Setting a minimum quantity will require a certain amount of participants in order to book the price

Maximum Quantity

Invoices are able to be saved as editable drafts before requesting payment from buyers. Sent invoices can also be updated prior to payment.

Camping season approaches in N.W.T., with reservation system opening Tuesday

Mark you calendars, N.W.T. campers.

You can start booking your favourite sites this week, as the camping reservation system opens Tuesday at 9 a.m. MT. Most territorial campgrounds will open sometime between May 15 and June 1.

Campers will notice some changes this season, as NWT Parks launched a new online booking system for campsite reservations, along with a brand new campground in the North Slave, near Behchokǫ.

"You are right on the North Arm, right on the Great Slave Lake, so obviously the view is going to be spectacular and you get that quiet, pristine area," said Stephanie McCabe, about the new campground at North Arm Territorial Park. McCabe is the director of tourism and parks with the territorial government.

The new campground is located off Highway 3, near the access road to Behchokǫ̀. It includes 15 powered sites, along with washroom facilities, a kitchen shelter and boat launch. 

People who have reserved campsites online before will have to create a new account on the new booking site, said McCabe. 

She also encourages campers to familiarize themselves with the system as there is only one booking launch date for all campgrounds this year. In previous years, campground bookings had staggered dates.

"It's a very awesome new system, lots of new features, lots of different ways to see availability," McCabe said.

Another difference campers will notice is that one campground will be closed all season. The Escarpment Creek campground near Twin Falls Gorge Territorial Park saw extensive wildfire damage last year.

During the 2023 wildfire season, more than 4.1 million hectares of land burned across the N.W.T. McCabe said NWT Parks was fortunate in that only one campground experienced extensive damage.

More than 65 per cent of residents in the territory fled their homes last year due to wildfires, with many residents displaced for three weeks.

The evacuations and danger of the wildfires caused the camping season to shut down six weeks early in 2023, McCabe said. She said NWT Parks is hopeful for a "normal season" this year.

"I understand we're going to have a little bit of a drier year, but I mean, visitation is still welcome [and] individuals just have to be aware … we're still pristine and beautiful and our parks are ready to go."

Oregon State Parks seeks approval for new, improved campsite reservation system

The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department wants to create a new website where visitors reserve state park campsites. The cost? $13.35 million for five years.

If approved, the website could go live as early as late 2024 or early 2025, officials said.

“Visitors (would) notice a new website specific to Oregon State Parks with a new look, improved search functions, more visuals, greater accessibility and improved mobile compatibility,” OPRD spokeswoman Stefanie Knowlton said.

The state agency’s contract with website vendor ReserveAmerica.com expires in 2025 and could not be renewed. That opened up a competitive bidding process in 2023.

For the next website, parks officials decided on a platform called Recreation Hub, designed to “modernize and simplify campground management,” according to the department.

The platform is owned and run by Conduent and Booz Allen Hamilton, a multinational corporation that also runs Recreation.gov , the federal government’s website for booking campsites and permits across the nation’s public lands.

OPRD will ask the Oregon State Parks and Recreation Commission for approval of the contract at a meeting April 23-24 in Cannon Beach. Public comments are open for the decision.

Knowlton said parks officials and visitors tested different platforms over a 10 month period and decided Recreation Hub “was the most intuitive and accessible option.”

“Beyond improving tools available for visitors to make state park reservations, it will also offer agency staff reservation management, volunteer management, website content management, retail operations and visitor support features,” Knowlton said in an email.

Knowlton said the fee for booking a campsite — which currently sits at $8 per transaction — would not change in the short term.

However, she laid out that could be a possibility in the future.

“The $8 reservation fee has not changed in 15 years,” she said. “There is not a specific plan to change the fee, but leadership is discussing what amount makes sense for the future.”

The new website would cost $2.67 million per year. OPRD will ask to sign a five-year contract for $13.35 million.

The previous website, ReserveAmerica, cost $2.1 million per year, Knowlton said, “but it did not include all the functions that the new site will.”

Knowlton said the cost of the website would be paid by reservation fees. If the reservation fees don’t cover the full cost of the website, additional funds would come from the agency's budget.
