What inspired me to join Carnival is the passion I have for cooking and my love for food. Which really become self of my life in the kitchen and the kitchen has become my first home. I work in the galley preparing the food, fish, pasta, some Filipino dishes, Indonesian dishes and Italian dishes as well. I do the main entrees and work in the crew food line. Working on an International cruise ship I learned how to cook different cuisine which I really love and really enjoy the most.

RIJAD FROM BOSNIA

I joined Carnival on February 5th, 2023, and it’s been a Great experience. First time working on cruise, adjusting was easy for me as I always loved traveling. It feels like home having a brother working for the same company for the past 7 years so that was a big part that attracted me, and the money is good. The beauty of working with family whilst traveling the world together is thrilling and can’t think of any another career opportunity that gives such a good balance.

ISHRON FROM ST. VINCENT & THE GRENADINES

I love traveling and as my boss says, ‘you get paid to travel!’ So that is nice, this is my opportunity, so I take it! As a galley attendant you work in the galley, so we do a lot of cleaning, plates, cups everything! In the galley we work as a team to get everything done easily. We have fun - we sing, dance a bit. It helps us get work done fast and the time go quickly.

MARIA THERSA FROM INDONESIA

It was in 2004 and I was reading a newspaper and I saw that Carnival was hiring so I applied. I believe that if you love what you are doing and you are happy with it - success will follow! Onboard I am responsible for the overall cleanliness of the cabin and of course with the proper PPE (personal protective equipment) and procedure. My advice to anyone thinking about applying to Carnival is just show your sincerity and love to your chosen career and success will follow.

ANTONIO FROM ITALY

What inspired me to join Carnival? Well it’s a cruise ship so it’s where I can increase my knowledge in electrical, tech and automation. I was thinking it was a good opportunity to join a cruise ship. A lot of my friends were talking really highly about the Carnival Family. If you have a passion of electrical work, Carnival is going to give you really good tools to increase your knowledge, to gain a lot of experience in automation, electrical and electronic stuff.

2 Ways You Can Find a Carnival Cruise Work From Home Job

If you love helping others travel to their dream destinations you can find a Carnival Cruise work from home job. You can also visit the remote travel jobs page for other similar positions.

2 Ways You Can Find a Carnival Cruise Work From Home Job

Carnival Cruise Lines is known worldwide for their extravagant vacation destinations. Anyone familiar with cruises knows their name and they are a well-respected company within the travel industry.

Carnival Cruise Lines is actually one of the largest vacation companies in the world and mostly operates from North America, Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom. They also own Holland America Princess Alaska Tours.  They were recently listed in the 2021 Forbes America’s Best Large Employers.

In North America, their main office is based out of Miami but did you know you can find a Carnival Cruise work at home position? With perks for free cruises and discounts on travel who wouldn’t want to find a way to work for this company if you need a work from home job?

There are several different ways you can work at home with this company and those are just the positions that I have seen posted on a regular bases so keep your eye open on their job site for any other jobs that might be listed as remote. If you want a customer service or sales based position then these Carnival Cruise work from home jobs might be the perfect fit for you. Read on to find out if it is a good fit for your work at home career.

Carnival Cruise Work From Home Call Center

Carnival Cruise Lines occasionally hires telecommuters for their virtual call center. These positions typically require a high school degree, excellent listening skills, creative problem solving and basic computer skills.

This position will answer incoming calls from guests, travel partners, ad internal team members on existing individual and group bookings. Virtual call centers work the same way a regular call center works with calls routed to different phone operators except for the fact that the virtual call center agents work from home.

As with most virtual call center jobs you need to have your own computer, internet access, and a quiet work background.

Carnival Cruise Work From Home Vacation Planner

The vacation planner position with Carnival Cruise Lines is more of a sales position and requires outgoing phone calls. You need to be comfortable with building your own database of customers and being able to close sales with your customer database.

You must be competitive and highly motivated. Required skills include being PC literate and have at least two years of sales experience. You must have your own computer and high speed internet for both positions with the company.

The job postings claim that vacation planners can make an average of 55K-60K a year with top producers making over 90K. Some past employees having posting online claim to only be able to make around 20K a year which is a big difference.

The pay is based greatly on commission so it could be possible that only those who excel at sales are going to make the kind of salary promised but I would be sure to check and be comfortable with the pay structure before signing on.

What Benefits are Offered?

Carnival hires agents on as employees, not independent contractors. This means you receive benefits including a 401K, tuition reimbursement programs, employee stock purchase plans, paid time off, and 2 complimentary “Fun Ship” cruises a year. Most companies do not hire work at home agents as employees but rather as independent contractors so this is great for those looking for benefits.

How Do I Apply?

The company is not always hiring for these positions but if you do not see them listed in the job postings, check back often to apply. Visit the Carnival Cruise Line job site to apply.

For other positions similar to this you can try FlexJobs . Every job listing is hand screened and 100% verified.

Why Work at Carnival Cruise Line?

See what employees say about what makes Carnival Cruise Line a great workplace. These words are drawn from employee comments on the Trust Index™ survey.

Organizations partner with Great Place To Work to understand how effectively their leaders create the conditions for an overwhelmingly positive employee experience. Great Place To Work offers best-in-class data about the employee experience, sourced from surveys taken by millions of employees globally. This data offers organizations invaluable insight into how their workers will interact with the workplace and establishes benchmarks for working conditions around the world.

Great Place To Work’s employee-centric view of the workplace was revolutionary 30 years ago. Today, our Trust Model™ offers an unmatched opportunity to identify what’s happening within your organization. Great Place To Work’s survey and analysis gives employers the ability to measure and track employee experience against key metrics and industry leaders.

Earning Great Place To Work Certification has  many benefits , including:

  • Better recruitment metrics such as offer acceptance rate
  • Higher  business profitability
  • Automatic  Best Workplaces™  award eligibility
  • Greater employer brand awareness
  • Improved employee trust
  • Higher retention:  51%  higher than a typical U.S. workplace
  • Greater employee pride in the company
  • Recognition for having  great people managers  and leaders

Great Place To Work Certification criteria are the global standard for quantifying and benchmarking the employee experience. Using the  Great Place To Work Trust Model and the Trust Index Survey , Certification evaluates workplace culture from the perspective that matters the most — the employee — offering the most comprehensive picture on the market of the internal health of an organization.

To be considered for Certification, organizations must have 10 or more employees and must complete a two-step process:

  • Survey employees with the Trust Index Survey.
  • Complete the Culture Brief™, a company questionnaire.

Positive employee responses to the Trust Index Survey (four and above on the five-point scale) are averaged to provide an organization-wide assessment of culture: the Trust Index. Companies that score above the current threshold become Great Place To Work Certified.

Surveys must meet strict requirements for how they are distributed and the percentage of employees who respond to ensure they accurately represent feedback from the company’s full population.

To earn Great Place To  Work Certification, the average score across your survey results must show that approximately 7 out of 10 of your employees are having a consistently positive experience at work.

Once you are Certified, you will receive an email from us with access to your survey scores, digital Certification badge, a toolkit of social media images, and press materials with shareable content. As an extra benefit, your organization will automatically be eligible for all our award lists through the entire 12-month period your Certification is valid.

In broad terms, the Great Place To Work Trust Index™ Survey measures the level of trust in your organization and the consistency of the employee experience. In other words: How often can employees count on something happening in their workplace, such as clear and honest leadership, fair treatment, and employee recognition?

More specifically, the Great Place To Work Trust Index Survey measures individual employee experiences of five dimensions of a high-trust company culture through 60 statements and two open-ended questions. Three of the dimensions are connected to the actions of leaders and building trust: credibility, respect, and fairness. The other two dimensions measure the workplace experience of employees in relation to their colleagues and the wider organization: pride and a sense of belonging.

These five dimensions create a workplace culture where employees feel empowered and encouraged to do their most meaningful work. High-trust cultures are shown in Great Place To Work research to  outperform their competitors  in recruitment and retention, productivity and innovation, and financial performance.

Survey answers are assessed on a five-point scale, revealing the most common experience of employees in the organization. Employee scores are averaged to provide an organization-wide assessment of workplace culture: the Trust Index score.

Not right now

I tried to spend as little as possible on Carnival's newest cruise ship. I recommend shelling out for better food and more fun.

  • I turned down almost all upcharged amenities during my four-day Carnival Firenze cruise .
  • The new ship has more complimentary family-friendly activities than some of its competitor's latest vessels.
  • But snubbing the up-charged food made for a less-than-amazing cruise.

Insider Today

Looking for a vacation that lets you ball on a budget? You'll certainly hit your "budget" requirement on Carnival's new Firenze ship — so long as you don't expect to truly ball out.

Cruises are an economical vacation option . After all, what other ticket includes unlimited food, a hotel room, activities, and the opportunity to see several destinations in one trip — all for less than $80 a day like Carnival is offering in 2024?

But if you're unwilling to spend more than the base fare, you could have a pretty different vacation experience from your peers who are ready to pay-to-play. At least, that's how I felt during my first Carnival cruise in mid-May on the new Firenze.

My stubborn stance against upcharged services resulted in a less-than-amazing experience.

carnival cruise line work from home

Josh Weinstein, president and CEO of Carnival Corp, the cruise line's parent company, told investors in late June that the company wants to continue to be known as a "cost leader" in the industry.

Its new ship is a great example of this. Carnival says it's seeing strong demand from its US market. But instead of building a new vessel, the company acquired Firenze and its sister ship from Costa Cruises, another Carnival Corp brand, in 2022.

Besides WiFi, I refused to front for Firenze's up-charged activities and services.

carnival cruise line work from home

I went on Carnival Firenze for work, which meant I had to cave on the ship's premium WiFi at $85 for all four nights.

Internet connectivity, specialty dining, and drinks packages are always extra on mass market ships . But over the last few years, cruise giants have added more irresistible pay-to-play amenities to their vessels, all while still luring travelers in with affordable base fares.

On Norwegian's newer ships , for example, this means paying $10 for a round of mini-golf or $29 for an hour at the VR arcade.

Not bad compared to Royal Caribbean's new Icon of the Seas , where travelers have to pay $200 for the fanciest restaurant or $49 for a ropes course that could be completed in less than a minute.

To Carnival’s credit, Frienze had more complimentary family-friendly amenities than some of its competitors’ newer ships.

carnival cruise line work from home

The mini-golf course wasn't nearly as flashy as Norwegian's. But mini-golf is mini-golf, no matter the number of bright lights and animated courses.

The same was true for Firenze's ropes course. While it didn't have the same thrilling floor drop as Icon of the Seas', the multi-part walkway was longer, more diverse, and, more importantly, free.

I much preferred it to the one on Icon.

Families could spend their afternoons shooting hoops, going on the waterslides, and competing over board games — all without spending a cent.

carnival cruise line work from home

The arcade was one of the few activities that wasn't free. Then again, they rarely are.

But don't book Firenze if you're seeking a quiet, relaxing ship. I struggled to find a peaceful public space where I could churn out some work without being distracted by the loud music and guests.

The only truly quiet space could've been the spa. But again, I wasn't going to pay for a massage.

In the eveing, I passed the time by catching the nightly movies and attending the theater's shows.

carnival cruise line work from home

Just know that the latter isn't a must-do. Some singers in the cheesy song-and-dance production "Dear Future Husband" were painfully off-key.

And if you want to munch on a bag of popcorn during the movie, you'll have to pay $4. Smelling the buttery snack without having one in my hands was a torturous tease.

Several of Firenze’s bars — like Piano Bar 88 — featured live musicians, too.

carnival cruise line work from home

Moda Bar and Lounge also had singers, if you count karaoke night.

But if you want a drink to accompany the entertainment, you'll have to spend about $13 for cocktails and $9 for beers and seltzers.

So, late-night foosball it was — for four nights in a row. At least it was free.

Activities like live music and board games are almost always free on cruise ships.

carnival cruise line work from home

But that doesn't exempt Carnival Firenze from the industry-wide push for more pay-to-play amenities . There's a reason the company saw a spike in onboard spending in the second quarter of 2024 compared to the same time last year — despite rising ticket prices.

I doubt it's solely because of increased participation at Firenze's live "Deal or No Deal" game show, which starts at $25 to play. Or the $4 shuttle from the port at Ensenada, Mexico on day three to downtown (which I regret not paying for).

In retrospect, I wish I had fallen for Firenze's upcharged foods.

carnival cruise line work from home

Norwegian and Royal Caribbean's newer ships had complimentary dining that was as good as, if not better, than the premium options. I still crave Norwegian Prima's free food hall .

I can't say the same for my no-fee dining experience on Firenze.

The ship had six specialty restaurants ranging from teppanyaki to steaks.

carnival cruise line work from home

The cruiseliner has a kitschy Italian theme, as its name might suggest. But if I had wanted to continue the Italian tune with some shrimp scampi and burrata at the Il Viaggio restaurant, I would've had to drop more than $40.

So, instead, I had my nightly meals in the mediocre main dining room, which served the same dinner dishes as the buffet.

None of my Carnival Firenze dinners were stellar, and finding a piece of plastic in my pasta didn't help, either.

I always have juice with my breakfast at home.

carnival cruise line work from home

But continuing my ritual on Firenze would've meant coughing up $5 per glass. It was tempting, especially as the main dining room server stopped by every table with a tray of the colorful concoctions.

For lunch, I bounced around options like the Guy Fieri-branded burger shack and the pizza, Italian-Mexican fusion, and Italian sandwich stands.

carnival cruise line work from home

My no-spend requirement meant I had to snub the almost $40 teppanyaki lunch, $1.50-a-piece empanada, and $6 Korean barbecue steak pizza (the pizza stand had free and upcharged pies).

That meant none of my lunches were standouts. The burgers were too heavy (mine came with a slab of fried mozzarella), the salsa verde at the sandwich stand was inedible, and the buffet was forgettable.

Even worse, the chicken wings at the buffet cost extra. Oh, Carnival.

The only craveable lunch was at La Strada Grill, a tucked-away buffet with sandwiches and fresh vegetables.

carnival cruise line work from home

It was the only light and fresh meal I had on the ship. I couldn't understand why it and another salad stand were closed until the last day of the cruise.

At that point, I had already grown tired of all the heavy foods.

carnival cruise line work from home

But a quick pick-me-up at the coffee shop would have required me to break my no-spend rule, too.

The buffet had free coffee, Lipton, and Bigelow's green tea bags. But if you want something closer to your neighborhood coffee shop, the onboard café charges $4.50 for a latte and $4 for a doughnut.

I don't remember the last time I drank that much Lipton tea.

Activities like the afternoon 'Tea Time' also had a cost barrier.

carnival cruise line work from home

Tea bags at the program were $1.50, unbeknownst to me until I was seated. After expressing disinterest in paying, I was later offered the buffet's teas.

Caffeine might be mandatory if you stay in the cheapest windowless cabin.

carnival cruise line work from home

Like any mass-market cruise ship, the most affordable option was a windowless interior stateroom and letting Carnival assign me my cabin.

Traveling alone for work meant I had to eat the solo supplement . My interior cabin, booked fairly last minute, cost $735, including $64 in optional gratuities.

But in 2024, the cheapest itinerary starts shy of $360 per person, including taxes and fees, for the same four-night sailing — from Long Beach, California, to Catalina Island and Ensenada, Mexico — as the one I went on.

Carnival put me in one of Firenze’s accessible, wheelchair-friendly rooms.

carnival cruise line work from home

This meant the shower — a curtain surrounding floor drains — was one of the largest I've had at sea. And all the furniture came pushed against the wall, making the cabin feel spacious for someone without physical disabilities.

But where the stateroom excels in size, it fails in design.

It was one of the ugliest rooms I've ever stayed in. The furniture looked dated, the bathroom had almost no storage, and there were no bedside outlets.

That said, the starting price of $90 a day is hard to beat. At least it encouraged me to spend more time around the ship than inside my windowless dungeon.

Overall, my no-spend Carnival Firenze cruise was fine. Not amazing. Not life-changing. Just fine.

carnival cruise line work from home

The surplus of complimentary onboard activities rivaled that of more expensive ships. But if my meals weren't lackluster, they were bad.

I'm sure I would have a different review if I had spent an additional $50 on the steakhouse or $100 on the chef's table . But the less-than-desirable complimentary food ultimately plagued my four nights at sea.

If you're considering cruising on Carnival Firenze , I'd recommend paying for at least one of the specialty restaurants. The money will be worth skipping the buffet and uninspiring dining room.

Carnival shares rise as flood of demand for cruise bookings bolsters record quarterly results

The Carnival Sunshine cruise ship travels toward the port in Nassau, Bahamas.

After cruises became the canary in the coal mine for the tourism industry’s decimation during the pandemic, bookings have come roaring back. The biggest winner is cruise companies, with Carnival reporting on Tuesday that it had reached record revenue in the second quarter of 2024.

The outlook for the cruise giant is even rosier for 2025, with advanced bookings set to be higher than in 2024. Analysts at UBS maintained their buy rating on the stock, setting a target price of $21. Carnival shares rose Tuesday on the news, reaching $18.40 at time of publication after hovering around $16 at the start of the week.

A rising tide

After a disastrous 2020 and 2021, which saw cruise companies lose tens of billions of dollars and become saddled with debt, they won back customers with what a Morningstar analyst referred to as "diplomatic pricing"—offering deep discounts and packaging together amenities.

In Tuesday's second-quarter earnings release, Carnival announced it had prepaid around $6.6 billion in debt over the last 15 months, reducing its debt by nearly 40%. With growing revenue, however, the company also has invested in infrastructure, including installing the Elon Musk–run internet service Starlink across its fleet and launching a new ship called Queen Anne, which can hold 3,000 passengers.

Competition remains steep, with Royal Caribbean unveiling the Icon of the Seas, the world's largest cruise ship, in January. Carnival's market cap of $23 billion is just over half of Royal Caribbean's $41 billion, though it remains the largest company in the industry by number of boats. The Switzerland-based Viking remains the smallest of the big three, with a market cap of around $13 billion.

Despite the positive outlook, UBS analysts warned that an economic slowdown, especially in the U.S. and Europe, could impact booking levels and pricing. Fuel prices remain another concern. Still, Tuesday's financials outperformed the analysts' expectations, largely driven by increased bookings and higher pricing. According to a separate report from Morningstar, booking patterns indicate that 2025 could yield higher results than the 3% previously predicted.

A May report from the trade association Cruise Lines International Association attributed the growth to new passengers, with 27% of "cruisers" over the past two years embarking on their first voyage, an increase of 12% over the past year. According to the report, cruise tourism rebounded faster than other forms of travel after the pandemic, with 31.7 million passengers in 2021 compared with pre-pandemic numbers of 29.7 million in 2019.

Port Canaveral extends contract with Norwegian, aims for expanded cruise presence

carnival cruise line work from home

Port Canaveral on Wednesday approved a six-month extension of the port's contract with Norwegian Cruise Line , while the port and the company aim to work out a longer-term deal.

Port Canaveral CEO John Murray says he hopes one of the results will be the port gaining a greater presence of Norwegian ships in the future.

Since 2014, Norwegian has based some of its newest and largest ships at Port Canaveral, but mostly one at a time. From now through early 2026, six different Norwegian ships will rotate into and out of Port Canaveral. For a short time in early 2026, there will be three Norwegian ships based at Port Canaveral.

Previous deal with Norwegian: Norwegian Cruise Line signs new deal with Port Canaveral involving Escape, Getaway, Prima

Under the existing operating agreement, which was scheduled to expire on June 30, Norwegian operates the Norwegian Jade on a seven-day itinerary out of Cruise Terminal 10.

The amendment port commissioners unanimously approved Wednesday extends the term of the operating agreement for six months. Norwegian will continue to operate the Norwegian Jade out of Port Canaveral until August. The Jade then will be replaced in October with the Norwegian Epic, on seven-day itineraries out of Terminal 10.

The extension allows 19 home-port calls by Norwegian ships from July 1 through Dec. 31, resulting in a minimum guaranteed payment of $1.52 million to the port.

In the meantime, the port staff and Norwegian representatives will continue to discuss longer-term deployment options.

Here is the current plan for Norwegian ship deployments out of Port Canaveral:

  • Norwegian Jade: Saturday sailings through August 2024. The ship has a double-occupancy capacity of 2,353, was built in 2006 and was refurbished in 2022.
  • Norwegian Epic: Saturday sailings from October 2024 to April 2025. The ship has a double-occupancy capacity of 4,070, was built in 2010, and was refurbished in 2020.
  • Norwegian Aqua: Saturday sailings from April 2025 to August 2025. The new ship is under construction, and will debut at Port Canaveral. It has a double-occupancy capacity of 3,571.
  • Norwegian Joy: Saturday sailings from November 2025 to April 2026. The ship has a double-occupancy capacity of 3,776, was built in 2017, and was refurbished this year.
  • Norwegian Breakaway: Tuesday and Friday sailings from January 2026 to February 2026. The ship has a double-occupancy capacity of 3,903, was built in 2013, and was refurbished in 2020.
  • Norwegian Prima: Sunday sailings beginning in November 2025. The ship has a double-occupancy capacity of 3,099, and was built in 2022.

Port Canaveral is the world's second-busiest cruise port. Five cruise lines base ships at Port Canaveral — Carnival, Disney, MSC, Norwegian and Royal Caribbean. Celebrity and Princess will add ships to the Port Canaveral lineup later this year.

DeSantis signs port charter amendments into law

Legislative delegation debate: Florida legislators reject proposal to boost Port Canaveral commissioner pay by 91.5%

Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed into law a bill that includes a series of amendments to Port Canaveral's charter. This is the last step in a once-a-decade process for updating the charter that includes recommendations from the port's 10-member Charter Review Committee; approval by the Canaveral Port Authority; then approval by the Florida House and Senate.

Among the changes in the port charter are ones that deal with stricter requirements for leases of greater than 30 years, which Port Canaveral Vice President and General Counsel Craig Langley has described at the "most impactful" for the port of the Charter Review Committee's recommendations. Other changes involve various procedures for soliciting contracts with vendors; expansion outside of Brevard County of the port's foreign trade zone, which offers tax advantages to participating businesses; and use of online legal notices.

The charter also has a new section, under which Port Canaveral would be required to "take reasonable measures to support the commercial space launch industry." SpaceX uses the port facilities in its recovery of boosters and other launched space hardware, and Blue Origin will be following suit.

Port CFO leaves for job in Tampa Bay

Michael Poole, who has been Port Canaveral's chief financial officer since May 2018, has left the port for a CFO position at Port Tampa Bay.

Prior to his joining Port Canaveral, Poole spent more than a decade as chief financial officer at JaxPort in Jacksonville, and was deputy port director at the Port of Pensacola for nine years.

"Mike was well-respected and did a great job here," Murray said at Wednesday's Canaveral Port Authority meeting.

Murray said a new CFO will be in place by mid-July.
