Azura offers an incredible choice of bars, restaurants, sports and spa facilities and entertainment, plus lots of other exciting and unique features. There are 1557 staterooms on board, with the largest being the Penthouse Suites. At the heart of Azura cruise ship is her atrium, a very social venue located over three magnificent decks, with a café, art gallery, bookshop, library and shopping. In the evenings you are invited to take your partner and dance the night away on a beautifully polished dance floor. Dancing is very popular on this ship, and it has 3 different dance floors as well as ballroom dancing lessons. The music and dance theme continues in The Playhouse theatre with West End style shows, and in Manhattan, Azuras New York inspired show lounge. Also in the evenings guests can enjoy watching a movie on the outdoor LED screen, trying their luck at the casino, or checking out one of the lounges and bars on board, most of which that offer live entertainment. During the day, guests can enjoy time at the Spa and Health Club, the Terrace pool, gymnasium, or one of the sports courts or golf net cages. The Retreat is an alfresco spa terrace designed exclusively for adults, offering treatments under airy cabanas and beneath moonlit skies. Azuras Spa Staterooms offer priority access to these facilities and for independent travelers, theres perfectly proportioned single staterooms. On Lido Deck, Sea Screen is an open air cinema screening comedy classics, British film favorites and Hollywood blockbusters. Children will enjoy time at their own kids and teens clubs that offer supervised age-appropriate activities as well as separate kids venues (The Beach Hut; Frontiers; The Hub; The Sea Bed), and a video arcade and lounge. Dining also takes center stage on board. In addition to three main restaurants offering a choice of Club Dining - the same table at the same time each evening, and Freedom Dining - no fixed seating or dining times, theres the opportunity to visit the Select Dining venues of Sindhu; the first restaurant at sea from Michelin starred chef Atul Kochhar, Seventeen; where a sense of occasion is always on the menu, and The Glass House, a wine bar and restaurant created in partnership with TVs Olly Smith. For more casual options, there is also the Poolside Grill, the Verona Food Court, and the pizza and ice cream bar as well as 24-hour room service. In 2015, the ship underwent a refurbishment that brought new water pipes, and new furnishings in the corridors, staircases, and main restaurants; and the ships hull was repainted as part of a fleet-wise rebranding.

About P&O Cruises
P&O Cruises has been well known and loved in the UK for 175 years. Since 2015, the cruise line has also become increasingly established on the German market. Guests appreciate the traditional high sea experience with a typically British flair. Knowledge of the English language is important to get on board. The fleet of P&O Cruises is child friendly, except the M / S Arcadia and the M / S Oriana that are ships for adults only. The board currency on all ships is the British pound.
The M / S Azura is one of the larger vessels of the cruise line and can accommodate up to 3100 passengers (with double occupancy). The 290 m long ship was last modernized in 2018, after the maiden voyage took place in 2010. A wide range of bars, restaurants, sports and spa facilities as well as various entertainment options will not leave boredom aboard.
On board the Azura all common cabin categories, from the inside cabin to the suite are available. The cabins are spacious and modern equipped, with a TV, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and other amenities. The single beds can be converted into a king size bed. The inside and outside cabins cabins are 15 m² in size, the balcony cabins have a size of about 20-29 m² including a balcony, while the suites with a balcony measure between 42 and 69 m². Especially for single travelers the the M / S Azura offers popular single cabins with 12 m² in size.
Atmosphere on Board
On board a British and traditional cruise experience that meets the latest standards awaits you. The atmosphere is casual and generally easy and relaxed. Casual clothing for the day, adjusted to the destination and more formal evening attire are recommended for a cruise with P & O Cruises. Too casual clothing, such as tracksuits or disguises are not welcome. Various restaurants of famous star chefs, elegant bars and shows in the style of London's West End meet the leisure requirements of modern cruise guests.
Food and Beverages
All meals in the main and buffet restaurants, snacks, cabin service and afternoon tea are already included on board, as well as coffee, tea, water and juices in the buffet restaurants. Various chefs have created interesting and varied dishes for the fleet of the cruise line. The daily changing menus in the main restaurant are inspired by British cuisine. Particularly popular among the three on-board specialty restaurants is the "Sindhu", which offers special Indian delicacies.
Entertainment, Sports and Relaxation
In the evening there are spectacular shows as well as comedy and cabaret performances. Furthermore, live music, a casino and various lectures and courses are offered. You can end the day in one of the many different bars and have a stimulating conversation with fellow travelers with delicious drinks and cocktails. For spa lovers, there are various pools onboard and the Oasis Spa with various treatments and offers (fees may apply). Active people can work out in the gym, on the sports court or on the golf simulator.

Our rating of the Azura:
More feedback from our customers about this ship (click for details), ship overall.
- I would go again tomortow if given the chance!!!! We loved every minute of this ship.
- Need a refurbishment and install more signs.
Cruise in one sentence
- Great, relaxing time onboard the Azura!!It is an older ship, but all the amenities are there if you’re not a young traveller and need slides for the pools??♀️. We enjoyed the sonderful service of all thst worked onboard this ship. Mostly English travellers, so they cater mostly yo their needs….....
- Very good value for money
Remarks Cabin
- We booked an obstacle seaview, but sll I wanted was some natural light, which I got. I didn’t know it was a cabin for 4 so the closed bunk beds were of a nonsense as I’m a big lady and have terrible back. Considering we mostly never were in the Cabin so I could live with that!!

It helps large vessels like cruise ships, and others know each other’s current location, speed, heading, routes, etc. You can look up a specific cruise ship or focus on a particular fleet from your favorite cruise line. Of course, this system also can show many other vessels such as cargo ships, pilots, yachts, passenger ferries, and many more.
Automatic Identification System (AIS)
The Automatic Identification System, or AIS, is a system used by ships and other vessels to identify each other and transmit their locations. This information can be used to track the progress of a cruise ship as it travels from port to port. The data transmitted by AIS includes the vessel’s name, course, speed, destination, ship type, and any safety-related messages. It also provides an indication of the vessel’s size, type, cargo, and maneuverability. The system also uses a network of base stations located on shore.
Vessel Traffic Services (VTS)
The vessel traffic services (VTS) system is used mainly for monitoring and controlling maritime traffic in an area of specific importance. With its modern technology , it enables the authorities to observe, analyze, and coordinate the movement of vessels within a designated area. The system consists of various communication channels such as radar, AIS, VHF radio, and satellite.

The fleet operation centers focus on more than just the ship’s location but also Nautical Operations & Safety, Procedural Optimization & Efficiency, and Sustainability.
What is Cruise Ship Tracking?
Cruise ship tracking is a technology that allows cruise lines to monitor their vessels in real time. AIS (Automatic Identification System) has become the standard for ship tracking, as it broadcasts the position of a vessel every few minutes. This data can be received by any receiver with an AIS system and can be used to track the progress of not only cruise ships but, other passenger vessels, cruise ferries, and even container ships. Modern vessel tracking allows authorities to see the positions of vessels in real-time. This might help you get a package on time or in the case of cruises , plan for any delays arriving in a port. Shore excursions can be re-scheduled if needed well before the day arrived if a delay due to weather or another incident occurred.

Can you track every cruise ship?
No, not every cruise ship can be tracked. Some cruise ships may not have an AIS system installed, and therefore cannot be tracked. Additionally, some countries may restrict the broadcast of AIS data for security or other reasons. For these reasons, it is essential to double-check the availability of AIS data before attempting to track a specific cruise ship.
United States Coast Guard Regulations
The United States Coast Guard requires all ships operating in US waters to have an AIS system installed. This means that all cruise ships visiting the United States must have an AIS system installed and active at all times. This requirement ensures that all vessels are visible and traceable while in US waters, allowing for improved safety and security.
Emergency Situations
In the event of an emergency, AIS ship tracking can be used to quickly locate and contact a vessel in distress. By using the system, search and rescue teams can quickly and accurately locate vessels in need of assistance. This can mean the difference between life and death in some cases.
View Vessel Photos
Vessel Photos are listed for most ships, in addition to providing real-time tracking data, the AIS system can also provide vessel photos.
