Our Testimonial

What our clients say.

I hired Adventure Charter And Tour to pick me up at the airport with their Mercedes. I had just got back from a long trip in Germany and was very tired. The driver was on time and extremely courteous and I had no problems at all. I wanted to write a review and share my experience because it was not a good with other Columbus transportation companies.

I used Adventure Charter And Tour to take a group down to the Kentucky Derby. Our driver was very professional and delivered us right to the main entrance. I would definitely use them again in the future. The service was great!

Great experience with this company I have used many others in columbus but this was by far the best you guys made our trip so easy. Great customer service, wonderful drivers and by far the best and most affordable transportation company I have used in central ohio. Thank you soo much!

Pickups and drop offs at issue-ridden West Side bus terminal will cease completely

travel buses in ohio

Pickups and drop-offs at the Wilson Road bus depot on Columbus' West Side will soon cease after almost a year of back-and-forth arguing between the bus operators and the city over health and safety concerns.

Columbus City Attorney Zach Klein announced Friday that Barons Bus and Greyhound Lines reached an agreement to "drastically reduce operations" while searching for a new bus terminal site.

In the next 30 days, the bus operators must submit an updated plan for that site, and in 120 days, must stop passenger pickups and drop-offs and limit their operations to ticket sales and bus transfers. However, "heightened safety and security measures" will remain at the Hilltop location, which was once a gas station, according to a news release from Klein's office.

Pickup and drop-off locations will move to two already existing locations, according to the agreement, including the John Glenn Columbus International Airport and another at the Ohio State University campus. Barons and Greyhound must work with the city and to determine a third location within that 120-day transition period.

“Signing a court order to drastically reduce operations, address congestion and overcrowding issues, and maintain strict safety and security measures at the Wilson Road Terminal is a win for neighbors and the City,” Klein said in the prepared release. “From the start, I’ve said that our priorities are to make this site safe and secure for passengers and surrounding neighbors."

Over 100 residents have complained about crime — including a shooting — litter, traffic, illegal parking and other issues since the new station opened.

More: Man bit off security guard's ear at embattled West Side bus station, Columbus police say

For the next 180 days, Barons and Greyhound are required under the agreement to keep two "properly licensed" security guards on site at all times. The operators will also be required to maintain cameras, lights and security systems, offer restrooms with running water and conduct daily trash pick up, among other requirements.

The city is also requiring increased transparency of Barons and Greyhound in the agreement. The operators must, at any time, disclose their progress in finding a "more appropriate" location for a permanent terminal.

Ginther v. Greyhound: Key dates in the legal battle to shutter the bus depot

“If at any point we see Barons or Greyhound deviate from this plan or refuse to work with the city, we will not hesitate to bring them before the court and hold them accountable," said Steve Dunbar, the city attorney's property action team chief. "Safety and access to these services remain our priority.”

COTA approves sales tax hike proposal for bus rapid transit on November ballot

travel buses in ohio

After years of planning and pitches, voters this fall will decide on whether to approve a sales tax to support LinkUS — an initiative to bring bus rapid transit to the greater Columbus area.

The Central Ohio Transit Authority on Wednesday approved ballot language for a 0.75% sales tax that will go before voters this fall in Franklin County and parts of Delaware, Fairfield, Union and Licking counties, according to a resolution.

The tax includes 0.5% that would support LinkUS and 0.25% that would replace a temporary sales tax that is set to expire in 2026, the resolution shows. If approved by voters, the ballot measure would provide an estimated $6 billion in new revenue to support LinkUS.

More on COTA and LinkUS : COTA ridership rising but still far from pre-COVID high. What does that mean for LinkUS?

What bus rapid transit in Columbus would look like

LinkUS would begin by building out bus rapid transit along three routes including one on West Broad Street, another on East Main Street and a third that would carve through the northwestern part of central Ohio.

Prep for the polls: See who is running for president and compare where they stand on key issues in our Voter Guide

Differences between typical bus service and rapid transit include dedicated bus lanes, traffic signal prioritization and control, increased bus capacity and off-board fare collection to speed up boarding and more, according to LinkUS. Along with bus rapid transit, LinkUS would also provide funding for sidewalks, greenways and bike paths.

Bus rapid transit would allow central Ohio to get ahead of its growth, said Monica Tellez-Fowler, COTA president and chief executive officer. If LinkUS is implemented, it would mark "a significant step" forward for public transit in the region, she said.

"I think the alternative is to do nothing or wait and do something later," Tellez-Fowler said. "I think we've seen other cities go down that path and it is something that ultimately results in you can't catch up to where you need to be."

After the vote, Columbus City Council President Shannon Hardin called it a "historic day for central Ohio" for the region. Hardin has been a vocal supporter of LinkUS as the initiative has come to fruition and said that he thinks there is pent-up demand and interest that will push the public transit proposal to success at the ballot box later this year.

"Today, the COTA board voted to put forward an initiative that will increase the quality of life for our residents," Hardin said. "As we grow, as we welcome in more people, it will make sure that we have a more walkable, more connected, more sustainable community ... For far too long, we have been the largest region in the country without advanced transit."

Many central Ohioans spoke in support of LinkUS on Wednesday, including Sandy Doyle Ahern, president of engineering and survey firm EMH&T. Some form of modernized mass transit system is needed for the Columbus to remain competitive with other regions and it could serve as an economic driver, Ahern said.

"The build it and they come scenario will absolutely play out here in central Ohio," she said.

Stephanie Hightower, president of the Columbus Urban League who sits on the LinkUS board, told COTA board members that bus rapid transit would be a "game changer for many families we serve" and said that it would support the community in "ways that move generations to come."

Central Ohio's 15-county region is expected to swell to more than 3 million residents by 2050 and public officials and COTA leaders have often referenced the predicted population growth in pushing for the LinkUS ballot imitative.

"We must provide safe comfortable and attractive transit choices as more people choose to call our region home," Chris Groomes, mayor of the city of Dublin told board members Wednesday.

Jackson Township police and firefighter/paramedics honored for SARTA bus crash response

Jackson Township police and firefighter/paramedics received the 2024 EMS Star of Life Award for their life-saving actions after Jonetta Ross, front, center, was seriously injured in a SARTA bus crash on Sept. 25. The Ohio Department of Public Safety’s Division of EMS presented the awards Wednesday in Columbus.

  • Jackson Township police and firefighter/paramedics honored for SARTA bus crash response.
  • Police officer applied tourniquet, firefighter/paramedic provided emotional support.
  • Head-on crash on Frank Avenue seriously injured driver.

Jonetta Ross was behind the wheel of a Stark Area Regional Transit Authority Proline bus in Jackson Township on the morning of Sept. 25 when an SUV heading in the opposite direction crossed the center line of Frank Avenue and hit the bus head-on .

The Canton woman was trapped, bleeding and suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Jackson Township police officer Kyle Trsinar was first to arrive. He applied a tourniquet to stop the bleeding, which bought time for firefighters to perform a complicated extrication.

Frank Avenue crash: Two drivers go to hospital after SARTA Proline bus collides with SUV Monday

Paramedic Dawn Shaffer saw the trauma and stayed by the bus driver's side during the rescue to help her deal with the mental trauma, according to a press release from the Jackson Township Fire Department.

Ross was was taken to Aultman Hospital in Canton.

After surgery, the 48-year-old's first request was to meet her "guardian angel," Shaffer, the paramedic who showed her care and compassion.

The teamwork of Jackson Township's first responders was recognized on Wednesday, when they received the 2024 Star of Life Award from the Ohio Department of Public Safety’s Division of EMS in Columbus. The award recognizes individuals and agencies for remarkable life-saving efforts and exceptional patient care performed during a call.

“If you’ve ever taken a first aid/CPR class, you heard about the ‘Chain of Survival,’" Jackson Fire Chief Tim Berczik said in a prepared statement. "From the initial 911 call to the responding police and fire units, to the transfer of medical care in the emergency room, trauma care, subsequent intensive care and hours of rehabilitation are all links connecting the ‘Chain of Survival.’"

He said Jackson firefighter/paramedics continually train on all hazards.

"Their professionalism during actions performed every day on every shift often go unnoticed," Berczik said. "On this particular day, we couldn’t be more proud of the actions performed by all police and fire personnel involved with this incident.

"Being recognized at the 2024 State EMS Star of Life Award Recipient is an honor, something few get to experience in a career. More importantly, we are making a difference and saving lives within our community."

Minivan driver in fatal Clark County school bus crash sentenced to prison

Hermanio Joseph listens to Judge Douglas Rastatter Wednesday, May 1, 2024 after being found guilty on all charges in Clark County Common Pleas Court. BILL LACKEY/STAFF

The driver of a minivan that went across the center line and struck a Northwestern Elementary School bus, killing one student and injuring dozens, was sentenced to a prison term of nine to 13.5 years.

Spectators packed the Clark County Common Pleas courtroom on Tuesday morning for the sentencing of Hermanio Joseph, 36, a Haitian immigrant who did not have a valid driver’s license.

Aiden Clark , 11, died in the crash and about two dozen other students were injured on the bus that had 52 children aboard.

Judge Douglas Rastatter sentenced Joseph to an indefinite term of nine to 13.5 years in prison with two to five years of post-release control after serving the time. The presumption is Joseph will serve nine years, but it will be revisited based on behavior and other factors.

Joseph, through an interpreter, issued a statement in which he apologized.

Aiden Clark’s brother, sister and father were among those who also addressed the court about his death.

EARLIER : A Clark County judge today will sentence the minivan driver who earlier this month was found guilty of hitting a school bus while driving without a valid license, killing one student and injuring dozens others.

Hermanio Joseph, 36, was convicted May 1 of first-degree felony involuntary manslaughter and fourth-degree felony vehicular homicide. He is scheduled to be sentenced by Clark County Common Pleas Court Judge Douglas Rastatter at 10 am.

Joseph, a Haitian immigrant, could spend six to 12 months in jail for the vehicular homicide charge and anywhere from three to 16.5 years in prison for the involuntary manslaughter charge.

The charges came after an Aug. 22 crash involving Joseph’s eastbound 2010 Honda Odyssey that went left of center on state Route 41, striking a Northwestern school bus. One student, Aiden Clark, 11, died after he was ejected from the emergency hatch of the bus and was pinned when it overturned.

It was the first day of school for Northwestern Elementary School students, and 52 elementary school students and a driver were aboard the bus.

According to testimony from crash reconstruction expert Ohio State Highway Patrol Sgt. Jeremiah Smith, as the Honda crossed into the lane of the bus, Northwestern driver Alfred “Gene” Collier, moved the bus to the shoulder on the asphalt. The Honda continued to cross over and struck the side of the bus, then it traveled south across the roadway, coming to rest in a field.

The bus, which the driver “put a lot of input into” trying to get away from the minivan, sustained damage to the back axle, Smith said. It went down an embankment, turned, then flipped on its top.

During the trial, Joseph testified through an interpreter that he has a Mexican driver’s license and Ohio ID card, but no Ohio driver’s license.

A prosecution witness, Sydney King, Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles policy advisor, testified Tuesday that Joseph did not have an Ohio driver’s license, but he did have a state identification card. She said an Ohio ID requires a person to establish residency in the state.

Joseph testified he has temporary protected status and did not get an Ohio driver’s license because he did not have the necessary documents.

Ohio man plans to take a 2-person submersible to Titanic depths to show the industry is safe after the OceanGate tragedy

  • A submersible imploded as it descended to view the wreck of the Titanic last year.
  • All five passengers on board the OceanGate vessel were killed in the incident.
  • Two men are now planning a trip in a new submersible to try to prove the industry is safe.

An Ohio real-estate investor is planning to take a two-person submersible down to Titanic-level depths to prove that the journey can be carried out safely following the Titan sub implosion last year .

The investor, Larry Connor, told The Wall Street Journal: "I want to show people worldwide that while the ocean is extremely powerful, it can be wonderful and enjoyable and really kind of life-changing if you go about it the right way."

He is working with Patrick Lahey, the cofounder and CEO of submersible manufacturer Triton Submarines.

The pair aims to show that such an expedition can be carried out repeatedly and safely despite the implosion of the OceanGate sub last June, which killed all five people on board, including the company's CEO, Stockton Rush.

Lahey said that Connor rang him a few days after the implosion and said: "'You know, what we need to do is build a sub that can dive to [ Titanic -level depths] repeatedly and safely and demonstrate to the world that you guys can do that, and that Titan was a contraption.'"

Connor, who has previously been to the Mariana Trench, the deepest oceanic trench on Earth, said they plan to do the journey in a two-person vessel called the Triton 4000/2 Abyssal Explorer, named "4000" for the depth in meters it can reach. He did not say when the trip will take place.

Lahey was one of the many industry figures who criticized OceanGate before and after the disaster, accusing it of questionable safety standards.

After the implosion, he described Rush's approach to convincing people to get on board as "quite predatory."

Others in the industry and the company also voiced their concerns.

A former chief submersible pilot for the company said years before the fatal incident that he was worried Rush would get himself and others killed in a "quest to boost his ego."

Filmmaker and Titanic explorer James Cameron also weighed in, saying he and some engineers had warned OceanGate officials that the Titan could lead to "catastrophic failure."

The waiver that Titan passengers were required to sign mentioned multiple ways that passengers could die and described the vessel as "experimental" three times.

Previous passengers had also described errors, failed trips, and feeling unsafe.

CBS News' David Pogue said his trip on the submersible was canceled after the Titan reached 37 feet due to an equipment malfunction, while one diver who made it to the wreckage said there were multiple aborted attempts, calling it a "suicide mission."

Nevertheless, Rush and his company repeatedly defended the submersible and its design.

The subsequent disaster raised concerns about the industry, with some experts calling on the industry to reassess taking people to such a remote location.

But Lahey said he believed that OceanGate's problems weren't reflective of the wider industry, saying that classed submersibles are considered to be very safe due to the extensive testing they undergo.

Rob McCallum — a former OceanGate consultant who had warned Rush about the safety of the Titan — agreed with that assessment.

"In that sense, OceanGate didn't make the industry look bad," McCallum told the Journal. "It made us look good."
