Trip over..now its time to give review of Meilleur Tours & travel who organised our trip... 1. Tour itinerary : Excellentlly designed by Debarati and Anirudhha da. 2. HOTELS: Villa in Pataya was excellent and spacious , though from Villa you can't communicate with Hotel staffs as there is no intercom service in Villa...You actually don't need even. Two Swimming pools are very clean and nice. Hotel room in Grand Mercure Atrium was also awesome in Bangkok. Nice breakfast. 3. Service and guides: This is the main part of your tour if you travel with your family. And in this part Meilleur deserve 5star as when and where required they promptly took action and tried to solved. tour guides and drivers of cars were very cordial, gentle, well behaved. Specially I would like to mention 'Phupho' in jungle safari who is so cute and always smiling face. Lila was also very good. On tour cost: I think Anirudhha da has some special relation with Thailand Govt😍,that only he can offer you the best rates for a lavish tour. Strongly recomend all to contact Meilleur tours for their next trip.

Apurba Panja -

Good cooperation from Meilleur Holidays and made our trip comfortable. Wonderful trip over 10 days 09 nights. Hindu temple visit in Batu cave on the way to Genting Hiland and delicious Dosa in breakfast i ever ate in India. Natural beauty and walk in cloud above 6000ft from sea level in Genting Hiland was charming and one night stay in Genting Hiland with dinner in Malaysian style will made the evening more enjoyable. Next two days and two night in Kuala Lumpur city along with KL and Twin Tower visit was my dream. Sea beauty and Cable car ride through cloud in Langkawi Island along with beauty of city were immemorable. Collection of marine animal and birds in Langkawi aquarium i ever seen. two days and two nights in Langkawi print a idea in our mind that beauty of Malaysia is the concise form of beauty of whole Asia. Rest of 5 days and 4 nights in Singapore gave us opportunity to enjoy the Garden of Bay, Pleasant wind from sea of Santosa Island and collection of Maddame Tassaud museum were unforgettable. No one can realise the international level of collection in Singapore zoo along with animal show and light and sound show technology in Santosa without visit. I enjoyed food in Indian, Western, Japanese and Malaysian preparation in all places. Don't forget to carry a light warm cloth and umbrella for cable car journey in both Genting Highland and Langkawi Island. Currency exchange were little bit of difficult locally in Genting Hiland and Langkawi Island. So, do it in Kuala Lumpur City/Airports. If you want to see any place by your own then you can book taxi through Grab apps. One thing always keep in mind that in Singapore local tourist vehicle operators used to maintain a strict timetable and your drop and pick up vehicle may not be of same number and even may not be of same capacity. If you miss, no need to panic. Book taxi through Zig apps. Automatic technology in Airports must be accepted in our country also.

THINGS TO DO

Places to visit, leh ladakh tour packages.

The summer months between April and June are generally considered to be the best time for a visit in Leh Ladakh . The temperatures range between 5 degrees celsius and 30 degrees celsius, and the warm days are perfect for enjoying the charms of the area.

Adventure sports, such as rafting, biking and hiking are popular during these months, and camping by the lakes is fast becoming a favourite of visitors. The monasteries are easily accessible because of the clear roads, and the monks of historic Hemis Monastery celebrate the Hemis Festival with a lot of pomp.

Monsoon in Ladakh is captivating, with the Indus and the Zanskar rivers swelling up and flowing with fresh vigour. The highlights of a trip during this time are calming visits to the monasteries and food trails across the territory.

The months between October and March turn Ladakh into a winter wonderland, and are the best time to visit Ladakh for activities like ice skating, skiing, and ice hockey. Thrill seekers can choose challenging treks over the frozen rivers. The winter months are also the time for many festivals, and the warmth of the locals make them unforgettable.

Whatever time of the year you choose to visit Ladakh, the trip is sure to be etched in your mind. Let us see what experiences await you in the land!

ANCIENT MONASTERIES

Buddhism dominates Ladakh and countless monasteries dot the hills and valleys of the area. The gompas, meaning ‘solitary places’, are the centers of Buddhism, and act as the place of worship for monks and followers. Oftentimes, the monasteries are built on an elevated point overlooking towns and settlements, and the bright hued prayer flags ruffle in strong contrast to the white washed stupa walls.

Hemis Monastery is the largest monastery in Ladakh, and is situated a little outside Leh. The Hemis Tsechu is an annual festival held in summer, and once in every 12 years, the centuries old painting of Padmasambhava, the Guru to whom the monastery is dedicated, is unfurled. The museum within the monastery houses ancient sculptures and silk paintings, and visitors pick up some souvenirs from the curio shop.

Alchi Monastery is one of the oldest in Ladakh, and a lot of legendary stories surround it. One such tale says that Rinchen Zangpo, a Tibetan translator, built the monastery overnight, and commissioned artists from Kashmir to paint on the walls. Owing to these paintings, the monastery is starkly different from others in Ladakh.

Phutkal monastery in Zanskar is situated on a clifftop, and the primary place of worship is inside a cave. To reach the monastery, visitors have to undertake an arduous journey on foot, but the views throughout the walk are spectacular. It is interesting to notice that Phutkal is one of the few monasteries that is adorned with paintings similar to the style found in Alchi.

Diskit Monastery is in Diskit, the administrative quarter of Nubra valley. The 14th century monastery is the largest and the oldest in the valley, and the massive statue of Maitreya Buddha draws believers in large numbers. The Dosmochey Festival is celebrated with grandeur every winter in Diskit, and makes for a memorable experience.

There are countless other gompas in the territory with Spituk Gompa being the most popular one, and a visit to them is a must on any Leh Ladakh Tour. They form the cultural center of the area and are a great way to connect with the locals and learn about their lifestyles.

ADVENTURE ACTIVITIES

The Ladakh landscape offers unsurpassable opportunities to indulge in exhilarating activities. Soaring peaks, gushing rivers, expanses of frozen lakes, deserts as far as the eye can see- Ladakh is truly a gem ready to be discovered by thrill seekers.

The currents of the Indus and the Zanskar rivers are strong during the monsoon months, and ideal for river rafting. Most stretches along these rivers have currents ranging between grades I and III, meaning even beginners can try their hand at the sport.

The stretch between Upshi and Kharu have grade I and II currents and is especially recommended for first timers. Phey-Nimo, with slightly stronger, grade III currents, meanders by some charming little hamlets and monasteries, and the views from the route are a delight.

The stretch between Chilling and Nimo is a more challenging option, and its grade IV rapids are great for advanced rafters.

The rugged landscape of Ladakh makes mountain biking a thrilling and testing activity, and our Ladakh tour packages usually devote at least a day to it. Longer routes can span as long as two weeks. Cyclists who want to challenge themselves choose the route from Manali to Leh, which involves traversing an arduous 14-day route.

Alternative routes running between Leh and Nubra or Leh and Pangong can be completed in just over a week. However, regardless of the time spent cycling, the experience is sure to leave an indelible mark, and the massive effort that a cyclist puts in is instantly rewarded with the most stunning views of the territory.

Motorbike tours across the territory are a favourite of seasoned riders, and the roads of Ladakh are a test of one’s mettle and skills. Sometimes paved, sometimes unpaved, oftentimes twisting and twirling down mountain sides, the biking routes allow riders to chart an off the beaten track journey across the valley.

Common routes run from Srinagar to Leh, Leh to Pangong, Leh to Nubra and Manali to Leh. These routes pass by scenic villages and quaint monasteries, and involve biking on some of the famous motorable passes of the area.

The peaks and valleys of the region are also an ideal destination for paragliding, and the activity is fast gaining popularity. Khardung La and Leh are the best places to indulge in tandem paragliding, and adventure companies running services offer state of the art experiences.

Camping in Ladakh is an incredible experience which allows one to see the beauty of the sky and the valley without any barriers. A number of campsites have been set up in the territory, and the best ones are situated adjacent to river banks.

A favourite of couples, the campsites allow one to enjoy cracking bonfires under starry skies. With the intimacy it offers, it is no surprise that the activity is a must-add to any Leh Ladakh package for couples.

Ladakh is a paradise for those looking for a more active vacation, and one can really get close to nature here. With a wide range of activities, there is something for everyone to enjoy!

TREKKING TRAILS

The terrain of Ladakh is one of the best in the country to undertake a trek. Most of the treks in the region are organised between May and October. However, the Chadar trek and the Snow Leopard Trek allow one to explore the untouched beauty of the area in the dead of winter.

There are a variety of treks available in the area with varying levels of difficulty. The Sham Valley trek is one of the best routes for beginners. Passing through orchards and monasteries, the 30 kilometer expanse is not very steep to climb. The Indus Valley trek is another easy option, and it lasts for around 8 days.

The route running between Phyang and Hunder follows the historic Silk Route. Acting as the connection between the Indus Valley and the Nubra Valley, the route offers stunning views of the Karakoram Range.

The Rumste-Tsomoriri Trek is an impressive route that offers unmatched views of the landscape. Passing by rough mountains of a variety of sizes and colours, it crosses the picturesque TsoKar and TsoMoriri lakes. The trek is challenging because of its high elevation, and it is important to get acclimatized before attempting it.

Two of the most unique trekking experiences in Ladakh are the Chadar Trek and the Snow leopard Trek. Attempted in the winter months, they are not fit for beginners. The 9 day long Chadar Trek involves trekking long distances over the frozen Zanskar River between massive gorges and passing by frozen waterfalls.

The frozen river is clear and reflects the skies, and every moment of the trek is deeply rewarding with the most surreal sights. The Snow Leopard Trek is undertaken early every year to spot the elusive wild cat in Hemis National Park. The biting cold temperatures make the trek difficult and a lot of patience is required to spot the leopard. The trekkers trek through the Park and the Rumbak Valley, and the route ends at the Indus.

There are countless more trekking routes in Ladakh and each one is better than the other. The raw beauty of the area is best explored on foot, and the sights from the high passes are breathtaking.

Adventure Activities

Built in the 17th century by the Namgyal Dynasty, the Leh Palace was the residence of the royal family of Leh. Throughout its existence, it has seen unrest and wars, and was captured by invaders. However, the palace has managed to retain some of its glory, and draws lots of visitors today. The structure is based on the Potala Palace of Lhasa and overlooks the Stok Kangri range. The views of the town surrounding it are fantastic. The museum within its premises holds interesting artefacts and ancient paintings, and are a delight to explore.

The imposing white structure was built in 1991 to mark 2500 years of Buddhism, and is a part of the Japanese Peace Pagoda Mission to promote world peace. It is situated on the top of a mountain, at a high altitude, and the scenic views from its premises are mesmerizing. It houses ancient relics of Buddha and draws a number of visitors annually.

The war museum was built by the Indian Army to commemorate their historic win over Pakistan in the Kargil War of 1999. Showcasing weapons used in the war, army emblems, and war document archives, the museum has been dedicated to martyrs, whose names have been inscribed in the walls. A 15-kilogram heavy National flag of India was hoisted in its premises to mark the 13th anniversary of the victory.

TOP TOURIST ATTRACTIONS

The trans-border saltwater Pangong Lake is an incredibly scenic Ladakh tourist spot. Because of its sensitive location, it can only be accessed up to a certain extent, but that does not hamper its magnificent charm. The lake is situated a little away from Leh, and it takes a five-hour long drive to reach it. The drive itself is gorgeous, offering mesmerizing views of its surroundings. Only a third of the lake is within the Indian territory; the remaining part is under the control of China.

The lake is a favourite of photographers, and spending a short while by its banks reveals the reason. The clear waters are known to change colours- oftentimes bright blue, sometimes green and sometimes even red, and it is truly wonderful to witness. The only activity allowed in the area is camping by the shores, and one should not miss out on it!

One of the most mysterious places in Ladakh, Magnetic Hill is on the Leh-Kargil highway. The hill is famous for being able to drag stationary cars uphill, and theories say that it is because of its strong magnetic field. The theory is so widespread that planes are known to divert their routes to avoid interruptions. However, the theory has not been proven scientifically.

Shey Monastery - the former summer palace of the King of Ladakh. The Shey Monastery or Gompa and the Shey Palace complex are structures located on a hillock in Shey, 15 kilometres to the south of Leh in Ladakh, northern India on the Leh-Manali road. Shey was the old capital of the upper Ladakh region. When the Dogras of Jammu invaded Ladakh in 1842, the Namgyals abandoned the palace and fled to Stok (they made it their permanent residence) on the opposite side of the Indus River. It is conjectured that the fort found in ruins, not dated, above the present palace at Shey, belonged to this period of invasion. Subsequently, when the political dictates necessitated shifting of the capital to Leh, even then the importance of Shey continued since it was a mandatory requirement of the Namgyal kings to father their heir apparent here.

3 Idiot School - This school is also known as "The Druk White Lotus School" located in Shey, Ladakh, in northern India, and is known locally as the "Druk Padma Karpo School". Karpo means White and Padma means Lotus in the local language Bodhi. The school got its name 3 idiot school after the famous Indian actor Mr. Amir Khan cast his memorable movie 3 idiots here. Post lunch you may visit :

Leh Palace - Leh Palace is a former royal palace overlooking the town of Leh, Ladakh, in the Indian Himalayas. This palace was constructed circa 1600 by Sengge Namgyal. The palace was abandoned when Dogra forces took control of Ladakh in the mid-19th century and forced the royal family to move to Stok Palace. It is nine storeys high, the upper floors accommodated the royal family, while the lower floors held stables and store rooms. Much of the palace is in deteriorated condition, and little survives of its interior decorations. The Palace Museum holds a rich collection of jewellery, ornaments, ceremonial dresses and crowns. Chinese thangka or paintings, which are more than 450 years old, with intricate designs still retain the bright colors derived from crushed and powdered gems and stones. Structures around the palace's base include the prominent Namgyal Stupa, the colourfully muralled Chandazik Gompa and the 1430 Chamba Lhakhang, with medieval mural fragments located between the inner and outer walls. The palace is being restored by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), this palace is open to the public and the roof provides panoramic views of Leh and the surrounding areas.

Guide for Bengali tourists

Generally, you need not to hire a tourist guide unless you are interested in deep history of a particular place/monument/monastery. Our driver will take you to all the places himself. Most of the tourists, especially Indians, do not hire any guide as they can easily communicate with the locals. But, if you want a dedicated guide, you can hire one Hindi or English speaking tourist guide who will explain the history and importance of all the places. As only local Ladakhi drivers are available for sightseeing of Ladakh, he knows the place better than anybody. In case of any problem, the drivers know how to deal with the situation. In our Leh Ladakh tour package from Kolkata, we have best local Ladakhi drivers who work as guides as well.

Language in Ladakh

Generally, Ladakh residents speak Ladakhi and Bhoti language. They also speak Hindi. Some speak Tibetan and Urdu as well. Many people here understand, speak and write good English. The drivers here understand little English and also speak broken-English. But they speak good Hindi. So communication should not be a problem for Hindi speaking tourists from Kolkata (West Bengal).

No one can beat Bengali tourists when it comes to shopping. You can try some shopping in Leh market. Main bazaar is the main shopping area of the city where you can buy all kind of material like dresses, electronics, crockery, variety of souvenirs, Tibetan/Chinese crockery, Pashmina shawls and decorative items. Give a try to the local dry fruits. Ladakhi Chulli (dry apricot) is famous among tourists. Local dresses and ornaments are also available in the market. Buddha sculptures will definitely impress you and are a good option for souvenir. You will find a lot more in the market that you can take back home to gift your family members and friends.

What to carry for Leh Ladakh tour package from Kolkata

If you are coming from Kolkata (or other parts of West Bengal), you need to carry some woollens, good shoes (sports shoes are advisable), sun screen lotion, sunglasses, lip balm, your photo ID (Passport, driving license, AADHAR or Voter Id), inner-line permit, Rohtang pass permit (if coming by road from Manali), cash for shopping and to pay necessary bills and your medicines.

Phone Connectivity in Ladakh

The pre-paid numbers from other states do not work in Ladakh. Only post-paid numbers work here. BSNL and Airtel has the widest coverage. However, BSNL is the leading service provider of Ladakh. BSNL works not only in Leh, Kargil and Nubra but also works at Tso Morori Lake (Korzok), Pangong Lake (Durbuk/Tangste area), Aryan Valley (Dha Bhiyama Hanu area), Zanskar Valley (Padum), Turtuk, Sumur, Sham Valley and most parts between Leh and Taglangla pass. However, Airtel will work in Leh, Kargil and Nubra valley. A large area of Ladakh is still out of mobile phone coverage. However, in most places you will get Satellite Phones (PCOs). Even Sarchu has one such satellite phone PCO booth.

Security in Ladakh

Ladakh is one of the most secure tourist destinations in the country. The region is safe and secure for both Indian and foreigner tourists. All the tourists – Indians and foreigners – are needed to obtain inner line permit (ILP) to visit restricted areas of Ladakh. The permit can be obtained easily from Leh administration at easy terms. Unlike Kashmir valley where turmoil affects the tourism time to time, there is no such unrest in entire Ladakh. In case of unrest in Kashmir, tourists can either come to Leh directly by flight or can come in taxi from Manali side.

LOOKING FOR  LADAKH TOUR PACKAGE FROM KOLKATA IN 2024 HOLIDAYS?

A surreal landscape surrounded by the sky-piercing peaks of the snow-capped Himalayan, Zanskar and Karakoram ranges, and adorned with crystal waters of the Shyok, Zanskar and Indus rivers , Leh, in Jammu and Kashmir, is the main city in the Ladakh region, one of the coldest deserts in the world. Perched at a height of over 11,000 ft above sea level, the city of Leh is a haven of adventure sports. Its rugged terrain and gushing rivers provide ripe opportunities for activities like trekking, river rafting, camping, mountain climbing and biking. As the winter months approach, the city is enveloped in a blanket of snow, making it a paradisiacal setting for winter sports. The renowned Chadar Trek starts from the village of Chilling, 66 km away, and mostly covers the frozen area of River Zanskar. Throughout the adventure, trekkers are walking on precarious icy formations, staying in caves filled with stalactites and stalagmites and encountering other snowy landscape. What is the best time to travel Leh Ladakh?

It is always nice to plan your journey in June to mid – July when the roads to Ladakh are open from both Srinagar as well as Manali sides. In addition to it, this is the time when you find a good amount of snow on the roads, especially June.

However, please keep in mind that road conditions hardly improve on Manali – Leh road and remains almost quite challenging/adventurous throughout the season. It improves towards the end of the season that is September or October but by that time snow is all gone and the risk of road closure increases especially towards the end of October.

So, you need to be prepared for all the adventure that Manali – Leh Highway offers a traveler in June – July and the situation worsens when the monsoon hits Northern Indian in late July and August.

In monsoon/rains, you will need to face challenges almost up to Baralacha La pass with slush on the roads beyond which it becomes a bit dry as you enter the rain shadow region of Ladakh.

IMHO, whatever best window to visit Ladakh you will get so that you avoid monsoons, see/experience snow and all roads are open for you will be like 15th June – 15th July window.

If you want to see beautiful colors of Ladakh, then the second half/late of September is THE best time to visit Leh – Ladakh when these colors are oozing and burning out vividly. Of course, the road conditions get better in late September type when rains reside in the region completely. So always keep extra days in your hand if you have plan for  Ladakh Package Tour from Kolkata in winter .

Leh Ladakh Tour Package from Kolkata

How many days do I need for a Leh Ladakh road trip?

It will take four days to reach Leh from Srinagar Leh Highway starting from Delhi with stopovers at Jammu, Srinagar, Kargil. Then, it takes three days to come back to Delhi from Leh using Manali – Leh Highway with stopovers at Sarchu/Jispa/Keylong & Manali.

This makes it seven days. Then, you need at least one day is required in Leh for acclimatization. So, overall in just eight days, you can cover Manali Leh Highway, Srinagar Leh Highway and Leh town only.

Now, at least three days are required to travel for sightseeing to Nubra Valley and Pangong Tso using the direct route from Shyok village.

So, a total of at least 11-12 days is required to make a road trip to Leh Ladakh that makes some sense.

Phirni is one of the sweet dishes that is made from yak’s milk and rice. The mixture is then flavoured with sugar, cardamon, and saffron. If you have a sweet tooth, Phirni is a must for you!

10. Apricot Products

Irrespective of where you decide to visit during your Ladakh tour packages, you will find apricot products everywhere in the region. Be it apricot jams, apricot chips, dried apricots, or apricot oil, you will find one or the other products in Ladakh. These products are often consumed as primary snacks or served alongside other dishes.

Gur Gur Cha

Tea is something that is synonymous with Indian culture. Even when you are in Ladakh, you will get to taste a unique tea called the gur gur chai. Made from yak butter, this unique tea is blended with salt, tea leaves, and other local spices. Whether young or old, Ladakhis enjoy their guru gur chai whenever they can!

Ladakh Tourism

Ladakh or “The Land of High Passes”, is a remote and mesmerizing region nestled in the lap of the Himalayas. Bestowed with breathtaking landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and unique experiences, this part of India has become a major tourism hub across the world. Surrounded by towering mountains, including the Himalayas and the Karakoram Range, it attracts adventure enthusiasts globally and is considered a hotspot for most adventure activities.

Trekking, mountain biking, river rafting, and jeep safaris are some of the thrilling activities on offer. The challenging terrain and high-altitude treks, like the Markha Valley Trek and the Chadar Trek on the frozen Zanskar River, attract adventure seekers seeking a taste of adrenaline amid serene surroundings.

Showcasing livelier glimpses of the Tibetan culture, Ladakh boasts numerous monasteries and gompas, each with its own history and charm. Hemis Monastery, Thiksey Monastery, and Diskit Monastery are some of the most sacred centres in the region, offering insight into the local way of life and religious practices. Tourists can witness colourful festivals like the Hemis Festival and Losar, where monks perform traditional dances and rituals.

Above all, it’s the warm hospitality of the Ladakhi people that adds more to Ladakh tourism. Over here, the locals are always prepared to welcome their guests with an open heart and smile on their faces. Whether you prefer to stay with them in their homestays or check in at any hotel, they will greet you warmly every time you come across or pass them. They always make it some bucolic that you will feel the comfort and warmth of your home even while away from your home!
