PGA TOUR Superstore Club Fitting Review: A PGA Pro’s Experience

I recently took one of my students for a full bag fitting at our local PGA TOUR Superstore in Altamonte Springs, FL. In doing so, I thought it would be a great opportunity for me to do a professional PGA TOUR Superstore Club Fitting review.

Our  PGA TOUR Superstore full bag fitting was an amazing experience for us. Our fitter, Charles Moore, was a master fitter with over 20 years of experience. He used high-end technology like the Trackman Launch Monitor and SAMPuttLab putting analysis tools and software to diagnose any issues.

The three-hour session ran through all of the clubs in Lincoln’s bag. Charles started with irons, followed by Lincoln’s putter, wedges, and finally with his woods and driver. The time flew by, and the insights we learned will surely help Lincoln going forward.

After a 3-hour fitting, a few things we learned were:

  • Change Lincoln’s 7-iron to a more upright degree to tighten his shot distribution.
  • Shorten his driver to gain more control off the tee.
  • Minor tweaks were made to his wedge lofts, gapping, and bounce.
  • The putter was looking good.

I’ve been a golf instructor for 27 years and have been certified by the PGA for 15 years, and this is my first full bag fitting. After this experience, I’m convinced that a proper fitting is something all serious golfers need to do.

The only drawback could be the cost. Individual club fittings start at $40 to $50, while a full bag fitting at PGA Tour Superstore costs $99 to $300 ( check your local PGATSS stores pricing ). The more expensive fittings use more premium technology to analyze your swing.

If you spend hundreds or thousands on golf equipment and hours at the range or course, I think most golfers will consider this a solid investment. But please read on to decide for yourself, and at the end, I dive into the specific costs.

A PGA TOUR Superstore club fitting uses readings from technology such as Trackman  and SAM PuttLab  to recommend the best way to improve issues with your game.

That was exactly what our Studio Fitter, Charles, did as we went through the fitting, starting with Lincoln’s irons and then moving on to his putter, wedges, woods, and driver.

Here is a quick bit about our Studio Fitter:  Charles is originally from Gainesville, Florida. It was clear he had a true passion for golf. In talking with him, we found out he began his golf journey at 7, and today, at age 45, he is still just as passionate. He originally got his start in the golf industry in 1995, where he worked as a caddy, and then moved into the retail space in 1999, working for a store in Myrtle Beach. Charles has been a master fitter for over 20 years  after becoming certified through major golf vendors, including Callaway, Taylormade, PING, and Titleist.

I was thoroughly impressed with the Studio Full Bag Fitting at the PGA TOUR Superstore, and I know that my student Lincoln was also. The following are the positives and negatives we both took from the experience.

  • It can help you get a good understanding of your swing tendencies
  • It can help you see where your equipment is helping you
  • It can help you see where your equipment is hurting you
  • It can instantly help you improve your game with equipment modifications
  • A fitting is not a cure-all for an ailing game, but a compliment to lessons as well as practice
  • It could be considered too expensive for some (I’ll cover the full costs below)

Lincoln and I will remember the Studio Full Bag fitting at the PGA TOUR Superstore in Altamonte Springs, FL, for years. Our fitter, Charles, shared his decades of experience and sincerely wanted to help Lincoln reach his full potential.

Additionally, all the various reports from tools like Trackman and SAMPuttLab provide a great deal of valuable information after the fitting. As a coach , that information is great for me to go through with my students after a fitting session and when we are at our next session together.

I would absolutely recommend it to anyone to go through a fitting, even if it’s not a full-bag fitting.

Lincoln will work with a 7-iron with a more upright degree to help balance his contact on the face. After looking through the SAMPuttLab reports, it was good to see that his putting and putter were right on. His wedges also looked good, with some minor suggestions to change the gapping or the distance between clubs. He could also tweak the widget lofts and bounce.

The driver fitting takes the most time, and Charles had some expert insight to share. He noticed Lincoln’s driver was too long, and this is a common problem for many golfers. He cut down his driver right there, which should immediately save Lincoln some strokes.

I’ll go into more detail as I cover each club and what was looked at and share some pictures.

“It was cool to learn about different aspects of equipment and how it can affect your game. It was very helpful and helped coach and I make  some good decisions about equipment changes I should make to help further the work we are doing together. It’s crazy that only a degree or two of lie angle can make such a big difference. Getting a fitting can help a golfer in many ways, and it might be a good idea to consider getting one done.” ~ Lincoln Nascimento [My student who received the fitting]

In our club fitting , Charles had Lincoln warm up and get loose in the hitting bay. After that, Lincoln hit several 7-irons to get some baseline numbers from Trackman . Key areas that were looked at included:

  • Where on the clubface strikes were made at impact
  • The path Lincoln was swinging as he approached the ball at impact
  • Whether his clubface was square, open, or closed at impact
  • His spin rate on shots
  • His overall shot dispersion

Once these baseline readings were made, Charles measured the lie angle of Lincoln’s 7-iron and its length . These factors often play a key role in the patterns a golfer shows in their shots.

Lincoln’s irons were pretty close to the standards for the club brand he plays.

Result: With all the information gathered, Lincoln hit a second 7-iron that was more upright than the standard . This significantly helped balance out where on the face he was making contact with the ball and tightened up his shot distribution.

Next up was the putter fitting stage of the session. The Science and Motion , or SAM PuttLab, was used in this area. This awesome technology helps take a deep dive into the dynamics of golfers’ putting and how their path and face react at impact.

putter fitting at pga tour superstore during full bag club fitting

Putting is very much an individual thing and is as much a feel and comfort thing as anything else.  If a golfer can consistently deliver the putter face squarely into the ball at impact, then how they accomplish that does not matter. What you are looking for with poor putters is issues with face control   at impact  and things like distance control.

Lincoln’s putting is consistent regarding how his face comes into the ball at impact. While there were some suggestions for putters to try, we were both pleased with how his baseline numbers looked .

Result: No changes were made to his putter.

Charles Moore, master fitter, works with golf student at launch monitor during PGA TOUR Superstore full bag club fitting

Following the putter fitting, Charles worked with Lincoln on his wedges. With a wedge fitting, like with the irons, the fitter looks first to see a player’s tendencies.

Charles had Lincoln hit several full swing, half swing, and open face lob shots with each of his wedges . Things that are being looked at with the wedges include:

  • The bounce on each wedge
  • The grind on each wedge
  • Gapping a player has between wedges
  • Club length, shaft type, and grip

Result:  Based on the findings of Lincoln’s tendencies and performance with his current wedges, some suggestions were made to slightly modify his gapping, lofts, and ever so slight changes to his bounces.

driver fitting at PGA Tour Superstore full bag club fitting using trackman hitting bays and launch monitor

The final stage of Lincoln’s full bag fitting focused on his woods and driver. Most of the time spent in this area was focused on his driver.

Once again, the process is pretty much the same as was the case with the irons and wedges. Lincoln started by getting warmed up and then proceeded to get into capturing data with his current driver.

Again, a baseline is set to see his tendencies, and then the actual fitting or suggesting of changes is made.

Key Takeaway: The biggest insight with this portion of the fitting was the massive difference between the length of a driver on the PGA TOUR vs. what the average amateur carries in their bag. The PGA TOUR average driver length is 44.75”, compared to the average amateur’s driver clocking in at 45.5” to 46.5”.

Charles quickly pointed out that most drivers are simply too long for the average golfer , which is a big reason why control is such an issue.

Result: Lincoln and I agreed, and he chopped his driver down to help gain more control off the tee.

Now, this may sound great, but what is the cost of a PGA TOUR Superstore Club Fitting? Well, types and pricing may vary depending on the store location. The following is pricing at my local store in Altamonte Springs, FL.

At stores using technology like the Trackman and SAMPuttLab, most individual club fittings range between $49 and $99. The Full Bag Fittings cost $300.

Here’s a quick breakdown:

  • A 25-minute performance evaluation for any club: $49
  • A fairway, hybrid, or wedge fitting: $59
  • A driver, iron, or putter fitting: $99
  • A Studio Full Bag Fitting (3 hours): $300

At stores that don’t use as expensive technology, you’ll pay around $40 for an individual club fitting. The Full Bag Fittings cost $99.

Club Fittings to Consider:

Our fitter, Charles, walked us through a prioritized list of clubs you should get a fitting for if you couldn’t afford a full bag fitting or just need help with one or two clubs.

Each store has varying options and prices, so check the offerings and prices at your local store . You can book a reservation now if you’re ready.

I always believed that combining regular golf instruction and club fitting could pay big dividends to any golfer. After going through a full-bag three-hour fitting session at the PGA TOUR Superstore, I am now convinced that a proper fitting is something that all serious golfers need to do.

Golf equipment off the shelf or purchased online is not one-size-fits-all.

  • Having clubs that are too long, too heavy, or don’t have the right lie angle can absolutely cost you strokes.
  • Having a toe-hang putter, when you are better off with a face-balanced one, can cost you strokes.
  • Having wedges with improper gapping or an incorrect bounce can also cost you strokes.

Getting a proper fitting done can truly help your game.

Alyssa Hockenbury general manager of PGA Tour Superstore in Alamonte Springs, Florida

“Regardless of your level of play, getting custom-fit golf clubs offers some key advantages. From drivers to putters, it’s important that each club in the bag adds to a player’s skills while compensating for their tendencies. It is far better to improve your game using golf clubs that match your swing characteristics and don’t impede your improvement.” Alyssa Hockenbury, General Manager of PGA TOUR Superstore in Altamonte Springs, FL

PGA TOUR Superstore uses varies types of high-quality launch monitors by Trackman and Foresight GC2s. Both are premium launch monitors professional golfers use to track and improve their swing. Trackman is the leader in the launch monitor sector of the game. The data from the Trackman monitors at the PGA TOUR Superstore are very accurate.

PGA TOUR Superstore is owned and operated by Arthur Blank, the co-founder of Home Depot. Blank is also the owner of the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United FC.

Employees of the PGA TOUR Superstore do not make commissions. Sales associates won’t try to pressure you for a sale to make a commission. Glassdoor.com says they make between $40 and $63K annually regardless. Indeed.com states Retail Sales Associates make around $14 per hour.

You can try out a large selection of irons and other clubs at the PGA TOUR Superstore. The best way to truly see what clubs may be best for you is to get a fitting while there. If you are buying clubs, you can get a basic fitting for free as the associate helps you find the right clubs.

You can get free fittings at PGA TOUR Superstores if you are buying clubs from them. A rep will let you test out the equipment in the hitting bays and help you find the right clubs to fit your swing tendencies. But it won’t be as in-depth as a full-bag club fitting. Pricing varies by location, but you can review the prices at your local PGATSS and book a reservation online.

I hope this PGA TOUR Superstore Club Fitting review has proven helpful for you. It is crazy to me, after 27 years working in the golf business and the last 15 years as a PGA Professional, that I have never watched a full bag fitting in its entirety.

When I left the fitting my student Lincoln went through at the PGA TOUR Superstore, my appreciation for the work club fitters do to help people enjoy the game more grew by leaps and bounds. I sincerely appreciated my experience at the PGATSS and know my student also gained a great deal from it.

If you have been on the fence about getting professionally fit for golf equipment, I will say this… don’t hesitate any longer, as a fitting can be what your game has been looking for.

Hi, was wondering if anyone has done an iron fitting “studio fitting” at PGA superstore? Biggest question is just what shaft options they had. If it’s just the stock options for that brand or upgraded options. Thanks!

I’ve done the Tour van fitting with them 6 years ago. They have whatever shafts are in the manufacturers matrix. That will include the no upcharge shafts along with the upcharge ones, but if it’s a shaft like say they ventus red and a titleist driver then they won’t have it because only ventus blue and black are in the titleist matrix.

I was utilizing every resource I could go to in time for my T100 - S fitting.  Between Golf Galaxy and PGA Superstore, they had the shafts I was looking for.  Both had 3 of the iron shafts that I wanted to hit in X flex.  There could have been more if it was Stiff or Regular flex.

Usually driver shafts are the made for options with one or two exotic options by brand.

If you aren't interested in exotic shafts, you should be ok.  At times, they do not concentrate on lie and length as much as they should.  It may surprise you what some of those adjustments can do for you rather than just switching to another shaft/clubhead.

Thank you both for the info, I’ve been trying to decide where to go for the fitting and as I’ve read on here about the insane shaft charges from club champion I was looking at other options. Just didn’t know if PGA had multiple options or stock. Also looking to get into the new t series irons and definitely don’t need any crazy exotic shafts (currently play modus pro 120 s)

You don’t have to buy from club champion. You also don’t have to only be fit into the aftermarket shafts from them.

Club champion is a fitting facility and that’s what you initially pay for. They also offer club building services which is a separate cost.

If you communicate to the fitter what your budget is they will stay within in that. If you don’t have a budget then they have lots of options to try and find a fit, doesn’t mean you will hit every shaft and em head combo they have.

You will get your fitting specs from them and you can order from wherever you want after that.

Very few made for shafts exists for drivers and woods. Ventus non velocore in tm and tour edge, a couple of the Mitsubishi shafts but outside of that the shafts that are in the fitting carts are the real deal shafts. The fitting carts have a limited number of the upcharge shafts for each brand because of limited space inside the fitting carts. Where as if someone went to a demo day for a manufacturer the rep is going to have a larger selection of all shafts within that manufacturers matrix

I am more meaning the no upcharge shafts - bad wording on my part.

I would suggest doing a little research into what folks have to say about any of the club fitting businesses you are considering and, specifically, who on their staff is highly regarded.  The attraction to the mega-stores is that they offer so many combinations but making sure you get a skilled fitter is the most important part IMO.  Those that know their craft will quickly size you up and get you testing the most appropriate heads and shafts.

Once your fitting is complete and you have the build data, there are many lower cost places to have custom clubs built.  I was fitting at True Spec and had my clubs built by Fairway Jockey - saving over $800.

Clubfitter Directory

Where to Get Fit: America's Best Clubfitters

/content/dam/images/golfdigest/fullset/2023/7/Best-Clubfitters-23-24.png

Our 2023-24 list of America’s 100 Best Clubfitters, which first debuted in 2011, considers all sorts of facilities that offer clubfitting access to the general public. Those include independent shops, practice ranges and full-service performance centers, large retail stores, resorts, golf courses and national chains. More than 1,000 facilities were reviewed, which included nomination forms that detailed each facility’s resources, tools, expertise and fitting methodolgy. We also conducted a poll of leading equipment-company experts and our nationwide panel of more than 2,000 Golf Digest course-ranking panelists. In addition, for the first time ever, an online poll of Golf Digest subscribers generated nearly 10,000 votes. Those facilities earning the highest marks are highlighted here in two categories: The state-by-state heading lists 100 independent, local operations. Also listed under each state, we include the top rated individual stores for several national brands.

What should you look for in a good clubfitting operation? First, an array of manufacturers to choose from. It’s what is known in the industry as being “brand agnostic.” Second, insist on expertise with modern clubfitting technology. That means launch monitors and other measurement devices that detail what each tweak does to a club’s performance, not just on one hit but for the average of your best and less-than-best strikes.

Third, and maybe most important, find the fitter who is asking and listening more than he or she is selling. The right-fitting clubs don’t always require a purchase, but they do require someone dedicated to your best interests.

Related: Your Ultimate Guide To Finding A Better Game

There is no question fitting has become one of the most important innovations in golf over the last two decades. A recent study by Golf Datatech found that 94 percent of those who've been fit for their clubs 94 percent of those said they were at least “satisfied” with their most recent fitting. Still not convinced that a fitting is right for you? We had some expert fitters whose facilities have been on our Best Clubfitters list every year since its inception, answer a few common questions.

I’m not a good enough player to be fit, right? How can you tell what’s right for me when I don’t make consistent swings?

I love this question!! My first response is how do you know it’s not the equipment that causing the inconsistency? Secondly, I admit the pros should be the most consistent of any golfer but when you watch tournament coverage you can see any pro on any given day guide a ball into the trees, hit one short to the green or even miss a 4 footer. A fitting is not based on one shot with a clubs it is an average of shots. A good fitter should be able to isolate the extraordinary shots, good or bad to ensure you get the right spec for new stix.— Jim McCleery, McGolf Custom Clubs, Waverly, Ohio

If I got fit for my driver by a 100 Best Clubfitter a year ago, is there any reason to get fit for another new driver this year? What if I was fit three years ago? Five years ago?

I believe you get fit when you feel like you are not getting the most out of your equipment. If that’s a year, then yes get fit, but more likely it’s going to be every 3 or 5 years. Sometimes even though you don’t feel you are getting everything from your clubs you truly are and at least the fitting will confirm that, and you can have the confidence that you are playing the very best. That said, over a three week period last year, we tested every piece of new equipment with 20 golfers varying in handicap most of whom had recently been fit. We found that in each category: driver, fairway woods, hybrids, irons, wedges, and putters, there was always one piece of new gear that provided an improvement over a golfer's existing equipment.— Nick Sherburne, Club Champion

Why would I not choose the driver that produced the single longest hit of all the clubs I tried?

Golf is not a home run sport. Example my longest driver A is 280 and my average drive is 250. With driver B my longest drive is 270 but my average is 260 I will give the player Driver B all day. But more importantly what is the dispersion, drives that land in the fairway consistently, roll father and make the game easier. Launch monitors give the same roll to the shots that go straight and the one’s that would have gone out of bounds. — Woody Lashen, Pete’s Golf, Mineola, N.Y.

I know my specs, know what I like. What are you going to tell me that I don’t already know?

A lot!! First of all are you aware that your “specs” may or may not apply to specific clubs you are looking to purchase. “Specs” are not the same from brand to brand and even within the same manufacturer depending upon model the “Specs” may not be the same. As such, I could tell a prospective fitting customer “a lot” that thinks they know their “specs”, but better than tell them I could show any player within a few minutes how their “specs” may not be what they actually want to purchase. Moreover, even if they think they know what they like—have they tried everything to know for certain that what they think they like is actually what is right for them. There are so many different models and aftermarket shafts that it is unlikely a player who thinks they know what they want has actually tried other models and/or shafts that might be even better for them. — Craig Zimmerman, Redtail Golf Center, Beaverton, Ore.

There you have it. The value of a fitting is undeniable. The list below is a great place to take advantage of all that untapped potential waiting for you (and your fitter) to discover.

Facilities listed alphabetically by city within each state, independent shops followed by national chains. Only specifically designated locations earned "America's Best Clubfitters" award.

PGA Superstore Fitting

Want to get a driver fitting before making a new purchase. Anyone have experience with PGA Superstore?

My main question is if they'd have access to exotic shafts or are you limited to what the manufacturer offers? I don't remember seeing loose shafts at their store so would like to get fitted with as many shaft options as possible.

If you do the Studio Fitting / Tour Van Fitting, they have exotic shafts that are available for an upcharge with manufacturers (Graphite Design, Fuji Ventus VeloCore, Oban, VA Composites, MCA, etc .

Most of my PGA.SS experience has been with a major shop in Myrtle Beach. Visited in three different years.   I found it was a crap shoot, influenced by time (late morning Tuesday😃 vs. Saturd

It's a crap shoot as to whether your fitter knows what the hell they're doing or if they have a decent selection on shafts.

I know mine isn't that great.

So they have those in the store to demo?

Only with their paid Studio Fitting / Tour Van Fitting.

Not if you just go there and ask one of the store associates to try out clubs. Only stock offerings are available for that.

3PuttLefty

Ill back the “only studio fitting”. If u purchase clubs its free. If not and you plan on ordering online its still worth

NewToGolf19

At our local PGATSS, you still have to pay the fitting fee whether you buy any clubs or not. This changed in the last year or so. My experience was suboptimal. The fitter let me try the stock stiff and stock regular shafts (one of each) only. I hope this is fitter dependent and others have had better experiences.

I’ve done two fittings at PGASS. One was absolute trash and other was decent. They refunded me $50 from the bad one. Like any place you go, the fitter will determine if the fee was a good value.

I think you're conflating 2 different "fittings".

Most are salesmen simply allowing customers to try out a driver in a launch monitor. Switch out the stock shafts a bit, possibly an upcharge exotic or 2, and off you go - those "demos" do not cost anything.

Then there's the scheduled fitting. This guy's a true fitter and, as mentioned above, has a plethora of exotic shafts.

I think, at one time, the 2nd type, did credit you the fitting fee if you bought, but now ? Not so sure. PGATSS has been slowly nickel and diming customers on their policies.

@nsxguy  mine was a scheduled, paid fitting with the “master fitter” but basically no different than trying a couple clubs off the rack. Probably best to get local reviews or feedback before scheduling.

Yeah, I get it.

But remember, the salesmen are there to just let you try stuff.

The fitter is supposed to know what he's doing. He'll analyze your movements, make hosel adjustments, pick out shafts that might fit you better, and pay more attention to results.

The salesmen run the gamut. They'll sometimes spend from a little to a lot of time with you, maybe experiment a bit, but are there mostly to go "Ohhh, that one was special" and then to tell you which one you hit best (in case you couldn't figure it out yourself).

:classic_cool:

If your PGA SS has a ‘tour experience’ option, there should be a full suite of shafts available (likely almost as much as Club Champion).  But this is an important pre-req

11 hours ago, RainShadow said: It's a crap shoot as to whether your fitter knows what the hell they're doing or if they have a decent selection on shafts.

Most of my PGA.SS experience has been with a major shop in Myrtle Beach. Visited in three different years.

I found it was a crap shoot, influenced by time (late morning Tuesday 😃 vs. Saturday afternoon 🙄 ) and attitude and status (FT vs. PT) of fitter.

In some golf shops, you can see on the Trackman area wall the certificates of the fitters. Have they taken the GolfWorks general courses, or more specific OEM (Titleist, Callaway) fitting courses?

And, it can vary within a shop. A shop that I frequent has several good fitters, plus a couple that are... meh!

Also, don't forget...

Wedges*:   Calla MD3: 48 ° ... MD4: 54 ° , 58 °   ||    Putter Ψ :  SeeMore FGP + SuperStroke 1.0PT, 33" shaft

Ball:  1. Srixon Q-Star Tour / 2. Calla SuperHot (Orange preferred)  ||    Bag: Sun Mountain Three 5 stand bag

    * MD4 54°/10 S-Grind replaced MD3 54 ° /12 W-Grind .

      Ψ    Backups:

  • Ping Sigma G Tyne (face-balanced) + Evnroll Gravity Grip |
  • Slotline Inertial SL-583F w/ SuperStroke 2.MidSlim (50 gr. weight removed) |

No matter where you go, the key to ANY club fitting is the fitter.  Taking pot luck at any big box store, even for a “studio fitting” is risky business.  Better by far than a store employee and stock options only, but not nearly as good as working with someone who has been recommended to you, and who does club fitting as their main (or only!) job.

Golftec vs PGA Superstore Fitting: Which is Better?

The golf lifestyle…

We are talking about everything from golf clubs to balls, launch monitors, rangefinders, simulators, shoes, bags, apparel, memorabilia, and accessories.

Golftec and PGA Tour Superstore are a few of the many golf retailers that provide golf-style products.

They rank among the top brand choices for golf enthusiasts and are available in many locations.

They each have some unique perks that make them stand out from each other, and that is what will be discussed here.

PGA Tour Superstore is more premium-like than Golftec, but each has relatively the same price for the services they offer.

Golftec is a subsidiary company of Dick’s Sporting Goods, a sporting goods retail company that has been around since the early 90s.

PGA Tour Superstore was founded in 2003, it is by a long-range younger than Golftec but has seen exponential growth over the years.

The main difference between Golftec and PGA Tour Superstore will be the number of locations they’re available in.

Golftec has 35 stores and PGA has 22, both brands are spread around The States – but they also have online stores.

This means you are more likely to come across a Golftec store than a PGA Superstore, and Golftec probably has more exposure and a higher chance of risk than PGA.

The retail brands also offer fitting services at their various locations but Golftec also gives you the option of scheduling an online session.

Fitting Services from Both Brands

PGA Superstore provides fewer fitting services than Golftec: putter, golf ball, wedge, iron, and driver fitting, and an upgraded fitting experience via the PGA Tour Superstore studio.

Golftec has a more flexible range of choices which includes the services offered by PGA Superstore and a bit more: hybrid analysis, shaft fitting, grip fitting analysis, club comparison, and a virtual club advisor.

Apart from selling clubheads, and golf balls, and offering fitting services, both brands also offer apparel, accessories, and even shoes.

The price between the two retailers is fairly compatible, especially within the apparel range.

Brand Recognition

Golftec has a greater brand recognition than PGA Superstore in general.

PGA is reported to have more convenient customer support and also offers zip financing and international shipping policies which Golftec doesn’t.

PGA also doesn’t accept PayPal payments and modification of policies which Golftec gives the liberty to.

Both brands offer frequent discounts and promotions during holidays or festive sessions, one might watch out for those.

Fitting Experience

When it comes to fitting experience, PGA Tour Superstore has an ace here with their PGA fitting van.

It is a private session with a PGA fitter aimed at delivering a totally immersive fitting session.

This custom club fitting will be able to help you get the most out of your game.

Golftec vs PGA Superstore Lessons

Golftec vs PGA Superstore

PGA Superstore Lessons

If you have PGA Superstores in your locality, you can check them out. They should have video recording, swing analysis, launch monitor and a lot of other lessons that’ll help you get better at the game.

The price could be as much as $300, which will include all of these lessons in a simulator, for 45 minutes.

GolfTec Lessons

GolfTec has a similar spec but isn’t as expansive and sophisticated. For one, you may not get to practice in a simulator, which might be okay with some people.

They lack in a few other things but the one that strikes the most is that they might be more expensive. A user reports $400 for 30-minute lessons, which doesn’t include $100 for them to analyze your swing.

Golftec vs PGA Superstore Fitting: Making Your CHOICE

Concluding, Golftec as a brand has a bigger reputation than PGA, but the latter is just as competent.

Also, each brand might have some unique set of collections in their memorabilia sections like autographed shirts, balls, clubs, etc, course maps, and many others.

PGA seems to have a larger collection here.

Scheduled an iron fitting with Michael Anthony since I heard a ton of great reviews about him on here. Besides me being 10-15 minutes late coming from San Francisco, Michael was able to accommodate me and didn't rush the process. We started out discussing what clubs I use, what I'm trying to get out of my game, and long term/short term goals. This was my first fitting experience and I can say I will be back again at this store for more fittings with him. He had me swing my current irons and right off the bat came to the conclusion that my swing speed (~86mph-88 mph) was too fast for my current graphite shafts. We began trying out heavier shafts weights and the Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S300 120 grams was better suitable for me. We demoed around 5-6 shafts and about 3-4 iron head swaps to get enough results about my swing and ball flight. He mentioned my TM stealths are very forgiving, but my performance with the Ai Smoke iron was significantly better for the long term and what I wanted to achieve in my game. He showed me in the trackman that I gained about 10 yards off the Ai Smokes and reduced around 2k plus in spin rate. I loved all the metrics and it helped inform me to make a better decision with what to invest in for irons. Michael was very knowledgeable and professional about all the data and metrics involved. It was everything I expected in a fitting experience and he delivered. I will look forward to booking my driver fitting with him in a month or so. Thanks for the knowledge and insight on my iron game Michael!

Had a great fitting experience with Michael Anthony. He invested the time to work through a number of options and then analyzed the Trackman data to show me which club produced the best results. Michael is experienced and had good instincts to make a quick change when a club was not right for my swing and move on to a more promising option. In the end I was very happy with the choices we landed on. A+ customer service Michael.

This store is huge with a great selection of equipment for golfing. It is part of a strip mall and plenty of free parking. Service is wonderful as my questions get answered by staff. There are some indoor digital driving range which is nice to get some practice in. They have affordable daily rates but the best would be the annual membership which allows you to go everyday at any store location in the area.

I had a fantastic experience at Golf Galaxy with Federico. He helped me find a new set of clubs that fit perfectly. Federico was incredibly informative, explaining the differences between various options and educating me on the intricacies of golf equipment. His expertise and dedication made the whole process smooth and enjoyable. Highly recommend seeking him out for any golf needs!

I recently had a club fitting at the PGA Tour Super Store with Michael Anthony, and I must say it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. Michael's friendly demeanor and extensive knowledge of golf immediately put me at ease. He took the time to understand my game, skill level, and goals, ensuring that the clubs I would be fitted for would be a perfect match. The club fitting process itself was top-notch. Michael's attention to detail and expertise were evident as he meticulously analyzed my swing, measured my club speed, and evaluated my ball flight. He carefully explained the data and used it to make precise adjustments to find the optimal specifications for my clubs. What made my experience truly exceptional was Michael's willingness to go above and beyond. He didn't just focus on the fitting itself; he took the time to answer any questions I had about golf in general, offering valuable insights and tips. His genuine passion for the game shone through, and it was evident that he genuinely cared about helping me improve my overall game. I highly recommend scheduling a club fitting with Michael Anthony at PGA Tour Super Store to anyone in search of personalized attention, exceptional knowledge, and outstanding service.

Adam- Thank you for leaving such a great review! We appreciate your kind words and will be sure to share this with Michael Anthony and the rest of the team!

Recently had another fitting with Michael at PGA Cupertino for a Stealth2 + driver. As always he did a great job getting me fit into something that works for me. After a couple months of use, my driver head decided it wanted to fall apart. I got in contact with Michael and both Michael and the AGM Kate were able to get me squared away quickly. The customer service that I have received over the past couple months from this store has been amazing. the staff there is always willing to help and go above and beyond to answer questions and make you feel comfortable in the store. If you're looking to buy new clubs, get fitted. You dont realize how much you gain from a good fitting. I will continue to spend time with Michael in the fitting bay any time I plan on purchasing new equipment. This includes balls. Thank you Michael, Kate and the rest of the PGA staff.

I had an exceptional iron fitting experience at the PGA Superstore with Michael! I came in with a specific plan in mind, and Michael went above and beyond to ensure I got the perfect fit for my swing. His wealth of knowledge not only helped me find the perfect set for my swing but also taught me a lot along the way. Plus, he helped me save some cash with his recommendations! I couldn't be happier with the fitting and outcome. I look forward to returning for a driver fitting. Highly recommend!

Super nice golf store and the staff. I went there to try out the clubs in the virtual driving range. So many selections to choose or just windows shopping. Love this place

Photo of Darwin H.

Every time I come here I'm treated like a burden, my questions are looked down upon, I get eye rolls, and terrible body language. From the with the slick back hair, raspy voice, and his condescending attitude toward customers. To the fitter who couldn't be bothered by " stupid questions" I'm from Cupertino so when this place opened I was very excited! Now I'm very disappointed in how this place turned out.

I was in need of a new driver and shaft fitting and wanted something custom since I had been playing a hand me down from 2014 with a stock shaft. Decided to see Michael at the Studio and I HIGHLY recommend you go see him also. He was highly knowledgeable and fun to work with because of his desire to let you choose your own setup. Everything was based on what trackman numbers looked best across a variety of exotic shafts and newest model drivers. His attention to detail and knowledge of fittings landed me with a driver/shaft that I not only love the look of, but straight up BOMB and hit straighter than my previous setup. I gained about 10-20 yards with better dispersion compared to my stock setup. Thanks again Michael!!! Fairway wood fitting next. ESSGETTITTT Jack 4 handicap

How it works: Each week, our experts from PGATOUR.COM will make their selections in PGA TOUR Fantasy Golf. Each lineup consists of four starters and two bench players that can be rotated after each round. Adding to the challenge is that every golfer can be used only three times per each of four Segments.

Aside from the experts below, Golfbet Insider Rob Bolton breaks down the field at the 3M Open in this week's edition of Power Rankings.

Betting picks

Odds were sourced on Tuesday, July 23. For live odds, visit BetMGM .

WILL GRAY (Lead, Fantasy & Betting)

  • Winner: J.T. Poston (+3000) – If you can shoot low enough to win the John Deere, you can hang at TPC Twin Cities. Poston’s made cut streak ended at Royal Troon but he was a runner-up here a year ago.
  • Top 10: Maverick McNealy (+450) – This is the part of the season when FedExCup standing takes center stage, and McNealy is precariously positioned at No. 67. A big week in the Land of 10,000 Lakes will solidify his FedExCup Playoffs standing – even if I’m not super confident in him grabbing the trophy.
  • Longshot: Pierceson Coody (+10000) – I’ll take a stab with half of the Coody twins, as Pierceson lost a playoff at the ISCO Championship in his most recent start. He has a ton of potential and could be knocking on the door of a maiden win again soon.
  • H2H: Billy Horschel (-120) over Tom Hoge – Horschel is rolling right along after his Open runner-up, while Hoge has struggled recently in most facets of his game outside of his stellar approach play. Plus I give Horschel a sentimental edge since we shared a pre-dawn flight from Glasgow after The Open.

BEN EVERILL (Senior writer, Fantasy & Betting)

  • Winner: Tony Finau (+1000) – Despite last week's disappointing effort when I thought he was a winner in the making, I’ll head back to the well on Tony and take him where he’s proven.
  • Top 10: Cam Davis (+333) – Summertime is Davis time most years and this season it proves true once more. Recent win kickstarts a run.
  • Longshot: Thriston Lawrence (+6600) – Go with the hot hand despite his heartache at The Open. Showed he belongs on the big stage last week and now can push towards joining the TOUR more often next season.
  • H2H: Taylor Pendrith (+100) over Clanton – Big-hitting experience over big-balling youth.

CHRIS BREECE (Senior content manager, Golfbet)

  • Winner: Sahith Theegala (+2200) – I won’t let a bad week at The Open Championship make me overlook Theegala, who finished T4 at the Genesis Scottish Open just the week before. In the last three years at the 3M Open, 13 of the 17 players who finished top five and ties either missed the cut at The Open or did not play. Theegala has more in the tank than a lot of others.
  • Top 10: Keith Mitchell (+275) – Call it a down year for Mitchell- but he still has three top 10 finishes. The putter is the only club holding him back. He’s top 10 on TOUR for both off the tee and approach. Figure out the putter well enough, and a top 10 shouldn’t be hard for a guy who has gone fifth-T5 in his last two times at TPC Twin Cities.
  • Longshot: Doug Ghim (+6600) – Ghim has two top-20 finishes here in the last four years. His approach game has been among the best on TOUR statistically (ninth in SG: Approach). Just like with Mitchell, all it takes is one hot week with the putter.
  • H2H: Erik Van Rooyen (-120) over Patrick Rodgers – The stats lean van Rooyen over Rodgers here. He tends to play his best when it’s a birdie-fest.

MATT DELVECCHIO (Social content manager, Fantasy & Betting)

  • Winner: Tom Hoge (+3000) – There's no better place than TPC Twin Cities for Hoge to get back into February form. Made the cut at The Open last week but most notably, T3 at the Travelers. Has good history here in Minnesota (T20, T4 in the last two years) and is one of the best approach players on TOUR. Expect Hoge to fill up the board with birdies and contend down the stretch on Sunday.
  • Top 10: Jake Knapp (+550) – Bombers have shown some success here at the 3M Open. We’ve also seen the emergence of young star talent. This year, it’ll be Knapp fitting that mold. TPC Twin Cities is comparable to Florida courses with a lot of water, a stretch of golf where Knapp played well this year going T4 at PGA National and making cuts at both the Arnold Palmer Invitational and THE PLAYERS.
  • Longshot: Michael Thorbjornsen (+6000) – Bound to break through soon, this is a week where Thorbjornsen can really get his game going. Just came IN T2 not too long ago at the John Deere Classic birdie fest.
  • H2H: Tom Hoge (-105) over Billy Horschel – Outside the fact that I like Hoge this week, I also see a big hangover coming for an emotional battle that Horschel put up last week. It’ll be hard for him to jump right back into competition.
