Stockton University

Table of contents, residential life tour, housing 2 (a - k).

• A virtual tour of each option is available
• Laundry is free and there are 2 Laundry rooms (A and K building).
• The buildings are co-ed, but the floors are assigned by gender, so there will be all-female floors and all-male floors.
• In Housing 2, there will be 18 people on each floor.
• To make sure that the communal bathrooms stay clean Stockton provides a Cleaning service that comes Monday through Friday.
• They can assist you in a lockout situation or any housing issues.

Housing 3 (L - P)

• Freshman housing only.
• One RA on each floor.
• Floors are separated by gender (all male/all female floor).
• Strictly doubles and reduced rate doubles.
• Has laundry on every floor.
• Has larger common rooms.
• There is a cleaning service that comes in every morning of the school week to clean the hallways and bathrooms.

Housing 1 Apartments

8 courts, A- H court

• Freshmen, Transfer Students, and Upperclassmen live in the courts.
• 4 RAs per court.
• 31 Apartments per court, 5 students per apartment.
• No meal plan is required since students have access to a full kitchen.
• Heating and air conditioning is controlled by you and your roommates.
• Each apartment comes with a cable hook up and free wifi, as well as free Xfinity when connected to Stockton Wifi.
• You only have swipe access to your apartment and into either of the 2 laundry rooms in the courts.
• Laundry is free, there is an app to check availability of washers and dryers.
• Located across Lake Fred.
• A 10 min walk to campus around the lake, trails have blue light system poles and cameras in the trees! Or you can go to a shuttle stop to pick up a shuttle that runs to the main campus!
• There is a tutoring center located in the Lodge and there are computers and printers students can use.
• Students can park their cars in the closely located parking lots. Parking is free.
• Bikes and kayaks are also allowed!

Housing 4 Apartments

8 buildings, Buildings 81-88

• Transfer Students, and Upperclassmen can live here.
• 1 RA per building.
• 8 apartments per building, 4 students per apartment.
• You only have swipe access to your apartment and into the laundry rooms.
• a shuttle stop to pick up a shuttle that runs to the main campus!
• The Lakeside Lodge is located by Housing 1, students can use their meal plan to order items off the grill and subs from Mondo’s, or they can shop in the convenience store and get grab and go items or the daily essentials.

6 Buildings: Ivy, Juniper, Kerria, Laurel, Maple, Nectar

• Reserved for upperclassmen.
• 16 apartments per building.

• Each resident has their own rooms.
• Bathroom in each apartment.
• Newest living option on the Galloway campus.

There's so much to do here and so many opportunities to get involved. From DIY events and ping pong tournaments to career fairs and social justice retreats, Stockton has it all! There are so many different amazing people I have met and so many cool and exciting events I would’ve never had the chance to be a part of had I not been at Stockton. 

I love going to Stockton because of its distinctiveness. The distinction is shown inside of classrooms and residential areas. There's a great professor:student ratio which benefits the student's learning experience. The residential areas are on the clock nearly 24/7 ensuring safety for everyone on campus. We also have tons of free features that many other New Jersey colleges do not provide to their students including: parking, laundry, cable, and Xfinity online service.

Since my first visit here I knew that this was the school for me. Living on campus these past few years has only further exemplified that. Being on campus has created so many opportunities for me to not only get involved in numerous organizations at Stockton but also to form amazing friendships and bonds with so many people I have come in contact with.

Welch tours Estey Organ complex in Brattleboro, home to future affordable housing development

Vermont Business Magazine Senator Peter Welch (D-Vermont), Chair of the Senate Agriculture Committee’s Subcommittee on Rural Development and Energy, toured the Estey Organ Complex in Brattleboro last Friday to discuss an ongoing multi-phase revitalization project to renovate the historic building and create affordable housing. Welch nominated the project for federal funding through the FY25 Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) process. 

“Vermont’s severe housing shortage and affordable housing crisis have left thousands of Vermonters without a safe place to call home. Solving the affordable housing crisis requires innovative solutions like the Estey Organ Complex renovation project. This project is truly a win-win: creating affordable and accessible housing for its residents and restoring a historic building so crucial to Brattleboro’s history. Job creation is also at the cornerstone of this project from beginning to end, creating a variety of high-quality jobs during construction and permanent property management positions once renovations are complete,” said Senator Welch. “I’m excited to watch this project progress and will continue to support efforts that address the housing crisis in Vermont and across the country.” 

The revitalization project will remediate all brownfield and contamination issues related to historic uses of the building, bring the new building up to code and install rooftop solar panels, and create 28 new affordable housing units. The apartments will leverage the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program and will help provide housing to Brattleboro’s growing refugee population.

Listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places, the Estey Organ Complex in Brattleboro, Vermont holds national significance for its role in the production of U.S.-made reed, pipe, and pump organs and its unique architectural character. 

Founded in 1852 by Jacob Estey, the company was one of the world's largest organ manufacturers, employed about 700 people, and sold its high-quality items as far away as Africa, Great Britain, Australia, and New Zealand1. Estey was the largest producer of reed organs in the world in the 19th Century. The company manufactured hundreds of thousands of reed and pipe organs before closing in 1960.

Here’s when you can tour this Utah temple that the LDS Church relocated after community backlash

Dedication date is also set for a building that will be a first for this county..

More than five years — and a whole lot of controversy — after it was first announced, Tooele County’s Latter-day Saint temple is preparing to open its door to the public before its dedication this fall.

The open house for the single-spired, three-story, 70,000-square-foot Deseret Peak Temple will kick off Sept. 26 and last through Oct. 19, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced Monday . The building then will close ahead of a Nov. 10 dedication, after which only faithful members will be permitted to enter its vaulted walls.

The edifice, which was originally proposed for the nearby town of Erda , represents a first for Tooele County.

By comparison, Utah County, home to the church’s premier school, Brigham Young University, has eight existing or planned temples, the most of any county in the Beehive State, followed by Salt Lake County, with six.

The church’s historic temple-building spree has provoked some pushback across the country among neighbors wary of living in the shadow of the massive structures and their cloud-piercing spires.

In most cases, the church has dug in its heels, adamant that such complainers are classic NIMBYs (“not in my backyard”) who fail to recognize the benefits that come with having such a quiet and meticulously groomed neighbor.

Not in the case of the Deseret Peak Temple. The church originally sought to construct the building, then called the Tooele Valley Temple, in rural Erda along with a high-density housing project, but moved the site a few miles down the road to Tooele City after a year of intense debate that left residents with a lot to get over.

Equally rare was the faith’s governing First Presidency’s decision to weigh in publicly , expressing a “sincere desire on the part of the church to avoid discord in the community” and encouraged all people to treat one another with kindness and Christlike love.

Utah is currently home to 20 functioning Latter-day Saint temples: Bountiful, Brigham City, Cedar City, Draper, Jordan River (South Jordan), Layton ( dedicated Sunday ), Logan, Manti (rededicated in April), Monticello, Mount Timpanogos (American Fork), Ogden, Oquirrh Mountain (South Jordan), Orem , Payson, Provo City Center (converted from the former Provo Tabernacle ), Red Cliffs (St. George — dedicated in March ); Saratoga Springs, St. George , Taylorsville and Vernal.

The faith’s most-celebrated temple, the iconic six-spired Salt Lake Temple, in the heart of Utah’s capital, is undergoing a seismic upgrade and extensive renovation. It is expected to reopen in 2026.

The Space Age Provo Temple, meanwhile, is being overhauled. It will be renamed the Provo Rock Canyon Temple.

Besides Deseret Peak, seven more temples — Ephraim, Heber Valley, Lehi , Lindon, Smithfield, Syracuse and West Jordan — are either under construction or in planning stages. When all are completed, Utah will be home to 30 temples of the state’s predominant faith.

There are nearly 200 functioning Latter-day Saint temples worldwide.

For members, these sacred buildings represent nothing short of Houses of the Lord and, unlike their more common meetinghouses, places where devout members participate in their highest religious rites such as eternal marriage.

‘Big Boy,’ the 1.1 million pound train, set to tour US: See its planned stops

D ENVER ( KDVR /NEXSTAR) — Will Union Pacific’s legendary “Big Boy” steam locomotive stop near you during its upcoming tours across much of the U.S.?

One of the world’s largest trains will pass through a number of states this summer and fall, making stops along the way to allow viewers an up-close look at the massive, 1.1-million-pound engine.

According to the Union Pacific Railroad , the train known as Big Boy No. 4010 is the world’s largest operating steam locomotive.

On its website, the railroad company reflects on the history of Big Boys , which started as 25 trains that were 132 feet long and originally weighed 1.2 million pounds. Today, all are out of service, and some are on display – except for one.

Big Boy No. 4014 was delivered to Union Pacific in December 1941 and retired just 20 years later after traveling over a million miles. Thanks to a multi-year restoration process, the railroad company said the train hit the tracks again in 2019 to  celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Transcontinental Railroad’s completion .

Now, the train is up and running and heading through the United States, first on its summer “Westward Bound Tour” from Wyoming (June 30-July 4 and July 23-26) through Utah (July 4-6 and July 19-22), Nevada (July 6-9), California (July 9-14) and Idaho (July 22-23).

After the trip west, Big Boy will embark on an eight-week “ Heartland of America Tour ,” which starts in Wyoming in late August. The train will pass through Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Texas.

Rail buffs can see Big Boy during the following scheduled stops :

• Sunday, Sept. 8:  Rochelle, Illinois  (Chicago metro area)
• Sunday, Oct. 6:  Houston, Texas
• Thursday/Friday, Oct. 10-11:  Fort Worth, Texas

The railroad company said the train plans to only make quick stops, or “whistle stops,” in other states.

In all, Big Boy will have traveled through 14 states in 2024.

They will announce additional stops and approximate times closer to the tour.
