In addition to being full of beauty, energy, and history, Zanzibar’s well-known capital, Stone Town, isn’t just any town. Because of this, tourists may anticipate being given a sensory experience that is just difficult to find elsewhere in the world. Africans, Arabs, Indians, and even Europeans gathered at this UNESCO World Heritage Site, which was once a thriving centre of trade, to exchange not only products and services but also their distinct cultures. The Jozani Forest and Spice tours at Spice Island are two of the most well-known tours and safari activities that take place in and around Stone Town nowadays. What you need know about them is as follows;
Jozani Forest Tour. This is often a half-day guided walking safari through the island’s central conservation area, which was established in the 1960s. With a total size of 50 square kilometres, the Jozani Forest encompasses a portion of the Jozani Chwaka National Park. While there are lots to see and do during the tour, one of the main highlights is coming across the Red Colobus Monkey, a beautiful and rare primate that spend most their lives in the trees and bushes. There is nowhere else in the world where this species may be found. In spite of deforestation and other tourism-related development initiatives on the island, this uncommon and endangered species has managed to thrive in the Jozani Chwaka National Park, which was established to protect it. Replanting trees and teaching local populations about the value of conservation are just two of the many preservation projects funded in large part by park entrance fees. Thus, you should practise sustainable travel and contribute to the preservation of this special and delicate ecosystem while on your visit. Tour Details . Typically, the Jozani Forest tour begins with a visit to the natural forest, where multiple smaller canopies are formed beneath the largest canopy by bushes and smaller trees. It is simply amazing how diverse this amazing wooded scenery is. The Mama Mtondoo, a fascinating mahogany tree thought to be more than 200 years old, will be visible to you. Additionally, there are the intriguing twins, which are two different tree species coexisting (one is a sycamore, the other is a strangler fig). It’s also possible to get a look of the enormous raffia fern tree, which holds the record for having the biggest leaves in the planet. As you venture deeper into this verdant forest, you may see some of its other inhabitants, including big types of butterflies, millipedes, lizards, amphibians, and sunbirds that flit among the exquisite tropical flowers and have vivid colours. Other fauna, including the shy Ader’s duiker or Suni antelope, as well as Sykes monkeys, shrews, galagos, and chameleons, can be spotted along the woodland pathways. In the direction of the bay, you can see several kinds of vibrant fish in the water as well as mollusks and crabs. The local community established an on-site turtle refuge. Zanzibar Spice Tour . One of the most well-liked safaris in Stone Town is the Spice Tour. On a four to six-hour walking tour, you will have the rare chance to take in Zanzibar’s aromas and spices while seeing some of the most exotic spices in the world. Large-scale spice plantations were established by Arabs in the past, earning Zanzibar the moniker “spice island” and making it the largest clove exporter in the world at the time. Zanzibar’s clove, nutmeg, cardamom, turmeric, cinnamon, chilli, and black pepper are still highly prized ingredients today.
Tour Details. The Spice Tour offers a singular chance to view and purchase these spices directly from the supplier. You will travel to the remote spice farms, or “shamba,” where you may observe the cultivation and processing of fruits, herbs, and spices. You get to know the farmers, discover African farming practices, and even put some of the skills into practice. While you are smelling and tasting spices, herbs, and tropical fruits like coconuts, papayas, cassava, and oranges, the tour guide explains how to make the most out of these crops. Many of the areas were made expressly to display crops and/or spices to visitors. You can truly taste the various ways these spices are utilized when you eat a typical Swahili meal at the farm after the tour. Alternatively, you could participate in a quick cooking class in the farm’s outdoor kitchen. Make sure to carry some cash before you leave for the day because the trip culminates with a stop at kiosks selling freshly packaged spices, fruits, and even essential oils and perfumes. You don’t usually need to worry about tipping the farm workers because the tour price usually includes it, but you are more than welcome to do so if you still feel like it. Jozani Forest and Spice tours present Zanzibar’s diversity and distinct natural beauty in a completely new light. It helps you appreciate everything the well-known island has to offer and gain a deeper grasp of what makes it function. Many tour companies can complete both tours in a single day, but it might be advisable to visit both on a different day and combine it with other fascinating activities like a visit to the Old Slave Chambers or snorkelling and kitesurfing at the beach, so you don’t feel hurried at either safari destination.

Two of Africa's most vibrant and authentic getaways, the Serengeti and Zanzibar create an indelible mix of safari, beach, and local culture. Both are filled with ancient fables, the tales stretching from iconic grasslands to the spice island. From a million wildebeest rumbling across the grasslands to an evocative maze of Swahili coral houses, lion prides battling with hyenas to empty white beaches that stretch for miles, these legendary World Heritage destinations are unchanged.
Customizable Itinerary
Ngorongoro crater – gazing down into the world heritage crater.
Tanzania's history is evoked by gazing down into Ngorongoro Crater, the world's largest intact volcanic caldera. The woodland spirals up the steep sides, and you glimpse the odd elephant rumbling down the slopes; a lake is tinged pink by flamingoes, contrasting the green of the surrounding grasslands; and the patchwork of dark dots you see are wildebeest and zebra grazing far below. Take in the panorama, and it's almost impossible to believe that such a place exists, that 30,000 wild mammals could occupy the remains of a volcano. And as you're inspired by this scale, a buffalo herd marches by, making their daily journey into the crater. The safari has already started, even though you're just gazing out from the lodge. Today you'll land at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer onto a local flight to Manyara, where you're greeted by your guide for the short journey into Ngorongoro Conservation Area and a lodge on the crater rim.
What's Included:
Ngorongoro Crater – Charming Game Drive through Tanzania's Garden of Eden
Ngorongoro Crater is most mystical in the dawn hours, when mist rises from the lake and the big mammals are at their most active. Staying on the crater rim means you can descend when the gate open at sunrise, being one of the first vehicles on the seductive crater floor. A lion pride greets you, a male's mane flowing as the females stalk a small herd of gazelle. Into the woodland, you find the old elephant bulls, huge tusks curving skyward with stoic pride. Now across the crater floor, finding two rhinos on their bashful morning journeys. They plod along, bringing up goosebumps as they roam past the vehicle; by mid-morning, the rhinos are likely to have retreated into the privacy of the bush, away from any accessible trails.
Drive slowly, watching the wildebeest that gallop around comically and admiring the zebras that huddle in picturesque groups. Find a hyena scurrying towards the flamingos in the lake, then get close enough to a buffalo herd to hear their hissed breathing. By 9 am, you'll have seen at least a dozen different mammals, so stop for a picnic coffee by a second lake, watching the hippos as they rise and fall in the water. Ngorongoro is an oasis of life, and this single game drive is likely to fulfill so many preconceptions of an African safari. You're permitted to spend six hours on the crater floor, before ascending back to the lodge for a sumptuous lunch and a relaxed afternoon.
Ndutu (Serengeti) – Olduvai Gorge and Descending onto the Epic Plains
Descending into the Serengeti is an equally hypnotic experience. From the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you drive down the old volcanic slope, admiring the enormity of the grasslands that extend below. It extends at every angle, flowing beyond the horizon like an unbroken carpet woven by nature's reverie. Clumps of black dapple this carpet, large herds of zebra and wildebeest that graze on these famous plains. Even when you visit outside the great wildebeest migration months, there is always a staggering number of wildebeest, zebra and Thomson's gazelle in the Serengeti. As the grasslands support the ungulates, the ungulates support the predators, helping to maintain a very healthy population of big cats; it won't take long to spot your first Serengeti lion pride.
En route to the Serengeti, you stop in Olduvai Gorge, where ancient humanoid fossils reveal where Homo sapiens evolved from; it's another inspiring reminder of the age of this landscape. Then the game drive explores the Ndutu area in the south of the Serengeti, where flat plains are dappled with herds and the sporadic trees make an excellent hideout for leopards. You're quickly immersed in the rhythm of the grasslands, following the scents to find big cats in their hideouts, or using the open panorama to spot elephants, giraffe, and buffalo herds on the move. Tucked away in this remote and pristine area, your camp provides a classic safari-under-canvas experience, while also offering all the necessary comforts; wooden decking for watching the plains, hot showers, Western toilets, and comfy beds. While it is a camp, this isn't a typical camping experience.
Ndutu (Serengeti) – Big Game Safari in Southern Serengeti
In the morning light, you follow a lion pride, watching the lionesses as they hide in the high grass and sneak closer to a zebra herd. Everything is still, the guide cuts the engine, and the scene plays out. As the lions get closer, a sentinel raises the alarm, causing the zebras to panic. Undeterred, the lions emerge from their hideout, four of them ushering the herd towards the higher grass. Snapping and snarling, they cajole the zebra into their ambush, isolating a young female. Can they catch her? Out of nowhere, another lion jumps from the high grass, taking down the zebra in a few seconds of spiraling dust and strangled yelps. Even from the raised vantage point of the vehicle, you hadn't seen this stealthy lioness remaining in the grass.
Inching closer to the kill, you watch the big male bite into the carcass, ripping through the skin and coming up with a blood-splattered mane. He roars, a low rumbling grunt that warns the other males away. Yet that doesn't deter the hyenas; hearing the signal they come in a pack, joining two jackals who are already attempting to steal small pieces of flesh and bone tossed from the carcass. When you visit the Serengeti, you don't simply see the animals. You see scenes like this one, with different species and herds revealing an ancient rhythm. As with all days in the Serengeti, today's game drives are flexible. Choose to spend the whole day on the plains, taking a picnic lunch to pools filled with hippos. Or you may prefer morning and afternoon drives with some quiet time at the camp.
Central Serengeti – Immersed in the Safari Wonders of the Serengeti
Next, you drive north, bumping over the trails that lead towards Seronera and the Central Serengeti plains. It's one of Africa's great safari journeys, unraveling the phenomenal scale of the grasslands yet continually inspecting new details. Pass a few zebra, then a few more, then a herd of a thousand by a waterhole. Find a dozen wildebeest, then a few thousand scattered across the short grass. Lose track of the hyenas, the menacing predator that seems to be everywhere the herds are. Then find lions perched on their kopjes, the rocks that protrude above the plains. A pride drapes itself across the rocks, a few peering out and the rest slumbering in the sun. But travel to the next kopjes and you see the lions descending towards a passing herd.
The central area is a natural place to stop on any Serengeti safari, mainly due to its location. Many distinctive areas are accessible from here, helping you respond to the nuances of the migration and track the biggest herds. Clumps of forest provide a haven for elephants and giraffes, while a series of pools provide guaranteed hippo sightings. Most of all, this central area helps to showcase the Serengeti's sense of space. You can drive for four hours in any direction and still be on the grasslands, still be filling your eyes with more and more herds. Like in the Ndutu area, your camp blends into the environment and helps maintain your immersion in the landscape.
Stone Town – Touching down on the Spice Island
From the Serengeti to the spice island, a light aircraft transports you between the two World Heritage sites. In less than two hours, you've swapped the grasslands for the maze, and you're opening all the senses to the ambiance of Stone Town. Fresh fish sizzles on street barbecues, the shouts of fruit traders echo through the alleys; exquisite wooden doors reveal a decorated history, and every turn brings a new color. While the Stone Town can be visited on a day tour, it's most seductive experience comes in the late afternoon and evening, when the labyrinthine streets reveal their local flavor. You'll be greeted at the airport and transferred to a boutique hotel on the edge of the maze, with a guide giving you a quick orientation and offering dinner recommendations.
Stone Town – Evocative World Heritage History in Stone Town
A surreal history is etched onto each of the coral houses in Stone Town. Open some doors, and you enter the lavish house of former slave traders, or the ornate interiors of an old colonial palace. As the call to prayer sails evocatively across the rooftops, you wander past an old Catholic cathedral and a Hindu temple. A colorful chaos fills the famous marketplace, where smells guide you to the spices that have been traded here for centuries. Then a poignant memorial marks the place where slaves were once traded. With an expert local guide, today's tour narrates the stories of Stone Town. Lunch is included, and the relaxed pace suits the local atmosphere.
Stone Town – Spice Plantations and Slave Caves of Zanzibar
Just outside Stone Town, the spice plantations and slave caves show both the proud and shameful stories. For almost a millennia, Zanzibar was the crossroads for goods entering and leaving Africa. Spices and tortoise shells went to China; cultures mingled during interaction with Arab traders, and the slave trade continued from Zanzibar long after it was outlawed. Visiting the plantations and mysterious caves provides an insight into how Zanzibar shaped Africa and the world. It's a half-day tour, followed by a relaxed afternoon at the hotel, either lounging at the pool that overlooks the Indian Ocean or exploring the surrounding streets.
Dongwe – White Beach Paradise in Eastern Zanzibar
Zanzibar's eastern coast is where the image of Indian Ocean island bliss is most sublime. A strip of white sand runs the length of the coast, with overhanging clumps of jagged coral demarcating different bays at high tide; at low tide, the white panorama spreads out like the Serengeti plains, untouched and untamed for millennia. While a series of luxury hotels are found in the north, it's on this quiet eastern coast where Zanzibar's private retreats are located. Relax in the boutique luxury of your lodge, dip your toes in the turquoise waters, enjoy a spa treatment, and let the exotic colors of the Indian Ocean gently lull you into slumber. It's a one-hour transfer from Stone Town to your boutique ocean lodge.
Dongwe – Swimming with Wild Dolphins
Zanzibar's eastern coast compels you to do nothing. With the beach, warm waters, and overwhelming sense of tranquility, it's easy to spend your days escaping into the exotic Zanzibar atmosphere. One excursion is highly recommended, and the early wake-up call is always rewarded. Pods of wild dolphins come to feed in the Kizimkazi Bay at dawn, before playing in the surrounding waters as the sun comes up. Boats take you out to them, and you jump in, a whole pod swimming past in unison. The dolphins are quick and you can't keep up, so jump back in the boat to another point where you can join them in the water. This isn't SeaWorld. There is no touching or fancy dolphin tricks. But as you wait in the ocean, a whole pod elegantly comes past, with some dolphins barely a couple of meters away from you. You'll return to the lodge by mid-morning, where the rest of the day is about snoozing in the sun.
Day 12 - 13
Dongwe – Tropical Bliss on an Untouched Zanzibar Beach
For the final two days, you savor the escapism of Zanzibar, removing the shoes and forgetting about time. Walk along the sand and create the only footprints, sail in a wooden dhow, perhaps spend an evening dining at The Rock, a restaurant built on a coral island that's marooned at high tide. Zanzibar is very much like the dreamy image of an Indian Ocean island getaway, a haven of exotic colors and the gentlest of atmospheres. Meals can be enjoyed at the lodge, but there's also a handful of other hotel restaurants along the beach, each well spaced as Zanzibar never feels crowded.
Stone Town – Departure
Zanzibar's International Airport has grown exponentially over the last few years and now offers a handful of intercontinental connections, as well as the regular flights to Nairobi, the aerial hub of East Africa. It's a 45-minute transfer back across the island to the airport and your departing flight.

Detailed Description
Tanzania is a land of fables, where the narratives of ancient history continue to play out uninterrupted. Two million mammals roam around the Serengeti plains, with wildebeest and zebra continuing their annual migration routes. Enchanting coral houses fill the narrow labyrinth of Stone Town, an inspiring ode to Swahili history and trading along Africa's Indian Ocean coast. Across the Serengeti, there are countless prints, made by lions chasing gazelle or elephants on long nomadic journeys. On Zanzibar's coastline, there's hardly a mark in the white sand, the turquoise ocean washing the beach clean every high tide. The World Heritage sites of Serengeti and Zanzibar make for a legendary mix of bush and beach, combining epic big game safari with serene island bliss. But this isn't the typical bush and beach getaway, as it's also a wonderful immersion in the ancient fables of lands unchanged.
This 2-week escape combines six nights on safari with seven nights in Zanzibar. The destinations visited shouldn't be rushed but savored; explored not only for the sights but for their ambiance and feelings. Go on a Serengeti safari for a day, and you'll see animals; spend six days on safari, and you'll lose yourself in the ancient rhythm of the wild. Visit Zanzibar for two days, and you can see a white beach and a hypnotic old town; stay for a week, and you're immersed in the beautiful nuances and serene atmosphere of the old spice island.
Your safari starts in Ngorongoro Crater, another of Tanzania's World Heritage sites. Descend onto the crater floor for a charming game drive through contrasting habitats, each few moments bringing another inspiring sight. This ancient volcanic caldera is home to the full big five, and an early start helps you see rhinos and lions on the move, along with some of Africa's largest elephant bulls. Next, you descend onto the Serengeti grasslands and explore the southern plains, a mystical home of prowling predators and roaming herds. This is a wonderful showcase of both the enormity and intricacy of the Serengeti; you're completely surrounded by animals. Explore the Central Serengeti the next few days, the beating heart of the landscape a prime place to see lions on their rocky perches. Regardless of the time of year, you will see huge herds of wildebeest and zebra, along with the vibrant collection of predators: lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, jackal, vulture, and a series of eagles.
Your week in Zanzibar is split between Stone Town and the idyllic beaches of the east coast. Both immerse you in a timeless atmosphere, from the 17th-century maze of coral houses to the white sand and turquoise waters. Private guided tours evoke the history of the island, including visits to the slave caves, old palaces, and spice plantations. On the beach, it's easy to take off the shoes and forget about time, with four days in Dongwe centered around Indian Ocean bliss. One iconic morning excursion is to the southern tip, where you can swim with pods of wild dolphins; it's an astonishing to be up close with dolphins in their natural habitat.

Zanzibar: Africa’s Spice Route
Author: Lana Goodwin - 16 November 2017
Last Update: 30 January 2024
Part of the Zanzibar Holiday Vacation & African Safari Collection
The pristine and popular island destination of Zanzibar is an exciting take on a beach safari in Africa. It's ideal location means that the weather is great throughout the year, making it an easy choice for visitors. Plam-fringed beaches and crystal waters are among the top reasons why you should visit the island. From the Jozani forest to the iconic city of Stone Town, Zanzibar is rich in culture and history, attested to by the variety of influences that permeate the fabric of this little East African gem.
In days long past, Zanzibar was the entry point to East Africa from the Indian Ocean. Arabian, Malaysian and Indian aromatics were introduced and traded by merchants arriving from distant lands. As a result, Zanzibar became a haven of exotic spices in Africa and these influences continue to dictate the local cuisine. This makes Zanzibar the best beach safari for foodies and sun-seekers.
Zanzibar became a spice route due to its position as a trade port
Zanzibar is known as the The Spice Island of Africa. This island's spice heritage harks back more than four centuries ago. In fact, it was previously an ancient trading hub of seafaring routes that circled between India, mainland East Africa, Malaysia and Portugal. During this period, spices from Western Asia made their way to Zanzibar thanks to the useful drift of the monsoon winds that made sailing across the expansive Indian Ocean (using a dhow) easy, practical and relatively fast.
That aside, Zanzibar gained massive popularity as a convenient spice trading bay in the 16th and 17th centuries after Portuguese explorers and traders set up base on the island in preparation of their plan to control the larger East African land block. During this time, the traders imported a collection of foreign plants and spices, which included aromatics from as far as India and South America. Soon enough, the Omani Arabs took over the Indian Ocean island and introduced widespread spice farming on it, thanks to its all-year-round regular rainfall and hot climate. In just a matter of a few decades, Zanzibar was a collection of clove trees interspersed with coconut trunks.
Nutmeg, cinnamon and coriander seeds are popular aromatics in Zanzibar cooking
Today, the legendary spices of Zanzibar have made their mark on island's tasty cuisine. So much so that food served in Zanzibar has a remarkable and distinctive taste that is almost impossible to find anywhere else in the world. What's more, every visitor who lands in Zanzibar is offered what is now customary known as a 'mandatory' spice tour around the island. Among these are turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, chilies, nutmeg, black pepper, and vanilla. You can also take this opportunity to interact with the local population as you stroll through the array of Swahili villages that dot the island just outside Stone Town.
Zanzibar also offers an unforgettable cultural experience that is punctuated by a mouthwatering collection of fruits such as mangoes, lychees, papaya, bananas, jackfruit and the notoriously smelly Durian fruit. The island’s cooking includes full-bodied curries using available seafood such as octopus and meat such as goat. Fragrant spices and traditional Malaysian biryanis (a rice dish) complement the Middle-Eastern style kebabs and bhajias; a filled pastry fritter.
On a typical spice tour, you'll get to try a variety of exotic fruits
Whether you are a food lover or an experimental cook, Zanzibar’s rich history and culture has informed the use of spices on the island today. A trip to Stone Town should include a spice tour, where you can sample the tastes and smells of this unique island; the spice Mecca of Africa.

Fruit and Spice
Fruit and Spice Wellness Resort is located in the Kizimkazi area.
Fruit and Spice Wellness Resort is located in the Kizimkazi area of the Zanzibar Island.
Zanzibar Island
Zanzibar is a wonderful, romantic, historic and stunningly beautiful tropical island.
It combines fantastically with safari and trekking options on the mainland and offers a very wide range of accommodation.
There is a vast range of things to do, notably some sensational diving, snorkelling and kite-surfing, as well as some superb historic and cultural activities. The main potential downsides are that Zanzibar has become a very popular and relatively busy destination, which unfortunately now attracts a mass market packaged holiday crowd, meaning that you need to take care in which parts of the island you choose to stay.
Zanzibar Kizimkazi
Kizimkazi is a stretch of coastline to the southwest of Zanzibar Island, a peaceful area which is centred on an historic fishing village, backed by palm tree plantations and with a beachfront of coral cliffs and small beaches in sheltered bays.
The village of Kizimkazi itself is an apparently insignificant little fishing settlement, but one which happens to be of great historical importance, being one of the first places that the Shirazi people from Persia settled along this coast. These people have shared the island with the better known Swahili people, who originated in Oman. With a little practise you may be able to tell the difference between the two groups of people, the Shirazi often having a characteristically broad face with high cheek-bones. This village is still considered to be their cultural home. The coastline here is very different from the classic palm-backed lagoon of the east coast. Here a coral rag cliff rises above the ocean and the beaches take the form of small coves rather than broad expanses of sand. For this reason there are relatively few lodges and the area has a distinct and authentic atmosphere.
Offshore lies the substantial Menai Bay Marine Park, which includes some very lovely small islands and sandbanks, perfect for lazy days out on the boat and fabulous picnic lunches. There is also some very good diving and snorkelling.
Set on a decent cliff top plot in a remote location in the Kizimkazi area of Zanzibar Island, Fruit and Spice Wellness Resort is a reasonably high quality beach resort with guest accommodation in 38 rooms, a decent range of facilities and offering a wide range of marine and cultural activities.
Getting there
The property is accessed by flights into Zanzibar International Airport, with a wide range of international and domestic connections.
From the airport it is a road transfer of around 90 minutes to the lodge.
We usually include all the connecting transport for your trip unless you specifically ask us not to.
The resort is centred on a thatched main building, leading out to a swimming pool.
Fruit and Spice Wellness Resort is privately owned by and Italian family, who are very keen to disassociate themselves with the bad reputation that some Italian properties have on the island. This is very much aimed at a international mix of clients.
Lodge notes
The resort is a reasonably high quality beach resort situated 4km to the north of the village of Kizimkazi on the southwest coast of Zanzibar Island. This is a very remote location. Apart from one very large and upmarket lodge a short distance to the south, there really is nothing else for miles around. It is contained on a large plot which lies 3.5km down a small dirt access road from the main sealed highway and has almost 200 metres of ocean frontage. An impressive driveway leads to the vehicle turnaround, from where we enter and enormous reception space, with a large restaurant to one side.
Further forwards on the plot there is a large swimming pool, with a nice bar area alongside.
There is also an extensive spa facility.
Dining options
The food service at Fruit and Spice Wellness Resort is usually very good quality, with some fabulous fresh seafood of course.
Meals are usually served at separate tables in conventional restaurant style.
Special diets such as vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, kosher and other variations should not be a problem, so long as you let us know at the time of booking.
Power and connectivity
Child policy
There is no minimum age at this property.
Although the staff will naturally try to tailor the experience to suit all guests, children are ultimately obliged to behave with due consideration for other guests.
Tipping guide
In Africa tipping is definitely not obligatory, but it is commonplace. If you feel that the service provided has been excellent, then you may consider giving tips as follows ...
Lead guide : USD 10 per guest per day Assistant guide : USD 5 per guest per day General staff tip box : USD 5 per guest per day
Staff understand that guests of different nationalities come very different tipping cultures and adjust their expectations accordingly, so you really should tip as you feel comfortable.
Tips are usually given in cash, USD, EUR, GBP and ZAR being the most common currencies. If you are running short of cash or prefer not to carry so much currency, it is often possible to settle tips by bank card.
Guest accommodation is in 30 Deluxe Rooms in two storey blocks ...
Fruit and Spice Wellness Resort has guest accommodation is in a total of 38 comfortable and relatively chic rooms in three different specifications.
Deluxe Rooms : 30
These rooms are contained within two double storey blocks. They are conventional hotel style rooms with small bathrooms and private verandas.
Bungalows : 6
These detached rooms come in three different sub-categories, Superior, Executive and Suite. All of these rooms are much larger, with pleasant lounges and bathrooms.
These rather impressive rooms are similar to the above, but also have plunge pools and private spa areas. The Honeymoon villa is naturally for two people, but the Luxury Villa can accommodate a family of four.
... plus six suites in three different sub-categories, Superior Suite, Executive Suite ...
... and an impressive Honeymoon Villa on the tip of the peninsular.
There is also a spa facility.
Activities include diving, snorkelling, sailing, island picnics, kayaking, lagoon walks and cultural visits to local villages, as well as spa treatments.

These are the top 10 spices for biltong. However, feel free to experiment with other spices to create your own unique flavor profile. Remember to use high-quality spices and adjust the amounts based on personal preference.
How to Choose the Right Spice Combination
Choosing the right spice combination for your biltong can be a daunting task, but with a little bit of experimentation and knowledge, you can create a unique and delicious flavor profile. Here are a few tips to help you choose the right spice combination:
- Start with a base flavor: Choose a base flavor such as garlic, onion, paprika, or coriander. This will give your biltong a solid foundation of flavor.
- Add some heat: Add a little bit of heat to your biltong by using chili flakes, cayenne pepper, or smoked paprika. This will give your biltong a nice kick.
- Experiment with other spices: Try experimenting with other spices such as cumin, caraway seeds, nutmeg, and more. This will give your biltong a unique flavor profile.
- Consider traditional biltong spices: Traditional biltong spices include coarse salt, toasted ground whole coriander, cracked black pepper, and brown sugar. These spices can be a great starting point for creating your own spice combination.
When choosing your spice combination, it’s important to remember that less is often more. Start with a few spices and build from there. Taste your biltong as you go along and adjust the spices as needed.
Another important factor to consider is the type of meat you are using. Different types of meat will pair better with certain spices. For example, beef pairs well with rosemary, black pepper, and thyme, while poultry pairs well with garlic, herbed vinegar, and mashed green peppercorns.
Lastly, don’t be afraid to get creative with your spice combination. Biltong is a versatile snack that can be enjoyed in many different ways. Experiment with different spice combinations until you find the perfect flavor profile for your taste buds.
There you have it, the 10 best spices for biltong! Experiment with different combinations and amounts to find the perfect flavor for your taste buds. Remember, the key to great biltong is using high-quality meat and properly drying it. But a good spice blend can take it to the next level.
Whether you prefer a traditional South African biltong spice blend or want to try something new, there are plenty of options to choose from. From coriander and black pepper to paprika and cumin, each spice brings its unique flavor and aroma to the mix.
Don’t be afraid to get creative with your biltong seasoning. Add a touch of sweetness with brown sugar or a bit of heat with chili flakes. Mix and match until you find your perfect blend.
Remember to store your biltong in an airtight container in a cool, dry place to keep it fresh. And enjoy it as a snack or in your favorite recipes!

Location and contact.
I went to pick up an order done easily online earlier. The menu here has new dishes which I have not come across before so am going through them. Prices are at the top end but the food is tasty and plentiful. I have the... special Biryani which has plenty of meat and sauce to stop it going dry. By ordering online our order was ready onetime and service is always friendly. Worth a visit More
Restaurant has recently been taken over by the Chef from another local restaurant and thhe quality of food and service was excellent. Wide range of Bangladeshi options - all with a chilli heat rating which was an accurate reflection of the choices we made. owner... does not want an alcohol license so bring your own - local Spare is 100m away. We will definitely return. More
Nice restaurant with good food. Enjoyed the ambience and the staff are great. . We were a group of friends and most meals in a lot of sauce were great but without the sauce then one or two dinners thought the chicken was a little... dry. It's great that you can take your own wine / drinks and location is excellent. We would come back and try again More
Well, what wonderful food and service. Don't be put off by the "cafe" appearance. This restaurant is all about the flavours and the service. When you live in the Curry Capital of England (Leicester) it is hard to find somewhere to compare but here they... achieved the total "wow" factor. Everything was flavoursome and flawless. If you like authentic Indian food, come here. More
We received a warm welcome here this Sunday evening. The chicken tikka main course and the chicken tikka madras deserve a special mention. The garlic naan bread and pickle tray were decent. The only disappointment was the starter of lamb chops which were tough going.... Certainly the best Indian cuisine that we sampled in this area. More
Reopen with new owners. Absolutely fantastic. It is opposite Archway fish n chip shop. You have to book, they do 2 servings 6pm and 8pm. The place is clean and the food is tip top, we’ll most definitely be back. Service was great, atmosphere great.... They don’t have an alcohol license so pop to the Spar 20 yards up the road to buy a bottle of plonk 👌🥘 More
This was a super first at spice safari. We enjoyed the food from the extensive menu which catered for differing tastes. We thought the food was good value for money. The staff were attentive and friendly. We are looking forward to a return visit
We went on the opening night , was lovely to see the restaurant full, we had lovely popadoms , chutney tray , we had the sizzling starter for 2, yummy lamb chops in it Our main meal was chicken jalfrezi , mushroom rice and a... garlic nan, the food was delightful! Service was good and the staff are great , More

The best curry I've had in North Wales in the 14 years since I move here. Absolutely fantastic, would highly recommend! .
Fantastic food and a lovely warm atmosphere and attitude to customers. Although small in size it didn’t feel like that once seated. Thank you for a lovely meal and evening.

Spice Girls reunite at Victoria Beckham's 50th birthday party
By Caitlin O'Kane
April 22, 2024 / 10:55 AM EDT / CBS News
The Spice Girls had a reunion on Saturday and even put on an impromptu performance. The girl group linked up at Victoria Beckham 's 50th birthday party, and the fashion designer's husband gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at their reunion.
"Baby Spice" Emma Bunton, "Scary Spice" Melanie Brown, "Sporty Spice" Melanie Chisholm and "Ginger Spice" Geri Halliwell attended the star-studded bash for Beckham, who was known as "Posh Spice" in the pop band.
The group danced to their song "Stop," recreating their old dance moves. Video of the performance posted by David Beckham went viral, raking in more than a million views on Instagram.
The band broke up in 2000 after releasing three studio albums. Several of the band's members continued solo careers and Beckham went on to become a fashion designer.
The band went on two reunion tours, but Beckham did not join them on their most recent tour in 2019. The last time the five performed together was at the closing ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics .
After the birthday party, Brown, known as Mel B, teased an upcoming tour on Instagram, sharing Beckham's video and writing "tour dates coming soon."
Other famous faces in attendance included Eva Longoria , Gordon Ramsay and hairstylist Ken Paves. The Beckhams' four children, Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper, were also at the party.
