Karen Marie Ørsted, better known by her stage name MØ is a Danish singer-songwriter originally from Odense who rose to prominence in 2014.

Mø has been a favourite with the critics since the beginning of her career. She first gained attention following the release of the 'Bikini Daze' EP which featured early single 'Never Wanna Know' which went on to make the final cut of her album. The production of the songstresses' shimmering pop set the blogosphere alight and allowed her the opportunity to collaborate with the likes of Diplo. The EP was a moderate success, peaking at #11 on the US Heatseekers chart, more importantly it spread Mø's name throughout the States.

Her 2013 single 'Waste Of Time' was featured in an advertisement for Kopparberg at the end of the year and became something of a cult hit. She supported british electro duo Alunageorge on a tour of the UK and her notoriety grew substantially here too. The debut album 'No Mythologies To Follow' was released in February 2014 and was met with rave reviews from critics including The Guardian and The Independent. It peaked at #2 in her native Denmark and #58 in the UK. Zane Lowe chose the preceding single 'Don't Wanna Dance' as his Hottest Record In The World and it was featured on his hugely popular BBC Radio 1 show.

Her electro sound is inspired by the likes of Black Flag, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins and she states the Spice Girls got her interested in music. This mixture of electro and punk won her four Danish music awards and a European Border Breakers award. Recently Mø has contributed guest vocals to a hit single with Iggy Azeala, collaborated with Elliphant on an original EP and co-written a track for Major Lazer.

Live reviews

After cancelling her concert scheduled in April due to illness, Mø finally arrived in Munich to offer us an unforgettable show. She was like a tornado. She couldn’t stop moving during around one hour that the concert lasted. Let’s go back to the beginning. The concert was in one of my favourite venues in Munich: Feierwerk. It’s a very small place but I think it was perfect place for an beginner like Mø.

The Danish singer showed up on the stage after 10pm to end with the boring wait. Mø and her band composed by three people started the concert with Maiden, one of the 16 songs that you can find in her debut album, No Mythologies to follow. She just needed one song to make people dance. The screens located in the walls mixed scenes of all kind of classic movies with scenes from her videoclips. Everything fit with the song that was playing in that moment. Seeing her moving on the stage, it didn’t look like I was in a concert of a new artist. She came closer to the public all the time, going down the stage to even dance with the crowd. And even though all this non-stop dancing, her voice was very polish all the time. There were several highlights during the concert, but the most sung songs were part of the encore: Spice Girl’s cover Say You’ll be there, and Don’t wanna dance her current single. I’ve attended to many concerts in Munich and after this one I can confirm something: everybody was danced as I never seen in this city before.

After my first MØ show on November 30th in Montreal, I traveled to NYC for the Terminal 5 show, hoping to get closer to the stage. I got there just in time to get super close.

It was a super long wait, they didn't take the stage until almost 11Pm but it was so worth it! Karen pulled out all the stops for this show, as most artists do for NYC but pumped with super energy, I was struck by how STRONG her voice is, live. I also felt the crowd was more fun and more friendly than Montreal and everyone was super into her, and sang all the songs along with her. The band was tight as ever and whatever the technical difficulties were with the computer, it wasn't noticed by anyone!

MØ has it all, voice, stage presence, songwriting, DIY marketing, producing, arranging and recording vocals in her closet! She's so down to Earth and open. She introduced a special guest for a duet and simply said, "my friend" is gonna do a song with me." Although it was too early and her "friend" wasn't even there yet! She's even super cute when she f@cks up!

The new songs are amazing and she did full versions of all of her songs, unlike in Montreal where some tunes were shortened. New York shows are always the best! I LOVE MØ and can't wait to see her again!

I've been listening to MØ for a bit of time, and in that time I tried to imagine what her presence would be like live. Her energy was non-stop and her vocals were pretty darn close to studio quality, even if they weren't perfect. Blame part of the vocal quality on Webster Hall because it seemed they were too focused on increasing the bass to get the ground shaking rather than on MØ's vocals, but she was also running around and dancing on stage quite a bit. Her production team did a solid job of using her vocal samples when she dramatically decided to crowd surf and run to different parts of the venue to perform from. Girl is crazy!

She stacked her set list with basically every track from No Mythologies to Follow, and got the crowd to sing along with her Spice Girls cover. Again, everything she performed sounded pretty darn close to her album versions, which says a bit for the way she was moving around, I was tired just watching her. If you don't know her tracks then maybe MØ would've been just a rambunctious girl running all around the venue (I would definitely recommend seeing her in a smaller venue <2000), but she brings the heartbreak and struggle for love quite well also.

My first introduction to Danish singer Mø was back in 2012 at one of the regular Jajaja club nights held at London’s Lexington and I was instantly taken in by her stage presence and catchy tunes.

I have seen her on several occasions since then at places such as Elektroverkz, XOYO and Heaven and every time it is lined with great sultry, soulful pop/electronica songs, the by now famous (rather sexy) frog in a blender dance, crowd surfing - or at least crowd mixing – the projection of wacky videos of her performing the chorus parts of her songs behind the band and of course the very talented DJ and guitarist, both of whom are so essential to her live performances. AND every time she brings that little bit extra to the show which means I will be back for at least one more dose when she headlines Shepherds Bush Empire in November 2014.

She is guesting at quite a few festivals this year, so there’s plenty of opportunity to catch her if you missed the initial part of her tour(s) –and if she stays on her current path, I’m sure that will remain the case for years to come.

Mø was absolutely amazing on Saturday. Her vocals sounded as smooth as her records and as ever, her energy was palpable. I saw Mø at XOYO in a much more intimate gig so it was great to see her fill a larger venue both with fans and with the melodies from her powerful lungs.

Mø switched up some of her songs, adding an extra dose of etherealness which sends shivers up and down your spine. She thanked her fans between nearly every song and you could feel the love when she ran around the balcony saying hi and cuddling a few lucky spectators. The whole show was electrifying finished off with a four song encore !! And this wasn't just any encore. The huge hit Lean On was played of course but my absolute highlight, tugging on my forgotten teenage heartstrings, was when Mel C aka Sporty Spice joined Mø for Say You'll Be There. It was an experience for me but you could also tell it was an experience for Mø and that's what made it even more magical. Everyone in the room had fun and it was amaing to see superstar Mø as well as a very excited, grateful Marie.

Here's to many more !

This was an unexpectedly mindblowing concert! Besides choosing a great artist to open for her (Ryan Ritchie), she exceeds anybody's expectation by performing almost all her recent album tracks plus singles like the Spice Girls' cover (my favourite!) with so much quality and energy that will give anybody goosebumps all over. My only friends who listen to her were back in Brazil on that day but I'm such a big fan of hers I didn't mind going by myself.. turns out the atmosphere was so incredible that I ended up meeting some really nice fellows and having just the best time with them :) (cheers Emma and Connor!) She can be soft, aggressive, crazy and profound all at the same time. And on top of all that, I think the icing on the cake was the fact that she walked amongst the crowd and got up on the seating area, sat on the balcony and ended up being carried by everyone like a true rockstar! In that way she didn't just perform for us but made sure we felt like we were truly part of the show. Thank you MØ for such an amazing experience, I løve you more than ever.

I've been looking forward to seeing Mø live ever since I saw the video for "Glass" about a year ago, and she didn't disappoint.

Mø is a great performer. From the second she walked out on stage she owned the space, strutting, thrusting and occasionally running out into the audience. At one point she climbed onto the bar at the far end of the room, inviting others to join her. This is a performer with huge potential.

The only drawback is that with just a three-piece band at her disposal and no backing singers, Mø made use of a lot of backing tapes, and sometimes it was hard to tell which part she was singing and what was pre-recorded. It would have been nice to hear stripped-down versions of some songs rather than everything sounding as close as possible to the recording.

Nevertheless, her band is super tight and talented and Mø's stage presence is so compelling that you quickly forget about such things and just dance to the music. I can't wait to hear how her style evolves as she spends more time on the road and less in the studio.

Mø's set was unreal. She's a fantastic performer and really engages with the crowd. She came down into the crowd twice, once to dance with us and the other to crowd surf. Unbelievable and incredibly courageous. HOWEVER, if you see the Mø & Cashmere Cat concert, completely skip Cashmere Cat. He essentially presses play and twists a few knobs. Without exaggeration, the crowd watched him for 30 seconds while he was scrolling on his phone. Incredibly weak performance, and I would have preferred for him to not come on at all.

GREAT JOB MØ! Not so great job Cashmere Cat.

MØ is an amazing singer who astonished me with her stage presence. She physically got the crowd to dance with her and everyone I saw around me had a huge smile on their face for the entire length of the show. The opening acts were great and the 1st opener did a wonderful job hyping up the crowd. I am so proud of MØ for playing such a small venue just like it was a huge theatre. She is truly a beautiful artist and performer I can not wait to see her again In concert.

MØ was absolutely phenomenal! She had such a awe inspiring stage presence and her vocals lit up the enire room! She got really intimite with the crowd and came down a few times to dance with us! She was more engaging then most acts I have seen recently and I will definitely be keeping my eye out for when she is in town again! I loved it

“Movin’ On” Video

The song, “Movin’ On,” is the classic travelin‘ man’s anthem recalling the ten years 1964–1974 in which Ron West experienced life on the road gigging with his brothers and performing every weekend with The Chesmann. Thirty some years after its initial release in 1977, “Movin’ On,” continues to receive airplay. Grab your wheels and take off on a highway road trip to Missouri right now: just click, sit back and enjoy the ride... Missouri: Movin’ On the Road Missouri’s debut album, "Missouri," was released in August 1977. The album cover, shown above, depicts the St. Louis’ Gateway Arch, “Gateway to the West,” superimposed over a scene of Monument Valley in north-eastern Arizona, a concept that was West’s idea. A month after its release, the album was listed on "Billboard's Recommended Album" page. As the album received massive airplay on Midwest radio, Missouri embarked upon a concert tour. "Missouri" performed across the nation and provided warm-up at large venue gigs, stadium shows and tours. Where the band was well known and had solid air play, "Missouri" would headline. Missouri toured with national acts such as Ted Nugent, Golden Earring, Scorpions, Blackfoot, Sammy Hagar, Nazareth, Molly Hatchet, REO Speedwagon, Blackfoot, Rush, Blue Oyster Cult, Van Halen, Jefferson Starship, just to name a few. Missouri soon signed with Polydor records and released its second album entitled “Welcome to Missouri,” in 1979. The group continued touring until 1984. While the second album’s sales figures were impressive, the record industry and musical tastes were changing. Polydor Records did not renew Missouri’s option to record another album. VNR records later released and distributed “The Best of Missouri” CD. Read more about rock group Missouri... The Chesmann Inducted into the Kansas Music Hall of Fame In 2005, Ron West and his brothers, as The Chesmann, were inducted into the Kansas Music Hall of Fame as its first inaugural class of honorees along with Big Joe Turner, Kansas, Mike Finnigan, Brewer & Shipley, the Blue Things, the Fabulous Flippers, Rodney & the Blazers and the Red Dogs. The Chesmann performed that evening with a line up that included Ron West, Gary West, Stephan West, Jim McAllister and Alan Blasco. It was a most memorable rock n’ roll reunion for friends and families.

New Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Foreigner will bid farewell to Missouri this summer

missouri band tour

In the sports world, fans rarely have a chance to see a star play after being named to their game's hall of fame.

In music, the opportunity remains rare but comes around a bit more often. Classic-rock fans will get that chance — at least three of them — starting this summer when newly-minted Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Foreigner swing through the Show Me State.

The hall's 2024 class was named Sunday; Foreigner joins the likes of A Tribe Called Quest, Cher, Dave Matthews Band, Mary J. Blige and more to be inducted in a future ceremony.

Foreigner's three scheduled Missouri dates are part of a farewell tour running through the end of 2024, and possibly beyond. Closest to home here in Columbia, the band will play the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia Aug. 8 with Maggie Rose. Tickets are $50-$60.

First though, the band will play Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in the St. Louis area June 18; Foreigner will also play Ozarks Amphitheater in Camdenton Oct. 4.

Before the band hits its final stride, here's a quick look at Foreigner, by the numbers.

Foreigner, by the numbers

1976: The year British guitarist Mick Jones formed the band in New York City.

1: The highest American chart position achieved by one of Foreigner's singles; "I Want to Know What Love Is," the band's only No. 1 stateside hit, topped the charts in 1984.

9: The amount of Top 10 hits the band scored in the U.S., starting with 1977's "Feels Like the First Time" and ending with "I Don't Want to Live Without You" in 1988.

2009: The date of the band's most recent album release, "Can't Slow Down"; AllMusic scribe Stephen Thomas Erlewine said the record "sounds like it could have been a hit in the late '80s."

2003: The end of star singer Lou Gramm's official run in Foreigner, though he has popped up and on stage with the band on a few occasions.

1: Number of original Foreigner members left: Jones is the only remaining founder, though several of the current members have been around for some time, including singer Kelly Hansen since 2005.

Jones' touring role has been limited for some time by Parkinson's disease.

"As to whether I get up on stage and perform hasn’t really been decided as yet," Jones told Billboard about the forthcoming Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony . "In some ways it might be nice just to be there to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy being inducted."
