The longines global champions tour is back in rome with great fanfare to the most famous and glorious arena of the ancient world, the circus maximus , where chariot races were held for the roman ludi in honour of jupiter and the consualia, the celebrations dedicated to the god conso, during which donkey, mule and horse races were held..
The 2022 edition of the Longines Global Champions Tour makes a stop in Rome again. The ‘Formula 1 of Show Jumping’ takes place from 2 to 4 September, included among the Great City Events of Roma Capitale. Entrance is free for all competitions and shows.
The 7th edition of the Longines Global Champios Tour in Rome
For the seventh consecutive year, the Longines Global Champions Tour is offering fans and onlookers in Rome a spectacular three-day event with 15 competitions (9 in the CSI2*, 6 in the CSI5*) that will host 122 athletes representing 24 countries from all continents and more than 200 horses, with a prize pool of 650,000 euro.
Thirteenth stop of the season and third last act of the tour, Rome celebrates the world’s elite of show jumping: many champions have arrived to compete in the two top competitions of the Longines Global Champions Tour and the Global Champions League, starting with the Swedish world number one Henrik Von Eckermann , double gold medallist at the last World Championships in Herning , to the Olympic champion for Tokyo 2020 , the British champion Ben Maher , and the current circuit leader, the German Christian Ahlmann , to the winner of the 2021 edition, the Sweden Peder Fredricson , currently number 3 in the world ranking.
