Open days at University of Warwick

The University of Warwick is a public research university founded in 1965 and based in Coventry.

The university is split into three faculties; Arts, Science Engineering and Medicine, and Social Sciences - within which there are 32 departments.

The university has an acknowledged reputation for excellence in research and teaching, innovation and links with business and industry. It is also known for its high graduate employment rate and is ranked in our top 10 subject tables for many of its courses.

Facilities

Warwick has a sports hub that features a climbing wall, 12-lane swimming pool, gym with individual stations and free weights/strength area.

The university is home to an impressive art centre housing two theatres, a music studio, art gallery, cinema and concert hall and regularly attracts some big names.

There is an extensive library service including a modern records centre, digital collection and physical library space.

Why go to an open day?

When you attend an open day, you'll get a gut feeling about the university. Open days will help give you clarity if you're not sure what course to choose. You'll be able to visit different departments and chat with lecturers and other department staff, there are often subject talks too. You'll also get to speak to current students. They can tell you whether they're satisfied with the teaching, what the local nightlife is like, what the best halls of residence are – pretty much anything. Don't forget to look at the accommodation for yourself and make time to walk around the surrounding area to see if you like it.

Where is it located?

Warwick's main campus is on the outskirts of Coventry. There is also a satellite campus in Wellesbourne and a central London base at the Shard. There are regular bus services to Warwick campus from Coventry city centre and Coventry train station.

Coventry, UK City of Culture for 2021, is a diverse and forward-looking place that might just surprise you. Heavily bombed in WW2, its modernist architecture isn't for everyone but there's many stories here if you look for them.

Sitting in the heart of the country, Coventry is well connected to pretty much anywhere with the bright lights of Birmingham and London within quick and easy reach by train. Warwickshire countryside is also not far away, and Stratford-upon-Avon is a nice place to visit for a picnic by the river.

The University of Warwick has an impressive track record in our UK university league tables, appearing in the top 12 consistently. It scores well across many metrics including graduate prospects. For all the details, visit their profile page.

The SU is the centre of social life here at Warwick, and in this virtual tour, we’ll give you a look at some of the key facilities housed within our two buildings. In reality - SUHQ, the Atrium building and The Dirty Duck are all right next to each other. We've just split them into separate tours so it's easier for you to navigate.

The SU Atrium building is located right next to the Piazza, and this where you’ll find the majority of our food and drink outlets as well as The Copper Rooms nightclub. The Atrium also plays host to market stalls and society activities during the week, as well as providing a space for students to relax or study. Visit The Atrium

The SUHQ building above Rootes Grocery Store is where you’ll find your elected student officers, SU Reception and a whole host of student support services including, the Advice Centre, Student Activities (Sports and Societies) and Student Voice. It's also home to the SU’s fantastic social study space - The Green Room. Visit the SUHQ

Up the staircase between the two SU buildings is The Dirty Duck, our traditional campus eatery. The home of real ale and hearty food on campus, it’s one of the best places to meet up with friends and relax, with the evenings hosting regular Quiz and Karaoke nights. It’s also home to our exclusive social space for Postgrad students, The Graduate. Visit The Dirty Duck
