  • Trivia The producers asked George Takei to come back and play Sulu one more time, and take the helm of the Enterprise-B. But Takei refused, because if Sulu had taken the helm, this would have meant temporarily reducing Sulu's rank, so that he could serve under Captain Kirk again. He felt that Sulu had worked too hard to earn his command to allow even a temporary reduction. A new character, Demora, daughter of Sulu, was created to speak Sulu's lines.
  • Goofs As Worf climbs up the side of the 19th century ship, his right knee is red either from bleeding or from touching a part of the ship that may have been freshly painted. When he enters the bridge, the red color is missing.

Kirk : Captain of the Enterprise, huh?

Picard : That's right.

Kirk : Close to retirement?

Picard : I'm not planning on it.

Kirk : Well let me tell you something. Don't! Don't let them promote you. Don't let them transfer you. Don't let them do *anything* that takes you off the bridge of that ship, because while you're there... you can make a difference.

Picard : Come back with me. Help me stop Soran. Help make a difference again!

Kirk : Who am I to argue with the captain of the Enterprise? What's the name of that planet? Veridian III?

Kirk : I take it the odds are against us and the situation is grim?

Picard : You could say that.

Kirk : You know if Spock were here, he'd say I was an irrational, illogical human being for going on a mission like that.

Kirk : Sounds like fun!

  • Alternate versions Fox-TV version removes some footage: During the crisis on the Enterprise B, Kirk starts to stand a number of times to offer a suggestion and then thinks better of it, sitting back down. Scotty leans over after this happens a few times and asks if there's something wrong with his chair. Scotty's remark is deleted. After Riker orders the computer to remove the plank, causing Worf to be dumped in the water, his follow-up exchange with Picard is missing - Picard: "Number One, that's 'retract' the plank, not 'remove' the plank." Riker: "Of course, sir. [shouting over the rail] Sorry!"

How to stream the Star Trek Movies in the US

How to stream the star trek tv shows in the us, how to stream the star trek movies in the uk, how to stream the star trek tv shows in the uk.

Here's our Star Trek streaming guide, so you know where to go boldly where you've never gone before... Without leaving your sofa. We've come up with this Star Trek streaming guide because since the first ever episode aired back in 1966, there's been  a huge number of additions into the franchise.

Star Trek is currently in a bit of a purple patch for content as Paramount Plus , which is the home of all things Star Trek, is responsible for several new shows in recent years. But, it's not just new content, you'll also find where to stream the classics both movies and TV series below.

Before, Star Trek content was scattered all around different streaming services and searching for what you wanted to watch could feel like hunting for a cloaked Bird of Prey. However, these days you're able to stream all Star Trek content out there on Paramount Plus. However, we do have round-ups of the best sci-fi movies and TV shows on Netflix , Disney Plus and Amazon if you want to check them out.

You can also check out our take on the Star Trek movies, ranked so you know which movies to beam up onto your device. While Paramount Plus has everything Star Trek out there, you can find the odd bit of content on other platforms. So, below you'll find where you can watch what, regardless of where you're based, in our Star Trek streaming guide.

Walter Koenig, Leonard Nimoy, William Shatner, James Doohan, DeForest Kelley, George Takei, and Nichelle Nichols in Star Trek IV The Voyage Home (1986)_Paramount Pictures

The Star Trek movies can be divided into three tidy groups: the original cast, the Next Generation cast, and the reboot cast. All of them can be found on Paramount+. However, Paramount+ isn't the only place you can stream the movies and in some cases you can rent or buy from places such as Amazon .

Here’s how to stream the Star Trek movies in the U.S., in order of release:

Star Trek: The Motion Picture — Paramount+ Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan — Paramount+ Star Trek III: The Search for Spock — Paramount+ Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home — Paramount+ Star Trek V: The Final Frontier — Paramount+ Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country — Paramount+ Star Trek: Generations — Paramount+ Star Trek: First Contact — Paramount+ Star Trek: Insurrection — Paramount+ , Spectrum Star Trek: Nemesis — Paramount+   Star Trek (2009) — Paramount+ , Pluto TV Star Trek Into Darkness — Paramount+ , Pluto TV Star Trek Beyond — Paramount+ , DIRECTV , Freevee

When it comes to Star Trek on the small screen, you can find them all in one place. Paramount+ not only has every episode of every legacy Trek show, it’s also the home of all the new Star Trek programming, such as Picard and Strange New Worlds. If you’re a Trekkie, you absolutely want to have Paramount+ to keep up with the object of your affection. A word of warning though, other streaming platforms may only have select episodes or series to stream.

Star Trek: The Original Series — Paramount+ , Pluto TV Star Trek: The Next Generation — Paramount+ , Pluto TV Star Trek: Deep Space Nine  — Paramount+ , Sling , Spectrum Star Trek: Voyager — Paramount+ , Pluto TV Star Trek: Enterprise — Paramount+ Star Trek: Discovery — Paramount+ , DIRECTV Star Trek: Picard — Paramount+ Star Trek: Short Treks — Paramount+ Star Trek: Lower Decks — Paramount+ Star Trek: Prodigy — Paramount+ ,   DIRECTV , FuboTV , Spectrum Star Trek: The Animated Series — Paramount+ Star Trek: Strange New Worlds — Paramount+

Now that Paramount+ has arrived in the U.K, streaming Star Trek is a lot easier. You can view most of the movies on the streaming platform. Star Trek Beyond is the exception but that can be found on Amazon Prime. If you're not prepared to subscribe to Paramount+, the movies are available to rent or buy from a number of different platforms.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture — Paramount+ Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan — Paramount+ Star Trek III: The Search for Spock — Paramount+ Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home — Paramount+ Star Trek V: The Final Frontier — Paramount+ Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country — Paramount+ Star Trek: Generations — Paramount+ Star Trek: First Contact — Paramount+ Star Trek: Insurrection — Paramount+ Star Trek: Nemesis — Paramount+ Star Trek (2009) — Paramount+ , Amazon Prime Star Trek Into Darkness — Paramount+ , Amazon Prime Star Trek Beyond — Amazon Prime

Star Trek: The Next Generation - Picard, Ryker, and Troi

Now that Paramount+ has reached those across the pond, the U.K. can enjoy streaming Star Trek shows as well. Netflix is also another great option to fulfil your Trekkie viewing needs, especially if you're interested in checking out Star Trek: The Animated Series, which is exclusive to Netflix.

However, for the likes of Picard and Lower Decks, you’ll have to hop on over to Amazon Prime. It's worth noting that platforms such as SkyGo may only have a select number of episodes or series to stream.

The fifth and final season of Star Trek: Discovery has come to an end, concluding the sci-fi series. But this doesn't mean it's not worth rewatching or bingeing all the way through if you missed it the first time. Star Trek: Discovery premiered in 2017 and follows in the decades-long tradition of Star Trek stories. The series is set about five years before the original Star Trek, which chronicled Captain Kirk's five-year journey. In Star Trek: Discovery, the U.S.S. Discovery travels through space on a mission of exploration. Season 5 saw Captain Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and the U.S.S. Discovery crew on the hunt for an ancient power in a tight race against others to find it.

The series wrapped with its 65th episode on May 30, 2024, but you can catch up on every season now. Keep reading to learn how.

Geordi La Forge’s Best Star Trek TNG & Picard Episodes Ranked

Young sheldon set image reveals new look at pastor rob after his season 7 absence, “one of the great scenes in television history”: how band of brothers gets d-day so right explained by historian.

  • Geordi La Forge's romance mishap in "Booby Trap" is cringe-worthy but Geordi is redeemed in "The Enemy".
  • "The Enemy" showcases Geordi's resilience and leadership while Picard and Worf make tough decisions.
  • Star Trek: TNG delves into complex interpersonal dynamics with self-contained episodes and overarching plots.

Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge (LeVar Burton) has one particularly embarrassing storyline on Star Trek: The Next Generation , but this great episode redeems him. As the Chief Engineer on the USS Enterprise-D, Geordi knows his way around a warp core, but he sometimes has trouble with interpersonal relationships. It's a bit telling that Geordi's best friend is the android Lt. Commander Data (Brent Spiner), who isn't exactly known for his social skills. Although La Forge plays a major role in many TNG episodes, only a handful of episodes give him center stage and reveal more about Geordi as a person.

Geordi La Forge's cringe-worthy "romance" with a holodeck version of Dr. Leah Brahms (Susan Gibney) in Star Trek: The Next Generation season 3, episode 6, "Booby Trap" is a low point for the character. In "Booby Trap," the Enterprise gets stuck in a centuries-old snare, and La Forge recruits Holo-Brahms to help find a way to break the ship free. On its own, this would have been a fine storyline, but Geordi proceeds to develop feelings for the recreation of Brahms, which brings the entire episode down. The following episode, however, gives Geordi a chance to shine, as he must work with an enemy to survive a dangerous planet.

Star Trek: The Next Generation icon Geordi La Forge has become a legendary member of the franchise and has featured in some all-time great episodes.

Star Trek: TNG's "The Enemy" Is Great For Geordi

"welcome to galorndon core, where no good deed goes unpunished.".

In Star Trek: The Next Generation season 3, episode 7, "The Enemy," Geordi La Forge finds himself trapped on a stormy planet alongside a Romulan soldier. Because of interference from the electromagnetic storms, Geordi cannot contact the Enterprise and the ship must wait for a break in the storm to beam him back up. The Enterprise sends down a beacon for Geordi to follow, but as he heads toward it, he is attacked by a Romulan soldier named Centurion Bochra (John Snyder). The electromagnetic radiation soon begins causing neurological damage, rendering Geordi unable to see and Bochra struggling to walk.

It's difficult to reconcile the Geordi La Forge of "The Enemy" with the one of the previous episode, "Booby Trap".

The Federation and the Romulan Empire are the bitterest of enemies, but La Forge and Bochra manage to work together long enough to make it back to the Enterprise. It's difficult to reconcile the Geordi La Forge of "The Enemy" with the one of the previous episode, "Booby Trap". La Forge is, at turns, funny, charming, sarcastic, clever, and compassionate. After falling into a cavern, he creates picks for himself to climb up a rock face to escape. He then remains calm when Bochra takes him prisoner, eventually convincing the Romulan to work with him. Not only does Geordi prove why he's the Chief Engineer, but he also gets some truly great lines.

La Forge also talks Bochra through the process of combining his tricorder with his VISOR to create a way to navigate to the beacon.

TNG's "The Enemy" Is Also A Great Episode For Picard & Worf

"we have good reason to mistrust one another, but we have better reasons to set our differences aside.".

Geordi La Forge's story is not the only part of "The Enemy" that works, as Captain Picard and Lt. Worf (Michael Dorn) both get plenty to do as well. While Geordi and Bochra fight to survive on the planet, Picard must deal with Patahk (Steve Rankin), the injured Romulan soldier the away team rescued, while also stalling Romulan Commander Tomalak (Andreas Katsulas), who has come in search of his men. As Dr. Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden) works to save Patahk, she determines that only Worf's blood will work for a transfusion. Worf, however, refuses to save the life of a Romulan, as it was Romulans who killed his parents at the Khitomer Massacre.

Worf's refusal to save Patahk's life makes sense for Worf as a character, and "The Enemy" surprisingly goes through with the Romulan's death, with no last-minute Star Trek solution.

Even when Picard basically begs Worf to agree to the transfusion, pointing out that Patahk's death could lead to a war, Worf remains firm in his choice. When Tomalak learns of Patahk's death, he prepares to fire on the Enterprise. Thankfully, Geordi and Bochra are rescued just in time for Picard to provide Tomalak with another choice. Picard gets to deliver a powerful speech about preventing a war and he takes a gamble by lowering the Enterprise's shields. In the end, Picard's gamble pays off, the Enterprise lives to see another day, and another great episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation comes to a close.

Star Trek: The Next Generation is the third installment in the sci-fi franchise and follows the adventures of Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the crew members of the USS Enterprise. Set around one hundred years after the original series, Picard and his crew travel through the galaxy in largely self-contained episodes exploring the crew dynamics and their own political discourse. The series also had several overarching plots that would develop over the course of the isolated episodes, with four films released in tandem with the series to further some of these story elements.

How Angela Lansbury Changed Kate Mulgrew’s Life on ‘Murder, She Wrote’

The Big Picture

  • Kate Mulgrew credits Angela Lansbury for kickstarting her career with a role in Murder, She Wrote .
  • Lansbury's wise words inspired Mulgrew to persevere in her acting career until she hit it big.
  • Mulgrew went on to star in two more episodes of Murder, She Wrote before reaching the stars on Star Trek: Voyager .

At an early point in her career, long before she explored the spaceways on Star Trek: Voyager , Kate Mulgrew landed a guest role on the popular Angela Lansbury mystery series Murder, She Wrote that changed her life. Mulgrew discussed the impact Lansbury's advice had on her this weekend at Fan Expo Boston, during a panel moderated by Collider's Maggie Lovitt . Mulgrew guested on the series' third-season episode "The Corpse Flew First Class" as Sonny Greer, a wealthy woman who poisons her lover during a trans-Atlantic flight.

When asked about her experiences on Murder, She Wrote , Mulgrew credited Lansbury with arranging her appearance:

"I have only one person to thank for this, and that is the great, great Angela Lansbury. What a woman, and I mean, just extraordinary. Anyway, her son was my next-door neighbor in Brentwood. And often we would talk over the wall and I told him once I said, ‘Boy, I could do with some money.’ And he said, ‘Well, let me talk to my mother.’ And I said ‘Really?!’ And he said ‘Yes.’ And he did, and I got an offer — and to play the murderer too , and I flew to it because I was always being cast as the good girl. The murderer, what heaven! And then she invited me into her trailer. I didn’t know her. She said, ‘Oh, darling why don’t you come into my trailer, we’ll have tea together. You will, darling.’"

Lansbury, befitting her decades of acting experience, had wise words for Mulgrew. "‘The acting comes and goes, its ups and downs," she explained before offering the most crucial bit of advice, "' You must hang in until you hit it, and you will hit it. ’ I said ‘Mrs. Lansbury, thank you very much, please feel free to cast me as the murderer as often as you like.’"

Lansbury took her up on her offer, and Mulgrew would go on to star in two more episodes of Murder, She Wrote : 1992's "Ever After," in which she played murderous soap star Joanna Rollins, in a possible nod to Mulgrew's breakout role on the soap opera Ryan's Hope ; and 1994's "The Dying Game," in which she plays an unscrupulous department store employee who turns out not to be the murderer. Eventually, Mulgrew's career took off, and Lansbury was there to see it. Mulgrew continued, saying:

"Cut to, I don’t know how many years later, but I was in the ballroom at the Hilton in Los Angeles, and she was up for some award, and it was a sea of people in sequin gowns. It was just a din and I saw her across the room and I waved and I said ‘Angela!’ and she went ‘Kate, you hit it!’"

Who Is Kate Mulgrew?

After leaving Ryan's Hope , where her character had become a fan-favorite, Mulgrew's career hit a series of dead ends. In 1978, she was cast as the lead in Mrs. Columbo , a series purporting to depict the famously unseen wife of Peter Falk 's persistent detective . Columbo 's producers and Falk weren't happy, and neither were viewers; in short order, the series was retitled Kate Columbo , then Kate the Detective , then Kate Loves a Mystery , then canceled, all in the span of thirteen episodes. 1985 saw her play the female lead in Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins , a film, based on the popular Destroyer pulp novels, that was intended to kick off a franchise; however, thanks to audience and critical disinterest, Williams' adventures began and ended after one movie.

After appearing in a series of TV movies and guest appearances, Mulgrew landed her biggest part yet in 1994 — Star Trek: Voyager 's Kathryn Janeway, the franchise's first-ever lead female character. However, she almost didn't get it. Initially, Geneviève Bujold was cast as Janeway, but Bujold, who had never played a leading TV role before, found the experience overwhelming and left after two days of filming. Mulgrew was called in to replace her at the last minute and captained Voyager through its seven-season run. She subsequently gained fame with a new generation of viewers, playing aging Russian criminal Red on Netflix's Orange Is the New Black .

Murder, She Wrote , starring Lansbury as mystery novelist Jessica Fletcher, ran for twelve seasons on CBS. The show frequently featured stars from the Golden Age of Hollywood as the many murderers, murder victims, and red herrings of Fletcher's fictional hometown of Cabot Cove, Maine.

Mulgrew can next be heard reprising Kathryn Janeway on the second season of Star Trek: Prodigy , which will debut on July 1 on Netflix. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates. Murder, She Wrote is available to stream on Peacock.

Terry Matalas Has Found Things to Do Besides Waiting For a Star Trek: Picard Spinoff

Justin Carter Avatar

Per the Hollywood Reporter on Friday, Matalas has been tapped to write a remake of 20th Century Fox’s 1985 film Enemy Mine. The original film starred Dennis Quaid as a human pilot named Davidge and the late Lou Gossett Jr. as Jerry, a reptilian alien who crash land on an inhospitable planet and have to work together to survive, with Davidgeeventually tasked with caring for Jerry’s baby. Despite its troubled production (including the firing of original director Richard Loncraine) and low box office, the film took on a cult status, and since it’s the summer of remake announcements , what’s one more to the list?

Between that and Vision, Matalas is going to be busy for a bit, in turn meaning it’ll likely be a while before he gets to his proposed follow up to Picard. Before and after the show wrapped its final season last year, he and several of the show’s actorsactors talked up a hypothetical Star Trek: Legacy series that’d function as the Next Generation equivalent to Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Jeri Ryan’s Seven of Nine leading the adult kids of several Next Generation characters on weekly adventures (with potential cameos from their parents) was an idea fans really glommed onto, but since Paramount didn’t get that ball rolling once Picard wrapped, Matalas got scooped up by Disney.

Hope for Legacy still exists among the cast, and Patrick Stewart’s even said a movie for his Enterprise captain is in the works to help build off the show’s momentum. Should Matalas not return to Paramount once Vision and Enemy Mine wrap, that film may be the closest equivalent to his would-be show that Trek fans get.
