Carnival Breeze Itineraries

Carnival breeze review, review of carnival breeze.

The 2012-built Carnival Breeze cruise ship is the 3rd Dream-class vessel in the CCL-Carnival fleet, together with Carnival Dream (September 2009), Carnival Magic (May 2011) as well as Costa Diadema (2014).

The vessel (IMO number 9555723) is currently Panama- flagged (MMSI 354842000) and registered in Colon .

History - construction and ownership

Carnival Cruise Lines (CCL) is a US shipping company, trademarked brand and subsidiary of Carnival Corporation (shipowner). CCL was founded in 1972 as an independent company by Ted Arison (1924-1999, co-founder of NCL Norwegian ).

CCL has the Corporation's largest fleet as number of vessels and GT-tonnage (ship sizes/volumes and passenger capacities). In 2023, CCL had ~9% (by revenue) and ~19% (passengers) share of the cruise industry's worldwide market. In 2024, the parent company (Carnival Corporation) had ~51% stake in the US$64+ billion industry.

Carnival Breeze cruise ship

The 3690-passenger ship Carnival Breeze was launched on June 3, 2012. This ship introduced the line's first complete "Fun Ship 2.0" concept. It is a fleetwide initiative concentrated on food, drink, and amusement, allowing Carnival cruise passengers to tour, taste and laugh their way through new onboard places. Breeze is the first Fun Ship in decades that was not constructed by Joe Farcus - the man that dreamed in neon and polished marble. Much of what is found on the Carnival ships Dream and Magic is on the Breeze too.

Decks and Cabins

Carnival Breeze staterooms (1845 total) include 54 Suites, 851 Balcony, 227 Oceanview and 713 Iside cabins, in all 34 grades. Most staterooms are sized 170-185 ft2 / 16-17 m2. Most cabin balconies are sized 35-45 ft2 / 3-4 m2. Deluxe Oceanviews are with two separate washrooms and advertised as "Family cabins" having max capacity 5 passengers. Cove Balcony (located beneath the lifeboats on Deck 2) have partially enclosed verandas.

CCL Breeze ship also has 368 connecting ("Family" cabins), 79 "Cloud 9 Spa", 35 wheelchair-accessible, and "Cove Balcony" cabins (located on Deck 2/by the lifeboats). The largest are the Grand Suites (345 ft2 / 32 m2 plus 85 ft2 / 8 m2 terrace) with max occupancy 4 passengers.

The boat has 14 decks , of which 9 are with cabins.

Shipboard dining options - Food and Drinks

Breeze is the line's first Carnival cruise vessel to feature a stand-alone sushi restaurant - Bonsai Sushi. It is decked out with koi kites, Bonsai trees and artwork made by graffiti painters Erni Vales. The restaurant offers sushi, sashimi, and rolls along with bento boxes and "sushi vessel". Pricing is a la carte, from 1 dollar for appetizersized pieces to 15 dollars for sushi for a couple.

Amenities also include a corkscrew waterslide, adults-only "Serenity" deck, "Cloud 9 Spa", WaterWorks (aqua park), Seaside Theatre. Cabins for families can accommodate up to 5 passengers. There were three different itineraries: Western Caribbean (to Jamaica/Montego Bay, Grand Cayman, Mexico/Cozumel), Western Caribbean (to Belize; Roatan, Mexico/Cozumel) and Bahamas (to Nassau, Freeport, Key West Florida).

The liner's namesake is the Windstar -operated superyacht Star Breeze (1989-built as Seabourn Spirit).

The 3,690-passenger, 130,000-ton Carnival Breeze was launched in June 2012 by Carnival Cruise Lines. As one of the largest ships in Carnival's fleet, the Carnival Breeze is sure to offer something fun for everyone.

The ship offers many of the most popular venues and attractions from its sister ships, the Carnival Dream and Carnival Magic , and is a Caribbean cruise departing from Port Canaveral (Orlando), Florida, through most of 2020. Beginning November 2020 Carnival Breeze will depart from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Cruises range from six to nine days, and possible ports of call include Cozumel, Belize, Grand Turk, Aruba, Nassau, and various other Caribbean destinations, depending on the itinerary you choose.

Dining and Cuisine

TripSavvy / Linda Garrison

Every cruise traveler should be able to find the type of food they are craving when sailing on the Carnival Breeze.

Many of the onboard restaurants are included with cruise reservations, including burgers or barbeque at two restaurants by renowned chef Guy Fieri, Tex-Mex at the BlueIguana Cantina, pizzas at Pizza Pirate, Asian flavors at Mongolian Wok, daily brunch, and a sandwich deli.

The ship does have a few premium dining options if you're seeking a special night out. Bonsai Sushi, the first full-service sushi bar on a Carnival ship, serves freshly prepared sushi onboard, and you really can't beat fresh fish when you're already at sea. The Coffee Bar is a gourmet coffee shop with specialty coffees and pastries. While there is a free pasta bar onboard, Cucina del Capitano serves higher-end Italian meals—and the servings are huge. Finally, the Steakhouse restaurant on the Carnival Breeze is one of the more expensive options, but the food is delicious and expertly prepared.

Cabins and Suites

The 719 interior staterooms are the smallest (and least expensive) on the ship, measuring 185 square feet. For those looking for something larger and more luxurious, the Carnival Breeze has 54 suites, the largest being the Grand Penthouse Suites. Most travelers on the ship choose one of the 851 Carnival Breeze balcony cabins or one of the 221 oceanview cabins without a balcony.

Carnival has added some innovative cabin categories to this class of ship. Families enjoy the Deluxe Oceanview cabins, which sleep five and have two baths. Travelers who like to be closer to the water might request a Cove Balcony cabin. These cabins are identical to the standard balcony cabin on the inside, but are lower on deck two. The covered balcony is partially enclosed, making it cozier and private. Guests in the suites adjacent to the Cloud 9 spa enjoy unlimited access to the spa, priority spa appointments, and complimentary fitness classes.

Cloud 9 Spa and Fitness Center

The Carnival Breeze Cloud 9 Spa is a whopping 22,770 square feet and spans two decks forward.

In addition to the 21 massage and other private treatment rooms, the Cloud 9 Spa has a thermal suite that is much like a traditional Turkish bath. It features heated chaise lounges, a tropical shower, and an unbeatable view. The thalassotherapy pool with its bubbling waters is relaxing and therapeutic. Couples might want to request one of the two VIP couples rooms that come complete with their own private whirlpool.

Guests are able to enjoy a range of additional spa features, such as a full salon, men's barber, acupuncture, facials, and medi-spa treatments such as Botox.

The fitness center has the latest cardio- and weight-training equipment catering to all fitness levels. The fitness center serves as the location for a wide range of instructor-led exercise classes including free classes in stretching, toning, and conditioning. The spa also has for-fee classes in yoga, Pilates, spinning, and TRX Rip Trainer.

Entertainment

In addition to being the first ship to feature all of the entertainment offerings that are part of the line's "Fun Ship 2.0" enhancement initiative, the Carnival Breeze is the first to debut the new Thrill Theater , an interactive, multi-dimensional experience that makes guests feel as if they are part of the movie.

It's also the first ship to offer Playlist Productions, high-tech production shows only 30 minutes long that combine captivating live performances with LED staging and special effects.

Guests can also choose a competitive entertainment option. Hasbro, The Game Show puts guests right in the middle of their favorite Hasbro games, such as Yahtzee Bowling, Connect 4 Basketball, and Operation Sam Dunk. Lip Sync Battle, based on the popular television show, lets guests compete to be the lip-syncing champion of the ship.

The Carnival Breeze offers the Punchliner Comedy Club. Professional comics will leave you in stitches, but make sure you know whether the show you're attending is family-friendly or adults-only.

Onboard Activities for Adults

Adults sailing on the Carnival Breeze can cruise the dozen or so bars, or hit the casino. Or, they can stretch out on one of the comfortable loungers or hammocks at Serenity, the adults-only outdoor deck area, or catch an adults-only show at the Punchliner Comedy Club, which is held in the aft, 400-seat Limelight Lounge. Sports fans appreciate the Casino Bar, with its multiple screens showing worldwide sporting events.

On a mega-ship like the Carnival Breeze, adult couples looking for a romantic getaway sometimes forget that they can find quiet spots. Strolling the decks at night under the moon and feeling the sea breeze is also a good way to have some romantic time on the ship. Parents traveling with kids don't need to forgo time alone, either: They can leave the kids for a few hours with Camp Carnival's Night Owls program, which offers a host of late-night activities with movies, games, and snacks.

Just for Kids

The Carnival Breeze has more than 19,000 total square feet of space catering to children and teenagers. This space includes indoor and outdoor play areas, a suspended ropes course, an outdoor EA Sports gaming system, miniature golf, and a sprawling aqua park housing the cruise line's longest waterslide.

Carnival Breeze's kid-friendly amenities include supervised programs for three age groups: Camp Ocean (ages 2-11), Circle "C" (ages 12-14), and Club O2 (ages 15-17). Each youth facility offers a full schedule of activities throughout the cruise overseen and organized by a full staff.

On specific nights, special late-night parties are offered between 10 p.m. and 3 a.m. for different age groups, with dancing, fun snacks, giveaways, movies, and more.

Outdoor Decks and Exterior Common Areas

With wide expanses of deck space, two outdoor swimming pools, and several hot tubs, the Carnival Breeze offers outdoor fun for all tastes.

Kids and adults love WaterWorks, the onboard water park with two waterslides and dozens of other ways to get wet. SportSquare, the outdoor recreation area, offers numerous games and even has a ropes course. Those who like to get their fitness routine outdoors can use the jogging track or the exercise equipment.

From the mouthwatering burritos at BlueIguana to Food Network star Guy Fieri's famous fries at Guy's Burger Joint, everyone in the family will be very satisfied. Special kids' menus with all their favorites and 24/7 pizza is available. Scrumptious dishes are also offered at the two main dining rooms, Blush and Sapphire. Featured are also the Sushi Bar, RedFrog Pub, the deli, Fat Jimmy's C-Side BBQ and the poolside Lido Marketplace.

Spacious and comfortable accommodations — many with ocean views and balconies — will make you feel right at home. Contemporary furnishings and a tropical décor will transport you to a Caribbean laid-back state of mind. Special "cove balcony" staterooms are located closer to the water line for up-close sea views and more interior space. Family-friendly staterooms are perfect for the whole gang and for bringing friends along.

Meet with friends and have a drink at the many chic bars and lounges, such as Piano Bar 88, the Library Bar, the poolside RedFrog Rum Bar, Breeze Bar in the lobby, OceanPlazza and BlueIguana Tequila Bar. Dance at the popular Liquid Nightclub and watch a show at Ovation, the main show lounge. Try your luck at the bustling casino and have an amazing experience at the multi-dimensional Thrill Theater. You will be dancing in your seat at Playlist Productions. Enjoy family time as you munch on popcorn and watch a movie outdoors on a huge screen.

Blue iguana cantina

Blue iguana cantina

Nobody knows Mexican dining like a blue iguana. Well, our blue iguana, at least. That’s why it should come as no surprise that the BlueIguana Cantina features freshly made tacos and burritos stuffed specially for your enjoyment. Throw our homemade tortillas and salsa into the mix, and you have a casual dining experience that will make you say “mmmm” (which is actually Iguanese for “more, please”).

Guys burger joint

Guys burger joint

We went looking for someone to help us grill up the best burgers at sea, and we found just the guy. Carnival has teamed up with best-selling author, restaurateur and Food Network personality Guy Fieri to bring all the authentic appeal of a roadside burger shack to Guy’s Burger Joint, the cool poolside spot for hot burgers and hand-cut fries. Try a fresh-off-the-grill burger Guy’s way, or take it off-road to our toppings bar and truly make it your own.

Forgot to bring a book? E-reader battery just died? Every Carnival® ship features an onboard library stocked with the good stuff. For the silent types, it’s a great place to read, but if the roar of the ocean is more your soundtrack, the library is a great place to find a good read to borrow and devour, al fresco. Beach Pool

POOL DAY! Whether today's the day for a bit of a dip, a dash of splash or even some swimming — or just a serious poolside lounging session — your Carnival cruise has just the pool for you. In fact, pools are so important to a great cruise that we designed many of our ships to have two of them. At an aft pool you'll catch a breeze, plus a sea view featuring the ship's wake, while midship pools have a grand view of a different kind: the big screen's right there for the viewing. And no matter which you find yourself chilling in, the sunbeams are yours for the soaking.

Camp Ocean

At Camp Ocean, 2–11 year-olds stay busy, keep active and have fun as they enjoy all new ocean-themed activities and entertainment made for kids. We put campers into supervised, age-based groups and give each a cool marine-life label that’s sure to raise the sails on camaraderie at sea. The littlest little ones — ages 2 to 5 —join the Penguin colony and engage in activities like Musical Icebergs and Ocean Bingo… even learning a thing or two about buoyancy! The little-biggers, 6 to 8, are the way-cool Stingrays, who might be found enjoying Pirate Game Night, making sea salt art or even designing their own aquarium. The big fish are the Sharks — ages 9 to 11 — who really sink their teeth into playing Marine Life Trivia, creating a giant ocean mural, and scoring big with games and sports competitions. Our counselors, each with education or childcare experience, are there to make sure everyone in these small groups has an amazing time.

Piano Bar 88

Piano Bar 88

Play it again, Sam. Or Diana. Or whatever your name is. Because this is the bar where you call the shots – and the songs. Pull up a seat, order your favorite cocktail, and let your friendly piano player know the songs you'd like to hear. Then join the sing-along for a hand-clapping, foot-tapping, finger-snapping good time. Don't feel like flexing your vocal cords? No worries. Shy songbirds are welcome here, too. And since it's open from early evening to late at night, it's the perfect spot for a before-dinner drink or singing 'til the wee hours of the evening.

So kick back and feel the island vibe come to life. You’ll be a local here before you know it.

Limelight Lounge

The limelight's where you want to be if you're an artist. The Limelight Lounge is too, but it's also a great place to be as a fan! Here on the stage, entertainers of all kinds — musicians, vocalists, comedians... even karaoke stars and more — make themselves at home as they practice their craft the enjoyment of the audience. So whether it's tapping your foot, bobbing your head, laughing out loud... or of course, cheering wildly, don't forget to show the entertainers some love. (To get into the Limelight Lounge yourself, you don't need a manager or audition — just get to Promenade Deck, aft where you'll find this entertainment mecca.)

Ocean Plaza

Ocean Plaza

Ocean Plaza’s where it all comes together — and all in all, it’s all kinds of delicious. Enjoy live music, coffee and snacks, dancing… and best of all the outdoors are right next door, so expect extra helpings of sunshine and sea breezes, simply ripe for the sitting and savoring. Oh, and when nature’s all done sunning for the day, Ocean Plaza transforms into a spot that’s seriously stunning for the night. Jogging track

Jogging track

Jogging may not immediately come to mind when you think of things to do at sea, but it probably should. You don’t have to walk on water, you just have to get on a Carnival cruise. After all, if you’re going to jog, you’d be hard-pressed to find a place to do it with a more scenic view, or a more refreshing breeze — both of these are available in abundance when you go for an open-air jog on the upper-deck. Jogging tracks are available on all Carnival ships, and are even padded for long-distance comfort.

Mini golf

Ah, imagine a perfect day out on the links, the golfer's zen of the ball, the hole and nothing in between but well-manicured fairway... plus one cactus, a treasure chest... and wait, is that a windmill in the way? Just who designed this course anyway? Whoever it was, they had one thing in mind — maximum fun for mini-golfers, big and small! That's precisely why you'll find a course on every Carnival ship, where you can hit the holes and take in everything you’d expect, like the sights and the sounds... plus the seagulls.

Ropes course

Ropes course

An awesome ropes course, however, will let you do all that with a cool sea breeze and a view to match! Not sure that navigating a high-up-there challenge is for you? Did we mention that on SkyCourse you'll be safely strapped in, emboldening you to take on the kinds of challenges you may not normally feel up to? Here everyone — even kids — become thrill-seekers, testing their ability to make their way around the course.

Fitness center

Fitness center

We have some bad news for you — your ship has a gym. In other words, there’s no excuse for leaving your fitness routine back on land. That’s great news, however, for your body, which will definitely benefit from all the extra energy that vacationing pumps directly into you. And let’s not forget the extra time you’ll have, since you won’t be waking up and spending most of the day at the office or anything like that. If those were some of your go-to excuses, we’re sorry, but we all know this is important. Why not treat yourself to some of our fitness classes — you might even have a little fun while you do something great for yourself!

Sauna

On a Carnival cruise, the vast and beautiful sea is all around you. You can do all the looking you want from the ship, but sorry — no touching allowed. (We’re sure you’ll understand.) That’s what the thalassotherapy pool at the onboard Cloud 9 Spa is for! Get your sea-water fix and soak completely in it, easily absorbing all the relaxing, rejuvenating benefits of the trace elements and vitamins you’ll find in nature. Oh, and here’s one thing you’ll only find in our special pool: water jets that massage and invigorate. Mother Nature’s great, but she can’t do that.

The salon

A trip to the salon is an opportunity to relax, to chat with others, to focus on yourself. It’s about more than just getting your hair or nails done… but it’s definitely about getting your hair or nails done! Even though you’re on vacation, you won’t have to settle for anything less than the salon style you’re used to back on land. And these good looks go beyond the usual — we even offer services like teeth whitening… great for taking those ‘I’m on vacation and I’m looking great!’ smiles to the next level.

All about the Carnival Breeze

Carnival Breeze cruise ship

The Carnival Breeze was built in 2012. It's considered a medium size ship. Coming in at 1,004 ft long and 122 ft wide, it's roughly the length of 2.8 football fields, as wide as 2.3 tractor trailers, and the same height as a 14-story building.

Carnival Breeze Size and Passengers

The Breeze can hold 3,690 based on double occupancy (two people per room) and more when you take into account 3rd and 4th passengers. When you compare the total tonnage of the ship to the number of passengers, the Breeze has a space ratio of 35. Depending on the ship, this number can range from 30 to 52 (with a bigger number meaning more space per person) so this ship has less space per person than average.

The Breeze is one of three Dream-class ships currently sailing with Carnival. Dream-class ships were the first Carnival ships to feature an extended, exterior promenade area. This large area has hot tubs and extra seating that's away from the hustle and bustle of the main Lido pool area. In addition, this class of ship saw the introduction of the first ropes course at sea and the Sports Square. The Breeze is very similar to its sister-ships; Dream and Magic, although each ship may have some differences.

Carnival Breeze Food and Restaurants

Carnival Deli on the Carnival Breeze

Food is a big part of any cruise, and there will plenty on the Carnival Breeze. You have 17 different dining options to choose from. Of those options, 10 are complementary, or included with your cruise fare. The other 7 options have an additional fee. Some of those options are a set price and some have a la cart menu pricing. 59% of the dining options are included which means if you're watching your budget, you won't feel like you're missing out by not going to a lot of extra fee dining places.

Carnival Breeze Bars and Drinks

Limelight Lounge on the Carnival Breeze

Carnival Breeze has 10 different bars and lounges where you can enjoy a beer or cocktail.

Alcohol is not included in the base price of this cruise ship. To see if you would save money with a drink package, try our Drink Package Calculator.

Carnival also serves the Pepsi family of products. That means Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Starry, Mug Root Beer, and Mountain Dew, although the selection can vary by ship.

Pools and Hot Tubs on Carnival Breeze

Lido deck pool and dive-in movie screen on the Carnival Breeze

Nothing beats relaxing by a pool with a nice drink in hand as you feel the fresh sea breeze pass by you. The problem is that with thousands of people on a ship, there's not always room. If you want to spend all day in a pool, a cruise might not be the right choice. You would have a much better bet choosing a resort with a huge pool complex. That being said, a quick dip in the pool can be nice on a hot day.

The Carnival Breeze has a total of 2 pools and 8 hot tubs.

Tired of loud kids and splashing? 2 of the hot tubs are adults only.

Carnival Breeze Features and Activities

There are quite a few things to do on the Breeze. These are the main amenities that are available. Some are included in the cost of the cruise, while others have an additional charge.

Carnival is a mainstream cruise line. Mainstream cruise lines cater to a variety of guests, hoping to provide something for everyone. These typically cost about $100 - $350 per person per day.

Cruise pricing is dynamic and varies for each specific sailing based on factors such as departure point, ports of call, and time of year.

Carnival Breeze Onboard Costs

Another way to gauge the cost of a cruise is to consider how much you'll spend on board. Even though a lot is included in the base cruise fare, you may still spend money on things like spa treatments, specialty dining, drinks, and excursions. In addition, guests can also have to pay for things like gratuities and tips.

Typically guests can expect to spend about 25 - 40% of the cost of the cruise on onboard expenses. In other words, if the cruise fare is $1,000 per person, you might spend between $250 and $400 on extra expenses.

The table below will help you understand what you might spend onboard a Carnival ship.

This was my very first cruise trip on a Carnival Breeze from Galveston to Cozumel on a 4 day trip. The Process was fast and easy from parking to security. Once I passed security, I was told to dump my water after entering. Before I could reach the boarding area. There was a K9 shepherd smelling people. A lady stopped me in a rude way (while walking to the boarding area), that she took my backpack and my water bottle in a way my party that i was traveling with were shocked. She could've handled this more professionally way! She took me to an area to search all off my belongings (nothing was found). Later, I was able to go to the boarding waiting area where my parties were waiting. We boarded the ship. Departure: We left at 3:30pm but in Cruise ship time. It was a very smooth sailing afterwards. The buffet line were good. If you get hungry late at night. there's a late night lunch from chicken sandwich, fries, pizza, and etc. Next morning on a friday, we sailed all day at sea. Lots of great activity on board the ship such as, casino, buffet, rope walking, basketball, also any planned activities you have in mind. My favorite part of the ship is the Adult only " serenity lounge" on the deck 15 Once we were getting ready to dock into Port of cozumel, they made an announcement almost 8 times since 5am for "Taylor" i was disturb by many announcements. Luckily they found that person before we could disembark to see Cozumel. Overall, Great outstanding staff on board the cruise. Galveston itself could use some MAJOR renovations. throughout the cruise parking lots and etc. Many updates could also be done on the cruise ship as well and into the Carnival hub app. my experience with Carnival was okay. I might try Royal caribbean...

This was my first cruise departing from Galveston, everything about the experience on board was amazing!!!

Photo of Calvin D.

My 3rd time cruising on this ship and it was pretty cool. Managed to get $1000 onboard credit to use towards internet/drink packages/excursions. Carnival isn't exactly "high end" so don't expect too much and you'll be amazed at how cool things are. Everything was pretty nice for the most part here. Staffs are super nice and the people at the bars are amazing. They all treated me great and knew my name since I frequent there. Internet isn't great but what can you expect. They offer pizza all the way till 4AM. Other food they serve would be Chinese, American, tacos. Great tasting desserts at the dinner. The dessert on the lido deck wasn't for me bc it was either dry/too sweet. Overall, I definitely would go again for the right price. They tend to offer free rooms or heavily discounted to me so I have no problem in booking here again.

First cruise! Do your research! There's too much to include so I'll just focus on the positives. (One piece of advise stay on the higher floor levels.) We had a great experience on the Carnival Breeze. Such positive light and energy from every single employee we encountered. So many things to do on the cruise ship itself or not! We chose to do basically nothing on our cruise while on the ship. But once docked we took advantage of all the excursions! Highly recommend the Dolphin VIP package and Cenotes!

This was my first Carnival cruise and I was a bit nervous with it being post Covid pandemic. I've been on a Disney cruise but I knew they were like night and day! Literally! Disney is day and carnival is night! There was always something to do from games shows to live music to events! We were on a 5 day cruise and we didn't have enough time to do everything in the ship! I tried though! Lol it was me vs carnival fun and they won everyday! Every single day I had to take a nap so I could continue in on the fun. The nightlife was always a 10! And the food was amazing! I'm not a big buffet girl so I was nervous about that. But guess what??? I rarely ate at the buffet. For breakfast, I used the app to reserve a seat for myself in the main restaurant where we had dinner every night. I was able to order omelettes, French toast and lots of crispy bacon. Then for lunch, there were two food spots by Guy Fieri- Guys Burger Joint and Guys Pig and Anchor (BBQ). These two good spots alone made me not want the buffet. The lines were long but it was always worth it! And they were restaurants included in the price of the cruise!!! For dinner, we ate at the main dining area, as this was the one meal we were guaranteed to see each other. I loved that I could use the app to see what was for dinner each night, so I always got excited hours before. I'm greedy and good food excites me. I had steak a couple of nights and the mashed potatoes were amazing! They even had exquisite foods, that you might have never had before but wanted to try. I tried something new each night... fyi frog legs taste like chicken. Lol Everyone was so nice and I felt bad because the staff all knew my name but I struggled remembering theirs. I don't know how they do it! Anyway, five days went by way too fast!!! And I'm ready to go again. I can't wait!

My family and I went on our first cruise. We traveled on the Carnival Cruise line Breeze ship. We disembarked out of the Port of Galvaston. We drove up the night before we left and stayed at the Harbor House Hotel on Pier 21. We parked our car at the lot next to our hotel. That morning we took a shuttle to the port and made our way through the long lines. A hour and a half of waiting and we made it through customs. We chose to keep our bags and made it to our room in another hour. We were in a hot tube by 2:30pm when most were still getting to their room. Pro tip. Watch YouTube to get inside secrets on cruise best practices. Day one room was clean and prepped. Taco bar for dinner. Day two was all day exploring the ship. Breakfast lunch and dinner were great. Dinner was especially nice with a classy sit down meal where the entire staff knew our names and were really attentive. The service was excellent without being impersonal. Samuel, Kevin and Riezel were so charming and warm. I was kinda blown away by the overall experience because I imagined it was going to be like a busy mall bustling with screaming kids. Our trip to Cozumel and Progresso ports was so fun. We snorkeled in Cozumel and we took a tour bus to the Mayan ruins in Uxmal from the Port of Progresso. We opted for the excursions while in both ports and super excited we did. I need to write a review of each excursion because each one was really special. I know my wife was so impressed she just scheduled a cruise for our family for next Christmas. You can find things to bother you if you are looking for them but we were looking to have some fun and a many good times that week. Try a Carnival Cruise out of Galvaston, TX. You might find the fun we had.

I loved this cruise ship and it's staff! I do have 2 complaints though. 1 being the onboard messaging feature in the HUB really needs work and definitely should NOT be a charge for it. It's very sketchy as the messages don't go through for hours at times. My second complaint is the debarking process. This also is a mess! Passengers should be required to wait in their rooms or on deck 10 until they're numbers are called. Passengers waiting on the actual floors is a hazard and causes a huge delay in others who are being called to get through to get down and exit the ship. That will also help keep ppl from going down and they're not called. The way it is now is enough to keep me from cruising for a while, on Carnival atleast. Other than that, I had an amazing time and will definitely do it again but it will be a while. It's alot of work!

My family enjoyed this cruise, we didn't have many issues at all. Housekeeping was very nice and thorough, waiters at dining and bars were very nice and helpful. The boat was clean, however smelled bad at times near our staterooms at least. The floors were slippery outside our rooms in dining areas, it was my comfortable shoes I chose to wear, but the floors were always damp. One woman fell, I was sure I would at some point but I did not . We had drink package and I was surprised not to have had a buzz while drinking. The drinks were good in some bars and others just taste thrown together which came out either too sweet or too much alcohol flavor, so not a good balanced drink. Look around each bar has their own specialty drinks which we liked the variety. The burgers were great, the wok was great. We usually dined in the restaurants and the food was fine. Some nights better than others. Diverse crowd, no issues really. The wifi and hub app did not work most of the time for us. It is $5 pp and 2 were refunded. I saw people sitting outside their rooms to get a connection. We also had the pleasure of going to the medical late night. The phone did not work in our room to get to medical, so we walked around trying to find our way. We ended up using a phone in the hall and it worked. They told us yo go yo our room and nurse would meet us bc they are closed (1:30 am) Nurse called and told us where to go. My son had an allergic reaction and we paid the price for forgetting to pack Benadryl! $150 late night medical fee and $10 for 10 Benadryl pills. $12 for Benadryl shot. The healthcare providers were very nice and service was quick. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and will most definitely cruise with Carnival again with our family.

This was by far my best cruise with Carnival. The ship was very clean, my room steward, and wait staff were AMAZING and I felt like royalty! The crew that I interacted with the most greeted me by name each time we crossed paths. This was also the largest ship is been on and I was barely in the room. i I love balcony rooms, it is the best way for me to cruise, and although I may not have been in the room much, it was nice still come to my room and enjoy the breeze when Lido/ppl/noise got overwhelming. The food was better than previous cruises and there are multiple places to eat!!! Try the steakhouse at least once. The entertainment in the dining room, atrium, comedy shows, and playlist productions were GREAT! Our cruise director was Lawrence and he was a ball of energy! The activities planned kept me engaged and there was always something that I wanted to do the entire cruise. I left from Galveston, the Strand is/was my favorite part of Galveston. Embarkation was quick and easy. Debarkation was hectic trying to get from Lido to the lower deck, but once there the line moved quickly. Overall I would def cruise the Breeze again, perhaps from a diff port tho. Oh if you have the CHEERS package it does not start until the 2nd day of the cruise due to Texas laws.

I haven't been on a cruise since pre covid days (October 2019) and it seems things are back to "normal" for the cruises. This is my first time boarding from Galveston and the check in process was so smooth! It's best to get there early to beat the rush of last minute passengers. Parking was the only headache, and finding the designated lot for your ship considering so many ships leave from Galveston. I did the 5 day cruise to Cozumel and Costa Maya. Unfortunately, there was an onboard emergency which changed our schedule however, the Breeze adjusted to the changes very well. Though some excursions were cancelled due to the change, most people were able to keep their excursions just at a different time. The offer a variety of excursions from beach days, shopping, island tours, or even snorkeling. The food was amazing! From the burgers, tacos Or omelettes on the Lido deck to the excellent service in the restaurants. The housekeeping staff were very nice and accommodating. I thoroughly enjoyed the towel animals. The Sea Day itineraries were packed with entertainment however, I feel it could've been a little better. They also charge for bingo now which wasn't the case pre covid. I guess, they need to find a way to make their money back somehow. Overall, I enjoyed my time on the Breeze and can't wait to book again.

The 8 classes of Carnival Cruise Line ships, explained

MSN has partnered with The Points Guy for our coverage of credit card products. MSN and The Points Guy may receive a commission from card issuers.

Thinking about a cruise on a Carnival Cruise Line ship? You have a lot of options.

By the summer of 2024, Carnival will have 27 vessels in service — all currently available to book. That’s more ships than any other major cruise line except Royal Caribbean , which will have 28 vessels in service by the summer of 2024.

In general, Carnival ships are large but, aside from two exceptions, they’re not giants by today’s standards. Over the past two years, Carnival has begun operating its first two truly giant ships in years — the 181,808-ton, 5,282-passenger Mardi Gras and the 183,521-ton Carnival Celebration .

Other than these two ships, Carnival’s biggest vessel is the 4,090-passenger Carnival Venezia , which measures just 135,225 tons. That’s about 40% smaller than the biggest ships operated by Royal Caribbean .

Six of the 27 vessels Carnival will operate by the summer of 2024 measure less than 100,000 tons, which makes them almost mid-size by today’s cruise ship standards.

This is a notable change for the brand from just a couple of decades ago. There was a time when Carnival operated some of the biggest cruise ships in the world. However, for many years, it has held back from following rivals such as Royal Caribbean and MSC Cruises in building ever-bigger ships. Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration are now the only Carnival ships on the list of the world’s 50 biggest cruise vessels.

The arrival of Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration has marked a major turning point for the line. The two vessels rank 15th and 13th, respectively, on the list of the world’s largest cruise ships — the first Carnival ships to crack the Top 20 in quite a few years. They are 35% bigger than the line’s next-biggest ship. One more ship in the series — Carnival Jubilee — will arrive in late 2023.

The good news for those of you trying to get a handle on all the options within the Carnival fleet is that the line’s ships can easily be bunched into just eight groups of vessels that have similar amenities. If you know one member of the group, you know them all.

Each of these groups — known as “classes” in cruise industry lingo — is made up of ships that were constructed around the same time with the same basic design.

An introduction to Carnival Cruise Line ships

As mentioned above, Carnival’s ships can be broken down into eight distinct groups or classes. A key detail about Carnival ships is that there are a lot of similarities from class to class within the Carnival fleet.

Unlike Royal Caribbean and some other cruise lines, Carnival doesn’t always drastically change the design of its ships from class to class.

Related: The ultimate guide to Carnival Cruise Line

Instead, Carnival usually takes an incremental approach to design changes for its new classes of ships. You’ll find a lot in common between the Vista class and Dream class, for instance. These two classes aren’t all that different in feel from the earlier Splendor and Conquest classes of ships, though they are a bit bigger.

That said, Carnival is in the midst of a major change in its philosophy on ship design. Its new Excel-class vessels — which first debuted in 2021 with the arrival of Mardi Gras — are far bigger than its earlier ships. These ships also have a lot of new features and amenities (including the first-ever roller coaster on a cruise ship — and, no, we’re not making that up).

Related: The 4 new giants of the cruise world — and how to book them

For many years, Carnival steered clear of the big ship trends in the industry. Executives thought the ever-bigger vessels being deployed by such lines as Royal Caribbean and MSC Cruises were too big to make for an enjoyable cruise experience.

Now, Carnival is switching gears — no doubt because the giant ships unveiled by some other lines have been enormously popular with cruisers.

At Carnival, as at other lines, the biggest ships in the fleet have the most amenities, eateries, lounges, bars and deck-top attractions than the smaller ships. This can be a huge plus for travelers who like to have a lot of options when vacationing.

However, Carnival’s biggest ships also sail with more passengers, which can be a turnoff if you’re the kind of traveler who likes a more intimate experience.

In general, Carnival’s biggest and most amenity-packed ships are its newest ships. If you’re looking for a cruise experience with the most possible onboard activities and venues, you’ll want to steer toward the vessels in Carnival’s new Excel class and its relatively young Vista and Dream classes.

If cruising in a more intimate environment is your preference, you’ll want to look at some of Carnival’s older classes of ships including the Spirit and Fantasy classes.

The Carnival fleet is scheduled to grow over the next year with two more new vessels. As noted above, the line has ordered a third Excel-class ship (Carnival Jubilee) that will be ready to sail in December 2023.

In addition, the line will begin operating a ship currently in the fleet of its sister line Costa Cruises — Costa Firenze — in May 2024. It’ll be renamed Carnival Firenze and sail from Los Angeles.

Excel class

Ships in class: Mardi Gras (2021), Carnival Celebration (2022) and Carnival Jubilee (coming December 2023).

Size: 181,808 to 183,521 tons.

If you’re in the “bigger is better” camp when it comes to cruise ships, this is the Carnival class for you.

At a bit over 180,000 tons, Carnival’s three new Excel-class vessels — one of which, Carnival Jubilee, is still under construction — are 35% bigger than the line’s next-biggest ships and offer more eateries, lounges, bars and deck-top attractions than any other ships in the Carnival fleet by far.

Designed to take Carnival’s “fun ship” shtick to a new level, the ships are so big that, as noted above, they have room for roller coasters on their top decks — a cruise industry first. They also have a far broader array of suites than earlier Carnival vessels.

Among the new dining venues on the ships are the first Emeril Lagasse restaurant at sea, as well as the first Big Chicken eatery at sea. (Big Chicken is a chain created by basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal, who also serves as a Carnival spokesperson.)

Related: The 5 best destinations you can visit on a Carnival cruise

In addition to featuring a roller coaster, Mardi Gras was the first ship from a North America-based line designed to operate on liquefied natural gas. The fuel is touted as being cleaner than traditional ship fuel.

One caveat to keep in mind if you’re thinking of booking an Excel-class ship: They sail with a very large number of people. If being around crowds bothers you, these may not be the ships for you. The vessels are designed to hold a whopping 5,282 passengers at double occupancy. With every pullout sofa and pull-down bunk filled, they can hold up to 6,630 passengers.

Vista/Venezia class

Ships in class: Carnival Panorama (2019), Carnival Horizon (2018), Carnival Vista (2016), Carnival Venezia (2023) and Carnival Firenze (coming in 2024).

Size: 133,596 to 135,225 tons.

With the arrival of Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration, the Vista-class and Venezia-class ships (so similar that we have combined them into one entry) are no longer the biggest and most amenity-packed ships in the Carnival fleet. Still, they offer a lot of options when it comes to eateries, bars, lounges and deck-top attractions — more than you’ll find on most other Carnival vessels.

All four vessels in the Vista and Venezia classes have water parks with waterslides on their top decks, as well as miniature golf courses, ropes courses and multiple pool areas. They’re also known for their pedal-powered, suspended-in-the-air SkyRide attractions.

Carnival Vista and Carnival Horizon, which officially are Vista-class ships, also have Imax theaters — the first in the cruise industry. Carnival Panorama, also a Vista-class ship, instead has the first trampoline park ever put on a cruise ship , in a partnership with Sky Zone.

There’s also a smorgasbord of restaurants, bars and lounges on all of the vessels. Among the many offerings on these ships are Carnival’s first breweries at sea (on all the vessels except Carnival Venezia, which is officially known as a Venezia-class ship and has a few notable differences).

On Carnival Panorama and Carnival Horizon, Guy’s Pig & Anchor Smokehouse | Brewhouse offers beer brewed on-site along with barbecue dishes designed by the Food Network’s Guy Fieri. On Carnival Vista, there’s a stand-alone brewery and a separate barbecue venue.

Other eateries on the ships include casual, Guy Fieri-designed Guy’s Burger Joint, Chipotle-like burrito spot BlueIguana Cantina (on Carnival Venezia, this is called Tomodoro and also serves a few Italian items), sushi outlets and steakhouses. Carnival Vista, Carnival Horizon and Carnival Panorama also feature Italian eatery Cucina Del Capitano, as well as JiJi Asian Kitchen, while Carnival Venezia has an Italian restaurant called Il Viaggio.

Carnival Horizon, Carnival Panorama and Carnival Venezia also have teppanyaki restaurants, and all four ships have dedicated chef’s tables located within their galleys.

Both the Vista-class and Venezia-class ships were built on the same basic design platform and are roughly the same size with similar layouts. But Carnival Venezia originally was built for Carnival’s Italy-based sister brand, Costa Cruises. As a result, it has a much stronger Italy theme and a few design differences. Still, enough is the same that for all practical purposes, it is a Vista-class ship in all but name. Hence our combining the two classes into one listing.

Related: Our thoughts after sailing on Carnival Venezia

The Vista-class ships were, notably, the first ships in the Carnival fleet to boast exclusive, keycard-restricted cabin areas — a trend that has been growing at many mass-market lines. There are two such areas on the three Vista-class ships: Havana Cabanas and Family Harbor, the latter of which is specifically geared toward families. Carnival Venezia has a keycard-restricted area called Terrazza Carnevale.

The water park area on Carnival Horizon is particularly alluring if you’re a Dr. Seuss fan. Unique among the water parks in the Carnival fleet, it has a Dr. Seuss theme. The water park area on Carnival Venezia also is notable as it has one more water slide than the water parks on the Vista-class ships.

All of these ships hold about 4,000 passengers each, based on double occupancy.

Note that one more Costa Cruises ship that is similar to Carnival Venezia (Costa Firenze) will be joining the Carnival fleet in 2024. It’ll be renamed Carnival Firenze.

Dream class

Ships in class: Carnival Breeze (2012), Carnival Magic (2011) and Carnival Dream (2009).

Size: 130,000 tons.

Carnival’s Dream-class ships are roughly the same size as its Vista-class ships, and the two classes have a lot in common. Still, there are a few key differences.

For starters, the Dream-class ships don’t have Imax theaters or trampoline parks. Both were innovations that debuted with the Vista-class ships. They also lack exclusive, keycard-restricted cabin areas and some of the eateries found on Vista-class ships.

Still, for the most part, if you’ve been on a Vista-class ship, you’ll immediately feel at home on a Dream-class ship.

Related: The ultimate guide to Carnival’s VIFP Club loyalty program

Dream-class ships share some of the same amenities as Vista-class ships. For instance, Carnival Dream and Carnival Magic both feature ropes courses on their top decks while Carnival Breeze has a 4D “thrill theater.” These innovations first debuted on Dream-class ships.

Dream-class ships also offer water parks with waterslides on their top decks, miniature golf courses, sports courts for basketball and volleyball, and multiple pools.

Interior venues on Dream-class ships include Punchliner comedy clubs, piano bars, casinos and showrooms for big production shows. The dining options are similar to what you’ll find on Vista-class ships; Guy’s Burger Joint, BlueIguana Cantina, steakhouses and the Italian eatery Cucina Del Capitano are included on all three vessels.

Two of the three ships — Carnival Breeze and Carnival Dream — also have sushi eateries, while Carnival Breeze and Carnival Magic have Carnival’s Caribbean-inspired watering hole, RedFrog Pub.

The ships in this class hold 3,646 to 3,690 passengers, based on double occupancy.

Splendor class

Ships in class: Carnival Splendor (2008).

Size: 113,300 tons.

Carnival Splendor is an outlier in the Carnival fleet — a ship that makes up a class all its own. That said, it has a lot in common with the ships of Carnival’s Conquest-class ships (see below).

Originally designed and ordered for Italy-based Costa Cruises — a sister brand to Carnival — the ship is actually a sister vessel to Costa’s four Concordia-class ships. It will be familiar to anyone who knows Carnival ships because the design of Costa’s Concordia class was based upon the design of Carnival’s Conquest class, and the two classes are very similar.

The main difference between Carnival Splendor and its Conquest-class cousins is that the former has an enlarged and redesigned top deck area. The structure around the main pool of the ship is noticeably different, with a retractable, sliding glass roof that you won’t find on the Conquest-class ships, as well as a water play area for kids. The ship also has a bigger spa area.

Other than that, though, Carnival Splendor is basically a variation of the Conquest-class ships. Size-wise, it’s just a few thousand tons bigger. It holds 3,012 passengers, based on double occupancy.

Conquest class

Ships in class: Carnival Freedom (2007), Carnival Liberty (2005), Carnival Valor (2004), Carnival Glory (2003) and Carnival Conquest (2002).

Size: 110,000 tons.

At 111,000 tons, the Conquest-class ships (and Carnival Splendor, noted above) are about 20% smaller than the newer Vista-class and Dream-class ships. As a result, they have somewhat fewer amenities.

Still, you’ll find a lot of the classic Carnival “fun ship” attractions on these vessels including water play areas with waterslides, miniature golf courses and adults-only Serenity deck-top retreat areas.

You’ll also find a solid array of eateries on each of the ships including a Guy’s Burger Joint, BlueIguana Cantina burrito outlets and steakhouses.

In addition to being smaller than Vista-class and Dream-class ships, Conquest-class ships also sail with fewer passengers. All of the Conquest-class vessels hold just shy of 3,000 passengers at double occupancy — about 1,000 fewer passengers than the Vista-class ships.

That’s a noticeable difference if you’re the kind of vacationer who doesn’t like to be around giant crowds. For some Carnival fans, the smaller size of the Conquest class and Splendor class makes these ships appealing. Others prefer the added amenities that come with the bigger ships.

Spirit class

Ships in class: Carnival Miracle (2004), Carnival Legend (2002), Carnival Pride (2002), Carnival Spirit (2001) and Carnival Luminosa (2009).

Size: 88,500 tons.

Carnival Spirit-class ships are the adventurers of the Carnival fleet.

The vessels are built for “all-weather” cruising, with pools that can be covered by retractable domes when it’s cold and stormy. These are the ships that sail in places such as Alaska, where even in the summer it can be too chilly for sunning on an open pool deck.

These are also the ships that Carnival uses for winter sailings to the Caribbean from Baltimore, which can involve a day or two of cold and stormy sailing in the Atlantic.

In some recent years, Carnival has also deployed one of its Spirit-class ships across the Pacific to Australia — the most far-flung destination that it offers on its schedule.

In addition to having a weather-proof main pool area, the Spirit-class ships are great for far-flung destinations because of their relatively small size, which allows them to access smaller ports. At just 88,500 tons, they’re among the smallest ships in the Carnival fleet — less than half the size of Carnival’s new Excel-class vessels.

The Spirit-class ships are notably lower and sleeker than most other vessels in the Carnival fleet. Passing under relatively small bridges is not a problem for them. Unlike a lot of recently built cruise vessels, they also are thin enough in the middle that they can squeeze through the old locks of the Panama Canal.

The Spirit-class vessels also boast the largest percentage of balcony cabins and oceanview cabins in the Carnival fleet, which makes them perfect for a destination such as Alaska where being able to watch the scenery from your cabin is a big plus.

They’re also relatively intimate ships, holding just 2,124 passengers at double occupancy. By modern-day cruise ship standards, that makes them “mid-size” vessels.

Still, you can expect to find many of the same fun-focused features on Spirit-class ships that you’ll find on the line’s bigger vessels, including water parks with waterslides and miniature golf courses.

Spirit-class ships also have one of the most unique features in all of the cruising industry — special date-night restaurants that are incorporated into their funnels and feature translucent glass-dome ceilings.

Note that one of the Spirit-class ships, Carnival Luminosa, was originally built for Costa Cruises, a sister line to Carnival (it originally sailed under the name Costa Luminosa). The vessel was built to the same basic specifications as the four Spirit-class vessels built for Carnival in this class, although it is a tad bigger and can hold a few more passengers. It dates to 2009.

Sunshine class

Ships in class: Carnival Radiance (2000/2021), Carnival Sunrise (1999/2019) and Carnival Sunshine (1996/2013).

Size: 102,000 tons.

The Sunshine class (once known as the Destiny class) may be the most unusual class of ships in the Carnival fleet. On paper, the ships in this class are among the oldest vessels that Carnival operates. However, you also can make an argument that they are among the newest vessels in the line.

This is because each of the ships in this series has been almost completely gutted and rebuilt from the waterline up.

The makeovers of the ships, which began in 2013, were so thorough that Carnival has given each of the vessels a new name. Carnival Sunshine is what old-time Carnival fans will remember as Carnival Destiny. Carnival Sunrise is the former Carnival Triumph. Carnival Radiance is the ship that began life as Carnival Victory.

Carnival spent $200 million alone in 2019 overhauling Carnival Sunrise. In addition to sprucing up just about every space on the ship, the money was used to add classic Carnival attractions that the ship lacked. This included a full-blown water park, which replaced a single waterslide on one of its top decks.

Carnival Sunrise also received a SportSquare area on its top deck like the ones found on newer Carnival vessels. It has a ropes course, basketball court, miniature golf course, outdoor pool and ping-pong tables. Carnival didn’t end the deck-top changes there. It also found space for another signature Carnival offering that had been lacking: an adults-only Serenity outdoor lounge area with padded loungers, daybeds, a hot tub and a full bar.

In addition, Carnival Sunrise now has half a dozen new food and beverage venues including a version of Carnival’s signature steakhouse, Fahrenheit 555; Carnival’s signature Italian eatery, Cucina Del Capitano; and a Bonsai Express sushi outlet.

Related: Our take on Carnival’s revamped Carnival Sunrise

The overhaul of Carnival Sunshine, which took place in 2013, brought similar changes, as well as a complete renovation of the ship’s pool area that incorporated a multideck waterfall.

Carnival Radiance, for its part, just emerged from its long-scheduled overhaul, which was delayed in late 2021 by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Note that even after the makeovers, the ships still don’t have all the bells and whistles of Carnival’s truly new ships, such as Carnival Panorama. As noted above, Carnival’s newest ships are bigger than its older ships, allowing for more attractions, restaurants and lounges.

At around 102,000 tons, the Sunshine-class ships are more than 20% smaller than Carnival Panorama and more than 40% smaller than Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration.

The ships hold from 2,984 to 3,002 passengers, based on double occupancy.

Interestingly, these weren’t always considered smaller vessels. In fact, when the line first unveiled Carnival Sunshine in 1996 (back when it was called Carnival Destiny), it was the biggest cruise ship in the world. It also was the first cruise ship to surpass 100,000 tons.

Now, it doesn’t even crack the list of the 50 biggest cruise vessels.

Fantasy class

Ships in class: Carnival Paradise (1998) and Carnival Elation (1998).

Size: 70,000 tons.

Built in the 1990s, the Fantasy-class ships are Carnival’s oldest and smallest ships, and the line is in the process of phasing them out. Going into 2020, the line had eight of these vessels. It removed four of them from its fleet soon after the COVID-19 pandemic began, and this year it removed two more — Carnival Sensation and Carnival Ecstasy.

The two Fantasy-class ships that are left are mostly used in secondary ports — such as Jacksonville, Florida, and Mobile, Alabama — that might not be able to support bigger vessels.

Related: Why I’m sad to see Carnival retiree its smallest ship

While still much-beloved by Carnival fans, in part for their intimate size, these ships notably lack a large number of balcony cabins — the cabin type that everyone wants these days. Most of the cabins on these ships are ocean-view cabins that only offer a window or a porthole, or windowless inside cabins.

That said, the two remaining Fantasy-class ships have undergone renovations over the years to add more balcony cabins. Depending on the ship, there were between 98 and 150 new balconies added, including new suites.

The ships have relatively fewer amenities and venues than the newer and bigger Carnival ships. You won’t find giant water parks on these vessels as you would on newer Carnival ships. You will find multiple slides and a spray park for the kids, though. The dining options are also limited.

Still, for a lot of Carnival fans, these are fun ships.

Two vessels each hold around 2,100 passengers, based on double occupancy.

Bottom line

Carnival has quite a few different classes of ships, but the differences between many of them aren’t as big as the differences between classes at other lines.

You’ll find a lot of consistency from ship to ship in the Carnival fleet in the type of venues that you find on board. In recent years, Carnival has spent $2 billion overhauling many of its ships to create that consistency in onboard venues and amenities.

Vacationers looking for a big resort experience with a lot of options should choose one of Carnival’s newest ships, which are bigger and have more amenities. If you’re looking for more intimacy on a cruise ship, some of the older classes of ships, such as those in the Spirit class, might be just right.
