Nothing but amazing experiences with Dr. Jess and staff at Journey Chiropractic! She is thorough, holistic, whole-person focused, and goes above and beyond any chiropractor I've ever been to. I can't recommend her enough!

I came to Dr. Jess from a recommendation, and I would hands down recommend her to anyone else, whether they're searching for a new chiropractor or considering it for the first time! When I leave her office I genuinely feel the difference in my entire body. And I'm thankful she does not only work to manage pain, leaving clients coming back forever, but rather works to correct the issue itself and works towards overall health. Let me start with saying I was scared to death to go to a chiropractor! Fast forward and I have nothing but AMAZING things to say about Dr. Jess and the staff at Journey. Dr. Jess cleared my son's clogged tear duct, fixed my knees and pinched nerves, and continues to be a blessing in our lives. We will continue to go here because she is gentle in her approaches and I fully trust her with my child. If you are questioning going or not- DO IT! You won't regret it.

Dr. Jess and Theresa are so welcoming and kind and make sure that your experience is smooth and enjoyable from start to finish. Dr. Jess is an inspiration for all things health and has so much passion, wisdom and heart for her patients and their overall well being. My entire family has been receiving treatment for awhile now and have all experienced improvements already! Our toddler gets beyond excited when we tell him we're going to get an adjustment. We believe strongly that chiropractic care is vital to our health are so thankful for the care we receive from Journey!

I started seeing Jess around week 26 of my pregnancy as my lower back started hurting pretty significantly. It was affecting my daily life and my job.  Growing up, I have been apprehensive about receiving care from a chiropractor. But I had also never experienced pain like this, so I gave it a chance and started seeing Jess.  Knowing I was a bit hesitant, Jess sent me information about her care, explained the technique she would be using and how gentle it would be, making me feel at ease and comfortable. About 6 weeks later, I was completely relieved of my back pain! But Jess's care, all the appointments, and time with her was so much more than just that. My baby's position is optimal for birth. I am pain free. I was able to continue working out during pregnancy and am still working out at 39 weeks pregnant! I feel fully supported and backed by Jess. Jess has my best interest and supports my specific health goals. Jess has genuinely cared about me, what's going on in my life, and how she can support me the best way possible. I'm so glad our paths crossed. She's been a huge supporter and positive influence in my pregnancy, making it a smoother and more enjoyable experience. AND I now have the pleasure of her being apart of my birth team! My little one and I are in great hands. I highly recommend any pregnant mamas out there to go see Jess, whether you are experiencing pain or not. She can help with the many glamorous symptoms that come with pregnancy, as well as help prep your body for the miraculous birthing process!

Doctor of Chiropractic

Chiropractic discovered me as an undergraduate student looking to find a profession that was truly going to be a passion. I have always loved people and knew that I wanted to do something that made the world and the people around me better so the medical profession was always in my sights. After multiple shadowing experiences the right fit wasn’t immediately obvious. When I was introduced to chiropractic care it completely blew me away. It was so different than any other profession I had shadowed. What really set it apart was both the doctors and the patients were always happy. Patients looked forward to going and every chiropractor seemed to genuinely enjoy what they were doing. Seeing the results and just how far reaching chiropractic care can be, is how I really knew this is what I wanted to do with my life.

I graduated from Life University with my Doctorate of Chiropractic in March, 2021. I grew more and more passionate about serving families and watching them thrive which led me to becoming an expert in pediatric and prenatal care. I am a new mother and enjoy spending time with my family both in and out of the office, as well as weight training and running with our dog Kuzco. I am determined to give an incredible clinical experience by always looking to find the root cause of what’s going on with my patients. I believe that no matter the circumstance every person has the ability to heal and there is nothing more precious than a completely healthy family that is thriving.

Born and raised in Onsted, Michigan, I first experienced chiropractic in high school as an athlete. At first, I wanted to take care of the aches and pains that came from playing sports, but soon I realized the benefits that chiropractic offered and started taking my overall health more seriously. After high school I went to Albion College and played both football and basketball (Go Brits!). After graduating from Albion and seeing what chiropractic care did for my overall health and sports career I decided to enroll in Life University’s Doctor of Chiropractic program in Marietta, Georgia so that I could help others achieve true health. I graduated in 2019, and with Dr. Kirsi, started Journey Chiropractic to help people and their families live happier healthier lives through chiropractic care and wellness!

My name is Alexis! I grew up in Chelsea, MI and recently moved back to Chelsea from Fort Myers, FL! From a young age I loved helping anyone around me. As a teenager I started working in childcare, eventually becoming a Preschool teacher for four years, specializing in infant care for two years as well as one on one care for children on the spectrum. Working first hand with children I have seen how day to day activities can affect the nervous system, which is why I am such an advocate for chiropractic care. Outside of work you can find me on the lake, golfing or spending time with family and friends.

Hi everyone, my name is Paige! I grew up in a super small town, White Pigeon, MI. I currently live in Ann Arbor and am a student at the University of Michigan. Growing up I always knew I wanted to pursue a career in healthcare because I love working with and helping people. This is why I decided to major in neuroscience with plans to attend medical school. However, since starting here my interest in chiropractics has grown. I love seeing how chiropractic care positively impacts people and helps them achieve their goals. 1996 Olympic athlete remembers games, journey to make Team USA

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Ahead of the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, KSHB 41 continues to highlight amazing athletes all across the Kansas City area, including Ed Broxterman, who competed in the high jump in the 1996 Atlanta Games .

Broxterman, now 50, was 22 when he competed.

The Baileyville, Kansas, native grew up a track and field athlete. One day he decided to try the high jump and realized he was pretty good at it.

"Just really quickly went from not doing it to state champion," Broxterman said. "When you’re jumping over a bar really high, you’re hanging in the air for a long time, so it’s probably the closest to flying humans get."

Broxterman remembers the day he qualified in June 1996. He had injured his ankle but was able to push through and jump 7 feet, 6 1/2 inches — his personal best.

"Just remember my insides just feeling like if I don’t calm down they’re going to just blow open; I had that much adrenaline," Broxterman said.

While he didn't medal at the games, Broxterman did bring back some cool memories.

"Opening ceremonies is one of the coolest things to go through as an athlete, especially in your home country," Broxterman said. "They had the lights out and it was a scene of flashing cameras and chanting, 'USA!' And I’ll never forget that moment."

Almost 30 years after he competed, Broxterman still carries around lessons he learned from his time as an Olympic athlete. The most important, in his eyes, is perseverance.

"Even at work, you know things aren’t going your way, but you just kind of, it’s gonna get better; you just gotta keep working," Broxterman said. "Just being able to push your way through all the challenges and the difficulties, and still being able to achieve your goal. I just think that’s it."

Broxterman admitted he may not be in Olympic shape now, but it's always going to be a part of him.

"I don’t want it to be the only thing I'm known for," he said. "It's just a small part of what I'm known for, but yes, it’s always going to be who I am."
