Golf Pride Tour Velvet vs. Tour Velvet 360: Golf Grip Showdown

Golf pride has introduced various rubber grips that give you a proper, stable grip on the golf club. Their classic tour velvet grips have been pretty popular since the 90’s. But in 2018, golf pride launched a modified version of tour velvet, naming it tour velvet 360.

The main difference between two models are their unique designs. Tour velvet has non-slipping ‘+’ patterned surface while tour velvet 360 features a full cord 360 design pattern. Tour velvet 360 has better traction, water resistance. But tour velvet has different sizes to choose from.

So, tour velvet vs tour velvet 360, which one is better?Join us further in the journey to have a good idea about both grip designs and choose which one suits you better.

Overview of Tour Velvet Shaft

Since the 1990s, when Golf Pride first introduced tour velvet grip, it has been one of the most liked golf grips by golfers.

They are made from an exclusive rubber-blend compound, making them soft and comfortable to hold. Rubber adds incredible traction and makes sure you have a firm grip.

tour velvet

Tour velvet has a pretty simple design. The lower part of the grip has a slightly larger diameter.

It reduces unnecessary tension between the hand and the shaft and makes the grip comfortable. Many manufacturers use this classic design as a base to create their grip designs.

Despite having a soft and smooth surface, tour velvet grips are non-slipping due to their digitally designed plus ‘+’ sign pattern. It adds a little tacky texture to the grip surface, so it doesn’t slip, even with sweaty hands.

Overview Of Tour Velvet 360 Shaft

Even though the classic tour velvet series were a hit, Golf Pride kept modifying it to make it even better. In 2018, they brought a modified version to the market, tour velvet 360.

This new grip features almost all characteristics of its predecessor, classic tour velvet. It is still soft, comfortable, and easy to handle.

Velvet 360

But now, it also has a 360-pattern full-cord design, which provides equal traction in all areas. The grip is designed to ensure a firm and secure hand placement in every club orientation.

The modified design has a raised guideline extending from the back of the grip to the front, near the logo. It helps the golfers to have a better idea of their hand placement.

Tour Velvet Vs Tour Velvet 360 Shaft: Quick Comparison Table

As tour velvet 360 is a successor version of tour velvet, they both have a lot of similar features. However, there are still some differences. Here’s a quick comparison table that will help you determine which suits your interest the best.

What Are The Differences Between Tour Velvet And Tour Velvet 360 Shaft?

If you are unfamiliar with golf shaft grips, at first glance, tour velvet and tour velvet 360 may look the same. But once you look closer, there are a couple of dissimilarities. Let’s take a detailed look at it, shall we?

Grip Design

Tour velvet

Tour velvet golf shafts have a simple yet scientific design. Its embedded ‘+’ plus sign pattern ensures a superior grip on the shaft.

And the lower part of the shaft is slightly wider, which reduces the slipping of the grip. On the other hand, tour velvet 360 comes with a full cord 360 design.

It still has the ‘+’ pattern but around the whole shaft, providing an extra secure grip. It also features a guiding ridge to help the newbies have proper hand position.

Size And Color

One of the main reasons for tour velvet to become popular among golfers is that it is available in multiple sizes and colors.

Standard, Midsize, Undersize, Jumbo, and Junior- you can choose from these five options according to your preference.

As tour velvet is a recent model, till now, it is only available in standard size. There are also no color variations, black being the only option to get.

Tour velvet grips are available in two versions, round and ribbed. For the round shafts, you can get 60 to 62 core sizes. But if you prefer ribbed ones, 56 to 60, a wide range of cores are available.

However, there is only one core size, 60 rounds, for the tour velvet 360 golf club grip. Though it is a standard size, if you are uncomfortable with it, you should choose one of the velvet tours instead.

Traction

Sweaty hands and wet and humid weather are one of the biggest hindrances for golf. Golfers lose their grip on the club shaft, miss the aim, and ultimately the outcome isn’t really pleasing.

That’s why a grip with good traction is a must. Both tour velvet and tour velvet 360 have fantastic traction, thanks to their non-slipping design.

The digitally embedded plus ‘+’ design in the grip keeps the grip firm and secure. In tour velvet 360, this pattern is distributed all over the shaft. And that’s why it provides more security in your grip.

Vibration Dampening

When a golfer hits the ball with his club, he feels the shock and vibration from the hit traveling through his golf stick.

Blended rubber grips like tour velvet and tour velvet 360 lessen the effect to a great extent.

Tour velvet 360 does a better job in this case due to its 360 full cord design. However, it can feel a little harsher in hand.

So, if you have a sensitive hand, it is better to go for a smooth, surfaced classic tour velvet.

Texture And Comfort

Texture And Comfort

Tour velvet grips don’t feature many ridges, so they have a smooth surface. As a result, they are easy and comfortable to hold.

But tour velvet 360 features guide rides, a logo on the front, full cord pattern, which makes their surface a little tacky.

However, they are not uncomfortable at all. In fact, their tacky texture allows the players to have a more firm grip on the shaft.

Weight

The weight of tour velvet grips varies depending on their size and model. Most of them are between 45 to 61 grams, with some exceptions.

On the other hand, tour velvet 360 grips don’t have wide varieties, and their weight is usually 50-57 grams.

The difference isn’t much, and you may barely feel the change. But yes, for study, tour velvet 360 is considered a slightly heavy option for golf grips.

Price

Prices of both tour velvet and tour velvet 360 vary depending on the vendor. They are both mid-ranged rubber grips and are affordable.

Tour Velvet or Tour Velvet 360: Which Golf Shaft To Choose?

Tour velvet and tour velvet 360 are amazing golf club grips choices. They provide a strong and rigid hold on the club shaft. So, which one should you choose?

Well, it depends on you. If you want a firmer grip with ultimate water resistance, tour velvet 360 would be a good choice.

However, you have to remember that their 360 full cord design can be abrasive for people with sensitive hands.

Do you prefer larger grips? Or do you like to have a smaller one instead? Classic tour velvet comes with a wide range of grips to choose from.

But for tour velvet 360, there is only one option to choose from, the standard-size grip. However, it is highly durable and lasts for longer.

So, judge all the factors before deciding on which model fits your requirement the best and choose that.

Here are some common questions regarding your velvet or tour velvet 360 grips. Let’s find the answer, too, shall we?

How Frequently Should You Change The Golf Grips?

Golf pride suggests changing their golf grips at least once a year. But it depends on how frequently you use them.

Why Do Pro Players Use Tour Velvet?

Pro golfers use tour velvet to build up a firm grip without using much pressure. This helps them to have better control of the ball.

Do Tour Velvet Or Tour Velvet 360 Have Better Water Resistance?

Tour velvet 360 provides more water resistance properties due to its overall 360 cord design pattern.

Do You Have To Tape Golf Grips?

Having a layer of grip tape on top of the grips keeps them in place and gives you a better hold on them.

More about the product

Package length – 2.6 cm.

The Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 Golf Grip is a game changer when it comes to golfing. This grip features a package length of 2.6 cm , which is super important for optimizing your golf swing . It’s like they say, size matters when it comes to golfing!

The package length of 2.6 cm is perfect for allowing you to make sure that your golf swing is as smooth as possible. The length of the grip allows you to make sure that your fingers stay in contact with the grip throughout your entire swing, meaning that you won’t have to worry about your grip slipping off. Plus, it’s comfortable to hold, so you can focus on your swing without worrying about how the grip feels.

The science behind the feature is that the length of the grip helps you to maintain a consistent grip throughout your swing. This means that you won’t have to worry about your grip slipping off or not being in the right position. It also allows for a more consistent swing, meaning you can stay focused on your technique rather than the grip.

Pro Tip: Make sure that the length of your grip is right for your hand size. If it’s too long or too short, it won’t be as effective in helping you with your swing.

Package Width – 2.7 cm

Golf Pride’s Tour Velvet 360 Golf Grip provides the ultimate in comfort and control with its 2.7 cm package width. The width of the grip is designed to fit the average size of a golfer’s hand, making it easier to hold and control your club during your swing. Jokingly, some say it’s like having a little bit of extra padding in your palm!

But the science behind this feature is simple. The Tour Velvet 360 offers superior cushioning thanks to its advanced rubber compound construction, providing an even grip pressure across your hands. This helps to reduce the tension in your hands and arms, giving you better control and accuracy over your shots.

Pro Tip: Make sure to replace your golf grips every two to three months for maximum control and comfort. Also, don’t forget to give them a quick clean before each round to get the most out of your Tour Velvet 360 grip!

Package Height – 26.8 cm

Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 Golf Grip is a great choice for golfers of all levels. It features a package height of 26.8 cm , so you can be sure that your grip will fit perfectly in your hand. This feature is important because if your grip is too large or too small, your game will suffer. It’s like the old saying: “A grip size that fits, you will hit!”

The science behind this feature is that the size of the grip helps to maintain a consistent swing plane. This is because the larger the grip, the more you have to manipulate the club face at impact, resulting in a lower launch angle and less spin.

Pro Tip: When choosing a grip size, make sure it fits comfortably in your hands. A good test is to hold the grip with your thumb and index finger around the end of the grip and then slide your hand up. If the grip feels too tight, then you need a larger size.

Product Type – SPORTING GOODS

The Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 Golf Grip is the perfect product for any golfer looking to up their game. It’s designed with a revolutionary 360-degree cord technology that ensures maximum grip and stability even in the harshest of weather conditions.

The grip also helps to reduce shock when hitting the ball, allowing for a smoother and more consistent swing. Plus, it’s made from a durable rubber material that won’t wear down easily, so you can keep playing with it for years to come.

And the best part? It’s designed to look good, too. With its sleek black and yellow design, you’ll be sure to make an impression on the course. But don’t just take our word for it, the science confirms it – the grip is designed to

  • increase club head speed
  • reduce club face rotation
  • reduce spin for greater accuracy.

Pro Tip: For even more enhanced performance, pair the Tour Velvet 360 with a Golf Pride MCC grip . With the combination of the two, you’ll be sure to take your game to the next level.

Review and Score

Our score: 95/100.

This is an amazing grip and I would give it a 95 score out of 100 . It has a great weight to it, and the fact that it can withstand humidity makes me love them even more. The texture feels quite similar to leather so my hands never felt tired while using this Grip.

Moreover, customers on Amazon all seem to have been extremely satisfied with their purchase as well with many giving 5-star ratings and comments such as “ Very impressed! Great feel & control “, “ amazing product love these grips ” ,and great quality .

Therefore, if you’re looking for something top-notch in terms of performance and looks then look no further than the Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 Golf Grips . Highly recommended!

Having used the Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 golf grip, I can confidently say that it is of great quality and provides superior feel . The grip helps to increase accuracy as well as long-term comfort during play.

Overall a highly recommended product for experienced and novice players alike!

Grip Pride Tour Velvet 360 vs. Tour Velvet Cord Grip Size

Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding grip size on a build I just did. For background, I've always used Tour Velvet 360 58 rounds on my clubs and I recently decided to make the switch to the TV BCT. I noticed that with the 58R 360, my driver always felt a little bit bigger (Tensei Pro White 70TX, which has a .640 Butt, prior to cutting to length). I have since gone to the AV Raw, which is right around .600 after cutting and this is no longer an issue. I do have a Tensei Pro Blue 80TX in my 3 wood, which is .63 or so prior to cutting to length. I went and got a digital caliper to measure prior to switching to the TV BCT so that I could get all clubs as close as I could to the same spec. The 3 wood measures .622, 2" below the end of the shaft. For this reason, I had bought a single 60R BCT and installed with one wrap of GolfWorks double sided tape. The grip is not stretched. After the install, it felt very skinny. I measured the OD of the grip 2" from the butt and I was at .898". Can anyone explain how this could happen? I am baffled how I could be below standard, 0.900".

Update to previous post :

In replacing the grips on the remaining 12 clubs in my bag, I ordered Tour Velvet Cord 58 Rounds directly from Golf Pride. Arrived in 4 days and started the process of removing the existing, stock, Tour Velvet 360 58 Rounds. Before removing, I measured each grip 2" from the butt. On the tour velvet 360's, each grip was around 0.914"-0.919". I was able to blow the grips off and reuse the tape that was on them to add some "controls" into my experiment. Put the new grips on (58R Tour Velvet Cord), ensured they were not over stretched and took a measurement. All were smaller than the 360's at 0.908"-0.911".

While this may seem like a very minor difference, I can feel it in my hands. I did take some other measurements further down the grips and noticed there is more taper in the TV cord vs. 360. The grips feel really small in the lower hand. I know I can eliminate some taper by going 1+1 (or potentially 2+1 to build up the total grip more toward the 360).

I'm just not sure why I'm below +1/64" with the cords vs. the 360's which were right at/above the +1/64th mark. Also, is the taper profile different on the 360?

TV 360 .580 standard is 52 grams and .5 gram heavier than standard TV (51.5g). The added weight comes from a slightly bigger grip. The difference between the two grips is very small.

Yeah, I used 58R BCT on all of my irons. The compound used on the BCT is definitely thinner than the 360. I measured further down the grips and the BCT were quite a bit smaller about halfway and at the end of the grip.

Situated only an hour outside of Moscow, the club features Russia’s first 18-hole championship course and will host the Staysure Tour’s VTB Russian Open Golf Championship (Senior) from August 17-19, 2018.

The Country Club combines five-star hospitality with top-quality golf in a tranquil setting close to the Russian capital, and this new partnership extends the network to 28 venues within 21 countries, across three continents.

The course itself was designed by renowned architect Robert Trent Jones II and is nestled within dense Russian forest of thick firs and birches, offering a fascinating landscape for any golfer.

In addition to golf, Moscow Country Club features a five-star hotel, cottages and townhouses to rent throughout the year, and a choice of eight restaurants for guests to enjoy.

With an indoor and outdoor pool, state-of-the-art gym, tennis courts and other leisure activities, the extensive facilities at Moscow Country Club make the venue a strong addition to European Tour Properties’ network.

David MacLaren, Head of European Tour Properties, said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Moscow Country Club as the 28th member of our network of world-class venues and particularly pleased to welcome our first Destination in Russia.

“Moscow Country Club is both a fine golf resort and an established tournament venue. Our other Venues are sure to welcome the further expansion of our network within key geographical locations worldwide.

“In August, Moscow Country Club will host the VTB Russian Open Golf Championship on the Staysure Tour and we look forward to golfers from all over the world visiting our newest Destination.”

Andrei Dukhovny, Director of the GlavUPDK affiliated Moscow Country Club, said: “We are very excited to be part of the European Tour Properties network. We are looking forward to working with their team and using their expertise to enhance our customers’ experience both on and off the course.

“Moscow Country Club is a stand-out Russian golfing destination, with the Staysure Tour set to visit in August for the VTB Russian Open Golf Championship.

  • The Best Golf Clubs in…

In Russia, the western concept of building architecturally beautiful golf courses filled with modern and luxurious amenities has found fertile ground. What was considered a frivolous pastime during the time of the Soviets has become the latest trend for the stylish set. These days, there are countless options around Moscow to practice golf, polo, ski, yachting, and other sports alongside 5-star hotels, luxurious country houses, and magnificent villas.

The game of golf is a sport that requires passion and expertise. It is also part of a culture that considers this pastime a synonym of social prestige and exclusivity. In recent years, the new Russian elite has turned to golf as a vehicle of integration in the era of globalization. Golf courses are also meeting and socializing spaces where Muscovite tycoons can relax and also seal business deals.

Golf Courses in Russia

The Moscow Country Club, Pestovo Golf & Yacht Club, Tseleevo Golf & Polo Club, and Zavidovo Golf Club, PGA National Russia are some of the most exclusive and elegant golf courses in Russia. Some of them have made it to the list of Top 15 golf clubs in the world, a source of great prestige for the country.

The Pestovo Golf & Yacht Club is 18 miles from the heart of Moscow, close to historical monuments from the 17th and 18th centuries. Designed by famed architects Paul and Dave Thomas , this 18-hole course is part of a complex that includes a yacht club, an equestrian center, and a health and wellness facility. Pestovo Golf & Yacht Club is Russia’s version of a classic country club with multiple attractions.

Located in an ecologically pristine area on the banks of the Volga River, the Zavidovo Golf Club embodies the spirit and appearance of the legendary Scottish golf courses. Its many springs and streams, hills, forests, swamps and lakes justify its reputation as a very demanding circuit. Last year, it entered the exclusive club of the 15 best golf courses in the world.   ■
