Sporting Activities

Sports enthusiasts will feel right at home on our ships, whether taking part or just watching.

There are many ways to keep yourself active on our ships. A few laps of the Promenade Deck and the games of shuffleboard and deck quoits have been pastimes for almost as long as we have been sailing. You’ll find pursuits like table tennis, paddle tennis, golf putting and swimming too. For armchair sports fans, Sport24 offers coverage of major events including the Premier League, Wimbledon, Formula 1, the Ryder Cup and more, shown in certain bars and lounges, and all staterooms and suites.

Special Dietary Requirements

The ship can cater for the following dietary requirements on request: vegetarian, low /no fat low salt /no salt, lactose intolerant , dairy free, gluten free, wheat free, low cholesterol, diabetic, kosher and vegan. Passengers requiring any of the above diets should notify the Customer Contact Centre prior to sailing.

During the day casual shirts, shorts, trousers and beachwear are ideal. The main restaurants require a casual dress code for breakfast and lunch, however you may wear shorts in either the Kings Court (Queen Mary 2) or Lido Restaurant (Queen Victoria & Queen Elizabeth).

Evenings are split into two different dress codes. As a guide, these are: Formal evening wear consisting of an evening or cocktail dress or smart trouser suit for ladies, a tuxedo, dinner jacket or dark suit for men. Passengers may wear formal national dress or military uniform if they wish.

Informal evenings would consist of a required jacket and optional tie for gentlemen, whilst ladies should wear cocktail dresses, stylish separates or equivalent.

Disabled Facilities

Fully accessible adapted cabins are available onboard the ship and some suites are also suitable for wheelchair users as the cabin door is wider and the bathroom offers a larger floor space. Assisted embarkation and disembarkation is available at some ports.

Passengers who have a disability which might mean that they require additional assistance, in particular in an emergency situation, must inform the Customer Contact Centre at the time of booking.

Smoking & E-cigarette Policy

For the safety, comfort and enjoyment of our guests, smoking (including Electronic alternatives) is not permitted in staterooms, on stateroom balconies or in public rooms. You will find designated areas of the open deck on each ship where smoking is permitted, these will be clearly signposted on board and listed in the Daily Programme.

The only exception to this is Churchill’s Cigar Lounge, which is reserved for cigar and pipe smokers.

This policy is designed through direct feedback from our guests and is for the safety and comfort of all guests. This means that all will be able to enjoy the use of all areas of the ship and their private balconies without the effect of drifting smoke.

Age Restrictions

Children older than six months may travel, however Transatlantic crossings have a minimum age requirement of 12 months. Guests under 16 years of age must be accompanied in the stateroom by a guest who is 16 years of age or older.

As with UK laws, the age limit for purchase and consumption of alcohol on board is 18 years of age, however, when in US waters, the age limit increases to 21.

A new residential world cruise brand, Villa Vie Residences, is preparing to set sail for the first time on May 15, 2024. The brand’s ship, Villa Vie Odyssey, will offer residents the opportunity to voyage around the world for the next 3.5 years for under $99 per day.

The years-long voyage will visit 425 destinations across 147 countries, including over 100 islands.

Residents have two options for purchasing their cabins on board. They can own a fully-equipped cabin starting at $100,000. Family and friends are able to visit at no cost, except for $33 daily port taxes and gratuities. Residents also have the option to rent out their cabin when they’re not onboard.

The other option is to purchase segments of the world cruise program, which range from 35 to 120 days. Prices started at $89 per person, per day. There are 16 segments within the 1,301-day itinerary.

The voyage is all-inclusive, offering complimentary food, drinks, alcohol, and wifi. Passengers also have access to a fitness center, pool, business center with private offices and a library, pickleball courts, a culinary arts center with cooking classes and self-service options, live entertainment, enrichment programs, and a Pet Spa & Resort.

The complimentary services of professional housekeeping, bi-weekly laundry service, and 24/7 medical support are also available.

Villa Vie Odyssey is currently undergoing renovations and upgrades ahead of her May departure from Southampton. The ship was built in 1993 as Crown Dynasty for Crown Cruise Line, and most recently sailed as Braemar for Fred.Olsen Cruises.

The 2024 cruise season brings Princess' 55th-anniversary sailing to The Great Land, and the line is offering more than 150 Alaska voyages between April and September. The popular Voyage of the Glaciers with Glacier Bay itinerary northbound from Vancouver to Anchorage (Whittier), Alaska , is available on dozens of dates this season on Grand Princess , Royal Princess or Sapphire Princess . The sailing includes stops in the ports of Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway, as well as scenic cruising in beautiful Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve and College Fjord in Alaska. If you prefer a smaller ship, choose Grand Princess or Sapphire Princess, which hold 2,610 and 2,680 passengers (double occupancy), respectively. Meanwhile, Royal Princess accommodates 3,560 guests at double occupancy.

The Princess Cruises North to Alaska program features immersive, family-friendly opportunities to learn about the history and traditions of the 49th state. Guests can sample fresh local seafood and meet famous Alaskans such as Libby Riddles, the first woman to win the 1,100-mile Iditarod dog race. In Skagway, families can meet some of the newest sled dogs and their handlers during Puppies in the Piazza on the ship. The sailing includes the ports of Sitka, Juneau , Icy Strait Point and Ketchikan (Ward Cove), plus scenic cruising in Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier in Alaska. There's also an evening stop in Victoria, British Columbia , before disembarking in Seattle. Norwegian Bliss can carry 4,004 passengers at double occupancy and 4,266 passengers at maximum capacity.

The entire family will enjoy excursions like the Whale Watching & Bear Search tour in Icy Strait Point, while thrill-seekers of all ages will want to book an adrenaline-pumping ride down the mountain on the massive ZipRider zip line. In Ketchikan, take a hike through Tongass National Forest, the largest national forest in the U.S., where you might catch glimpses of wildlife like black bears or bald eagles. Celebrity's seven-night Alaska Hubbard Glacier itinerary is available on nine voyages between May and September 2024. The Celebrity Solstice (which holds 2,852 guests at double occupancy) sails round-trip from Vancouver and stops in the ports of Icy Strait Point, Juneau and Ketchikan in Alaska. You'll have two days of scenic cruising in the Inside Passage and around Hubbard Glacier. While in Icy Strait Point, book a guided nature walk excursion along the "Trail of the Bears" in the bush country of the Spasski River Valley. Disney cruise ship set to make first-ever sailing from Southampton in 2025

A Disney cruise ship has been announced to be sailing from Southampton for the very first time next year.

The Disney Fantasy cruise ship will sail from the port between late July and September 2025 as part of a deployment in Europe.

It will initially operate five to 12-night cruises from Barcelona and Civitavecchia in Italy between May and July before heading over to Southampton.

Travel Weekly reports that cruises from the UK will be a mix of three, four and five-night sailings to destinations including Spain, Norway and around the British Isles.

Disney Fantasy is a 2,500-passenger vessel, which is about 40% larger than the line’s first two ships Disney Magic and Disney Wonder.

It is the sister ship of the Disney Dream and was built by Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany, beginning its maiden voyage on March 31, 2012.

The Disney cruises offer a wide array of options for entertainment , dining and recreation, including fireworks at sea, live shows and character appearances.

On their website , it adds: "Keep a watchful eye for Mickey and his pals at designated places on the ship—it’s a joy when kids see some of their Disney heroes! "

Disney Fantasy cruise ship sailing from Southampton

Despite the fact that 2025 will be the first time the ship will launch cruises from Southampton, it is not the first time it has stopped there.

Back in November 2020, Disney Fantasy appeared at the docks along with an American Dodge police car that was parked in Mayflower Park.
