Prague is the capital city and the largest in the Czech Republic. It is actually one of the largest cities in Central Europe and has served as the capital of the historic region of Bohemia for centuries. This magical city of bridges, cathedrals, gold-tipped towers and church domes is mirrored on the surface of the swan-filled Vltava. Almost undamaged by WWII, Prague's medieval centre remains a wonderful mixture of cobbled lanes, walled courtyards, cathedrals and countless church spires all in the shadow of her majestic 9th-century castle. Prague is also a modern and vibrant city full of energy, music, cultural art, fine dining and special events. It is regarded by many as one of Europe's most charming and beautiful cities to be experienced on Czech Republic tours.

Prague was founded in the late 9th century, and soon became the seat of Bohemian kings, some of whom ruled as Emperors of the Holy Roman Empire. In 1918, after World War I, the city became the capital of Czechoslovakia. In 1992, its historic centre was included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. In 1993, Czechoslovakia split into two countries and Prague became the capital city of the new Czech Republic. The Vltava River runs through Prague.

Some of the highlights of experiencing Prague vacations include the following. Prague Castle (Hradcany) is the biggest ancient castle in the world, according to the Guinness Book of World Records, and rises like a dream above the city offering beautiful views of the areas below. This includes St. Vitus Cathedral with its lookout tower, the Castle Picture Gallery, several palaces and museums and the beautiful Royal Garden. One can watch the Presidential Guard and the changeover of the guards on duty on the hour. Charles Bridge connects Old Town with Lesser Town. Its construction started in the 14th century and it is one of Prague's most beautiful structures. During the day, it is a bustling place of trade and entertainment, as musicians busk and artists sell their paintings and jewellery. Old Town, Prague's historic centre, includes numerous historic buildings and monuments, most notably the famed Astronomical Clock, the pure Gothic Tyn Church, the mural-covered Storch building and the Jan Hus monument. Old Town contains many historical churches and some other interesting historical buildings like the Old Town Hall. The historic Jewish ghetto is interesting for its well-preserved synagogues. The Old New Synagogue is Europe's oldest active synagogue. Another interesting synagogue is the Spanish Synagogue, a highly ornamental building in Moorish style. Other attractions include the Old Jewish Cemetery which is the oldest in Europe and Kafka's house. New Town was established as an extension of OldTown in the 14th century, though much of the area has now been reconstructed. The main attraction here is Wenceslas Square, a rectangular commercial square with many stalls, shops and restaurants. At the top of the square is the National Museum. Halfway down this historic boulevard, there are trendy discos and Art Nouveau hotels as well as quaint parks and arcades while just off the beaten path are some wonderful panoramic views (HenryTower), romantic restaurants and the dazzling, Disney-colored Jubilee Synagogue. Across the Vltava River from the city centre on Prague vacations and leading to the castle is Lesser Town, a quarter also offering beautiful streets and churches (of which St. Nicholas Church is the most renowned). Strahov Monastery on the mountain is worth a visit for both its picture gallery and its notable Renaissance library. Prague’s Dancing House is one of the most fascinating architectural expressions of Prague co-designed by Vlado Milunic and Frank Gehry.

The Czech Republic is the country where modern beer (pivo in Czech) was invented (in Plzen). Czechs are the heaviest beer drinkers in the world and going to a cozy Czech pub for dinner and a few beers is a must!  Czech lager is nothing like the fizzy lagers found in many other countries. Instead, it has a very strong, hoppy, almost bitter flavour and goes very well with heavy dishes like duck or pork and dumplings or strong cheese. Pubs (in Czech "hospoda") abound throughout Prague and indeed are an important part of the local culture. The exact brands of beer usually vary from pub to pub and recommendations are difficult to give as natives are usually willing to argue at lengths about their preferences. The most internationally recognized beers are Pilsner Urquell and Budweiser Budvar to be enjoyed on Czech Republic tours.

• Charles Bridge: Bridge connects not only roads but also people. This medieval stone arch bridge on River Vltava with 516 meters in length and nearly 10 meters wide. It is a perfect place to take a stroll. Charles Bridge was the most important connection between Prague Castle and the city's Old Town and adjacent areas until 1841. This land connection made Prague important as a trade route between Eastern and Western Europe.
• Prague Castle : This castle is the official residence of the President of the Czech Republic. One can enjoy the many buildings, gardens, and courtyards here. It is divided into several distinct areas. As per the Guinness Book of Records, Prague Castle is the largest ancient castle in the world, occupying almost 70,000 square meters. The castle is among Prague's most visited tourist attractions, attracting over 1.8 million visitors annually.
• Wenceslas Square: Apart from heritage sightseeing, one needs some leisure time to relax. The National Museum and numerous other architectural treasures can be visited at Wenceslas Square. This has an excellent combination of shopping centers and food joints. It also has a space that is used for staging protests and demonstrations. 
• St Cythius and St Methodical Cathedral: The basilica, which measures 75 meters in length, 31 meters in width, and 27.5 meters in height, is one of the most significant religious buildings in Prague constructed in the Romanesque style. 
• Prague Astronomical Clock: We all see time on our watch / regular clock, but this clock is an ancient clock that is still used in Prague as a respect to the catholic saints. This is because it shows the time of the moon and sun and predicts the eclipses. The dial also shows the year's months, which is why it is astronomical.
• Strahov Monastery: This is a sacred monument in the Strahov district of Prague, which is about a 20-minute walk from Prague Castle. It is said to be one of the oldest existing monasteries in the world. The complex has the famous Strahov Library and Picture Gallery, the Basilica of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, the Abbey Building, and the Convent Building. Strahov Library has over 200 thousand books stored in its unique depository. In addition, visitors can enjoy local specialties in its Great Monastery Restaurant and the Strahov Monastery Brewery. 
• St. Vitus Cathedral: Dedicated to Saint Vitus, it is the largest and most important church in the Czech Republic and one of Prague's most popular tourist attractions. The cathedral is located on the hilltop overlooking the city within the Prague Castle Complex, which is like a small town with several grand buildings, gardens, and courtyards. The palace complex is the largest worldwide and took several centuries to complete. Royal Families had their weddings and burials in the cathedral. 
• Old Jewish Cemetery: This, one of the oldest Jewish cemeteries in the world, is in the Josefov, the Jewish Quarter, one block away from the famous Old-New Synagogue. It holds around 12,000 visible tombstones in a small yard, only a tiny part of the thousands of graves buried below. There are two significant graves here - the oldest, which belongs to the poet Avigdor Kara and the famous grave of Jehuda ben Bezalel, known for creating the “Golem of Prague.”
• Prague Zoological Garden: Apart from visiting non-living monuments, it is interesting to be in the company of nature. The Prague Zoo is 4 km from downtown Prague, well known for breeding the rare Przewalski’s horse. This municipal zoo was opened in 1931 and occupies 45 hectares (111 acres) of land. It is home to over 2,300 specimens spanning 465 species. It also has a substantial collection of Asiatic animals, South American and Australian species. In addition, the zoo is known for breeding maned wolves, two-toed sloths, cheetahs, and kulan - a species of the endangered Asiatic wild ass.

Things to do in Prague

• Enjoy mouthwatering food: Try the world-famous long pastry called Tredlink at every corner of Prague. The next is Goulash, a little salty dish, like a kind of dumpling/momos eaten dry, and is one of the best specialties usually eaten with paprika. For nonvegetarians, the best dish to try is grilled sausages, known as Grilovanne Klobassy, eaten on bread as a hot dog. This has a unique taste of pickled-flavored cheese, and it is something unique that you can only find in Prague. Finally, if you want liquid accompaniment, try what Prague is known for - Moravian Wine made freshly from the farmland vineyards 150 miles from Prague.
• Taste the famous Prague beer: Since the Czech Republic has the highest beer consumption per capita in the world, it is also home to one of the best beers in the world. The most common Czech beers are pale lagers of the pilsner type. It comes in transparent golden color with high foaminess and a mild flavor. Prague Beer is easily affordable, as the average price of beer is about 35 CSK (Czech Crowns).
• Enjoy the nightlife: Prague is as famous as its sightseeing marvels. It brightens up once the sun goes down. From traditional beer halls, street musicians, dance clubs, jazz bars, and wine shops to pubs, cafes, and casinos, the city gives you several options to enjoy your nights in this heart of Europe.
• Experience the festivals :  Prague has a rich cultural heritage, and people enjoy festivals and celebrations. From Halloween to Christmas and New Year, all festivals are celebrated enthusiastically, accompanied by rum cake, wine, and chocolates. 
• Take a leap of faith with skydiving: Prague is famous for its tandem skydiving. It is a popular adventure activity to do here. It is an out-of-the-world experience that allows fantastic views of the beautiful countryside in the Czech Republic from about 4000 meters above the land. This was an excellent trip and good value. Local guides were engaged in most of the destinations and there was a good balance of free time and organized activity. The one downside of Trafalger tours is that the main escort is not necessarily from the host region, and there is a 'big-bus' feel. That said, the escorts are professionals and have good group management skills.

Hi Europamundo has designed very good tour itineraries but it totally depends on the interest of he tour guides on that day or trip. We found most of the guides not interested to give the best value for the guests, to give you an example our tour guide was giving least time at places of tourist importance and giving extra time at stops of service stations where he is relaxing . Everyone was disturbed as he was rushing us at places of tourist importance and within 30 mins of leaving town he says 1 hour break at service station. Please from now on give instructions that maximum time should be allocated for tourist purpose. Rwegards Ravi

So, while the Spanish-speaking people had dinners arranged and tickets for museums, like the Louvre, the English-speakers were left out. We didn't get a chance to see the Louvre, for example, because the line for tickets was a mile long. Also, Miguel tended to provide very long explanations of sites in Spanish, but a few sentences in English. It wasn't right and the few English-speaking tourists on the bus resented being left out.

How Many Drinks You'll Need to Have Per Day to Make a Cruise Drinks Package Worth It, According to a Travel Agent

F or a lot of people, cruising is synonymous with indulging, whether that’s about shore excursions , spa offerings, food, or drinks. And why shouldn’t it be? You’re on vacation on a shiny floating hotel where the only thing on the agenda is to relax, enjoy yourself, and let loose a little. The only issue with indulging is the price tag associated with it. Because unless you are on an all-inclusive cruise , you’re going to have to pay for everything extra, and cruise lines are pretty pushy when it comes to getting you to sign up for specialty dining, thermal spa access, and especially drinks packages .

All the cruise lines that don’t have drinks included in their base price offer a variety of drinks packages. Some drinks package focus on alcoholic drinks, while others cover specialty coffees, water, or soft drinks. Some packages even include everything so you can have whatever you want at any time, from wine to cocktails, to lattes, Perrier water, and Coca-Cola, for example. Every drinks package comes at a different price point in the form of a daily rate, not a flat rates, so the longer the cruise, the more you’ll spend. And that’s why you need to think long and hard before you purchase, or not purchase, a drinks package.

As explained by travel agent Elisa from The Paradise Travel Group in a TikTok video, you need to make sure the drinks packages on offer on your cruise are right for you. That means counting how many drinks you’ll need to have per day, per person, to make a cruise drinks package’s daily rate worth it. If you don’t feel like getting your calculator out, you’re in luck because Elisa’s done it for you: About six or seven alcoholic drinks a day is when you’re breaking even on your drinks package.

Some questions you might want to ask yourself before you purchase a drinks package:

• Will I be able to drink that much alcohol, coffee, soda, without pushing myself to the limit? You don’t want to spend your vacation either drunk, running for the bathroom, or hyped up on sugar, just because you want to stick one to the cruise line.
• Will I be spending enough time on the ship every day to make the drinks package worth it? If you’re out for hours on shore excursions, you likely won’t have the opportunity to drink that much.
• Will the person sharing my cabin be able to drink that much every day? Because, on most cruise lines, if you purchase a drinks package, the person sharing your cabin will have to buy the exact same one. That’s a strategy from most cruise lines to prevent passengers from buying one drinks package for two people.
• Do I want to keep track on my drinks spending on board? Some people purchase drinks packages so they don’t have to keep track of any a-la-carte spendings, but that can be a very expensive, and wasteful, way to cruise. Checking your on-board statement daily is easy and highly recommended if you don’t want any nasty surprises at the end of your sailing — everything adds up very fast.

Like Elisa explains in the video above, you don’t need a drinks package to have alcohol on board — you can purchase anything a la carte when you feel like having a beer, glass of wine, or cocktail. The same is true for specialty coffees, sodas, and fancy water. Also, regular water, drip coffee, and a huge variety of teas are available to all without any surcharge, with milk, cream, and sweeteners included.
