Inside Nicole Kidman's Relationship With Her Kids Bella And Connor Cruise

Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise are the parents of two adopted children, Connor and Isabella "Bella" Cruise. When the couple split, the "Moulin Rogue" actor's relationship with their kids became fractured. She has since moved on with country star Keith Urban and welcomed two girls, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, but there has been much speculation about where things stand with Kidman and her eldest children.

The specifics of their relationship may be vague, but when Kidman speaks about Connor and Bella to the press, there's a lot of love. "Motherhood is about the journey. There are going to be incredible peaks and valleys, whether you are an adopting mother or a birth mother. What a child needs is love," she said in  The Sun  in 2019. She has also made it clear that there is no difference between having adopted or biological children. "It's the emotion of attaching to a child and helping to guide them and rear them [that is important]," she told Tatler in 2018.

They are all grown up, and their mom feels they've turned out well. "They are healthy and sane and together and are great, great people," she told Associated Press (via Daily Mail ) in 2010. "So I'm not one of those people that needs to be reminded of what I have." But that doesn't mean everything has always been perfect. Here's how Nicole Kidman's relationship with Bella and Connor has evolved over the years.

Nicole Kidman adopted her children in in 1992 and 1995

Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise married in 1990. The "Batman Forever" actor knew she wanted to start a family with her husband, but the traditional route was not possible for them. "From the minute Tom and I were married, I wanted to have babies," Kidman told Vanity Fair . "And we lost a baby early on, so that was really very traumatic. And that's when we would adopt [our daughter] Bella."

The Oscar winner has been open about her fertility and miscarriage and how it impacted her experience with motherhood. "I wish I'd had more children, but I wasn't given that choice," she told Marie Claire in 2021. She did become a mom for the first time, thanks to adoption. First to Isabella "Bella" Cruise in 1992 and later to Connor Cruise in 1995. The love the star felt for her children was instant.

"When I held Bella in my arms, that was everything. I look into those eyes, and that crazy love happens — it's crazy love because you'll do anything when you have a child," Kidman told The Independent in a 1998 interview. "It opens up a part of your heart you didn't even know was there." At the same time, Kidman is open to them connecting with their birth parents. "That's part of my belief on adoption," she told E! News in 2016. "If a child wants to find their birth mother, I'm absolutely supportive of that."

Nicole Kidman's divorce from Tom Cruise impacted her children

There was a time when Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise were one of Hollywood's hottest couples. "He swept me off my feet. I fell madly, passionately in love," she told The Sun. And things between them moved quickly. "I was so young. I look back now, and I'm like, 'What?' I had two kids by the time I was 27, and I'd been married for four years. But that's what I wanted," she shared.

But that ended with their divorce in 2001. Following their split, something seemingly shifted in Kidman's relationship with her children."They live with Tom, which was their choice," she said in 2010, per  Hello!  magazine. "I'd love them to live with us, but what can you do?" Kidman and Tom agreed to joint custody of their children, but there's been much speculation about how much time she spends with them. There would be years without photographs of them in public, and there have been reports that Tom has excluded Kidman from special events, like their son's wedding, per Radar . (In 2019, Connor reportedly married Silvia Zanchi, who is a member of the Church of Scientology.) 

The questions about their dynamic were fueled when Kidman accepted an Emmy for Best Actress in a Limited Series in 2017 for her work in "Big Little Lies" and mentioned only her youngest kids in her speech. "I am also a mother and a wife. I have two little girls, Sunny and Faith," she said. "This is yours." 

They stopped calling Nicole Kidman 'mom'

Nicole Kidman has been reluctant to share too much about her relationship with Bella and Connor Cruise, but she has offered some rather telling details over the years. "My kids don't call me mommy, they don't even call me mom," she once told GMTV (via Marie Claire ). "They call me Nicole, which I hate, and tell them off for it."

To make matters worse, Tom Cruise's second wife, Katie Holmes, had previously gushed about her relationship with his and Kidman's kids. She said in a 2007 interview with Parade (via People ), "His first two children [Connor and Isabella] are incredible, really smart and kind. They call me 'Mom.'" In an interview with Vanity Fair in 2006, Holmes also spoke about the teens and their bond with their sister, Suri Cruise. "It's really special to see them [Bella and Connor] holding their little sister," she said. "To hear them talk about all of the fun things they are going to do together." Following Tom and Holmes' divorce, Suri reportedly became estranged from Tom ;  Suri's current relationship with her older siblings  is unclear.

Despite the complex relationship dynamics between Kidman and her children, she has stressed the importance of motherhood — regardless of the circumstances. "My daughter and son, their life is molded by the way I live," she said in a 2007 interview (via People ). "If I wasn't willing to take on that responsibility, I shouldn't have adopted them." 

Nicole Kidman's children are members of the Church of Scientology

Tom Cruise is arguably one of the most famous members of the Church of Scientology, and his older children, Bella and Connor Cruise, have followed in his footsteps. "They are adults," Nicole Kidman said in a 2018 interview with Who magazine. "They are able to make their own decisions. They have made choices to be Scientologists, and as a mother, it's my job to love them." She added that she would continue to accept them because she is their parent. "No matter what your child does, the child has love, and the child has to know there is available love, and I'm open here," she shared.

Actor and former Scientologist Leah Remini has been far less diplomatic about the Kidman-Cruise kids' upbringing. In her 2015 memoir, "Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology," "The King of Queens" star claimed Bella and Connor were kept away from any outside information that, as she put it, "might get them asking questions." Remini also remembered once asking Bella and Connor about spending time with Kidman. According to Remini, Bella allegedly responded, "Not if I have a choice. Our mom is a f***ing SP." "SP" stands for "suppressive person," which is the term the church uses for anyone who they view as an enemy.

Despite this, Kidman is supportive. "I've chosen not to speak publicly about Scientology. I have two children who are Scientologists — Connor and Isabella — and I utterly respect their beliefs," she told The Hollywood Reporter in 2013.

Nicole Kidman wants her relationship with her kids to remain private

Nicole Kidman is one of the biggest stars in the entertainment industry. As such, there will always be an interest in what she does and what happens in her personal life. While she is willing to share some of it with fans, like her fertility issues, there are other aspects she prefers to keep under wraps, like her relationship with her two oldest children. "I'm very private about all that. I have to protect all those relationships," she said in an interview with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association in 2018 (via Hello! magazine ). "I know 150 percent that I would give up my life for my children because it's what my purpose is." Kidman has also made a point of keeping her two youngest children, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, away from the spotlight.

Bella and Connor Cruise seem to be more than fine with leading relatively quiet lives. "[Connor] is DJing, he's doing really well. Bella lives in London now," Kidman said in a 2013 interview with " Extra ." "I think that, you know, everybody has their own path, and when they find their path, it's such relief as a parent, you know?" She has also praised them for who they have become. In a 2014 interview with The Weekly , she said, "They are generous, kind, and hardworking, and these are traits that I love to see in my children."

Nicole Kidman has a deep love for her children

In the interviews Nicole Kidman has given about her children, she has made one thing clear: she loves them. While promoting her film "Lion," which is a story that involves adoption, she told Town & Country , "This movie is a love letter to my children." The 2016 biographical feature, which also stars Dev Patel, follows a young man who spent the bulk of his childhood with adoptive parents and wants to find his biological family. "I relate to that. I feel that for my own children who are adopted," Kidman said. "It's not about anything else other than 'I wanted you.' It's that deep and personal, and whatever your journey is, I'm here to love and support you."

Despite the obvious love she has for Bella and Connor, Kidman has been honest about how parenting can be a challenge. No matter what, she approaches it with openness and offers support. "Parenting is about learning who they are, not making them what you want them to be — letting them find their way then supporting them," she told The Sun. "It's rigorous. You're constantly looking at yourself, so you're not placing these expectations on a child." When asked to name the most difficult thing about being a mother in Vogue's "73 Questions" series, she replied, "Knowing I won't be here forever, so I won't always be here to take care of them."

Bella Cruise moved to London and lives her life mostly out of the spotlight, although she has a public Instagram page and refers to herself as Bella Kidman Cruise. There is much chatter about her bond with her mom, but she set the record straight in a 2012 interview with New Idea magazine (via E! News ). "I love mom. She's my mom. She's great. I see her sometimes, and I speak to her," she said. "We're a very close family. I love all of our family."

In 2015, Bella married Max Parker at the Dorchester Hotel. Neither Nicole Kidman nor Tom Cruise were there. While there was speculation about why Bella's parents skipped out on the wedding, a tipster told the Daily Mail  that they simply wanted to avoid creating a media frenzy. The source also claimed Kidman was involved in the planning process.

The wedding may have excluded Kidman, but Bella's marriage is believed to have opened doors. About a year after the wedding, Bella and Kidman reunited. Connor Cruise says he has a 'solid' relationship with his mom

While they may not be as close as Nicole Kidman would hope, Connor Cruise has said things are good between them. "I love my mum," he said in an interview with Woman's Day in 2014. "I don't care what people say; I know that me and Mum are solid. I love her a lot. My family means everything. Yeah, I love my music, but the family comes before everything else."

His mother sure seems to share these sentiments about family. In an interview with The Weekly, the actor spoke about her children and husband, Keith Urban. "At this stage of my life, and with time being so precious, the joy I get from us as a family outweighs any joy in any other area of my life by far," she said. 

In addition to working as a DJ, Connor is a keen fisherman, golfs from time to time, and enjoys barbecuing meat. Connor resides in Clearwater, Florida — yes, near Scientology headquarters and one of dad Tom Cruise's many properties. A source told People in 2018, "Connor has a pretty simple life in Clearwater." Though they lead entirely different lives, Kidman supports the path her son has chosen to follow. "Nicole only wants the best for Connor, but she gives him the freedom to make his own decisions, and that includes his religious beliefs and where he wants to live," a tipster told Hollywood Life .

Cruise and Kidman adopted both Connor and his older biological sister, 30-year-old Bella Cruise, when they were still married.

Connor Cruise is enjoying summer on the golf course!

The 28-year-old son of  Tom Cruise  and  Nicole Kidman  took to his Instagram Stories over the weekend to share a rare photo of himself at the Belleair Country Club in Florida.

In the shot, Connor poses in a blue checkered polo shirt, shades, and a hat and flashes a peace sign while posing for the selfie alongside two friends.

The smiling shot was taken in Belleair, a city just a few miles away from Clearwater, Florida which, as of 2019, Connor calls home.

The re-post marks the first from Connor since an April 29 photo , which also saw the son of two of Hollywood's most famous actors, on the golf course. This time, Connor was seen at the Pelican Golf Club, also in Belleair. He rocked a similar fit, wearing in the pic, wearing a striped polo shirt, gray shorts, shades, and a hat, flashing a thumbs up while standing next to a friend on the green.

He captioned the post with some golfing emojis.

Connor has mostly stayed out of the spotlight in recent years despite his famous parents. He did, however, attend the Diesel Fashion Show for Milan Fashion Week in February.

Kidman, 55, and Cruise, 60, were married in 1990 before splitting in 2001.

While public appearances from the 28-year-old are few and far between , Connor has been photographed alongside his famous father on multiple occasions over the years, including an appearance at a 2021 October Los Angeles Dodgers game in San Francisco. The pair were photographed sitting side-by-side in the stands as Cruise took photos with fans.

Cruise and Connor were also photographed together in October 2019 in London before boarding a private helicopter.

In addition to Connor and Bella, Cruise shares 17-year-old daughter Suri with his ex-wife, Katie Holmes. Kidman, meanwhile, is also mom to daughters Sunday, 14, and Faith, 12, with husband, Keith Urban.

Connor Cruise Lives a Mysterious Life Immersed in Scientology

It’s rare that Tom Cruise, who is known equally for being an actor and a Scientologist, steps out in public with one of his adult children who he adopted with ex-wife Nicole Kidman. But after he was photographed with daughter Bella Cruise, people are wondering about his son, Connor Cruise , and what his life is like mostly out of the spotlight.

In a way, Tom has done the right thing in shielding his kids from the harsh light of the public. Clearly, he has had his own run-ins with less than favorable publicity. But in doing so, he has created even more mystique surrounding them and plenty of questions from the public about who his kids are and what his relationship with them is really like.

So, who is Connor Cruise's wife?

In 2019, Connor married fellow Scientologist Silvia Zanchi. Although her Instagram is private, according to Women’s Day Australia , Silvia is not only part of the religion, but she is also a staff member from Italy who moved to Florida and met Connor there. Not only did Nicole, who left Scientology in 1997, not attend Connor’s wedding , but she was also absent from daughter Bella’s. There have long since been rumors that Nicole isn't close to either of her adult children, and in 2018, she spoke candidly to Who magazine about her relationship with her kids and her support for their life choices.

What is Connor Cruise's job?

Over the years, Connor has tried his hand at acting and even had a small following as a DJ, but these days, it looks like he has devoted his life to deep-sea fishing where he lives in Clearwater, Fla. Tom Cruise made a rare public appearance with his son Connor in New York on Saturday, and Cruise's older sister also tagged along for the outing. 

According to Entertainment Tonight's Jackie Willis , Cruise, Connor, and Cruise's sister Lee Mapother were photographed heading to an event at the AMC movie theater in Times Square on Saturday. The event was reportedly to promote Cruise's new film "Mission Impossible — Dead Reckoning."

Inside Connor Cruise's Life Today

Tom Cruise's children with ex Nicole Kidman, Isabella and Connor Cruise, have led a relatively quiet(er) life ever since Tom's daughter with Katie Holmes, Suri Cruise , came along. Adopted by Cruise and Kidman respectively in 1992 and 1995, per Page Six , Isabella and Connor were frequently seen by the erstwhile couple's side during their 11-year marriage .

Ever since June 2006, when Kidman married country crooner Keith Urban, however, the "Nine Perfect Strangers" star has not been photographed with either of her eldest two children, per Australia's Now To Love . (She also shares daughters Faith and Sunday with Urban.) That may have something to do with Connor and Isabella — now ages 26 and 28, respectively — staying with their father Tom after their parents' divorce in 2001 (via News.com.au ). As Kidman clarified to the Aussie news outlet, the kids remaining with Tom "was their choice." She added, I'd love them to live with us, but what can you do?" 

Nonetheless, Kidman appears up-to-date on Isabella's current affairs, as she resides in England with husband Max Parker. In 2019, Kidman gave  Vanity Fair in 2019 some insight into how "Bella" was navigating married life across the pond. "Bella lives just outside London. While Isabella Cruise, daughter to Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise, has lived in London since 2017 with husband Max Parker, per the Daily Mail , her younger bro, Connor Cruise, has been residing in Clearwater, Florida, developing a passion for deep-sea fishing and deejaying gigs. The location is opportune for Connor, as it not only boasts the perfect fisherman's waters, but also the headquarters for the Church of Scientology (of which Connor is a member, per  People ).

A quick scan of Connor's Instagram page shows the 26-year-old frequently flaunting his epic catches of the sea, quipping in a mid-August birthday Instagram Story to friend Jack Vasilaros (per the Daily Mail), "Happy birthday @hookedforlife! Cheers to another year slaying monsters around the globe." (The two are proudly propping up an enormous piscine catch together in the Story.)

As for Connor's DJ endeavors, they seemed to have at least temporarily been put on the backburner. With his  Instagram suggesting his last spinster gig was in August 2016, a People source revealed that while Connor "still deejays ... he has really become a big fishing guy" who's "content with living a quieter life." That quiet also includes "Connor's Meatshack," an Instagram account  curated to showcase Connor's love of meats and grilling said meats. Having also acted in high-profile flicks like Will Smith's 2008 "Seven Pounds" and the 2012 reboot of "Red Dawn," Connor truly appears to be a jack of all trades. 

Has Connor Cruise been in touch with Nicole Kidman?

Despite rumors to the contrary, both mother Nicole Kidman and son Connor Cruise seem to be on stable ground these days. Per Little Things , Connor and sister Isabella Cruise are Scientologists like their father Tom Cruise, while Kidman was reportedly deemed a "SP," or "Suppressive Person," by the Church. Many wondered if this had caused a wedge between Kidman and her oldest kids. Leah Remini, an ex-Scientologist, alleged in her 2015 memoir "Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology" that Isabella had told her in 2006 she wasn't in touch with Kidman, snarking, "Not if I can help it, she's a f**king SP," while Connor "just looked out the window" (via  Now To Love ). 

Tom denied that Kidman was blocked from seeing Connor and Isabella, telling Oprah Winfrey in 2008 (via  Reuters ), "We share custody. Whenever." Kidman affirmed this in 2018 to  Who , sharing, "They have made choices to be Scientologists ... It's our job as a parent to always offer unconditional love." The "Big Little Lies" actor did confess to The Sun in September 2019 (via Honey ) that her relationship with Connor and Isabella entailed "peaks and valleys," asserting that "motherhood is about the journey ... whether you are an adopting mother or a birth mother."

On June 2, Tom Cruise  and ex-wife Nicole Kidman 's son shared a group selfie with two friends at Belleair Country Club in Florida on his Instagram Stories.

Connor, 28, last posted a pic of himself on his account April 29 . In the photo, he was also seen golfing with a friend at a different county club in the state, where he lives.

Both Connor, a DJ, and his sister, artist  Bella Kidman Cruise , 30, have largely kept out of the spotlight despite growing up with famous parents, and rarely post on social media. Connor is occasionally photographed at fashion events and sometimes attends ballgames with his dad . He also shares Instagram pics of himself golfing, fishing or grilling meats, as well as throwback images of himself and his sister as children.

Connor and Bella are the only children Tom and Nicole, who divorced in 2001 , share together. Connor Cruise chooses to live his life mostly out of the spotlight while still maintaining a close relationship with his father, Tom Cruise .

Much like the 57-year-old actor, who is a high-ranking Scientologist, both Connor, 24, and his sister Isabella, 26, are members of the church .

“Connor and Isabella grew up in the church of Scientology, they’ve been members since they were kids,” a source tells PEOPLE, adding that the siblings “are completely dedicated scientologists just like Tom.”

Connor and Tom’s shared commitment to Scientology has made their bond strong over the years.

“Connor has been able to remain close with Tom because of Scientology,” the source adds.

Connor, who is the son of Cruise and ex-wife Nicole Kidman , currently calls Florida home.

“Connor lives in Clearwater, which is the church’s main hub. He still deejays but he has really become a big fishing guy . He’s content with living a quieter life,” the source tells PEOPLE.

As for his personal life, the source adds that Connor “is in a relationship with a fellow scientologist who also grew up in the religion.”

Although Connor mostly stays out of the spotlight, he does step out with his father from time to time, and the pair were most recently photographed together in London .

On Saturday, the father-son pair were seen heading to a private helicopter. Once inside the vehicle, Tom — who learned how to fly a helicopter for his role in the Mission: Impossible franchise — was seen showing Connor some aviation basics.

“Tom and Connor stepping out together in London was a big deal,” the source says. “It was the same weekend that Scientology does their annual gathering called the International Association of Scientologists (ASI). Tom has attended numerous times in the past, but this appears to be the first time Connor has gone.”

A source previously told PEOPLE that “Connor has a pretty simple life in Clearwater.”

Connor Cruise revealed a new, clean-shaven look on social media Wednesday that had followers doing a double take.

The 26-year-old adopted son of Hollywood exes Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman took to Instagram this week to show off his new look via an Instagram Stories selfie, captioning the shot, “New face, who dis?”

The photo shows Cruise with a buzzcut and tidy facial hair, as opposed to a photo shared to the site seven weeks ago, where he can be seen with short, curly hair and a hearty beard.

Cruise was adopted by the “Eyes Wide Shut” co-stars shortly after his 1995 birth. Sister Isabella, 28, was adopted by the couple three years earlier in 1992.

Both Connor and Isabella were raised in the Church of Scientology by their ambassador father, with sources at People reporting they “are completely dedicated Scientologists just like Tom.”

“Connor lives in Clearwater, which is the church’s main hub. He still deejays but he has really  become a big fishing guy . He’s content with living a quieter life.” 

As for mom Nicole, the Oscar winner told Australian magazine Who in 2018 that she supports her children, even if she doesn’t agree with their following in Tom’s footsteps.

They have made choices to be Scientologists and, as a mother, it’s my job to love them. And I am an example of that tolerance and that’s what I believe — that no matter what your child does, the child has love and the child has to know there is available love and I’m open here.

Tom and Elsina went public with their relationship earlier this month during an outing in London. The source says the sighting was intentional, as the couple wanted to debut their romance to the world. Tom and Elsina were apparently quietly dating a few months before the news broke.

"They hit it off, but he wanted to keep things super discreet while they first got to know each other,” the insider explained. “[Tom] made a big point of telling everyone after the London party how liberating and wonderful it was to have gotten this out in the open.”

Even though Tom and Elsina’s relationship is new, it’s already stirred controversy. Her ex-husband, Russian oligarch Dmitry Tsetkov, gave an interview to Daily Mail where he warned the actor that Elsina has a history of going after men with money.

“Irrespective of whoever she’s with, Tom Cruise or anybody else, they should be aware that she likes the finer things in life,” Tsetkov told the outlet. “I’m happy for her, I wish her all the best.”

Elsina’s ex-husband alleged that her clothing and accessories collection alone costs $12 million, speaking to her taste for luxury. Tsetkov added that Cruise need to “keep his wallet wide open” to make the relationship with Khayrova work, given her “expensive and luxurious tastes,” perhaps hinting at what led to the end of their marriage.

Tsetkov, who made his fortune in diamonds and mining, was married to Elsina for more than a decade before their divorce in 2020. The exes share two children.

Despite wishing her “the best,” Tsetkov and Elsina reportedly had a contentious divorce. He claim he drained her fortune and settling their divorce cost him nearly $200 million in the end, even costing him numerous assets. As of now, the exes are barely on speaking terms despite having kids together.

“I haven’t spoken with Elsina about this because our preferred method of communication is through our lawyers,” Tsetkov continued. “She’s 36, she’s beautiful, financially independent and loves life.”

The oligarch added that it’s been weird seeing Cruise date his ex-wife, considering he always thought the actor would be the perfect choice to play him in a movie about his life.

“I told the producer that the only actor who could play me is Tom Cruise. We’re about the same height and weight and I would be honoured if that could happen,” he explained. “I couldn’t think of anyone better to play me than Tom. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to meet him one day to discuss this project.”

For now, Cruise hasn’t responded to Tsetkov’s comments nor has he publicly spoken about his reported relationship with Elsina.

Suri Cruise was once the most famous baby in America.

The arrival of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ daughter on April 18, 2006, sparked a global frenzy for the first glimpse of the A-list infant.

But it wasn’t until five months after her birth that she made her debut — on the cover of Vanity Fair, wrapped in the arms of her doting parents, in glossy photos taken by photographer to the stars, Annie Leibovitz.

Now she turns 18 this week and faces a choice: Whether to return to the level of fame she had as a kid — when there were blogs devoted to her fashion — or maintain the carefully-guarded life Holmes has built for her since she blindsided Cruise by filing for divorce.

The dark-haired teen has grown up in Manhattan largely shielded from the spotlight by her loving and highly protective mum, 45, far removed from her 60-year-old father’s Church of Scientology.

As Page Six revealed last year, Suri is estranged from her famous father and the pair have no relationship.

An industry source told us this week that the Mission: Impossible star has not seen Suri since 2012. “Katie has safeguarded Suri and she’s a devoted mum,” the source said.

“This is a girl who is a private citizen. She hasn’t lived her life in public.”

Holmes told Glamour magazine in 2023 that she likes to “protect” Suri from the public eye “because she was so visible at a young age.”

“I’m very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent. She’s an incredible person. She’s my heart,” she added.

Being the only daughter of a protective single parent is a stark contrast to how Suri’s life began, of course.

“My whole life I always wanted to be a father,” Cruise gushed to VF back in 2006.

“I always said to myself that my children would be able to depend on me and I would always be there for them and love them — that I’d never make a promise to my kids that I couldn’t keep.

“I’m not one of those people who believe you can spoil a child with too much love. You can never give a child too much love. There’s just no way.”

He already had two adopted children, Bella, now 31, and Connor, now 29, from his marriage to Nicole Kidman and after her Vanity Fair debut was happy to parade Suri for the paparazzi.

Cruise had famously declared their romance by jumping up and down on Oprah Winfrey’s couch in May 2005, yelling “I’m in love!”

But when Suri was just 6, Holmes filed for divorce after six years of marriage with the help of her dad, Martin Holmes, a fierce lawyer, and through a secret plan that entailed using burner phones.

Cruise was taken completely by surprise by the filing while he was on the set of Oblivion in Iceland in June 2012.

He and Suri were last seen together at Disney World in the summer of 2012.

In November 2013, during a deposition in his $US50 million court battle against a pair of tabloid magazines, the Top Gun star admitted that Holmes had filed for divorce “to protect Suri from Scientology,” court documents revealed.

Despite not having a relationship; as per their divorce agreement, Cruise, who has an estimated $US600 million fortune, agreed to pay Holmes $US400,000 a year until Suri turns 18 as well as future “medical, dental, insurance, education, college and other extra-curricular costs”.

Scientology lies at the heart of the question over Suri’s future.

Holmes, who rose to fame in the TV hit, Dawson’s Creek , is believed to have signed multiple nondisclosure documents that will prevent her from ever talking about her marriage to Cruise — and her time inside Scientology.

But when Suri turns 18, NY state declares that she is at the age of majority, when an individual is legally considered an adult.

That would allow her to speak about her father, his beliefs and their rift.

Tony Ortega, who has covered Scientology in depth for decades, told Page Six, “Suri would have been too young to sign any agreement, but she will now be free to talk if she wants to and it’s going to be really interesting if she has something to say.”

We have reached out to reps for Cruise, Holmes and the Church of Scientology.

“Part of why Katie left when she did when Suri was 6 was that Katie would have seen Isabella and Connor going through Scientology,” said Ortega.

Cruise is of course Scientology’s most famous follower and seen as one of its most powerful figures, possibly second only to its leader, David Miscavige.

That power has led Ortega and former Scientologists to question what action Miscavige and other top Scientologists may have taken against Holmes and her daughter.

Regular members who quit are declared “suppressive persons (SP)” and those who stay in Scientology are told to completely cut them off.

“We don’t know for sure if Katie was ever declared an SP,” Ortega said.

“If you are a regular church member you could be told to disconnect from your wife and daughter, but because Tom is a celebrity — he’s the top celebrity — he gets to ignore all this stuff.

“Your average member would be kicked out, but David Miscavige can’t do that with Tom.”

Both Mike Rinder and Jeff Augustine, two high-profile former Scientologists, agreed with this claim.

Augustine is married to Karen de la Carriere, who was one of the highest-ranking church leaders until she left in 2010 and told Page Six, “The situation with Suri is a larger story about Scientology and the subject of how they make people no longer useful to them or threats to them non-persons.

“It’s like they cease to exist and that’s what happened to Suri.”

Back in August 2020, Leah Remini — one of the most famous celebrities to leave and speak out against Scientology — told us that she believed Cruise, who now lives mainly in the UK, was waiting until Suri is older so he could indoctrinate her into Scientology.

Remini, who attended Cruise and Holmes’ November 2006 Italian wedding at the 15th-century Odescalchi Castle, said, “I’m sure his master plan is to wait until Suri gets older so that he can lure her into Scientology and away from her mother.”

Suri has tiptoed very gently into her parents’ showbusiness world while attending her exclusive Manhattan day school, singing B lue Moon in the opening credits of Holmes’ 2022 movie, Alone Together.

“I always want the highest level of talent,” Holmes said. “So I asked her! She’s very, very talented. She said she would do it and she recorded it, and I let her do her thing.”

Suri also sang in the film Rare Objects , which Holmes also directed.

Holmes will this year return to Broadway in a revival of Thornton Wilder’s Our Town .

She has not remarried but had a six-year romance with actor Jamie Foxx which she kept under the radar before their split in August 2019 and went on to have a brief fling with Nolita restaurateur Emilio Vitolo Jr. in 2021.

Holmes is careful not to speak out too much about her daughter, who is now preparing for college, once saying, “She came out very strong — she’s always been a strong personality.”

But she is now getting ready for her daughter to leave the nest.

“You want them to stay with you forever, but they’re these amazing beings, and you have to do everything you can to give them what they need — and then they’re going to go,” she told Town & Country in 2017.

As for the future, former Scientology spokesperson Mike Rinder, who has not seen his own two eldest children since he quit the organisation, told Page Six, “Suri is not a Scientologist and never will be … she deserves love and sympathy.”

Here’s the latest installment of our Miami Dolphins Q&A, where South Florida Sun Sentinel writers David Furones and Chris Perkins answer questions from readers.

Q: Do you think that the current roster is better now than before free agency? I do. — T.J. 2.0 on X

I would say the roster, on paper, is at a slight net loss right now when compared to last year’s hypothetical fully healthy roster.

If the Dolphins were in position to keep one of either defensive tackle Christian Wilkins or right guard Robert Hunt, even if just for the 2024 season on the franchise tag, that would change my opinion. Outside linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel’s loss will be felt. And we still don’t have clarity on the situation regarding center Connor Williams.

The losses, with cornerback Xavien Howard also among them after his necessary release for financial reasons, outweigh the pickups. Although, I do like a lot of the veteran signings, especially for their value when you look at safety Jordan Poyer, cornerback Kendall Fuller, edge rusher Shaq Barrett, center Aaron Brewer, tight end Jonnu Smith and the slew of defensive linemen that appear primed for a rotation to replace Wilkins.

All that said, the offseason isn’t over for the Dolphins. They still have their upcoming first- and second-round picks next week in the draft. They pick up $18.5 million toward the 2024 salary cap when the Howard money comes in, so more free-agent moves are sure to come in the latter part of the offseason. Maybe Odell Beckham Jr.?

So we still need to see the totality of the offseason to truly judge. Plus, beyond that, what’s most important is what the roster looks like by the playoff push if the team can avoid attrition to injury. It did last year’s roster no good to have most of the starting defense out while virtually every key offensive playmaker was hobbled for a playoff game in Kansas City.

To recap the former quarterback’s latest take on Tua Tagovailoa and his extension negotiations , Simms essentially said Dolphins general manager Chris Grier is feeling the pressure over selecting Tagovailoa in the 2020 draft over the other first-round passers that year, Justin Herbert and Jordan Love. He mentioned Joe Burrow, but he was selected No. 1 by the Cincinnati Bengals, before the Dolphins at 5.

His overarching point was that the Dolphins will end up overpaying Tagovailoa as the two sides work to strike up a long-term deal because Grier is doubling down on the selection.

I do agree with one point, in that the Dolphins shouldn’t feel a need to meet some outrageous number that no other team in the NFL would pay for Tagovailoa, essentially having the organization bid against itself.

Pay Tua what he’s truly worth, and that doesn’t mean he should become the league’s new highest-paid quarterback, which will make it more difficult to put the necessary pieces around him.

Beyond that, we all know Simms’ position on Tua, and he’s committed to bashing him every chance he gets. So we should know by now how to take his criticisms of him as a quarterback.

Q: What position are you picking at #21? — CaliDolphin on X

In my mock draft last week , I had the Dolphins trading down and selecting Duke’s Graham Barton. So I’m saying interior offensive lineman and a blocker who can become an option at tackle in the event Terron Armstead retires after this season.

I especially like that he’s the best athlete over Oregon’s Jackson Powers-Johnson and West Virginia’s Zach Frazier. That bodes well for the outside zone. But I like it even better if Miami can trade down to snag him, adding a third-round pick, which the franchise doesn’t currently possess.

That’s my pick in the event that UCLA edge rusher Laiatu Latu and Texas defensive tackle Byron Murphy are off the board at No. 21, which I’m predicting in my mock draft. If either of those are there, that could be a game changer.
