Why can't you get your act together before rolling out a change with your website. It is very discourteous for you to put guests/passengers through hassles because of your consistently incompetent IT department. Have you ever heard of "beta testing?"

And how about posting a notice that there would be a change coming BEFORE you put it into action, instead of hours later. There's an idea.

Another wonderful IT experience with Celebrity. I logged in and like everyone else arrived at a new page where I needed to update some information and change my password. Maybe I’m old and slow but at no where during the process did I see or receive notice that going forward my previous user name would not work and my e-mail address would now be used....

I’ve often said “Thank god the cm cruise product is better than the IT product” but at times like. This you still have to shake your head.

After i changed everything I just get a black screen with pretty white dots. Celebrity tells me to clear history and it should work. Hate clearing history because every site then asks me for passwords. Wish celebrity would have fixed their last website issues before throwing another out there.

Those aren't links. The answer to the FAQ's listed at the top are actually displayed at the bottom. Links would have worked better or perhaps just adding the bullet point answer directly below the bullet point FAQ would have made more sense. Ultimately many of the Questions that X cruisers have aren't addressed by the FAQ and is just another example of how bad the IT issues are at X.

Back in grad school we had to do case studies. I hope somebody is keeping track of all of this and will write a brilliant thesis on how not to roll out a system change, starting with giving us the instructions hours after the procedure changed, and not sending this to every user of the system. Telling cruise critic posters is fine, but we are a very small percentage of their passenger base. There are thousands and thousands of people out there who are affected, and have no way to know what's going on......

One need not lose passwords when clearing history, usually browsers will permit one to select what information is retained.

The problem is that they grab us from guinea pigs, the correct thing would be for their systems department to carry out the tests before releasing the hare.

Many years ago I did charity work in a day centre for people with 'special educational needs' and feel they should be given every possible assistance they need to achieve their potential.

Little did I think then that they would all be employed in Celebrity's / RCI's IT department.

I have tried to log-in this morning, but it would not let me because it said my user name was already in use - yes it is - by me!

And as for contact details - how about some for the UK??

I very much doubt if anyone here used 'easyCruise' during its short life, but would be interested to know how that and X compared when it came to IT.

I updated my user id and password a couple of days ago and tested to make sure that I could log on to both Celebrity and Royal Caribbean. Worked like a charm. Today I go in and I get one of two messages depending on the browser I use. "We're unable to complete your request, so please try again later." or it tells me that I'm putting in the wrong password, which I'm not. And it tells me that I only have one more password attempt before I'll have to change my password. This is so incredibly frustrating.

I can get into our accounts but our Azamara cruises have disappeared AAGGGHHH

Also have found that the site no longer remembers passwords, tells me it is incorrect. IT you are useless

Yes atrocious website. But to help you out here are two numbers to get you through to Celebrity Cruises avoiding the premium rate of 7 pence a minute. They were both still working last week.

I absolutely refuse to pay to call them, especially when you can be on hold for so long and choosing options before even speaking to anyone. They really should not keep them hidden away. Good Luck.

Just an update - a further check revealed the new account had my birthdate recorded incorrectly - not my doing. Fixed that, and the accounts all link up.

I recommend never accessing the X website with your regular browser. If you don't feel like clearing history, cookies and cache, then just open your browser and then open an InPrivate or Incognito window (called different names on different browsers). Then go the X site. Those windows do not allow cookies and I've found the most consistent rate of success using them, regardless of whether I use Edge, Chrome, IE or Firefox. Good luck.

Here's a question. When I log into the Royal site, I see our Royal cruises, and on X site, I see those. Should I be seeing a combination of both or only Royal on Royal and X on X? The sites show the correct Loyalty club levels and their corresponding level on the sister cruise line but cruising history is specific to the one I log onto.

At the moment, I am in a longwinded e mail conversation with a Captains Club rep who is attempting to advise me, so hopefully will get it sorted eventually.

I have at least managed to check in for our September cruise, and received our e docs, so no panic there.

Had a similar problem with my Club Accor and Fairmont hotels loyalty clubs after their recent merger. Neither of my passwords work any more, and one website says my membership number doesn't exist, then promptly displays it in the box. A small relief that it isn't just Celebrity that can't sort out their IT problems, but not reassuring in the bigger picture!

The 9-Month World Cruise Is Almost Over, Leaving One of Its Famous Passengers Feeling Conflicted

Royal Caribbean’s Ultimate World Cruise set sail on Dec. 10, 2023 and officially comes to an end in less than a month, on Sept. 10

The Ultimate World Cruise is officially coming to an end after nearly nine months at sea — and one of its famous passengers has mixed feelings about it. 

The cruiser, who goes by drjennytravels , has gained a loyal following sharing content from her remarkable (and lengthy) voyage. She went viral for sharing dispatches from the rocky voyage through the tempestuous Drake Passage to Antarctica in January and when the ship encountered a “scary” fog that led to a canceled port in May.

In a TikTok shared on August 10, Dr .Jenny started a countdown of the last month of cruising aboard the Serenade of the Seas and expressed her sadness over the months-long journey almost being over.

“Today marks one month to go on the nine-month world cruise and I am feeling mixed emotions about it,” she says in the clip. “In the long term I’m feeling sad, anxious, and kind of dreading the end of this adventure — but on the other hand, we still have one month of cruising to go.”

She adds that she’s excited for friends to join her for a segment of the trip from Copenhagen to Amsterdam in the last month. 

In February, the TikToker kept her followers updated when the cruise, operated by Royal Caribbean, was faced with making a significant itinerary change due to unrest in the Middle East. 

At the time, the cruise line confirmed to PEOPLE that it was going to cancel the nine-month voyage’s original itinerary through the Red Sea and Suez Canal in May to keep its passengers and crew members safe. Cruisers were then presented with two alternative itineraries that Dr. Jenny explained in another TikTok .

"We are going to Dubai. We also are going to Africa. We are gonna go all the way around the tip of South Africa,” she said. “The itinerary is not finalized; we actually have two options. One, they're calling the 'Scenic Route' — it does more of Africa. And the other is what they call the 'Highway,' which is a lot of sea days and does less stops in Africa."

She also shared footage from the cruise's town hall meeting and explained that cruisers have the option to vote on what type of route they want to go on. In the end, the “scenic route” was chosen and cruisers were able to visit more parts of Africa.

The Ultimate World Cruise departed from Miami on Dec. 10 and will return to the same port when it comes to an end on Sept. 10. It cruises for 274 nights and hits 160 total destinations, including eight world wonders, according to the official website .

Consisting of four segments — the Ultimate Americas Cruise, the Ultimate Asia Pacific Cruise, the Ultimate Africa and Southern Europe Cruise, and the Ultimate Europe and Beyond Cruise — the voyage is currently on its last leg and making its way through Norway.

Carnival, Royal Caribbean and more change cruise itineraries amid Hurricane Ernesto

Cruise lines are changing itineraries in an effort to avoid Hurricane Ernesto . The storm brought heavy rain and wind to Puerto Rico Wednesday, leaving close to half the island without power and prompting flash flood warnings. The Virgin Islands also felt the impacts.

Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Pride ship, which left from Baltimore for a Bermuda cruise on Sunday, moved its visit to the island up by one day, arriving on Tuesday and leaving on Thursday, the cruise line said.

Carnival Magic skipped a planned stop in San Juan on Wednesday and will make an additional stop in Nassau in the Bahamas on Friday. The ship left Miami on Sunday for an Eastern Caribbean cruise.

“As the safety of our guests and crew is our priority, we will continue to watch the storm and factor in guidance from the National Hurricane Center, U.S. Coast Guard and the local port authorities to provide timely updates as more information becomes available,” the cruise line said in a news release .

Norwegian Cruise Line rerouted Eastern Caribbean cruises on its Norwegian Sky and Norwegian Breakaway ships to the Western Caribbean, according to a spokesperson. The ships departed from Miami on Monday and Sunday, respectively.

Their new itineraries include Roatan in Honduras, Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico and Harvest Caye in Belize (Sky will also stop in Grand Cayman and Ocho Rios in Jamaica).

Norwegian Joy , which left for a Bermuda cruise from New York on Sunday, arrived at the island on Tuesday, one day ahead of schedule. While the ship will spend two nights at the Royal Naval Dockyard as planned, it will depart Thursday, a day earlier than planned.

“The safety and security of our guests, crew and the communities we visit is a top priority,” a spokesperson said in an emailed statement.

Royal Caribbean International’s Rhapsody of the Seas will make planned stops on its Southern Caribbean cruise in a different order, but no ports were canceled, according to a spokesperson for the line’s parent company, Royal Caribbean Group . The ship departed from San Juan on Sunday.

Icon of the Seas , which departed from Miami on Saturday, is sailing a Western Caribbean itinerary rather than an Eastern Caribbean cruise as planned. Stops include Cozumel, Costa Maya and Roatan. 

Symphony of the Seas, which left from Bayonne, New Jersey , for an Eastern Caribbean cruise on Friday, will also visit Nassau rather than Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic.

Jay Leno talks about his restored Chrysler Turbine at the Woodward Dream Cruise

Pontiac — The Woodward Dream Cruise is where people from all over North America bring their unique automobiles: classic milk trucks, 1,500-horspower dragsters, Batmobiles.

This year, Jay Leno brought his rare Chrysler Turbine car.

The comedian was at the corner of Woodward Avenue and Saginaw Street on Saturday afternoon doing what all Cruisers do: meeting fellow gearheads, taking pictures and talking about his latest find. Dressed in his signature jeans, the Hollywood celebrity feels more at home at the Cruise than at the ritzy Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in California this weekend.

“If you to California, you meet one guy with a hundred cars. Here you meet 100 guys who each own one car,” Leno said in an interview. “And, for a lot of them, it’s a car they bought before they got married and it’s been sitting in the garage and they are waiting for the kids to graduate from college so they can finish the project they started in high school. I love that part of it.”

Leno’s latest project is the root beer-colored 1963 Turbine, a car that he first saw as a kid at the 1964 World’s Fair in New York.

“I grew up at a time when people said: ‘By the time you’re adults, cars will fly and you won’t have to eat a meal and take a pill and we’ll all wear silver suits that never get dirty,” Leno said, getting animated. “Kennedy was saying we could have a man on the moon — GET OUTTA HERE! — and have jet cars — GET OUTTA HERE! — and both of those things came true. It was an era when there was nothing America couldn’t do.”

Chrysler built 55 of the Turbines — all painted Turbine Bronze — in 1963-64, the pinnacle of a turbine engine program that had begun after World War II. Eventually destroying all but nine, Chrysler held on to two. Six of them are in museums, and Leno owns one.

“I managed to get one that ran,” said the comedian. “I was driving one day and — XXXXHT! — the engine just melted down. I called Chrysler, but the (turbine program) guys there were all retired.”

Well, sort of.

Leno knew that one of the original Chrysler turbine engineers was Sam Williams (1921-2009), a genius engineer who went on to found Pontiac-based Williams International, a world-renowned jet engine manufacturer. Williams' son Gregg is the current CEO.

“I knew the Williams connection, so I contacted Gregg because I knew his dad’s connection to the car,” said Leno. “They gave us a clean room and found 60 guys from the original Chrysler team — all over the age of 80. It looked like the movie “Cocoon” — one guy was 94, sharp as a tack, knew every statistic. We couldn’t have done it without him.”

Williams International got the band back together, and, using modern manufacturing technology like 3D printing, they restored the historic A-831 Turbine engine to life.

“My father, Sam, started his career working for Chrysler in Highland Park — working on a turboprop engine for World War II airplanes,” said Gregg Williams, sitting next to Leno at the Dream Cruise. “And when the war came to an end, they took those engineers and put them to work with this revolutionary thought that they could built a gas-turbine powered car. It was a thought way ahead of its time.”

After Chrysler pulled the plug in the 1960s (and the Indianapolis 500 regulated turbine race engines out of existence), jet turbine cars were shelved. Until Leno came along.

“Instead of throwing out the blueprints, they kept all this stuff,” smiled Leno. “And I come around 50 years later, and (imitating an old codger’s husky voice) — here’s the chance to do it again!

Continued America’s most famous car buff: “Now, to hear it start up — mmmMMMMHHH! — at 22,000 RPM, it’s smooth, quiet. It’s a real testament to what we could do. You realize how much knowledge is there — and it’s lost technology.”

Williams isn’t so sure it’s lost — and that there still may be a future for the turbine-powered car.

In the 1960s, he explained, “The tech just wasn’t there to make it efficient enough to be competitive. With today’s technology and the new super-alloys, we could actually make a hybrid turbine vehicle very efficiently with very low emissions. The beauty of a turbine is you can feed it with just about any fuel — natural gas, hydrogen, renewables, any fuel that burns in oxygen.”

“I’ll run mine on Jet A,” laughed Leno, referring to the fuel that commercial airliners use. “But back in the day when (Chrysler) took it to France, they ran it on Chanel No. 5. When they took it Mexico, they ran it on tequila. So any fuel works. You could put liquor in there.”

An experimental project, the Italian-designed Chrysler Turbine, Leno recounted, was given to 203 drivers in 133 cities for three months apiece to keep a diary. “To this day, I contact people whose dad or mom were on the original program and want to ride in it again.”

Maybe he’ll give them all rides at next year’s Dream Cruise.

“I like Detroit ... it’s not all Ferraris and Lamborghinis,” said Leno. “It's guys with Chevy Novas and Plymouth Furys — stuff you don’t see every day and that’s what’s fun. I like talking with some guy about his Slant-6 Valiant. It’s not worth a lot — but it is to him. And its free! I like Pebble Beach, but it’s $1,500 a ticket.”

How to make the most of 2024 Woodward Dream Cruise: When it starts, where to park, events

On Saturday, about 1 million car enthusiasts will converge upon metro Detroit with the same goal: appreciating sweet rides.

But the festivities don't start Saturday — the Dream Cruise is a weeklong celebration that began in 1995. Car collectors slowly cruise along Woodward Avenue from Ferndale to Pontiac, with plenty of special events along the way. For many, the annual event is a hallmark of the last days of summer, taking place on the third Saturday of every August.

As the annual celebration of automotive history approaches, here is everything you need to know to make the most of it.

Where to park for Dream Cruise

For an event targeted at car enthusiasts, it can be hard to get a car to the area. The 16-mile cruise makes Woodward Avenue partially inaccessible. Attendees should expect to get their steps in while walking from a parking lot to the heart of the car show.

According to the Woodward Dream Cruise's official website , each city along the route will offer public parking.

In Birmingham , cruise-related activities will be within walking distance of the parking decks located downtown, which are free for the first two hours of parking.

In Ferndale , the genesis of the cruise, several public parking lots surround downtown.

In Pontiac , public lots and parking garages dot the map around the downtown area, where the cruise will come to a close amid a slew of other activities.

In Royal Oak , public parking lots within walking distance from Woodward will be available, though in high demand. Additional parking will be available at the Royal Oak Golf Center, Gunn Dyer Park and Upton Park near Coolidge Highway.

Ditch the car, take the bus.

On Saturday, SMART buses will provide a free shuttle service for people hoping to attend the cruise without the stress of finding a parking spot.

To catch a ride, just hop on at any red SMART or FAST stop along Woodward from Ferndale to Pontiac. The free shuttles, which are wheelchair accessible and equipped with bike racks, will be available from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

What to do in Ferndale during Dream Cruise

Ferndale is where the cruise begins, and it is also the home of many free-to-attend Dream Cruise-related events on Friday and Saturday. On both days, there will be live music, along with food and merchandise vendors.

• Ferndale Emergency Vehicle Show: From 1-7 p.m., the emergency vehicle show will showcase all the coolest cars with sirens at the corner of 9 Mile Road and Woodward. At 5:30, the Lights and Sirens cruise parade will begin. The route will coast along 9 Mile then head north to 11 Mile and swing back to 9 Mile.
• Official Woodward Dream Cruise Ribbon Cutting Ceremony: At 5 p.m., see the official kick-off of the Dream Cruise, where community leaders will cut the ribbon on Woodward, immediately followed by the Lights and Sirens parade.
• Mustang Alley: From 10 a.m.-6 p.m., one of the largest car shows of the cruise will feature more than 650 Mustangs in downtown Ferndale. The ponies will stretch from Planavon to Hilton Road along 9 Mile. Mustang owners interested in showcasing their Motown classic can register their vehicle the day of at 10 a.m. until there are no more spaces left.

What to do in Pleasant Ridge during Dream Cruise

• The Ford Bronco Corral: Collectors and enthusiasts of the Ford Bronco will be meeting for the "corral," an annual showcase of the recently remastered Ford classic. The Broncos will meet from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday at Woodward and Oakland Park Boulevard.

What to do in Berkeley during Dream Cruise

• Berkley CruiseFest Parade: On Friday, beginning at 6:30 p.m., nearly 400 cars are registered to drive along in Berkley's annual Dream Cruise parade. The parade will travel west down 12 Mile Road from Woodward to Greenfield. Following the parade, there will be live music and movie screenings in downtown Berkeley.

What to do in Royal Oak during Dream Cruise

• Performance Park Classic Car Show: From noon-7 p.m., this classic car show will feature vehicles from way back, showcasing automotive history. It will be held at East 13 Mile Road and Woodward.
• Cruise In Shoes 5k Run : At Shrine High School in Royal Oak (3500 West 13 Mile Road) the annual Cruise In Shoes 5K will take place from 8-9:30 a.m.
• Performance Park Classic Car Show: From 8 a.m. -8 p.m., the classic car show will continue in Royal Oak at East 13 Mile Road and Woodward.
• Mustang Unleashed: At the Belle Tire on 13 Mile and Woodward, Ford will showcase its hallmark vehicle, the Mustang, for fans. The event will take place from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
• Ford Performance Lineup Display: At Duggan’s Irish Pub at 31501 Woodward, Ford will showcase performance vehicles from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
• Ford Model e Lineup Display: Ford's electric vehicle lineup will be on display at the Vitamin Shoppe at 31753 Woodward from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

What to do in Birmingham during Dream Cruise

• Birmingham Cruise: From 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Birmingham will host its own car parade featuring classic cars. The route will follow along South Old Woodward Avenue from Maple to Lincoln, followed by a stationary car show for attendees to get a closer look.
• Cars, Cigars and Big Ash: Hosted by Wild Bill's Tobacco, the event celebrates classic cars and premium tobacco. The ticketed event will be held at the Birmingham Village Players Lot on 34660 Woodward Ave. It will take place from 5-10 p.m. Friday and will continue from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday. There will be live entertainment, a full-service bar and an outdoor lounge where attendees can watch the cruise roll by. To purchase tickets, visit the Wild Bill's website here .

What to do in Pontiac during Dream Cruise

• Corvettes on Woodward: On Wednesday, from noon-7:30 p.m., Michigan's largest Corvette gathering will meet at the M1 Concourse in Pontiac for an annual charity event. As is tradition for the enthusiasts, they will assemble an American flag of red, white and blue Corvettes. This event requires tickets, and nearby parking will be included with a ticket purchase.

Friday and Saturday:

• Woodward Dream Show: On Friday and Saturday, Pontiac's M1 concourse will go back in time to 1964 in celebration of the hometown classic Pontiac GTO's 60th "birthday." The event, hosted from noon-10:30 p.m. on Friday and again from 10 a.m.-10:30 p.m. on Saturday, aims to immerse attendees in the culture of 1964, with Beatles, Beach Boys and Motown cover bands and throwback fashion. The City of Pontiac officially declared Friday, Aug. 16, as Pontiac GTO Day to celebrate the classic muscle car. The first 500 kids through the gate at the concourse will receive a free Hot Wheels GTO, and the space will be equipped with food trucks and activities. Tickets are available here .
