they are simply a long-running and well respected heavy metal band with a late-career rebirth that has proved their enduring talent and musical skills are well intact.

Today, some 37+ years after emerging from the southern California nightclub scene, STRYPER continues to record, tour and perform for loyal fans around the globe. With three original members including brothers Michael Sweet (lead vocals, guitar) and Robert Swee t (drums), Oz Fox (guitar) and newest band-mate, seasoned bassist Perry Richardson (formerly of Firehouse ), the group finds itself creating their finest, most powerful music yet. Stay tuned to STRYPER ’s socials below for updates on the release of more singles in the buildup to the release of The Final Battle as well as upcoming tour dates from the legendary metal group.

In December, Sweet stated about the musical direction of STRYPER ‘s new material: “Lots of riffs, grooves, up tempo and mid tempo and everything has a great feel to it. I’ve only sent music to the guys so they haven’t heard any melodies yet but the melodies are strong and powerful. It’s always a little strange talking about your own music but I can say that I’m really excited about the direction of this album! I know you will be too. We’ve tuned down to D so the tuning makes it all sound a little fatter and heavier. There are a few songs with the low E string dropped down another step (C) so those songs have a bit more meat and potato’s as well;-) There are a few ballads but they’re not your typical ‘piano’ or ‘acoustic’ ballads. They’re heavy as well and definitely guitar driven. Even though there have been obstacles along the way, this album really has shaped up to be an amazing piece of work,”

After being on a hiatus for much of the ’90s,  STRYPER  returned stronger than ever in the early 21st century. Musically, the band has progressed and grown their fan base steadily and continuously, being one of the few “classic” metal bands of the ’80s that managed to keep themselves front and center thanks to the consistency of their musical output.

Michael  is joined in  STRYPER  by his brother  Robert Sweet  (drums),  Oz Fox  (guitars) and  Perry Richardson  (bass).

Last March,  STRYPER  and  Frontiers Music Srl announced that they have extended their working relationship for the release of more new studio albums together.  STRYPER  and  Frontiers  originally joined forces in 2013 for the release of  “Second Coming” , an album comprised of new recordings of 14 songs from the band’s early years, as well as two brand new songs. What followed has been a string of critically and commercially successful studio albums, including  “No More Hell To Pay”  (2013),  “Fallen”  (2015),  “God Damn Evil”  (2018) and  “Even The Devil Believes”  (2020). Additionally, a live album and long-form video,  “Live At The Whisky”  (2014) was made available. Every one of the albums released on Frontiers in the past eight years has successfully charted on the Billboard 200 chart and topped the Hot 100, Rock, Hard Rock, Current and Christian Music album charts.

STRYPER 's albums include "To Hell With The Devil" , "Second Coming" , "No More Hell To Pay" , "Fallen" , "God Damn Evil" and the aforementioned "Even The Devil Believes" and "The Final Battle" .

When it comes to groundbreaking bands in the Christian hard-rock genre, STRYPER is renowned for its distinctive brand of “heavenly metal,” extraordinary crossover success, with both Grammy nominations and Dove Awards to their name, and their venerable endurance. In 2023, the band celebrate their fortieth anniversary and do so on the back of both consistent touring and consistent album releases with their latest release The Final Battle receiving rave reviews the world over. The band last visited Australia in 2018 and were forced to play as a trio due to Oz Fox falling ill ahead of the tour, giving fans a unique opportunity to see the band in a different and unique format. Fans are in for a real treat with one of the world’s most consistent and loved hard rock/heavy metal groups. Michael Sweet talks to Hi Fi Way about the tour.

It must be great to be back on tour in Australia again? It’s always an honour to get back to Australia. We’ve been coming since the eighties and the fact that people still want to hear from us and see us, it’s astonishing and humbling, and we’re grateful to be coming back again.

Do you remember the last Australian tour back in 2018? Oh yeah. I still look back on that and I think over the fact that we came there as a trio and it’s, it’s a scary thought because we weren’t prepared by any means to come as a trio, but we had no choice. It was really incredibly pleasant and so nice of the fans, the Australian fans, to support the band and how we were having to come and perform. The shows were great, different but great and the reviews were great and everybody was so kind. It was amazing.

Is this tour focused mostly on The Final Battle or are you going way back in to the back catalogue? Yeah, we’re doing more of the back catalogue. We’re throwing some newer songs in there, but, you know, for the most part it’s classic stuff. Trying to give people what they want to hear with our huge catalogue and it gets tougher and tougher with each album we release. It’s very hard to put together a set and fit it all into a short amount of time. We’re doing about twenty one songs, so it’s a good long set. I think everybody’s going to get to hear what they want to hear, I hope. It’s going to be a blast. It’s going to be incredible.

Congratulations on fortieth anniversary, can you kind of believe how fast the time has gone? I can’t believe it. I look back and I think about where did the past forty years go and it just seems like a blur. It’s almost as if it’s moving faster as time progresses. It’s one of those feelings, it’s a bittersweet feeling, it’s good and bad. It’s like you look back on everything that was accomplished and that’s the good, the bad is all the time’s gone and you know that the clock is ticking and we’re all getting older and who knows how much time is left and all that stuff. It’s just really interesting, but that’s the way it works for all of us and that’s the way the world rotates and we’re thankful to still be doing what we do at the level that we’re doing it at.

For forty years do you get a gold watch to commemorate the milestone? If we do get a gold watch, just make it a Rolex! We will definitely plan something out, the forty year mark is now, this year when we formed. The official forty year is next year when we release The Yellow And Black Attack in 1984 will be in 2024. So that’s the year! So next year is going to be a big year. We’re going to plan out a lot of the fortieth anniversary stuff. It’s going to be incredible. We’re really excited about it. I’m sure multiple tours worldwide. It’d be great to get back to Australia and it’d be great to get to Europe. We haven’t been to Europe since 2010, so we’ve got a lot to do for sure.

Do you get nostalgic when you look back over your career and what moments stand out for you? Absolutely, I mean there’s so many great memories over the years when you think about it, life is a blur and as you’re moving along at a hundred miles an hour, you tend to put those memories on a shelf and then you pull them off the shelf when you have a moment in time to do so. But as you get older, I think you do reflect on those memories even more so versus when you were young. I know I do, I look back on times that the band has shared touring and going to different places all over the world and the things we did specifically going here or there. Remember that moment and here’s that picture. Oh gosh, yeah, I remember that. Then we started talking about it and telling stories. So there’s so many great memories that we hold onto and that we have collected that we’re so very proud of. Amazing.

Is that the sort of thing that you would write in a book documenting your career? There’s no doubt about it. I did write a book on my life, my story that took us from the beginning to roughly 2009 or 2010 more so. So there’s still a lot more to talk about between 2010 and 2023. A Stryper book would be great. There’s so much to share, some funny stories, some sad stories, some great stories, some not so great stories. Ups and downs, good and bad, but very interesting. Stryper has done a lot and we’re the underdogs, we’re the band that really shouldn’t have done all that we did because we were going against the grain and against the tide our entire career. So it’s very interesting how things have worked out for us.

If you had your time over, is there anything that you would’ve done differently or are you very much a believer that things happened for a reason? I’m one of those guys that things happen for a reason. I mean, there might be a few regrets I’ve had in life that I, if I could go back in a time machine I wouldn’t have done or I would do over, but not a lot. I’ve had a really great life, I’ve seen so much and accomplished so much and been a part of so much in such a great way. So I really don’t have any regrets.

Forty years strong and still being creative and releasing new music is a massive accomplishment? For sure. There’s no question about it. Stryper, obviously we just released our fourteenth studio album, but then you add to that all the solo albums I’ve released. I’ve released, believe it or not, ten solo albums and I’ve got two more coming, one’s in the can and the other is halfway done, so that’ll be twelve solo albums. Then I’ve got a third Sweet & Lynch album coming. There’s three more. I’ve got another Iconic album coming and I’ve got this project with Tracii Guns. So when you add everything up, I’m very blessed to been a part of everything I’ve been a part of and there’s still more to come. If I’m still living and I’m healthy Lord willing and the Lord keeps me here on this Earth long enough, I’m going to keep making music and hopefully turning out two, three, four albums every year till I can’t do it anymore.

When you’re writing songs, do they naturally gravitate to Stryper or any other band or project? Not really. As a writer, I just write in my style and what comes from my heart. I write all this stuff for Stryper. So when I write a solo album and people say, oh, this sounds like Stryper, it’s like, well, yeah, , it’s going to, it’s kind of hard to escape that, that’s what I do. I do try to make it a little different. The solo albums are a little different. I do stretch out a little bit more and I’ll do songs that might not be fitting for Stryper. On one of my solo albums, I did one song called Coming Home , it’s a little more country, had a little country flare to it, or maybe one that’s got a little blues flare to it, I have one that’s a little bit more symphonic, just with an orchestra and a voice. I like doing things like that, stretching out a little bit. Things that I might not be able to do with Stryper.

Is there anything that you haven’t done musically yet that you’re looking to try? The one thing I’ve always wanted to do is break out a little bit more as a writer. You know, write for other people. That’s really my love. In terms of my gifts, I put that at the top of the list. I’m a singer, I’m a guitar player, I’m a producer and all that stuff. Being a writer is probably what I enjoy the most. It would be really great to write for other people and hear one of my songs on the radio, maybe sung by a big artist, completely different style because I write all different types of music. I write metal, I write pop, I write country, you name it.

Do you think this is probably the most fulfilled you’re being creatively? It’s kind of been like that the whole way through my career, but lately I’m even more excited about music and I’m grateful that I’m still able to do it. I guess with that comes more excitement. I get really excited about any project. When it’s time to start on that project, it’s like, oh yeah, let’s do it. It’s like going to the candy shop as a kid with a dollar in your pocket, when I was a young kid, my mum would give me a dollar and it was like Christmas. That’s how it feels whenever I work on an album,

What do you look forward to most about touring Australia? Well, I always look coming back to Australia because they have fond memories. People there have always been so supportive and stood by us, uh, going all the way back to the eighties and here we are in 2023, still coming back and people still want to come out and support us and hear us, buy the tickets and buy the records. It blows my mind. It really does. So, it’s always so exciting to get back to Australia and to see all the Australian fans, which we don’t see often enough. We get there every three, four, five, six years if that. I wish we could come every year. Maybe things will change. It’s very difficult to tour because of the economy and the cost. Our plane tickets alone, to get there for nine people are like $25,000, it’s just really expensive. It makes it almost impossible to do.

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Coffee Ring

The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.

Zodiac Metro

According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.

Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.

Paleontological finds

Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!

  • Every day each car in  Moscow metro passes  more than 600 km, which is the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
  • Moscow subway system is the  5th in the intensity  of use (after the subways of Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai).

Moscow metro tour: architectural styles of the subway.

stryper tour 2023 merchandise

Duration: 2 hours

Categories: Culture & History, Sightseeing

This metro tour of Russia’s capital and most populous city, Moscow, is your chance to get a unique insight into the beautiful and impressive architecture of the city's underground stations. Admire their marble walls and high ceilings representing Stalin's desire for glory after World War 2, and see first-hand how the interiors change with the rise of new political eras. Your guide will lead you through the complex network, which is one of the most heavily used rapid transit systems worldwide, with over two billion travelers in 2011.

Opened in 1935, Moscow’s underground system, now 190 miles (305 km) long with 185 stations, is today one the largest and most heavily used rapid transit systems in the world. On this Moscow metro tour, discover the impressive architecture of Moscow’s underground stations and learn how they reflect the Soviet era.

Getting around by metro, your local guide will take you through parts of Moscow’s infamous history. Stop at stations built during the time of the USSR (Soviet Union) that are praised as one of the most extravagant architectural projects from Stalin’s time. After World War 2, he was keen on establishing Stalinist architecture to represent his rising regime and a recognized empire. Learn how when his successor started the de-Stalinization of the former Soviet Union in 1953, the extravagancy of the architecture was toned down.

Discover how the unique character of each station reflected several different eras. While stations like Kievskaya and Slavyansky Bulvar have pompous halls and high stucco ceilings brimming with extravagant decorations, those built later, like Volzhskaya, are lightly adorned with sparse furnishings. Architect Alexey Dushkin and painter Alexander Deyneka were just two of the many artists who made these magnificent landmarks possible.

Revel in Moscow's glory days, as well as the years of scarcity, on this fascinating Moscow metro experience. Conclude your tour at one of the central stations in Moscow. If you're lucky, you may even find the secret entrance to the unconfirmed Metro-2, a parallel underground system used by the government -- a mystery which has neither been denied nor confirmed today.

Culture Shock Rating

We have a wide range of tours designed to give you an insight into the destination you're travelling in and there is something for everybody. The culture shock ratings considers the destination visited, transport used, activities undertaken and that "Wow, I'm really not at home now!" factor. While generalisations are always tricky, a summary of our gradings is as follows…

This is the least confronting of our tour range. Transport used on the trip is either private or a very comfortable public option, the activities included are usually iconic sites and locations that are not all too confronting.

The tour can include a mix of private and public transport providing a level of comfort that is slightly below what you would experience at home. Sites visited are usually iconic sites, tours can also include market visits, visits to communities etc that provide the traveller with a fantastic insight into destination.

Expect to rough it for parts of this tour, whether it's a packed public bus where you are forced to stand, a visit to a local market, a local community, you are sure to have an experience that is very different from what you're used to at home.

The comforts of your home town and the environment you are used to are more of a rarity. Expect some challenging transport options, visits to local sites and areas that don't resemble anything at home.

You're out there in the global community! You are likely to be exposed to the elements, travel in whatever means of transport is available and basically take it as it comes, whatever comes! It can be tough.

Physical Rating

Our physical rating gives you an idea of how much huffing and puffing you can expect on the tour. While generalisations are always tricky, a summary of our gradings is as follows…

These tours have very limited physical activity. Usually climbing in and out of the transport provided, walking through sites, markets etc included in the itinerary.

These tours have a bit of physical activity but nothing that should challenge you too much. This could be climbing on and off public transport through to a walk through the destination you're travelling in, they can include walking only tours or a combination of walking and transport.

These tours involve a bit of physical activity from walking up and down hills in the destination you're travelling in or the surrounding areas. Climbing on and off local transport or riding a bike up to 30 kms along predominantly flat terrain or jumping in a kayak for a gentle paddle on flat water.

These Tours will provide you with some solid physical activity. Whether its bike riding, walking, trekking, kayaking or riding on public transport you will need to have a good level of fitness to enjoy this tour.

Be prepared for some serious physical activity. These tours are our most challenging and involve some serious walking, hiking or bike riding. Can involve step climbs by foot or pedal and some challenging public transport options in the destination you are travelling.

Luxury Rating

Some trips are like a stroll on the beach, while others have you trekking alpine passes. Some of you thrive on camping out on the savannah, while others may prefer a hot shower and a comfortable bed in a lodge. Follow the grading systems below to find the right trip for you.

To help you choose the trip that's right for you, we've broken all of our trips down into four service levels. Measuring the comfort level of the accommodation and transport. So whether you're travelling on a budget and want to save money by using public transport, or prefer upgraded accommodation and are happy to pay a little more, then we have a level for you.
