6 Ways Dua Lipa's Future Nostalgia Tour Proves She's The Pop Star We've Been Waiting For
Nearly two years after Dua Lipa invited the world to dance with her GRAMMY-winning album, 'Future Nostalgia,' she's finally bringing it to stages around the world. But the concert isn’t just a dance party — it's the declaration of a true superstar.
When Dua Lipa won the GRAMMY for Best New Artist in 2019 , she began her speech by acknowledging the "incredible" female artists she was nominated alongside (which included H.E.R. and Bebe Rexha ). "I guess this year we've really stepped up," she said.
In the years since — despite a global pandemic causing some unexpected roadblocks — Lipa has certainly stepped up herself. Releasing her second album, Future Nostalgia , just weeks after the COVID-19 quarantine began in 2020, Lipa helped the locked-down world escape to an alternate club-like universe. And now that she's been able to bring that to life, Dua Lipa's star is shining brighter than ever.
The Future Nostalgia Tour, which kicked off in February and will circle the globe until mid-November, puts Lipa's power on full display. The 26-year-old singer carries herself with tangible confidence throughout the 90-minute show, showcasing the work she has put to become one of the most revered acts of her generation.
With artists like Billie Eilish introducing a darker side of pop and Olivia Rodrigo reinventing punk-inspired pop, the term "pop star" can be tricky to define. But Lipa has taken the traditional pop star tour formula — choreography, costume changes, engineered elements — and made it her own with the Future Nostalgia Tour. Dua Lipa's reign is seemingly just beginning.
Below, take a look at some of the ways Lipa's tour proved her pop prowess.
She's Cross-Generational
From one scan of the crowd, it was apparent that Lipa isn't the kind of female pop star that only young girls idolize. Sure, there were plenty of moms with their sequin-clad daughters, but there were also dads and sons donning Lipa's likeness on their shirts.
It seems Dua Lipa appeals to parents regardless of if their kids are in tow. Groups of women and men of all ages were in attendance, some even donning some bedazzled glasses a la Lipa's "Cold Heart" collaborator, Elton John .

She's As Humble As She Is Badass
Though her stage commentary never really extended beyond "thank you so much for being here," Lipa's expressions of gratitude were nothing but sincere. "Thank you for listening to the music, it means the absolute world to me," she added, "and I'm so honored that I get to be here tonight, sharing this evening with you, and with all these incredible people on the stage as well."
She made sure her touring troupe got the attention they deserved, even using the show's opening to introduce her dancers before herself.
She Makes Simplicity Cool
Okay, "simple" isn't exactly the word to describe Lipa's show. Every detail was clearly thought-out, from the multifaceted staging to the dance breaks during a costume change.
Yet, there was a simplicity to everything. Each production element — whether it was an illusionary set of twinkling lights during "Be The One" or a basket that (appropriately) ascended Lipa over the crowd for "Levitating" — created a spectacle that was more mesmerizing than overwhelming. (In very '90s pop star fashion, Lipa even incorporated a chair-dance routine for "Hallucinate.")
And while most of Lipa's choreography involved hip sways and toe taps, she makes them effortlessly cool. Frankly, she didn't even need to dance — her powerful strut was enough to carry the show.
Her Sex Appeal Isn't Polarizing
As her new single with Megan Thee Stallion , " Sweetest Pie ," suggests, Lipa is a master at sexual innuendos and metaphors. They're sprinkled across Future Nostalgia , but never get too carried away — and that's exactly how she presents them in person.
Even when she was grinding on her dancers or sliding down the mic stand, every move Lipa made was more playful than hypersexualized. And even the most forward song of the entire album, "Good In Bed," featured a metaphorical visual — a bowl of cherries — that brought both an innocence for her younger fans and a fun little tease for the older crowd.
She Obviously Loves What She Does
For a show that is so clearly thought out, it was evident that Lipa enjoys every single second. There was hardly a moment when she wasn’t smiling.
Her star power truly shines when she performs "Future Nostalgia" solo, serving up Prince vibes with mic stand tricks and making heads spin with furious hair flips.
Whether she's backed by dancers or on her own, Lipa not only knows how to run the stage, but loves it. And she’s damn good at it, too.
She’s Created Her Own Universe
Lipa already proved this point in 2020, with her remix album Club Future Nostalgia and her livestream concert, Studio 2054 . Even so, an arena stage brings her nightclub-inspired, futuristic world to another level.
Her dance hits ( Silk City collab "Electricity" and Calvin Harris team-up "One Kiss") turned the place into a rave, complete with a balloon drop. And, of course, there were plenty of space elements, from a moon-shaped backdrop for "Boys Will Be Boys" to stars protruding from the ceiling before the encore.
If there’s one statement the Future Nostalgia Tour makes, it’s that Dua Lipa has paved her own pop star lane — and she’s ready for everyone to join her universe.

Dua Lipa's New Song "Illusion" Is Here: Listen & Watch The Video
Dua Lipa's 'Radical Optimism' era is in full swing — and now, we have a new song, "Illusion," with an aquatic-themed video. Check out the new banger, and its aqueous video, below.
Now that we've absorbed "Houdini" and " Training Season ," it's time for a third scoop of pop goodness from Dua Lipa .
On April 11, the three-time GRAMMY winner released "Illusion," the third single from her hotly anticipated new album, Radical Optimism , due out May 3. The percolating, endlessly catchy track arrived with a video where Lipa dances on a pool deck in Barcelona, with swimmers and surfers joining the party — a playful homage to the shark-infested waters of the album's cover.
Lipa first kicked off her Radical Optimism era in November with "Houdini," which she performed alongside the debut of "Training Season" in a head-spinning show opener at the 2024 GRAMMYs. The album follows her GRAMMY-winning second LP, 2020's Future Nostalgia .
"[Releasing the album] feels good. It feels, for lack of a better word, radically optimistic," Lipa told Billboard in March, when she also explained the inspiration for the shark fin cover art. "Throughout the whole record, there's this idea of chaos happening around and me trying to push through it in a way that feels authentic and honest to me."
Now, adding "Illusion" to the mix, Lipa has made it very clear the only way she knows how to cope with chaos is to dance — and Radical Optimism will continue the party that Future Nostalgia ignited.

Everything We Know About Dua Lipa's New Album 'Radical Optimism'
Dua Lipa could barely contain her excitement when announcing her new album, scheduled for release on May 3. GRAMMY.com rounded up everything there is to know about Dua Lipa’s upcoming era of 'Radical Optimism.'
“Who wants moreeeeeee?” With that teasing caption, Dua Lipa sent her more than 88 million Instagram followers into a flurry of anticipation on March 12 as she seemingly primed for a major announcement with a slideshow of behind-the-scenes snaps.
Just one day later, the three-time GRAMMY winner announced her hotly anticipated third album, Radical Optimism , was officially on its way — complete with a May 3 release date, first look at the cover art, a complete tracklist and more. Lipa couldn’t contain her excitement about the project, punctuating her all-caps caption with a string of more than a dozen exclamation points.

The album announcement arrives on the heels of a celebratory awards season for Lipa, who was nominated for two golden gramophones (including Song Of The Year ) at the 2024 GRAMMYs for “Dance The Night” and opened the telecast with an electrifying medley of her singles “Houdini” and “Training Season.” Additionally, her disco-infused Barbie banger scored a nod for Best Original Song at the 2024 Golden Globes and three separate nominations at last year’s MTV Video Music Awards.
Below, GRAMMY.com rounded up everything there is to know about Dua Lipa’s upcoming era of Radical Optimism .
The Pop Star Is Nearly Upstaged In Her Wet And Wild Cover Art
In her announcement, Lipa shared the cover art for her forthcoming studio set and the result is nothing short of jaw-dropping. Shot by Tyrone Lebon, the image depicts the English Albanian pop star out at sea, her dark hair slicked back as she bobs in the ocean wearing a shiny gold ensemble with matching jewelry against a sun-streaked sky.
However, it’s entirely possible that, upon first glance, the “Dance The Night” singer isn’t the first thing fans will notice when they see the artwork. That’s because she shares the frame with a fearsome co-star: a shark glides past her in the foreground, its fin slicing ominously through the water’s surface.
The Tracklist Announces The “End Of An Era”
Lipa’s fans, whom she notably refers to as “my loves,” may still be obsessed with her GRAMMY-winning sophomore album Future Nostalgia , but the pop star makes it clear on Radical Optimism’s tracklist that she’s ready to turn the page.
According to the album’s watery back cover, the 11-track studio set will kick off with opener “End of an Era” before segueing into previously released singles “Houdini” and “Training Season.” Other as-yet-unheard songs on the LP include titles like “French Exit,” “Illusion,” “Falling Forever” and closing number “Happy For You.” And unless Lipa still has a few surprises up her sleeve ahead of the album’s unveiling, it appears that, for the first time in her career, there won’t be a single collaboration or guest artist featured on the tracklist.
She Thinks Radical Optimism Is “Exactly What We Need in the World”
Just one hour after dropping the cover art and tracklist, Lipa followed the reveal up with a video explaining the important meaning behind the album’s boldly cheery title. “I [can’t] wait for this to be yours,” she promised in the caption, adding a tidal wave emoji to punctuate her point.
“You know what the world needs is, like, the idea of being endlessly happy,” the singer says in the clip. It’s like an overpowering feeling, I want it.” Later, she hints at the emotional throughline that threads through her upcoming body of work, revealing, “Every song does have that kind of, like, ‘through the struggle you kind of make it something optimistic’...Radical optimism, that’s exactly what we need in the world.”
The Singer’s 2021 GRAMMYs Acceptance Speech Inadvertently Sparked the Album’s Ethos
As it turns out, the emotional concept behind Radical Optimism was actually born during Lipa’s acceptance speech at the 2021 GRAMMYs, where she took home the trophy for Best Pop Vocal Album for Future Nostalgia .
“My last GRAMMY speech, I said something just in the midst of panic,” the pop sensation says in the aforementioned video, which flashes to her grinning on the stage outside Staples Center in L.A, clutching her third golden gramophone. “One thing I’ve come to realize is how much happiness is so important,” she said at the time.
“I felt really jaded at the end of my last album [2017’s Dua Lipa ] where I felt like I only had to make sad music to feel like it mattered," she continued. "And I’m just so grateful and so honored because happiness is something that we all deserve, and that’s something that we all need in our lives.”
Three years later, Lipa is channeling that mindset into her new music in such a bold way that she felt Radical Optimism had to be the album’s title.
She’s Assembled A Solid Group Of Collaborators
The singer’s latest Instagram post also gave fans a peek at some of Lipa’s most trusted collaborators on Radical Optimism . “Tobias Jesso Jr. Kevin Parker. Caroline Ailin. We have Daniel L Harle,” the GRAMMY winner notes, whirling the camera around to introduce each of her producers and fellow lyricists by name before gleefully exclaiming, “We’re makin’ an album!”
Gesso Jr, Parker, Ailin and Harle are all listed alongside Lipa in the credits of lead single “Houdini” as well as follow-up “Training Season,” so it’s a safe bet that fans will likely see their names throughout the credits when they hear Radical Optimism in full.

Listen: Dua Lipa Drops New Single "Training Season" From Her Upcoming New Album
The song — which Dua Lipa premiered, along with the head-spinning "Houdini," at the 2024 GRAMMYs — will be featured on her forthcoming third studio album. Hear the swirling track and watch its entrancing video here.
Dua Lipa has evaded expectations like "Houdini"; now, she's declaring that "Training Season" is over. The three-time GRAMMY winner and 10-time GRAMMY nominee has released a percolating, questioning new single, "Training Season," the second track from her yet-to-be-announced third album , due out this year. The song’s video opens with Dua Lipa alone and disheartened in a crowded cafe, surrounded by men, but unimpressed by her options.
As the video unfolds, a crowd of hopeful admirers presses against the glass and swirls around her, vying for her attention. She looks on, unimpressed by the multitude of options before her, signaling that the time for "training" has passed. "Training season's over," she declares, underscoring her readiness for something more genuine. "Are you someone that I can give my heart to?” Lipa sings over an effervescent beat. "Or just the poison that I'm drawn to?" Because, in the end, she "Need someone to hold me close / Deeper than I’ve ever known / Whose love feels like a rodeo / Knows just how to take control / When I’m vulnerable."
The song’s release follows her stunning performance at the 2024 GRAMMYs where she opened the show with a mesmerizing medley in which she official debuted “Training Season” and also performed “Houdini.”
Lipa was nominated for Best Song Written For Visual Media and Song Of The Year for her Barbie the Album hit, "Dance the Night," at the 2024 GRAMMYs. Though Billie Eilish took home the golden gramophones in both categories — for another Barbie song, “What Was I Made For?” — Lipa has three GRAMMYs to her name, including 2019’s Best New Artist honor .

9 Ways Women Dominated The 2024 GRAMMYs
To kick off the 66th GRAMMY Awards, Dua Lipa performed a medley of the first two singles from her upcoming third studio album.
Dua Lipa got the party started at the 2024 GRAMMYs with an electric medley of "Training Season" and "Houdini."
Emerging from a steel cage surrounded by a bevy of muscled male dancers, Lipa declared, "Training season's over" with the live debut of her new single before pivoting into "Houdini" complete with full choreography.
"I come and I go/ Tell me all the ways you need me/ I'm not here for long/ Catch me or I go Houdini," the pop star sang as she writhed with her dancers and nailed the end of the performance by sliding onto her knees.
"Houdini" and "Training Season" are the first two singles off the British-Albanian superstar's forthcoming follow-up to her GRAMMY-winning 2020 LP Future Nostalgia . The GRAMMYs served as a sneak peek of "Training Season," as the track officially arrives Feb. 15.
Meanwhile, "Dance the Night" — Lipa's sparkling dance floor banger from Barbie , which brought all the Barbies and Kens together in the film for a giant party at Barbie's Dream House — and is nominated for two awards at this year's ceremony: Song Of The Year and Best Song Written for Visual Media.
In fact, numerous songs from Barbie the Album packed the latter Category, with Ice Spice and Nicki Minaj's "Barbie World" featuring Aqua, Ryan Gosling's "I'm Just Ken" and Billie Eilish's "What Was I Made For?" also in the running alongside Rihanna's soulful Black Panther: Wakanda Forever ballad "Lift Me Up." Ultimately, Eilish's dreamy, introspective ballad took home the trophy ahead of the telecast.

Named after her career-solidifying second album, Dua Lipa ‘s global 2022 trek is titled The Future Nostalgia Tour — but the truth is, what makes the onstage spectacle such an endorphin rush has nothing to do with the shape of things to come. Dua may not be a soothsayer capable of peering into the future of music, but she sure as hell knows how to take the best elements of dance and pop’s past and edit them into a cohesive, exhilarating experience. Taking all the right notes from Madonna’s record-breaking global tours of the 21st century (hello, roller skaters circling the stage), tossing in some Katy Perry kitsch (we see you, gigantic inflatable lobster vibing to the beat) and tossing in some house-y remixes of her material that give off Daft Punk vibes (what’s up, robot voices), the Future Nostalgia Tour is exactly the kind of return-to-the-real-world concert pop fans have been thirsting for.

After a stellar opening from Caroline Polachek, who confidently demonstrated she can hold the attention of a jam-packed Madison Square Garden, Tuesday (March 1) night’s New York City concert kicked off with Dua Lipa and her backup dancers stationed behind LED ballet bars on a calisthenic run-through of “Physical” in neon-hued body suits. “A lot of collective childhood dreams are coming true on this stage,” Lipa said at one point during the show, and her dancers certainly didn’t hold a damn thing back, providing flawless choreography with an easy-going swagger that made it all look easy.
Trending on Billboard
Dua herself delivered high kicks, strong vocals and warm smiles for the crowd, which, according to her, included faces she’s been seeing at her shows since her shows at NYC’s 250-capacity venue Mercury Lounge in 2016. The fact that she’s now headlining MSG in an era where most pop singers struggle to land a second hit after a breakout moment is a testament to her rock-solid catalog, which includes so many recognizable radio bops you can’t help but be surprised that Future Nostalgia is just her second album. The setlist included everything you’d want and expect out of a Dua Lipa show, from the Hot 100 No. 2 smash “Levitating” (fittingly delivered while floating above the crowd) to her top 10 Elton John collab “Cold Heart” (the pre-filmed appearance from Sir Elton onscreen elicited a huge roar from the crowd) to an arena-wide sing-along on early career fan fave “Be the One.”
Save for costume changes when Lipa left the stage, there was really no down time where fans collectively wandered off; everyone in attendance seemed as invested in smashes like “Don’t Start Now” as they were in album tracks such as “Good In Bed.” With the biggest hit of 2021 under her belt and a rapturously cathartic tour ahead of her this year, Dua Lipa’s future looks electric.

Dua Lipa’s Long-Awaited Future Nostalgia Tour Lives Up To The Hype In Every Possible Way
After two years, Dua Lipa is more than ready to own the stadium tour she’s been waiting to embark on. Just days before her 2020 album, Future Nostalgia , was slated to be released, the Covid-19 pandemic impacted not only the album’s release (she moved it up a week early), but the massive set of live shows that was set to catapult her to global stardom. No matter. As the shutdown stretched through 2020, and most of 2021 as well, Dua and her camp did what all great artists did during that time: She pivoted. First, giving fans even more to dance about by releasing the Club Future Nostalgia remix versions of her original songs , often with superstar collaborators in tow, and then followed that up with the Moonlight edition , which also featured a few new songs.
Of course, even with all the new music and different versions coming out, lots of listeners were happy to just keep returning to the hits, part of what made “Levitating” a historically popular song — it just hit the mark for the longest-charting song by a woman on the Hot 100 . That’s quite a feat for a pop star who has only been around for less than a decade. All this to say, by the time fans got to their seats for one of two nights that Dua Lipa and her stacked openers would be performing at The Forum in Los Angeles this week, the anticipation was palpable. And, perhaps one of the few great side effects of the delay was, Dua had never been more polished and ready.
Kicking off the setlist with an ensemble number for the second Future Nostalgia single “Physical,” she made it clear that disco, neon, roller skaters, and lots of glitter were all going to be on hand for the next 90 minutes, making this tour into the stadium spectacle fans had been craving. Flanked for most songs by a series of extremely talented backup dancers, Dua hit every move of the choreography with the kind of practiced precision that only someone who is proving dectrators wrong can muster. Though she’s been derided in the past for not backing up her danceable hits with moves of her own, it’s clear that Dua 2.0 is a dancing machine. While this means she sometimes looks a little stiff while going through the motions, the bevy of dancers around her, and those incredibly strong, pitch-perfect vocals make this set one of the most enjoyable pop tours of 2022 so far.
Immediately getting into her debut hit single, “New Rules” as the second song in the setlist, Dua mostly stuck to Future Nostalgia favorites like “Love Again,” “Cool,” “Pretty Please” and “Break My Heart,” before closing out the first half of the show with “Be The One,” one of the earliest singles from her self-titled debut. Turning that shimmering, hopeful tune into a sing-along with the crowd, and letting her backup vocalists take over the refrain, Dua disappeared for the first of what would end up being many costume changes. Her lacy, lime green jumpsuit with long-sleeved gloves has since become a staple in social media clips and videos, but later looks like a silver bodysuit, or her final black sequined jumpsuit with suggestive cutouts and a catwoman feel were just as stunning. Because, after a few years of sweats and at-home looks, this kind of high-fashion glamor is part of what fans want to see during a massive pop show.
Her second full set was all Future Nostalgia songs, including the Moonlight edition standout, “We’re Good,” along with “Good In Bed,” “Fever,” and “Boys Will Be Boys.” Then, she incorporated some of her best collaborations into the show, the slightly clubbier “One Kiss,” her song with Calvin Harris, and the Silk City (Mark Ronson and Diplo) track “Electricity,” before heading into the final stretch with “Hallucinate” and “Cold Heart,” the Elton John cover/remix that’s been heating up on the charts itself, and is currently sitting at No. 13. Considering her new collab with Megan Thee Stallion, “Sweetest Pie” debuted at No. 15, and “Levitating” is still hanging out at No. 19, Dua’s current chart domination is definitely part of what makes this tour feel so exciting and relevant.
Speaking of “Levitating,” of course it had to be the show’s formal closer, as Dua took to the skies in a floating cage, still dancing and belting out lyrics while she moved through the air and gave attention to different sections of the nosebleeds. Coming back one last time after that to encore with “Future Nostalgia,” which seemed like it would’ve worked better earlier in the show, the last song of the night was “Don’t Start Now,” a supercharged, extended take on the lead single that kicked off this entire album cycle. And even though this single, in particular, came out all the way back in October of 2019, it sounded just as fresh as it did three years ago. Or maybe that’s just the future nostalgia at work. Dua Lipa Brings Her Lockdown Anthems to the Arena
The pop star’s second album, “Future Nostalgia,” is ambitious and impressive. Onstage, the production didn’t match the LP’s ecstasy.
By Jon Caramanica
Many of the best Dua Lipa songs start with an easily absorbable concept — “Physical,” “Levitating,” “Cool” — and emanate outward from there. Her music is fleet, stomping and appealingly icy: industrial-grade club-pop that’s mindful of history while flaunting the latest in polish and panache.
The songs are very tightly wound, though. Lipa is a lightly regal singer who often sounds removed from the hiss and purr of her production, as if she’s performing to the track and not with it. Great dance-floor-oriented music often connotes abandon, but Lipa exudes control. She’s a pop superstar, but not quite a full pop personality.
Maybe that’s why on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden, she, like the other 20,000 or so people in attendance, came to sing along to Dua Lipa songs.
That is, naturally, what many have been doing for the past few years, especially the two since the release of Lipa’s “Future Nostalgia, ” one of the first excellent albums of the Covid era. It was, for a little while, the soundtrack of our collective hallucination about the possibilities that had been wrested away by social isolation, a set of clinically ecstatic, pointedly unbendable anthems designed for megaclubs that wouldn’t reopen for months or more.
In many ways, Lipa, 26, is a pop superstar for diminished times. From Madonna to Katy Perry to Lady Gaga to Rihanna to Billie Eilish, the most successful figures in the last few decades of pop music built worlds. They are philosophers of the body and aesthetics as much as sound.
Lipa’s music doesn’t ask questions, though, or suggest alternate interpretations. It is — especially on songs like the buoyant “New Rules” and “Electricity” (made with Mark Ronson and Diplo, working under the Chicago house music-evoking name Silk City) — perhaps overly studious, though in the best way. At times, Lipa sounds like she’s doing devoted analysis of the club-pop of the early 1990s, not a nostalgist so much as a historical re-enactor.
But Lipa’s ambition isn’t academic-scaled, it’s domination-focused. And that requires something more than pinpoint recreations. This performance, part of her Future Nostalgia Tour, had the thrill of listening to Lipa songs on the radio — a wonderful way to lose yourself when you have to keep your eyes on the road.
Given the sheer popularity of Lipa’s music, the show was modest, a concept-less, box-checking production that severely underplayed Lipa’s stadium-size goals. A meager arrangement of balloons dropped from the rafters during “One Kiss.” Lipa and her dancers oozed through a pro forma umbrella routine during “New Rules.” Later, a handful of orbs and stars limply dangled from the ceiling. During “We’re Good,” Lipa sat on the stage singing, while nearby, an inflatable lobster hovered … menacingly? Not quite that. More woozily. (The accompanying animation on the big screen at the back of the stage recalled Perry’s cheekiness, which is not generally part of Lipa’s arsenal.)
Throughout the night, Lipa was flanked by up to 10 dancers and two roller skaters. She is a labored dancer, choosing choreography that emphasizes small, tart movements while telegraphing big sentiment: a power stomp out to the end of the runway on “New Rules,” an extreme dose of hair whipping on “Future Nostalgia.” But rarely did the theater of the presentation match the drama of the songs themselves.
As for the songs, the arrangements were faithful and emphatic — they filled the space that the happenings onstage did not. Lipa never sang more forcefully than the arsenal of backup singers and prerecorded vocals that were bolstering her. On her albums, she sings with an occasional growl, but whenever those moments arose here, she appeared to pull back from the rigor. (Lipa’s dancers were given an elaborate video introduction at the beginning of the show. At the end of the night, she introduced her band members by name, but — pointedly? — not her backup singers.)
It was not unpleasant — “Break My Heart” was cheerful, “Don’t Start Now” was punchy, “Cool” was ethereal. But these were closed loops, reinforcement of feelings already experienced more than jumping-off points for growth. All in all, inhibition outweighed risk — a perfect recreation of a time when we were all inside, wondering if we’d ever be set free.

Dua Lipa Sets ‘Future Nostalgia’ Tour With Megan Thee Stallion
By Brittany Spanos

Dua Lipa will head out on her highly anticipated headlining tour next year. Lipa’s sophomore album Future Nostalgia was released in March 2020 and became one of the year’s biggest releases.
The tour will span 28 dates across the US and Canada, including Lipa’s first headlining show at Madison Square Garden. She’ll be joined by what she called “the ultimate girl gang”: Megan Thee Stallion, Caroline Polachek and Lolo Zouaī have all been tapped as special guests for the trek. The tour will kick off on February 9th in Miami and wrap on April 1st in Vancouver, marking over two years since the album was released. Lipa’s previously postponed dates across Europe are still due to kick off on April 15th.
The disco-tinged LP dominated the first pandemic year, even without the Grammy winner getting to tour in support of it. Singles “Don’t Start Now,” “Levitating” and “Physical” have been major hits. She has since released both an expanded edition of the album as well as a remixed version of the project, in collaboration with DJ and producer The Blessed Madonna called Club Future Nostalgia. At the height of virtual concerts, Lipa hosted the Studio 2054 livestream, featuring special guests Miley Cyrus, Elton John, Kylie Minogue and many more.

Why Dua Lipa's 'Future Nostalgia' is the dance-pop tour we all need in 2022
- Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below
Dua Lipa welcomed fans to Footprint Center on Sunday with an '80s-flavored video that introduced the members of her dance team “in stereocolor.”
Then, the singer made her entrance from below the stage in a greenish-yellow bodysuit with matching gloves to join her dancers and backing musicians in setting the tone for the “Future Nostalgia” tour stop with the effervescent disco pulse of “Physical.”
“Keep on dancing," she sang, "like you ain’t got a choice."
She was flanked by 10 dancers in fluorescent blue framed by a half-circle backdrop that cycled its way through an array of Day-Glo hues.
'End of an era': How an art bar that holds 50 people came to mean so much to Phoenix
Dua Lipa delivered on promise of 'Future Nostalgia'
It was the perfect introduction to a concert that delivered on the promise of “Future Nostalgia” with color, conviction and style while putting the focus squarely on the Grammy-winning calling card that elevated Lipa to the role of headlining arenas.
The British singer did revisit two songs from her only other album, a self-titled effort from 2017 — "Be the One" and her five-times-platinum U.S. breakthrough "New Rules," which immediately followed "Physical" and featured dancers with umbrellas.
By the time she brought the encore to a close with “Don’t Start Now,” the star had made her way through all 11 songs (and two more from the subsequent deluxe edition) of her second album, fleshing out the set with singles.
Highlights ranged from White Town-sampling "Love Again” to the gritty funk of "Break My Heart" and the encore-launching title track on which the rising superstar announces her intentions with "You want a timeless song/ I want to change the game."
As mission statements go, that line is hard to top. And it sums up the essence of "Future Nostalgia," a much-streamed dance-pop masterstroke that effortlessly channels the euphoria of classic disco grooves but also feels completely rooted in the here and now.
It’s an album clearly meant to be enjoyed on crowded dance floors that, as fate would have it, hit the streets in March 2020 as the world was shutting down in response to the pandemic.

Dua Lipa brought Phoenix together as one city under a groove
That only seemed to underscore the life-affirming nature of finally seeing these songs brought to life in an arena packed with other human beings all coming together as one city under a groove when the long-delayed "Future Nostalgia" tour hit Phoenix.
And Lipa gamely did her best to reinforce that feeling with the sort of dance-pop spectacle Madonna taught us to expect when she was retrofitting disco for her own needs in the ‘80s.
Elton John dropped by on video to join her in revisiting their duet on "Cold Heart," a song that incorporated the chorus hook of "Rocket Man." Belgian singer Angèle also appeared through the magic of video to re-create her part on Lipa's "Fever."
Megan Thee Stallion returned to the stage, earning shrieks of approval, to join Lipa on an entertaining version of their current single, "Sweetest Pie."

Lobsters, flamingos and catwalks
Much of the visual stimulation played out on the screen behind the live performance, from a video of Lipa cruising past neon flamingos and signs that said "Welcome to Phoenix" to the animated pop art that pictured a comic-book version of Lipa surviving a lobster attack.
Yes, a lobster attack.
And that theme carried over to the resplendent pop smarts of "We're Good," for which Lipa returned from her first of several costume changes in glittering silver to perform the song seated in front of a giant inflatable lobster.
Dua Lipa was FABULOUS. And, yes, there was a giant lobster 🤷🏻♀️ pic.twitter.com/qXuGyHh5Sr — That Girl (@funnythat) March 21, 2022
After enjoying a night at the club with her dancers on the diamond-shaped satellite stage at the end of a catwalk that led from the diamond-shaped main stage, Lipa eventually boarded a platform that hung from the ceiling to float above the crowd for "Levitating."
That moment should've been impossible to top, bringing the dance party to its inevitable climax.
But the singer came back strong with a crowd-pleasing version of "Future Nostalgia" before bringing her high-energy performance to a rousing finish with a shower of confetti during "Don't Start Now."
By that point, the fans had already enjoyed a balloon drop during "One Kiss."
Lipa commanded the stage like a natural headliner
The entire performance was brilliantly choreographed, and Lipa’s dancers clearly earned all that love at the top of the concert. Two dancers managed to breakdance in roller skates.
Although they didn't rate a mention in the introductory video, Lipa's backing musicians and four backing vocalists did an excellent job of bringing the funkier moments of "Future Nostalgia" to life in a massive sports arena.
And Lipa commanded the stage and arena throughout with the presence of a natural headliner who only wants to change the game.
Speaking of natural headliners, Megan Thee Stallion's performance was met with the sort of reaction that left you wondering why she isn't headlining her own arena tour.
From the time she hit the stage with "Realer" through the one-two punch of "WAP" and the chart-topping "Savage," she had the crowd shouting along to her lyrics while wildly cheering her most provocative dance moves.
"(Expletive) these men trying to tell us what we can do with our bodies," she said, in the midst of a heartfelt speech about how much she appreciate her fans — or "real hot girls," as she frequently called them.

Dua Lipa Kicks Off Her Sparkling Future Nostalgia Tour in Miami: Recap, Photos + Setlist
The singer finally embarked on a tour that was two years in the making -- and it was worth the wait
At Dua Lipa ’s tour kickoff in Miami on Wednesday night (February 9th), the artist put on a heart-pumping show that her fans are sure to be nostalgic about in the days to come.
Lipa’s show, dubbed “Future Nostalgia,” is of course based around her best-selling pop album of the same name . After years of pandemic-related delays, the British singer was finally able to bring the LP to life, playing to a sold-out crowd at FTX Arena in downtown Miami. For around 90 minutes, Lipa and her dancers delivered an energetic, dancing experience that allowed her fans to travel to a different, happier world, even if just for a little while.
As the arena turned dark, signaling the start of the show, an intro video played, introducing all of Lipa’s backup dancers before the woman of the hour strutted out on stage in a lime green jumpsuit for “Physical,” before a seamless transition into her breakout single “New Rules.” Lipa and her purple-clad dancers showed off moves reminiscent of the chart-topping music video, and the crowd eagerly counted each relationship rule with her.

Lipa has paid careful attention to her visual production, too. The next few songs followed her around the stage with dancers echoing an ‘80s style workout on lit-up roller skates, umbrellas opening and closing, flashy diamond hearts, and a cube made of twinkling lights that hovered above the arena.

Dua lipa – future nostalgia.
Luke Halls Studio designed and produced the visuals for Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia tour. Through video we helped visualise Dua’s alternate celebration of the past and future in a frenzy of pop glory, celebrating colour and fun in this retro-futuristic blockbuster of a show. The stage, designed by Es Devlin Studio, is a huge ‘bowl’ where, with video, Dua makes cakes, a giant lobster lurks and turns into a disco ball.

Dua Lipa Shines as Golden Seductress in First Trailer for Spy Thriller Argylle
The action flick, which also stars actor Henry Cavill, marks the singer's first major acting role
Dua Lipa is swapping the stage for the screen for her latest project.
In the trailer for Apple Original spy thriller Argylle released on Thursday, the singer can be seen starring alongside Man of Steel actor Henry Cavill .
Dressed in a glittering gold dress and blonde wig, Lipa approaches Cavill, who plays the titular “world's greatest spy,” and seductively tells him, “I certainly hope you can dance as well as you dress.”
"There’s only one way to find out,” teases Cavill, before taking Lipa’s hand and leading her to the middle of a dancefloor.
The action flick, which also stars Bryce Dallas Howard , marks the pop star's first major acting role following her screen debut as Mermaid Barbie in hit film, Barbie .
Universal Pictures/YouTube
While the "New Rules" singer's character in the film is yet to be confirmed, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that she will also provide original music for the title track and score.
Additionally, it appears that Lipa will share the screen with Cavill in fantasy sequences based on a best-selling series of espionage novels written by Howard's character, the cat-loving author Elly Conway.
According to Universal Pictures , which is a co-distributor of the thriller alongside Apple Original Films, things in the author's world turn upside down "when the plots of Elly’s fictional books — which center on secret agent Argylle and his mission to unravel a global spy syndicate — begin to mirror the covert actions of a real-life spy organization."
Soon, she finds herself accompanied by a real-life spy played by Sam Rockwell as the two race "across the world to stay one step ahead of the killers as the line between Elly’s fictional world and her real one begins to blur," the synopsis continues.
Directed by Matthew Vaughn, Argylle also stars Ariana DeBose , Bryan Cranston , Samuel L. Jackson , Catherine O’Hara and John Cena .
When the project was first announced, Vaughn compared it to the James Bond franchise. “When I read this early draft manuscript I felt it was the most incredible and original spy franchise since Ian Fleming’s books of the 50s. This is going to reinvent the spy genre,” he said in a statement via Deadline .
According to the outlet, Argylle will be the first in at least a three-part movie franchise set across the world.
That said, the trilogy's first entry is a fitting project for the director, whose resumé includes iconic action movies, the Kingsman franchise, Kick-Ass and X-Men: First Class . The film also fits nicely in Cavill’s wheelhouse, given the British actor’s extensive experience in the spy genre with The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and the Mission: Impossible franchise.

London native Dua Lipa’s rise to fame all began on YouTube. Before she was a chart-topping pop phenom, the Albanian-descended singer worked hard to polish her signature vocal sound.
Lipa covered a variety of tracks, from “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys to “Beautiful” by Christina Aguilera. At 15 years old, her natural talent grabbed the attention of modeling agencies, securing her a spot in entertainment.
Throughout 2013, Lipa endured a strenuous modeling career and decided to change directions. Eventually, she signed a record deal with Warner Bros. and kickstarted her music career. Her first single, “New Love,” showed off her raspy voice while staying true to the sounds of smooth pop. However, Lipa’s next release, “Be the One,” delivered an even more relatable energy. Its dance-pop elements helped the track explode in several countries, including Australia and New Zealand.
Dua Lipa’s single “Hotter Than Hell” met additional success. After the single landed on the UK charts, Lipa became an artist to look out for. It was no surprise the subsequent release of “Blow Your Mind (Mwah)” debuted on the US Billboard Hot 100. The dance-inspired track set the tone for the artist’s growing discography. As her fanbase grew, Lipa took control of her popstar persona. She secured collabs on Sean Paul’s “No Lie” and Martin Garrix’s “Scared to Be Lonely,” furthering her status in UK’s music scene in 2016.
Lipa’s popularity soared when her self-titled debut finally arrived in 2017. Her sixth single, “New Rules,” was a certified record-breaker. After taking the no. 1 spot in the UK, the song made a massive impact in numerous countries, including the US. Thanks to “New Rules,” Lipa obtained five Brit nominations. She won two, including British Breakthrough Act and British Female Solo Act, elevating her status as a soon-to-be popstar. From 2017 to 2018, Lipa took the concert world by storm and headlined her first tour for her self-titled debut.
More collaborations alongside in-demand artists proved Lipa’s growing fame. “One Kiss” with Calvin Harris eased its way onto British radio waves in 2018, delivering a staple dance club sound. Ultimately, the success of “Electricity” with Mark Ronson and Diplo (aka Silk City) allowed Lipa’s career to take a significant turn. Her signature voice paired well with the record producer duo’s electronic elements. Lipa’s musical versatility shined and laid the groundwork for her highly-anticipated sophomore album, Future Nostalgia.
“Don’t Start Now” was a sneak peek into the musician’s fresh persona. Drawing inspiration from old-school disco and nightclub synth-wave, the single became an undeniable smash. Lipa continued to leave her mark on the charts with the follow-up “Physical.” It was the perfect segue into her Future Nostalgia era.
The singer’s second full-length record left a lasting impression during an unpredictable year. Thanks to numerous top 10 tracks, Future Nostalgia became one of the most streamed albums by a female artist on Spotify in 2020. Her modern take on ’80s disco garnered many new listeners and a well-deserved Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album. It was a testament to Lipa’s strength as an ever-changing popstar. She aimed even higher by collaborating with other famous musicians like BLACKPINK, Megan Thee Stallion, and Miley Cyrus.
Nearly four years later, the artist’s “Future Nostalgia Tour” launched her success to the next level. Despite postponed and canceled 2020 dates, Lipa wanted the show to go on. She took center stage with choreographed sequences and dream-worthy dance beats. Fans from all over the world, including the US, Latin America, and Europe, witnessed the pop singer up close and personal. Lipa charted new territory with one of the most anticipated tours in 2022 and opened the way for more critical acclaim.
Live reviews
This was a great concert! Dua Lipa is a great performer with a really strong stage presence. Really loved her voice.
Although she did interact with the audience, I felt that she did so less than other artists I've seen (stuff like explaining her songs a bit more, storytelling related to the city/audience). It didn't really affect how electric she was on stage though.
The concert opened with Ro Ransom, who performed about 5 songs. Her set felt short, but it was still 13 songs, but obviously she doesn't have that much released material out yet compared to other artists.
Her hits like Hotter Than Hell, Be The One, and Blow Your Mind (Mwah) were the most exciting, but I was really looking forward to Genesis and she did not disappoint there. Scared to Be Lonely was also great. I also love No Lies, but I wish she would've done her own spin on Sean Paul's parts too.
Overall it was a great time! Definitely see her if you like her music!

Cologne 10/22/2016 with Dua Lipa!
Perfect show with great performance by the band and Dua Lipa! She sings live without background singers and has an amazing voice! Including her actions with and reactions to the audience by giving some fans the chance to join a song with her and the band together on stage, just to have fun and celebrate the moment with her music was great! Her perfect look and the good acoustics makes it a real experience and a perfect event to be there!
I'd join her concerts again anytime and anywhere, if I'll have time for sure! Hope she will come to Düsseldorf too! I'm waiting for her CD to buy it in real and hope she'll release her album soon! Hugs and Kisses from an fan from Germany! Thanks for the great evening and hope to see Dua Lipa again! Yours sincerely Stefan Meier ;) ***XOXOXO***XXX*** ;)
Absolutely the best concert I was ever at, honestly I don't think any other artist could top this. She had such an incredible presence on stage, every eye was on her and her wonderful team. Dua and her dancers moved gracefully and fluidly, with bursts of power and energy. Her vocals were insanely beautiful, every word was sung with such passion and love. Her grand finale of IDGAF and New Rules was simply amazing, with breathtaking choreography and stunning visuals behind her. The band sounded great and the backup vocalists and dancers were on point for every minute. Without a doubt in my mind it was the very best live performance I have ever seen, and I don't think anything in the future will ever compare to it.
Dua Lipa, Olympia Theatre, Dublin. Monday 9th April 2018.
SHE IS AMAZING!! I can't even begin to explain, I can go on for days. She connected very well with every single person in the audience! I don't know how she does it but we each left feeling as if we each had our own experience with her. I LOVE every single one of her songs and HER in general! So much love was sent to her from the audience and we were all brought together by that. She is so very humble and sweet to every person even though at times we were difficult because we wouldn't leave when stage crew told us to because we wanted to spend more time with her. I got a picture with her and that just wrapped the night of an already perfect day at the concert!! I hope to see her again in concert, I'll be one of the first in line. I LOVE DUA!!!!
Oh, wow. Dua Lipa was absolutely fantastic! She is extraordinarily talented and really knows how to work a crowd. The band was brilliant — and I can say it was definitely loud enough!
I was very lucky to see her at a venue such as the Apollo. Such a small venue for somebody doing an arena tour! We got the tickets very early on, before she became massive, and I’m very glad we did.
The whole way home I was smiling. The last song — New Rules — set the place on fire, that last chorus was insanely good, and all complete with confetti canons!
Thank you for the time, Dua Lipa! Money well-spent; it was worth every second!
This concert will stay in my mind for as long as I live, thank you!
I hope she reads this. SO lemme spill the tea. It was freaking amazing. I was so close I could see ever pore on her, and lemme tell you there isn’t many. She’s so amazing and I felt the show ran pretty smoothly except for the fact that it was very hot and everyone around you was sweating their ass off. But she was great. Best night of my life seeing the love of my life. She was so good and it was so beautiful if she ever were to return I would be there in a heart beat. Though the initial show was cancelled I wasn’t one bit mad after attending this one and it was really nice that my old tickets still were valid. Thanks dua, love you lots. -your biggest fan:)
It was the most lit concert i had ever attended. Dua was so full of life & super hyped for the whole concert. Im still upset that yesterday had come to an end way too soon. The most memorable memory i had was the moment she teared uo in her speech for 'New Love' as that song was way too genuine and its from the most vulnerable side of hers. The next memorable moment was the participation in 'IDGAF'the crowd was so wild, and Dua also had a moment with us when she remixed the sentence 'I dont give a F' like amazing man this is the most mesmerising concert i had ever attended. I love you Dua. (heartsheartshearts)
She truly was the most amazing beautiful person I have ever seen. Her voice was a bit tired, as she said, but she still did sound like an actual angel ! She has amazing stage confidence and her moves were gorgeous. I didn't think it was possible to fall in love all over again with Dua. I was also supposed to be balcony but I paid some extra $40 and got barricade ! I was so excited and emotional because Hello I Get To See THE Dua Lipa Up Close. She also stared at me :') An actual angel ! Definitely spend those coins on this talented gal. Dua also looks even more gorgeous in person I cried.
One of the best and enjoyable concerts I’ve ever been to. I’m in stalls standing and very close to the stage. I enjoyed more in a smaller venue in Brixton O2 Academy than O2 at Greenwich Peninsula. The crowds are behaving very well therefore, no pushing or fighting from behind.
Dua Lipa is amazing, she sang really well and performed really good. Love her music songs. She speaks out really well to the fans; she does care for her fans.
The stage screen, sound system and lightings are awesome.
I especially enjoyed the last 2 songs. Awesome, awesome, awesome.
Stay Awesome!!

Dua Lipa Kicks Off Her Tour in Custom Balenciaga and Mugler Catsuits
We've missed the pop star's stage looks.
Dua Lipa started her Future Nostalgia tour in style.
The pop star began her highly-anticipated world tour at FTX Arena in Miami this week after almost two years of delays. With the help of her stylist Lorenzo Posocco, Lipa put her own spin on some eye-catching catsuits, custom-made by major designers.
The Grammy winner also collaborated with Mugler, one of her favorite houses for performance looks, on a couture paneled catsuit, decorated with 120,000 crystals , with matching black gloves. Both Lipa and the house's creative director Casey Cadwallader shared clips of the star shining on stage in the glittering look.
"It’s the Mugler baby, it does things to me 🖤," Lipa wrote in her caption.
Lipa also took some time to enjoy the Miami heat during a beach trip . For the outing, she wore a yellow-and-orange checkered crochet bikini, a yellow crocheted wrap, a gold belly chain, and black wedge flip-flops by Coperni. She also carried a Chihiro small hammock bag from the Loewe x Spirited Away capsule collection .
After her successful opening night, Lipa will be touring in the U.S. until April, when she sets off for the international leg of her tour. She'll also be joined by confirmed opening acts Lolo Zouaï, Caroline Polachek, and Megan thee Stallion .

Dua Lipa has a packed schedule this year
A statement about the album said, “Inspired by Dua’s self-discovery, ‘Radical Optimism’ is an album that taps into the pure joy and happiness of having clarity in situations that once seemed impossible to face. The hard goodbyes and vulnerable beginnings that previously threatened to crush your soul become milestones as you choose optimism and move gracefully through the chaos.”
According to reports, the album was also influenced by the rawness, honesty, confidence, and independence of ’90s Britpop, as well as the energy of Dua Lipa’s hometown of London. Writing 97 tracks for her third album, Lipa recently disclosed. She described the record as “psychedelic pop-infused,” claiming influences from Gorillaz, Massive Attack, Oasis, Blur, Moby, and Primal Scream. In the follow-up to 2020’s Future Nostalgia, she said she tried to “capture the essence of youth and freedom and having fun.” Lipa began her performance at the BRIT awards earlier this month with a rendition of Training Season, which is set to be part of Radical Optimism. In the evening, the performer won an award for best “Pop Act.”
In other news, Lipa was revealed as one of this year’s Glastonbury festival’s three headliners, along with Coldplay and SZA. Her performance at the Rick Werchter Festival alongside artists such as Lenny Kravitz, Foo Fighters, and Sum 41 will follow these events. After the Wretcher performance, The singer will perform at the Mad Cool festival in a lineup featuring The Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam.
The official tour dates are as follows:
- May 5: Berlin, Germany – Waldbühne
- May 9: Pula, Croatia – Arena Pula
- May 12: Nimes, France – Arènes de Nîmes
