They can’t wait to return stateside for their first official U.S. tour since 2018, either.

“This is going to be so special; it’s been too long, sailors,” they shared on Instagram . “Can’t wait to see all your gorgeous faces and celebrate the era of GLORIA together.”

And if you can’t wait to hear Smith’s new music as well as classic tracks like “Stay With Me” and “Latch,” tickets can be secured as early as today.

Sam Smith new music

As noted earlier, Smith is releasing their latest album, “Gloria,” on Jan. 27, 2023.

Although not much is known about “Gloria,” it’s lead single, “Unholy,” featuring Kim Petras, proved to be a smash in 2022.

The song spent three weeks atop the Billboard Top 100 chart and was deemed the “ultimate party anthem” by Esquire ,

You can check out the spicy music video below.

The record will be Smith’s first since 2020’s “Love Goes,” which featured collaborations with Burna Boy, Demi Lovato and Calvin Harris.

Sam Smith opening act

Joining Smith on all but one of their tour dates is 31-year-old budding pop superstar Jessie Reyez.

For those not familiar with Reyez’s music, she’s set to appear on Smith’s forthcoming album but has also made a splash of her own with mega singles “Promises,” “Figures,” and “Imported.”

Her 2022 record “Yessie” covers heavy topics too — “heartbreak, confidence and knowing your worth” are all significant themes touched upon in the music, according to Complex .

You can listen to the 11-track album here .

Sam Smith, centre, and the Gloria tour dancers at the O2 Arena last week.

Sam Smith review – some genuinely moving moments

O2 Arena, London Smith trades unrequited love for lustful liberation in a maximalist show with an Elton-meets-Lizzo energy – and the occasional sorrowful pause

A giant golden statue of the goddess Aphrodite lies recumbent on the stage. The action of Sam Smith’s gig plays out atop, along and in front of her body; musicians nestle in her nooks, dancers dry hump her curves. The suggestion seems to be that we are all her creatures – inspired by beauty, buffeted by desire, perpetually seeking love.

Although a Greek deity is the show’s organising principle – its three chapters are labelled Love, Beauty and Sex – you wouldn’t necessarily call all the antics that unfold over the next couple of hours classic, exactly. So much about this Gloria tour, in support of Smith’s recent album of the same name , is gaudy, over the top and maximalist – as you would expect from an arena-level undertaking – not to mention playful, knowing and redolent of Spinal Tap’s taste for set design. For Gloria, Smith has sloughed off their middle-of-the-road image in favour of something more liberated – and sexualised.

That said, 90% of Smith’s set does not, in fact, take place in any sort of depraved, low-rent Bacchanal – contrary to the online static that the Gloria tour has generated recently, suggesting the whole endeavour is a vehicle for the corruption of minors, and laced with satanic intent . You don’t want to give these spurious arguments undue weight, but really, much of the action tonight actually salutes the soulful heartbreak of Smith’s back catalogue in a way that plays considerately to the sorts of pearl-wearing fans who might one day turn up toting wicker hampers to see Smith at a stately home outdoor gig. The one use of the word “shit” – on Unholy , the abiding theme of the latter section of the show – is even censored by a ding. Gently, the set list ramps up to the climax of what Smith calls their “gay cabaret”. The 10% of the show that does get a little fishnet-y and pitchforked is small beer compared to Madonna at her most rampant, or Rihanna at her most light-S&M, or, indeed, Lil Nas X at his most outre . In between are some poignant and graceful moments that show considerable class. When you do cringe tonight, it is often because of the needlessly effulgent guitar solos, and the somewhat laboured contrasts between the sacred (the title track’s chorale , a Virgin Mary veil) and the profane (gaffer-taped nipples, Mephistophelean garb).

The distant past needs attending to first. Tonight’s introductory section promptly does away with a number of Smith’s career-making hits – the likes of Stay With Me and I’m Not the Only One – that established unrequited love as Smith’s favoured emotional terrain.

Sam Smith dressed as a demon

Between songs, a chatty, warm Smith recalls seeing Rihanna here at the O2 as a kid – “with my umbrella!” – and urges any younger people in the audience to follow their dreams. For this section, they’re wearing what appears to be the lovechild of a chandelier and a bustier accessorised with gold stack-heeled boots, a rococo-glam combo that would not cause the V&A to blanch in any way. Many costume changes follow. Act I (Love) brings more heartbreak, leavened by righteous kiss-offs to toxic exes. Perfect , from Gloria , provides a welcome shot of slow-burning R&B; one of Smith’s backing vocalists takes the Canadian pop singer Jessie Reyez’s parts. So far, so arena pop. Uptempo beats make a nice change from the mournful and piano-led past.

The first emotional high point, though, comes when Smith comes back clad in a magnificent green Valentino gown so sumptuous you wonder whether anyone is hiding under it, as the singer Kim Petras was during the duo’s SNL performance . When you manage to read it, Smith’s halo-like headpiece spells out the name of Brianna Ghey , the transgender teenager stabbed to death in a Warrington park in February. As Smith’s sorrowful voice husks tenderly over a discreet piano backing – the song is a cover, Kissing You by Des’ree – your gooseflesh stands to attention.

Very different, but also very moving, is another cover sequence in which Smith does not sing at all, but takes their place in front of the six dancers. As Donna Summer’s I Feel Love plays out, Smith leads the troupe in a sequence where six sets of arms echo their snaking movements: it’s minimal, and unexpectedly affecting. Having removed their shirt, it becomes apparent that this tour is not just about unapologetic sexuality, it is also about body positivity: the optics are very much Elton John meets Lizzo. Smith’s sense of liberation is physically enacted throughout the night by dancers executing especially fluid leaps.

Sam Smith at the O2 Arena, wearing a headpiece bearing the name of murdered teenager Brianna Ghey.

As the songs begin to take a turn for the frisky, Smith’s voice – so well known for communicating heartache – subtly changes gear. Gimme may be dominated by Reyez’s nagging chant of “gimme, gimme, gimme what I want”, and Koffee’s perhaps tokenistic dancehall verse (those parts aren’t live). But there’s a pained lustfulness in Smith’s contributions that reaches to the back of the hall.

As Unholy’s infamous operatics ring out, we get to see Smith’s bare glutes jiggle about. There’s lashings of stage fire, and Smith closes the show dressed as a burlesque Beelzebub with a tricorn hat and pitchfork. The effect is more absurd than civilisation-shaking. Smith comes out of it with their reputation as a progressive LGBTQ+ figure considerably enhanced by the brouhaha. And Aphrodite has been handsomely served.

English R&B pop sensation Sam Smith (born 19 May 1992) rose to fame before his first proper release. Smith provided vocals for the electronic duo Disclosure’s extremely successful single “Latch” but later came into his own with his critically and commercially acclaimed solo release “Lay Me Down”.

Smith would go on to make another guest appearance, which would prove important to his career. He showed up on Naughty Boy’s single “La La La”. This track rose all the way to number 1 on the UK Singles Chart in 2013. The same year Smith put out his first EP, which was entitled “Nirvana”. The EP contained an acoustic version of Disclosure’s “Latch” as well as “Together”, which was another Disclosure related effort and also a work containing a contribution from Nile Rogers of the disco group Chic.

This EP was followed by Smith’s much anticipated full length album “In the Lonely Hour”. This album contains the immensely popular hit “Money on My Mind” and Smith’s most successful single to date “Stay With Me”. The latter song has made it into the top 10 single charts in 12 different countries including a number 1 spot in the UK and a number 2 spot on the US Billboard’s Hot 100. Smith has performed this song on several television shows including Saturday Night Live, Good Morning America and on the David Letterman show alongside Mary J. Blige. Blige also appears on an alternative version of the single. This single has also been herald by many other performing artists and has been covered by Chris Brown, Charli XCX, FKA Twigs and even Vin Diesel. In promotion for “In the Lonely Hour” Smith embarked on a American headlining tour in the Spring of 2014, playing to multiple sold-out venues.

Apart from being third cousins to Lilly Allen, Smith had a musically rich childhood. He honed in on his singing and songwriting skills under the instruction of British Jazz pianist/songwriter Joanna Eden and attended the Youth Music Theatre UK, starring in their production of “Oh! Carol”. While Smith was a student at St. Mary’s Catholic School he was a part of the Bishop’s Stortford Junior Operatics and also strengthened his vocal skills in the Cantate Youth Choir. Despite Smith’s classical style voice training he gravitated towards the music of R&B legends Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Amy Winehouse and mega pop stars such as Beyonce and Lady Gaga. The influence of emotive soul and pop balladry remain an integral part of Smith’s style.

Live reviews

Sam Smith; the guy with the BEST male vocals in the UK right now Well what can i say. I have every respect and love in the world for this guy. For starters, the presence he brings to the stage just as he walks on, before he’s even began to sing. The crowds cheer and arms in the air just shows what he means to all. So, some may say that it wasn’t necessarily the gig they bought tickets for considering that we only found out there and then that it was all going to be streamed live everywhere, but he definitely brought it home with what i would say was an 11/10 performance. His passion shines through in each and every song and you just don’t want the night to end and stop his soothing voice. You know how it is after a concert the come down is the worst part especially after any performance like that. I must mention the support act ‘Richie and the Remedy’ who were amazing also. I’d never heard of them before but the voice that Richie Skint carries and the picking skills that Harvey Lee showed definitely left me wondering when they’re next performing and fingers crossed it’s near me! Definitely a band that should be shouted about more. Everyone likes to think that the artist up there on stage gave them a little look out of the 100s of people surrounding them but Sam Smith never failed to cover the entire audience and give his cheeky little smile. I’ve seen him perform before, once with ‘Disclosure’ and once with, local lad for me, ‘Naughty Boy’. Again just an amazing show and to see him go from roughly a 3 minute performance to a whole performance dedicated for him is such an awesome thing to witness.I knew that i had to get the tickets as soon as i found out about the gig but back then he wasn’t so well known and most definitely became known at the perfect time for this gig. I think credit where credit is due and that’s down to ‘Disclosure’ for finding this hidden gem in the midst of the music industry today thanks to his exceptional track ‘Lay Me Down’. Also a thanks should go to ‘Naughty Boy’ for featuring Sam on his track ‘La La La’ which ultimately broke him through the final barriers of the music industry. One of the best things about the night was the little surprises he had lined up for us. Out of nowhere comes Jessie Ware to join him in 'Leave Your Lover'. With a voice like an angel, together they had the place stunned. Another of the surprises, a bit later on, brought out Howard from Disclosure to play 'Make It To Me' on the keys. The amount of talent the artists and bands seem have these days never ceases to amaze me.

So what a talent, and from his personal experiences have come the most stunning tracks i’ve heard and it’s amazing how his voice and compositions make you share his feelings and it almost makes you feel as though you know him. I must admit i’ve shed a tear to many of his songs and i’m not ashamed to say! What a thanks to Sam Smith and all the success is wished to him by everyone i can imagine. If you ever get the chance, even if you’ve seen him before, go and see him for yourself and I can promise you that you won't regret it. By Amba Pattison

First of March I went to see Sam Smith at Forest National, Brussels. I really liked Sam his way of performing and his voice has a great sound, although I have some things to say that made this concert experience a bit less enjoying as I thought it would be.

Sam had a few minor slips (for example a very few high/low notes or endings), but you can definitely hear that he has a beautiful voice. Him not singing the phrase 'money on my mind' the whole song, but letting the crowd do it, did let me down a bit. I didn't hear all this qualities of singing here. He is an enthusiast and open hearted with the crowd, which does give a good vibe. I like his way of performing! And the back up vocals were beautiful as well.

I was negatively surprised about the quality of acoustics at Forest National, it was terrible. I couldn't hear whatever Sam was singing for like 65% of his songs. Also, the possibility to park here is horrible, so they promote you to come with public transport. But, at the end of the concert, you are lucky to get back where you came from. Everyone is trying to get on that bus or tram, again, terrible. Really. We walked for at least 4 stopt, to be able to hop on another tram that went to Brussels Midi.

I saw Sam Smith at U Street Music Hall and I fell in love with his music all over again. The concert took place before his debut album was released so we weren't sure what to expect. Most of the songs he performed that night were from his new album. No one knew the words to the songs but EVERY song he performed was AMAZING! His voice was PERFECT! Sam Smith has a beautiful and soulful voice. His voice is so pure. I absolutely love this guy. I have not loved an artist like this since Adele. He really is the male version of the Adele, which is an incredible compliment. I want him to do well in music since, according to his Twitter bio, he singe for his supper (teehee). However, I don't ever want him to turn his back on small venues.

I don't have a single complaint. I'm going to another one of his concerts later this year, the venue is bigger but it's not a stadium so hopefully it won't take away from the intimacy of the show.

After the show was over, we chanted his name and he came back and gave us an encore performance. If you have a chance to go see him, you absolutely should. He is a truly talented vocalist and writer.

Where do I begin with Sam Smith? Do I start with the gorgeous stage presentation or the flawless blend of his background vocalists? Maybe with his grand entrance and flawless vocals?

I think I'll start with Sam, the person. From the moment he walked on stage, he was gracious, humble, and genuinely thrilled that we were all there to see him and even more honored by the screaming and cheering that pervaded his ears. There are not enough adjectives to adequately describe how flawless and enrapturing his performance was! Every note, every run, was perfectly in tune and blew me away. It was like listening to his album…except better! I have know that everyone else in the audience was just as in awe as I was. We were in the presence of musical greatness and I have no doubt that Sam Smith is going to be on the forefront of music for a long time to come! I'm already waiting by my computer hoping that Songkick will tell me that he's coming back to my town.

This concert was absolutely amazing!

First Kwabs came on stage and made a good start, with his famous song "Walk" where the audience started dancing.

But when Sam Smith came on stage, the audience exploded! With his strong, unique voice he brought us to smiles and tears. He did some danceable songs, and asked to sing with him, like in the songs "Like I can", "La la la" and "Money on my mind". He talked about the stories behind the songs, his past and his homosexuality.

Although the beginning was great, the best part still had to come. That's the moment when he starts singing his ballads en slower songs, with his powerfull voice. My personally favorite was the accoustic version of "Latch", but also "Leave your lover" and "Lay me down" were incredible!

And of course the show ended with a great version of "Stay with me", when everyone sung as hard as they could.

A day never to forget, and I'll be there when he comes back to Belgium!

This was the best concert I have seen to date! You see the last time I saw a show coming to town I got "scalped" really bad on my tickets. So in laymen's terms, I actually got ripped off really badly for tickets. I paid so much for really bad seats. But this time at the Sam Smith Concert, Songkick got me direct with the original seller, and I was able to buy the tickets of my dreams with my favorite artist of all time! I was right there in the front listening to Sam Smith sing all of the songs from his amazing album, and was also able to listen to his amazing story and personal experiences connected to his truly personal and meaningful music. It was truly and experience of a lifetime, Sam Smith or Songkick did not dissappoint. It was an amazing night with an amazing performer, and I will never forget that night.

This concert was absolutely amazing! His voice was so angelic and he was so genuine and humble. Every time he smiled it melted my heart because you could tell how grateful he was and how much he loves his life and it was just so beautiful! Everyone was there to just have a good time and everyone was singing along and it was such an incredible environment. One of the best moments was when someone from the crowd threw a rainbow flag on the stage during his song “HIM” and he took it a waved it around while everyone cheered in support of gay rights, it was so amazing. He is so inspiring and honestly my favorite artist. This was hands down the best concert I’ve ever been to, and I never wanted it to end. One of the best nights of my life.

One of the best shows I’ve ever been to, so emotional and it still a happy show. When he played we could feel everything he was singing about, we felt his emotions. The whole concert was amazing, the opening show (Lewis Capaldi) was really good, love his voice and the songs he played. What I loved most about Sam Smith was the simplicity of his concert, there was no need for an elaborated scene, we’re there to see him and his singing, not a big show with a lot of dancing and decorations (not saying concerts who have that are bad, I actually really like them, what I mean is that he doesn’t need that to be great). Also, the decorations were so cool and amazing, and his speeches were simply beautiful and powerful LOVE IS LOVE!❤️

Sam Smith was my first ever concert I've attended and let me tell you I was not disappointed in the least.

Not only is his voice even better live than it is on his album, but he is also the most down to earth, honest, and adorable person ever.

Throughout the concert he kept taking time out to talk about his songs and the meaning behind them as well. Due to it being my first concert I don't know if this is a normal thing, but Sam also thanked the crowd after every song which I thought was incredibly endearing and made you feel genuinely appreciated for coming to see him.

Overall I can say it was one of the best nights of my life and will 100% be getting tickets the next time he's in town.

Everything about the show was amazing, ypu touch everyone in the auditorium. The songs you decided to sing were excellent and the feeling you put to every song you showed it in your eyes. After every song you smiled to the public and that made us more excited to be there and sometimes put tiers of excitement in our eyes. We could all related to your songs in different ways. You are an inspiration to me. I'm so happy I got the opportunity to see you after the show and get your autograph in my ticket and sweatshirt. That night it's going to be unforgettable for every person that was there that night and the night before. Hope I have the opportunity to see you again here in Mexico City.

Sam Smith has announced details of a huge tour of the UK and Europe for 2023 in support of their fourth album, Gloria .

The British pop star will head out on a trek across UK and European arenas in April, kicking off the dates in Sheffield on April 12. The tour will then run to the end of May, when it will wrap up back in the UK at Manchester’s AO Arena.

Tickets for the Gloria tour will go on general sale at 10am BST on October 27, while a pre-sale will open at 10am BST on October 25. Fans can gain access to the pre-sale by pre-ordering Gloria on any format from the Sam Smith store before 4pm BST on October 24, which will secure them an exclusive ticket pre-sale code for the tour.

The tour follows two sold-out headline shows at London’s Royal Albert Hall , which will take place this weekend (October 21, 22). The second date will be streamed live on TikTok from 8:30pm tomorrow via Smith’s account.

Smith confirmed the release of Gloria earlier this week (October 17), with the album set to arrive on January 27, 2023, via Capitol Records. Made with longtime collaborators Jimmy Napes, Stargate, and Max Martin stablemate ILYA,  Gloria  is not only a creative revelation but something of a personal revolution for the celebrated artist. Lyrically, the subjects dive deep and wide, into contemporary narratives around sex, lies, passion, self-expression, and imperfection.

The record will feature Smith’s recent global smash “Unholy,” which features Kim Petras . The single has already captured the No.1 spot on three Billboard charts–Global 200, Streaming Songs, and Digital Song Sales–and topped the U.S. Shazam chart, as well as racking up over 300 million combined global streams. In the UK, it has spent three consecutive weeks at No.1 on the UK Official Singles Chart.

Sam Smith breaks down in tears on stage during opening night of world tour

Sam Smith breaks down in tears on stage during opening night of world tour

The too good at goodbye singer broke down as they open their world tour last night, with sam smith thanking fans for all their support.

Katherine Sidnell

Sam Smith broke down in tears as they began their first world tour in five years last night.

During the emotional opening act, the Dancing with a Stranger singer thanked fans for their support in recent years.

As they took to the stage in Sheffield, Smith lovingly told fans that they would ‘sing for you every night’ as a thank you.

It’s been an intense few years for the musician, who recently gained their eighth number-one with the single Unholy – which also featured trans singer Kim Petras.

Although the track broke records across the world and even won a Grammy award, both artists were criticised for the anthem’s LGBTQ+ themes.

It had been Smith’s first release in two years and the star came under fire for appearing in increasingly gender-fluid costumes as they promoted the track, despite coming out as non-binary in 2019.

At the time, Smith spoke about the difficulties they’d experienced as a young person and revealed that they would be using they/them pronouns going forward.

In a heartbreaking post on Instagram, Smith admitted to fans that they spent ‘a lifetime being war’ with their gender before finally embracing who they are ‘inside and out’.

Sam performed in Sheffield last night.

Whilst Smith has become more comfortable with their gender and even became the first openly non-binary star to win a Grammy, the Too Good at Goodbyes singer still wanted to thank their fans for all their support.

As they took to the stage last night, the Brit award winner gave an emotional speech about the last few years and even broke down as they spoke.

Dressed in a stunning corset, they said: "I just want to say thank you so much for being with me through these crazy times, it means the world to me. As long as you are happy, I will sing for you every night.”

Fighting back the tears, they continued: “Thank you for being here. Tonight is my chance to give as much energy to you to give you a good time. This show is about love and a show about freedom. It is so important to me that you all look to your left and right and say hello to everyone near you.”

Smith took time out to meet with fans after the gig.

The singer then stressed that the concert would be an LGBTQ+-friendly space, where fans could feel comfortable just being themselves.

“This is a safe space and you can do whatever you want. I want you to have fun, and nothing can go wrong. I love you all. thank you for being here."

After the sell-out concert had finished, Sam even went outside to meet with fans before embarking on the next leg of the Gloria tour.

Red Square & Moscow City Tour

Description

Highlights:.

  • Experience medieval Kitay Gorod (China town).
  • Wander picturesque Red Square and Alexander Garden.
  • Explore grand Christ the Savior Cathedral on our Red Square tour.
  • Breathtaking panoramic views from Patriarch bridge.
  • Enjoy a hearty lunch on the large open verandah and marvel at the stunning views of the Kremlin.
  • Learn about Russian culture from the local through relaxed cultural discussions.

Tour Itinerary:

Red square:.

Russia and Moscow are synonymous with Red Square and the Kremlin and that's hardly surprising as you'll find these places absolutely stunning!

  • - Walk-through the Resurrection Gate and don’t forget to flip a coin so you’ll be sure to come back one day!
  • - Visit the world's famous Kazan Cathedral .
  • - See the State Department Store (GUM), once the Upper Trading Stalls, which were built over a century ago and still operating!
  • - Admire the lovely St. Basil's Cathedral! The French diplomat Marquis de Custine commented that it combined "the scales of a golden fish, the enamelled skin of a serpent, the changeful hues of the lizard, the glossy rose and azure of the pigeon's neck" and wondered at "the men who go to worship God in this box of confectionery work".
  • - Walk by Lobnoye Mesto (literally meaning "Execution Place", or "Place of Skulls"), once Ivan the Terrible's stage for religious ceremonies, speeches, and important events.
  • - Entering the Alexander Garden , you’ll take in spectacular views of Russian architecture from ancient to Soviet times, as well as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier with an eternal flame. Watch Changing of the Guard Ceremony every hour in summer and every half an hour in winter.

Kitai-gorod:

Stroll along medieval Kitai-gorod with its strong ancient Russia feel, known for its bohemian lifestyle, markets and arts.

  • - Nikolskaya Street. Here you will find the Russia's first publishing house, the second oldest monastery, and Ferryn Pharmacy, known as the number one pharmacy back in Soviet times and famous for its Empire-style architecture.
  • - Ilinka Street. The financial street of the Kitaigorod (China Town) district, where you’ll find the Gostiny Dvor (Merchant’s Yard), which is now a showroom for Ferraris and Maseratis. The street was designed in the 1790s by Catherine the Great.
  • - Varvarka street. The oldest street in Moscow, which dates back to the 14th century, and still has remnants of early Muscovite architecture, such as the Old English Court and the Palace of the Romanov’s.
  • - Kamergersky Lane. Only a small road of about 250 meters, it is home to some of the oldest artifacts of the city, as each building holds a fascinating story. Some of Russia's most famous writers, poets, and composers from as far back as the Golden Age of Russian culture, have lived or worked on this lane.

Historic City Center

Walk the historical old center of Moscow with its cool local vibe, including the main Tverskaya street , and indulge in desserts in the first grocery “Eliseev's store” , housed in an 18th century neoclassical building, famous for its baroque interior and decoration.

From our tour. Impressions of our American tourist:

At 3:30, as energy flagged, lunch was on the agenda at a Ukrainian restaurant.  Just in time!  We asked our guide to order for us.  We all had the same thing....borscht (the Ukrainian version has beans and more tomatoes than the Russian version, which has more beets and includes beef).

The special high bread served is called galushki.  Our main course was golubtsy...a dish of minced meat rolled in braised cabbage leaves.  Both dishes called for optional sour cream as a topping....of course, yes, please....I recommend it.

Full, satisfied, and completely refreshed, it was off to Red Square and St. Basil's and GUM department store.  Red Square is not so named because of the color of the brick walls of the Kremlin.  Rather the word for 'red' and the word for 'beautiful' are similar in pronunciation....and, there you have it.

As we made the turn by the National Museum in front of which is the mounted sculpture of the "Marshall of Victory," Giorgy Zhukov from WWII and caught our first view of St. Basil's, my friend and I simultaneously emitted "Oooohhhhh!"  There it was....the iconic onion domes of St. Basil's!  Hooray....it was open until 7....we had about 30 minutes and were allowed in, AND we could take photos with no flash.

Now, I can give you a taste of what we saw in the other cathedrals in Cathedral Square.  What we learned is that St. Vasily and St. Basil are one in the same....Russian/English.  He was a common man who wandered Moscow unclothed and barefoot.  But, all, even Ivan the Terrible, heeded his opinions derived from his visions.  Ivan had this cathedral built over his tomb.

As we exited and took photos up close of the onion domes, Inna presented us with chocolate (how did she know we were ready for another energy boost, and we each got a big piece of chocolate.  The baby's name pictured on the wrapper of this famous Russian chocolate is Alyonka....the Russian Gerber baby, don't you think?

One could wear out the credit card in GUM's (capitalized because it is actually a government abbreviation), but the 'kitty' and my credit card stayed in my pocket as we strolled through the glass-topped arcade.

We then strolled through some of Moscow's lovely pedestrian streets; paused to listen as a wonderful quartet performed Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" in an underground passage to cross the busy street (hooray!....we DID have our 'classical concert' experience after all; a request Alina tried in vain to fill because none was scheduled those days), saw the Bolshoi, which means 'big' (my friend has yet to recover that their performance schedule did not coincide with our cruise), saw the Central Telegraph Building, dating from the 1930's, and made our way to the Ritz-Carlton to see the night view of Moscow from the rooftop bar, called O2.

There were fleece blankets to wrap yourself in....yes, it got that cold when the sun set.  We each ordered something hot to drink...the ginger, mint, lemon tea served to me in a parfait glass (for 600 rubles...about $9....you pay for the view here!) was delightful and hit the spot perfectly.  It was time to call it a night....
