Jeram Enggang and Jeram Tiga Lapis, Jelebu, Negeri Sembilan Waterfalls

Jeram Enggang & Jeram Tiga Lapis | Waterfalls in Jelebu, Negeri Sembilan

On 14th November 2021, I joined  Trailblazer Hiking Club Malaysia  for a trip, organized by Kelvin, to Jelebu, Negeri Sembilan. Our hiking trip consisted of visiting Jeram Enggang and Jeram Tiga Lapis, and also to explore multiple tiers of waterfalls along the river.

Permits & Fees

Forestry permits (RM5 per person) have to be obtained 2 weeks beforehand from Pejabat Renjer Hutan Daerah Jelebu, Kuala Klawang. You can also walk in as well during weekdays before the hike, but please give them a call beforehand.

Other than the forestry permit, you will need to get permission from the land owner, Tok Batin Along Buah, who maintains the area. The four-wheel drive transportation, entrance fee and guide fees would be RM20 per pax. You can send him a WhatsApp message or call him at this number:  +6011-1510 6772

Starting Point for Jeram Enggang and Jeram Tiga Lapis

Jeram Enggang and Jeram Tiga Lapis Starting Point

To reach Jeram Enggang and Jeram Tiga Lapis, you need to take a four-wheel drive or lorry from  Balai Raya Kampung Ulu Jelebu  (you can park your vehicle there). The ride will take about 30 minutes to the campsite.

Jeram Tiga Lapis

Jeram Enggang and Jeram Tiga Lapis Campsite

From the campsite, we headed North and down toward the nearest waterfall, Jeram Tiga Lapis, which took less than 5 minutes.

Jeram Tiga Lapis

It is called Jeram Tiga Lapis (Three Layers Rapid) because of the three levels of waterfall in such a close proximity. GPS Coordination:  2.87135 102.09481

Hike to Jeram Enggang

Jeram Enggang and Jeram Tiga Lapis

After we were done with taking pictures around Jeram Tiga Lapis, we headed back up from where we came from. We headed toward South (slightly West), meeting a river, walking beside it and then crossing it.

Jeram Enggang and Jeram Tiga Lapis

Saw an interesting looking thick fern right beside the river.

Then, we continued on with a series of uphill hiking.

After 8 minutes, we stopped at a mini sandy pool area.

Continuing the hike with another series of climbs, passing by a huge and unique looking rock.

Another 8 minutes later, we walked down to another checkpoint with a small waterfall beside the trail. One of the members was already too eager to get wet and took a quick dip.

Hiking to Jeram Enggang

After a short stop, we headed on toward our final stop at Jeram Enggang.

Jeram Enggang

Jeram Enggang Waterfall Jelebu

Within 5 minutes, we reached our last official checkpoint at Jeram Enggang (approx GPS location:  2.86635 102.09280 ). While Kelvin set up the ‘jungle kitchen’ and cooked food for us, we spent the time taking pictures and playing around the waterfall. The water was super chilling! Even standing near the waterfall makes you cold, thanks to the wind bringing the splashes to you. There was a nice spot where you could sit underneath the waterfall and let the strong current of cold water hit you.

After we finished resting and having our meal by Kelvin, the masterchef of the forest, he led some of us to further explore a few more waterfalls at the upper levels.

Jeram Enggang Hike

We went up via the land beside Jeram Enggang, and passed though pretty steep and slippery trails.

Jeram Enggang Hike

First, we reached and crossed our first extra waterfall in 10 minutes, climbing along it from the other side.

Jelebu Waterfalls Hike

Next, we reached this nice spot a few minutes later.

Lastly, we tracked a little bit upstream before heading back to the group at Jeram Enggang. The whole trip was a very nice experience with  Trailblazer Hiking Club Malaysia , led by Kelvin and Kabir.

*Captain Planet passing by*  Remember, please take care of our environment, and please don’t destroy the Nature. Leave no trash behind and take back only photos and memories (and also some trash if you can). Walk on the designated path and stay in the middle as much as you can, so that the exposed soil doesn’t spread/corrode further. BE ONE WITH NATURE  *flies away*

To begin with Mr Mohd Fauzi was a perfect tour guide with Excellent Knowledge and Information on the Genting Attraction, Tourism, Demographics, History and Economy of Malaysia and with great sense of humour and patience he answered all our areas of Interest questions and Guided us perfectly from Pick Up to Drop. The Genting Island is a must Visit destination and with Light Drizzle and Clouds Resting on the Mountains gave us great Views of the Location. The Sky Cable ride both ways with the Chinese Monastery And Temple Visit in Between was a Memorable and Beautiful Experience. Thank you Maran - who was basically a history teacher throughout this tour. Their team were professional through the entire tour. If youre young women or elderly please book this shared tour as being in the coach and amongst a group felt safe and youre given 1 hour of your own time at the end of trip to go explore Malacca, which was a great moment for us. Unfortunately we had a horrible experience with a private tour guide, but Thank you Maran and his team for more than making up for it with this tour. We appreciate you guys 🙏 Read more Written April 26, 2024

It was a very hot day, so I didn't want to spend too much time outdoors. The tour of the Selangor factory was nice, but the textile tour could have been omitted. The Batu Caves, Waterfalls, and Hot Springs provided great experiences while driving through the city and outlying areas. I was pleased to have this private tour as the timing was all on me. We stayed as short or as long as I preferred. Lunch was right up my alley, a ramen chicken bowl. On a scale of 1-10, I will give it an 8. I wasn't asked about the spice level and it seemed to be at a 2 when my preference would have been a 6. Read more Written April 24, 2024

The Chinese temple was absolutely beautiful, with so many views of the city. Each stop was the perfect amount of time to spend, and the driver was accommodating to adjust the schedule if needed. It allowed for a lot of independent exploration while still getting the guidance I needed. My guide, Aris, was very kind and informative, answering all my questions and even took my picture to capture all the memories I created. The River of Life and Lake Symphony/ KLCC Park were definitely the highlights of the tour. They had breathtaking views and history, but driving through the city’s cultural centers was also a great experience. I would recommend for anyone on their first day to the city, as I did nearly as soon as I got in from my flight. All my thanks to Aris and Asni Tours! Read more Written April 13, 2024

Seronoknya!

Alamat : Sungai Berkelah, 26300 Gambang, Pahang

#2 Air Terjun Sungai Pandan

Alamat : Air Terjun Sungai Pandan, 26250 Kuantan, Pahang

#3 Air Terjun Lubuk Ujid

Alamat:  72, Jalan Jerantut – Benta Kampung Kuala Sentul 26430 Bandar Pusat Jengka, 64, Kampung Kuala Sentul, 26430 Bandar Tun Razak, Pahang

#4 Air Terjun Lubuk Yu (Hutan Lipur)

Alamat : Taman Eko Rimba Lubuk Yu,  Kuala Sentul, Maran, Pahang

#5 Air Terjun Panching (Air Terjun Sungai Pandan)

Alamat : Jalan Sungai Pandan, 26250 Kuantan, Pahang

#6 Air Terjun Seri Mahkota

Alamat : 26800 Kuala Rompin, Pahang

#7 Air Terjun Bukit Bertangga, Felda Kumai

Alamat : Felda Kumai, Triang, Pahang

#8 Air Terjun Pelangi, Sungai Lembing

Alamat : Sungai Lembing Air Terjun Pelangi

#9 Air Terjun Jerangkang, Maran

Alamat : Jalan Paya Rambutan, 26300 Gambang, Pahang

#10 Air Terjun Lata Jarum, Raub

Alamat : Ulu Dong, 27600 Dong, Pahang

#11 Air Terjun Teladas, Maran

Alamat : 26500 Maran, Pahang

#12 Air Terjun Lata Bujang

air terjun Pahang

Alamat : Air Terjun Lata Bujang

#13 Air Terjun Lata Meraung, Jerantut

air terjun Pahang

Alamat : 27000 Jerantut, Pahang

#14 Air Terjun Chamang, Bentong (Hutan Lipur Chamang)

air terjun Pahang

Alamat : 28700 Bentong, Pahang

#15 Air Terjun Pulau Chekas, Raub

air terjun Pahang

Apa-apa pun pastikan keselamatan sentiasa diutamakan sepanjang bercuti tu ya!

About this tour

Having a height of 3,726 meters above sea level, Rinjani is lined up as the second-highest volcano in the world. So, did you know that since April 1 2021, the Mount Rinjani National Park Center has added two official climbing routes: Tete Batu and Torean. Completing the four official hiking trails that already existed: Sembalun, Senaru, Aik Berik, and Timbanuh. Between the two official routes which were only inaugurated a few months ago, Torean is predicted to be the favorite route for climbers to descend from the top of Rinjani and spend the night at Segara Anak Lake.

OFFROAD : Jerangkang Waterfalls in Pahang, Malaysia

On October 7, 2014

This project was in fact a jamboree organized by AMAL 4X4 Club in March 2014.  The venue is Hutan Lipur Jerangkang in Pahang. AMAL 4X4 is an NGO, active in reaching out to orang asli (natives people) and other hard-to-reach community doing charity work and dakwah (spreading message of Islam).  Our other missions are recreation and rescue. Visit AMAL 4X4  facebook for details what we are doing.

HOW TO GET TO THIS PLACE?

Jerangkang Waterfall aka Hutan Lipur Jerangkang can be reached from the KL-Kuantan road. If you drive along East Coast Highway aka LPT, you may exit at Sri Jaya into old KL-Kuantan road. Then take Kuantan-bound direction after the exit. About 30 km after passing Maran, turn left at a signboard ‘Hutan Lipur Jerangkang’. The road leads through rubber plantations and passes under the LPT.  For the most part of the stretch a 4WD is needed. The terrain is not meant for a city car. A standard 4×4 is good enough, during hot dry season.

If you don’t drive, you may take a public transport like bus. The bus will drop you at Kampung Gelugor, a ‘port’ before going into the jungle. There is a restaurant and a mosque next to it. Transport to the falls can be arranged from this port. Ask around at a restaurant next to the mosque. I was not type in this trip, so I dont know the fares.

WHAT TO DO?

Well, you cannot do things you do in the city here. It is back to basics. Suggested activities here.

 1. Camping. Basic camping facilities are provided: toilet with water source from the fall via PVC pipes, campsite, huts. Set up own tent and cook basic meals. Camping is made easy these gas. To eat, just heat up pre-cooked canned foods on portable stoves, powered from butane gas. To sleep, just pop up the tent.  Leftovers must be kept properly because wild dogs stray at night in search for foods.

2. Trekking.  You can track up to higher level falls. A local we met said there are 43 levels up there. I wish I could verify his claim but at the end just believed him. Words of caution — you must have basic knowledge before trekking in the jungle. What tp bring in the backpack and what to leave. Navigation skill is crucial.

3. Offroad activities . In case you drive 4×4 here, like myself, you could sharpen your offroad skill by maneuvering steep hills and stream crossing.

4. Or just take a dive into the natural swimming pool.  The waters so pure and cooling.

No mobile phone signal here. So you are cut off from the civilization for a couple of days. It is a bliss indeed — no calls from boss and colleagues.  But do not forget your camera. Nights in the jungle can get very cooler. Bring light jackets just in case.

Enjoy the photos below.

Some of the 4X4s participating

A Pajero which turned turtle when scaling Bukit Tegak ( vertical hill ). The driver Pak Kiyai was fine anyway. Well it really served its purpose.

A doctor among us treated a Mak Cik orang asli

The amal part of the trip — visiting orang asli in the Jerangkang area. with basic necessities and medical supply.

Jabatan Hutan closes the track up to the higher falls, in view of so many unauthorized vehicles going up. Now you have to backpack all the way up to enjoy all the 43 falls.

Camping site right in the middle of the nature.

No call is more urgent than the call for muslims to pray. Muslims must pray 5 times a day wherever they are.

A dive into one of the falls. Local said there are 43 such falls, the most beautiful one is at the top-most, unsurprisingly.

Fall no. 3 in Hutan Lipur Jerangkang, in Pahang, Malaysia.

Families can setup their tent here, under the tall trees.

One of the activities called for each group to prepare best food from the live chickens provided, and no other tool or spices.

An official camping site built by the relevant government agency.

A briefing on survival in the jungle prior to the jungle tracking.

A toilet was provided with water source from the waterfall via PVC pipes. I saw some came with families with small kids.

An underpass. LPT is up there.

Non-moslem friends from Kuantan also joined us in this trip.

Masjid Kg Gelugor along Kuantan-Maran old road is the starting point into Hutan Lipur Jerangkang.
