Tried a few..

I have an '07 Elec. Glide that I have put a lot of money in to get to to run right. I owned an '09 Vision and enjoyed it but lack of dealerships made me trade it in on an '11 Kawasaki Voyage. I looked at the Road Glide Ultra loaded out, but the $25000.00 price tag turned me of knowing what I was ... going to spend to make it run right. Thus I decided on the Voyager. I have put Vance & Hines exhaust, K & N air filter, Fuel commander & Mustang seat. All for under $1200. I have over put over 5000 miles on this bike and it runs strong, sheds wind well and is very reliable. I picked it up for nearly $9000 less than the H.D. this is a lot of bike for the money.

2012 black/grey Voyager

I have had my 2012 for a month now and ave 1300 mile on it. At first I wasn't thrilled with the mileage, but the more miles I put on the better it gets, now averaging low 40's. I have the ABS, best purchase I've made, awesome brakes. I think the ride and handling are right on.

Anybody that has had the itch to just strap on their helmets and heed the call of the open road, the Kawasaki Vulcan 1700 Voyager->ke1749 is the perfect bike to scratch it.

Complete with all the full-dress amenities that have become necessary to keep riders and passengers comfortable on long journeys, the 1700 Voyager blends muscle car-inspired styling with a powerful engine that helps eat up the miles, delivering a memorable experience that riders always crave in an all-powerful touring bike.

As far as it's design, the 1700 Voyager is the picture of aggressive functionality, featuring a large frame-mounted fairing, beautifully integrated luggage that stows a week’s worth of gear, a comfortable saddle, electronic cruise control, a high-fidelity sound system, and an optional K-ACT anti-lock/integrated braking system, among other things.

Giving the 1700 Voyager the perfect design balance with its up-standard performance characteristics, Kawasaki->ke299 fitted the touring bike with a smooth and torquey 1,700cc V-twin engine that features liquid cooling, four-valve cylinder heads, and a single overhead cam that's been setup for big-time mid-range power. The Voyager also has a fuel injection and exhaust systems that have been tuned to deliver peak torque and horsepower at slightly higher rpm than the Classic models, which is optimal for an open-road tourer.

Additional touring functionality for the 1700 Voyager is provided by the Voyager’s beefy but easy-to-squeeze clutch, which features six damping springs and progressive three-stage engagement for easier shifting under hard acceleration.

Technological features are also a big part of the touring bike's overall package, including a fully electronic throttle valve system, which works in concert with the Voyager’s Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system to enhance engine response without dulling the big Vee’s distinctive throb.

-Single-pin crank accentuates the engine’s V-twin character by providing stronger power pulses

-Large capacity airbox is located on both sides of the engine

-Small-diameter iridium sparkplugs reach deep into the combustion chamber for high combustion efficiency, especially during low-load operation

-Dual mufflers, one on each side of the bike, allow maximum clearance for luggage

-Engine tuning offers superior acceleration in the 50 to 70 mph range

-Even in overdrive, the engine pulls strongly in this speed range, facilitating overtaking at highway speeds

Chassis/Suspension

-A more compact package than its predecessors, the Voyager has a shorter wheelbase and shorter distance between the seat and steering head, for improved rider ergonomics and easier maneuverability

-Designed to be as light and slim as possible, the frame minimizes the number of forged parts and trims any unnecessary metal. The only forged parts are areas that require additional strength – the down-tube joint, engine brackets, side-stand bracket, and rear fender/shock absorber bracket

-The compact design contributes to light handling and facilitates handling at low speeds, especially when executing precise slow-speed maneuvers like parking or making U-turns

-Features air-adjustable spring preload to help compensate for passenger and luggage variations

-4-way rebound damping adjustments help the shocks compensate for changes in spring pressure

-Voyager-specific settings match the load carrying and long distance touring requirements inherent in this type of motorcycle

Classic Retro Dashboard

-Instrument layout and large round dials give the Voyager’s console a classic automotive elegance, which is reinforced by the font used in the instrumentation

-Even the radio has a classic look, reminiscent of the 1960s

-Multi-function LCD display in the center of the instrument console is controlled by switches on the right handlebar. Features include a gear position indicator, fuel gauge, clock, odometer, dual trip meters, remaining range and average fuel consumption

-Analog displays include speedometer, tachometer and coolant temperature gauge

-Audio system with twin speakers features radio (FM/AM/WX) and compatibility with optional iPod®, XM tuner or CB radio units

-The audio system (and iPod) can be operated by switches on the left handlebar

Headlight relay

Can someone help advise where I can find the headlight relay on my 2009 VN900... My headlight stopped working today and I'll be trying a new bulb (even though existing one looks OK). Already tried a new fuse. So if those fail, I'll be checking my stator fuction and my relay.... but coudln't find anything the repair guide or on the site about exactly where the relay is, how to identify it and what part number relay I need to use as a replacement. Appreciate the help! Thanks!  

Check your charging voltage at the battery first. See stator sticky above. Post back with any questions.  

Already read through stator sticky and have the charging tests covered (sorry - didn't make that clear in my post), as well as fuse and bulb. So what I am still asking is where can I find the relay so I can start checking that next.. From what I *think* I am seeing inthe schematics at Bike Bandit, it's in a sealed relay box, and you have to change the whole box.. Any thoughts on how I can test the relay function to verify if that's truly where the problem is... Thanks!  

Charging system working as designed. No power to the plug for the headlight. Power at the leads from the headlight going into relay box. Fuse OK. power at the switch on the handlebar in both low/hi positions when running. So, I went ahead and ordered a new relay box from Bike Bandit so I can see if this is the culprit. If it's not then I don't know why I'm not getting power to the headlights. Everything else it perfectly fine.  

If you have 12v on the blue/yellow wire on the dimmer switch, then relay box is ok. If you want to troubleshoot farther, post back.  

Interestingly enough I questioned the voltage too.. And the light came back on while riding home! So I questioned the relay and inspected the switch again. What I found was that one wire was melted to another and the post was loose at the solder joint. A little wiggle and the light flickers. Ah ha!! So the good news is I don't need a new relay box. The bad news is the darn left control housing comes as an accy. and cost nearly 200 expedited. So I took the bad assay. out tonight and will anxiously await a new one to arrive next week! While my tank is off I will take the time to put in a cobra fuel processor... What the heck... I am planning pipes soon anyway!!  

Good find! More importantly, while the tank is off, are you due for a valve check?  

Bike has less than 4k miles. Not time yet I don't think...  

Better consult your owners manual. Factory recommends a check fairly early because this is when the most valve train break-in/wear occurs. After that, the mileage interval gets longer.  

Kawasaki Factory Manual states 15k in the periodic maintenance chart in section 2-3. However, I know my bike was checked at 3500k as part of my initial purchase.... nothing to do now...  

Then you are good to go.  

As soon as I get my replacement housing assy!! ;-) At least for a little while I'll be good to go!! haha.
